[00:01] floodgates with the launch of Frontier, the beta version of mainet going live in early December, as well as pre-eposits for USDM opening this week. And with an estimated $100 million in ecosystem rewards on the table, there is no better [00:15] time than right now to jump into Mega ETH. So, in today's video, we're going Mega ETH is, how it's different from the thousand other chains that are out there, and how I plan on maximizing my returns for those ecosystem rewards. [00:30] Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to another Cryptogorilla video. As usual, I am not a financial adviser. I also invested in two different rounds for Mega E, but all opinions are my own. If you appreciate this content, hit the [00:42] subscribe button and let's jump right into today's video. Now, the number one criticism I hear for any new chain is, do we really need another layer 2? To which I'd say, Mega ETH is not built like any other layer 2. Traditional L2s [00:56] are affected by Ethereum's traffic. When Ethereum gets busy, their fees spike, and the amount of activity that they can handle has a ceiling. Picture a race between all the different L2s. However, they all have a rope tied between them [01:09] and Ethereum. No matter how fast they try to run, Ethereum's congestion always slows them down. Mega ETH does not have this constraint. It's able to break away from the pack, especially when Ethereum is clogged. Now, the idea for the [01:22] technology behind me actually came from a blog post written by Vitalic Buterine, the original founder of Ethereum, who is also an early investor in Meg. And then the Megath team took inspiration from that blog post and built a chain that is [01:37] very different from the L2s that we have today. And they did this through a few different technological innovations or changes. The first of which are node specialization. Now instead of every node doing every job, Mega splits the [01:50] workload between four types of node. There's the sequencer node, the replica nodes, the full nodes, and the prover nodes. Every node has a specific job that it does extremely well. The second change they made is a high-speed data [02:06] layer. Now, most L2s have to push their data through Ethereum. This is what slows them down and spikes their fees. In my race example from earlier, Mega ETH avoids that bottleneck by using its own data layer powered by Igen DA. Now, [02:20] the trade-off here is you're trusting IENDA to stay online and to continue sharing the data. While your funds would still be safe if the data layer went down, the chain would temporarily freeze. Now, Mega E isn't the only layer [02:34] 2 to have an external data layer. However, it is the only one doing this while pushing for realtime performance. And they do this through what they call mini blocks. On most L2s, transactions get bundled into larger batches before [02:49] they're processed and posted to Ethereum. This is that step that slows bottleneck by updating continuously through what they call mini blocks. These are what give users real-time responsiveness while the bigger blocks [03:03] settle in the background. Now, the fourth thing that sets Mega E apart is its revenue model. Because Mega E doesn't need to post all of its data to Ethereum, its operating costs are much cheaper and remain stable. However, [03:15] unlike other chains who charge you a markup on your transactions in order to earn revenue, Mega E does not earn a penny on your transactions. Instead, they're earning revenues through their native stable coin, USDM. Now, USDM is a [03:30] stable coin created in partnership with Athena Labs, and it's backed by tokenized US treasuries that earn a yield. Now, depending on the type of short, medium, or long-term, they're going to earn an interest rate of [03:43] roughly 4% per year. And if they end up filling out the upcoming pre-eposits of $250 million, this would put them at roughly $10 million per year in yield or in revenues that they're earning, which [03:57] per month is roughly $833,000, which when we compare this to the other top 40 chains in the revenue that they're bringing in per year, they would be right between Hyperlid and Polygon. So even before going live with their [04:12] mainet, they would be the top eight chain out there in terms of yearly revenue. Now on top of a native stable coin, they also have a native token called Mega, which they did four raises for, three of which were public, where [04:26] for, three of which were public, where in the last one they had a whopping $1.4 billion in deposits. So people were really eager to get in on this. Now, a few different use cases. One of which is it's going to be the gas token used [04:40] to pay gas fees. It's going to be a staking mechanism for security. It's going to be used for governance and for ecosystem incentives. Now, it's important to note that the stable coin USDM, although it does earn a yield, [04:54] that yield doesn't go to you for holding the stable coin. So, you might ask like, what's the incentive here to put money in the pre-eposit and lock up that liquidity if I'm not going to be earning a yield? for which the answer is [05:07] tokconomics, we know that they're giving away 2.5% of their token supply in a mainet reward campaign. And if we go look at the FAQ for predeposits, you can [05:19] see predepositors will get consideration towards the rewards campaign. Now, there seems to be a few different campaigns. We haven't heard much about the bonus campaign uh that they're supposed to have where the top 5,000 participants [05:34] are going to earn up to 2x the allocation of their investment. This was supposed to be according to the white paper for 30 days when mainet launches. But during the mainet beta, this is not happening. Instead, although it can [05:47] still count for this, I think it's going to be considered in the 6 to 8month reward campaign that they're going to run once mainet is officially live. Now, personally, I'm really excited for the rewards campaign because 2.5% at the [06:01] current price that it's trading at, which is roughly 4 billion FTV, is $100 million. So, there's $100 million in rewards that you're able to earn. And like I said, I invested in two of the rounds. So, I have a vested interest in [06:15] Mega E doing well, but in participating in the ecosystem and helping it grow. So, personally, I do plan on putting money in the pre-eposit bridge. It is going live very soon on November 25th. It is first come, first serve, so this [06:30] quick, for all I know, it won't fill up. I think it's going to fill up, but I could be wrong. And unfortunately, if you didn't sign up to the Sonar round, participate because it's reserved for people who already registered and it's [06:44] KYC with some restricted countries. Now, I wouldn't worry about missing this. There's going to be a ton of opportunities to earn rewards in this ecosystem. I think the best way is going to be just by using the chain. So, [06:57] there's a ton of apps out there that you're able to use. The chain itself is focused on real time. So, when you click something, it immediately happens, which cool apps. We're going to get like high frequency trading apps. We're going to [07:11] get onchain gaming that is just insanely quick. And if all goes well with the mainet, this is going to be a great place for builders. So, I hope they attract some of the best in the business and I'm going to be making a ton of [07:24] apps that are available. I think the biggest setback right now for a lot of you watching is most people have no idea where to even start on Mega E because a lot of the apps are either you need an access code, they're coming soon, or [07:39] they're on weight list. So, you can't even test them out. If we filter here by live, there's only seven that are currently live with even some of these, literally nothing you can do on the website. Now, if you're wondering what [07:53] something I'm launching, which is going to go over ecosystems and guide you and a ton of different cool features we're going to have. We're going to have guides for every single tool on Mega ETH, so definitely worth checking out. [08:08] codes. If you made it to the end of the Topstrike, which if you play this game on testnet, they have already confirmed there are going to be mainet rewards. You're going to get free packs on [08:21] in. It's on test net, so it's costing you $0. Buy some players and, you know, earn rewards on mainet. I'll put this link in the description down below. If it runs out, I'll try to get more from the team so more people can enter. But, [08:35] cover a ton of stuff. I'll also be covering a lot of it in my videos as usual through video tutorials. So, if you haven't already done so, make sure like button while you're down there. YouTube really likes that. Thank you for [08:48] watching another Cryptogorilla video. Peace.
