[00:00] which one to choose, don't worry. I got you. I took one for the team. And I tried so many different online businesses under the sun, and I failed. [00:12] And I got back up again until I found one that worked for me, and that was Etsy Print on Demand. Etsy and print on demand was by far the easiest online business for me to start and find success in the quickest amount of time. [00:27] Now, will you get rich overnight? Absolutely not. However, this allowed me to quit my teaching career and move to another country after one year of [00:39] consistently putting effort into my Etsy shop. This side hustle quite literally changed my life and I'm forever grateful for it. And that is why I like to teach others how to do the same. So, in this video, I'm going to share with you a [00:54] stepbystep free tutorial on how to start Etsy print on demand. It's going to be you can do it next to me. This is the most painful part of the journey, the [01:08] setup process, okay? And I had to do it on my own. So, I'm making sure that it's pretty much going to be a handholding experience for you click by click the best that I can so that you can breeze through this annoying part of the [01:23] business and then be able to get into the fun part where it's designing and listing and hopefully making sales. And if you're new here, let me introduce myself really quick. My name is Jenny. Some of you might know me as Jenny from [01:36] the shop over on Tik Tok or it's Jenny from the shop over on Instagram where I provide a lot of short form content and tips on Etsy, print on demand, and other online business related things. You can go ahead and find me over there. But [01:50] right here on my channel is where you're going to find all of the long form in-depth tutorials to help you start and scale your Etsy businesses. I'm so happy you're here because this means that you're trying to better your life and I [02:04] this introduction. I first want to quickly explain what print on demand is if you're completely new here. So, everything I'm about to explain, you're [02:16] going to see in this video as well. The first thing we do is we choose a niche that we want to design in. Once you have a niche that you know is in demand, then we're going to start designing. Make some designs that go along with this [02:30] niche. Then you find a product within Printify. I will show you. It's the printing company. You place that design on the product within Printify. And then you list that product onto Etsy. Just a picture of it. You don't have to have [02:45] the product in hand. It's just a picture of it, which I'll also show you how to do. You list that on Etsy. When someone purchases that product, it's synced up with Printify, who will print the design onto that product, package it up really [03:00] nicely, and ship it to your customer for you. So, the only thing you're really doing is making sure that your niches are in demand, making nice designs, listing them to Etsy, and sitting back and collecting that money. This has [03:15] freed up so much of my time because I actually started an Etsy shop like 13 years ago and I was selling paintings and handmade jewelry and when I would get an order I would have to package it up myself or make the product if it [03:30] wasn't made yet, go to the post office and then aside from that I was also purchasing a bunch of inventory that never ended up selling. So I wasted a bunch of money. So, the cool thing about this is with Printify, you don't have to [03:43] pay for anything until you make that sale. So, you're not buying small, medium, large, extra large, 2X of a shirt hoping that all of these sizes sell. You're not wasting your time making the products. You're not wasting [03:57] your time going to the post office every day to ship out the products. You're not wasting money on packaging. It's just literally like a magical dream come true. Because of this, I was able to move abroad to Greece. I didn't need to [04:11] think about bringing a t-shirt machine or all the materials and waste my time. Now I spend time with my family exploring and doing whatever I want while I make sales in the background. Okay, so first we're coming to Etsy and [04:24] you're going to come over here to sign in. And then right here, if you don't already have an Etsy shop, you're going to click register. You're going to put in your email address, your first name, and a password. And that fast. I have an [04:40] account on Etsy. I'm not a seller yet, though, and I'm going to show you how to do that next. So, you come up here to this circle where it says your account, and you're going to come right down here to sell on Etsy, and we're going to [04:54] click get started. Let's do this. You can choose any of these. For me, I already have an Etsy shop, so I'm going to put this one. Next. All right. Start your shop. Okay. You're going to fill out these shop preferences [05:10] here. Save and continue. Now, you're going to name your shop. People get caught up on this. Do not let this take up too much of your time. You can always change it later. All right. So, save and continue. Then, for tax purposes, you're [05:26] going to choose which one is best for you. And then you're going to fill out all of this information here. A lot of people get nervous with this. Trust