> Source: [After 10 Years, I'm Starting Over](https://youtube.com/watch?v=jz_s35n5QaE)

## Summary

The creator reflects on the 10-year anniversary of starting his YouTube channel, sharing his struggles with fitness, the decision to move to a new city, and the realization that he needs to start over both physically and mentally.

### Key Points

- **Selling the House** [00:48] — Signed the contract to sell their house after 6 years, forcing a decision on renting vs buying.
- **Rent vs Buy Math** [02:53] — With 6.5% interest rates, renting is financially smarter for a short-term stay; buying would burn $1,800/month in interest alone.
- **Regret of Stopping Fitness** [04:09] — The creator regrets abandoning his fitness journey, which he started documenting 10 years ago.
- **Weight Loss History** [05:08] — Weighed 325 lbs at his heaviest, couldn't do a push-up, but later lost 90 lbs and hit a 325 bench, squat, and deadlift.
- **Setback During Kick** [08:12] — Gained back 80 lbs during his time streaming on Kick, attributing it to poor habits and alcohol on stream.
- **Embracing Vulnerability** [09:49] — Decides to document the real-time process of getting back in shape instead of waiting for a perfect success story.
- **Removing Social Media** [26:19] — Removing social media from his phone to focus, inspired by 75 Hard, which helped him previously.
- **Outgrowing Streaming** [28:02] — Feels he is outgrowing live streaming games and wants to focus on other creative projects.

live in by stopping my [snorts] fitness journey, it's insane. A lot of people this channel uh like 11 years ago, 10 years ago to document the fitness journey. I Holy
[ __ ] Tomorrow is 10 years since I made this Tomorrow is 10 years since I made this YouTube channel.
offer on our house. It's time. Right as we hit the 6-year mark. As you all. We had no idea. Last night we signed the contract signed the contract and literally yesterday, 6 years ago, we
we got the keys for this house. Dude, I remember that like it was yesterday. sign all of the paperwork because of COVID. COVID. That and then our washer and dish or
washer or dryer just got stolen or our dryer. Yeah. Yeah, somebody just like when they build these new communities, sometimes people just leave the house unlocked. So, or did they bust in the door? No, they just left the house
>> So, somebody came in and stole our dryer. On the second floor, downstairs, >> So, now we got to finally decide what What do we got to finally decide what What do you want? Get out of here. Get up. So,
now we got to decide what we really want to do. Leaning more towards renting now. I know a lot of people like people just don't get it. the best example that I can make of this right now, there's literally a place
that we looked at where you could buy it or you could rent it. It's a new house, with like some of these new communities. I've found houses with the same exact floor plans. One was a rental, one was a buy. The thing is with this move, it's
buy. The thing is with this move, it's we plan on doing it on a one to few year time frame to see if we really like Charlotte, we really like the area, really build up a lot of money and a lot of equity to
get the dream home in the in the years to come, right? Basically, it's like there there's a a fine line where it's like, okay, we're not going to stay in the house past a certain amount of time. The odds of buying a house now and in
it going above the equity threshold to even get our money back, let alone turn a profit off of it, it's actually
pretty small. And then on top of that, month to month, we would be paying month to month, we would be paying exponentially more to buy versus own. well, you're just throwing money away renting.
you're just throwing money away renting. Bro, with a 6.5% interest rate, you are Bro, with a 6.5% interest rate, you are throwing away almost as much in interest a month in the first few years in comparison to renting. It's it's
actually insane. I did the math on a place. We found a rental, $2,500 a month right down the road, the house you could buy it, right? It was $1,800 a month in interest you would burn on that house owning it. Plus you have to put money
down, plus it's your responsibilities for the upkeep. So, so we're weighing heavily on the idea of renting for now since we are not getting a dream home. Anyways, got to get some form of morning workout done
and then we got to get out and about and start looking at to some places.
