## Summary

This video is a segment from a financial news program called 'Power Breakfast,' focusing on the commodities market. It reports on a rise in industrial commodity prices, particularly crude oil and metals, driven by positive economic data from China. The segment also provides a brief update on Asian markets before signing off.

### Key Points

- **Chinese PMI Boosts Commodities** [00:00] — A significant improvement in China's PMI data for February, rising to 51.6 from 49.2 in January, is the primary driver behind the positive momentum in commodity markets across Asia.
- **Crude Oil Prices Rebound** [00:30] — After four months of decline, crude oil prices are starting March on a positive note. This is supported by declining OPEC output (28.97 million barrels in Feb vs 29.67 million in Sept) and a decrease in U.S. production.
- **Metals Follow Suit** [00:44] — Industrial metals like copper, aluminum, and zinc are also trading higher in Asia, benefiting from the same positive sentiment stemming from the Chinese economic data.
- **Asian Markets Mixed** [01:03] — Asian markets are showing mixed performance. Hong Kong's market is up around 2%, the Nikkei is flat, and the SGX Nifty is indicating a weaker start for the Indian market.

### Conclusion

The commodities market is experiencing a short-term rally, fueled by improving economic signals from China. However, the broader Asian market sentiment remains mixed, indicating that the recovery is not yet uniform across all asset classes.

## Transcript

Welcome back. You're still tuned into Power Breakfast and let's talk all about the commodities space now. Manisha joins us with an update. Manisha, good morning. What are you tracking today? Well, I'm looking at the industrial commodities and a big push coming in from the Chinese cakes in PMI data,
which for the month of Feb has seen the first improvement in seven months at around 51.6. This was 49.2 in the month of January. So we are looking at better numbers coming in from China and that clearly has supported the commodity markets in Asia right now.
So the crude oil prices after posting four months of decline have started the month of March on a positive note. We also are looking at the OPEC output continuing to decline. For September, we were at 29.67 million barrels.
For the month of Feb, it has been at 28.97. And the U.S. production also has seen a decline. So various factors which seem to be right now supporting the crude oil prices. It's a similar view for the metal prices also. So whether it's copper, aluminum, zinc, we've seen all of them start Asia today on a positive note on the back of Chinese PMI numbers.
All right, Manisha, thanks a lot for getting us all of those details from the commodity space. But with that, we're completely out of time on this edition of Power Breakfast. We leave you with the news that the Asian markets are quite mixed this morning. Hong Kong market's doing very well, up, you know, around 2% right now.
The Nikkei market's absolutely flat, but the SGX Nifty is indicating a bit of a weaker start. So let's see how it pans out. Thanks for tuning in to Power Breakfast. Bazaar Morning Call is up in two.