me, I've been on Etsy for over a decade. I have multiple shops. I've never had an [05:40] issue with giving them my social security number. So, just from that experience, I hope that that gives you some ease. So, you're going to fill out all of this and then save and continue. Okay. The next thing you need to do to [05:52] get paid is to connect your account here. This is another thing people are weary about. I've done this a bunch of times and it's been okay and it's like the only way for you to get paid is by doing this. Etsy uses this app to [06:06] connect to your bank account. So, we're going to continue here and then you can choose which one you would like to do. I'm going to go with the instant option. Then you're going to choose the bank of where your bank account is. Continue to [06:20] log in to your bank account. Okay. So, I wasn't able to obviously share my screen for all of that, but basically it had me log into my bank account and then an agreement appeared and I had to click that I agree to it to connect to Etsy [06:37] and then I chose the account that I wanted it to be synced up to and then now it's right here connected via Plaid. Now, I'm going to do save and continue. Now, we're going to verify our identity in just a few steps. So, first you do [06:52] have to take a photo of your ID. You're also going to pose for a selfie. And then once your identity is verified, you'll be able to continue opening your shop. So, in order to do this, we're going to continue here. I'm just going [07:07] to do the express way. Choose this option. Begin verifying. So, first you're going to take a photo of your ID. Oh, hey. [laughter] Um, I'm going to allow this time and I'm about to hold my license up to the [07:24] camera and then I'm going to click take photo. Now, same thing, but for the back of the ID. All right, now we're going to take a selfie. Totally just kidding. Okay, let's be real here. All right, my identity has been verified. I am in fact [07:40] a real person. Continue. Shop setup. All right, so Etsy does have a onetime setup fee for $29. And then every listing you put up will be 20 cents per listing. [07:53] There are also transaction fees and payment processing fees. All of these fees, and it sounds like a lot, but I'm here to tell you that you still can make money from this. It's way better than having a brickandmortar store where you [08:07] are spending all your time in that building and you're also paying rent for it and you're also paying for inventory. It's also better than other platforms that make you pay at least $29 a month. This is just the one time that you have [08:22] to do this. Okay? So, just keep all of that in mind. I have read and understood these fees. And then now I have to go confirm at my email. All right. So, here's the verification email. Continue. Shop setup. Confirm account. Hooray. [08:38] Okay. So, the most annoying part of this tutorial is over. Congratulations. So, right here, this little icon is your shop manager. You're going to click this and you are going to add your credit card. This will be build for like the [08:53] all of the listing fees and transaction fees that I mentioned when you make a sale. And then there is the onetime $29 that is due right now. And I'm going to do this for you guys. I'm going to spend $29 right now for this setup for you [09:08] guys. Okay? and I hope that you do it, too, because this $29 could literally change your life. All right, review setup fee and continue. My honest opinion is that you do not have to do this. So, I'm going to just put this. If [09:23] you want to, you totally can. I don't do this though, and my shops are fine. Save and continue. Okay. And then we have to do this just to keep your shop safe. So, messages. plug in your phone number for them to send the code. And then you're [09:41] going to enter the verification code that was sent to your phone number. And number codes on your screen. I can't share mine obviously, but you're going [09:53] to click save to device. This way, if you're ever locked out of your shop, you can use one of these codes to get in. I've never had to use it, but it's where to find it. Save and continue. Hooray. Up and abroad is open for [10:11] business. This is exciting, guys. All right. So, we're going to go to explore your shop manager. So, this is your dashboard here, and we will be adding a listing together soon. We already have our shop name added. You can use a shop [10:27] icon, create [clears throat] a banner, share your story, upload a seller photo. I suggest you do all of these things. You can easily create a shop logo within [10:39] KD. I'm going to be jumping in KD a little bit to make designs and very quickly you can make a shop logo to add here. You can also make a shop banner to add here um right here just by clicking to share your story in this little part [10:53] here. You can answer some of these questions. You can also use chatbt to help you come up with your story and the reasons why you are selling your products and what types of products you are selling. And then I definitely [11:06] suggest uploading a seller photo of you. This helps people remember that there's a real person behind this Etsy shop. Someday you'll have a bunch of views and a bunch of visits and a bunch of orders and a bunch of revenue and