Hey,

Yay.
Hello everybody and welcome to New Rock
Stars late night Cineacon edition. Uh
this week is a very special week.
Cineacon which is the world's largest
trade show for the motion picture
theater industry is happening right now
as we speak in Las Vegas and our very
own Eric Voss and Jessica Clemens are on
the ground in Sin City. Uh, we will be
here live giving you all the news as
soon as it breaks, courtesy of the New
Rockstars Twitter feed and like 20
different Slack threads we have going
with Eric and Jess. Uh, I'm Alex Berg.
With me today on the panel is Zack
Huleston and behind the screens making
everything work is Brian Kim. Uh, so
we'll be keeping a close eye on the chat
for super chats and questions from
members. So please hit us up. Friendly
reminder not to be a jerk in the chat.
We don't have the patience for it. We'll
just tell you to get lost. Um, couple
big things we're expecting to see today
right away. Spider-Man, right? Tonight
is is Sony's Sony's night.
>> Multiple forms of Spider-Man's, okay, is
what we might see. So, uh, just, yeah, a
quick, uh, B just covered it, but but,
uh, to to remind you, so Cineacon is a
not open to the public industry event in
Las Vegas every year. Uh, though we got
in, Eric and Jessica are in the room.
Um, but we can't like broadcast from
there or whatever. So, we are
broadcasting from our our lovely uh,
Burbank Studios here. Um, and it is
broken up by studio, right? So, uh, we
might even have a graphic weekend show
for like, uh, our schedule this week.
>> Yeah, we will be covering Cineacon all
week long. Tonight is Sony. Tomorrow is
WB. Wednesday is Universal. Thursday
will be the Disney panel, which of
course includes Marvel Star Wars.
>> Yes. And everything else.
>> And And there's there's not on this list
right here. There's not a Paramount
panel, though one does exist. There's
not an MGM Amazon panel, though one does
exist. We're kind of just doing one
stream a day to cover the biggest panel,
but we'll recap those smaller studio
things in in the appropriate day as
well. Like already today, there was a
Angel Studios.
>> Yeah. Famous for Sound of Freedom. Also,
real quick, yes, Ruth, this is live.
Thank you, Bruce Leroy, for your $5
super.
>> Yeah. And actually, yeah, just to prove
that. Yeah. Um, also shout out, I see
Sarah Hatchorian in the chat. Uh, Perp
Dizzy one, Nerd Girl Jean in the chat,
uh, Caleb Mazerini Productions,
everybody in the chat, thank you so
much. And we are going to cover we will
read out loud every single super chat
that comes in.
>> We will get to that.
>> We're going to we're going to be leaning
on you guys as uh we are going to be
basically doing text to text to verbal
translation of tweets
>> three hours
>> for most of the next three hours. Okay.
Uh but yeah, so so the Cineacon, it
takes place over four days, broken into
these studio panels. Uh tonight, the big
one is Sony Pictures.
>> Yes.
>> Um and it's a particularly big one, big
year for Sony.
>> Huge. Yeah.
>> Because they have a live action
Spider-Man movie, as you're well aware,
Spider-Man Brand New Day is coming out.
We are anticipating uh Tom Holland might
be there. Um Destin Daniel Credin might
be there. Uh they might show entire
scenes from the movie. Yes, we might get
a new trailer shown. They're going to
roll out the carpet as this is
anticipated to be one of the biggest, if
not the biggest movie of the year, one
of the biggest movies of the summer. And
so they're going to have they'll have
representatives from every movie theater
in the country in the room and they're
going to want they're going to try to
dazzle them. Yes.
>> Be like, "Hey, if you're thinking of
giving us six screens, why don't you
give us nine or whatever."
>> Yeah. I think that's kind of like the
main point of, you know, whereas
something like San Diego Comic-Con has
really become sort of a fan convention.
Uh, Cineacon is something a little bit
more like what E3 used to be where it's
what the theater owners are using to
predict what the year ahead will bring.
You know, so obviously for the biggest
movies, Dune Part 3 and Avengers
Doomsday come to mind. They already kind
of know like, hey, they're going to get
IMAX screens, you know, they're going to
get uh this many theaters. Uh but for a
lot of those movies that might be on the
cusp of being a major blockbuster, this
is kind of a makeorb breakak event for
these studios. And so it really matters
that the studios bring their agame to
Vegas this week to impress all the
theater chain owners. Cinemark, AMC,
Regal, your local uh your local places,
what have you.
>> Yes, your Alamo Draft House, your your
your Lemley, your whatever. Um yeah. So
again, headlined the panel tonight by
Spider-Man Brand New Day. We're
anticipating getting some big news.
Maybe we get a reveal of some kind.
>> Yes.
>> Do we get confirmation on who Sades Sync
is playing?
>> Yes, we have a couple questions about
this in the chat already. Angel Jorio
9542
asking, "Do you guys think they will
confirm Sadi Sync will be Gan Gray?"
>> No. Is the answer Angel Jorio, but Sadi
Sync might come out on stage
>> possible. Also, uh Mayan K superhero fan
uh uh 40 yen I think that is. I can't
see what that is. Uh super chat. Will we
get a tease of Brand New Day's main
villain? Um, possible. We don't really
know what's going on there.
>> Underlying in your question is that we
have not already been teased on what the
main villain is.
>> Yeah, I I doubt it's Scorpion.
>> Yeah, we're assuming it's not Scorpion
or Tarantula. Um, we have not visibly
seen the actor playing Tombstone.
>> No, not yet.
>> Right. Or or potential other actors. And
because we haven't yet confirmed who
Satie Singh is playing, we don't know if
she could in fact be a villain.
>> Yes, very possible. Very possible.
>> So maybe the Hulk is the villain of this
film.
>> Hey, I'll take it. I'll take it. I'd see
Spidey versus Rage Hulk.
>> Yeah, maybe. Maybe Peter Parker uh as
part of his developing mutation goes
full incel. It turns into kind of a taxi
driver type situation.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> Okay. A little Paul Bart Mop or or No,
no. What was the others? Uh observing.
What was the Seth Rogan Malcop movie?
>> But it's very funny to go the the
cinematic whiplash to go from Taxi
Driver to Paul Blart Mop.
>> I remember there was the year uh we're
already off track but uh expect a lot of
this. There was the year where we got
two M cop movies and one was Paul Blart
Mop starring Kevin James and the other
was a very dark Seth Rogan Taxi Driver
MCO movie I think called Observe and
Report. Anyways, uh all of that in
service of a joke that wasn't landing.
Anyways, but so there's so much that
that could come out about Brand New Day.
I don't doubt that that will be kind of
the lynch pin, the the headlining of the
presentation, but there's some other big
stuff we're anticipating getting in this
panel.
>> Well, I think a lot of people in the
chat have already been asking about it.
We don't know, but we're optimistic that
we'll get some news about Beyond the
Spider-Verse or or whatever the third I
I the names are so similar to me, I get
confused.
>> Beyond the Spiderverse, I think is the
current working title. They talked about
Beyond the Spider-Verse at last year's
Cinema Con, even acknowledging it wasn't
scheduled to come out till 2027. As far
as we know, it is still scheduled to
come out next year, 2027.
>> Yeah. Lord Miller during the uh Project
Hail Mary press tour. We're very vocal
about like we we know we know we feel
the weight of the expectation. We're
doing what we can to get it done. Um so
yeah, we'll see. I mean, those movies
are
>> great, you know? Like I'm so excited.
>> Yeah. And and again, let them let them
cook for sure. Take as long as they
need, but it's not unusual for them to
talk about that because at last year's
uh Sony presentation, not only did they
talk about a Spider-Verse movie that was
still two years away and a Brand New Day
that was still a year away, they talked
about four Beatles movies that were
three years away. Those movies are still
two years away, but they're probably
going to talk about that. This is the
the Crazy San Mendes project where
they're gonna make four Beatles movies
>> uh that are going to release
uh weekly or at the same time or that
that has yet to be confirmed, but
they're all coming out the same year
about the four different Beatles. Yeah.
>> Yeah. It feels like a Richard Link
letter experiment gone gone. Escape the
lab, right? Like you know.
>> Yes.
>> What what if boyhood wasn't enough, you
know?
>> And then there are kind of and who knows
what else we might hear from Sony. And I
want to circle back to like some maybe
some wild card picks, but there are kind
of two other things we know we're
probably going to hear from them about
uh the next Jumanji movie. Y
>> um recently in the headlines because it
moved out of the way.
>> Yeah. Shifted its release date.
>> Shifted up a week to get farther away
from uh Doom's Day uh and and presumably
maybe opening up a window for Marvel or
Dune to move up a week as well. But um
so we're getting that at the end of the
year. This is Jumanji 4. I don't know if
we have a subtitle for this.
>> No, I'm sure Jack Black will like tweet
one out like on some like, you know,
Mario Galaxy victory lap or something
like that.
>> Um, and then maybe the one I am most
excited for after the two spider movies.
Uh, a Resident Evil movie coming out.
>> I think apparently the the buzz around
that is already great. Not surprising
given how how positive the buzz was
around um weapons.
>> Yeah. So, this is a Resident Evil movie
from Zack Kger, the writer director of
Weapons and Barbarian. He was like in
Romania or wherever they shot this,
working on this movie. They were already
in production when Weapons came out.
>> Yes.
>> He was like weirdly unable to do any
press in person because he was already
shooting this movie. Hence, he's able to
turn around in like exactly one year a
fully formed feature film. But word on
the street is this movie is incredible.
Yes, it's it's somebody has said it is
>> Fury Road
>> MadMax Fury Road with zombies.
>> So Sarah Hatchadorian to answer your
super chat. Uh we are beefing. Uh 499
from Sarah Hatchorian. Thank you so
much. What announcement are you
personally most excited for this week?
For Zach, it's Resident Evil. I think
it's also Resident Evil for me. I mean I
I thought that Barbarian was I was not a
horror guy until late in life.
>> Same. I think I think Barbarian is a
really phenomenal example of you know
recently they opened up casting as an
award for the um uh for the Academy
Awards. I think casting uh Bill
Scarsgard as not the villain in
Barbarian is as brilliant of a casting
choice as you can ever make. I think the
tonal shift with Justin Long halfway
through is also like a really weird
brilliant choice. And I thought Weapons
was a hell of a [ __ ] ride. I mean, I
I loved a lot of movies in 2025,
>> but I didn't love any of them more than
Weapons.
>> It was great,
>> you know. Uh I mean, and just like in
theater experience, the last 10 minutes
of that movie
>> are incredible. And if you're telling me
>> the last 10 minutes of that movie
stretch out to feature length, but with
zombies,
>> yes,
>> let's go.
>> Um, okay. We got a couple other uh uh
super chats coming through here. Uh
Hannah Basso 1398 asking uh do you think
the Spidey cast is there including
Ruffalo and Sync also supr? Sup Hannah
Basso. Um I think there's a good chance
we get some Spidey cast there. I don't
know if if we'll get all of them but
>> in and who knows what state of if there
are still re-shoots going on or or or
whatnot. Word on the street is um Zenaia
is going to be there. Uh she has
um well she has a movie in theaters
right now, the drama.
>> The drama.
>> Uh and then she m uh is a part of every
actor in Hollywood must be in two out of
three of Avengers Doomsday,
>> Dune 3, or The Odyssey. If you're not in
two of those movies, fire your agent.
Okay. And she is in two of those. She is
in Dune 3 and uh Brand New Day. Um or
I'm sorry, I guess you could add that
one. A fourth one. Oh, and no. And she's
in the Odyssey,
>> is she?
>> I believe she's in the Odyssey as well.
>> If not, Euphoria is on right now.
>> And Euphoria. I mean, how where did she
find the time?
>> Give her a break.
>> Uh, but it would be cool if if if she
and uh Tom Holland were there. Tom
Holland is definitely in the Odyssey,
not in Doomsday supposedly, saving him
for Secret Wars. We'll find out. We'll
talk about that more on the Thursday uh
Disney panel. Um,
>> okay. Me Matty510 saying she is in the
Odyssey. Thank you,
>> Mag. They got everybody. Uh, so she I
mean,
>> Zena's 2026, a season of Euphoria, the
drama, both those is just Q1. Okay.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which maybe
she's in for 12 minutes. We don't know.
>> Yeah, who can say? We don't know. Yeah,
we got no idea.
>> And same same with the Odyssey. Maybe
she's in that for 10 minutes. Uh, feels
like she might have a a heftier part in
Dune Part 3. But even if you're
supporting roles in all those projects,
>> Incredible.
>> Yes. What a run. What a run. Uh, and
congratulations on your secret wedding.
You know,
>> it was secret.
>> Well, they haven't officially announced
that they're married.
>> Uh, Nakoa, it's time to go to bed. Uh,
thank you. Uh, www4.
If anybody has a child that needs to be
sent to bed, we are happy to.
Especially, you know, if you're on
Eastern Eastern time zone, if you're in
Europe right now, I saw somebody
somebody in the chat saying they're in
Britain right now. Okay. And it was like
2 a.m. Grinch meantime or whatever.
That's that's wild. Uh but bless your
heart. Uh we'll keep you awake.
>> Now, something we want to do uh real
quick before we um uh get started with
the news, the Sony panel is scheduled to
start in just a couple minutes. Uh for
those of you in LA or those of you who
are online and would like to watch a
show livereamed, uh this coming Friday,
April 17th at 7:30m, New Rockstars will
be doing a live show at the Upright
Citizens Brigade Theater in Los Angeles.
Uh we're going to be doing a staged
reading of everybody's absolute favorite
vampire movie, MorbiiUs.
>> Quick uh look at look at that graphic.
Look at that gorgeous graphic our editor
Joshua put together. Yes. Um, so to be
clear, and Eric has had to mention this
because we've gotten a lot of weird
questions, this is a comedic staged
reading. Yes. Okay. We're not like, if
we could pick from any movie ever made,
there's a reason we're picking MorbiiUs
to do a stage reading of because we
think it'll be a really good time. This
is was this is at
>> a storied comedy theater. Yes.
>> In in Los Angeles. Um, this is going to
be a great time. But talking MorbiiUs, a
movie put out by
>> Sony. Sony Picture Studios. Now, we are
in a post kind of spumsy world. As far
as we know, after Craven the Hunter,
there are no more planned uh Sony nonMCU
spin-off movies other than obviously the
Spider-Verse movies and the the actual
Spider.
>> They have intimated that they're open to
a reboot of the
>> Spy. And so, that that leads me to my
wild card prediction for this panel. Oh,
>> do we get a new Spy movie announced?
>> Oh god, Madam Too
>> or
>> Madam Weed.
>> You know, the the Tom Hardy Venom
trilogy wrapped up definitively pretty
well with uh Venom: The Last Dance, but
like those movies made a lot of money.
>> Yeah,
>> it would be weird for Sony to be like,
"Okay, done forever. Uh, we made some
stinkers and so now we're just not going
to try anymore." Don't you think they
might try again?
>> Give it a shot. I don't know. I mean,
it's also there's also beyond any
creative or financial motivations for
making a film. A lot of these studios
are locked into weird legal things where
it's like if you don't make it's like a
use it or lose it situation where if you
don't make a movie set in the Spider-Man
universe using one of this list of
characters you paid for, they revert to
Marvel. Yes.
>> Which is And Sony does that's part of
why we had to have the Amazing
Spider-Man. It's like they have to have
something in production.
>> I think it has to be in production every
3 years. Yes. And so we should just talk
a little bit background and recent
history on Sony Picture Studios. Like
Sony is kind of in that second tier of
studio. At the top tier you have Disney,
Universal, and Warner Brothersish,
right? Are kind of like the big three.
And then beneath them, you have studios
like Paramount, Sony, MGM, Amazon, if
you want to count an Apple TV, a Focus
Features, a Neon, an A24. Then there's a
big old soup, Lion's Gate. It's a big
old soup of much smaller studios. But
Sony is kind of like right in that
second tier. And that is because though
they have some giant properties like
Spider-Man, they have a lot less big IP
than a Disney or Universal or Warner
Brothers, right? And and really their
their their number one IP is Spider-Man.
And you can only squeeze out a live
action Spider-Man movie every three to
four years. 2021 was uh brand new or No
Way Home, right? Like um a little bit
longer gap than maybe they would have
liked, but like reasonably you're
talking every three years. And the
animated movies maybe those are kind of
also every three, four year. I think
2022 was across the Spider-Verse, I
believe. So it will end up taking them
four, five years to get out.
>> Can that be right? Was it 2022?
>> It's 2022. We we won't be facteing
anything on this uh very very long live
stream in which we have three laptops.
>> We got three laptops
>> on the desk and just manage the chat
multiple screens off. But like so a they
really have to milk everything they can
from that franchise. And that's why we
got Craven the Hunter and Madame Web and
Morbius and all of this. But also like
maybe maybe that endeavor didn't work
but they'll find a new way. Maybe they
double down on animation. So another big
thing about Sony is they did not have a
very good year last year. They had a
couple big flops. Caught stealing with
Austin Butler, Big Bold, Beautiful
Journey with Colin Frell and Margari.
Uh, and then really the irony of all
ironies, their biggest hit from 2025
>> was a movie they didn't own and didn't
get to distribute, and that was K-pop
Demon. A movie they made, but it was in
a pre kind of sold package to Netflix.
So, they they got their like 50 million
or whatever, and then they didn't
benefit at all from how much of a smash
hit that movie was. Can Can we get the
tech bros out of the studios? Can we
just get the business nerds with the
MBAs and the Silicon Valley disruption
mindset to be gone?
>> And you know that that is now a
franchise they're going to make more of
those. But it's a franchise that Netflix
gets to control, right? And I think they
negotiated a little bit more money. But
now uh that that speaks to though an
area of success, a niche area of success
for Sony is and we might get a little
bit of this in their panel. They've done
really well with anime. It makes sense
being a Japanese-owned company. Yeah. Uh
they, you know, I um they own
Crunchyroll, I believe. Um and like some
of these theatrically released
>> uh movies. Yes. That are huge successes.
They they do much better in that world
than any of the other Hollywood studios.
So, we might get some anime news as part
of this panel as well.
>> We've got a couple of uh super chats
coming in. One from CB the Legend. And I
think this is worth while while we're
waiting for Sony to start, let's switch
gears to Marvel. Test screening says
Doomsday is best MCU film ever. We have
heard that the test screening was
Infinity War level, which is a fa a
famously successful test screening for
Marvel and a great movie.
>> Also a direct parallel in that like they
that was the first of two uh concurrent
uh Avengers movies. This is the first of
two concurrent Avengers movies.
>> Yeah. So, we're, you know, obviously we
have high hopes for Doomsday. Um, I've
been, as part of our podcast series, uh,
Road to Doomsday, I've been going back
and re-watching a lot of the old Marvel
movies. And for as much as I hate being
the crotchety old nerd who's like back
in my day, a teamup movie meant
something, you know, like there there is
there is something that hits different
about like first Avengers, you know,
versus Quantum Mania or something like
that.
Well, in in like the Infinity War thing,
you're right. It that got brought up
because it was a famously strong test
screening and it is the first of like a
a duo of Avengers movies, but also
Infinity War benefited from and and it
gives me high hopes for Doomsday. It
gets to have that kind of Empire Strikes
Back
>> energy of it can be really dark. It can
end grimly, which is not something you
get to end many superhero movies with.
No, I love like a Two Towers like Empire
like all is lost kind of a vibe, you
know? Like that's always my favorite.
>> And then you you don't got to worry
about sticking the land into the next
movie.
>> Now we're we're dovetailing between
Marvel and Sony here and the boundaries
are porous, so we're going to do it. Uh
Arcanite 450 with a 499 super chat.
Thank you so much, Arcanite. Which
Spidey villains will have the most
screen time in Brand New Day? What are
your thoughts?
Now, we've gotten a surprisingly deep
roster for uh who's going to be in
Spider-Man. It seems like Scorpion and
Tombstone are going to be sort of like
the main the main
>> working in maybe working in tandem.
We've gotten both toy leaks and like
some limited footage. There will be a
tarantula. Yeah.
>> Involved in this film. There rumors of a
Vulture appearance.
>> Yeah.
>> Last time we saw Scorpion, he was with
Vulture, but I I don't know how how much
we can trust that. And then obviously
the trailer heavily featured members of
the hand ninja squad right not not like
a specific member. So I guess I are we
are we saying like
>> if there's 30 seconds of nine ninjas is
that cumul does that cumul.
