[00:02] worst marketing promos for a film, at least in the last decade. It is so out of touch, painfully out of touch. It comes from Warner Bros. for their upcoming film End of Oak Street, which is the Ewan McGregor and Hathaway movie [00:17] where they're suddenly isekai'd away into a dinosaur villa and now they're on the run from dinosaurs in the neighborhood. And with the release of the film only a few days away, Warner Bros. decided to start drug [00:30] jugging lead paint and hatch to diabolical stupid marketing idea where they teamed up with an AI dog podcast, which is not a very popular podcast, by the way. I don't even know how they found it. I think this is very [00:47] enlightening onto the into the insight of the people that run these companies like at the top of the food chain, the top brass, the this the suited zombies there. That I think someone in that department, the marketing department, [00:59] must have been a fan of this AI dog podcast and pushed through this collab, this promo where in the movie End of Oak Street, there's a dog there called Starbuck. So, they team up with this AI [01:13] dog podcast to interview an AI version of that dog in their movie to promote >> Today's guest ran from dinosaurs and helped save his human co-stars. Please welcome Starbuck from The End of Oak Street. Thanks, guys. It's nice to [01:28] finally speak with interviewers who understand the craft. Starbuck, which of your human co-stars was the best trained? Ewan McGregor was excellent there, but she could scratch behind both ears at once. GAME OVER. [01:42] ears at once. GAME OVER. >> [laughter] watch this are lesser. Like genuinely, whoever at Warner Bros. happened to be like a a fan over there clapping like seals at the AI dog podcast [01:57] is they are not fit for their position. Like just straight up. This was the most easily predictable backlash with this promo here. Nobody wants this. Like at all. If their marketing came out and said, [02:14] You're guaranteed to contract syphilis when watching it." That wouldn't have when watching it." That wouldn't have been as detrimental to the film as this AI collab with the dog podcast has been. [02:27] And it's like that Anyone could have told you that, but they're so out of just pulled the trigger on this garbage. And I don't know who this even appeals to because even if you are the most like embarrassing, brain-dead, slop-guzzling [02:42] embarrassing, brain-dead, slop-guzzling AI penis patriot enthusiast imaginable, this is still just trash. It's still just lame. So, like who is it for? just lame. So, like who is it for? I I really don't know. And again, [02:56] the only way they could have even found this AI dog podcast is if someone there, this AI dog podcast is if someone there, some [ __ ] rodent that works in the marketing department pitched it because they were already a fan. They're not a [03:09] big podcast and what they are, from what I can tell on YouTube, is an endless stream, a seemingly 24/7 stream of generative AI content of these two dogs in a podcast setup just spitting nonsense gobbledygook back and forth on [03:23] nonsense gobbledygook back and forth on these stories that are just made up and then they will occasionally post like a small short video from it. But there's five people in this perpetual live stream. They have a good chunk of [03:37] subscribers, but I'm pretty sure it's botted or a purchased account because the viewers aren't there in the live stream. The views are very fishy on their videos where some of the comments feel very artificial, very not [03:52] legitimate. In the stream, there's a couple of comments that I saw that might be from a real lobotomite somewhere out there. Potentially, that's just like like sedated and in like a fugue state. [04:04] talking about how watching this is their daily happy time, which is extraordinarily pathetic and that person needs like professional help ASAP. But, the point is this is not some kind of like big AI dog podcast where it makes [04:19] thought about a collab. This is something they had to go out of their way to even unearth and then decide to do this wacky collab that they've promoted here for their film, which everyone has hated. Obviously, what the [04:34] isn't any publicity is good publicity. It's not. There is such a strong hatred for this kind of garbage, especially for this kind of garbage, especially from a company of Warner Bros' side if [04:46] size, excuse me, with so many millions, billions that they spend on marketing for all of their movies, and now they're just going to do this kind of thing for just going to do this kind of thing for $0 and it's garbage. [05:00] It's It's so It's so weird. Now, the more I look into it, outside of normal social media platforms, apparently this AI dog podcast is popular on its native app, which is DogPack, which is an app about like finding pet-friendly places [05:17] and like dog parks and stuff. You can even see Goldie and Frenchie there, the hosts of the podcast, AI-generated