[0:00] Hi, I'm Hazel. It's Saturday today, [0:02] which makes it time to sit down and [0:04] catch up on the WoW news of the week. [0:07] This week, we got lots of news. Blizzard [0:09] has freshly announced patch 12.1, hot on [0:12] the heels of the release of patch [0:13] 12.0.7. [0:15] We don't have a release date yet, so [0:17] that is still up in the air, although [0:18] there are rumors it could be soon. It [0:21] could be not so soon. It probably won't [0:23] be too long. There's not a world in [0:25] which they leave us languishing until [0:26] Christmas time. What we did find out is [0:29] lots and lots of details about [0:31] everything that is coming in the new [0:33] patch. Lots of it is kind of stuff that [0:35] you might expect for a new season and [0:37] some things are surprising. I want to in [0:39] this video focus on the things that I [0:41] was most excited about or surprised by [0:43] and then kind of dig more into various [0:46] topics as we get closer to the patch [0:47] release. The thing that stood out to me [0:49] the most from the patch 12.1 [0:51] announcement were the housing updates. [0:54] There are quite a few of them. Firstly, [0:56] our housing blueprints. This is the long [0:59] for spoken about ability to save a [1:03] house, export a house, import a house, [1:05] or indeed just a room. Save your whole [1:08] layout and then reset it to play with it [1:10] and then revert back. These are all [1:12] blueprint things and they are coming in [1:13] 12.1. [1:15] I am super impressed that this feature [1:17] is going to be ready that soon. When [1:18] they first had talked about this in a [1:20] blog post, it really sounded like a very [1:22] down the road thing. I'm hoping that it [1:25] works well. I think that they know how [1:28] bad it would be if they promised that [1:30] you could save something and then it [1:32] like messed it up. You know, people are [1:35] going to be kind of relying on this. So, [1:37] you know, hopefully it's in good shape [1:39] when they ship it. I do think that [1:41] template houses are going to be super [1:42] fun to import to start off from. It'll [1:45] be super fun to make versions of them [1:47] that you can share with people. This is [1:48] going to give a lot of people the [1:49] freedom that they need to kind of let [1:51] loose and actually try new things [1:52] without worrying about throwing away [1:54] everything they've done with their house [1:55] up until this point. But that's not the [1:57] only thing that is coming for housing in [1:59] 12.1. Pets are going to be placeable in [2:01] houses in 12.1. You'll be able to place [2:03] a pet bed in your house and then choose [2:05] to either have the pet that you [2:07] associate chill on the bed or you can [2:09] have it wander and kind of path around [2:11] the house. And that's not all. There's [2:13] going to be four new endeavors promising [2:14] new decor. The themes are knockoff [2:17] Ammani with our favorite uh knockoff um [2:21] vendor Grifta. There's also going to be [2:23] an anar and centaur endeavor, a cobalt [2:25] endeavor, and Tortolins. And each of [2:28] those will have, you know, themed decor [2:29] that's going to be available from that [2:30] endeavor. So, excellent categories for [2:32] new decor. It'll be nice to have another [2:34] reason to get kind of excited about [2:35] endeavors and pay attention to them. I [2:37] was very into them before midnight [2:39] launched and then once we actually got [2:40] midnight content to play, I can't [2:42] remember really. They kind of happened [2:43] by accident and by then I'd already [2:44] bought everything. So, new ones will be [2:46] fun. And then they are expanding and [2:48] streamlining dye and die crafting. So, [2:51] they're moving into a system where there [2:53] will be fewer types of pigments to craft [2:55] from and then more types of dye that you [2:57] can make, more colors of dye that you'll [2:59] be able to use. They had quite an [3:01] interesting um write up about this and [3:03] kind of like why they've done this and [3:06] how they got there, but effectively [3:07] they're trying to make it so that you [3:09] can craft and make a various dyes [3:11] without needing to use like a 100 mag [3:12] slots. And also evidently they had [3:15] patched a bug that was dealing with [3:17] colors after the housing had come out, [3:20] but in doing so kind of changed the way [3:22] some of them were looking because they [3:23] hadn't been looking correct and people [3:25] had already kind of designed around the [3:27] bugged version of the color. So, one of [3:29] the things that they're doing is they're [3:31] patching in new colors of dye that kind [3:33] of replace those old versions of them. [3:36] It's an interesting read if you're into [3:37] housing. I will link it below. Also, [3:39] level 12 houses are coming. More house [3:41] levels, which of course is going to mean [3:42] more budget and the ability to move your [3:45] house entry to anywhere in your house, [3:47] including different floors, which [3:49] effectively enables basements. If you [3:51] have been dying to have a basement for [3:52] your gaming room or what have you, [3:54] whatever else people do with basements, [3:56] you'll be able to move your entryway to [3:58] an upstairs floor and then effectively, [4:00] you know, in in in the brain, which I [4:03] think is where most of these things are [4:04] happening, you know, the ground floor is [4:06] now the basement. So, those are the [4:07] broadstrokes of the housing things. I'm [4:09] excited to dig into that more in PTR. [4:11] But that's not all that's coming in [4:12] 12.1, of course. Other things that [4:15] surprised me, updated pings. This is a [4:17] little one, but it was kind of cool. [4:18] You're going to be able to ping a spell [4:21] on your bar in 12.1 to communicate its [4:23] status. So, for example, you could be [4:25] running along in your mythic plus [4:27] dungeon in a pug and you could ping your [4:29] cool down to let the tank know that your [4:30] cooldown is available. So, you know, it [4:32] might be time for like a fun pull or you [4:34] could you could ping your defensives as [4:36] a healer to let them know that they're [4:38] not available [snorts] [4:39] and it is not time for a fun pull. [4:42] [sighs and gasps] You'll also be able to [4:43] ping your own unit frame to communicate [4:45] the status of your own health bar to [4:47] alert somebody to their decreasing [4:48] health or as I foresee happening to [4:51] harass your healer about your health [4:53] when they already know when they're [4:54] working on it. [sighs and gasps] [4:56] People wouldn't do that, would they? The [4:59] ping system is one of those things that [5:00] has turned out to be very useful and has [5:03] kind of crept into my WoW life over [5:04] time. So, I'm always excited to see them [5:06] kind of iterating and working on it. [5:09] Another new feature coming in 12.1 that [5:12] is exciting but also was a little [5:14] confusing to me is something called [5:16] layers, which is what they're doing for [5:19] world bosses. [5:20] So, they're taking world bosses, new [5:24] ones, and instead of having them out in [5:26] the world, they're putting them into [5:28] their own one boss instance, kind of [5:31] like a delver like the ritual site. So [5:32] you'll you'll go to the spa and you'll [5:34] be able to join an instance of that [5:37] world boss, which is nice because that [5:39] takes I think the zone leg out of the [5:41] equation. I think world bosses have had [5:43] a lot of impact on zone performance. So [5:45] moving them into their own instances [5:46] should help that and also makes [5:48] performance better on the world boss [5:49] itself. Um there's going to be summoning [5:52] stones and there's also interestingly [5:54] going to be various difficulties for the [5:56] world bosses scaling all the way up to [5:58] flex mythic with 15 to 25 players. The [6:01] thing that I got hung up on when I was [6:03] reading about this and watching the [6:04] announcement is if you go into an [6:07] instance and you're finding yourself a [6:09] group and you're summoning people and [6:11] you're choosing a difficulty up to [6:13] mythic, [6:16] is that not just a one boss raid? What [6:20] is the difference between these new [6:22] layers and what we had for Sporefall? [6:24] And it's okay if there's no difference. [6:26] That's that's fine. I just kind of want [6:27] to know where they fit into the the [6:30] hierarchy of WoW bosses. And I'll [6:32] probably know that once I actually get [6:33] on to PTR and uh see things like the [6:36] loot level and I guess the difficulty [6:38] levels of them because it sounds a lot [6:40] like a raid boss. I've been having a lot [6:43] of fun in sportfall. I think Rott Meer [6:44] is a good time and I don't I'm not [6:46] opposed to them doing more of that. I'm [6:48] just I guess it being positioned as the [6:52] thing for world bosses but then having [6:54] like all the different difficulties is [6:55] throwing me off. I'm just trying to [6:56] figure out like how to how to think [6:58] about it. What is it? It's quacking like [7:01] a duck and it's got a beak like a duck, [7:03] but I just don't want to throw it into [7:04] my pond and then it turns out it was a [7:06] chicken and it can't swim so good. [7:10] I don't have to make sense. Other [7:12] [snorts] things coming. One interesting [7:16] one is they're announcing the ability to [7:19] connect Battlelet and Discord. They've [7:22] got this new Discord integration coming [7:24] and it sounds like when set up you'll be [7:26] able to use this to send messages to [7:29] Discord, like to your guild Discord [7:31] directly from your in-game client chat [7:34] and vice versa, like send a message in [7:36] Discord that will hit a certain tab or [7:38] channel of Guild chat in game. They have [7:40] a whole post about it that explains like [7:42] how you'll be able to set it up and what [7:44] it specifically does. And I read through [7:47] the whole thing and maybe I'm just too [7:50] antisocial for this, but I don't really [7:53] get the point of this one because in my [7:55] brain and I'm I have Discord, you know, [7:57] that's how I that's how I talk with [7:59] guild during raids and stuff, but like [8:01] if you're playing WoW [8:03] and you're on a PC because that's how we [8:05] play WoW and you're a Discord user, you [8:09] probably are also running Discord on [8:12] your PC. [8:14] like you're probably you have both on [8:16] either separate tabs or monitors. Maybe [8:17] it's to make it easier for like guildies [8:19] that can't make it to raid to use their [8:21] phones to let the guild know. Although I [8:24] think you can be message from your [8:25] phone, but I don't know. I don't I don't [8:27] know if anybody who does that. I guess [8:28] I'm just struggling to see what the use [8:30] case is for it, but I'm sure people will [8:32] use it. Anyway, I might just be too much [8:34] of a social hermit for this one. Perhaps [8:35] other people will be making good use of [8:37] that. Other things coming, all of the [8:40] things you'd expect from a new major [8:41] patch. There's going to be a new zone. [8:43] is called the coil dial this time and [8:45] it's going to have its own custom talent [8:46] tree to provide outdoor power and [8:48] quality of life perks in the zone. I did [8:51] get very brief flashbacks to the MA when [8:54] they announced that for a quick second, [8:56] but it it might be fine. It looks fun. [8:58] There will be po dangerous rivers of [9:00] poison to cross and we'll just figure [9:02] that out. There will be a new reputation [9:04] coming with a Tortullan sea captain [9:06] associated with a new thing called [9:07] cursed fishing. Um you'll be unlocking [9:10] cursed fishing spots which sounds kind [9:11] of cool. There's of course going to be a [9:13] new raid. It'll be eight bosses. It [9:15] seems very troll themed. Looks cool. [9:17] Lots of snakes. Uh raid testing for that [9:19] is starting very shortly um next week, [9:21] Thursday, Friday. So, we'll be hands- on [9:23] with that pretty soon. There are two new [9:25] proper delves and then a third nemesis [9:27] delve coming. And there's also going to [9:29] be a brand new prey season. Prey will be [9:31] kept up to date. There will be new prey [9:32] targets and affixes to deal with on the [9:35] coiled aisle. Speaking of seasonal [9:37] stuff, the seasonal dungeon pool was [9:39] announced. It looks like this. We have [9:41] the four midnight dungeons that were [9:43] announced that we haven't seen yet as [9:45] expected. A fifth one that is a brand [9:47] new three boss dungeon that they just [9:48] announced with 12.1 and three returning [9:51] dungeons which are ruby life pools uh [9:55] lovingly known as ruin my life pools to [9:57] some king's rest and then of course on [10:00] account of the snakes we of course have [10:01] to go back to temple. [10:03] They do like to match the patch theme [10:05] when they can. [10:07] I might be naive. I'm not super worried [10:09] about any of these. Even though Ruby [10:11] Life Pools was a tough key in in Dragon [10:13] Flight. I feel like it's pretty frequent [10:17] that they bring back a key that was [10:19] formerly infamous or just really [10:21] notorious for being tricky and then [10:23] they've either retuned it or changed the [10:25] mechanics around and taken like the real [10:27] gnarly pain points out. You never know [10:29] how it's going to shake out. I feel like [10:30] it's going to be fine. I have some [10:32] really unearned optimism [10:35] [snorts] specifically for these uh [10:36] returning dungeons. [10:39] Speaking of the season, all of the new [10:40] tier sets have been data of mine, so we [10:42] can check those out. I think the [10:44] standout to me here is definitely the [10:46] monk set. The rest of these, and maybe [10:49] it's just because we've seen so many [10:51] tier sets at this point, and I've turned [10:52] into more of a trading postmog enjoyer, [10:55] but it's the rest of them look really, [10:57] they look fine, but they look very [10:59] familiar. And I think maybe we've just [11:01] seen too many sets at this point and [11:03] it's just very tough to make new class [11:05] sets stand out and have their own kind [11:09] of vibe while still staying true to the [11:10] class identity. That's just my opinion [11:12] though. I will link the data mining post [11:14] in the description if you want to tap [11:15] through them and see for yourself. [11:18] Other things going on this week in the [11:20] live game, uh 1207 has launched. I've [11:23] been having fun with that. A new secret [11:25] finding pet has been discovered and this [11:27] is something that you can get now if you [11:28] want. It seems pretty easy to get, but [11:30] it does require access to Nagtal. So, if [11:33] you're watching this video as it comes [11:34] out on kind of like Saturday or the [11:36] Sunday, Monday following, you can still [11:38] do it. Otherwise, you'll have to wait [11:39] another week for Nagal to rotate back [11:41] because it's going to alternate between [11:43] Val. The pet is the unfaced diver. It's [11:46] been around for a while, but it's only [11:47] just recently that it's become doable. [11:49] Uh, pretty cute pet looks like this. And [11:52] then in my life this week, I'm [11:54] definitely still neck deep in managing [11:57] the ringorm. [11:59] um in the house. So, lots of cleaning, [12:02] lots of laundry, lots of treatment for [12:04] the kitties. They're doing good. They're [12:06] getting bigger so fast. I know they're [12:08] kittens and they're at that age, but it [12:09] feels like every can of cat food that I [12:11] put into them just like directly like [12:13] like levels the cat up one size. I'm [12:16] feeling impatient for the future when [12:18] they can be freed from their prison and [12:20] they're finished with all of this and [12:21] they can once again, you know, crash the [12:23] stream with impunity. And that's been [12:26] the week. Thank you very much for [12:28] watching. If you have any questions or [12:29] you just want to say hi, feel free to [12:30] stop by my Twitch stream. I appreciate [12:32] you guys and I hope you have a [12:34] wonderful, wonderful day. Bye. [12:39] [music] [12:43] [music]
