[00:02] be making right now that's costing you thousands of dollars regardless of whether you're a new or a seasoned VTuber. But don't worry because in this making, what you can do to fix it, and some personal recommendations. Oh, and [00:15] by the way, that last mistake will not only save you money, but it'll elevate your entire VTuber setup for basically nothing. Let's get it. Mistake number one, commissioning VTuber models too early. When you're new into VTubing, [00:28] your first instinct shouldn't be to get a custom VTuber model no matter how tempting it is, especially not one with the highest quality art, the highest quality rigging, complete with all the bells and whistles. It's kind of like [00:40] just passed your driving test. Your focus at this point should be to get familiar with VTubing, develop your skills, and see if VTubing is even for not, then you're potentially wasting $3,000 and 69 cents on that fancy new [00:55] model with 67 toggles. See what I did there? But to be a VTuber, you still need a VTuber model. So, what do you do? Well, if there was only a way to get a model that still has high quality art, fluid [01:07] rigging, and would let you customize it however you want at an affordable price. however you want at an affordable price. Oh. last year and people loved it. Every VTuber was foaming at the mouth for [01:21] more. It got so popular that people started making their own versions. choose from like Prism, Lizmeta, and Sen Maku. And for my bros out there, don't [01:33] worry, you're also covered with Keoki's and Wani Shimas' customizable male models. So, what are they? Well, as the name implies, all of them come with a bunch of presets for you to mix and match. From the hair to accessories to [01:45] clothes, it's all up to you how you want to customize your own model. But if that wasn't enough, check this out. You can also retexture [music] each individual part however you want. Oh, and did I mention that people are making free [01:57] fact that you can get every single update for free once you bought it? Customizable models are insane value, dude, and basically cover your primary VTuber needs. But how about setup needs? Even if you have a model, they are [02:12] nothing without a working setup. So, you're probably thinking, "I should get the best hardware to make the best out of my model, right?" Wrong. That's mistake number two, getting gear before getting good. VTubing is a medium that [02:24] leverages technology by nature. iPhones for face tracking, studio microphones to sound sexy I am, and even full body motion capture trackers. These are just part of what it means to be a VTuber. But just because we need them doesn't [02:36] mean they have to be expensive. See, much like customizable models, equipment for VTubers have gotten a whole lot more accessible in recent years. With the advent of new technology, getting that high quality production value doesn't [02:48] mortgage. Face tracking doesn't need the latest iPhone 17. An iPhone X works just fine. In fact, it's what I'm using right now. [03:00] >> Or if you're a PC gamer, then you might likely have an RTX GPU, which means that you can get high quality face tracking for free so long as you have a webcam and decent lighting. As for microphones, you don't need to spend hundreds on the [03:13] Shure SM7B just because everybody else is using it. Something like the Rode PodMic will sound just as good for a quarter of the price. This is actually VTubing. But maybe you don't like XLRs. If so, then Elgato's USB mic, the Wave [03:26] 3, can fit the bill. There are so many options nowadays. Links to these will with everything else. And for you 3D VTubers out there, long gone are the days where you'd have to spend over a thousand dollars just to get high [03:40] quality full body trackers like the Vives. They take up a lot of room due to the base stations, which also need direct line of sight with the trackers or else it just won't work. So, how can you avoid all of that but still get good [03:52] tracking? Well, nowadays there are more and more entries into the much smaller and much more compact world of IMUs. These are basically tiny trackers the requirements like base stations and direct line of sight as everything is [04:06] done internally. I recommend looking up Reverb Cap's full body trackers. The full set of 15 performs incredibly well despite its relatively cheap $200 price tag. A great bang for your buck considering that's the cost of a single [04:20] them that you should totally check out after this video. But what if you're of things strapped around your appendages? Then try full body tracking using your webcam. Yes, that's actually a thing, and yes, [04:36] it's as crazy as it sounds. Check out webcam motion capture and XR Animator, webcam motion capture and XR Animator, which are $1.99 and $0 respectively. And yes, you can use your own models with them. But at the end of the day, it [04:48] doesn't matter if you have the best equipment or the best model if you don't leverage the one big advantage you have as a VTuber, marketability. VTubers are just naturally more marketable because we are meticulously designed characters [05:01] instead of just a dude. However, this does come with a catch. We VTubers can't just snap an IRL pic of ourselves and call it a day. Instead, we have to commission artwork and lots of it. The cost can quickly add up, which leads to [05:15] our next mistake, ignoring pre-made or templated commissions. Regular art commissions are great. You can get really specific with details and ideas to life. But because they are custom-made for each client, they can [05:30] two really awesome ways to get affordable high quality art that you may not have even heard of before, YCH commissions and adoptables. Let me know if you've actually heard of them. But let me explain what