Um, yeah, it is interesting and I think
like I appreciate though Brand New Day
has been rather forthcoming with like
set footage and like Tom Holland's been
out there talking about this movie since
they started shooting and like stuff
like that. There's still definitely a
lot of elements that are keeping close
to the chest
>> in that like yeah, we may not have even
seen or heard of who the actual main
>> I recall at one point and you know I'm
sure Eric would know off the top of his
head but like there was all this talk
about Mr. Negative at one point like
>> he might still be in this movie. might
still be in it. You know, like there's
there's so much stuff that I I think we
should take the lesson from No Way Home
that Sony likes having a big surprise.
They like it to be a big fanervice
surprise, you know, and I think there's
going to be some stuff that we just
don't get from the trailers. We might
get it from other places. Someone might,
you know, misspeak during a press
appearance or something like that, but I
think there is going to be some kind of
very satisfying surprise in this
Spider-Man movie. And I think it's wise
of them to do that because is there
anybody in the world that was not going
to buy a ticket to go see Brand New Day,
but then they hear that like Mr.
Negative is a key villain and they're
like, "Oh, one please." No, you're
either in or out on this and and if it
serves the plot to maybe have some
surprise. Maybe like Scorpion gets
killed in the first act. Maybe, you
know, we kind of getting a misdirect on
what the true
>> antag like the, you know, uh, Andrew and
Toby cameos and I more than cameos, but
their appearance in No Way Home. What
that does is it makes it such like a it
increases the fervor around it from just
premovie hype to cultural moment and
that makes the casuals want to come buy
a ticket. So like, is Mr. Negative going
to be that thing? No. But like a big
surprise, a big death, a big reveal
during the movie could be the kind of
thing that makes word of mouth buzz big
enough that weekend that it gets people
the second weekend to come come to the
theater.
>> Agreed.
>> Yeah. Of all the things they could show
us that we have yet to see, I would love
to see a Hulked out Ruffalo screen
footage. There there's rumors that we
are going to get a Savage Hulk
>> in this movie potentially even. There's
some wilder rumors. I I love how all the
swirling rumors around Brand New Day
that there could be a second Hulk in
this. We could get either Ruffalo uh
Ruffalo's Bruce turns into a grey Hulk
or there is some kind of a grey Hulk.
>> He's got a Hulk kid running around out
there from
>> Scar. Justice for Scar.
>> Yeah,
>> justice for Scar's haircut.
>> Real quick, Jackalicious, uh thank you
for your five fiveuro uh uh super chat,
can you congratulate my good friends
Jordan and Elas's marriage? Yes, I can.
Congratulations, Jordan Anelius, on your
marriage. Um, I hope that Jackalicious
also got you something off your registry
or that this super chat was on your
registry.
>> What a what a friend you are.
>> Yes. You're not asking to to be
congratulated yourself. You're throwing
the congratulations at someone else.
Now, is that because Yeah. you didn't
get them a gift?
>> Yeah.
>> And if that's the case, I think it's
customary at least $100 you should spend
on a wedding gift. Now we have another
Spider-Man super chat here from Lewis
Barry443.2 $2 super chat over or under
20%. Sadcink announced as Gan Gray. I
think I think way over.
>> Wait, I think the odds are lower than
20%. Is that what he's asking?
>> He's saying over or under I'm going to
read it verb verbatim. Over or under
20%. Sink announce as Gan Gray.
>> Uh
>> make of that what you will.
>> So okay. So, you're combining two
gambling terminologies that I think
contradict each other. There's over
under and then 20. I guess you're saying
is over 20%.
>> Are the odds 20% or greater that we get?
I think
>> I think greater than 20%.
>> I think 0%. I don't think they're going
to announce her as Gan Gray at this.
>> Oh, of the announcement. I see. Yes.
>> Yes. I think the reality of is she Gan
Gray, I think that is 100%. Yeah.
>> But I don't think on this Sony panel
we're not getting that announced.
>> Yeah. And um again, if you could just
send in like4 or 50 more dollars worth
of super chats clarifying
how you would like us to pick.
>> We have another super chat here from uh
Omalore. $5 super chat. Thank you,
Omalore. Would you guys be happy if we
only get Professor Hulk in Brand New
Day? I would not Hulk's out.
>> I want Hulk to Hulk out. I you I
actually I really liked Smart Hulk when
he showed up, but now I want you know
like I you know you watch Brave New
World and you see Red Hulk doing his
thing and you're like yeah Hulk should
be terrifying and if Hulk is totally
under control that kind of neutralizes
part of what makes that character
interesting to me. So I I would be
disappointed if Professor Hulk
>> I I agree. Having recently watched
re-watched Thor Ragnarok for the
millionth time where there is a you know
kind of gladiator savage Hulk there at
the beginning. It's a lot of fun. Um
yeah I would love to see a Hooked Out.
Also, just, you know, not to uh directly
site a New Rockstar Nerd Riot merch
item, but I want to I want to get a
scene where a savage Hulk, a savage
Frank Castle, Get him, Daddy. And a
maybe slowly morphing into a Spiderman
man. Spider uh I would love to see this
is it. Here's the thing. Here's the
thing that a talented action director
like Destin Daniel [ __ ] can do and we
don't get to see often enough in any
films is like multiplepowered or super
individuals fighting at the same time.
How their powers intersect, how you can
have fun visual storytelling with them.
The and and like Spider-Man and Hulk's
powers are such fun like compliments and
contradictions to each other.
>> Yeah. cuz it's like you have like this
like live like you know very flexible
very like zip zip zip and then this
period like
>> yeah and and then Frank Castle is
shooting guns for no reason like um
>> now Zack real quick hold up that shirt
again I want to do a quick Nerd Riot
plug
>> you guys you can get this shirt and the
shirt that Zach is currently wearing on
Nerdriot.shop.
Buying a shirt from Nerdriot.shop is one
of the best ways you can support our
channel. Uh so head to nerd riot.shop.
You can get, look at these Star Wars
shirts if you're getting ready for Mando
Grou. Uh, we got Doom shirts. We got
Spider-Man shirts. We even got shirts
for the pit. One of our most popular
shirts right now is for the pit.
>> PTMC.
>> PTMC.
What's this? Is this Invincible? Oh, no.
That's Spider-Man. Invincible is a
different one. Yeah. So, yeah, we got
So, head over to nerdriot.shop. Pick up
some merch. Um, uh, yeah.
>> And And if you if you already own some
Nerd Riot or you order something today,
you take a picture of yourself wearing
it. You could crop out your face if you
don't feel like sharing that with the
world, but then you tag us on the
socials. We will call you out and and
that picture might make its way into a
future video. Call you out in a positive
way. Shout you out. Shout you out. Call
you out for your crimes.
>> Just
um Okay, great. All right, the panel has
begun. We've not yet received any news.
We will have uh the New Rockstars
Twitter feed up behind us. So, as soon
Eric and Jess are, for those of you just
joining, Eric Voss. Oh, see there they
are.
>> There they are.
>> They're in Vegas right now. Um, nine
minutes ago, they they're they're
tweeting and seating. Um, so
we're we're getting ready. Anything that
happens in there, we will find out as
soon as they find out. So, this is our
workaround for not being able to
broadcast from Vegas. We can tweet from
Vegas.
>> Yes. And there is not there is no
stream. Uh much of this these panels
will never be kind of like publicly
professionally released. Uh maybe you'll
see some grainy footage out there, but
mostly it will be tweets.
>> Now we've got a a super chat that I
think is the most important one we've
gotten yet from uh Maju.vide
199 super chat. Both of my NR daddies
are back. Love you guys. Love you my
guy. Thank you so much.
>> Love you. We're two out of the three
actual fathers at New Rock. So, I I I
assume you mean that in a purely
nonsexual interest in a in a a
patrolineal uh sense that we are like,
"Hey, we respect people who make time
for family, you know, like um uh also
super chat from Ranger NYBL.
Not going to lie, I want to see two gun
in Doomsday. We need some Old West
representation in the MCU. I know it's
not going to happen, but I want it. I
wanted to so bad.
>> Uh, if you don't think that like Sony at
one point has like gotten a writer in a
room and been like, "Okay, listen. We
have the rights to
>> Yeah. You know what I mean?
>> Kid Yeah.
>> We also have um from I know Juice uh 499
super chat. Do you think there will be a
Doomsday after credits in Brand New Day?
This is a great question. I I think so,
right? I think there's got to be some
connective tissue, something teeing it
up. Um, but yeah, I think that's a very
it over under 20%. It's over 20% chance.
>> Yes. I mean, Kevin Feige is a producer
on Brand New Day. Um, maybe not the most
active like onset producer, but that is
>> definitely got it. Yeah. And that's part
of the famous Kevin Feige Amy Pascal uh
sandwich accord in which they agreed to
kind of share more characters across
Sony and Marvel, bringing Spider-Man
into the Avengers films and allowing
people like Daredevil and Punisher and
and Hulk and uh Doctor Strange to appear
in Spider-Man movies and and of course
uh most importantly Tony Stark. Uh so I
think so keep their [ __ ] going. Maybe I
would be interested to know, you know,
um, the Russo brothers directed the
postredit scene in Fantastic 4.
>> Yeah.
>> Uh, I believe they also directed the
postredit scene in Thunderbolts. A
>> and just going throughout Marvel's
history, it's very common. Like James
Gun directed the postredit scene for
Thor 2 because it had the collector from
Guardians.
It's I I would not be surprised if we
get a postredit scene that was directed
by the Russos specifically for uh Brand
New Day. There's there's no better. You
want to capture that audience, right?
Like you know, like everybody fears this
kind of idea of audience churn in the
streaming market. You have a certain
amount of fans. Not all of them are
going to make it with you through all
your movies. Having a postredit scene
that directly sets up um uh Avengers
Doomsday is the best way to reduce
audience churn between those two films.
I think so. Especially because like
other than in 2024 we really only got
Deadpool and Wolverine.
We're getting more. But we getting three
MCU movies if we're counting Brand New
Day as MCU
>> in 24 months.
>> Yeah.
>> Right. We're getting two Avengers movies
and a Spider-Man movie and that's it.
And so it's not like we'll be
oversaturated with Doomsday postredit
scenes or something like that.
>> There was definitely a period where
Marvel was like we're going to have
three postredit scenes. One's going to
be a gag at the very end. It's going to
be Captain America lecturing you about
boredom, you know, like or patience or
whatever.
>> Be a little pizza papa involved
potentially.
>> Yeah. You know,
>> get paid. Pizza gets paid.
>> I I think they've I think they've kind
of like dialed it back. And so I I think
this is one where me as somebody who is
like, h just show me a trailer for a
movie if you want me to go see the next
movie. Even I want a postredit scene
between Spider-Man and Avengers.
>> Yes.
>> Um we have another uh super chat here
from Porro Porro 8859. Very fun to say
Poro Poro. Thank you for that $5 super
chat. Y'all think we get an actual
animation teaser for the first time of
Beyond the Spider-Verse here? Honestly,
more excited for Beyond the Spider-Verse
than No Way Home.
>> Interesting. Um,
>> might be time for a poll.
>> I bet they're going to show footage,
right? Like, it's a beloved the
Spider-Verse beloved beloved franchise.
Two out of two so far, right? That that
have been great. but also it is as known
for its animation style and its visuals
as like any superhero franchise, right?
And so like I think and there's been the
big question of like oh the reason it's
maybe taken them longer than they
originally anticipated. I think the
third movie was supposed to come out in
2025. It was supposed to the original
timeline has been shot to
>> but like part of that is and usually
what they say is because like they're
really taking their time with the art
>> and and so like I think that would be
really wise to show uh some footage
especially maybe like a particularly
groundbreaking art or or whatever. I I
think you're spot on even though again
that's not till next year. Um they might
give a little tease.
>> I think I think they know the fans are
hungry. I I think they're I think
they're deeply aware. It felt like every
third question on the Project Hail Mary
press tour was like, "Yeah, like what's
going on with Spiderverse, though?"
Like, okay. You know,
>> it's been a uh a big a nice recent run
for Lord and Miller. Uh the
>> kind of Helmer's of the They Now they
are not directing this Spider-Verse
movie, though. They did write and direct
the first one. I believe somebody else
Yeah. They kind of handed off directing
duties to the second one, but they're
still heavily involved as producers on
this third one. Um, and they just
directed uh Project Hail Mary. So far, I
believe the number one live action movie
of
>> I think Mario Galaxy is beating it, but
I think uh outside of animation, I
believe it is still the lead.
>> Yes. Uh, and that's, you know, as as we
wait for kind of more Sony news to
trickle in, you know, it's an
interesting time to check in on the
theatrical industry. Oh, is it trickling
in?
>> Well, no, we have a a super chat from uh
Mafep 9. Also fun to say you guys are
the fun names. Thank you. Uh uh $5 super
chat. Uh not Sony related, but do you
think Mando and Grou will have Star Wars
opening text crawl over or under 20%.
Okay, you've got to stop with these over
and under percentages. Um that's
interesting. You know, it feels like no
as they're not trying to make this
>> Yeah, I don't think they're gonna
>> Skywalker saga. And so they'll kind of
break from form that way. Also, I mean,
but maybe in a sense they they might
need it to catch up an audience that
might not have watched all of the Disney
Plus show.
>> Well, it's interesting because I think
the the function it's so funny to I
think you're right to frame it as like a
catchup, but also it started just as
like a hey, here's a bunch of backstory,
you know, like I I think they could do
it just as well with like an exposition
room or like, you know, something like
that.
>> Well, I want it just cuz how am I going
to like be caught up on what the Trade
Federation is up to? Yeah, you got to
know.
>> I need to know like where are the where
are the embargos, the tariffs, the
whatever. You know, that's my favorite
part of those scrolls.
>> Yeah. Uh but yeah, so we will uh Oh, we
have a just a straight up Hey, two bucks
just for for existing Elijah Paricone
2823. Thank you for your donation. Thank
you so much, Elijah.
>> Uh yes, but as I was saying before, I
was rudely interrupted by these kind
viewers that gave us money. Um so it's
an interesting period for the theater
industry which has never recovered since
the pandemic. No, right. It routinely
used to do 11 billion dollars a year. Uh
last year did nine billion which is
still an insane number to wrap your
brain around but when you think about it
that's like 20% down. Like no business
can uh survive if it drops by 20% right.
Uh but so far Q1 so January, February,
March is ahead pretty significantly of
that same time period last year thanks
in large part to movies like Project
Hail Mary, Super Mario Galaxy. There
were some smaller hits like Hoppers,
Scream Seven, uh, Weathering Heights,
probably I bet because there was also a
nice range of movies. Uh, I bet you saw
one of those movies in a movie theater.
Yeah, there's a little bit of something
for everybody there, you know.
>> Yeah. Now, I mean, I think the issue is
obviously what's happening right now in
the uh we're in a time of incredible uh
contraction due to mergers and also a
lot of uncertainty geopolitically,
right? Like you know, the biggest the
biggest piece of news obviously is the
Paramount WWB merger. Just earlier today
over a thousand Hollywood luminaries
signed an open letter saying like please
don't do this. whether or not the
Paramount WB merger goes through. The
uncertainty represented by the merger at
this point is making it very difficult
for everybody to plan out beyond what's
currently in their production slate,
particularly for the people at Paramount
and WB, but it also makes it difficult
for these other other studios to kind of
plan around what those release cadences
might be. Yeah. And so this this
contraction that Zach is speaking about
is like you know one 20% yeah not great
but two also seems like when are we
going to kind of get like a new normal
whether or not the new normal is the
same as the old normal or it's just a
new status quo but things are in such a
state of flux it's very difficult right
now and so any movie that succeeds we're
stoked on whether or not it was for me
I'm happy I'm happy to succeed
>> movies are back Mary I saw it in
theaters and had an awesome time um and
and hopefully There there's something
that's come out in the last couple
months that you also had an awesome time
with. And again, the Q1 is typically the
slowest part of the movie calendar,
right? We are heading into spring and
summer where kind of the blockbusters uh
start rolling in through a
>> Yeah, this is normally the time of year
when you get what was the the the horror
movie with the monkey that was like
primate. The primate is typical of what
you normally see in this chunk of the
year. They typically call it dump youary
in January and February where you get a
lot of like weird horror movies and
crappy movies that nobody
>> So the fact that like already by the
time end of April's rolled around, we've
gotten a couple of bangers, you know,
like at least financially speaking,
whether or not they were for you, you
know, like uh that's that's a good
that's a good sign.
>> Yes. We got a couple more uh super
chats.
>> Here we go. Uh Omalore uh $5 super chat.
Thank you, Omalore. Uh crazy theory. In
the final shot of the brand new day
trailer, instead of the red ninjas, it
is Gan Gray's Phoenix form, the color
scheme and shape match. Now, this for
those of you who aren't as deeply
steeped in the fever swamps of MCU
theories Reddit, this shot has been
heavily theorized to have had some kind
of digital monkeying. Yes. And that's
that's probably the case. But and I will
say Omalore is I don't want to paint
Omalore as a fever swamp theorist
because they're saying crazy theory
right up top.
>> Yeah.
>> I kind of like that theory though. I
don't think we're gonna get Phoenix
Force in a Spider-Man movie, you know?
Like I feel like they're going to save
that for X-Men down the road. I think
>> the ninth X-Men movie or something like
that.
>> Yeah. But I I like where your head's at.
Like where your head's at.
>> People have been speculating and there's
a rich history particularly in
Spider-Man trailers of erasing
characters out. We we they erased out
Lizard out of the big um uh oh they
erased out multiple Spider-Man out of a
lot of footage in the trailers from the
Statue of Liberty fight scene in No Way
Home. I think they also erased out
Lizard. All all kinds of stuff, right?
So uh and there just some shots in the
most recent trailer and you can see Eric
has made a wonderful breakdown of that
>> 48 minutes long and literally every
frame
>> on on the frames that look like maybe
something was removed. So, you can go
see that. And so, people have been
speculating, was what was removed a was
it uh an important villain? Was it
something about Peter Parker that is
different or something?
>> Yeah. Now, hang on, Brian. We're getting
some news that our feed needs to be
updated. Can you do a refresh on this
bad boy? It seems like it's not going
auto.
Oh my gosh, chat, you're making me look
like a fool in front of Brian. This guy
doesn't respect me. I need to earn his
respect.
>> It's actually it's a big problem in the
office. Um,
>> it's every day. Every day Brian gives me
a hard time.
>> And and we should talk about one other
kind of big Sony upcoming project, not
for 26, but 2027. Uh, maybe you can you
will be able to speak on much better
than I Berg, but Sony has the rights to
Zelda. They've been working on a Zelda
movie set to come out in 2027.
Um, and there was thought that we might
get a little tease for that here.
>> Now, the the Zelda movie uh casting
looks great to me, meaning that I don't
have any attachment to either of those
actors in a positive way. Like, they are
able to just be those characters for me.
They look the part. The big question is,
will Link speak? Now, I I am in I I'm of
two minds on this. As a Zelda purist, he
can't speak. You just can't speak.
There's no way. We all saw that cartoon
from the 80s like, "Excuse me,
princess." Like, not the vibe, you know?
Like, on the other hand, I have a hard
time imagining a studio head making one
of the most recognizable characters in
all of video gamedom. You know, Link is
right up there with Mario Pikachu. Yeah.
you know, like I I have a hard time
seeing a studio head saying we're we're
not going to let this guy speak. I think
that's the bolder choice. I think that's
going to be what makes it memorable, you
know, like and I think also like
certainly if you look at the the most
recent Zelda games, uh Breath of the
Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, Breath of
the Wild's plot is buried in a way that
I think from a video game perspective is
fascinating. Um but when you dig it up,
it's very clear that Link is the
sidekick. like you're playing as this
sidekick, but really what you're doing
is running all these errands while Zelda
buys you time in the big fight against
Ganon or Calamity Ganon, I guess, you
know. So, so if in the movie Link
doesn't speak, I'm fine with that. He
should be the sidekick. Zelda is the
actual hero, at least in the modern
Zelda can. Everyone has a different
favorite Zelda game. You're all wrong.
It's not the N64 Zeldas. It's either
Link to the Past or Breath of the Wild.
Those are the only two correct answers.
>> Can I ask a seemingly nonsequator
question, but are you a fan of the
Mazerunner film franchise?
