# Why Amazon Just Blocked Meta Muse!

> Source: [Why Amazon Just Blocked Meta Muse!](https://youtube.com/watch?v=Z15pVblrR9w)

## Summary

The video discusses how AI chatbots and agents are reshaping the advertising landscape, particularly in app stores. The creator argues that as AI agents browse products on behalf of users, human eyeballs on websites decrease, driving up the value of ads in app stores where humans still actively download apps. This shift benefits platforms like Apple and Google, while AI companies compete fiercely for user acquisition through advertising.

### Key Points

- **AI chatbots as advertising opportunity** [00:00] — The creator believes AI chatbot apps represent a major opportunity for advertisers, noting that ads for apps like Metamuse frequently appear in the App Store.
- **Agents reduce human eyeballs on websites** [00:35] — As AI agents browse products for users, fewer humans directly view websites, which diminishes the value of traditional web ads.
- **Amazon bans Metamuse crawling** [00:48] — Amazon's ban on Metamuse crawling its site is cited as an example of how AI agents disrupt e-commerce, further reducing human traffic to websites.
- **Value shifts to app store ads** [01:01] — The reduction in human web traffic increases the value of ads in app stores and entertainment platforms where humans still engage, benefiting Apple and Google.
- **AI apps compete for ad space** [01:17] — AI apps like Metamuse, GPT, and Gemini are all advertising in the App Store, creating intense competition for user acquisition.

### Conclusion

The video concludes that AI agents are fundamentally changing where advertising value lies, shifting it from websites to app stores and entertainment platforms, while AI companies themselves become major advertisers competing for users.

## Transcript

The first thing that you've got to know is all of this AI chatbot stuff, in my opinion, is an opportunity for advertisers. And I'm just pulling up the App Store right now because what I find when I open up the
App Store is I tend to find ads for Metamuse and they continue to pop up for me. What I think is advertising is a critical place to get exposure for these apps, all this sort of AI competition.
Now, that's going to be a small component of what we touch on in this video. But something you have to watch for is the more agents browse products for you, the less human eyeballs are on them.
So whether it's DoorDash or Wingstop or some form of even Amazon Shop Store, which is exactly why Amazon is now banning the Metamuse app from crawling their website, you actually have fewer humans looking at those websites.
And therefore, you drive up the value of advertisements in app stores where humans are actually going to go download things, which is a benefit to Apple or a benefit to Google for where people are watching entertaining content, whether it's Netflix, entertainment content.
I am finding that a lot of these apps are competing with each other for ad space. So you're seeing Metamuse's advertising inside of the App Store. You're seeing GPT advertised in there. What's happening is you have this competition to get users.
You've even got Gemini now advertising. They're all advertising.