>> All right. Pause the copyright real quick. If you guys ever have finally like doing something, don't stop. doing something, don't stop. The amount of regret that I constantly
live in by stopping my fitness journey, it's insane. A lot of people don't even channel uh like 11 years ago, 10 years ago to document the fitness journey. I Holy
[ __ ] Tomorrow is 10 years since I made this YouTube channel. Insane, dude. So, yeah, like at the time that I started this like at the time that I started this YouTube channel originally, I was going
to start it documenting my weight loss. Then I just started picking up a camera my experience in starting my business, and like not going to college, and I went down the the creative route, right? But growing up, I was always out of
But growing up, I was always out of shape and overweight. The peak that I actually had the balls to weigh myself was like 325 lb, but that was like not 325 lb on a solid frame. That was
like 325 lb literally unhealthy. The first time I went to a gym, I couldn't do a physical push-up. Couldn't obviously do a push-up. Couldn't obviously do a pull-up. And the first time I ever bench
press something, uh I could only bench press the bar and two 10-lb plates on each side. It It was insane. Fast forward, um I got super addicted to it. Like, I I really actually did it. When I left my
job, the way that I seen it was like, "Okay, I have more time on my plate. I need to take advantage of this. Like, I need health to be a part of my routine." And I did just that. Not only at one point did I lose 90 lb, I gained a
point did I lose 90 lb, I gained a considerable amount of body mass. And in that like 2-year time frame, I went from never working out to literally working enjoyment, because of pushing myself, because of the challenge. I ended up
because of the challenge. I ended up hitting a 325 bench, 325 deadlift, 325 squat. And I was dude, I was so proud of myself. And you know what's actually crazy about this is the whole reason I detoured from that path is I hit this
phase in like 2016, 2017, where like my streams started to do well. And I started streaming all the time, man. Um, the sleep schedule that I had, the routine that I had, I threw it all to
well, I'm making this immediate thing, and it's starting to pay off." And then, holy [ __ ] dude, once 2018 hit, my stream started to do really well, enough I got to do full-time for a period of time." I completely fell off the wagon.
Eating like [ __ ] I was constantly buying quick snacks and and quick junk food to be able to just plow down food and continue to be live because it was making me money. On top of that, one of the toxic things that I did in stream
was I would get drunk on stream. Um, and, response to people giving me money. So, it was this like horrible recipe. I was staying up some nights till literally the the crack of dawn. I got
extremely addicted to the process. I got addicted to caffeine, and I ended up gaining like 60, 70 lb back. Since then, once again, I I a period where I I finally locked in, man. I got my
eating down again. I started uh doing CrossFit. I started hiking. I actually documented some of that on this channel. One of my biggest setup videos highlight of me being at the trail in the morning, like the morning B-roll.
see what I look like. You could clearly tell like, "Oh, yeah, he was doing really good at this time frame." And once again, I got sucked back into streaming. I didn't tell a lot of people
this, but during Kick, I gained back 80 [ __ ] pounds. I don't know what it's been with me and streaming, but I have obviously allowed it to
I don't want to use the word control, but I have given in to the idea of like how easy it is. And justified a lot of shitty actions along that process. I think that's another reason why I'm really like I'm just not interested
in the live streaming side of things. Maybe it's this overall idea that streaming is tied to so many like failure points in my life, which is just so ironic. But yeah, it's tough, dude. It's It's tough because when I go to
lift weights right now, and like when I'm doing the sets, I'm like I feel it, man. Like, this is fun. This is This is great. But it's it's so hard to try and get back that mentality that I had years ago. And I know that if I
just stick with it and and stay consistent with it and push past a certain period, I know I'll get to that point. And that's exactly what I need to do. That's the whole point of pushing myself to to do all of this. But dude,
it's [ __ ] tough. It's tough when you get a glimpse of the better person that you not could be, but literally were. Like the better version of you and then you take a whole bunch of steps back. Which like I've done that so many
times in my life. Made progress in something and made a bad decision or just naturally like things just took courses to push myself back a few steps. talking about why I want to just turn on this camera more is
ideally throughout the last few years I've wanted to like grit down, lose the weight, get the business started, get in this like picture perfect position where I can say like, "Hey, so I went through these moments and and
through." But I guess at this point I just feel like it's so much better to just be vulnerable, I guess. Be a bit of a puss and and bring you into the literal