>> I I've I'm not familiar with them. They
came out in an area, and this actually
leads us back to a super chat we missed
about Hunger Games, which we'll get to
in one second.
>> We see you. We'll come back.
>> Uh but yeah, they came out in a swamp of
YA stuff.
>> Say I I never watched those. Those in
Divergent and and even Hunger Games
weren't for me. Yeah. Weren't for me.
But, uh, Wes Ball is the director of the
upcoming Zelda movie. And, uh, his
notable credits, he directed all three
Maze Runner films. Did you know there
were three? I did not. I wouldn't have
been able to pick that number off the
top of my head. And I think not the most
recent Planet of the Apes movie, but the
one right before that.
>> Yes.
>> I believe he also directed. Um, so
interesting. But, you know, the guy
knows how to work CGI. guy knows how to
work young people in uh strange
fantastical settings.
>> I think there's a lot of potential with
with Zelda and I'm not such a purist
that if Link speaks it'll ruin it for
me, but I would I do think keeping him
silent is the bolder choice and I'd like
to see movies make more bold choices.
Now, real quick, Pixel Brady asked us a
super chat earlier that we we missed
because we were talking about other
stuff. Uh will New Rockstars be breaking
down The Hunger Games Sunrise on the
Reaping trailer and covering it in the
news? Maybe even breaking down the
previous five movies. I gotta level with
you here, Pixel Brady. Eric and Jess are
at Cineacon this week. We are up to our
eyeballs TV show
>> break do a trailer breakdown? No, sir.
>> So, we probably won't get to this one,
but it is possible that when the film
itself comes out, we will. It's
definitely on our radar. It's something
that we're looking at, you know, and the
the kind of push pull here at New
Rockstars behind the scenes is there's
always more stuff we want to break down
than we have time to break down.
>> And for a lot of stuff like that, and
you could probably point to like, well,
you did this and you covered this. A lot
of that, honestly, it falls down to just
the calendar. And like right now, like
we we were talking about it. I think in
a sevenday span, we are going to break
down six different shows.
>> Yeah. You've got Maul,
>> Shadow Lord,
>> Pit,
>> Daredevil, Born Again, The Boys,
Invincible Euphoria.
>> Yeah. All of those in one week. And that
is the same week at Cineon.
>> We are at Cineacon. So, it is like if
anything extra were to come out this
week, like a trailer for uh Sunrise on
the on the Reaping. Uh unfort is it
weeping or reaping?
>> Reaping. Reaping.
>> Reaping. Okay, I got it right. Reaping
the makes more sense. But also, you
could be there could be Sunrise while
you're sure. Um, unfortunately that
one's going to slip through the cracks.
Now, maybe when the movie comes out,
maybe that's a lighter week for us and
we're able to kind of prioritize that.
But a lot of times, I mean, there's
never going to be a superhero movie, a
Star Wars movie, a Game of Thrones show
that comes out that we do not cover. But
kind of for anything below that, it is
kind of
>> sort of just what week does it happen?
And like you can there's a whiteboard in
the other room that is like Eric's Pepe
Sylvia, you know, like like scheduling
board. And basically like like if we
don't say like, "Hey, Eric, it's it's
okay to sleep sometimes, you know, like
he will he will work himself to put a
sheet over his cage like he's a
parakeet." Yeah. Line it with newspaper.
>> We do have just a little bit of again
Eric Voss and Jessica Clemens are in the
room in Las Vegas. A little update from
Eric up. We haven't gotten any news out
of the Sony panel because Tom Rothman,
the head of Sony, is on stage honoring
an award recipient, Ellis Jacob, CEO of
the Cinniplex Theater chain. He said
it's not tweetworthy. I'm just I'm just
uh uh just let know. Um and again, this
is an industry trade show. Much like
plumbers or optometrists or insurance
salesmen have their trade shows that
they go to, movie theater operators,
this is their trade show. is also I'll
say this. Living in living in Los
Angeles, which is ostensibly a movie
town, a trade show can't come to LA.
It's got to go to Vegas.
>> Well, because nobody wants to go to a
trade show in their town. You want to
get to leave town. That's why you got to
go to Sundance or you got to go to
Right. Um Vegas or or whatever to to do
your thing that you could much easier do
in Los Angeles.
>> I just I want to see I want to see those
that that tourist dollars. I want this
is movie town.
>> Yes, please.
>> Okay, we got another overunder for Zack.
All the overunders now are for Zack. I'm
going to read them out loud, but I'm
going to direct them to him. So, uh,
SOA's Boomerang 415, uh, $5 super chat.
Overunder comes on stage and gets
announced as the main villain for Brand
New Day.
>> You know, here's the thing about
OverUnder. He's uh his his villain
origin story is crazy cuz he was an
inside out outside.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> And and then he got hit with gamma
radiation and became an overunder.
>> Yeah. He became an overunder. So, it's
it's tough. Yeah. It was a a sports book
got bitten by a radioactive uh first
round draft pick. Yeah,
>> that's right. Went for a parlay and
slipped into some toxic sloo. Uh who who
wrote that?
>> That was it. Just it just went away.
I'll never remember. Uh but yeah. Oh,
SOA's SOA's Boomerang 415.
>> SOA's Boomerang. Good word.
>> Um okay, we got another super chat. $5.
Nicholas Werdo 3914. Any chance Doomsday
will be rated R? Hearing it's going to
have some gruesome deaths. I'm gonna say
absolutely not, right? Like they want
this to be four quadrant and like movie
the lengths movies will go to to not be
rated R because they're afraid of losing
the the like, you know, familyfriendly
kind of PG-13 label.
>> And now now somebody could easily
counter you there, Berg, and say
>> Deadpool and Wolverine R-rated. And it
was, I mean, mostly R-rated for, I
guess, cartoonish violence and certainly
some language. there were fbombs and
there was plenty of uh dick jokes and
whatever. Uh and that movie made an
Avengers
money,
>> but maybe that is like the corner of the
franchise that can get away with it.
>> I think it is. I think with Deadpool,
it's a little bit of I know tons of
people whose kids go see Deadpool. No
shade, no shade to the parents or
anything, but I think it's also a little
bit of like uh Ryan Reynolds
hard R humor is kind of like uh Oh,
>> okay. Sorry, we we'll interrupt uh uh
for some breaking.
>> These thoughts will be saved. Okay, the
opening night panel at Cineacon begins
with Sony Pictures head Tom Rothman
introducing Ellis Jacob, CEO of
Cinniplex, 2026 Legend of Cinema Award
honore. a muchdeserved recognition and a
smart move considering the frosty US
Canadian relations in the past year.
Please keep
>> dot dot dot
>> please keep supporting our movies.
Canadians,
>> okay, Cinniplex, I guess being a uh
Canadian-based chain.
>> Canadian sound off in the chat. Tell me
your favorite thing to get at Tim
Hortons. What's your regular order? Um,
and
>> throw us a looney while you're at it.
>> Yeah, toss a looney in the chat.
>> Maybe a tuni. Uh, you were just saying
that yeah, the particular Ryan
Reynolds's style of kind of like dirty
Rybald humor.
>> It's a little bit like the the the dirty
humor like an uncle tells to his teenage
like nephew or niece cuz you can get
away with it. It's not like you know
really hard. I think the stuff that's
going to be in Avengers and I think
Disney's a little bit more protective of
Avengers as a franchise than they are
with Deadpool. Like Deadpool's kind of
their flyer, you know, like
>> um but uh but yeah. Okay, we're getting
a couple super chats
>> and I'll just say one one last thing on
that to to go back to that super
chatters like do you think gruesome
deaths might necessitate an rated?
>> Here's the thing.
>> I think there will be some gut-wrenching
deaths from an emotional standpoint.
>> They do not need to be gruesome. When
Tony Stark died, I was it was a little
dusty in my theater. You know what I'm
talking about? Yeah. Or or Spider-Man
dusting, but like there was virtually no
blood in either e either of those
instances. And I don't think they need
it's like do you need to see like
Embaku's spine ripped out of his back to
really care about
>> Fatality? I mean yeah like Gwen Stacy
and Amazing Spider-Man 2 like that's
that's gut-wrenching but like Yeah.
>> Yes.
>> Um okay we got Exploding Luke uh for
008. Uh what are the $5 super chat?
Thank you. Exploding Luke. What are the
chances in your opinion of any of the
defenders showing up in Brand New Day
over or under 20%.
>> Under 20%.
>> I I think I think zero. We had to be
convinced they're going to show up in
Daredevil Born again.
>> Yeah. I mean, well, we did get that Mike
Mike Coulter posted a picture earlier
today but
>> his IMDb should just be filled with
Instagram posts at this point because I
feel like all the defenders are more on
Instagram than they are in that show. We
were told multiple times. We've been
given trailers that Jessica Jones is in
this season of Born Again.
>> I I think she
>> Not yet.
>> Yeah, not yet. Yeah. Also, I heard she
was going to be in four episodes.
There's only three episodes left that I
have not watched yet. Uh, and she's not
in
>> Maybe she's just like doubling up in
each, you know, maybe it's a it's a
Michael B. Jordan Sinners kind of
situation where you get
>> two Jessica Joneses.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Maybe we get like a smoke
stack twins, JJ twins. Um, but yeah, I
think we'll get Jessica Jones for sure.
like I I don't think or in Daredevil in
Brand New Day, the aside from Frank
Castle, the connectivity between Brand
New Day and uh the the rest of the
Disney Plus MCU seems tenuous at best.
And I think that goes back towards these
like, you know, arcane Byzantine legal
arrangements Sony and Marvel have had to
make over the years to share characters
that happen to live in New York, you
know, and so I don't think we're going
to get any anything from Daredevil
beyond uh
>> Agreed. No, I will say um
>> it was, you know, it was a really fun
little audience pop when Matt Murdoch
shows up in No Way Home.
>> Loved it.
>> Briefly does not have a significant
impact on the plot.
>> Never suits up as Daredevil, right? But
like those that knew, right, really
really went nuts for a moment if we got
maybe I don't think I don't think uh
Mike Coulter or Finn Jones or maybe even
uh Christian Ritter would have the
similar effect, but maybe Matt Murdoch
again. Do we get just Daredevil showing
up again in Brand New Day? Maybe. But
I'd still say under 20%.
>> Yeah. Yeah, I think I think under 20% is
uh is correct. Um, we have a $10 super
chat from I know Juice. Um, what is
something Dr. Doom could or should do
that you think will make audiences put
him on the level of the goat villain
like in the comics? Not many casuals
know who Doom is or what he does.
>> I actually disagree with you there. I
think even people who have never read a
comic book know of Dr. Doom. The the
metal mask is iconic. I I think he's
more note I think he's more noteworthy
than Thanos pre-MCU.
>> I 100% agree. His embrace in pop
culture, whether that be in in in arcane
indie rap like MF Doom and and Ghost
Face Killer or just like the the mask is
like an alltime mask. You've seen it if
you've seen like a cartoon or whatever.
I think awareness is pretty decent on
Dr. Doom, even if people don't know
about Latia and a lot of the backstory
and all the crazy comic
>> arcs. I think also it's it's easy to
forget Doom's been around for 60 years.
Yes.
>> You know, like like you know, Doom is
one of the like my father who is
>> a boomer, you know, like he read
Fantastic 4 comics when he was my
daughter's age and Doom was there then,
you know, like
>> multiple generations.
>> I think that uh you know, I think that
people rightly memory hole uh the
earlier outings of the Fantastic 4
cinematically I think they didn't really
connect with a lot of people. I totally
get why. Um, but I think we forget that
part of the reason they were able to
make those Fantastic 4 movies when they
did is because the Fantastic 4 and their
villains had such like kind of name
recognition and Doom is absolutely a
part of that.
>> Yeah, I think it but to go back to your
question and we're obviously not talking
about the Sony panel here, but we got to
fill time so [ __ ] it. You know what I
mean? Uh, there's a little R-rated. This
this stream just got Rrated. I thought
smoke a cigarette. We already got the R.
>> Hell yeah, dog. Um,
I think I'm very interested and I think
the biggest question mark around these
two movies, Doomsday and Secret Wars, is
like why is it Robert Downey Jr.?
>> Yeah.
>> And just like the casting alone
adds a level of mystery and strangeness
and befuddlement.
>> A real WTF factor.
>> Yes. Yeah.
>> And so I think like that inherently like
you could, you know, we never saw Josh
Brolan physically as Thanos, you know
what I mean? That was a fully CGI
character. I bet if you asked everybody
that saw in game who played Thanos, a
quarter of them would not be maybe much
larger would not be able to name Josh
Brolan. Right. No, nobody watching the
stream, but I'm talking about those
casuals out there. Uh whereas we're
going to see a lot of Robert Denny Jr.'s
face in these movies.
>> I think so. and and he has a very
recognizable face, especially to Marvel
fans. So, like I think that alone and
how they work their way up and like what
his arc is in the first movie, you know,
Infinity War and Endgame Thanos are kind
of the same guy.
>> Yeah.
>> Right. Or people have pointed out that
like Infinity War is really a Thanos
movie and then he's kind of like, you
know,
>> he sort of shows up towards the end of
>> Endgame is more like a Tony Avengers
movie, whatever. But like, you know,
>> there's a lot of speculation. We don't
know the plot of these two films, but
that uh Doom is going to have a much
wider arc across these two movies. He
might be a completely different kind of
character in Doomsday than he is in
Secret of Wars. Uh, and so I think like
if they're able to stick some of these
things, people will be like, "Oh,
there's the new
>> I think they're going to make him uh
just tragic enough, you know?" Like I
don't think they're I don't I don't
think he's going to get redeemed or
sympathetic the way like Loki has or
something, but I think he's going to
wind up being like a Killilmonger type
where you're like,
>> he's got some points.
>> Doom was right. Print those shirts now.
>> Yeah. You know,
>> um, but yeah. Uh, we got a super chat
here. Uh, I hate uh Quancha. uh $2 super
chat saying Legends of Zelda Majora's
Mask movie would go crazy. Look, I I'll
say this because I know there's a lot of
people in the chats after I said the N64
Zeldas are no good. You're all wrong.
>> You're all you're all incorrect. I'm I'm
so sorry. Uh Link to the Past is great.
Everything uh and the the the Wii Zelda
the the go the one with that bow and
arrow thing. But uh but yeah, you're
right. People love Major's Mask. It's
not my favorite, but I do think it would
go crazy, and I think they're
remastering it. I believe I saw a
headline about recently.
>> Oh, interesting.
>> Um, well, and I'm sure Sony would love
it if this movie is so successful that
they are able to launch a franchise and
do another one of these movies every two
and a half years or whatever.
>> Dave M1411, $5 super chat. Shout out to
Berg from Connecticut, our greatest
former resident since, Shondaanda Rimes.
Now, I wanna I want to throw something
out there and far be it for me to
bismerch Dave M1 1411's good name. I
think you're drunk.
>> Hell yeah.
>> You put me and Shondaanda Rimes in the
same sense. She's way better than I am.
>> East Coast 10 p.m. There there must have
been like I don't know some basketball
players maybe. Maybe maybe
>> not everybody from Yukon.
There's got to be some people but but it
definitely top 10. You're not far off.
Um, while we're Oh, go ahead.
>> Oh, no. I was just going to say also
like if you're in Connecticut and you're
drunk, that means you bought all your
liquor at the store before 8:00 p.m. The
blue laws mean you can't buy any alcohol
from a grocery store after 8:00 p.m. on
Sunday.
>> Any day of the week, 8 p.m.
>> At some point when I was a kid, they
were like, "That's too strict. You can
buy it until 8:30." You know, like
>> blueird blue
>> law. Again, I I grew up in a county. The
county next to us was 100% dry. So, like
on the edge of our county were all the
liquor stores because it's like, you
know, those people are still drinking
just inconveniently. Anyways, uh I just
wanted to do while we're waiting for
more Sony news to come out of this panel
and it's probably going to start coming
fast and furious, including Spider-Man:
Brand New Day, some other things. Um I
want to talk about uh some friends of
ours.
>> Oh, yeah. Here we go.
>> Curiosity Box.
>> Yes. Uh Vsauce sent us this Curiosity
Box. Uh, and so you know, this is a uh I
believe is it a monthly or quarterly
subscription box?
>> Let's see. I believe it's monthly, but
I'm not positive. We've been having a
lot of fun with it in the office. Uh,
there's a bunch of like little like
nerdy things in here. Uh-oh. I somehow
started the the auto scroll
>> while you find those specific words. So,
they sent us this box. Uh, we're kind of
working with them. There'll be a link in
this video's description. Click on this.
This is uh from the YouTube creator uh
Vsauce who does um what's the he does a
convention in San Francisco called uh
something with sauce in it. But it's
it's it's like a little loot crate kind
of thing, but they're all fun science
things. And this is when I saw this. So
my my daughter I have a three-year-old
daughter. She really likes hard-boiled
eggs. Okay. Whatever it's it's a protein
I can get. your kid decides they like
something, you will feed them nothing
but that for a year. You're so happy
they're eating.
>> And you know, I never thought anything
of it. Obviously, there were a lot of uh
hard-boiled eggs in some people's lives
recently with Easter, but um I never
thought anything of it. I'm like, "Okay,
hard-boiled eggs. I'll just make those
for then." In this box they sent us, it
came with some hard-boiled egg molds.
Okay, put this one up to the camera. I
don't know if you can see this. This is
Albert Einstein's face with his tongue
sticking out. Okay. This one is makes a
diamond shape. And this one makes a uh a
six-sided die uh shape. And what you do,
I've I've done this. I've tested these
products out and they are a hit. You
hard boil an egg. When it's still hot,
you crack the shell. You throw it in one
of these molds, stick it in the fridge.
By the time it cools down, it is in this
shape. Have do you know the kind of
parent points you get when you send to a
kid's preschool?
>> A lunch with a headshaped hardboiled
egg.
>> Something that shows you've gone the
extra step to delight your child. Give
them something to show off to the other
kids.
>> And then and like this is not a kit that
is meant for children, right? Uh and in
fact, like you wouldn't let a child hard
boil eggs or whatever, right? But uh
children can get enjoy from it. Uh but
this uh kit also um this one was also a
big hit with my daughter. We had our own
little box. So this um this is a a
little stuffed thing that is uh when you
look at it this way, it is a duck, but
when you look at it this way, it is a
rabbit.
>> Yeah. One of those famous like uh and
they have a whole bunch of those that
come with the kits month after month.
Those those like two view plushies. We
also have this uh cool
uh uh serpings uh party punch. Uh
>> it it tells you how to make enriched
uranium.
>> Yes,
>> it that is a recipe for a ur enriched
uranium. Uh uh I am I am thrilled with
this kit. It was legitimately one of
these things where it was like every one
of the little items was kind of
interesting and fun. Uh,
>> this this is my favorite is there's a
it's going to be difficult to see from
where where you guys are, but it's a
magnetic pin that's the periodic table
in the shape of a snail. It maintains
the columns that make the periodic table
so useful. So, you could see the uh
orbital shells and all that sort of
stuff. And it has the different groups
labeled. We have the transition metals,
the lanthnides and actides. Weirdly
enough, the noble gases are not labeled.
I assume if you're this deep in that you
need a different shape periodic table,
you already know what the noble gases
are up to. Um, yeah. So, this is great.
So, this is uh this is the Curiosity
Box. Uh, we'll have a link in the uh uh
in the description um where you can go
check it out. You can get a a Curiosity
Box of your very own, have some stuff to
play with, and you'll help support our
channel, help keep live streams like
this happening. Uh, so thanks again to
Curiosity Box for being a sponsor of our
Cineacon coverage,
>> and it makes a great gift. Let's say
yes, you got kind of a a nerdy sciency
mom. Mother's Day is coming up, guys.
You know what's not too far after
Mother's Day? Father's Day
>> from from the daddies at NR.
>> From the NR daddies. Oh, speaking of
which, we got a clarification super
chat. I don't know, Brian, if you can
pull it up. If not, I'll try to scroll
up and find it from uh from the the
daddy commenter from majel.vide videos
$10 super chat. This is how important
they felt it was to clarify. I didn't
mean daddy in that way or father way.
>> So wait, neither of the common usages of
daddy.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Here we go. I I didn't mean
daddy in that way or father way. Just
glazing both of you. Specifically, Greg
Samore, although he did correct later
Berg. I meant Berg. People need to give
him his handsome flowers. Thank you so
much. Uh, but also I love X-Men storm
film over under 20%.
