In today's video, [0:09] we will be ranking every spec on a giant [0:12] tier list from very easy to very hard. [0:14] We aren't looking at prolevel play here. [0:16] We're focusing strictly on skill floors, [0:18] how quickly the average player can pick [0:20] up a spec with zero experience and start [0:21] climbing the ladder. But look, even if [0:23] you pick the easiest spec on this list, [0:25] Midnight Season 1 will be moving fast. [0:27] Right now, Skillcap members are already [0:29] getting a massive head start. Brand new [0:31] PvP courses are already live on our [0:33] website. If you want that [1:12] same head start, check out the link [1:13] below and get access today with a [1:15] special discount code. With that in [1:17] mind, we will start off by taking a look [1:18] at the easiest melee to play in [1:20] Midnight. First up, we have Fury Warrior [1:22] being a slightly easier choice compared [1:24] to Arms. Midnight pruned away onslaught [1:26] from this spec, but did pick up Rend in [1:28] the process, which means slightly more [1:30] maintenance overall, but still a pretty [1:31] simple rotation. And thanks to some [1:33] other changes to the Fury Tree combined [1:35] with mobility nerfs to other classes, it [1:37] should be easier to maintain [1:38] slaughterhouse stacks. As long as you [1:40] can stay on target and slam your [1:41] rotation, you're doing something right. [1:43] Speaking of slamming, arms will be one [1:44] of the easiest melee, too, but will [1:46] require a bit of tuning early on. [1:48] Rotationally, the spec hasn't changed [1:50] too much, and all of your damage is [1:52] going to come from mortal strike, rend, [1:53] overpower, and now slam. There's a [1:55] chance you won't even play ignore pain [1:57] anymore since it has a 20 second cool [1:59] down. Next up is Rhett Paladin, which [2:01] might not be a surprise to some of you [2:02] regular viewers. Like most specs on this [2:04] list, Rhett got a simplified rotation [2:06] going into Midnight with Hammer of [2:07] Wrath, now replacing Judgment During [2:09] Wings, and with Final Reckoning being [2:11] baked into execution sentence. Just like [2:13] the past, the hardest part of playing [2:14] Rhett will be managing utility, [2:16] including your blessings and lay on [2:17] hands. But with a very simple rotation [2:19] and a beefy defensive kit, this spec is [2:21] still solid for any beginner. Moving on, [2:23] let's talk about DK. Even though Unholy [2:26] got a pretty significant rework in [2:27] Midnight, it does have a simpler [2:29] rotation. Instead of managing festering [2:30] wounds, you now have lesser ghouls. [2:32] However, they are functionally the same [2:34] thing. In Midnight, it's now easier to [2:36] keep up diseases since they are spread [2:38] automatically with Scourge Strike, and [2:39] damage is a bit more passive since it is [2:41] significantly tied [music] into pets who [2:43] can DPS for you. As far as Frost is [2:45] concerned, this spec is pretty simple [2:47] rotationally, as most of your damage [2:49] comes from three buttons. The main [2:51] challenge is being able to consistently [2:52] set up kills on your own. It's still one [2:54] of the most scripted specs in PvP. Now, [2:56] with all this in mind, there is still a [2:58] fair amount of skill expression with DK [3:00] at a high level, especially with spell [3:01] warden, which gives the class some [3:03] muchneeded utility. So, for now, we're [3:05] going to put Fury in the very easy tier [3:07] with red arms and our two DK specs being [3:10] a tier below. Moving on, most Melee will [3:12] fall into the moderate difficulty tier. [3:14] These are specs that might be more [3:16] complicated rotationally or require a [3:18] bit more game knowledge to play well. [3:19] Now, this might sound like a complete [3:20] shock to some people, [music] but we're [3:22] actually bumping up Subrogue to the [3:24] moderate difficulty tier for Midnight. [3:25] Historically, this spec was a bit [3:27] challenging since you needed to juggle [3:29] stun DRS while playing around the [3:31] cooldown reduction of Shadow Dance. But [3:33] now with a static 20- second cooldown on [3:34] dance, the reduction of the diminishing [3:36] return timer, and being limited to two [3:38] cheap shots, Subrogue is the most face [3:40] roll it's ever been. You don't even have [3:42] rupture to maintain. Stun timing and CC [3:44] will