# How to Get Sponsorships as a Small Streamer

> Source: [How to Get Sponsorships as a Small Streamer](https://youtube.com/watch?v=VBPakj2zfkU)

## Summary

This video teaches small streamers how to secure sponsorships by crafting effective pitches. The host, Barry, breaks down a step-by-step framework covering clarity, authority, problem-solving, and pricing, using a coaching example with a client named Ethan.

### Key Points

- **Sponsorships as a Revenue Stream** [00:00] — Top streamers like xQc and Ludwig can earn thousands from sponsorships, even without Twitch payouts. Small streamers can also tap into this revenue.
- **First Impression is Crucial** [01:25] — The pitch is the most important moment. Streamers should prepare a clear, concise introduction that tells companies who they are and what they do.
- **Common Pitch Mistakes** [02:07] — A client's initial pitch to Nike was vague ('main game NBA 2K'). Clarity is essential; companies delete confusing emails immediately.
- **Establish Authority** [03:06] — State credentials (e.g., Twitch Partner) to show expertise. Avoid focusing on viewer count; companies care about brand fit first.
- **Solve Their Problem** [04:17] — Research the company and propose a specific idea that addresses their pain point. Example: Barry pitched Elgato a plugin showcase that became his top video.
- **Find Your Unique Why** [05:33] — Identify what makes you different. Ethan's unique angle: he is a sneakerhead with a tight-knit community that shares his passion.
- **Pricing Formula** [06:46] — Charge average viewers over 90 days × $1.50 per hour. For Ethan (35 avg viewers, 4-hour stream): $210 per stream.
- **Pitch Structure** [08:27] — Include: problem/solution idea, duration, requirements, price, and next step (e.g., send contract). End with a positive, personal note.

### Conclusion

A successful sponsorship pitch requires clarity, authority, a problem-solving idea, a unique value proposition, and a clear call to action. Small streamers can compete by focusing on brand fit and offering specific value.