>> A solo Storm film. I like where your
head's at. Under 20%.
>> Didn't they write a whole fake script to
give to Halib Berry to get her back on
board for one of the X-Men movies? She
came out recently in an interview and
said something like that she had been
given a script that was like a storm
solo.
>> You know what? It it landed on her
doorstep the same day that the Catwoman
script.
>> She You could only pick one.
>> She's like, "Do I have to do the accent
for the whole movie? I'll do Catwoman."
Yeah.
>> Um, yeah, I I think it's be very
interesting what we know there is a
confirmed X-Men movie coming in 2028. It
might be the very first Marvel movie we
get after Secret Wars. Uh, and we don't
know anything after that, right? And we
don't know what the plan for the X-Men
franchise is. Do we just get an X-Men
team movie every two years? Do they
immediately start doing solo films?
Probably not. Um,
>> I feel like Will I I would be so
surprised if they didn't spin the X-Men
off into solo movies, but also I guess
they never really did that with anyone
except Wolverine, right?
>> Except for Wolverine. And the hit rate
on those was
>> not 100%.
>> It got really good by the end.
>> The hits are the hits are good. The the
James Mangold Wolverine movies are great
>> and and famous stories of trying to get
more of them off the ground, right? But
they they never did, which was
interesting. Yeah. Um, I like that. Will
$89.89 $5 super chat. Thank you very
much. What are the odds we see
Spider-Man in the Punisher special money
line? Yes. No. Over 120%. Plus 150 if
it's just a cameo. What's the nice work,
Will? 89.89.
Uh I feel like you came straight from a
bar stool stream over to our stream. Um
>> yeah, I think that's really interesting.
I think though it might make sense
narratively, I there's zero chance on Z
uh fully under uh your plus 150 is way
off because they're not Tom Holland
cannot appear on Disney Plus.
>> Yes, that's
>> not without contracts and big money.
They have a theatrical deal for
Spider-Man uh in live action, but not a
Disney Plus deal, unfortunately. And I
think what we've been told and like the
footage we've seen from the Punisher
special presentation which came out I
think last week or the week before
>> uh the trailer for it was last um it
feels like it is a pretty self-contained
story. It is a lot of Frank Castle uh
dealing with demons and things he sees
in his head. Maybe even we've heard
rumors that it's like
>> it's it takes place over one day. It's
kind of like one big fight shootout kind
of sequence. So maybe it makes sense
that we wouldn't see kind of the broader
New York landscape. Now it will be very
interesting if there is any connective
tissue between that that special
presentation and brand new day like does
it does the special pres presentation
end in some way in which
>> the last shot of the special
presentation is him getting into the
Punisher mobile and driving down after
that?
>> I would love that. Like like how Andor
ends and you can go straight into Rogue
One. Oh, that'd be dope if you could
watch them uh in in direct order. Yeah.
>> Um yeah, I mean uh Oh, here we go. Uh
okay. Loi girl, lore enthusiast, $5
super chat. If you had to choose a
rockstar member to fight Doom, who do
you think it would be?
>> And you're saying like a member of our
staff?
>> I think a member of our staff to fight
doom.
>> Now, we are we are a staff of lovers,
not fighters.
>> I um
>> I might say Abby. She just ran a
marathon. She's probably the most
athletic person on staff.
>> That's true. Right. If it's an endurance
test.
>> Yeah. Yeah. What better fight are we
getting? If we need if we're going up
against doom and pub trivia and the
subject is marine biology, I will take
him down. Latvaria is landlocked. He
does not have an appreciation for the
seas. Um
>> yeah, I mean none of us are gonna have
good uh
>> I'm certainly he he could bring out just
one tiny tech thing and I would
>> I will say um Brian is younger than both
of us. Yeah.
>> So I feel like he might, you know, be
more robust physically. Um I I try to uh
stay in peak fighting shape and by that
I mean my back hurts when I get out of
bed. Um I
>> was going to say like just sitting here
I'm like, "Oh god, no."
>> We should That was a great question. Uh
yeah, that yeah, sure. I'll go with
Abby. Um uh Jessica, I feel like Jessica
could put up a good fight.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Um there is some some behind
the scenes that's not coming from the
New Rockstars account, but our friends
over at Discussing Film have reported a
couple things about the Sony panel,
specifically that uh Dwayne Johnson,
Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Zack Kger
are among the talent spotted backstage
at the panel. Now, those first three
names are for the Jumanji film, Karen
Gillan, uh, No Love. She has apparently
not been spotted. Maybe she's wearing a
bucket hat. I don't know. Um, or they
didn't fly her out. And then Zack Kger,
uh, writer director of the Resident Evil
movie. There's also been a a logo for
the Resident Evil movie has been
released. That's in theaters September
18th. It is, um,
>> we're getting a new tweet from Eric
here. Comedian Nate Bargatesy is on
stage to lead Sony's Cineacon panel.
He's wearing a tux.
>> Okay. Wonder what the connection between
him and this is. Does he have a comedy
special? Does he have maybe a
>> comedy special coming out? But it's it's
part of Netflix is a joke fest. It's
like Big Dumb eyes or something like
that. Um we have a super chat two pound
super chat from Blue Monkey MK. Blue
Monkey go to bed. Uh I love your channel
and have watched it for years. Thank you
so much Blue Monkey. We appreciate you
being here.
>> Okay, so Nate Bargotsi is in The Bread
Winner. I think that is a um a movie
kind of like built around him and maybe
that is a Sony movie. Um so maybe he's
talking about his own movie too. Plus
he's hosted award shows and stuff like
that. Uh oh, Will Forte and Mandy Moore
and Colin Yoast are also in that. Zach
Cherry, Camille Nanjani. Wow, quite the
cast in the bread winner. Okay. Um, it's
not just like the Burke Chryser movie or
something like that. No offense to Burke
Chryser, but also offense to Burke
Chryser.
>> Uh, we've got, uh, while we're waiting
to see what Nate Bargatsi is saying, uh,
super chat $2 from, uh, Katyanne 8107.
Rogue and Beast casting rumors. Now, is
is not Beast going to be Kelsey Grammar
again? Well, so in in Doomsday, it is
Kelsey Grammar, but Jeff Snyder of the
Hot Mic podcast and the In Snider
newsletter has been teasing that he has
heard um that those he he has heard who
the casting is going to be and it will
be coming out soon. He specifically has
cited that uh Peter, what's his name?
But uh Dunk from uh Night of the Seven
Kingdoms is going to be cast as Beast,
which is interesting casting. That actor
is like 6'8.
>> Yeah, that's a huge
>> is a very large man. But like, you know
what I kind of like about that?
>> If if we spend a lot of time with beast
pre blue fur transformation,
>> yeah,
>> you need somebody whose physical stature
can kind of convey beastlikeness.
>> Yeah. Like I I thought Nicholas Hol was
great as beast, but he didn't he wasn't
imposing.
>> Yes. And and this gentleman, Peter
Laffy, I think is his name. I'm I'm
forgetting his last name, but and then
um that Adessa Aen or whatever from um
uh I love LA and Marty Supreme has been
cast as Rogue. Now that is largely based
on I think her hair which is flowing and
curly and brown and you can see put a
little white streak in that and she kind
of looks like comic book rogue. Yeah.
But there were immediately people kind
of coming out and and saying like no
that's not right or that's just him
saying that. So I don't know. I think
both of those could be great. I also
think both those actors are under 30, I
believe. And it does feel like,
especially if Satie Sink is Sheen Gray,
they're going to go for a younger cast.
>> I think something that they are looking
at with X-Men, is they're looking at
Hugh Jackman and saying, "Holy crap, we
struck gold. We had the same guy playing
Wolverine for 30 years." You know, like
James Bond hasn't we haven't had the
same James Bond, the same Captain Kirk,
you know, like the same Batman. Like no,
no character has stayed the same in that
time uh over as many movies, you know.
>> Yes. In years. Uh Peter Clafy is the
name of the United Seven Kingdoms actor.
Um yeah, and I think that's it's going
to be a tall order. I think it's gonna
be very interesting to see how
at some point the X-Men castings are
going to start rolling out. Uh, that
movie is not in production yet. As far
as we know, it's not even that close.
Again, if it's not till 2028, they don't
need to start shooting that till maybe
like the end of next year.
>> I believe they just announced the
screenwriters this past week, right?
>> Yeah. And it's the two writers on from
Beef and the Bear, uh, who've worked
with the director Jake Shy as he is a
producer on Beef and and whatever. And
they both wrote the Thunderbolts movie.
Um, but like they are writing the script
for the X-Men movie. I don't know that
they have written the script for the
X-Men. I mean that there that could mean
so many you know you know development
like that that could mean that they're
sitting in a in a room drinking coffee
six hours a day going like I would love
to see these two characters fight and
like that might be the stage it's at
right
>> and and probably for Marvel it's a lot
of like hey can we use this guy and
they're like you can't use that guy we
got plans for him. Um, okay. We got a
little update from Eric here. Now on
stage at the Sony presentation at
Cineacon 2026 is a presentation by
Barco, co-sponsor of the event and HDR
company, who played a goofy short film
about a woman who goes through a door
from a muted color world to a violent a
vibrant HDR world. Also not tweet
worthy, but it's what's going on right
now. So, this is the equivalent of the
like um uh Dolby surround commercial you
see before your film begins.
>> Sounds like Sony is getting some
preamble out. I'm surprised they don't
have Maria Manunos out there just
announcing this stuff.
>> Guys, subscribe to Heel Squad. Maria
needs it, you know.
>> Uh so, more Morton more not news. Um a
couple things I wanted to touch on. B,
we were talking a little bit before. So
there were two smaller panels earlier
today from actually three from smaller
studios.
>> Uh Studio Canal which is a French film
company. Um a lot of times when you
watch a foreign film you might see their
little logo pop up but they also make
English language stuff including they
are the driving force behind the
Paddington franchise. Um and they
announced that there is a fourth
Paddington movie in development.
>> Yeah.
>> As having seen all three Paddingtons and
really enjoyed them. Paddington Peru saw
it in the theater. Uh, sounds great. I
trust them. Um, and then two things. I
have I have takes on both these. They
announced kind of reboots, reimaginings
of two older films. They are rebooting
Escape from New York and they are
reimagining Joe Dante's The Howling, a
werewolf movie from the early 80s.
>> Yeah, it was like 81, right? I think
it's preg Gremlins.
>> Oh, yeah. I think you're right.
>> I think it's preg Gremlins. It But I it
might be post piranha.
>> Okay. Yeah, probably. I can't remember
the timing of that in Florida, but same
same era. Joe,
>> here here's my thing on I've recently
rewatched Escape from New York. Um the
um
>> John
>> John Carpenters's Escape from New York.
He later made Escape from LA. John
Carpenter is ripe for reimagining. A lot
of times people say when a movie is
great, never remake it because it's
already good and whatever. John
Carpenters's movies are good, but they
are very of their era. Escape from New
York is a lot of fun. It looks like they
spent $132 on it.
>> Oh, I I think that would that's given.
>> It's on the top end. That's on the top
end. He was literally like duct taping
special effects and like and and it's
supposed to be set in this like
technological future and like it does
amazing work giving the constraints.
>> Oh, it's it's so fun, but you can see
it.
>> Yes. Yeah.
>> And it is a classic premise of New York
has been turned into a prison island,
but uh the president has been shut down
in there and we've got to send in the
world's biggest badass to pull the
president. of of a prison island New
York. Yeah, that's fun, right? It's
pretty high content.
>> Escape from LA. He's got to save the
president's daughter, I think.
>> Yes. From LA has become a prison island.
>> There was an earthquake and it fell.
>> Escape from LA doesn't work nearly as
well. But, um, I think that is a perfect
thing for reimagining. A lot is going to
depend on the casting. Who plays
Snakelkin?
>> Well, and who's directing it.
>> Yes. You got to get somebody who's fun,
who knows action.
>> Yeah. I was going to say like I don't
want it reinvisioned as like a gritty
>> No, you don't. John Wick this.
>> You don't John Wick this. You also don't
Jack Black this. You know what I mean?
Like it's it's got there's a certain
level of
>> carpenter like you know I think of they
live
>> as like you know Btier Carpenter that is
also somehow like pure carpenter you
know like it's campy. It's goofy. It
knows what it's doing. It has a sense of
humor about the absurdity of its
premise.
>> But it is but it is not winking either.
>> It's not winking. It's it's it's like
>> it's kind of dead serious about its very
ridiculous
>> premises. It's so good. But yeah, I
think someone who could do that with
Escape from New York, I I I would watch
that hands down.
>> And and The Howling, I've seen it once,
but I'm less familiar. And again, I also
don't mind that cuz for me, and I know
there are people that belove those '8s
horror movies, uh um what's the Fright
Night, the Howling, the Hunger, like a
lot of those type of movies. I don't
hate reimagining those because again a
lot of the special effects do not hold
up to modern uh veillances and like when
things like visuals take you out of a
movie it also cuts the tension and the
scariness.
>> Yeah, you want to stay in it.
>> Not for everybody but for me it does. So
I could see that working. Also Studio
Canal's like they got a Danny Bole movie
about a young Rupert Murdoch. Fun.
There's a Eli Roth horror movie called
The Ice Cream Man. The trailer for that
is out. You can go see that. Um, and
then I do love this. I don't know if
this is gonna be a good movie, but they
have a Taran Edgarton movie called
Everybody Wants to [ __ ] Me.
>> Now, hang on one second. This is a
hilarious place to break off. Sarah
Hatchadorian, who I rarely believe, uh,
is telling us that we have a look at the
Spider-Verse photo, uh, a Spider-Verse
photo over on Discussing Film. Brian, is
it possible to pull that up uh, on the
the big screen back here behind us?
Okay, I've got um well, on their
Twitter, they do not have it up yet.
They they do have a tweet that says,
"The team behind Beyond the Spider-Verse
are backstage at Cineacon. Turn on
notifications."
>> Okay.
>> Uh at least as of right now, me. There
it is. That's the tweet there.
>> They're torturing a small wooden man.
And as someone who grew up on Pinocchio,
I can't abide that kind of behavior.
>> Um uh but all that going back to the
much more oppressive Taran Eggerton,
everyone wants to [ __ ]
>> Everybody wants to [ __ ] me. And I just
read the one sentence pitch is that uh a
man discovers that every woman in the
world is stalking him and wants to [ __ ]
him,
>> which sounds like a crazy
>> This could go either way.
>> Psychopathic fever dream fantasy
fulfillment kind of thing. But good for
them for getting an Fbomb into their
movie title.
>> I'll take it. I'll take it. Now, the the
other big uh slate of uh awards today
was the um I'm blanking on the name of
it. the PE people who did Sound of
Freedom.
>> Angel Studios also had a little panel.
>> Uh we got a shot of Jeff Daniels as
Ronald Reagan.
>> Yes.
>> Uh they have an Allen uh
>> Alan Richson. And the trailer for that
movie has been released called Runner.
Alan Richson and Owen Wilson weirdly. Uh
>> delivering a liver to a
>> Yeah. And it kind of has some
extraction. There's there's fights and
car chases and stuff like that. So
that's theirs.
>> Uh we got a super chat from Hannah Basso
1398. Uh, what do you think Sony could
shock everyone with tonight?
>> I mean, if they announced
live action Miles Morales
>> Yeah.
>> movie standalone.
>> Yeah.
>> I think that would be shocking, would be
smart, would be like, "Yes, please."
Right.
>> Something like that. Like, what if
they're like, "No more of these C-tier
spider villains. Let's figure out how we
can have a spider movie almost every
year."
>> Yes. And that's have let's have a
concurrent franchise.
>> Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. I think that
would I think that would really blow
everybody's mind. I think also,
>> you know, we know he's there. Uh Zack
Kger coming off of Weapons, I think kind
of has a golden ticket for about a year.
Yes. At least. At least. I I think
probably much more. I'm really a fan of
his.
>> But um I think he could come out and be
like, "Yeah, you know what? We're going
to do four Resident Evil movies." or you
know like it's it's possible we get some
kind of Kgerverse announcement. Uh you
know we know that they're working on a
prequel to Glattis using a lot of
material that was originally supposed to
be in weapons that was cut for time. Um
you know uh so that won't be a surprise
so much as a confirmation of maybe what
the direction of that will be and flavor
of that will be. Um but I I think we
could see some big Zack Kger news even
beyond Resident Evil tonight.
>> Yes. Yeah. His two announced projects on
IMDb. He only has the Glattis kind of
prequel and Resident Evil and and he's
listed as a director for both. I don't
know that like that there could be kind
of like a James Juan style thing of like
he becomes a producer. He kind of hands
it off. Something like that. Or or maybe
like this guy's like, "Yeah, I'll I'll
just direct one movie a year every year.
Eat [ __ ] Jordan Peele."
>> You know what I mean? Like uh eat eat
[ __ ] Terrence Malik. I don't know. Name
somebody else that takes a long time to
make a movie. Tarantino make 10 movies.
That's it. You know?
>> Yeah. Cracker's like, "I'll make 10
movies this decade." Dummies.
>> Yes.
>> Love it.
>> Um, okay. Real quick. Uh, oh, we got
another super chat here. Angel Garcia
6892. Uh, I think there is a huge chunk
of the general audience that only know
Doom from the first two Fantastic Four
movies and not his comic book lore. Woe
be unto they who know him only from
those films.
>> Big Julian McMahon stands out there.
>> Yeah. RP. RIP. Everyone go watch
everyone go watch the Surfer. What was
this final movie with Nick Cage? It was
great.
>> I think that was it. Yeah.
>> Um, uh, $5 super chat from ISJ 1394. Not
a question. I just want to say thank you
for everything you all do. I look
forward to your content every day and
appreciate how hard you all work. We are
not nurses or first responders, but we
will take your thanks. Thank you, ISJ
1394.
>> Hey, you know what? The placebo effect
is real, Berg. And I fully believe that
if they believe we are making them
healthier and feel better,
>> I'll take it. I'll take it.
>> Yes.
>> Um, okay. Uh, this one is for Zach. Uh,
I'm not going to tell you why. You'll
figure it out when I read it. Uh, got to
go bam. $5 super chat. Over or under
20%. We get at least one MF Doom needle
drop in Doomsday.
>> Oo.
>> You think we get something from M Food
or maybe like uh what was the album he
did with the uh with Aquatine?
>> Yeah. I mean,
>> or him and him and uh Zarface have a
pretty good pretty
>> I bet. I bet even if it's like very
subtle like just a car is driving by
with a window down and you you hear like
some you know a little bit of hip-hop or
whatever
>> I do think that that is likely they got
they got a Ghostface Killer track into
the first Iron Man movie um for similar
reasons. I think I take the over on
that.
>> Here we go. Here we go. We got a tweet
from from the New Rockstars account in
the room in Vegas. Sony Pictures
chairman Tom Rothman is back on stage at
Cineacon. He predicts 2026 will be an
Olympic level year for all studios.
>> Tom, 2028 is Olympic.
>> Yeah, please. LA28, baby. Uh, good luck
getting a $28 ticket. Uh, while
admitting admissions are still
recovering postco, he touts a wide slate
of programming from Sony coming this
year, he urges the industry reps in the
crowd for longer theatrical windows,
shorter pre-show ads. Damn right, says
someone in the crowd. Rothman ends his
bit with get off the ad crack. Rothman
also pushes for cheaper tickets. I'm
team Rothman. I have to admit Tom
Rothman who is an old salty dog and I
mean that high compliment is famous for
giving very kind of like blunt
interviews. He was not too long ago he
was on uh uh Matt Matt Belly's the town
uh podcast where he kind of talked about
wide ranging topics including a lot of
like good Spider-Man topics. think Eric
cited that interview in um in a video on
New Rockstars. Uh interesting. So like
there's that push pull. It's interesting
that he So one of those things he's
saying to the other movie studios that
they should have longer theatrical
windows because it is the movie studio
that controls how long a movie stays in
theaters before it goes to VOD or or
streaming or or physical media or
whatever, right? Whereas then he's
saying to the theater chains, quit quit
showing as many ads and make tickets
cheaper. And it is kind of like there
are these two sidebyside industries that
need each other, but they have different
agendas and sometimes they're doing
things that kind of hurt the other,
right? Like the biggest talk uh in
Cineacon over the last couple years has
been the shortening theatrical window,
right? um during the pandemic it that
got shrunken and a lot it hasn't come
back for a lot of different studios. How
long they go um from when a movie is
released in theaters to when it is
available for paid purchase um at home.
