[0:00] look if you clicked on this video you're [0:02] looking for horror movies that are [0:03] actually scary horror movies these days [0:06] just aren't that scary anymore sure some [0:09] of them are pretty good but not all of [0:11] them will actually scare you I'm talking [0:13] sleeping with the lights on scary I'm [0:15] talking showering with your eyes open [0:17] scary so I've gone through most of the [0:19] scary movie lists you can find on the [0:20] internet and I got to say these horror [0:23] movies I'm about to show you actually [0:26] scared me and we'll stick with you long [0:27] after the credits roll [0:34] don't you just hate jump scares there's [0:37] nothing I hate more than when movies try [0:39] way too hard to scare me and I'm just [0:40] sitting there [0:42] like okay maybe I'm being a little [0:44] harsher look as much as I love a good [0:46] jump scare they can get really boring [0:49] really fast take a look at these for [0:51] example [1:02] they're great for a quick jolt but it [1:05] doesn't always quite work and doesn't [1:07] really get you scared sure for a brief [1:10] moment you get all jumpy but that's [1:12] pretty much it lots of horror movies [1:15] stand to rely on this strob to get easy [1:16] scares and people often associate [1:19] getting shocked with getting scared I [1:21] mean that ain't fear you were just [1:23] surprised so you'd think that after [1:25] years and years of jump scares I'd still [1:27] be phased by what flickering lights in [1:30] that screeching violin sound please at [1:33] this point it's like when a comedian [1:34] says get it every time they make a joke [1:37] jump scares are okay they're great when [1:40] used effectively but having too much of [1:42] them though is basically admitting the [1:44] movie isn't scary enough on its own but [1:47] what if I told you that there's actually [1:48] a movie so scary it only needed one [1:52] masterfully executed jump scare [2:01] before I made this video I didn't [2:02] realize how Australia has been putting [2:05] out great horror movies for years [2:08] there's the babadook the loved ones more [2:11] recently you have talked to me and of [2:12] course Lake [ __ ] I don't even know [2:15] where to begin with this movie it's like [2:17] have you ever had the feeling of being [2:20] watched while watching cuz that's [2:22] exactly how this movie made me feel Lake [2:24] [ __ ] is about a family grieving the [2:27] loss of their daughter Alice who died by [2:29] drowning as her family comes to grips [2:31] with her death they all start having [2:33] nightmares and seemingly paranormal [2:35] encounters with Alice's ghost she shows [2:38] up in their dreams in photos and videos [2:41] and even in real life what follows is a [2:43] very unnerving look about what happens [2:46] when somebody close to you dies it's all [2:48] told through a mockumentary format which [2:51] added a sense of claustrophobic realism [2:54] which in turn makes the whole thing even [2:56] more unsettling the plot unfolds in a [2:59] way that makes it its horror turn from [3:00] something Supernatural into something [3:03] more psychological everything about his [3:06] movie is very atmospheric and the whole [3:08] thing feels like a true crime [3:10] documentary but with ghosts I'm not [3:12] going to tell you where the jump scare [3:14] is but I will say that you might not see [3:17] it coming cuz you know how jump scares [3:20] build that tense anticipation like [3:23] before they pay it off with that big [3:24] jump yeah like the whole movie feels [3:27] like it's one long jump scare buildup [3:30] I don't want to give anything more away [3:33] because this is a movie that you should [3:34] definitely see for [3:36] yourself Haunted House movies are pretty [3:39] Hit or Miss they're a classic horror [3:42] movie setting as old as the genre itself [3:45] and over the years we've seen tons of [3:48] them come out some of them are pretty [3:51] great and let's be honest some of them [3:52] are straight up dog [3:54] sh James Juan has been at the Forefront [3:56] of the Haunted House Revival with movies [3:58] like The Conjuring and Insidious while [4:01] these movies are great horror films and [4:03] actually provide you with decent scares [4:05] they lack a certain factor that makes it [4:07] hard for you to go to the bathroom in [4:09] the middle of the [4:19] [Music] [4:25] night I got to be honest when I first [4:27] saw Hell House LLC I thought it was when [4:29] of of those goofy Barkin bin horror [4:32] movies you'd watch when you just want to [4:34] turn your brain off but boy was I wrong [4:37] and the best and worst possible way best [4:39] cuz I found an actually scary horror [4:42] movie and worse cuz well pretty much the [4:45] same thing Hell House LLC is a found [4:47] footage movie about a group of friends [4:49] who created a haunted house attraction [4:50] called Hell House at an abandoned Hotel [4:52] in abdon New York as you could probably [4:54] tell making a haunted house attraction [4:56] at a rundown hotel with rumors of [4:59] satanic activities in the past isn't [5:01] going to end well the movie starts with [5:02] news reports about how 15 people died [5:05] and plenty more injured because of an [5:07] unknown malfunction during the opening [5:09] night of Hell House a documentary crew [5:12] is set on investigating what really [5:13] happened during that fateful night they [5:16] managed to interview people familiar [5:17] with the case and eventually track down [5:19] the last surviving member