[0:13] why are all of these isekai so popular

[0:18] garner their fame through great stories
[0:20] and amazing characters
[0:22] some feel as if they simply gain
[0:24] viewership based on the fact that they
[0:26] are simply izekiz
[0:28] when i decided to think about it more i
[0:30] came to a somewhat sad conclusion
[0:32] why do people play games watch films or
[0:34] anime
[0:36] why do we drink alcohol even when we
[0:38] know it's damaging ass
[0:40] the simple answer is it's fun but for
[0:43] some people this fun is an escape from
[0:45] reality we all need an escape once in a
[0:48] while however in some cases these things
[0:51] that we do use to escape reality can
[0:54] almost become damaging or possibly
[0:57] life-threatening some people do the same
[0:59] thing with work making them workaholics
[1:01] sometimes and obviously that's not
[1:03] healthy either
[1:04] as someone that's not very old himself i
[1:07] don't want to feel like i'm preaching
[1:08] but i do believe life is about balance
[1:11] being able to balance the tough things
[1:14] in life with the happy and things that
[1:17] help us escape
[1:19] is the best way to live a functioning
[1:21] life in my opinion

[1:24] functions by the fact that it relates
[1:26] with people some people hate their lives
[1:28] and most people are depressed these days
[1:31] while i'm not sure if we're more
[1:33] depressed or we got asked the question
[1:35] and gave a proper answer for the first
[1:37] time that's a topic for another time
[1:39] this is something that i've thought
[1:41] about a lot throughout a different idea
[1:44] if people could do full day vr like sao
[1:46] some people wouldn't leave that world
[1:49] the idea of being in a world where
[1:51] you're allowed to be a different person
[1:53] is appealing to people
[1:54] and if they got a chance to restart
[1:56] their lives they would this has the same
[1:59] ideas going back in time and changing
[2:01] the little things but if you restart
[2:04] you'd get to change everything you don't
[2:06] like basically idea plays with those
[2:09] things in our brains making a story
[2:12] relate and resonate with some people
[2:15] while some might think this is sad i
[2:17] think this is a genius idea to start a
[2:20] story with problematic characters while
[2:22] adding a fantasy element
[2:24] after all most people find reality
[2:26] boring and the idea of bettering
[2:28] yourself relatable
[2:30] these ideas are best represented in a
[2:33] show called mushuku tensei as the main
[2:36] character lived a terrible life and was
[2:38] a terrible person
[2:40] in the story he strives to learn and
[2:43] become a better person if you want to

[2:53] there are many ways that the story can
[2:54] be presented while still keeping the
[2:56] basic idea the same
[2:58] overlord has a great twist on the idea
[3:01] and is one of the most popular anime due
[3:04] to the way that he used the idea the
[3:06] main change is how the mc doesn't feel
[3:08] human emotions properly anymore as he's
[3:10] known dead
[3:11] making his choices more evil the more
[3:14] this becomes normal to him with a cast
[3:17] of interesting characters and a simple
[3:19] yet large world
[3:20] it managed to capture the interest of
[3:23] many people that have watched it
[3:25] as i myself write stories this is a very
[3:27] interesting topic to think about as
[3:29] there are many different archetypes of
[3:30] story writing and insecurity is one of
[3:32] the more modern ones
[3:33] normally this would restrict your
[3:35] freedom when writing a story however the
[3:37] idea of reincarnating in a different
[3:39] world allows a lot of freedom
[3:41] as a reader and viewer of these stories
[3:43] i always found myself fascinated waiting
[3:45] to learn more about this new world and
[3:47] how it functions
[3:49] lastly i'll talk about why isekai's
[3:51] aren't going to be going away anytime
[3:52] soon think back 12 years do you remember
[3:55] all the zombie themed books
[3:57] games shows films and stories
[4:01] the reason why the zombie fiend died was
[4:03] due to the restrictions the story
[4:05] revolving around them was
[4:07] most of the things happening were still
[4:09] based in reality and honestly there's
[4:11] only one movie series that i loved with
[4:14] the zombie theme
[4:16] these being the resonant evil films now
[4:19] if you like the games good but the
[4:21] movies were their own thing with the
[4:23] main character getting super powers
[4:26] a much different take on the zombie
[4:27] topic
[4:29] the biggest difference between the two
[4:30] themes is the freedom that they allow
[4:32] when creating a world
[4:34] a sakai allows two new roles to be
[4:37] created and depending on the way you
[4:40] decide to develop them there's infinite
[4:42] possibilities
[4:44] creating a twist for these stories is
[4:46] easy and allows the creation of very
[4:50] different main characters from each
[4:51] other
[4:53] if you think about it a lot of the main
[4:55] characters in these worlds fundamentally
[4:58] have very different aspects to each
[4:59] other
[5:00] for example think about that one time i
[5:02] was reincarnated as a slime and overlord
[5:05] whilst you could say that they're both
[5:06] mobs monsters they still have very
[5:09] different characters
[5:10] they even have different characteristics
[5:12] and you could still make some
[5:14] comparisons between them so for example
[5:16] let's think about shield hero the main
[5:17] character of shield hero is very
[5:19] different to them and honestly he has a
[5:21] totally different agenda honestly think
[5:23] about it with zombie shows
[5:26] you're very much targeting a specific
[5:27] audience which is adults but with
[5:29] something like an issac you could go for
[5:31] children
[5:33] teens or adults
[5:35] just like i said the creative freedom is
[5:37] much larger with an isekai type story