Um Universal famously has cut that down
to like 17 days for some movies like two
weeks and change. Uh Disney has kept
firm by like I think 60 days at a
minimum and for some of their movies.
>> Well, and they got in trouble for that
with uh ScarJo.
>> Well, yeah, the pandemic for the Black
Widow. Uh but so like there's push pull
and Stephen Bravy Studio, but Universal
has announced they're trying to move.
They're trying to get back to having it
be longer. That'll help the studios.
>> Now, the chat is saying that Bra brand
new day is being showcased right now in
the room. So, uh,
>> uh, let's see. Oh, here we go. Sony
Cinem panel begins with an update about
Spider-Man Brand New Day. Tom Rothman
says, "Brand New Day is the biggest
thing we've ever made, but it feels like
nothing we've ever made." Rothman boasts
that the Brand New Day trailer is the
most viewed trailer in their history
with more than 1 billion views in a
week.
>> Yes. There's an interesting strategy on
that trailer, too. They released it on
like seven different accounts. like the
two seconds of like the the Tik Toks the
day before they released like GIF length
clips.
>> I mean, yeah, I don't know how they're
counting up all the views, but again,
they added up like it's like Sony
gaming, Sony South America, Sony India
or whatever, right? Like all the
different ones. But also,
>> we have a scene incoming. Tom Holland is
on the stage at Cineacon right now, not
in person, but as a pre-recorded
projection on screen standing beside Tom
Rothman. Tom Holland calls Spider-Man:
Brand New Day the most grownup
Spider-Man movie they've ever made.
Spider Dong confirmed.
>> Whoa.
>> I may be reading between the lines.
>> Whoa. Grown up.
>> Spiderhole confirmed. We're getting
some. We're getting genitalia. Tom
Holland basically said as much.
>> Grown up. More like bricked up. Um uh
yeah, last year Tom Holland also sent in
a video of like from the set of Brand
New Day. So this year he's sending in
another video. Um maybe he's popping a
bureau wherever he's at.
>> We're seeing we're seeing chatter from
you the chat that there is a poster up
somewhere. Uh we're maybe discussing
film. Brian, if you can pull that up. Um
give it a refresh. See what's going on.
Um here we go. New posters for
Spider-Man Brand New Day.
>> Okay. So the poster, this one, you got
MJ in the reflection along with New York
City skyline. That's kind of a very,
this is a very classic poster. There's a
lot of the Remy posters were like zoomed
in on the mask. Good reflections there.
Um, very cool.
>> Can we look at the next image?
>> And then this is kind of straight from
the trailer.
>> None of these are showing Dong. It's
weird. I I feel like
>> Well, technically there's multiple Dongs
in this poster. They're just covered in
the camera lens. Um,
>> yeah. Interesting. This this
highlighting of the the hand just which
looks sick.
>> Yes,
>> they are so cinematic looking. They're
so cool looking.
>> I love the flowing robes. Like you get
to see so much motion even in this shot.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. All the red. I really like that.
Yeah, these are great posters.
>> Yeah, that's great. Um, and presumably
they're they're dropping a scene now. I
I have to imagine that scene will hit
YouTube very soon. Uh maybe not tonight,
maybe not while we're streaming. Uh but
you can bet your boots if it does, uh we
will be breaking it down on the channel.
Uh probably knowing Eric, I'm sure he'll
have a script done by like 4 a.m. and
I'll wake up to be like, "Hey, we need
this bacon to eat, you know, or
whatever."
>> Um
okay. Also, we've got Iron Maiden
trending, which is good to know. Uh uh
Sarah Hatchadorian with a $5 super chat
over under 20%. Berg's daughter delivers
him a sick burn before we get Cineacon
doomsday news. Absolutely over 20%.
>> If he were looking at his phone right
now, he would be burned.
>> My daughter burned the Aremis astronauts
on landing. Uh she get she was texting
me live as it was happening. She's like,
"Are you watching?" I was like, "No, I
forgot it was happening. I'm reading a
book." And she was texting me like they
they won't get out of the dang
spaceship. Get into the dang boat
already. Who cares if you fall in the
ocean? just so she's such a weird
crotchety prospector. It's I don't know
how it happened. I'm thrilled about it.
Um but yeah, so I'll definitely get a
burn. Might not be about uh about this.
Uh 279 super chat from Canada. Our
prayers were heard. Our prayers are
being answered by Jamoka 34. Uh what are
we getting today? We're getting
Spider-Man. Um you know, we'll we'll
have more Spider-Man news on what this
scene is soon. I'm sure Eric is typing
as fast as he can. And and to recap
because we've been going for an hour and
a half already.
>> Other things we're expecting. So we're
in the middle of some brand new day uh
news presentation, whatever is coming
out that we are going to relay as soon
as it comes in. We are also expecting
maybe some Beyond the Spider-Verse news
updates footage. Uh something about
Jumanji 4, something about Resident
Evil. Uh possibly something about these
Beatles movies, possibly something about
this Insidious sequel. Who knows what
else they squeeze in before the end of
this panel. We still have upwards of an
extra hour left. Yeah.
>> Uh, Loi Girl lore enthusiast $10 super
chat. Thank you, Loi Girlore Enthusiast.
What are the odds we see Maya Lopez in
Daredevil Born Again season 3 over under
20%.
>> I don't know. They're so busy not
showing us the Defenders. I don't know
if they maybe that won't it will not
show us uh Ekko as well. Yeah, se season
3 feels a little oversted in my opinion
uh at this point four episodes in. Um
you know, so I I don't think we're going
to get Maya Lopez. I I don't think that
was a I think Marvel kind of sandbagged
that one promotionally, but I think it
they did the same thing to Wonderman and
Wonderman popped off for them. So I I
don't think that's a character that has
the the pull to come back more so than
the Defenders who are already swirling
with rumors around it. So, old old
friend Yuca Pria saying sending in a
super chat. It needs more spider dong. I
mean, cowbell. He he could use both.
Technically, technically posters, it's
really hard for them to incorporate
cowbell into a poster.
>> Yes, it's traditionally not the right
medium for something that is known for
its acoustics, but we're always pushing
the boundaries of what's possible with
art.
>> It's like dancing to architecture, you
know? It's really hard to listen to a
poster. Yeah.
>> Uh, okay. Steve LH865 $5 super chat
while we're waiting for more Spider-Man
news. What are the odds Punishers one
last kill is taking out Fisk. Over under
20%.
>> I'd say under.
>> I think under. Yeah,
>> I'd say under. Um
yeah, it it does feel like especially
knowing that Brand New Day season 3 is
already underway. I wouldn't mind if
they moved away from Kingpin in season
three and introduced a new foe, but it
doesn't seem like we're on that path.
>> I I just I like Vincent Denophrio so
much. I think he his performance as
Kingpin is one of the strongest part.
For me, what I want from Daredevil is
more stuff like the Bullseye Diner scene
and just more Kingpin beating the crap
out of guys, you know, like the the rest
of it
>> I'm fine on, you know, like but if I
think if we lost Vincent Denrio, those
would be pretty big shoes to fill.
>> Yeah, I agree. Maybe we move out beyond
him being the mayor and get back to him
being a gangster. Maybe. Yeah.
>> Uh, Blue Monkey MK 2 lb super chat. Do
you want the next Wolverine to be
smaller? Hell yeah. Give me Peter
Dinklage's Wolverine. I'll take it.
>> Give Give us the short king uh
Wolverine. Not that doesn't have to be
Dinklage Small. So Dinglage might be too
old at this point.
>> Too old. Yeah.
>> Um yeah. I mean we earlier were talking
about Taran Edggerton. That's somebody
who people have been f casting as
Wolverine. Oh yeah.
>> For a minute as he is a kind of a stocky
gentleman who is under six feet tall. I
don't know his exact height. Um yeah. I
mean, you know, a lot of people question
the casting of Hugh Jackman when he was
initially cast as he is well over six
feet tall and is kind of a life framed
gentleman. I think nobody questions it
now. He has embodied that role so well.
Absolutely.
>> But it would be nice. Also, it is going
to be a tough ask of anybody. There's
already been three actors that have
played Spider-Man. There's already been
like four different people that we're
getting some chat saying that discussing
film has a scene description of the
Spider-Man scene. Brian, if you could uh
refresh the the Twitter page, CVU play.
Um,
>> okay. Here's I've got discussing film
up.
>> Here we go. We got a a scene description
[100:00] here.
[100:01] >> Ned thinks the true identity of
[100:03] Spider-Man is either Flash Thompson or
[100:05] Mr. Harrington.
[100:07] >> Interesting.
[100:07] >> Sounds like a joke uh piece of footage
[100:11] was shown. Um, funny. Uh,
[100:16] >> maybe maybe a scene from the
[100:18] Okay, here we go. Straight from Eric
[100:20] himself. Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
[100:23] Scene description from Sony Cineacon. It
[100:25] begins with Peter seeing Ned in the
[100:26] bodega. Peter hangs up from hangs up the
[100:29] phone and watches as Ned buys two mini
[100:31] kegs of green jackal beer. Peter follows
[100:34] Ned across the street into an apartment
[100:36] party. In the party, no one knows who
[100:37] Peter is, but a stranger gives him a
[100:39] beer cup. Peter goes into Ned's room and
[100:41] finds his Chewbacca Chewbacca Lego
[100:43] figurine. On Ned's research wall, there
[100:45] are headlines about a parkour prodigy
[100:48] and a skyscraper squatter arrested for
[100:50] the eighth time. Peter then meets Ned,
[100:53] who tells him about a spider tracker app
[100:55] that he invented to help him track down
[100:57] the identity of Spider-Man. Ned says he
[100:59] narrowed it down to two people, Flash
[101:01] Thompson and Mr. Harrington. Then then
[101:04] Zenaia as MJ comes in and makes her
[101:06] friendly neighbor comment that we saw in
[101:08] the trailer. We find out that MJ has a
[101:10] new boyfriend played by Aman Esfondi.
[101:13] Peter sadly watches them kiss. Ned asks
[101:16] MJ about a job she interviewed for. She
[101:18] got the job but turned it down because
[101:20] it was a soulless corporation. Eric says
[101:22] parenthesis oz court.
[101:24] >> That's him speculating.
[101:25] >> That's him speculating. Me speculating.
[101:27] Shortly thereafter we see Spider Dog.
[101:29] >> Whoa. I mean he's at a college party. I
[101:32] feel like they often
[101:33] >> there's a cup of beer. There's a couple
[101:35] pony cakes.
[101:35] >> They often make an appearance in those
[101:37] kinds of situations. But uh first off,
[101:40] this is Eric Voss uh who is in the room
[101:42] at at the Sony presentation.
[101:44] Uh and whose stenography skills par
[101:47] excalons my man is capturing it all in
[101:50] real time as he watches. Uh he has done
[101:53] a lot of breakdowns and watched a lot of
[101:55] scenes of a lot of movies where he has
[101:56] needed to capture the dialogue. Um so
[101:59] this is this feels like this makes a lot
[102:01] of sense. This is an extended scene. We
[102:03] already saw a big chunk of this in the
[102:05] trailer, right? This is maybe just kind
[102:07] of the full scene that we saw pieces of
[102:10] in the trailer for Brand New Day. We're
[102:12] just kind of getting in it in its
[102:13] entirety.
[102:15] I do like that. So, yeah. So, I I love
[102:19] this is setting up a world in which Ned
[102:22] does not know who Spider-Man is.
[102:24] >> Doesn't know who Peter is.
[102:26] >> Doesn't know that Peter is Spider-Man,
[102:28] but Spider-Man is still a known person.
[102:30] But I love like why is he citing uh
[102:33] parkour prodigy and a skyscraper
[102:36] squatter arrested for the eighth time?
[102:39] Like are those are those other names for
[102:42] Spider-Man?
[102:43] >> Maybe. It seems like those would be
[102:46] separate from Spider-Man, right? Like if
[102:49] Spider-Man is known, unless Peter's
[102:51] running around without the costume on
[102:52] for some reason, you know,
[102:54] >> or or or is some kind of parkour
[102:56] prodigy? Could that be a tarantula?
[102:59] Right.
[103:00] >> Could a Could a skyscraper squatter be
[103:03] like the jackal or I I don't know like
[103:06] some other villain? Could these be other
[103:08] things? Because clearly
[103:09] >> he has something called a spider tracker
[103:11] app. So he still knows that there is a
[103:12] Spider-Man character.
[103:13] >> So it feels like parkour prodigy has to
[103:15] be someone else. Yeah. Right.
[103:17] >> Um uh the the PP uh uh
[103:22] >> or sorry I'm I'm I'm now realizing
[103:24] what's going on. So Ned is trying to uh
[103:28] you know red yarn who is Spider-Man.
[103:31] Yes.
[103:31] >> He's doing a bad job because he thinks
[103:33] it's two guys that are definitely not
[103:34] Spider-Man. Obviously now hang on new
[103:36] scene. Uh the Spider-Man brand new day
[103:38] scene shown at Cineacon is followed by a
[103:40] mix of new and old trailer footage. We
[103:43] see a new shot of Spider-Man slide down
[103:45] the side of a skyscraper as Keith
[103:46] Davids. Spiders have three life cycles.
[103:48] More on that in a second. Audio comes
[103:51] back. There's a new short scene of Peter
[103:53] facing some armed soldiers and saying,
[103:55] "Oh, it's gonna be like that." He
[103:57] stretches his neck and then does some
[103:58] lunges. Very reminiscent of Andrew
[104:00] Garfield Spider-Man from the 2012
[104:02] >> kind of jokey uh with the loosen up the
[104:05] shoulders.
[104:06] >> I was just going to say going back and
[104:08] then and then I want you to go off on
[104:10] Keith David Spiders have life cycles. Um
[104:13] I think that that original tweet the Ned
[104:15] quote there. So right Ned is trying to
[104:18] um conspiracy wall figure out who
[104:20] Spider-Man is. So, he's doing research
[104:21] on characters that could be good
[104:23] suspects to be Spider-Man. So, he
[104:26] probably has an unrelated parkour
[104:28] prodigy. That guy might be Spider-Man.
[104:29] Or somebody that is breaking in and
[104:31] squatting in skyscrapers. That could be
[104:33] Spider-Man. They're like likely
[104:35] candidates. I'm assuming that's what
[104:37] that language means. Now, what were you
[104:38] going to say about
[104:38] >> Spider-Man? We got Sony showing a
[104:40] trailer. Now, Sony has moved on from
[104:41] Spider-Man. So, I'll give this update
[104:43] and then I'll go back to complaining
[104:44] about the way life cycles are being used
[104:46] here. Uh, Sony has shared a trailer for
[104:48] Insidious Out of the Further. Out of the
[104:50] future, Out of the Further coming August
[104:52] 20 26. The trailer is coming out
[104:55] publicly online soon. Super frightening.
[104:57] So, we'll keep an eye out for that.
[104:59] >> Now, again, this could have been a a
[105:02] misprint by Eric.
[105:03] >> Out of the Future. Yeah, we were just
[105:05] praising his
[105:06] >> Out of the Further is an awful movie
[105:09] title, but okay.
[105:10] >> We were just praising your stenography
[105:11] skills, Eric. Don't make us take it
[105:13] back. Um,
[105:14] >> okay. Here's the thing. There are life
[105:17] stages which are different from life
[105:19] cycles. Spiders have two life stages.
[105:22] They are generally an egg and then they
[105:24] are small larvae which grow into adults.
[105:26] They don't metamorphos, right? Like as
[105:29] opposed to something like a butterfly
[105:31] where there are several laral instars
[105:32] and then the larvae pupates into a uh
[105:35] into a butterfly through a process of
[105:37] metamorphosis. The term life cycles is
[105:40] very close to life stages but is being
[105:43] used misleadingly here. And even if they
[105:45] were saying life stages, it wouldn't be
[105:48] technically correct for that kind of
[105:50] arachnid. So anyways, that's a very
[105:53] minor point, but it's going to be
[105:54] driving me nuts between now and July
[105:57] 31st or whenever the movie comes out. So
[106:00] uh expect this to not be I'm going to
[106:02] show up sometime with a spider textbook
[106:04] and I'm going to be holding it open
[106:05] going see natural lives of spiders
[106:08] Princeton University Press. Check it
[106:09] out.
[106:09] >> The the trailer Insidious Out of the
[106:11] Further is out and is available. I just
[106:13] shared it with you there, Brian. Um, and
[106:15] that is the real title of the movie, Out
[106:17] of the Further. Now, I'm not familiar
[106:19] with Insidious lore. I didn't see the
[106:21] first movie. So, maybe the further is a
[106:23] known thing. It's a known location or
[106:25] something like that. But though, that is
[106:27] not a further is a is that an that's an
[106:30] adjective or an adverb?
[106:32] >> I don't know. Oh, here we go. Zack Kger.
[106:34] Man, they are flying through these now.
[106:36] A lot of lot of prelude, but now they're
[106:38] just knocking them out. Uh, okay. Zack
[106:40] Kger, director of Weapons of Barbarian,
[106:42] is on stage at Cineacon to talk about
[106:43] his upcoming Resident Evil film. Creger
[106:46] talks about how he loved the Resident
[106:47] Evil games from the Dread to the
[106:49] Resource Management. My girlfriend is
[106:51] currently playing her way through the
[106:52] entire Resident Evil franchise. She was
[106:54] playing Resident Evil 4 when I left the
[106:57] house and she came here to see some
[106:58] kittens. Then she went back to playing
[107:00] Resident Evil 4. She's played through uh
[107:02] Reququum like three or four times. The
[107:04] resource management is key. For those of
[107:06] you who don't know the series, it's a
[107:09] lot like Diablo II where you have like a
[107:11] certain number, you know, it's like a
[107:13] grid and you have to like really
[107:14] organize your suitcase or whatever it is
[107:16] and whichever one you're playing. Um but
[107:19] uh but so I'm curious to see how that
[107:20] translates to the big screen.
[107:22] >> Yeah. How Yeah, that's a rare thing in
[107:24] video game adaptations with really play
[107:26] with the resources. Yes.
[107:27] >> Um, real quick as we wait for further
[107:30] updates that are coming fast and furious
[107:31] from the Sony panel, Carson Robinson,
[107:34] uh, sending in a super chat. Over under
[107:35] 20%. Will we get Flash or Betty in Brand
[107:38] New Day? I would say over 20% on Flash,
[107:42] under 20% on Betty. I don't know.
[107:44] >> He's not been a prominent part of the
[107:46] franchise, but Flash has yet to miss the
[107:47] movie. And I think even the fact that
[107:49] they have already Ned was already
[107:51] quoting him feels like he will show up.
[107:52] >> Yeah, he'll show up for sure. For sure.
[107:55] Um, okay, great. Uh Yuka Pria saying uh
[107:58] should Daredevil season uh $2 super
[108:00] chat. Thank you. Should Daredevil Born
[108:02] Again season 3 be like Captain America
[108:04] Civil War but with Defenders?
[108:07] >> Interesting.
[108:08] >> Like like two different sides of
[108:09] Defenders. Like some of them side with
[108:11] >> Yeah. Or maybe just like, you know,
[108:13] various uh superheroes disagreeing about
[108:15] the right way to dispense vigilante
[108:18] justice. Uh
[108:19] >> I don't mind that.
[108:20] >> No, I don't mind that either. It feels,
[108:22] you know, Matt's always so so torn about
[108:25] what the right thing to do is. Um, I
[108:27] think a little bit of that is built into
[108:29] the character of Daredevil, but I I
[108:31] wouldn't hate seeing more of it.
[108:32] >> I want to go back to We'll keep
[108:34] refreshing as we might get some uh
[108:35] Resident Evil news here. Um, Omalore, I
[108:39] think I'm saying that right, sent into
[108:40] super chat a few minutes ago. Crazy
[108:43] theory number two. After Doomsday and
[108:44] Secret Wars make two billion each, we
[108:47] should be so lucky. Marvel buys out
[108:50] Spider-Man, then makes Deadpool 4:
[108:52] Deadpool kills the Sony verse.
[108:55] >> Sony verse killed itself, my man. Didn't
[108:57] need help from Deadpool.
