## Summary

The transcript details the upcoming *Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake* (also called 'Resync'), which completely rebuilds the 2013 game from scratch using the Anvil engine from *Assassin's Creed Shadows*. It covers story changes (removal of modern-day sections, addition of rifts and new missions), gameplay overhauls (combat, parkour, stealth, naval), and practical info like release date (July 9, 2026), pricing ($60 base, $70 deluxe, $200 collector's edition), and pre-order bonuses.

### Key Points

- **Core Story Retained** [0:10] — Game is set in the early 1700s Caribbean; follows Edward Kenway, a privateer caught between Assassins and Templars.

## Transcript

From new story missions to revised
mechanics, here's everything to know
about Assassin's Creed Black Flag Reync.
Brought to you by Xbox.
The story of Reyn is largely the same as
the original game. Set in the Caribbean
in the early 1700s, Black Flag follows
Edward Kenway, a privateeer in the
golden age of piracy. Kenway gets caught
up in a centuriesl long conflict between
the assassins and templars, two opposing
groups that v to shape humanity's future
when he impersonates a defector of the
former to the latter, believing it will
lead to fortune. Of course, things don't
go according to plan, pushing Kenway
down a path that has him running into
other famous pirates of the time, such
as Charles Vain, Mary Reed, and even
Blackbeard himself. In the original
game, like most other Assassin's Creeds,
Black Flag featured a portion set in the
modern day. The first title to not
feature Desmond Miles in this segment,
the game has players as an undercover
assassin infiltrating Abstergo
Industries, the Templars's front for its
activities in the current era. This
portion of the game is being replaced
with rifts that Kenway can find
throughout the Caribbean, which show
alternate what-if scenarios for the
story to play out. What exactly these
look like, we don't know ahead of
launch, but needless to say, the biggest
change in the game story from the 2013
release to this one is the removal of
its modern-day sections. Then there are
a few new story missions in Reynct as
well. These give some additional
backstory and context for members of the
crew that players bring on to help man
the Jacko, Kenway's ship, as well as
missions that flesh out the stories of
the game side characters such as
Blackbeard and Steed Bonnet.
>> And I would profit better by using your
organs for chum and your bones for char.
The first hint from developer and
publisher Ubisoft of Black Flag Reync
happened in summer of 2024 when the
company's CEO Eve Gumour stated that
some Assassin's Creed games were
receiving remakes for the new missions
and scenes that are being altered and
added to the game, the original Black
Flag writer Darby McDevit was brought on
board with the team looking to explore
the theme of greed even more than in the
2013 release. Reync is being developed
with the same in-house Anvil engine that
powered the most recent Assassin's Creed
release, Shadows, which launched in
early 2025. The game reportedly includes
zero code from the original game and has
been rebuilt from the ground up. With
this new engine, Reyn will include more
highly detailed geometry and character
models, more realistic lighting and
shadows, and increased draw distances.
Loading screens have also been
eliminated when anchoring the Jacko in a
new location.
While Black Flag Reynct will receive a
makeover that makes its gameplay more in
line with more modern Assassin's Creed
games, it is distinctly not going to be
including any of the RPG elements from
those titles. While in the original,
Kenway was able to easily mow through
groups of enemies, Resinct's combat is
designed to be fast and more tactical,
requiring more precise parries that make
encounters against only a handful of
opponents more intense than in the
original game. Recync's parkour and
stealth have also been overhauled as
well. The former will receive modern
enhancements such as directional parkour
and ejecting from walls, while the
latter allows players to crouch at any
time rather than it only kicking in in
specific conditions. Also, autofail
tailing missions have been completely
removed. If players are spotted while
having to tail a target, the game will
present other opportunities to either
retail said target or uncover the
necessary information players are after
through different means. When taking to
the seas, that portion of the game is
receiving improvements, too. Players can
explore underwater by just jumping off
the side of their ship rather than
having to use the diving bell in
specific locations. and predator
encounters are more active real-time
interactions than the QTEbased approach
of the 2013 release. The Jacko will
receive additional customization options
and naval combat has been retoled to
require players to utilize the ship's
various tools more often in order to
overcome opposing vessels rather than
being able to just spam the broadside
cannons.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Reync
releases on July 9th, 2026 for PC, PS5,
and Xbox Series X and S for $60. The
deluxe edition of the game, which
retails for $70, includes cosmetics for
both Kenway and the Jack Door, as well
as unique perks for the pirates,
weapons, and trinkets. The $200
collector's edition includes all the
benefits of the deluxe edition, plus a
steelbook and a bunch of other physical
goodies, including a statue of Kenway
himself. Although, at the time of
writing, this edition is sold out.
Pre-ordering any version of the game
will net players Blackbeard themed
cosmetics for Kenway. And that's
everything to know about Assassin's
Creed Black Flag Reynct. For more on the