process because this is where I am. Um, you know, it's going to be so much better and easier in the time to come to be able to actually show and look back at moments and be like, "No, like look at where I
this point in time." And and then look at the progress that was made versus the uh that progress. I don't know, just some thoughts, man. Um, but like I said, I just I get so pissed at myself at times for giving up something that was
times for giving up something that was doing so well for me and uh I feel like I was a fool for pulling my attention in a different direction where I took the immediate dopamine, the immediate response of something and I traded my
health for that. And now we got to fix that. But also too, for anybody else out there, you know, if you start seeing those signs, uh draw back on that, you know. A lot of opportunities in life can be disguised as like obvious like, "Oh,
dude, you got to do this." Uh but in reality, it could be actually a wolf in sheep's clothing. I will say like I don't regret a lot of things. Um,
I believe in this like idea of karma and and some bigger power. Like something brings us to point A and point B. And then by the time I'm 40, I'll be able to that I had to go through this and that uh to get to point." Like it made sense
that I had to go through all the trials and tribulations as a graphic designer and then a creative and then a content creator to get to the point that I am in creator to get to the point that I am in because I like helping other people. And
I would not have the experience to help other people if I didn't go through the it. It's just, you know, as a human being, it's easy to get easy to, you know, see uh again the glimpse of of
what you were, not even just could have been, and then just be a little disappointed. Like, I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed. Say, "Just a short workout today, huh? Short workout before
activities." It's one thing I also want to do about our job app. It's just like through the big weight loss and got super into the gym, I was there for like an hour at times. But, when I lost like 50 lb a couple years ago, got into the
hiking and some CrossFit, there were days where I was just like, "Okay, even if it's 10 15 minutes, just go get a couple arm workouts." And like, three workouts, nothing crazy. Just focus on one body part, get three lifts in, and
then and then go be active. Go get 10,000 steps in for the day. Just that alone, the progress that you can make is unbelievable and the discipline that it it uh it teaches you. Listen to that baby purr. Oh my god,
it's foggy out here. Listen to the baby purr. the coffee shop that we always go to and they're relocating to this area. And
ironically, one of the top rentals that we're uh we we're applying for that one, right? I should at least. Just The rental is literally right around the corner from here. It's like
pool. It's across the street from the park that we always go to. RIP to our wall. Well, that's the whole point though, is wanting to move is is like we want to
unlock the equity of like our current home which just puts us in such a different position. It's not like we want to burn through it, but like if having a part of the routine is we go and get coffee here on our way to work,
like on her way to work or me before I start working in the studio, then I want to have the freedom to do that without feeling what? Punishment, burden. Without feeling like it's naughty.
Without feeling like it's naughty. >> [music] just went to were not able to show the houses. Either A, we were just driving
by because they had people in them or it just fell out or um it. I'll tell you what though, we had like a million subscribers or everybody was joining the members club of the channel so we could
be the town that we want to live in. This is like a little town outside of Charlotte where they've taken a small town and made it popular for rich people, essentially. So, it's got like mom and
pop markets, it's got railroad tracks just coming directly through it. It's home. And on the weekends it's dope. There's like cafes, ice cream shops. This is where I get my candles, cigar shop down
the road. >> [music] favorite places to go when we're here. Show you that what we're working with here. This place makes like home style meals.
good source of protein, little [music] man can get his avocados. I don't know why he likes avocados so much. Mom can get her French toast. That's my opinion. This is his French toast. Oh my goodness. [music] What the hell, kid?
You get French toast, avocado, watermelon? Yeah, you're a good eater. He got some toast, little granola bowl. What are we talking
about, baby? So, what's really cool about this place is not only is it a with local sourced things like eggs, meat, cheeses, you name [music] it. All right. So, I'm totally stealing this from somebody.
Sorry, Roman. Roman Atwood does these things called um >> Tank talks. Tank talks. That's right. Basically, because he's also got a truck and he's constantly at the gas station, and since I have a truck with a big old
gas tank, take the opportunity to talk while filling up the gas. Fortunately, the old Rexy poo takes premium, so it gets a little costly. No. How How does Roman never deal with this?
