[0:00] Having nearly injured myself running to [0:02] the computer for what I thought was GTA [0:04] 6 trailer 3, I'm now compelled to take a [0:06] magnifying glass of conjecture to all [0:10] the intricate details of Rockstar's [0:12] newly revealed cover art ahead of [0:13] pre-orders opening on the 25th of June. [0:16] And I know it seems absurd. You might [0:18] accuse us of trying to spin content out [0:20] of bugger all. and you'd be right, but [0:22] there are some genuinely compelling [0:24] little details in this artwork and the [0:26] manner in which it was revealed that are [0:28] worth looking into. [0:31] Just like the cover art for almost every [0:33] Grand Theft Auto since GTA 3, the upper [0:36] left panel of GTA 6's cover art features [0:39] a helicopter. This time it's a Sea [0:41] Sparrow, the amphibious helicopter that [0:44] first appeared in the original Vice City [0:46] and now frequents the skies of GTA [0:49] Online. This particular model is [0:51] equipped with a mounted minigun bolted [0:53] onto the cockpit steps. It would usually [0:55] be an odd thing for a utility helicopter [0:57] to come armed with high RPM military [0:59] hardware as standard. So, it may well be [1:01] that you can modify choppers with [1:03] aftermarket add-ons just like you can in [1:06] GTA Online. This throwback to Vice City, [1:09] along with the general color scheme of [1:11] GTA 6's marketing and the reveal video's [1:14] bespoke synthwave soundtrack, which [1:16] appears to be an original piece [1:18] commissioned by Rockstar, is making a [1:21] real statement about GTA 6's links to [1:24] the series past. We know the game has a [1:26] contemporary setting and goes out of its [1:28] way to parody the world of social media, [1:31] but there are undeniable nods to the [1:33] 1980s setting of 2002's Vice City, which [1:37] I think is actually closer to the 1980s [1:40] than we are to it. Oh my god. This seeks [1:43] to reassure us that GTA 6 does not [1:45] reject its past, but but revels in it, [1:48] despite all the fears that a decade of [1:50] uh staffing changes and the world [1:52] seemingly slipping beyond parody may [1:55] have made this Grand Theft Auto a little [1:56] too different from its predecessors. [2:01] In panel two, we have our protagonists, [2:03] Jason Dval and Lucia Caminos. As stated [2:06] on the Rockstar website, Jason grew up [2:08] around grifters and crooks. After a [2:10] stint in the army trying to shake off [2:12] his troubled teens, he found himself in [2:14] the Keys doing what he knows best, [2:16] working for local drug runners. His [2:18] girlfriend and apparent partner in [2:20] crime, if the trailers are anything to [2:21] go by, is Lucia. Uh the Rockstar website [2:24] explains that fighting for her family [2:26] landed her in the Leonida Penitentiary. [2:28] Lucia's learned her lesson. Only smart [2:31] moves from here. Uh, she can be seen in [2:33] this panel holding a pistol [2:35] shortbarreled, vaguely similar to the [2:37] SNS pistol M2, which doesn't necessarily [2:40] seem like a smart move, but if Grand [2:42] Theft Auto has taught us anything over [2:44] the years, it's that true entrepreneurs [2:46] don't practice responsible gun [2:48] ownership. [2:51] In panel three, this daredevil is [2:54] pulling a wheelie on a vibrant sports [2:56] motorcycle. Uh, the bike itself appears [2:58] to be a Prawn Seep Alvino V1. I don't [3:01] know if I'm saying that right. a new [3:02] model for GTA 6 that we first saw in a [3:05] screenshot of Jason released in May [3:07] 2025. But where Jason's ride was green, [3:11] this guy's mounted on a mechanical [3:13] stallion painted in synth waveesque [3:15] shades of pink and purple. There's that [3:17] theme again. The bike is also adorned [3:19] with logos, the sort of livery that [3:21] makes you wonder what level of forts [3:23] arrivaling customization will be [3:25] available at the local Vice City custom [3:27] shop. This bike also sits in the same [3:29] panel that featured a motorbike on Vice [3:31] City's cover, which back in 2002 was a [3:34] big deal since it was the first GTA, the [3:37] first 3D GTA to feature motorcycles. And [3:40] motorcycles