still matter, but the spec sort of [3:46] plays itself. Now, when it comes to [3:48] assassination, this spec is still quite [3:50] maintenanceheavy, but remains a good [3:52] entry point to the rogue [music] class. [3:53] Asa lost its AoE silence, but can now [3:56] spread bleeds easily with Crimson [3:57] Tempest. For the most part, you're still [3:59] going to focus on keeping up Garrett and [4:01] Rupture while pressing kidneyshot on [4:03] cooldown. The next spec in the moderate [4:04] difficulty tier is Windalker Monk. Over [4:06] the past few years, this spec has become [4:08] more of a brawler melee and got a few [4:10] redesigns in Midnight Centering around [4:12] cooldowns. Storm Earth, and Fire was [4:14] replaced by Zenith, which triggers the [4:16] new Apex talent, Tigerey Brew, for [4:18] additional damage. What this means is [4:19] that you now have even more kill [4:21] potential as long as you consistently [4:23] line everything up. As far as Havoc [4:25] Demon Hunter is concerned, this spec [4:26] hasn't changed too much rotationally. [4:28] However, the spec did lose both fell [4:30] eruption as a range stun and netherwalk [4:32] as an emergency defensive. Blur was also [4:35] reworked to provide damage reduction [4:36] instead of dodge. Overall, DH will [4:38] probably feel a bit more fragile while [4:40] still having a relatively clunky burst [4:42] sequence. All these melee that we just [4:44] covered will be going into the moderate [4:45] difficulty tier. But now, let's talk [4:47] about some of the more challenging specs [4:49] to play. Starting with Outlaw Rogue. [4:51] Historically, this has been one of the [4:52] most APM intensive specs to play in PvP [4:55] thanks to its multiple cooldown [4:56] reduction mechanics. While Blizzard did [4:58] make Outlaw slightly easier with the [4:59] change to roll the bones, it's still [5:01] going to be a challenge for most [5:02] players. Survival Hunter is also going [5:04] to remain a bit more difficult compared [5:06] to melee. This spec was pruned quite a [5:08] bit with explosive shot, flanking [5:10] strike, and even kill shot removed from [5:11] its rotation. However, buff management [5:13] is still going to be extremely important [5:15] thanks to tip the spear. And as always, [5:17] part of the difficulty of playing this [5:18] spec is knowing when and how to weave in [5:20] and out of melee range. And in Midnight, [5:22] we definitely think Enhancement Shaman [5:24] will be one of the more challenging [5:25] specs to play. Enhance has a pretty [5:27] complex rotation as Totemic is now [5:29] highly reactive due to a new talent [5:31] called Elemental Tempo. And while [5:32] Enhance is known for its massive burst [5:34] windows, you really need to have maximum [5:36] uptime during your offensives. Dropping [5:38] your wind condition will really set you [5:39] back. And that's not to mention all the [5:41] other utility tasks you're expected to [5:43] do at the same time. As far as the [5:45] hardest melee in the game, that award [5:46] still goes to feral druid. Even though [5:48] blood talons and adaptive swarm were [5:50] removed from the game, the spec still [5:52] requires an absurd amount of [5:53] multitasking. Whether it's stunning, [5:54] cycloning, rooting, refreshing bleeds, [5:56] you name it, you always feel like there [5:58] is more you could do, especially after a [6:01] change to the forest walk talent on the [6:02] druid tree, which will make it extra [6:04] important to keep regrowth rolling on [6:06] yourself. So yeah, there is still a lot [6:08] you need to micromanage as a feral [6:10] druid. Anyway, we think these four specs [6:12] will be the hardest to play in Midnight [6:13] Season 1. Now, it's time to look at [6:15] range DPS. Starting with what might be [6:17] the easiest spec in the game. Surprise, [6:19] surprise, it's Beast Mastery Hunter, [6:21] which is actually easier to play in [6:23] Midnight. The expansion removed the need [6:24] to manage barb shot stacks while making [6:27] Beastial Wrath a static 30-second cool [6:29] down. And in case you have been out of [6:30] the loop, hunters are actually pretty [6:32] tanky these days. As far as marks is [6:34] concerned, you could make an argument [6:35] that this spec is a bit more frustrating [6:36] to play in midnight since aimed shot has [6:38] a ridiculously long cast time. [music] [6:40] However, the spec has an even simpler [6:42] damage rotation in midnight and has [6:44] ridiculous pressure during cooldown [6:45] windows. You will be the target in so [6:47] many matchups, but it's still possible [6:49] to get most of your damage off since [6:50] many specs lost some micro CC. We also [6:53] think both evoker specs belong in the [6:55] easy category for range DPS. Devastation [6:57] is very simple damage-wise since all you [6:59] need to do is burn your two charge [7:01] spells and then spam disintegrate all [7:03] game. Evoker is also still relatively [7:05] tanky, especially against melee thanks [7:07] to having near unlimited mobility. And [7:09] since renewing blaze now automatically [7:11] procs off obsidian scales, removing a [7:13] bit of defensive skill expression from [7:14] the spec. We're also going to put the [7:16] new devourer demon hunter in the easy [7:19] category. Although it is technically a [7:21] caster, it's not really prone to [7:22] interrupts, especially with collapsing [7:24] star, which is unkickable with a PvP [7:26] talent. [music] Even though demon [7:27] hunters have some utility, you're more [7:29] or less a one-shot damage bot as this [7:31] spec with the added bonus of having a [7:33] ranged stun, [music] which definitely [7:34] comes in handy. Anyway, these specs will [7:36] represent the easiest and best options [7:38] for beginners at the start of midnight. [7:40] Now, just like melee, most range DPS [7:42] will fall in the moderately difficult [7:44] category. This is where you will find a [7:45] spec like balance druid. Boomies have a [7:48] pretty simple rotation and crazy [7:49] impactful cooldowns. Of course, the main [7:51] learning curve of the spec is still all [7:53] of the non-damage responsibilities like [7:55] using cyclone effectively and knowing [7:57] when it's time to kite or tank damage in [7:59] bear form. We also think that at least [8:01] two out of the three mage specs are [8:02] moderately difficult. The mage class [8:04] overall did suffer a little bit [8:06] defensively going into midnight, having [8:08] worse damage mitigation and slightly [8:10] nerfed mobility. However, both frost and [8:12] fire are a bit easier rotationally, and [8:14] mages overall are still a nightmare to [8:16] deal with for most melee. Arcane is [8:18] still the hardest mage spec since it not [8:20] only has the worst defensive kit without [8:22] cauterize or cold snap, but also since [8:24] Arcane Surge continues to be super [8:26] clunky in some lobbies. If you're not [8:28] good at juking, you're not going to have [8:29] a good time [music] playing this spec. [8:31] And even though shadow priest is another [8:33] spec which does require a bit of juking, [8:34] it is still an absolute tank in arena. [8:36] [music] And even though the spec is [8:38] prone to interrupts, it continues to [8:39] manage them quite well with dispel magic [8:41] and flash heal, which offers 10% damage [8:44] reduction to assist in bulking [music] [8:45] up. Last expansion, we saw shadow [8:47] perform really well at low MMR, and we [8:49] think the same will be true in Midnight. [8:50] We also think elemental shaman deserves [8:52] a moderate difficulty ranking. The Ellie [8:54] Shaman gameplay loop has changed [8:56] considerably, and instead of primordial [8:57] wave, you now have Voltaic Blaze, which [9:00] is basically like an all-in-one AoE [9:02] flame shock and earth shock. [9:03] Rotationally, this spec is still pretty [9:05] easy, but it is a shaman at the end of [9:07] the day, which means playing goalie for [9:08] your team. Now, we need to talk about [9:10] Warlock. You could argue that both Demo [9:12] and Destro got slightly easier in [9:14] Midnight. Desterro lost Shadow Burn as a [9:16] rotational spell and is more or less the [9:18] same spec as before, spreading wither, [9:20] using Confl, [9:22] and then trying to set up a double coils [9:24] into double [music] chaos bowl. Demo, on [9:26] the other hand, still needs to hard cast [9:27] quite a bit, but got some help with a [9:29] mini rework as dread stalkers are once [9:31] again instant. [music] Tyrant was also [9:33] changed and no longer requires [9:34] snapshotting, but will now require you [9:36] to summon a bunch of demons once it's [9:38] active. Now, for better or worse, [9:39] Affliction is likely the hardest caster [9:41] going into season 1. Not only does this [9:43] spec require a ton of hard casting