## Summary

The video is a detailed explanation of the book 'The Almanack of Naval Ravikant' by Vaibhav Kadnar, focusing on five principles for building wealth and achieving happiness. It emphasizes the difference between money and wealth, the importance of specific knowledge, leverage, accountability, judgment, playing long-term games, and the pursuit of happiness.

### Key Points

- **Introduction: The Journey from Job to Asset** [00:01] — The speaker shares his personal story of being underpaid in June 2022, then building an asset by December 2022 that earns him lakhs monthly, attributing this shift to the book.
- **Wealth vs Money** [00:56] — Wealth is assets that earn while you sleep, like a YouTube channel or dividend stocks. Money is an exchange mechanism where you trade time for money. Most people are trapped in the time-for-money trap.
- **The Status Trap** [02:29] — Middle-class people chase status (iPhone, car) thinking it's wealth, but it's a misconception. Naval advises against this.
- **Specific Knowledge** [02:53] — Specific knowledge is a unique skill you naturally possess, not taught in school. Example: Fabian Ponckers, founder of Odoo, who used his coding skill to build a billion-dollar company.
- **Identifying Specific Knowledge** [05:08] — Ask yourself: What did you do effortlessly in childhood? What is boring to others but not to you? What unique combination of skills do you have? What advice do friends seek from you?
- **Leverage** [07:13] — Leverage maximizes results with minimal effort. Three types: labor (employees), capital (money working for you), and code/media (create once, sell infinite times).
- **Accountability** [10:35] — Taking responsibility for your actions and taking risks in your own name. It brings credit on success and blame on failure, but is necessary for wealth.
- **Salary vs Equity Mindset** [11:53] — Salary-based thinking is linear and survival-focused. Equity-based thinking focuses on ownership and long-term gains, like hospital owners benefiting from doctors.
- **Judgment** [13:13] — Good decision-making is crucial. If you can't decide, the answer is no. Avoid dumb mistakes, use mental models, and consider long-term consequences.
- **Play Long-Term Games** [15:16] — All returns in life come from compound interest. Warren Buffett made 99% of his wealth after 50. Find the 1% of your efforts that work and scale it.
- **Happiness as a Skill** [17:38] — Happiness is a personal skill that can be learned. It comes from being present, not from external success. Hacks: reduce alcohol, sugar, social media detox, sleep, exercise, and surround yourself with positive people.
- **Acceptance** [19:33] — In any situation, you have three choices: change it, accept it, or leave it. Pain comes from doing none.

### Conclusion

The video concludes that most people remain poor due to their choices and unwillingness to step out of their comfort zone. It encourages viewers to take responsibility for their financial destiny and start building wealth through specific knowledge, leverage, and long-term thinking.