[108:58] >> Well, that's true. Sony does will never
[109:01] get rid of Spider-Man. Again, that is
[109:03] their number one franchise. That is
[109:05] their top IP. They would be basically
[109:08] giving up on movies if they give up on
[109:10] Spider-Man. So, a I mean, there is a
[109:12] price for everything, but the price is
[109:13] probably too high. Also, deep down, I
[109:17] know people have gone back and forth on
[109:19] this. It benefits Marvel that there is
[109:21] another major studio making Marvel
[109:23] movies. Yeah, I think right like they
[109:26] can marshall their resources, especially
[109:27] with Spider-Man being the top priority
[109:30] for Sony. In theory, they are going to
[109:32] always try to make those movies as good
[109:34] as they can because so much is writing
[109:36] on that being a successful franchise.
[109:38] And and like even though Spider-Man's
[109:40] kind of arguably the most popular
[109:41] superhero ever, Marvel has so much else
[109:43] to think about, it kind of maybe helps
[109:45] them that they don't automatically have
[109:47] a Spider-Man tentpole every three years.
[109:49] >> Well, I think it's Marvel gets to have
[109:50] it both ways, right? Like if a if a Sony
[109:53] movie pops off, you know, like the
[109:54] Spider-Man movies do, Marvel gets to go
[109:56] like, "Hell yeah, that's a win for
[109:58] Marvel." if they don't like you know
[110:00] MorbiiUs and Madame Webb and you know uh
[110:03] Craraven don't Marvel can just wash
[110:05] their hands of it you know like so it's
[110:07] it's all upside for them. Speaking of
[110:09] MorbiiUs real quick on Friday, April
[110:11] 17th at 7:30 p.m. New Rockstars will be
[110:13] doing a live show at the Upright
[110:14] Citizens of Parade Theater in Los
[110:15] Angeles doing a staged reading of
[110:17] MorbiiUs. If you're in the LA area, uh
[110:19] there's a link in the description you
[110:21] can click to get tickets. If you're not
[110:22] in the LA area, you can still get
[110:24] tickets because we're going to be doing
[110:25] a live stream. Uh both the show and the
[110:28] live stream will happen this Friday at
[110:30] 7:30 p.m. If you're in LA, we'd love to
[110:32] see you there. If you're not in LA,
[110:34] please check out the live stream. We'll
[110:35] have a link for that uh uh down in the
[110:37] description.
[110:38] >> We've got an update uh on the Zack
[110:40] Creger Resident Evil tweet. Uh Zack Kger
[110:43] promises that in the new Resident Evil
[110:45] film, you'll be locked in with one
[110:47] protagonist from point A to point B.
[110:49] >> Heck yeah.
[110:50] >> Sneak peek footage description. A
[110:53] stranded driver, Austin Abrams, who
[110:55] played the drug addict and weapons.
[110:58] Yeah. Walks through snow up to a
[111:00] deserted farmhouse asking for help. The
[111:03] phone line is disconnected.
[111:05] We see the driver run out to the barn,
[111:08] loads a shotgun, goes down a tunnel, and
[111:11] sees an obese zombie. Other shots of
[111:13] limbs angling out of a doorway and
[111:15] zombie bodies raining from rooftops and
[111:19] smashing on snowy cars as Abrams runs
[111:22] through the chaos. Coming September
[111:24] 18th, 2026 again. It's been described as
[111:27] MadMax Fury Road meet zombies.
[111:29] >> And I'll tell you after after playing
[111:31] Resident Evil Reququum's motorcycle
[111:33] level, like that formula works. The the
[111:36] formula the the motorcycle level in
[111:37] Resident Evil Reququum is one of the
[111:39] best action set pieces in a video game.
[111:42] maybe since Uncharted 4, you know, like
[111:44] certainly there's stuff in Last of Us
[111:45] Part Two that's up there, but it's
[111:47] great. So, that's the vibe I'm on board.
[111:49] >> Yes. And this movie has an interesting
[111:52] I mean cast. The fact that the star of
[111:55] this movie is Austin Abrams, who um is
[111:59] an excellent actor uh and was great in
[112:02] Weapons, but is not typically hired to
[112:06] star a leading man at this point,
[112:09] >> major studio movies. Uh the other actors
[112:12] in it are uh Paul Walter Hower role as
[112:15] yet un um unannounced recently seen as
[112:19] Moleman in Fantastic 4 First Step.
[112:21] >> Also just on my drive here on a poster
[112:23] for a movie called Balls Up with Mark
[112:25] Wahberg that's coming out on Amazon.
[112:27] >> Um there's only there's only five total
[112:30] cast members listed on uh IMDb. Zach
[112:33] Cherry of Severance and Do a Flip uh
[112:36] great comedic actor. Callie Reese, I
[112:39] believe, is how you pronounce her name.
[112:41] She was the other cop opposite Jodie
[112:43] Foster in True Detective North Country.
[112:47] >> Oh, the
[112:48] >> the one set in Alaska.
[112:50] >> She is the kind of native I believe
[112:52] she's part part native, parties
[112:55] ask sounds fantastic.
[112:56] >> Yeah. And she's like a former MMA
[112:58] fighter, so she's a badass. Uh and then
[113:00] somebody named Jonno Wilson, who I am
[113:02] not familiar with, but those are the
[113:04] only five cast members. And there's a
[113:06] chance they're literally the only people
[113:07] who aren't zombies in this movie. I
[113:09] don't know. Um, but
[113:11] >> sounds great. Oh, this John O Wilson
[113:14] guy. He's been in Twisted Metal and uh
[113:16] he was in the series I love that for
[113:17] you. Another these are all again with
[113:20] the exception of Cali Ree. These are
[113:21] comedic actors mostly known as comedic.
[113:24] >> And I think also, you know, you pointed
[113:27] this out with Austin Abrams. I think
[113:28] it's true of the rest of the cast. like,
[113:29] you know, they're not they're not people
[113:31] whose name you see on a on a marquee and
[113:34] immediately go like, "Oh, that's an
[113:35] Austin Abrams movie." It is going to be
[113:37] a Zack Creger movie. You know, and I I
[113:39] think even more so than Resident Evil,
[113:41] that's what's selling it is his vision
[113:43] for what
[113:44] >> the two things that get you in the
[113:45] theater are from the maker of Weapons
[113:47] and Barbarian and Resident Evil. And
[113:48] maybe you only need one of those to get
[113:50] you in a theater.
[113:51] >> Yeah. Yeah. I think people who don't
[113:52] know what Resident Evil is or like maybe
[113:54] only know the Oua Bowl movies like you
[113:56] know
[113:57] >> and I saw the first Mia Jehovich one and
[113:59] and then I was pretty good on the rest
[114:01] of the franchise. I'm good. I've never
[114:02] played any of the games. Uh but I'm this
[114:05] again I'm seated. September 18th also a
[114:09] lot of people complained last year there
[114:10] weren't enough scary movies released
[114:12] around Halloween. September 18th you're
[114:15] still over a month out from Halloween
[114:17] but like thank you. Put out scary movies
[114:19] in the fall, you know? Yeah.
[114:22] >> Um, okay, great. Uh, let's see. We have
[114:25] a super chat here from Jason Todd X1H
[114:29] $4.99 donation. Thank you. Uh, which
[114:32] movie do you think will make fans cry
[114:35] the most?
[114:37] I think I think there's a chance that
[114:40] Brand New Day has like a major death in
[114:42] it.
[114:42] >> You think? I mean, they they got us with
[114:44] the You think they're bringing back
[114:45] Marissa Tommy to kill her again, but
[114:47] sad?
[114:48] >> Saturday this time. It's a It's a
[114:49] Resident Evil crossover. She comes back
[114:51] as an obese zombie. Umbrella Corp has
[114:53] some weird worm jutting out of her head.
[114:55] She's Lady Deitrescu.
[114:56] >> I mean, I think Doomsday, especially if
[114:59] you're a viewer of a certain age, will
[115:01] be biologically designed to tug the
[115:05] heartstrings.
[115:06] >> Yeah. If I have to watch Sir Patrick
[115:08] Stewart die on screen one more time
[115:11] >> along with Ian Mckllen and you know like
[115:13] they're gonna be
[115:14] >> two gentlemen who knock on wood are
[115:17] going to live healthy hearty lives for
[115:18] many more years but like right there
[115:21] just the the the three seconds from the
[115:23] trailer made me sad.
[115:24] >> Now I don't think most people care about
[115:25] this. Sony unveils the trailer for Tao
[115:27] YT's film adaptation of Claraara and the
[115:29] Sun starring Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams.
[115:33] Claraara and the Sun is a book by Kazuo
[115:35] uh Ishigoro who wrote Never Let Me Go,
[115:38] Remains of the Day, uh The Buried Giant.
[115:41] It's a very literary sci-fi. It's
[115:44] Taikoiti is an interesting choice for
[115:47] this.
[115:48] >> The the one-s sentence description of
[115:49] this movie's plot is a robot girl
[115:51] designed to prevent loneliness tries to
[115:54] save a heartbroken family of humans.
[115:56] >> It's so much darker than that. The the
[115:58] the book is worth reading. I recommend
[116:00] the book. It's not my favorite of his,
[116:02] but it's good. Uh, but it's not given
[116:06] Taikoiti's URA, it's not something that
[116:09] I think lends itself to his particular
[116:10] kind of whimsy.
[116:11] >> He'll do a Jojo Rabbit with some like uh
[116:14] more or even the boy. I think
[116:16] >> Wilder People for the Wilder People
[116:18] still have silly elements, but also some
[116:20] real grounded emotional elements. Uh,
[116:22] the rest of that, yeah, Amy Adams,
[116:23] Natasha Leon, Jenn Ortega, Steve Bushi
[116:26] in that cast, and Simon Baker. Um, very
[116:30] interesting. Haven't heard a lot about
[116:31] this movie.
[116:32] >> That's a That's a weird That's
[116:34] interesting. I mean, I I really like the
[116:36] the book. Uh, Ta White Titi is an
[116:38] interesting choice. Uh, Amy Adams, in my
[116:41] opinion, can do no sci-fi wrong after
[116:43] Arrival. Um, her inclusion in this, I
[116:45] think, is a a hugely positive sign. I
[116:47] imagine she has to be playing the
[116:48] mother, uh, Jenna Ortega as the
[116:50] daughter, and probably also the robot.
[116:53] Um, but, uh, yeah, that's that's
[116:56] interesting.
[116:56] >> How do you pronounce his name? Kazuo
[116:58] Ishiguro.
[116:59] >> I think Kazu Ishiguro
[117:00] >> is also listed as one of the writers of
[117:01] the movie. Now that could be just, you
[117:03] know, based on a work by but like
[117:05] interesting. Never Let Me Go.
[117:07] >> Now, I've never seen the movie, but the
[117:09] book is incredible.
[117:10] >> The the movie I I haven't read the book
[117:11] cuz I can't read, but the movie was I
[117:14] really enjoyed that. That's what I've
[117:16] heard. That's that's early a young
[117:18] Andrew Garfield, a young Carrie
[117:19] Mulligan, a young Kira Knly, I think,
[117:22] was the cast back then. Oo, talk about a
[117:24] tearjerker.
[117:25] >> Yeah. I mean, the book is devastating
[117:27] and and Clara and the Sun is very much
[117:29] in that same mold of very literary, very
[117:33] uh it's not high sci-fi. It feels almost
[117:35] more like a Ted Chang story.
[117:37] >> Yeah. It's like a a less gimmicky Black
[117:40] Mirror episode, but like if if Black
[117:43] Mirror was just designed to make you
[117:45] cry.
[117:45] >> Yeah. If Black Mirror was like if the
[117:47] goal of the Black Mirror episode was for
[117:49] you to pick up the phone and call your
[117:50] parents and be like, "I don't say this
[117:52] enough, but thank you." You know, like
[117:54] that's that's kind of the vibe of of
[117:56] Clara on the Sun.
[117:57] >> Yeah.
[117:58] >> Um that's really interesting. I'm so
[118:00] curious. I'm so curious what that movie
[118:02] is going to be.
[118:03] >> We got we got a super chat here. Oh, do
[118:05] we have news? No.
[118:06] >> Oh, no. I was going to say super chat.
[118:07] >> Yes. From Chase Quinland 5010. Um theory
[118:12] overunder uh on Miles Warren. That's
[118:15] Keith David. Jackal villain using green
[118:19] jackal brewing to spread his spider
[118:22] island carrying mind control virus
[118:26] under um yet to be confirmed that uh
[118:31] Keith David is playing the jackal
[118:34] calling having a green jackal beer could
[118:36] be a reference to the Spider-Man villain
[118:39] the jackal or it could just be
[118:40] >> could just be a fun Easter egg
[118:42] >> maybe maybe a combination of green apple
[118:44] cigarettes
[118:44] >> we're getting a couple things happening
[118:45] at once The chat is saying we're getting
[118:47] some Zelda being shown. Uh Eric's
[118:49] Twitter is saying uh or New Rock Twitter
[118:52] saying Sony shows an early look for
[118:53] Godzilla minus one director uh Tekashi
[118:56] Yamazaki's Grand Gear produced by JJ
[118:59] Abrams. I got really excited because I
[119:00] saw Godzilla and I thought it was going
[119:02] to be uh the trailer for New Godzilla.
[119:04] But
[119:05] >> this is not something else.
[119:06] >> February of 2028. So multiple Cicons
[119:09] before this movie comes out. Uh and then
[119:11] Sony announced at Cineacon that they've
[119:13] wrapped production on The Legend of
[119:14] Zelda. They've wrapped uh it's coming
[119:17] not till May of 27 o or a little over a
[119:20] year from now. Uh no footage shown yet,
[119:23] but I guess they got it in the can.
[119:25] >> Yeah. Uh yeah, it's I'm very curious to
[119:28] see. There's so many One of the things
[119:30] Nintendo does with Zelda that's
[119:32] fascinating is they are utterly
[119:34] unconcerned with continuity between any
[119:36] of the games save for. Uh sometimes
[119:40] they'll do like kind of a sequelish game
[119:42] like Majora's Mask and um Ocarina of
[119:45] Time have a lot of connective tissue
[119:48] obviously uh uh Tears of the Kingdom and
[119:50] Breath of the Wild have a ton of
[119:52] connective tissue very direct sequel
[119:54] there. Um, but because of that, because
[119:57] there hasn't really been, in the way
[119:58] there is with like the Resident Evil
[120:00] games, this kind of interesting through
[120:02] line, it's very possible that this movie
[120:04] is something that's in dialogue with
[120:06] multiple different games from multiple
[120:08] different parts of Nintendo's life
[120:09] cycle. I'm really curious to see. Um,
[120:13] Sony announces they're making a
[120:14] Bloodborne movie, rated R. Oh, gamers,
[120:18] get up. We're eating good. We got Elden
[120:19] Ring from Alex Garland, and now we're
[120:21] getting Bloodborne. Hell yeah. Um, this
[120:24] is gonna be
[120:25] >> Tell me a little bit about Bloodborne.
[120:27] >> So, Bloodborne is like one of these
[120:29] Soulslike games that's just grim and
[120:31] half the fun of the game is you're just
[120:34] you you die so much that your successes
[120:38] are so meaningful. Like this is and chat
[120:42] correct me if I'm wrong but like it if
[120:45] you beat a boss in a Soulslike game, it
[120:48] is frequently the result of like three
[120:51] hours straight of just the most white
[120:53] knuckled, sweaty controller gripping
[120:55] you've ever done. Finally getting your
[120:57] timing down so you don't miss a single
[120:59] parry or dodge or whatever.
[121:00] >> Sounds like you're excited about that.
[121:02] How do you feel? They're also producing
[121:03] a Hell Divers film directed by Justin
[121:06] Lynn. This I already knew about, but I
[121:07] would argue the best Hell Divers
[121:09] adaptation is Starship Troopers. Okay.
[121:11] >> And it's going to be and like I'm
[121:13] excited to see a Hell Divers film. I've
[121:15] been playing um my character sucks. I
[121:18] die all the time. But uh I think Justin
[121:20] Lynn's a great pick for it. Uh I think
[121:23] that but Hell Divers is basically
[121:26] Starship Troopers the game. So to then
[121:28] go from uh it's gonna be difficult to
[121:30] compare a hell di not to compare a hell
[121:32] divers film adaptation to uh starship
[121:35] troopers by Paul Verhovven which is a
[121:38] great piece of military industrial
[121:40] complex
[121:41] >> or yes and I guess even stylistically
[121:44] the Tom Cruz uh Live Die Repeat. Yes.
[121:47] >> What was the other title of that movie?
[121:49] >> It was uh uh Oh, all you need is Kill.
[121:52] No, All You Need Is Kill was the book.
[121:54] >> Yes.
[121:54] >> It wasn't Tomorrow Never Dies. That's a
[121:56] James Bond movie. Live, die, repeat was
[121:58] the tagline.
[122:00] >> Uh,
[122:02] uh, Edge of Tomorrow was the more
[122:04] popular name there. Yeah. Which was kind
[122:06] of had a similar kind of, uh, futuristic
[122:09] soldier fight alien kind of vibe. Um,
[122:12] couple more super chats here. Boy, as
[122:14] this news, it sounds like they're
[122:15] spending less time on each of these
[122:16] projects.
[122:19] >> Um, but we got some super chats to get
[122:22] into while we refresh here. Um, Sad
[122:24] Ace21. Hoping someday we get a Diablo
[122:27] movie.
[122:28] >> The only The only good way to do a
[122:29] Diablo movie, I'm telling you this now,
[122:31] is John Wick but with swords and demons
[122:33] instead of guns and Russians. Like
[122:35] that's what it would have to be. Yeah.
[122:36] >> It's got to be It's got to be Diablo I.
[122:38] You start off in Tristam. You fight your
[122:40] way down. Maybe there's some Nephilim
[122:42] who show up at some point. You get
[122:43] Decarded Kane going stay a while and
[122:45] listen. You know, like that's got to be
[122:47] what it is.
[122:48] >> E Farm Judah. Uh, I think I'm
[122:51] pronouncing that correctly. Yeah,
[122:53] Deadpool 4 should be all crazy cameos
[122:55] that don't make Secret Wars. Dolph
[122:57] Lungren's Punisher, David Hasselhuff's
[122:59] Nick Fury, Shinji Toto's Spider-Man.
[123:02] >> Boy, the the the blank stairs in the
[123:05] theater when some of those folks show up
[123:07] in costume. Um though, I do like the
[123:10] idea of like it's the leftovers.
[123:13] >> I like that a lot.
[123:14] >> Um and then we also missed Weo 90 YT
[123:18] saying Spidey drinks beer after seeing
[123:20] MJ and mutates. You know what? What a
[123:23] what an apt metaphor that it's the beer
[123:25] that makes him become a monster. Yes.
[123:27] You know,
[123:27] >> absolutely something there.
[123:29] >> Why is that the legal drug?
[123:30] >> Tom Holland is famously Soberman has an
[123:34] and a alcohol brand or an alcoholic
[123:37] brand. So, I mean, he could get on board
[123:39] with that.
[123:40] >> We got Jason Mimoa is going to be in
[123:41] this Hell Divers film. I think that's
[123:43] the right energy based on based on his
[123:45] performances as Lobo and I can't
[123:47] remember his character's name for the
[123:48] most recent Fast and Furious movie. Um,
[123:51] but I think that'll be a good a good for
[123:53] Hell Divers. I mean, it's just going to
[123:55] be Hell Diver after Hell Diver just
[123:58] getting blown up in ridiculous ways, you
[124:00] know? Uh, killed by robots, killed by
[124:03] bugs, killed by the weird zombie, the
[124:05] illuminate or whatever they are, the
[124:06] voteless. Um,
[124:08] >> uh, speaking of, uh, so our our editor
[124:11] Joshua just threw in the chat, um, what
[124:14] does anybody want an overunder 20%
[124:17] t-shirt from our friends at Nerd
[124:19] Riot.shop? uh who also make uh products
[124:22] like this nerd ride.shop. We've got this
[124:25] shirt I'm wearing is not available for
[124:27] sale yet. It will be dropped any day
[124:28] now,
[124:29] >> very soon.
[124:29] >> But uh you can't get it yet, but you
[124:32] will be able to. You can get this this
[124:34] guy. Speaking of Sony, speaking of uh
[124:36] Spider-Man brand new day, looks better
[124:38] when it's on your body than when I just
[124:39] hold it up.