it's just [11:19] going to be so exciting. Yes, you do have to file taxes on your Etsy shop. So, you might want to seek help with a tax professional to ask them your questions. That being said though, do not let the taxes and the money part [11:34] scare you away from doing this. It's all easy to figure out. Once you have your shop logo and your banner, because you don't want to skip those things, you need your shop to look presentable. I have videos on my channel showing how I [11:49] made my icon in my shop banner. You can go and watch those step by step. It's going to take you like 10 15 minutes for each of those because when you go to your shop, if it looks like this, that looks super unprofessional. You need to [12:02] definitely have your banner and logo in. But for time purposes, I think the most important thing to do is jump into the listing part with you. And if you're ever on your shop or someone else's shop and you want to get back to that [12:16] dashboard area, just go up here to shop manager. All right. So once you do all of these things, that's your homework. Pause the video. Do all of these things. Do not skip them. We are starting a successful business and we're doing [12:29] things right. I promise you these things are not hard. You just need to do them. And I will link in the description of this video the videos that will help you make your logo and your banner. So, go watch that right now and then come back [12:43] and do this next part where we will be adding a listing. But before we add the listing, what we need to do is go to Etsy. So, the first thing you're going to do is come to Etsy and we're going to pick a niche. So, what you could do is [12:58] just type in women's shirts and kind of browse and get a feel for what is selling on the platform. You'll take a look at these best seller badges and the popular nail badges. Those are good indicators that these things are [13:12] selling. You do not want to copy from these sellers. You will get copyright trademark infringement and your shop could get shut down. So, keep that in mind as we browse. We're only taking inspiration from what is selling so that [13:25] you don't get in trouble. Again, we're building a long-term successful Etsy shop. So, we're going to start off doing things right. Often, I see florals doing really well, especially around this time. Cat shirts do really well. There [13:41] are truly so many niches that you could get into. the teaching niche, the nurse niche, hiking, bachelorettees, weddings, faith-based shirts, funny shirts, [13:53] workout shirts. The ideas are really truly endless. And I will tell you, my shops have hundreds of niches in them. I choose to add a bunch of different niches. For me, the more fishing poles, the more fish. Some people choose to [14:07] just pick one niche, and that's okay. They are successful, too. But this is just how I have done it and what's worked for me. But I will say it's best to pick one to three niches when you're getting started and really dive into [14:20] those first and get a good grasp on how to do this. So let's just say for this video we are going to choose I'm going to do travel shirts since my this shop is up and abroad. And I like to take a look again like I said at what is [14:35] selling. And there's a little trick to find all of the best sellers. Once you searched your niche, you're going to go to show filters, Etsy's best star seller, [14:50] and then up here in the URL, we're going to erase star and substitute it with the word best. [15:03] Now we can see a lot of the best sellers and browse and get inspiration for our own shirts. And don't get overwhelmed by designs. Do you see this shirt right here? It's very, very simple. It's just a funny saying in a simple font. And it [15:19] has 44 monthly sales. So, keeping it simple is okay, especially in the beginning. Here's another one. Queen of the camper. It sold 96 times this month. So now where I'm going to take you is into KD. KD is my go-to design platform. [15:37] And if you want to give it a try for free, I will provide a link in the want to upgrade your account, make sure to use code Jenny Shop YT in all caps so [15:50] that you can get 25% off of any of the KD plans. I love KD especially because they offer a bunch of different templates that you can just tweak in a [16:02] matter of seconds to make it your own design. This is very good especially for new sellers, but this site is also great for seasoned sellers and graphic [16:14] designers as well. I'm going to come up to the search and let's see. I'm going to type in travel t-shirt design and see what they have. Wow, look at this. So, a bunch of great t-shirt templates already here for us. I'm actually already [16:29] envisioning what I want to do here. And I'm going to say instead of adventure awaits, I'm going to say Greece awaits. And I'm going to change this to say [16:44] seize the day. Get it? Okay. And then, okay, I just looked up the grease latitude cuz I like this idea. And I'm going to substitute these [16:58] with the ones that I found. Okay, that looks great. So, that fast, I have a design ready for me. So now what [17:10] I'm going to do is export this and make sure that I have removed the background because we want it to be a transparent background so that this white box doesn't