## Transcript

But this is one such book in my life which taught me the science of earning money. In June 2022, I was working somewhere and I was getting paid barely enough to survive. Like you, I also used to think that brother, if I get a good job then my
realized that if I just kept working, I would never become a rich person. Those big dreams that I always had since childhood were probably not going to come true with any job. But exactly 6 months later, in December 2022, I had my
own asset which even today earns me lakhs of rupees every month and this book has a major contribution behind this shift in my life because this book rich people do not want us to know. So if you give me the next 15 minutes,
I'll show you five dark principles that will help you take control of your financial destiny like me. There is also a bonus point at the end of the video which even the rich people of the world crave for.
So let's start with breaking your first illusion that money equals wealth. Tell me one thing, if Mukesh Ambani stops going to his office from tomorrow morning, will his money stop coming? no way. But what if you stop going to the office tomorrow morning
? Obviously your salary will be stopped. This is the difference between wealth and money. Middle class people like us always think that wealth means money. But think that wealth means money. But
Wealth is nothing but assets that you earn while you sleep. This means that wealth is something that makes you earn money 247. Whether you are working or not. For example, this YouTube channel of mine, whether I am sleeping at night, doing some work or
not doing any work or even travelling. My videos keep getting views which generates a consistent income. So in this way my channel became my asset. Similarly, if you have a business in which your team is working for you
or even if there is a stock which is giving dividend then that is your asset or wealth which earns for you. But if we look at the concept of money directly opposite to wealth, it is just an exchange mechanism. Where you earn money in exchange for your time. That
means you are trading your time for money. For example, you work 9 hours daily in a company and earn a specific amount monthly. Now here, the day you stop giving your time, you will also stop getting money. And this is the
trap in which more than 80% of the people of India are trapped. And what makes this situation even worse is something that is the enemy of every middle class man. Which is status? Status means obsession for something that makes
us look a little rich in the society. Like iPhone, car or branded accessories. People have a huge misconception that their iPhone will make them look rich. But the same people are struggling to pay the monthly EMI of the phone. The first thing that Naval has told in this book is
people coming from middle class families always keep chasing status thinking that it is probably wealth. Now, if you want to break this rut and free yourself from the 80% of Indians
who are always caught between financial management and survival, then you will have to identify your specific knowledge. But what is this specific knowledge after all? Have you seen that movie Chandni Chowk to China? There is not a single dialogue in it
that I am not threatened by those 10,000 moves that you have practiced once. But I'm threatened by that one move you've practiced 10,000 times. So in this dialogue, that one move of Akshay Kumar was his specific knowledge which no other person can copy.
Naval says that society can train you for something. So she will train someone else for the same thing. Who is going to replace you someday in the future. gone a little over your head, then I will
people and learned coding and got a good job. But if in a few months your company finds a candidate who codes better than you, then indirectly you will become replaceable there. That's why develop your specific knowledge.
unique skill that you naturally possess. This knowledge is not taught to you in school. You have to find it yourself. And a perfect example of this is Fabian Ponckers. India's biggest business and tech event Odoo Community Days in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
A guy came on stage here. Normal shirt, simple shoes, no show off. People were thinking, come on, there must be a coordinator. But when it was revealed that his net worth was $4 billion, the entire halt was silent. Do you know why this man
he understood his specific knowledge which was coding. Since childhood, he was naturally inclined towards coding. They were not taught this in school. He used to learn coding by reading books on his own. And he started Udu from his small room.
An app where you can fulfill all your business needs. Whether it's invoicing, accounting, everything in one place. And look what happened today. Today it is one of the biggest companies in the world. But even today the guy is so
down to earth that when he was in India, he used to When I was talking to Fabian recently, a line he said has stuck in my mind. Money will chase you once the world trusts your value. So check out Udu. The
share it with any friend who wants to build his own startup. So basically this is the power of specific knowledge. When you leverage your unique skills. Money automatically follows you. So friend, what could this specific knowledge be
? This could be something you have been doing effortlessly since childhood. You may see examples of some specific knowledge given in this book on your screen. If you also want to identify your specific knowledge, then Novel Ravikant
says that specific knowledge is found by pursuing your genuine curiosity and passion rather than whatever is in hot trend right now, meaning the thing which you find genuinely interesting, while doing which you do not even realize the time, which is fun for you
but work for others, that is your specific knowledge. If I talk about myself, brother, I really liked consuming content. I have always been watching educational content. listening to business studies and exploring technology and trends.
's style, their editing pattern, thumbnail strategy, everything. In fact, in my early days, I used to upload many BTS of my shoots on this channel. you will definitely find all those videos. And this is the combination of my life:
storytelling plus business knowledge plus platform understanding. This became my specific knowledge. So to identify your specific knowledge, What did you do effortlessly in your childhood? Maybe you were that kid who loved to keep the car completely open in childhood
or the one who was the After that comes question number two. What is something that might be boring to others but is n't boring to you? You
do it with full heart and enjoyment. After that question number three is what is your unique combination skills plus regional language fluency, then you can become a regional food content creator plus video editing, then you can become a fashion influencer.
After that comes question number four. What advice do your friends consistently ask you for? If everyone takes tech advice from you, then you have the potential to become a tech reviewer. If you want relationship advice, you can become a dating coach.
So when you give honest answers to these questions, you will get your specific knowledge. please tell me your unique combination in the comments. I will try to take some time to tell you about your potential career. Now see, nothing will happen just by knowing specific knowledge.