[124:40] >> Yeah, go to nerd.shop to check that out.
[124:42] Uh we got some more news. Sony
[124:43] introduces The Social Reckoning sequel
[124:46] to The Social Network.
[124:47] >> Sorcin is back. We got Jeremy Strong as
[124:50] Mark Zuckerberg, Mikey Madison as a fa
[124:52] Facebook whistleblower, excuse me, um,
[124:54] in the more recent years of the social
[124:55] media company.
[124:56] >> So, this a lot of people are excited for
[124:58] this movie. I could not be less excited
[124:59] for this movie. I liked the social
[125:01] network, but I firmly believe Aaron
[125:04] Sorcin has lost the sauce. Uh, Trial of
[125:07] the Chicago 7 was awful. Being the
[125:10] Ricardos, terrible. I think when he
[125:13] directs his own scripts, poo poo. I I'
[125:17] I've never my uh this phrase is not fit
[125:22] for children. I've never been porking
[125:24] for sorcery.
[125:26] >> I've never I've never been fit for
[125:28] adults.
[125:29] >> I don't I didn't like I didn't like West
[125:31] Wing. I didn't like Sports Night.
[125:32] >> Yeah, I was never in on those either.
[125:34] >> A few good men is great.
[125:35] >> Yes, A Few Good Men. I attribute that to
[125:37] R in the Social Network and even like a
[125:40] Charlie Wilson's war or something like
[125:41] that. He could do really good work, but
[125:43] he needs a director that also has some
[125:45] sway to push back on him. He's also not
[125:47] like a good visual director or anything
[125:49] like that. Lost the sauce. Eric Vos is
[125:52] all in on this. Yeah,
[125:53] >> he loves Sorcin. He's very excited. And
[125:55] this is a great castin. This will be an
[125:57] interesting uh topic to go into. I'm
[125:59] also I don't know how I feel about
[126:01] recent history. Like there's this movie
[126:04] uh there's another movie being made
[126:06] about like Sam Alman and the AI
[126:08] companies right now. I think we're just
[126:10] not far enough away to have any
[126:12] perspective that's valid or or at least
[126:14] maybe a perspective that's valid, but
[126:16] not one that's interesting. Like I don't
[126:18] think we're going to get an interesting
[126:19] dramatic angle.
[126:19] >> There's been a lot of talk because I
[126:20] think this is the 50th anniversary of
[126:22] All the President's Men, which is the
[126:23] movie uh Rest in Peace, Robert Redford,
[126:26] but and and Dustin Hoffman, they made
[126:28] about the Watergate saga like concurrent
[126:30] with the Watergate saga. It like came
[126:32] out like just a few years after that.
[126:34] So, it's like there is a you can make a
[126:36] good movie about recent events, but I
[126:38] maybe I just don't want to see these
[126:40] particular movies.
[126:40] >> We missed a super chat from New Vante.
[126:43] Uh 499, sorry about that. Uh what does
[126:46] it mean for the other Peter Parker's MJ
[126:49] and Ned that they met? Will they
[126:51] remember them? Does this matter at all?
[126:53] Um,
[126:55] so you know, I think for uh for the
[126:59] other Peter Parkers that MJ and Ned met
[127:03] and
[127:03] >> so like Toby Magcguire and Andrew
[127:05] Garfield.
[127:06] >> Yes, I think so. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[127:07] >> Yeah. Have they just been I mean, but
[127:09] those are still a Peter Parker and the
[127:12] spell was you will not remember that
[127:14] Peter Parker is Spider-Man. Yeah. Right.
[127:16] >> Right.
[127:17] >> So that could easily be made plural. You
[127:19] will not remember that Peter Parker's
[127:20] are Spider-Man's.
[127:21] >> Right. Like, is it the case that you'll
[127:23] remember meeting a Peter Parker who was
[127:25] Spider-Man and then meet this other guy
[127:27] who's Peter Parker and be like, "But
[127:28] this other Peter Parker was a
[127:30] Spider-Man."
[127:30] >> Are they going to remember Spider-Man
[127:32] coming through portals but not remember
[127:34] the parts where they were unmasked?
[127:35] >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[127:36] >> I don't know.
[127:37] >> It gets real like Men in Black little
[127:40] the spell, man. They're just going to
[127:42] yada yada all of that [ __ ] I
[127:43] >> uh over under 20%. Zack Cranberry 1693.
[127:46] Will we see Spider-Man in Brand New Day?
[127:48] No, that's man spider.
[127:50] >> Oh, man spider. Oh my god, I flipped it
[127:52] on my own.
[127:52] >> And you're over 20%.
[127:54] >> Yeah, I think I get
[127:56] >> They may not use that term man spider.
[127:58] He may never get called that, but there
[127:59] will be some gross.
[128:01] >> We We get some Croninberg like
[128:02] nightmare. Even if it's just a dream
[128:04] sequence.
[128:05] >> Yes. You know,
[128:06] >> I mean, we know for a fact we're getting
[128:07] organic web Yeah. shooters, right? And
[128:10] that alone there'll be he's in a weird
[128:13] self-made cocoon. There's going to be
[128:15] some good man spider mishagas going on.
[128:17] Yeah.
[128:18] >> Um, okay.
[128:23] >> Uh, New Vante also saying, "Hey, I saw
[128:25] my super chat pop up on the screen, but
[128:27] it wasn't red." Oh, okay. That's the one
[128:28] we just read. Yes. Okay. Well, thank
[128:30] you, Nvante, for bringing that to our
[128:31] attention. And thank you. We We got you.
[128:34] We made you send us another super chat
[128:36] to read your original super chat. No, we
[128:38] don't. We didn't intend to do that.
[128:39] We're trying to get to everybody. Sorry
[128:40] about that.
[128:41] >> Yeah. Iraq 11 saying, "Jack Septic Eye
[128:43] is developing the Bloodborne movie." I
[128:45] don't know if that's a bit or not, but
[128:46] man, that dude's Elden Ring streams
[128:49] helped me so much when I started playing
[128:51] Elden Ring. It gave me confidence. It
[128:54] gave me information. I didn't use
[128:56] anything even remotely like his build. I
[128:58] always go for a tank wizard. I'm fat
[129:00] rolling the whole game. I got that
[129:02] little pot belly armor and the shield.
[129:04] That's the flaming face thing. And you
[129:07] know what? It works for me. Uh but um
[129:11] yeah. Uh, okay. We've got uh Sarah
[129:14] Hatchidorian saying, uh, first teaser
[129:16] from Social Reckoning showing Jeremy
[129:18] Strong as Mark Zuckerberg practicing his
[129:20] congressional hearing. Um, uh, I'm not
[129:24] two years out of a dorm room anymore.
[129:27] Baby, uh, look, I think none of us want
[129:30] the Zuck to be the hero, right? Like
[129:32] that.
[129:32] >> He will. I guarantee he will not be in
[129:34] this movie.
[129:34] >> There's no way.
[129:35] >> Also, Jeremy Strong, very talented
[129:38] actor, incredible actor.
[129:40] >> Yes.
[129:41] Isn't he I don't know that he's right
[129:43] for Zuckerberg.
[129:44] >> I don't know that he's wrong for it.
[129:46] >> Maybe I I haven't seen the image. Maybe
[129:47] maybe you get a little prosthetic on
[129:48] him. You age him up, you age him down,
[129:50] whatever. Um
[129:51] >> all you got to do is like put some
[129:53] powder on his skin so he's you know like
[129:56] as white as the surface of the sun.
[129:57] >> Yeah. Some kind of weird contact that
[129:59] gives him dead eyes.
[130:00] >> Yeah. Get rid of his eyebrows. Give him
[130:02] those like West Borland limp biscuit,
[130:04] you know, like kind of big contact
[130:06] lenses. Um
[130:07] >> No. Yeah. discussing film reporting that
[130:08] Jack Septic Eye is developing the
[130:10] Bloodborne movie.
[130:11] >> Honestly, like what a great what what a
[130:14] great call by the studio to get like a
[130:16] died in the wool gamer in there to be
[130:18] like, "No, no, here's what's good about
[130:19] it."
[130:20] >> They're seeing like, "Hey, Markiplier
[130:21] can get people in stu in the in the
[130:23] movie theater."
[130:23] >> We got Sony Animation on. So, okay, if
[130:27] if we're going to get uh Beyond the
[130:29] Spider-Verse news, this is going to be
[130:31] where we get it. Um
[130:35] now, let's see where addition to again
[130:38] we might get some anime news here other
[130:39] animated projects they they send a lot
[130:42] of their animation to Netflix they will
[130:43] not be talking about those projects
[130:45] because they're not going to theaters
[130:47] >> but uh we might get some some other
[130:50] animated stuff here also I think Sony
[130:52] released Cloudy with a Chance of
[130:54] Meatballs back in the day they've al
[130:56] yeah so they
[130:57] >> their first Lord Miller adventure I
[130:59] believe that was
[131:00] >> I think so yeah
[131:03] >> we're at the point in the stream where
[131:04] the Coke Zeros are out
[131:06] Yeah, I've almost drained my water
[131:08] bottle.
[131:08] >> Drink them if you got them. I know. I I
[131:10] emptied mine. That's why I had to move
[131:11] on to something else.
[131:12] >> I did a bad job gaming this out. I was
[131:14] chugging water today cuz I was working
[131:16] out and uh and now I'm just sitting here
[131:18] going like, I'm going to miss some big
[131:19] news if I leave.
[131:20] >> You go you go pee whenever you need to.
[131:21] >> Show or I I empower you to pull a Dwayne
[131:25] Johnson and fill that water bottle right
[131:27] up. Okay.
[131:27] >> All right. We got uh Phil Lord, Chris
[131:29] Miller, Bob Persietti, and Justin J.
[131:32] Thompson take the stage.
[131:33] >> Spider-verse, baby. Spiderverse.
[131:35] >> Yes. They're promising the most
[131:36] emotional Everyone's promising emotional
[131:39] movies right now, which that's great. I
[131:41] don't know if I need that from every
[131:42] movie, but they're promising the most
[131:43] emotional Spider-Verse movie ever made.
[131:45] >> It just to be two other movies. Uh, but
[131:47] I will say, especially that second one
[131:49] was a very emotional movie.
[131:51] >> Yes, those movies are fantastic. I mean,
[131:54] I remember seeing the first one with my
[131:55] daughter in a theater and her getting up
[131:57] to the Kendrick song and dancing in the
[131:59] aisle afterwards. Like,
[132:00] >> uh, we should say, I don't know, did you
[132:01] read the second part? There was a a
[132:03] follow-up to the Social Reckoning tweet.
[132:05] Social Reckoning trailer got shown at
[132:07] Cineacon Con, so that might be released
[132:08] sometime soon. That'll pop up.
[132:09] >> Footage shows a tense thriller that
[132:11] lives in a modern media political
[132:13] landscape than the college deposition
[132:16] settings of the 2020 the 2010 film. Uh
[132:19] Jeremy Strong is incredible as
[132:21] Zuckerberg. tightly wound,
[132:22] idiosyncratic, carefully manicured, and
[132:25] suddenly angry kind of deaths slamming
[132:27] rage that Andrew Garfield's Eduardo
[132:29] Severe showed in the iconic flincher
[132:32] shot. I don't see any January 6 footage,
[132:34] but this is the kind of movie where it
[132:36] could come up. Expect some succession
[132:38] election night episode vibes right there
[132:42] from Eric Vos, who's in the room uh in
[132:44] Las Vegas um typing these tweets himself
[132:49] with his uh fiery fingers.
[132:52] Okay, so we're we're we're waiting with
[132:54] baited breath for what Sony will present
[132:57] us about Beyond the Spider-Verse. Hannah
[133:00] Basso 1398 saying it is really
[133:03] happening. All caps. Uh Hannah, I
[133:06] believe you. Um
[133:08] >> I discussing film reporting that
[133:09] Spiderverse uh being made in a
[133:13] 143 to one format. I don't know enough
[133:16] about aspect ratios to know if that's
[133:19] special or normal or what, but
[133:22] interesting thing to report.
[133:24] >> I studied psychology in college and I've
[133:26] used it zero since then. So, uh I I
[133:30] cannot say.
[133:33] Um okay, we're hearing we Oh, someone's
[133:35] saying okay 6109 saying that means IMAX.
[133:39] >> Okay,
[133:40] >> full IMAX.
[133:40] >> Makes sense. Uh,
[133:43] look, seems like we're getting some
[133:45] stills.
[133:47] Rexton saying they're showing the
[133:49] opening.
[133:52] >> Um, okay. So, an opening scene. That's
[133:54] very good.
[133:55] >> Again, uh, Beyond the Spider-Verse
[133:57] expected to be released June 27. So, uh,
[134:01] a year and change away.
[134:05] But it kind of makes sense that they
[134:06] would talk about that now because like
[134:08] it will be a pretty short gap in between
[134:09] next year's Cineacon and Spiderverse.
[134:11] They want to build that hype.
[134:12] >> Yeah. Well, I mean it'll be like this
[134:13] year's uh brand new day, right? Like
[134:15] they'll have trailers coming out before
[134:17] Cineacon. Um
[134:20] >> but uh Okay,
[134:23] we are we are waiting. We'll see if
[134:25] maybe uh discussing film or somebody has
[134:27] these stills right away.
[134:29] >> Shout out as we wait to uh folks in the
[134:31] chat. Want to shout out a couple people
[134:33] that are YouTube members of New
[134:35] Rockstars. Meg, Maddie 510. We already
[134:38] talked about Hannah Basso, Sarah Hutch,
[134:40] Dorian, uh Rex Tin,
[134:44] um Zack Canet, we got Prowler.
[134:46] >> Oh, here we go.
[134:47] >> So, look at this.
[134:49] >> Looks good. Looks real good. Uh I love
[134:52] kind of the scratchy like chalk. God,
[134:55] this mo these movies look so good. So
[134:59] good. My god, this is great. Everything
[135:02] looks just a little bit trippy. Not so
[135:05] much that it's distracting, but enough
[135:06] that your eyes can't really decide where
[135:08] to focus.
[135:10] >> Um,
[135:12] >> yeah. Oh, that's Yeah, that's like I
[135:15] mean that that could be just a still
[135:17] from the movie. That could also be like
[135:19] >> promotional still
[135:20] >> poster. That could be
[135:22] >> anything. Um,
[135:24] >> I see these are the stills from last
[135:25] year. They still look good.
[135:27] >> Oh, this is the same stuff.
[135:28] >> Chris is gone. I have been bamboozled.
[135:30] You have any idea how many Spider-Man
[135:31] photos I look at in a given year? More
[135:34] than the average Spider-Man.
[135:36] >> Yeah.
[135:37] >> Yeah. Yeah. We're like Jes.
[135:41] >> Okay. Well, maybe we'll get some new
[135:44] stills soon.
[135:49] All right. We'll continue shouting out.
[135:51] Here we go. What do we got? We got a
[135:52] refresh coming.
[135:55] >> No new news yet. Henry Cavill is
[135:58] trending.
[136:00] >> Oh, I'm sure for only good reasons. Um,
[136:03] >> yeah.
[136:04] >> Uh, we should, you know, you mentioned
[136:07] earlier, but it's been a couple hours
[136:08] now. We have a live event this Friday
[136:12] night. If you're in the Los Angeles
[136:13] area, you can come in person. If you're
[136:15] not in the Los Angeles area or you don't
[136:16] want to leave your house, you can get a
[136:18] remote ticket and watch it live. You can
[136:21] stream this show. We're going to be at
[136:23] the UCB Theater uh in the Franklin
[136:26] Village area of Hollywood in Los
[136:27] Angeles, California this Friday night,
[136:30] 7:00 p.m. We also have
[136:32] >> 7:30. 7:30.
[136:32] >> 7:30. The that thing says 7:00. You're
[136:34] right. But we're at 7. Show up at 7
[136:36] though. Get get an ice cream down down
[136:39] the block. Get some sushi. Whatever. Uh,
[136:41] but we can also announce one of the
[136:44] special guests that's going to be
[136:45] joining us is comedian Carl Tart, which
[136:49] if uh you're a fan of comedy, you
[136:51] probably recognize that name from maybe
[136:52] Comedy Bang Bang. He's a writer
[136:54] currently on Saturday Night Live. He
[136:57] also is in the MCU because he appeared
[137:00] in an episode of Wonderman. He is the uh
[137:03] in the Derek the Doorman episode. He is
[137:06] the talk show hosts that that that makes
[137:10] uh Doorman um say his catchphrase. That
[137:13] was Carl Tart. He's going to be joining
[137:15] us on stage at the New Rockstars live
[137:18] show. Uh we will make him like read Matt
[137:20] Smith's part or something. Adri Jonah's
[137:22] part. I don't know.
[137:23] >> If you've never seen Carl uh live, he's
[137:26] a goddamn delight. Just a just an utter
[137:29] treat. Real mess.
[137:29] >> Super funny comedian. Yes.
[137:32] >> Um okay, great. Uh, we got a $5 super
[137:36] chat from Lost Chief. Who's excited for
[137:38] Wrestlemania?
[137:40] >> I got to say, I haven't been keeping up
[137:41] with the product. Uh, Lost Chief, but
[137:45] I'll get excited. Uh, I will. I' I've
[137:47] followed some of the storylines. I know
[137:49] it's like Cody versus Roman ride. And I
[137:52] I I know some of the I'm always here for
[137:54] a Gunther Seth Rollins. That sounds like
[137:56] a really fun match. You know, the hype
[137:59] will build. The hype will build for me.
[138:00] I I'll get there. I'll get there.
[138:03] Um, okay. Uh, Brian, can we refresh the
[138:06] discussing film uh page or maybe uh
[138:08] we'll have it up momentarily.
[138:10] >> Maybe maybe bring up um disgusting film,
[138:13] too.
[138:13] >> Disgusting film. Uh, yeah. Uh, we're
[138:15] hearing that they might have a detailed
[138:17] description of Oh, here we go. Okay.
[138:20] From Okay. Spider-Man: Beyond the
[138:21] Spider-Verse footage was shown
[138:23] exclusively to Cineacon attendees. The
[138:26] scene picks up right where the second
[138:27] film left off with Miles stranded in
[138:29] Earth 42. The scene is in 43. Earth 42
[138:33] Prowler Morales locks 1610 Morales for
[138:35] not saying Morales with a proper accent,
[138:37] which I'm positive I'm not doing now.
[138:39] Miles tries to explain to Prowler Miles
[138:41] and Earth 42 Aaron what cannon events
[138:44] are and how his dad in the other
[138:45] dimension might die. Since Prowler Miles
[138:47] had accidentally electrified Miles,
[138:49] Miles says, "Don't watch the mouth,
[138:51] watch the hands," and uses the charge to
[138:53] release his chains. We also see his
[138:55] skeleton ignite in the zap, followed by
[138:58] an intense montage that showed all the
[138:59] returning characters from across the
[139:00] Spider-Verse and an epic battle against
[139:03] the spot in Miguel O'Hara. Kingpin also
[139:05] made an appearance in this montage eyes
[139:08] emoji coming June 18th, 2027.
[139:12] >> Hell yeah.
[139:14] >> Amazing.
[139:14] >> I think I wonder um this unfortunately
[139:18] might be footage we do not see. The
[139:21] general public does not see quite a
[139:23] while. Yeah,
[139:23] >> they're not going to release this 16
[139:25] months ahead of the film release,
[139:27] unfortunately. Now, we might see this
[139:29] exact footage in 7 months from now. We
[139:31] might see this in November or something
[139:32] like that.
[139:33] >> But this isn't like a trailer that
[139:34] they'll want to put up as a promotional
[139:36] thing. This is
[139:36] >> No, it's also weird to you don't want to
[139:38] promote a movie this far out, right? Um,
[139:41] but that sounds cool.
[139:44] >> Very cool.
[139:45] >> Very excited for that. I'm glad they're
[139:47] already hyping that. I'm glad it it
[139:49] sounds good. Uh, C Mareno 891 saying,
[139:52] "Thanks for the Cineacon updates. Been
[139:54] on the road for a few hours and you guys
[139:56] have been keeping me company. Hopefully
[139:58] you're keeping your eyes on the road and
[140:00] not typing this super chat.
[140:01] >> They have this up on your Tesla."
[140:03] >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But, um, maybe you're
[140:04] in the back of a Whimo just just living
[140:07] your best life. See, Marina, thank you
[140:09] for the super chat and thank you for
[140:10] being a YouTube member.