show up on the product that we are placing it on. All right, so now [17:25] we're coming to Printify. This is the printing company that I use to print, package, and ship all of my print on demand products. I've been using them for the past 5 years. Amazing quality. I have ordered samples myself and then I [17:39] also have thousands of five-star reviews. If you don't have a Printify account yet, in the description below, you can sign up for free with the link provided. Once you are in Printify, before we place that design onto a [17:53] product, we need to connect our Etsy shop to Printify, which is very easy to do. right here, you're going to choose connect to Etsy. And it takes you right [18:05] into your Etsy shop where you can grant the access for them to sync together. Now we're connected. Let's make some sales. So, let's publish our products. On the toolbar here, you can come over to catalog. These are all of the [18:21] different types of products they have to offer. I have countless videos on my YouTube channel. I have sampled many of these products and I make videos and tutorials showing how to sell them and how they are in real life. So, make sure [18:34] to go ahead and watch those videos. But today, we're specifically going to make a sweatshirt. My go-to sweatshirt I will show you. It's a unisex adult unisex. [18:46] to do sweatshirts. And I will say I mostly sell t-shirts and sweatshirts in my shops. Sweatshirts are my number one sellers. So I like the [19:00] Gilden 18,000 here. We're going to click in. Printify also offers embroidery which is huge. Embroidery products sell really well on Etsy. Again, I have videos teaching about how to use this with Printify. But today we're doing [19:16] DTG. This is direct to garment printing. Basically, the design is printed into the sweatshirt. The ink kind of goes into the sweatshirt, so it's not going to peel off, and it's a really great quality. So, I like to choose manually [19:31] here. And any of these are really, really great. A lot of my products are synced up to Swift POD and Monster. So, I'm going to choose Swift POD today. [19:43] Start designing. Now, I want to show you over here, you can select variants and choose any of these colors and however many colors you would like to add to your listing as well. Today, I'm just going to go with white. I feel like my [19:57] design will look really well on white. It's kind of like those grease colors, blue and white. And I'm going to come right over here to upload my device and I'm going to pull in that design. All right. And then I'm going to bring my [20:11] design up. And it's always always important to preview it up here to make sure that it looks nice. All right. So, this is what it would look like. This is what it would look like on a [20:25] model. And then I'm going to save product. And now I can either fill out the listing details here or within my Etsy shop. For [20:37] whatever reason, I personally like to fill it out within my Etsy shop. I will be choosing this shipping method. So, I'm going to click publish. And this is going to go to my Etsy shop. We are not even halfway finished the listing yet, [20:51] though. So, make sure when you click publish here that you still have about 10 minutes or so to sit down and complete the listing within your Etsy shop. So, publish. All right. Once it switches over to [21:04] publish, it takes about a minute or so. You can click these three dots here and see in store. So here is my first item. I'm going to click into this and we are [21:17] going to edit it here. Now we have to give it a title. Now this is important. You can't just type in Greece awaits. No one will find your product if you're [21:30] giving it names like this or sees the day. No one is going to find your product. Okay. The way the titles and tags work is when people go to Etsy [21:42] like I showed you earlier and I typed in travel shirts. If I use the word travel shirts in my titles and tags, then my listing should appear somewhere within the searches of travel shirts. If I type in grease shirts, if I have the keywords [21:59] grease shirts in my titles and tags, then my grease shirt should appear here as well. So, I hope that makes sense. My favorite way to find good SEO, SEO [22:11] titles and tags. My favorite way to find that is to browse what other best sellers are using because if they're best sellers and that means that they [22:23] have good SEO as well. So again, I like to do that little show filters, Etsy best, star seller trick where I change up here [22:35] to best. And make sure you're within the niche that your product is in as well. these stats beneath this and you're probably not seeing that on yours. This [22:49] is a Chrome extension that I use. It's called Everbee. It appears as a toolbar as well on the side of my Etsy shop and I'm able to see how well these listings are selling. I can come over here, click the revenue. Some of these listings are [23:03] bringing in these amounts of revenue monthly. Okay, that's how life-changing this is. By the way, I do have these listings blurred out due to respect of these shop owners, but you can see all of these stats for yourself to see which [23:18] ones are selling the best and how you can take inspiration from those to make your own products. And you can try