of the Hell [5:21] House staff Sarah Sarah provides them [5:24] with a vide tapes that show exactly what [5:26] went down and what went down is scary as [5:29] [ __ ] [5:30] it all builds up to an intense climax [5:32] that you just have to see to believe [5:34] also there's this [5:37] guy oh [ __ ] [5:39] dude what's up man what are you looking [5:47] at holy [5:49] [ __ ] got me [5:52] man the characters in this movie have [5:54] great chemistry and the way they act and [5:57] react are very believable if you imagine [6:00] yourself in the same [6:02] situation Hell House LLC is actually the [6:05] first part of a series of films that [6:07] delve deeper into the Mysteries that the [6:09] incident in this movie kicked off I'm [6:12] honestly kind of cynical when it comes [6:14] to found footage horror ever since the [6:16] first Paranormal Activity blew up since [6:19] then there's been a slew of terrible [6:20] movies made on a low budget that didn't [6:23] exactly make the sub genre respectable [6:25] but it's a good thing movies like this [6:27] exist to remind us all that hope isn't [6:31] lost 2020 was a horrible time it was a [6:34] pretty messed up thing that we can all [6:37] agree give us all Collective trauma [6:39] about being isolated lucky for us we [6:41] live in the Golden Age of Technology [6:43] where the internet brings people closer [6:46] together the internet became a Haven for [6:48] everyone who wanted an escape from [6:50] reality or to just be in touch with the [6:52] people they love it became the primary [6:54] means of communication so it didn't take [6:56] long before people started coming up [6:58] with ideas about how go posts can haunt [7:00] us through the internet found footage [7:02] works really well when it comes to [ __ ] [7:05] because it adds that sense of realism [7:07] which makes you feel like this could [7:09] happen to you or like it could happen to [7:11] anyone you know but what if there was a [7:13] found footage movie that made you feel [7:15] like you yourself is a part of the whole [7:18] thing [7:21] [Music] [7:35] [Music] [7:40] okay so I'm a sucker for techno horror [7:43] because like a lot of people my age or [7:45] just like a lot of people in general I'm [7:48] chronically online I know there were [7:50] tons of more problematic and actually [7:52] scary stuff on the internet than ghosts [7:55] but this one still really bothers me I [7:58] like going on video calls with friends [8:00] but when you start bringing a ghost in [8:02] that equation you know you know it's [8:04] bound to get creepy that's exactly what [8:07] happens in the 2020 film host in all [8:09] fairness the characters in this movie [8:10] had it all coming when they tried to do [8:12] a sance online simply because they were [8:14] bored like who does that there's [8:16] literally a million other ways to use [8:18] the internet when you're bored as [8:20] expected all hell Let's Lose once these [8:23] people unwittingly summon a demon who [8:25] just [ __ ] everyone up this movie Just [8:27] Hits all the right nose when it comes to [8:29] cares and actually comes up with [8:31] something that is both fun and [8:32] interesting there's something a little [8:34] cathartic about everyone getting what's [8:36] coming to them when they intentionally [8:38] [ __ ] around with demons and [ __ ] the [8:40] best part about this movie is knowing [8:42] that it was all filmed remotely so [8:44] everyone kind of had to set up their own [8:46] props and practical effects at home plus [8:49] it really was filmed through Zoom but [8:51] you know what the scariest part of this [8:52] movie is the scariest part of this movie [8:55] is how one by one everyone in the zoom [8:57] call was getting picked off and and then [8:59] you slowly realize aren't you kind of a [9:02] part of the zoom call [9:06] too there is still lots of scary movies [9:09] out there that you need to see I just [9:11] want to give a special mention to these [9:13] movies that scared me but didn't quite [9:15] stick The Landing first up I got to [9:18] mention sinister sinister was considered [9:20] the scariest movie of all time according [9:22] to science and I can agree with that to [9:24] an extent the first half of this movie [9:28] was a master class in horror [9:30] it was incredibly disturbing that [9:32] opening sequence of a family slowly [9:34] getting hanged from a tree that's the [9:35] stuff of nightmares it all kind of fell [9:38] apart when they tried to [9:43] overexplained don't exactly look scary [9:46] even the evil Dy at the center of the [9:49] all doesn't look scary at all I mean [9:51] look at him you can't expect me to [9:52] believe that this is some ancient demon [9:55] but that said this movie was really [9:57] scary until it wasn't last I want to [10:00] mention skin Marine I don't want to [10:02] dwell too much on this movie since I [10:04] plan on making a video about it in the [10:06] future but yeah this movie was pretty [10:08] scary to me it's one of those movies [10:10] that you either get or you don't it [10:13] appeals to a certain kind of fear that I [10:15] feel only a select group of people have [10:18] experienced firsthand that very quiet [10:21] Lial sort of fear it's like one long [10:24] nightmare that feels oddly familiar [10:30] I hope you found these movies [10:31] interesting and I hope you check them [10:33] out these are good horror movies and [10:35] they're actually pretty scary thanks for [10:37] watching everyone I hope you enjoyed the [10:39] video all right I'm out