on the on the platform. They've basically become like the mascot. So, I guess it is possible that whoever Warner Bros [05:33] decided to do this happened to be a DogPack app user and I guess really liked the podcast. But, that's such like an insulated community inside of this app, and when you go outside of that, there's not really an audience that is [05:49] there's not really an audience that is salivating for more AI drivel, salivating for more AI drivel, especially not a 24/7 [ __ ] gin AI dog podcast. Like how would you think that's a good [06:01] look for your movie? I like maybe the idea was to appeal directly to people on the Dog Pack app. Uh like let's get the let's get the animal lovers in there. We'll put AI Starbuck in the podcast, the show that we're all watching on Dog [06:16] Pack. That's still a [ __ ] super sucky super suck [ __ ] idea. Like I I I don't know how else to say that. Like this is still so predictable that people >> But you weren't just there for the ear scratches. You did some serious action [06:32] work, too, right? >> Oh, yeah. Running, jumping, dodging dinosaurs. And when things get really bad, I come back to help distract them. So, while the humans panicked, the dog handled it. [06:44] >> Let's say that you're glued to the Dog Pack app, and you're literally just sitting there frothing at the mouth waiting for more Goldie and the mouth waiting for more Goldie and Frenchie AI podcast to to bless you in [06:57] this endless stream of slop. If this came on, the end of Oak Street end of Oak Street end of Oak Street Starbuck collab. [ __ ] mind. Like it still doesn't offer anything about the movie at all. [07:13] Like actually nothing. The only thing it offers is there's a dog in the movie. there's a dog here? Like I I don't see I don't see how that would appeal to even like the Dog Pack users. I feel like that'd be very like [07:28] pandering and very inauthentic, not sincere or genuine. I mean, obviously it's not going to be. It's [ __ ] AI dog podcast. But like even even just setting all of that aside, there is still nothing here like in this [07:42] interview, that gets anyone excited for the film. So, what the [ __ ] was the goal figure it out. >> I had my own five-star treat station, cold water, cooling towels, the full setup. You can't carry a movie on an [07:56] empty stomach. >> [laughter] see it yourself to find out more. to the premiere on August 14th, and we can't wait to see you in action. Thanks [08:11] for the support, guys. Make sure to bring PLENTY OF POPCORN. bring PLENTY OF POPCORN. >> [laughter] like punchlines or anything. It's literally nothing. This is actually just [08:26] literally nothing. This is actually just a bunch of nothing. And that's their marketing push for Indominus Rex Street. An AI nothing. I It's I don't I don't get it. I can't even begin to try and grasp what they [08:41] were attempting here, but it is so interesting. And I think this is the first of many to come. This isn't going to hurt its ticket sales, I doubt. The film's probably still going to perform fine, because anything with [08:53] dinosaurs in it does incredibly well in the box office. Just look at how and look at how many billions of dollars they bring in. So, if there's dinosaurs there, there's going to be asses in seats. That's just the way it is. And [09:06] banking on it. So, now they're just going to cheap out on marketing and do AI like this. Maybe that's the play. I would say, why even bother doing that if if that's what the goal is, to like save on marketing? [09:21] This This is This is nothing. Again, I don't think this is any publicity is about it, shooting spitballs at it, but that just means more people are hearing about the film, thus it'll translate to more people seeing it. I don't think it [09:33] works that way when it comes to [ __ ] like this. People are so against this completely write off the film right away because the impression now is the film is lazy and bad because it's associated with something lazy and bad like the AI [09:47] dog podcast here. So like I don't think it's a boon to the going to like ruin it. I do think it's still going to do well pretty much no matter what even if the movie is terrible. It'll still do fine in the box [10:01] office because dinosaurs being there is going to carry it no doubt. But yeah, I I just found this to be like a really baffling marketing decision here and even though this has been a colossal behemoth flop for the film, [10:18] doing things like it because it's free. It's It's basically free. They'll keep trying to find the line on where people will tolerate the AI slop marketing for their [ __ ] and then they'll just stay there comfortably paying [10:33] pennies for the garbage. That's my guess at least and it's not just going to be Warner Bros. It's It's going to be like every studio and corporation I imagine it down the line which I've already talked about a lot. [10:45] No need to harp on it again. Anyway, that's really about it. See you.