Everbe for free with the link in my description below. But the other part of Everbe is these little stats here. And [23:32] it's just super helpful to weed through all the listings to find the best ones. And you might be saying, "Well, yours is a Greece one. Like, why are you choosing [23:44] And I'm going to click right here to make this bigger. This title, I can take this title, copy it, come over to my listing, [24:00] and paste it. But now, instead of New York, I'm going to put Greece. So, everywhere I see New York, I'm substituting it with Greece. This is how [24:12] you find and have bestseller SEO. You find what's working for other people. You take out the keywords that don't work for yours and substitute it with the ones that relate to your listing. Another thing we can do, let's say [24:27] Greece, I'm going to do Europe cuz Europe sweatshirt. Another thing I like to do with my Everbe is I click here analyze listing and then I'm able to scroll down to see the tags that they are using and if they are good, if they [24:42] have good volume and competition and a good keyword score, then I will copy their tags here and I will come back and within my listing I scroll down [24:58] to tags and I paste them here. Again, if there's anything that doesn't match yours, take it out. Or if you think you might have a better one, erase one that you don't think is as good and replace it with one that is. You don't have to [25:12] over complicate the SEO, but it needs to match what your product is so that buyers can find it when they're searching those keywords. Again, I have more in-depth tutorials on how to do that on my YouTube channel. The next [25:26] thing is the mockup photo. We do not want to use the Printify ones. What I like to do is I go to Etsy. I type in the search the brand of the product and [25:39] then mockup. And then you can purchase any of these and download it to your desktop. And then back into KD, I pull that mockup photo in. So, I've pulled it [25:52] in and I'm going to stretch it to fit. And now I'm going to bring my design on top. And I'm going to make this a little [26:08] bit bigger and turn it a little bit. I'm also going to come over here to the opacity and bring this down a little bit so that it looks like it's printed into the sweatshirt. When it's up too high, it looks fake. And also, your customer [26:24] is going to be annoyed that it's not this vibrant when they receive it. So, I like to bring it down a bit to where it looks like it's printed in. And then I'm going to export this as a JPEG download. And then I'm coming here and adding a [26:40] photo. And you can add up to 20 photos and one video. Do you need 20 photos? Absolutely not. I would say five to 10 is a good range. I also like to add a sizing chart card, which you can also get from Etsy. So you would come to the [26:56] search and type in Gilden or whatever the product is 18,000 size chart and you find one and you can purchase one to use over and over again [27:09] in your listings. You can add other cards like thank you for shopping with us or reach out if you have any questions or if you're offering a bunch of different colors. Maybe you have a photo card with a bunch of different [27:22] color options on it, which you can also purchase from Etsy. And I'm now going to delete the Printify one. And the main one is going to be the one that I just made. Here is the thumbnail. I have adjusted it a little bit so that it's [27:35] zoomed in. The design is up close and personal to the buyer's face. You can also make a video within KD to add to your listing. Stay on the lookout. In [27:47] the next couple weeks, I'm going to be providing a tutorial on how to do this within KD. And now, in your description, the first couple sentences, you want it to describe your product. So, I like to use chat GBT for this. You want it to be [28:01] packed with keywords that people might be using. So, there's a lot of Greece, there's Mediterranean, there's white sweatshirt, and it also just gives the buyer a little bit more of a feeling that goes along with the sweatshirt. And [28:15] then I don't suggest leaving all of this. I think it's best to make some bullet points. So again, I'm going to actually copy this and bring it into chatubt and have chatubt make this into a more reader friendly, customerfriendly [28:30] here. And then you can add other things in as well like reach out to me if you want a different variation or if you want to add personalization. You can add [28:42] whatever you want the buyer to know in your description here. And then, like I said earlier, adding more photo cards here explaining to the customer anything else you would like them to know. I talk about adding personalization in a lot of [28:55] my other videos on this channel, so be sure to go check those out as well. I am changing my prices right now. [29:12] These are all the skew numbers. Do not change these. This is how the product is synced up to Printify. So when you get an order, it will automatically be synced up to Printify for them to print, package, and ship it. Now, we need to [29:25] click into here. This is important. So, it is a physical item. We're going to put another [clears throat] company or person because Printify is making it. It's a finished product, but it is made to order. And