with [9:45] the ability to stack UA like its Legion [9:47] 2.0, but Athle has a second spell school [9:51] to work with. If you get kicked, you [9:52] can't do anything. Anyway, here is what [9:54] we expect difficulty to look like for [9:56] the remaining range DPS in [music] [9:58] Midnight Season 1. Finally, let's talk [10:00] about healers. a role that was in [10:02] drastic need of a difficulty shift. [10:04] Representing one of the easiest healers [10:06] to play is holy paladin, which we still [10:07] think is one of the best entry points [10:09] into this role. The spec is still based [10:11] around a repetitive builder spender [10:13] system, but got quite a few quality of [10:15] life improvements on the cooldown end [10:17] this time around. Wings now [10:18] automatically procs either tiers [10:20] deliverance or hand of divinity [10:21] depending on your build. While aura [10:22] mastery automatically shoots out a [10:24] divine toll, so as one of the [10:26] cooldownbased healers, you should notice [10:28] an easier time pressing your CDs. [10:30] Another great choice for beginners is [10:31] Holy Priest, which depending on your [10:33] build, could actually be a threebutton [10:35] spec. That's right, with the ultimate [10:36] serenity talent, you don't even have [10:38] sanctify. Blizzard also made it much [10:41] easier to play Oracle, making the hero [10:43] spec much more passive. So yeah, holy [10:45] priest is still a solid option, [10:47] especially if tuning is right. These two [10:49] healers should feel the easiest for most [10:51] players in season 1. Now, if you want to [10:53] play a more interactive healer, there [10:54] are a ton of great options in the [10:56] moderate difficulty tier. Blizzard made [10:58] some changes to disc priest and [music] [10:59] midnight aimed at making your rotation a [11:01] bit simpler and more fluid. Instead of [11:03] needing to minmax a bunch of modifiers, [11:05] more power was put into baseline spells. [11:07] This spec requires a bit of [11:08] multitasking, however, and you'll need [11:10] to keep up dots and atonement, [11:12] especially as voidw [music] weaver. [11:13] Mistweaver monk will also land in this [11:15] middle tier. Historically, this spec has [11:17] been quite difficult because of a bunch [11:18] of maintenance. But now, Zen Spheres [11:20] will automatically proc from other [11:21] spells, and Renewing Mist got a giga [11:23] healing modifier that makes it [11:24] automatically crank on [music] the [11:26] lowest health target. Your experience [11:27] will vary drastically based on the build [11:29] you play. However, monk in general seems [11:31] easier than before. Resto Shaman should [11:34] also feel easier, too, with a slightly [11:35] watered down rotation, but here we have [11:37] to address an elephant in the room. [11:39] Shaman, at least at the time of making [11:40] this video, was struggling with healing [11:42] output. On paper, this spec should feel [11:44] easier compared to the past, especially [11:46] with the removal of earth and wall [11:47] totem, but you might need to wait until [11:49] there is some tuning to truly excel. The [11:51] last two remaining healers will be a bit [11:53] more challenging. While preservation [11:55] evoker technically has a simpler [11:56] rotation, it is now more hot focused [11:58] when playing flame shaper, so buff [12:00] management will be extra important. With [12:02] that said, the difficulty of playing [12:03] evoker will still be tied to [12:05] positioning, which has gotten both [12:06] easier and harder simultaneously. [12:08] [music] [12:08] easier in the sense that you no longer [12:10] launch yourself into the open every time [12:12] you verden embrace, but harder since you [12:14] no longer have a ranged [music] kick to [12:16] avoid CC. Resto Druid is also shaping up [12:18] to be a bit challenging in Midnight. [12:20] Even though the spec lost some key [12:21] buttons like scenarian ward, it is still [12:23] very maintenanceheavy. Keeping up life [12:25] bloom is now more important than ever [12:27] since it's effectively your burst heal [12:29] with regrowth barely moving HP bars. [12:31] You'll also need to multitask as this [12:33] spec, slowing down damage with cyclone [12:35] and finding the right moments to push [12:36] for CC. Anyway, these will be our [12:38] difficulty rankings for healers going [12:40] into season 1.
