## Summary

This video explains the fundamental differences between Proof of Work (PoW) and Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanisms in blockchain technology. It details how each works, their advantages and disadvantages, and why many cryptocurrencies are shifting towards Proof of Stake.

### Key Points

- **Proof of Work Basics** [00:42] — Proof of Work involves mining, where thousands of computers compete to solve a mathematical puzzle. The first to solve it adds a block to the blockchain and receives a reward and transaction fees.
- **Proof of Work Inefficiency** [02:10] — In Proof of Work, only the first solver benefits, wasting the effort and resources of all other participants. This leads to high electricity consumption, high costs, and slow transaction times.
- **Bitcoin and Ethereum Use PoW** [02:25] — Bitcoin currently uses Proof of Work. Ethereum also used to use PoW but has transitioned to Proof of Stake.
- **Proof of Stake Basics** [03:46] — Proof of Stake does not involve mining or solving puzzles. Instead, users stake their coins, and a validator is randomly selected (with higher stake increasing probability) to add a block and earn rewards.
- **Security in Proof of Stake** [04:41] — In Proof of Stake, validators risk losing their stake if they act dishonestly, providing a financial incentive to behave correctly and ensuring network security.
- **Advantages of Proof of Stake** [05:10] — Proof of Stake has no mining, lower costs (no expensive hardware), fewer participants, faster network, and better scalability, making it more futuristic.
- **Comparison and Shift** [06:30] — Proof of Work is more secure but slow, costly, and not scalable. Proof of Stake is more scalable, faster, and cheaper, leading many coins to move towards PoS.

### Conclusion

Proof of Work offers high security but is inefficient and costly, while Proof of Stake provides scalability and efficiency at the cost of some security. The industry is trending towards Proof of Stake due to its futuristic advantages.

Hello Friends. Have you ever wondered ? How do we know which transaction is correct? Which transaction is wrong? Or do you actually have the crypto currency in which the transaction has taken place or
not? Who tracks all this stuff ? How does it happen? What is Proof of Work ? What is Proof of Stake? How do they work? Who video till the end. Many things will be cleared one by one and
you will easily understand which one is better and how I Ashok Singh welcome you all in this video. So first of all we will start with Proof of Work, this is Proof of Work, first of all we will talk about
what is Proof of Work? What basically happens in Proof of Work? Mining takes place. Mining takes place in Proof of Work. This mining involves thousands of computers.
Or there are more than this, there are more computer experts than this. So it involves a lot of computer scientists solving a mathematical puzzle. Isn't it? Mathematical Mathematical Puzzle. Okay, right? Try to solve mathematical puzzles. Now a lot of
computer tutors solve it. A lot of people solve it. But the one who is the first, that is, the one who will respond the most, the one who will respond first will be considered to have solved this puzzle and he will be
authorized to add a blog to the blockchain. Isn't it? The first person to solve the puzzle will add a block to the blockchain and will receive a reward in return. to the blockchain and will receive a reward in return.
transaction fees. Isn't it? He will get reward and transaction fee. Now you understand one thing that to solve a simple puzzle, that to solve a simple puzzle, many people and thousands of computer scientists work.
Thousands of people work. And you will see who benefits from this? It is up to one of them who solves the puzzle first. So everyone made efforts but did everyone benefit? Not everyone benefited. This is a negative thing in this.
Which means that whatever efficiency and expenses other people have put in, all of it has gone to waste. Only one person has benefited. So you have understood the proof of work, you have understood the proof of work, how it works.
If we talk about Bitcoin in crypto currency, then Bitcoin works in proof of work. Isn't it? Bitcoin works with proof of work. Okay, right ? Apart from this, Ethereum also used to work in Proof of Work earlier. Butt currently does
not work with Ethereum Proof of Work but with Proof of Stake. We will understand that also in detail later. This process that I have described is called mining. There are some problems in this. What are the problems? Like you saw one thing that a lot of
people get involved in this. Many people are working with involvement. So this means that a lot of electricity is being used in this. Electricity is being used too much. Too many people are
putting their efficiency. Okay, right? It can be very time consuming. It can be time consuming and slow. It is time consuming and slow.
These are some negative things. And what is the worst thing? For this you do not have to use very heavy machines which are very costly. Isn't it? So if you want to do mining then you have to spend a lot of money first. So
a basic investor in mining is not successful. Only big companies which have huge infrastructure are able to sustain in this. Other people are not able to sustain it. This is a very negative thing. Now let's come to Proof of
Stake. Now, Proof of Stake is completely different from mining. You should not understand Proof of Stake to mean mining at all. There is no mining required in this. There is no need to solve any mathematical puzzle in this. What happens in this is that
for the transaction, first of all you have to stake. Isn't it ? Coins have to be staked. Coins have to be staked. After that you will see that whenever a transaction takes place, a person is selected randomly. Now, randomly selecting a person
means that he will have the highest stake of coins. It is possible that his probability of getting selected is higher. So if he is selected then he leaves that block. He will he is selected then he leaves that block. He will add the block. The
block will be added by the person who has been selected randomly. Now this will add the block. Now it will be seen that if it adds the block and its entire process is correct or legal then it gets a reward. Isn't it? It
gets rewards and also gets transaction fees. But if it is not done properly, the work is not done right, then the person holding the stake gets deducted from it. So in this way there is security here because your stake is also your stake,
so if you do not do the correct transaction then your stake will be minus. This is a negative thing here, this is the thing which inspires people to work honestly security comes from here. Now what is the benefit of this process? There must be some benefit.
So the first advantage is that mining is free here. There is no mining here. The first process is the first benefit. The second process is the first benefit. The second advantage is that the cost here is very low
So expensive machines will have to be installed. So you will not have to spend a lot of money. Third thing here is that the number of people is very less. Too many people, too much network doesn't work on this. One is chosen randomly
and he verifies, validates and adds the block. So it is not that many people are working but only one person is getting the benefit. Only one person is working in this and he is the one who is verifying. Whoever has the stake is chosen at random
and gets the reward. So this also became an advantage. And one more thing is that it also became an advantage. And one more thing is that it requires a fast network. It requires a fast network and is scalable. Isn't it? Meaning it can be expanded more
and is futuristic. So these are some basic advantages of Proof of Stake. they are getting more focus. On Proof of Stake. Not working on Proof of Work. Because the problem with Proof of Work is that it is a slow
process. It is very costly and not futuristic. Okay, right? The system is a bit slow. What it has is that it is more scalable and faster. So there is an advantage of working in Proof of Stake. So many coins are
slowly moving to Proof of Stake. So which one has more security? more secure. He has been working for a very long time. The security in it is very high. But the problem is that it is a bit
slow. It costs a little more and requires a lot of hard work from a lot of people, a lot of computers, a lot of networks. Only one person gets the benefit and only one person gets the reward. And not that scalable. Isn't it? It
is more secure. But if we talk about Proof of Stake, it is more scalable. There could be is more futuristic. The network should be strong and the costing is going to be very low. And the more stake you have,
the more chance you have of getting picked. Isn't it? To be picked to verify and add the new block. So, most of the coins that are there today are hope you liked the video. If you have any confusion in the video, you