then we're going to add [29:38] the production partner here. So, we're typing in Printify. About the production partner. They print, package, and ship the product for me. They are in Wilmington, Delaware, United States of America. There's a few different [29:53] partner? I don't have the technical ability or equipment to make it entirely by myself. What is your role in the design process? You're going to choose [30:06] which one is best for you. I'm choosing this one. Choose this as long as you are tweaking your designs. You can't just purchase a design. You can't just take one of the templates from KD and not change it at all. You have to have a [30:20] hand in the design process. And then here, I like to do they do everything for me. Save. Done. All right. So, now that's connected. The category is sweatshirts. I don't really fill these out. You can [30:36] if you want to. Here are my tags from earlier. me. Made to order. I chose the shipping option within Printify. [30:53] Now, you can keep this if you want to. I choose not to allow returns and exchanges because these are made to order products. So, if someone purchases it and they don't want it anymore and they want to return it, it's not coming [31:06] money back, your money out of pocket. So, I actually changed this to I don't accept returns and exchanges. You can add this to a shop section. So, I added [31:21] add it to this category here. And then you're going to publish the changes. And here is your first completed listing. If you want to edit it, there's two ways [31:35] you can do it. So, you can do it from this shop manager and you come here and you can go into edit right here or from your Etsy shop. You can get to your Etsy shop by going right over here. And you can actually click on the [31:50] listing and you can edit it this way by going into it here. So now when somebody purchases this, you will see one new order in your shop. You'll get a [32:02] notification up here and right here you will have a notification of one or hopefully 100 someday. You'll click onto your orders and it will show up right here the order. And then also within Printify, [32:18] you will go to your orders here and the order will show up right here and you can click into it and double check that it's all synced up and sometimes you'll have to click approve and you can approve it. Once Printify [32:34] ships it out, then you'll notice that it disappears from this order section. It was sent out. The only orders you will see are the ones that are in process at the moment. So how the payment works basically you will get this one new [32:46] order and at the same time printify will be taking money in order to make the product and ship it out. So for example this Gilden sweatshirt since I'm using [32:58] Swift POD is $1351 for the price of the sweatshirt and the printing and then $7.69 for the price of the shipping. So you get to basically keep the difference aside from the Etsy fees and whatnot. [33:12] Now, it's not immediate where you will get the money from Etsy. I think as a new seller, I'm not sure how long they'll hold that money from, but basically, you will eventually have the difference of this price here. And that [33:25] wraps up our full step-by-step tutorial on how to sign up on Etsy, sign up on Printify, sync the two, find a niche, make a design, apply it to a product, and get it set up and listed and ready to make some sales on Etsy. My [33:41] suggestion to you now is to repeat this process at least once a day. And it's faster you get. You are not going to become an overnight success. And you [33:54] will not find a major success story from listing only like 10 products. You really need to give this your all. You don't have to list thousands of products, but you should have a couple dozen in your shop to start to fully [34:08] test what works and what doesn't. And I will say the average Etsy seller makes their first sale 3 to four weeks in. So don't get discouraged during this time. Take this next month as a time to learn and stay consistent and stay excited. [34:24] Don't lose this exciting feeling because there is so much potential in this opportunity to change your life. Also, feel free to ask me any of your questions in the comment section below here. I'm also going to provide you with [34:38] a free Etsy shop checklist. If you're one of those people that likes to be like hands-on and checking things off, that will help you as well as you go through this video. It's free. It's in my description below. Once you get [34:52] rolling and you are making some sales, but maybe you need a little extra help or you want to make sure that you have your shop set up correctly, I also offer shop reviews. You can find out more details about those in the description [35:06] below. I hope that this video was helpful for you. Like I said earlier, this is the most painful part of the journey and you did it. So, congratulations on opening your Etsy shop, and I hope to see you again in my [35:18] comment section and over at Tik Tok and Instagram. Share with me your success stories. Ask me any of your questions. I believe in you, and you should believe in yourself and be so proud of yourself for taking this next step in your online [35:32] business journey. Thanks for being here, and I'll see you in the next video.
