[0:06] last 2 weeks hunting down the five
[0:09] bestselling models compared their design
[0:11] features and build quality side by side
[0:15] but in all honesty I would only consider
[0:17] these

[0:22] two so in 2025 starting a podcast has
[0:26] become even more popular than before and
[0:29] whether the are a beginner or looking to
[0:31] upgrade the gear you already have these
[0:34] five budget podcast microphones are the
[0:36] ones I would have a look at to kick
[0:38] things off let's jump straight into a
[0:40] sound test comparison starting off with
[0:43] the Elgato wave DX I have this
[0:46] microphone set up around 3 in from my
[0:48] mouth and this is what this microphone
[0:51] sounds like moving on to the road pod
[0:54] mic I currently have this microphone set
[0:56] up around 3 in from my mouth and this is
[0:59] what this microphone sounds like next we
[1:02] have the Audio Technica at 2040 set up
[1:05] and ready to go I have the capsule
[1:07] around 2 to 3 in from my mouth and this
[1:10] is what this microphone sounds like I
[1:13] now have the mayona PD 300X set up and
[1:16] ready to go with the capsule around 3 in
[1:19] from my mouth and this is what this
[1:22] microphone sounds like finally I have
[1:25] the fine K 688 microphone set up and
[1:28] ready to go I have the capsule about 3
[1:30] in from my mouth and this is what this
[1:33] microphone sounds like now having a
[1:36] listen to that sound test comparison all
[1:38] five of these microphones sound really
[1:41] good but before we decide on which
[1:42] sounds best there's still a lot more
[1:44] details we need to consider the algado
[1:47] wave DX is highly rated on Amazon at the
[1:49] budget $70 price tag it offers a solid
[1:52] metal build the design is clean and
[1:55] compact but compared to some of these
[1:57] other models the sound quality is okay
[1:59] and overall it actually lacks quite a
[2:01] few features in some instances the same
[2:04] can be said for the at 2040 and the Pod
[2:07] mic at $99 the Audio Technica at 2040
[2:11] offers a similar feel to the Elgato but
[2:14] in terms of build quality and sound
[2:16] quality it's a step up for me regarding
[2:18] the Pod mic this microphone is by far
[2:21] the most popular XLR option under $100
[2:24] on Amazon I think the fact that this
[2:26] microphone looks better than the other
[2:28] two offers a rock sof build and
[2:30] ultimately offers a fuller better
[2:32] balanced sound it's clear why this pod
[2:35] mic can be spotted in many setups now
[2:38] the fine fine K 688 and Mayo pd300 X is
[2:42] actually quite an interesting comparison
[2:45] offering both a USB and XLR option and
[2:48] at $70 there is a reason over 2,000 K
[2:51] 688 microphones are sold each month but
[2:55] meono recently released the similar
[2:57] looking pd300 X and in terms of weight
[3:00] and build quality it's definitely a step
[3:03] up from the K 688 I mean the F fine is
[3:06] at a great price point but once you have
[3:08] the Mayo running through its software
[3:10] and you've tweaked a few settings it
[3:12] just sounds so much better than the fine
[3:15] even just the podcasting setting in the
[3:18] software is a big step up now I think
[3:21] it's pretty clear which two microphones
[3:23] I would consider for a budget podcast
[3:25] setup in 2025 if you're looking for an
[3:28] XLR option only the Pod mic is a Nob
[3:31] brainer and if you're looking for both
[3:33] USB and XLR options the PD 300X is as
[3:37] good as it's going to get under $100