[140:12] >> Um, okay. Wow. It's coming fast and
[140:15] furious. Now, we still do not do you
[140:18] think um the cleanup batter here is
[140:21] Jumanji.
[140:21] >> That's what that's the rumor we're
[140:23] getting in the chat
[140:24] >> cuz they got the cast there. Jack Black,
[140:26] The Rock coming out, Kevin Hart. Maybe
[140:29] they knew that that movie was going to
[140:31] have the most onstage star power. So,
[140:34] we're going to end with that. Maybe
[140:36] >> that makes sense. I mean, also I think
[140:38] there's a world in which, you know, they
[140:41] kind of go like, well, if we don't get
[140:43] Spider-Man out of the way before
[140:45] Jumanji, no one's going to be Jamanji.
[140:48] Yeah. Um,
[140:49] >> good point.
[140:51] >> Okay, let's see if we got any new uh
[140:53] photos or anything here. Discussing
[140:54] film,
[140:56] >> new images from Spider-Verse.
[140:58] Okay, great. Yeah, this is amazing. Uh,
[141:02] okay, awesome. Love this. God, this
[141:06] movie just looks so good.
[141:09] >> Um, now again, that could be a scene
[141:11] from either of the previous, some of
[141:12] these could be from any of the previous
[141:15] movies, but I'm just glad to see Yes,
[141:17] there
[141:17] >> overjoyed spider punk is back. Um, man,
[141:22] really great. Really, really great.
[141:25] Um, okay, cool. Yeah, we're stoked. We
[141:28] are so stoked.
[141:29] >> Kingpin, Spiderham, and Spider-Man Noir
[141:32] return in Spider-Man: Beyond the
[141:33] Spider-Verse. Well, it's going to be a
[141:36] big 18 months for Spider Noir.
[141:38] >> Big 18 months for I mean because we're
[141:40] got Spider Noir comes what in like a
[141:42] month. When is that? May.
[141:43] >> Yes, it is being binged dropped on May
[141:46] 27th.
[141:47] >> So, we're going to get Spider Noir in
[141:48] May. Then we're going to get Brand New
[141:50] Day in July. Uh then
[141:54] >> Spiderverse the following June. That's a
[141:56] nice That's a nice little run for
[141:57] Spider.
[141:58] >> It's going to be your friendly
[141:58] neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 at some
[142:00] point.
[142:00] >> At some point. We don't have a date
[142:02] there. were suspecting maybe the back
[142:03] half of this year or something like
[142:04] that,
[142:04] >> you know. So, it's going to be
[142:05] Spider-Man Spider-Man Spider-Man
[142:07] Spider-Man.
[142:08] >> Get me pictures of Spider-Man.
[142:10] >> Uh, I love Godzilla.mpp3.
[142:12] Uh, $5 super chat saying, "Loving the
[142:14] coverage tonight, and I'm looking
[142:15] forward to the rest of the week's
[142:16] reveals, anything you guys are excited
[142:19] for."
[142:20] >> Um, Brian, can we pull up that graphic
[142:21] of of everything we're covering this
[142:23] week?
[142:23] >> Yeah, the the week the week the look
[142:26] ahead for the week.
[142:26] >> There it is. We're going to be back
[142:28] tomorrow. And when I say we, I mean
[142:30] literally me. Berg and Brian are going
[142:33] to be back in under 24 hours. Yes. Uh
[142:36] talking about Warner Brothers stuff and
[142:38] then we'll be back the following day
[142:39] with Universal and then the big one at
[142:42] the end of the week, Disney.
[142:43] >> But they do give us less recovery time
[142:45] in between each of these streams.
[142:47] >> They can't even give us a full 24 gap.
[142:50] But um and and actually you're probably
[142:52] going to see some other faces in
[142:53] addition to our ugly mugs. Uh uh Gina
[142:56] Paleo is probably going to show up. Abby
[142:57] is probably gonna show up. You might see
[142:59] Brian on camera a little bit more. Uh,
[143:01] who knows? But like I'm very there is
[143:03] something each of those days that I am
[143:05] very excited for. Absolutely. We've
[143:07] already there's great stuff today
[143:09] obviously and we might even get a little
[143:10] bit more Warner Brothers tomorrow. DC
[143:12] news. Do we get our first look at
[143:14] Clayface? We know we'll definitely get
[143:16] some Supergirl stuff. Maybe some man of
[143:18] tomorrow.
[143:19] >> Maybe some man of tomorrow stuff. also
[143:21] like any news on Batman, you know, like
[143:25] whether that's release date, production
[143:27] stills, like you know, like
[143:29] >> so like we know some casting, we know
[143:30] Scarlett Johansson's in that. Who's she
[143:32] playing? Yes,
[143:33] >> we know Sebastian Stan is in it. Who's
[143:34] he playing? A little bit more of that.
[143:37] Agreed. So all that DC stuff in addition
[143:39] to like
[143:40] >> Warner Brothers has been on a hell of a
[143:42] run with original IP.
[143:43] >> Sinners one battle after another weapons
[143:46] like you know. So, I mean, you kind of
[143:48] have to trust
[143:50] that streak might continue. They might
[143:52] have some good stuff. There's a
[143:53] Minecraft movie sequel that I know is in
[143:55] the works that probably aiming for next
[143:57] year.
[143:57] >> I mean, I'm very excited for for the DC
[143:59] news tomorrow, but if the past year has
[144:01] taught me anything about Warner
[144:03] Brothers, it's that they're willing to
[144:04] take a chance on something that's not
[144:05] franchise, not pre-nown IP. That's kind
[144:09] of what I'm the most excited to see from
[144:11] them specifically. I already kind of
[144:12] have my head wrapped around what DC has
[144:15] on offer. I I kind of just want to see
[144:18] like what other stuff are they going to
[144:19] use the Oscar clout from this past year
[144:22] to do.
[144:22] >> Yes. Yeah. Absolutely. And then, you
[144:26] know, that third day Universal, that
[144:28] one's a little more interesting. I mean,
[144:30] Universal has um again was the one of
[144:34] the two biggest studios in Hollywood.
[144:37] I'm sure there will be uh what's the
[144:39] Minions movie called? Monsters and
[144:40] Minions. one with the Cthulhu uh little
[144:44] Cthulhu minion.
[144:45] >> That'll be that'll be a big one. They've
[144:47] got a bunch of I mean, do we get
[144:48] >> Do they get Are they doing Cat in the
[144:50] Hat? Is that Universal?
[144:51] >> I think that's Universal. Do we get
[144:53] Jurassic News? Like whatever the next
[144:55] entry in that franchise is going to be
[144:57] and maybe that gets dated. Uh Fast and
[145:00] the Furious Furious is a big one.
[145:02] >> Uh there's probably 10 other huge
[145:04] franchises I'm not remembering right
[145:05] now. And then finally, we end with
[145:07] Disney where we we're going to get
[145:10] Doomsday. It's already been confirmed
[145:12] that there will be doom doomsday news,
[145:14] whether that is footage or trailer or
[145:16] something like that will be shown on
[145:18] Thursday.
[145:18] >> It is wild we don't have a trailer yet.
[145:21] Um especially since we've gotten a Dune
[145:23] trailer.
[145:23] >> We've had four mood piece
[145:26] scenes
[145:27] >> um that were never officially dropped
[145:29] online. You had to be in a theater to
[145:31] see those. Uh so maybe we get the actual
[145:33] trailer there. Um Mandalorian and Grou
[145:36] is obviously kind of their next big
[145:37] movie. So we get a little bit of that in
[145:38] addition to Devil Wars Prada 2. uh Star
[145:41] Wars Starf Fighter.
[145:42] >> Oh, yeah.
[145:43] >> Talk about that. Maybe supposedly uh
[145:46] Secret Wars has just gone into
[145:47] pre-production or something like that.
[145:49] So, like they're not gonna be able to
[145:50] show us anything from Secret Wars, but
[145:52] maybe they even talk about it a little
[145:53] bit.
[145:53] >> Yeah,
[145:54] >> maybe we even get X-Men news.
[145:55] >> Yeah, I could see that.
[145:56] >> If if they're following this lead and
[145:58] jumping ahead multiple years. Yeah.
[146:01] >> But yeah, I think Everyday has a lot of
[146:02] stuff. And again, like these are the
[146:04] panels we're covering. You know, there's
[146:05] also uh other panels. Amazon MGM has a
[146:08] panel I believe on No, on Wednesday. I I
[146:11] I lose track. It's It's a crazy goddamn
[146:15] week.
[146:15] >> You were right. That's That's a
[146:16] Wednesday panel. We'll probably cover
[146:18] that on Thursday. Yes. Um there's also a
[146:21] a Neon panel tomorrow morning. Neon, the
[146:25] makers of lots of cool.
[146:27] >> Yes. Lots of cool uh horror movies and
[146:29] and arty films and stuff like that. Um
[146:31] there's also a Paramount panel early on
[146:33] Thursday that we'll talk about when we
[146:35] cover the Disney panel later on
[146:37] Thursday.
[146:37] >> Yeah. So there we're going to do our
[146:39] best in addition to the live coverage of
[146:41] the panels to be uh doing what we can to
[146:43] summarize and contextualize the news
[146:45] from the panels we were not live during.
[146:48] It's a very heavy news week. For those
[146:50] of you who are break fans, we're
[146:51] basically doing double headlines
[146:53] episodes every day all week long.
[146:56] >> There will not be any break room
[146:57] episodes this week. We're kind of doing
[146:58] break room on new rock stars this week.
[147:00] We're just we're covering it. We're
[147:01] doing it live.
[147:02] >> We're doing it live. Um and thank and
[147:05] thank you. You know, so many folks I'm
[147:08] seeing in the chat that have been here
[147:09] the whole time. I know uh people have
[147:12] come and gone and or kind of showed up.
[147:14] It's it's so nice like this is a a
[147:18] perfect kind of event for us where we
[147:21] get to Eric and Jessica get to be in Las
[147:23] Vegas, get to absorb this. They're
[147:26] already formulating videos. In fact,
[147:27] you're probably going to see some videos
[147:30] in the very near future uh with Eric's
[147:32] voice, Jessica's voice being made. We're
[147:34] still going to be putting out kind of
[147:35] normal New Rockstars, New Rockstar style
[147:38] videos, uh during this week, but then we
[147:41] kind of just get to be here and process
[147:42] that news with you in real time. And
[147:44] it's so awesome that you guys are being
[147:45] a part of that and and for the most part
[147:48] being nice and respectful in the chat.
[147:50] Honestly, I've only had to I've only had
[147:52] to knock uh one turd out. Uh which for
[147:56] any, you know, two and a half hour
[147:59] period for a man my age is wonderful
[148:01] news.
[148:01] >> That's right. What do they say that like
[148:03] uh there's a certain percentage of any
[148:05] food stuff that can be rat droppings?
[148:07] Yes. You know what I mean? That's like
[148:08] any chat. Yeah.
[148:09] >> Any chat's going to have some turrets,
[148:10] you know? So, it's fine.
[148:12] >> Um
[148:13] >> #over20
[148:15] Malor saying hell yeah. Um,
[148:17] >> that's that's this uh this stream's meat
[148:20] wife is over under.
[148:21] >> Yeah, that's right. You had to be there
[148:22] to really appreciate that. This is not a
[148:24] meme that will exist outside of this
[148:26] chat. Yes.
[148:26] >> Unless you come back tomorrow.
[148:28] >> Yeah. Then it'll exist in tomorrow's
[148:29] chat.
[148:30] >> That's right. There it is. Carson
[148:31] Robinson saying hashtag overunder 20%.
[148:33] >> Overunder.
[148:35] >> Um, yeah.
[148:36] >> Okay. Well, uh, it feels like we may
[148:40] still get a drip of, um,
[148:42] >> again, we still haven't gotten the
[148:43] Jumanji, and we know they're there, so
[148:45] there's definitely going to be some
[148:46] Jumani.
[148:46] >> Maf saying, "Loved everything so far,
[148:48] but where's 28 years later?" I I got to
[148:50] tell you, if you're a horror fan and you
[148:52] didn't see 28 Years Later and Bone
[148:54] Temple, 28 Years Later and Bone Temple
[148:57] make some of the weirdest godamn choices
[149:00] and they work so well.
[149:02] >> Here's the thing. Like it was a bold
[149:05] choice to like make both those movies
[149:06] and have both of them come out in under
[149:09] 12 months. I think six months even.
[149:11] >> Yeah. Six months apart. One was last
[149:12] summer and one was like January of this
[149:13] year.
[149:14] >> They didn't make as much money as they
[149:15] kind of wanted to. Those are both Sony
[149:17] movies. Uh and there was talk that if
[149:19] they did good enough then they would
[149:20] greenlight.
[149:21] >> There'd be a third one.
[149:22] >> Another one has yet to be greenlighted
[149:24] which is a shame because those movies
[149:26] are so good. I liked I think I liked 28
[149:30] Years a little bit more than The Bone
[149:31] Temple, but I loved both of them.
[149:33] >> They're both fantastic. And I think Bone
[149:35] Temple has I won't spoil it for those
[149:38] that haven't seen it. Bone Temple has
[149:40] one of the most memorable sequences in
[149:42] any movie I've ever seen.
[149:44] >> And also, I mean, not that anybody
[149:47] needed to be reminded of this, Rafe.
[149:49] >> What a what a just going all out for it.
[149:52] Just absolutely incredible. How does
[149:54] that tiny island of Britannia produce so
[149:59] many godamn good actors? He's so good.
[150:03] Um,
[150:05] >> okay. Uh, Sarah Hatchorian $2 super chat
[150:08] over under 20%. We actually get the
[150:10] t-shirt.
[150:11] >> Sarah, there's already a Slack thread
[150:14] going on about that started during this
[150:16] chat.
[150:17] >> We do have a a tweet from New Rockstars.
[150:19] A trailer for Jumanji open world is the
[150:21] full title ends Sony's Cineacon panel.
[150:24] Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black
[150:26] >> and Kevin Hart are on stage teg teasing
[150:29] each other. Those three.
[150:31] >> No.
[150:32] >> Um in praising Robin Williams.
[150:34] Interesting. Johnson teases that one of
[150:37] the dice used in the original Jumanji
[150:39] film will be in every scene. I don't
[150:42] know how we would know that. Just in his
[150:44] pocket or
[150:45] >> just hang.
[150:46] >> Cool.
[150:47] You know what? The Jumanji movies are
[150:50] fun.
[150:51] >> They're fun. They're super fun. I grew
[150:53] up on the first I grew up on the Chris
[150:54] von Alsberg picture book before the
[150:57] film.
[150:57] >> Oh wow.
[150:58] >> Same guy who did Polar Express. Yes. Uh
[151:01] I think Legend of the Zephyr was another
[151:03] one of his. Okay. Or Voyage of the
[151:04] Zephyr. But yeah, like
[151:06] >> uh so you know, Jamanji is something
[151:08] that's been with me since I was a teeny
[151:10] tiny guy. And and both of the both of
[151:13] the the Rockjack Black uh entries in the
[151:17] franchise are good times. You know what
[151:19] I mean? I don't I don't leave those
[151:21] movies angry. I don't leave those movies
[151:23] grossly disappointed. I feel like
[151:24] expectations are set and met. Uh
[151:27] >> no one's telling me it's going to be the
[151:28] most emotional Jumanji yet. And that's
[151:30] good. That's not what I go to those
[151:31] movies for.
[151:32] >> Just you wait. They haven't left the
[151:34] stage yet.
[151:35] >> Yeah. Yeah. It's going to be the most
[151:36] emotional Jumanji yet.
[151:39] >> Um Yeah. That's great. Okay. Well, let's
[151:43] do uh uh some just final outro wrap up
[151:46] of what we got tonight. Uh we got a
[151:50] scene from Spider-Man Brand New Day uh
[151:53] showing Peter remating Ned and MJ,
[151:56] finding out some stuff about what's
[151:58] happened in between the movies. We got
[152:00] uh a look at the opening scene from
[152:03] Spider-Man uh Beyond the Spider-Verse.
[152:06] Uh we've got some trailers for
[152:08] Insidious. We got a look at Resident
[152:10] Evil uh trailer for Jumanji. Uh what am
[152:14] I I mean at one point Sony just started
[152:17] firing this stuff out.
[152:18] >> There were some like kind of other
[152:19] projects mentioned including um uh The
[152:22] Social Reckoning. Um the the fact that
[152:25] just like a couple movies are in
[152:26] development like a Hell Divers film, a
[152:29] Bloodborne film. Um the director and
[152:32] creator of Godzilla Minus one has a
[152:35] movie called Grand Gear. All one word.
[152:37] We don't know anything about it other
[152:38] than he's doing it and it's coming out
[152:40] in 2028. Um they we were told that the
[152:44] Zelda film has wrapped Principal
[152:46] Photography.
[152:47] >> Yes. Yes. Don't really know much more
[152:48] about it beyond that.
[152:49] >> Uh Taoati is a movie called Clara and
[152:51] the Sun. It's going to be out in October
[152:53] of this year. That is a much sooner uh
[152:56] than 2028.
[152:57] >> Yes, that's very soon.
[152:58] >> Yes.
[152:59] >> Um okay. And then of course uh thank you
[153:01] to Curiosity Box for sponsoring today's
[153:04] stream. Uh hit up nerd riot.shop. shop,
[153:07] pick up some merch, uh support the

[153:20] reading of MorbiiUs Friday at 7. I've
[153:22] been saying it wrong the whole night. Uh
[153:24] Friday at 700 p.m. Um uh
[153:27] >> with special guest Carl Tart.
[153:29] >> With special guest Carl Tart, we'll be
[153:30] we'll be doing a stage reading of
[153:31] MorbiiUs. Uh that is it for us today.
[153:34] Make sure to like this video, subscribe
[153:36] to New Rockstars on YouTube. Um uh if
[153:39] you uh want to follow us on uh on
[153:42] Twitter, we'll be doing live updates
[153:44] from Cineacon all week. And Brian, if
[153:46] you could pull up the schedule of when
[153:48] we're streaming, uh once more. Uh we
[153:51] will be back those because I couldn't
[153:53] remember. Uh we will be back tomorrow at
[153:55] 4:00 for the Warner Brothers stream.
[153:57] Expect to get some DC news there. Uh
[154:00] thanks so much for tuning in. We will
[154:02] see you all tomorrow. Uh, and that's it.
[154:04] Thank you all so much.
[154:05] >> Take care of yourselves, everybody.
[154:07] Hydrate. Get some rest.
[154:08] >> Go hydrate.
[154:10] >> One more super chat.
[154:11] >> Over under 20%. Doom 3 beats Doomsday at
[154:14] box office.
[154:16] >> I mean, here's the thing. In my heart,
[154:18] number one with a bullet. But, okay.
[154:20] Chances it makes more money than
[154:22] Doomsday. Zero chance. I I don't think a
[154:24] Dune movie has ever made a billion
[154:26] dollars. Uh, and the last Avengers movie
[154:28] made uh $2 billion. So, so yeah, I think
[154:31] I think
[154:32] >> even if it can be and and they can both
[154:34] be considered a success and there's
[154:35] certainly a world where Dune is
[154:37] considered a bigger success relatively
[154:39] speaking than Avengers, but no, it will
[154:41] not make more money no matter what. But,
[154:43] so I take your under 20%. I do like the
[154:45] over under 20% because there's no
[154:47] judgment in it. No,
[154:48] >> I'm I'm under has the same value as
[154:51] over, right? 20% is this arbitrary
[154:54] number that we've settled on for no good
[154:56] reason.
[154:57] >> Yeah. Hey, I'll take it. I'll take it.
[154:58] >> Bless your hearts. Also, I just want to
[155:00] shout out somebody. Oh, it's probably
[155:02] already flown uh flown by. Oh, Lost
[155:05] Chief saying the hierarchy of power on
[155:07] Jumanji is about to change.
[155:09] >> Yeah,
[155:10] >> you're the real one. You're a real one,
[155:11] Lost Chief. Thank you. Thank you
[155:13] everybody for doing great bits in the
[155:15] chat all night long.
[155:15] >> Thanks everybody. It's been fun hanging
[155:17] out. Yeah, we'll be back tomorrow.
[155:24] Heat. Heat. N.
[155:34] Heat.
[155:53] Heat.