being something you ride. [3:42] Perhaps this is a nod to the fact that [3:43] this is the first GTA to feature [3:45] protagonists that ride each other. No. [3:49] Driving alongside the bike, lights [3:51] flashing, and sirens, no doubt [3:53] shrieking, is a vapid police cruiser. [3:56] Yeah, it's really vapid. loves [3:57] Cassabian. This interceptor vehicle is [4:00] one of the most common law enforcement [4:01] cars on the streets of GTA 5's Los [4:04] Santos. It's had a slight facelift since [4:06] we last saw it, but it's the same Bobby [4:08] Mobile you love to hate. Bobby Bobby [4:11] Mobile. Bobby Bobby Mobile. [4:15] In panel 4, there's a character that we [4:17] don't think we've seen before. [4:18] Replicating the original Vice City [4:20] cover, we have a mystery woman in a [4:22] bikini enjoying a drink. Like the blonde [4:24] woman seen on the cover of GTA 5, she [4:27] may not actually play a part in the [4:29] story. Who knows? We'll have to wait to [4:30] find out if she's a vital part of Jason [4:33] Lucia's social circle. What we can [4:35] deduce, though, is that she's a fan of [4:37] the Leonida version of the Miami [4:39] Dolphins NFL team, the Vice City [4:41] Manatees, as the turquoise color of the [4:43] jersey she's wearing is a very similar [4:46] shade to its real life counterpart. Just [4:48] to be clear, I don't know anything about [4:50] NFL. The only thing I know the Miami [4:52] Dolphins from is Ace Venture, a pet [4:55] detective. And the less said about that [4:57] film, the better. She's also sporting a [4:59] tattoo on her side that reads Vice Baby, [5:02] suggesting that she was born and raised [5:04] in the area, also suggesting she's got a [5:05] terrible taste in rappers. She also [5:07] sports a 305 tattoo on her wrist, which [5:10] is the real world area code for Miami. [5:12] The chain around her neck says, [5:14] >> "Welcome to how to pronounce." [5:16] >> Let's say it all together. [5:19] The chain around our neck says cmpre, [5:21] which is Spanish for always. This [5:24] probably doesn't tell us anything except [5:25] that this person likes to adorn herself [5:27] with the Latino equivalent of live, [5:29] laugh, love, but we're committed to [5:31] giving you the facts. So, elsewhere in [5:34] the panel, we can see she's been sipping [5:36] on what looks like a parody of the hard [5:38] seltza drink, White Claw. We can't see [5:40] the full name of it, but the word Thaw [5:42] is prominent. It remains to be seen if [5:44] this new fictional beverage is as body [5:46] as Sprunk. [5:48] sprunk. Behind her is the atal bar and [5:51] grill, an establishment we've not seen [5:52] before in any trailers, or the original [5:54] GTA V city. It may be nothing, just a [5:57] low-key riff on Miami's many beachfront [5:59] tiki bars. Or this could be a prominent [6:02] location in the game. Places like this [6:04] are peppered throughout the series as [6:06] quest giving locations. This place [6:08] doesn't have the cozy Italian charm of [6:09] Marco's beastro, but you're probably a [6:11] lot less likely to get car bombed there, [6:13] cuz people don't usually park right on [6:15] the beach. [6:20] On panel five, there exists something we [6:22] didn't ever expect to see adorn the [6:24] cover of a Grand Theft Auto game. An [6:27] alligator complete with a giant toothy [6:29] mob that you'd swear was smiling at the [6:31] audience if it weren't for the simple [6:32] biological fact that no alligators [6:35] cannot smile and do not even understand [6:37] the concept of smiling. This chomping [6:40] reptile is of course given pride of [6:43] place on the cover to represent the [6:44] grass rivers area of GTA 6's gargantuan [6:48] new map. But we know their native [6:50] wetlands are likely not the only place [6:52] we'll encounter alligators. All the way [6:54] back in trailer 1, we got a glimpse of [6:56] CCTV style footage showing such a [6:58] reptile getting ejected from a [7:00] convenience store in one of the games [7:02] many slice of life parodies of Realworld [7:05] Florida. Does this suggest we'll be [7:07] hunting gators as a side activity in the [7:10] new game? Perhaps removing them from [7:11] places they shouldn't be. Maybe we'll [7:13] get one as a pet. That's a reach, but so [7:16] was female protagonist about 10 years [7:18] ago. So, who knows? [7:24] Over on panel six is Booby Ike, a m [7:30] a music producer and owner of the Jack [7:32] of Hearts Strip Club featured in the [7:34] trailers. Rockstar's website says that [7:36] Booby is all smiles. [7:39] Booby is all smiles until it's time to [7:41] talk business. I think it's fair to say [7:43] we'll be working both with and against [7:45] him over the course of GTA 6's story. He [7:48] just gives off that sort of rockstar [7:50] protagonist who will definitely betray [7:52] you sort of vibe. Either way, I can't [7:54] take anyone seriously with a name you [7:56] can write backwards on a calculator to [7:58] amuse your mates who are also 12. [8:04] Over on panel seven, we have the [8:06] requisite obscenely expensive motor. The [8:09] bottom left panel is reserved for a [8:10] glorious bright yellow supercar with [8:13] scissor doors. This is almost certainly [8:14] a brand new model from Pagasi, the GT [8:17] Universe's high-end Italian automotive [8:19] company. We've actually seen this car [8:21] before in a vibrant lime green prowling [8:23] the streets of Vice City in both the [8:25] first and second GTA 6 trailers. Very [8:28] likely inspired by the Lamborghini [8:30] Aventador. This Pagasi is likely the in [8:33] universe successor to the Infernace, [8:35] which was based on the Aventador's own [8:37] predecessor, the Merchilago. It's also [8:39] another nod back to the original Vice [8:41] City cover art, which featured a yellow [8:42] Infernace, which was that game's version [8:44] of the classic 1980s Lamborghini [8:47] Countach. [8:52] Over on panel eight, we've got Raul [8:53] Batista, the final character with the [8:55] honor of gracing the cover, a seasoned [8:58] bank robber, always on the hunt for [9:00] talent, ready to take the risks that [9:01] bring the biggest rewards, as described [9:03] on the Rockstar website. He's holding a [9:06] Duke assault rifle. Interestingly, this [9:08] is a weapons manufacturer from the Red [9:10] Dead Redemption universe, giving a rare [9:12] hint that Rockstar's two big franchises [9:15] might share a consistent reality. Other [9:18] Duke guns can be clocked in previous [9:20] trailers. He's standing in front of the [9:22] Sinfronta National Bank. A pretty [9:25] unsuttle, you might say, floodlit hint [9:27] that at some point in GTA 6's story, [9:30] we'll be robbing the place, as is [9:32] tradition. Incidentally, Sinfronta in [9:34] Spanish translates as without borders, [9:37] which we can speculate is Rockstar [9:39] rather suggesting that if you aren't [9:41] excited for more single player heist [9:43] missions, then you should probably see a [9:45] doctor. We can speculate that though it [9:48] doesn't stop it being some bollocks have [9:49] just made up. [9:54] Over on panel 9 in yet another nostalgic [9:56] nod back to the original Vice City [9:58] cover. We have a top-own view of a boat [10:00] cruising through the Miamiike waters. [10:02] Here we see a group of people riding in [10:04] a Clarion speedboat, the same brand of [10:06] water vehicle that can be seen zooming [10:08] past the cargo ship in the first trailer [10:11] for GTA 6. Above them flies a flamingo, [10:14] suggesting that they're sailing near [10:15] Leonid's equivalent of the Everglades, [10:17] the grass rivers, as this is typically [10:19] where the wading birds are to be found, [10:22] eating shrimp while standing on one leg. [10:25] Cuz that's that's their thing. They [10:27] stand on one leg and they eat shrimp. [10:30] That's their big USP. Listen, flamingos [10:33] are sh flamingos are stupid, right? The [10:36] Cardiff seagull can steal an entire [10:38] baby, but nobody singles that out for [10:40] praise. Look, if you enjoyed all that, [10:42] check out my playlist on IGN. It's [10:45] called the Trinker Perspective, where [10:46] they keep letting me make stuff like [10:48] this. By all means, let us know below if [10:50] you've missed something. Keep it IGN. [10:52] And remember, above all, remain calm. [10:57] Who the's texting me?