work on this alone, you will earn money by selling your time. Just like a laborer. But to actually build wealth you need the next principle which is position of leverage. Just look at the square that appears on your screen.
one X in the small corner at the bottom left is you. And that was exactly me a few years ago. The small square there up to 10,000 x is the result of your hard work which you get now. Which is obviously too low for you. But if you
want 10,000x then you will have to take help of leverage here in which you will put in efforts of just 1x but will get results of 10,000x. But remember, 95% of you will never reach this 10,000X. Now why am I
multiplier of your efforts. If I explain it to you in very simple words, then leverage means maximizing your results by putting in minimum effort. Have you ever wondered why a YouTuber reaches millions of people by making a single video, and why
a teacher, after putting in so much hard work, teaches only 40 students ? Now here why is there a difference in the results of both? Because Uber has a leverage here. You can also call leverage a system that you build
major types of leverage have been discussed which are very important to understand. Number one labor leverage. It has a simple meaning. Other people work for you like employees work for their boss. But Naval calls this leverage one of the oldest and most
we have to face many problems. Such as management headache, HR issues, office politics, resignations etc. Plus, another thing that comes into it is that you have to become a leader. And honestly, most of the people are not natural leaders.
So before hiring others, think whether you can handle them. If not, then perhaps the second leverage will be beneficial for you which is capital leverage. In this your money works for you. Stock market, real estate,
investments, all this is capital leverage. Now if you want to become wealthy just through investment, then I have recently made a video on this topic in which practical results. Later, go and watch this video by clicking on the i button
And now let's come to Naval Ravikant's favorite type of leverage which is code and media leverage. Now to simplify it further, let's leverage meaning software. That means make something once that people need and
sell it infinite times. Mark Zburg created Facebook and today 3 billion users are infrastructure has already been built then the extra cost on every new user is almost zero. And the second category is media leverage i.e. content. Such as books, videos,
podcasts and blogs. You can build wealth with their help also. Now take my example. I am making this video only once. But millions of people will see this. My hard work has always been the same. Whether 100 people are watching or 1 lakh people. But the
output of results keeps increasing in numbers. And That's How You Can Use Three Leverages to Build Wealth. But before that you will have to understand what phase you are in in life. If you are working somewhere then you are in a phase where
your time. If you are freelancing then you are in the second phase. Which is quite better than the first one. You can hire other freelancers for your work for less money And after this comes phase number three which is about owning a
small shop and a business. Here you can try labor leverage but avoid hiring too many people because that will reduce your profit margins and not as simple as it looks. Because for labor leverage you will need some
people who will listen to you. After that, in capital leverage, it is very important for people to trust you. in capital leverage, it is very important for people to trust you. And you get all these three things through accountability. Now being accountable
means taking responsibility for your own things or giving your name to your actions. Naval Ravikant says that if you want to become successful and rich then learn to take accountability. Take risks in your own name because when you do,
responsibility, equity, and leverage. But yes, accountability is also a double S sword in which if you are successful then you will get the credit for it. But if you fail, you will be blamed for that too. Here Naval Ravikant
also says about himself that till 2013-2014, his entire public image was only around startups and investing. But after 2014-15, he people from the industry were asking him what work he was doing? So you are ruining your career.
But he still took the risk and today that very thing has become a So now let's come to that brutal test which I mentioned at the beginning of this point. The scalability of these leverages is the lowest. And that's where everyone's
want to master these, then at the end of this video I have told about a free PDF. Do download it. So, these were three principles that will mindset that rich people don't want you to know. The Almanac of Naval Ravikant book
talks about two types of thinking. The first is salary based thinking and the second based thinking is quite linear. Where people just think that the salary will come on the 1st of the month and I will spend it like this. Basically
these people live in their survival phase only. The only thing that keeps going on in the minds of these people is that they have to go to office on Monday. Will have to wait for the increment. The boss did not give promotion. But on the exact opposite end of the spectrum come
people with equity-based thinking. They never consider their efforts or time. The only thing on their mind is doctor who studied for 10 years and is now treating patients in a hospital.
His starting salary will probably be Rs 5,000 and his peak salary will be achieved But the owners who own that hospital will come into equity based thinking. And that owner will benefit from every doctor working in his hospital.
new. Look, everyone says that it is important to have a business mindset. But still we are not able to develop our mindset. know why? We have not been taught in school that if you get good marks you will get a good job. Our parents have
Life is set. Our society told us that Sharma ji's son gets a package of Rs 50 lakh in Google. But did anyone tell you that son, start your own business , we will invest. Probably very few parents will say this because there is a fear in our mind
that what if the business goes bankrupt ? Our mind always tries to avoid that loss. our goal is to change this mindset and fear. about judgment, which is personally my favorite point too. There are many such moments in our life
unable to take a decision. And the lives of many people are destroyed because they are not able to take the right choices in their life at the right time. This very thing has been mentioned in this book also. If you cannot make decisions, you will never become a rich person.
cannot make decisions, you will never become a rich person. when you do not consider the long term consequences of your action for any of your problems, then it is about the long term results of anything before doing it, then it is not called judgment.
And to be a good decision maker, you need to know these three things. If you can't decide the answer is always no. The biggest decisions of my life like should I marry him?
Such decisions will impact your life in the long term. So if you are confused while deciding these, then your answer should always be no. Avoiding any wrong thing is always greater than making the correct guess. Because great decision makers are