both of these [05:44] are in case you don't. Starting with the YCH commissions. YCH stands for your character here, and this type of commission involves drawing on top of a template that the artist creates. This means less things to draw, therefore art [05:56] gets done quicker, and are therefore much cheaper all the while preserving a high degree of quality. But here's a tip that you should keep in mind. Artists love creating templates for seasonal events like Christmas, Halloween, and [06:08] special attention to these times of the year as you'll get a bunch more options and maybe even some special discounts. The cool thing about YCH commissions is illustrations. There are some for emotes, props, and even backgrounds. As [06:23] long as you've got a reference sheet, the artist will work their magic. But little more involved like VTuber designs or even VTuber models? Then adoptables These are commonly sold as two versions, adoptable designs and adoptable models. [06:39] suggests, pre-made VTuber designs created by artists that you can purchase and adopt for yourselves. They are much cheaper than actually commissioning a custom design, and you can find some really cool stuff out there. Once you [06:52] content. But what if you take that concept and then dial it to a hundred? Well, then you get adoptable models. These are fully drawn and fully rigged create them in bulk to sell or from VTubers who are looking to sell their [07:07] old model and recoup some of the cost. But aside from saving a bit of cash, these as opposed to commissioning your own? Well, I'm glad you asked. They usually come bundled with a bunch of other goodies like emotes, overlays, [07:21] artwork, and even 3D models in some cases. Literally everything you need for VTubing in one package. However, regardless of what you're buying or that you should be doing to make sure you don't spend more than your budget. [07:35] suggest that you take monetized content in the licenses filter when looking for artists. This way you're not surprised with extra fees as some artists charge up to 100% or more of the base price for usage in monetized content. In other [07:49] words, if you're a VTuber, you might get charged more than what you initially personalities, and apparently the fact that we're all closeted Filipinos, [08:03] hint. A severed hand. I'm of course talking about props. VTubers use props all the time to make their own content more immersive, and a good use of props can really bring a lot of life into your streams and content. [08:17] But getting your own props can cost a pretty penny. Thankfully, the VTuber community just loves to share, which brings us to mistake number four, not using community-made assets. If you aren't using community-made assets, [08:30] >> [laughter] >> The VTuber community is chock-full of incredible artists willing to create dozens of assets for you and me to use. But you might be asking, "Ziko's, I'm broke, and my stream is giving white [08:42] bread with how plain it is. Of course I want it, but I don't even know where to get it." Well, white bread person, let me show you the library of Alexandria for VTuber assets. Not one, but two places where you can get endless amounts [08:55] of not only affordable assets, but free ones, too. First is the VTuber assets Discord server. It has everything from props to seasonal assets and even adoptables and trading markets where you can trade a service for a paid asset or [09:07] vice versa. It's a mix of both paid and free assets, and whatever you're thinking about, it's probably there. It even bans all AI usage, meaning everything you see is made by hand by real artists. Can I get a hell yeah? [09:26] VTuber Nook. Similar to the VTuber asset [music] Discord server, it has a wide difference here is that everything on this website is completely free to use. Overlays, models, music, assets, and even tutorials. Check it out, they even [09:41] have my PNGTuber tutorial video here. I didn't even submit this. I I'm only But while assets can give life to your VTuber setup, making this last mistake can have you leaving so much potential on the table. And that is mistake number [09:55] five, ignoring VTuber tech. Talented and hardworking devs are always cooking up new and exciting tools for us VTubers to use. Some make streams more interesting, others improve our quality of life. Regardless of what they are, you can [10:08] skyrocket your production value with very little in the way of cost. Before bet you're wondering how you can keep up with all the newest VTuber tech. Well, that part's easy. You're already doing it by watching my videos. I'll be [10:21] VTuber tech that comes out, so make sure you subscribe to keep up to date. Now, Shoes. Developed by Mura, this VTuber app lets you add tons of post-processing effects to your scenes like camera shakes, color correction, and even [10:37] particles, allowing you to look super cinematic and aesthetic AF. Look, I can finally make this RTX on and off meme. Crazy difference though, right? This app has so much potential to really elevate the look of your streams to the next [10:49] the look of your streams to the next level. And guess what? It only costs $5. Insane value. Just like my second recommendation, Emote Lab. It is an emote creation app. And not only that, these are customizable animated emotes. [11:03] mentioned at the start of the video, you can also pick and choose pre-made options, retexture existing options, and even draw your own. Also, can we just take a minute to appreciate the sheer amount of animations to select from? [11:17] Good lordy. All for the affordable price of $8. For how powerful this app is, that is honestly a steal. I love the app so much over how to use it and the type of results that you can expect straight out [11:32] results that you can expect straight out of the box. Ciao.