## Transcript

even thousands of dollars just to play a game or talk about a product this could be your reality even as a small streamer while many streamers focus on subs and
bits top streamers like xqc pirate software and Ludwick could continue fulltime even without twitch payouts thanks to sponsorships so how do you pit yourself to companies and how much do you even charge if you're new here my
name is Barry I run the content Delta Channel I am a twitch partner focusing on educating other streamers on content creation as a business we also talk about streaming Tech and software and my mission is to help 10,000 content
creators go full-time I know that getting contacted by companies to do sponsored streams is not easy as a starting streamer I remember the first time I went to twitchcon and I really wanted to talk to some Brands so I made
my way into the hall and found the brand I really wanted to talk to but the moment I got to the front of the queue I just walked away I was just standing there looking at this guy big beard cap at the booth and I didn't even know how
I should introduce myself I felt so stupid but this happens to everyone well most people not you you're watching this video the first moment you make contact
that first impression is the most important moment in that that is what a pitch is so let me give you some homework it's only going to take a minute but if you really want to learn how to get sponsorships as a small
streamer you should probably follow along if you were in my shoes and you had just approached your dream company to be sponsored by then how would you present yourself what would you say in one or two lines go ahead and write that
down pause the video if you have to but while you're thinking about that go ahead and leave a comment down below with who your dream sponsorship would be all done good I did this exercise with a coaching client of mine and this is what
they came up with for their dream sponsor Nike hi I'm Ethan and my main game is NBA 2k2 I'd love to work with you to promote your shoes to my community and you may already notice that this is not a particularly good
pitch you don't get a lot of info for example what do you even mean by main game it's very important that you are explicit and clear about who you are and what you do providing Clarity making sure that the company is not confused is
important because it makes you easy to understand and easy to work with these companies might get hundreds or thousands of emails a day and the moment they get confused they just delete the email they don't even look at it so we
are going to make sure that our email gets read and that we get a reply but this is much easier than it sounds your you're just going to tell them why they should be listening to you and working with you over all others just take a
look at what I just told you about myself at the start if you're new here my name is Barry I run the content Delta Channel I am a twitch partner focusing on educating other streamers on content creation as a business see what I did
there I told you who I am and then I told you I'm a twitch partner I didn't do that to brag I did that because if I am a twitch partner then I probably know a thing or two about streaming you can do the exact same with your Twitch
channel to show that you are the right person to talk to this is what is called Authority but most streamers fall into a trap here that can cost them any chance at a sponsorship something which I often see and which Ethan did as well is that
they say something like I'm a twitch affiliate with 35 viewers but that's a mistake right now companies just want to know who you are and sort of get a Vibe check going with you to see if you mesh well with their brand at this point it
doesn't matter how many viewers you have and once they know who you are it is time for the next thing and this is something that took Ethan a while to understand companies love it when they don't have to do any work so even before
you contact a company and make your pitch do some research this is how I landed my first sponsorship gig with elato at my second twitchcon I knew how to introduce myself I knew knew what I was going to say I knew how I was going
to say it I knew how to pitch so I went up to a sponsor manager at the elato booth in Paris and to introduce myself I said everyone knows that your stream decks are amazing versatile products but the problem is that most people don't
know how to use them effectively I have an idea in which I show five plugins that allow twitch OBS and the stream deck to work together and showcase the ability that no no one else shows and that is how this video was made which at
the time of speaking is by far the most successful video on my channel if you can show them the problem they are having and a solution to that problem then you have done their work for them and they are more likely to want to work
with you with this in mind Ethan and I continued crafting his pitch but there was still one thing missing he is not the only NBA 2K 25 player in the world and he definitely L is not the only twitch affiliate in the world so what
makes Ethan unique why is it that his dream sponsor Nike has to work with him and not one of the hundreds of others well he said he was funny and had a close connection with this audience but so do many others so I asked him why he
said that his audience is tight-knit and real sneakerheads just like him his background is a wall of different sneakers and he wants to spread it to other people and I asked him again why after asking him a few more times
eventually he came up with this I am a sneaker head who wants to communicate my love for sneakers to other people I have some very exclusive Nikes and we talk about sneakers and sneaker care all the time while we play games now that we had
Ethan's why it was time to make the offer but just making the offer is not the end of it there is one key thing we need to do which makes it four and a half times more likely a company applies to you but before we talk about that we
need to know how much you need to charge for the offer that you are making there are some very complicated ways to do this but after talking to some marketing experts in the streaming space the best way to think about this is a simple
formula take your average viewers over the last 90 days and multiply that by 1 and a half that is how much you can charge per hour for a sponsored stream so take Ethan for example who has 30 5 average viewers well Ethan streams for 4
hours at a time and usually companies will sponsor between 2 and 4 hours of a stream so Ethan would be able to charge $15 to $210 for a single stream this is the simple formula but there are much more
Nitty Gritty formulas which take your followers the brand size and the opportunity cost into consideration that is where the sponsor of today's video can help you her motor do G her motor. is the influencer marketing agency with
over two decades of experience that sets fairness first it is not uncommon for marketing agencies to pocket 40 to 60% and sometimes even up to 90% of what the
influencers should be earning for sponsorships but not her motor they make sure that their influencers can always see the contracts that they sign and they only charge a flat fee so you end up being paid more and if you ever get a
free deal checking service is there for you go take their influencer scorecard now to see how much you can charge for your sponsorships and to join their
waiting list to join their influencer program I will leave a link to the influencer scorecard in the description down below thank you her motor G for sponsoring this video now we're going to pitch the opportunity you've already
given them the idea in the problem and the solution so you just need to make it explicit one sponsored stream Where You execute your idea how long it would take what you need from them and how much you would charge then tell them what the
next step is what do they need to do to talk to you about this a call an email or maybe you will see them at a con you're going to maybe the next step is the contract so ask them to send the contract directly to your email once
you've done that your pitch is almost done there is just one thing you cannot forget or all the work you have done so far will have been for nothing I've said it before the company wants to feel good about the match between you your brand
and them so the last thing you do in your pitch is to leave the company with a good vibe thank them for the opportunity and say something that ENT your pitch on a positive and personal note now it's time to rewrite that pitch
you did at the start and remember remember the concepts Clarity Authority problem solution the why opportunity next steps emotion when you start
looking for sponsors it is always important to have a value proposition you can provide a lot of value to the company by having many viewers that see the sponsored stream so you will have to grow your audience if you want to grow
your audience naturally and without making that one crucial mistake that many streamers make then check out this video right here and as always always stream better stream smart