predict the future. Rather, there are those people who avoid such dumb mistakes. Whatever past experiences you have in your life, never take decisions based on them that if this happened yesterday then the same thing will probably happen today too. It is better that you take decisions based on mental models.
Mental models are basically like a toolkit that helps you analyze a situation. For example, Game 3 shows how people will behave in different situations. why people naturally compete and adapt. Economics explains
adapt. Economics explains So that you can understand every decision deeply and make a better choice. not have any magic. They are also like us. But the only difference is
that they think outside their comfort zone. They take such decisions which give them profit in the long term and that is why they become rich. Once you start taking the right decisions, the fear inside you that
what will I do if I lose something will also go away. And with just this you can easily grow your mindset. And now comes the last principle, if we remove it then all the principles till now will be of no use. Play long term games. Look, it takes
time to make anything. But this time is more when you are people have no patience. Due to social media, editing apps, fast delivery, addicted to instant gratification. And
us to invest our efforts in any valuable thing for a long time. trust me, when your efforts start compounding, you will be the one to benefit the most. In fact, Naval says that all the returns in life whether in wealth,
relationships and knowledge come from compound interest. Take the example of Warren Buffett. People think he's a genius investor. But the truth is that he is a patient investor. His net worth is more than $100 billion as of today. But before he
turned 50, his net worth was less than $1 billion. This means that he has created 99% of his wealth after the age of 50. 33.8 billion at 60 years of age , 36 billion at 70, 65 billion at 80 years and 100 plus billion at 90 years. But 99.9% of people would have
Buffett had given up when he was 50, he wouldn't have $100 billion today. videos in which I told how I completely disappeared for 180 days and how I built this channel after that, then you will
easily understand this concept of long term play. Naval says that when you find the 1% of your discipline which will not be wasted which you will be able to invest in for the rest of your life and has the meaning to you go all in and
forget about the rest. Basically 99% of your efforts will be wasted. But when you find that 1% that actually works, use it to scale. And remember, you will have to be patient and consistent until you get that 1%.
also Shri Krishna ji has said the same thing that you should keep doing your work. Never worry about the results. So to build your future wealth, just have faith in whatever you do and never quit it easily. Before starting your journey,
keep this mindset that I will become a long term player. Because this is the one simple thing that makes us different from rich and successful people. So, these were the changed my entire perspective on money making. And now let's see that bonus point that
even the richest people in the world crave for. Which is happiness? You will always find two types of people in our society. There are some who will say that happiness can be who do not need money to be happy. But actually,
if we go according to this book, then Naval Ravikant says that yes, money is very important to be happy. But this is a small part of your happiness. He says that happiness is a highly personal skill that can be learned.
But we Indians do n't even know how to be happy properly. Our happiness always depends on external things. Whereas real happiness is learned within. The problem here is that our brain has become a survival machine. And the
what is the next step? And where will the money come from? How will the next deal be closed? And this constant missing feeling eats away our happiness. Naval has said in this book that when that missing feeling disappears from your life then you come into the present moment. No
regrets about the past, no tension about the future, just this present moment, this is real happiness. Now everyone's definition of happiness can be different. But if you think success equals happiness then you are wrong. Yes, it is definitely true that in today's date,
everyone in the world is chasing success and keeping themselves in the illusion that they will be happy only when they get success. But Naval says that success often comes from distraction in which you think that I want more, I have to
achieve more. But this does not mean that you should give up on success. You need to build your happiness skills, which you can do with these simple hacks. Number one, consume less alcohol so that your mood remains stable. Number two, eat less sugar, which will
reduce your anxiety. Number three, do a social media detox so that your mind remains calm. And lastly, proper sleep, proper food and a little exercise. These things are a must for your sustainable happiness and the biggest hack is to change the people around you. Nawal
says that a person becomes what his five closest friends are. Think, if there are negative people in your circle then you will also become like that. But if your circle is positive, grateful and motivated then you will automatically become like them. But here there will be
some people who will say that I follow all these hacks. But still I am not happy. And that's why acceptance comes. In every situation of life, you have three choices. Number one change it. If possible,
take action. Number two accept it. If you cannot change something, accept it peacefully. And number three leave it. If you can't tolerate something, then leave it. Because as a person, we feel the most pain when we neither
change nor accept nor leave. Just get stuck in overthinking. any situation or any materialistic thing. Just things. In the end, I will just say that
business leaders can make money, make a name , build empires. But the real victory is of the person who can say at the end of the day that I am happy today. Now look, despite this advice of mine, more than 90% of you will never be
able to become rich. Because most people remain poor because of their choices. It is not aware of the options today. But people do not take such decisions which bring changes in their lives. And the main reason for this is that they never want to come out of their comfort zone.
that taking risks seems impossible to them. And society 's expectations have become so heavy that even pursuing specific knowledge seems selfish. But remember it is you who is supposed to be responsible for your own
situation, not your family or your society. And if you want to be among the 10% who actually start your business right now. And to proper management system, billing, inventory, accounting, everything should be organized.
Exactly what Fab did. First organized my business systematically and then scaled it. So check out Odoo the same platform that Fabian built which is worth billions today. is in the description below. If you seriously want to start a business, then
share it with any friend who wants to start his own startup. We will meet in the next video. Till then, keep hustling, keep learning and as always keep hustling, keep learning and as always keep inspiring.
