# Your Mind Is an Algorithm: Feed It Better Thoughts

> Source: [Your Mind Is an Algorithm: Feed It Better Thoughts](https://youtube.com/watch?v=U7xgP5426hs)

## Summary

The video presents a riddle about a private plane with 20 people and only 12 parachutes, asking for the pilot's age. The answer lies in the first line: 'You are flying a private plane,' meaning the viewer is the pilot. The video uses this to explain selective attentional bias, where the brain focuses on information already in the subconscious, and concludes that feeding your mind better thoughts can change your life.

### Key Points

- **The Riddle Setup** [00:02] — A private plane with 20 people, engine fire, 12 parachutes. Six people take parachutes, two fly out, leaving four for 14 people. Question: What is the pilot's age?
- **The Answer Revealed** [00:30] — The pilot's age is the viewer's age because 'You are flying a private plane.' Only a few percent get it right because they miss the first line.
- **Selective Attentional Bias Explained** [00:44] — The brain focuses on things already in the subconscious. Example: if your home interior is blue, you notice blue things more. Similarly, people see negativity or humor based on their past experiences.
- **Algorithm Analogy** [01:13] — Like Instagram's algorithm showing similar reels, our brain processes what we feed it. What we tell ourselves shapes our perception and life.
- **The Superpower of Thought** [01:25] — By consciously feeding our brain better thoughts, we can change our life. This is presented as a superpower.

### Conclusion

The video uses a riddle to illustrate selective attentional bias and the power of self-talk, urging viewers to feed their minds with positive thoughts to transform their lives.

## Transcript

total of 20 people seated. The journey is going well when suddenly the plane's engine catches fire. But luckily there are parachutes available in the plane but unfortunately there are only 12 parachutes. Now before anyone does anything. Six people run and pick up a parachute each,
and by the time this happens, two more parachutes fly out of the plane due to the wind. This means that now there are only four parachutes left in the overall plane and 14 people are left. So in this situation, tell me
what would be the age of the pilot according to you? There would be only a few percent of people who would actually understand the age of a pilot. Which was already in this question. All you had to do was pay attention to the first line of this readle. You are flying a private plane. Now the
stuck in this readdle despite not wanting to is called the selective attentional bias. It means that mental condition where your brain focuses only on those things which are already stored in your subconscious mind. For example, if the furnishing or the theme of your house or the
interior is in blue tones. So even in the market, your attention goes more towards blue things. with personalities too. There are some people who see something negative in every situation. see some fault in every person, they see only wrong in everyone. It is possible that
some such things might have happened to him in the past due to which his focus became like this. And there are people who find humor in everything. Their subconscious mind looks for the same thing in everything. Like on Insta, if we see a reel, then the algorithm shows the next reels in the same way.
Similarly, whatever we put into our brain, it keeps pay a little attention to what we tell ourselves? If we put something in our brain, we can change our life with this superpower.