The ad's playing. Well, that's annoying. Anyways, all right. So, so so so. When it comes to the idea of us moving, um obviously, we've contemplated the idea
of going to some other states. Um specifically, Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina. Those are some other states that we have some form of interest in. The thing is, we really do like North Carolina. We like the North
conveniently close to everything. The want to get in a habit of just being someplace for a few amount of years and it not being picture perfect and then going to the next place. Because again,
you know, one of the like negatives of the area is like we don't really know people, but we don't actually like hang out and and have people to invite over all the time or go to their house or go do activities with other couples and
with their kids. And a big reason why we want to move and maybe rent in an area to where it would be harder to find a home is we'd have better opportunities home is we'd have better opportunities to find said people and create those
really unfair of Charlotte like I I I know moving to because we have lots of friends in Texas, we have lots of friends in Tennessee. Both those areas are beautiful, there's tax benefits there,
there's they they just check off so many uh notches on our list of things that we would want uh idealistically. But like I feel like this area is so good, it would be disingenuous or disrespectful to the
Like at the end of the day we've places that we like, we love having family and friends come in and visit. And whenever they're here it's like we
have so much to do, but we really haven't given it a shot. And I feel like we need to spend a year or two giving it a fair shake. Personally for me a big goal of mine is getting to a point where we don't need to put the little man in
school, she doesn't have to work anymore, you know, we would love for her to be a stay-at-home mom at some point um but in order to mix that with our dream property, it's it's it's that's a lot. You know what I mean? Like we want
acres, we want privacy, we want to be able to uh have animals as well. And for anybody that obviously has any of those things, you know it's not cheap. So I need to be putting myself in a in a position
to where long-term stability with investments and with whatever it is that we're building, we can comfortably do that without stress. Because we could have done it a while ago when Kick and Stick was doing well and we
almost did. There was we actually we were about to buy a home and something happened and it just kind of fell through and then another time that And we kind of had this like feeling of like meant to be and I think it was good
that that didn't happen because man, how stressful would it be to be taking these risks if we would be living not like extremely above our means in time, but you you know what I mean? Like couldn't really take the leap getting
out of the thing because I had to rely on focusing on Kickin' STEAK. on focusing on Kickin' STEAK. >> OH MY GOD! 143 That's insane. >> [music]
Remember when the other the vlog channel back in the day where I was too afraid channel. I had a whole 'nother channel that end I started vlogging when I was like making tech videos. And when we moved to
we started going to OpenDoor everywhere and uh this is what we would this is houses. [ __ ] speaking of. So, if you guys don't know what OpenDoor is, they're today's sponsor. Could you imagine? That'd be [ __ ] sick.
>> be. No, they're not. So, you can self-tour these. So, what these are like most likely what happened here is this was probably some rich couple that they got a job opportunity somewhere else in the uh in the world
needed to just sell, they go to OpenDoor, they sell the house. This OpenDoor, they sell the house. This property is now owned by OpenDoor. So, if you have the app and as long as you pass like the background check
pass like the background check you can just tour the house yourself. now. Living right by that road is already annoying me. Oh my god. Ooh, missed the door.
be touring this. I'm going to fall in love. So, the thing that thing that sucks about a house like this this is if if I would have stayed streaming on Kick and the Stake sponsorship, we could actually get something like this. It's
Here's the thing, even at the start of the year with what I'm currently doing the months have been really really well. So, it's not like even that I'm not that we're not doing well. It's just when you don't have the guaranteed sponsorship,
the consistent um the hours, you know, like when I was streaming full-time last year, it was easy to just see like, "Okay, here's how Here's how much I'm getting for my
sponsorship. This is consistent." Now, I'm kind of back in that variability. good for me cuz I got a lot of sponsors, but what happens if you don't have a month like this? Oh my I didn't realize it was literally on the
water. You know what? Here's what we do. We show it off in the vlog. We encourage everybody to be like, "Oh my god, we want them to live like this." 50,000 people 1,000 just 1,000 people
1,000 people are going to join the premium members club and we're going to make content for them every single day. Dude, imagine the boys He even goes, "Wow." Oh my god. Say, "Not enough room for a
pool barn back here." Well, maybe. Sick little grill. Oh my god, man. Nice property overlooking a lake. Jesus, could you guys imagine just every
day just every day? See, that would be the other thing, too. Like this this this seems like a good area, but we would be so paranoid being this close to You know what also sucks what I'm noticing looking at houses? I'm more
like I'm less inclined to want property that has this now and I used to. And I'm I'm wanting more decks now like if he falls on this like it's going to be so much worse like worse falling
consider until you have a kid. >> Wow. Imagine. Imagine waking up to that every day. Oh my god. That's it's a closet like hallway. Oh,
Jeez. Jeez. >> What are we talking about, baby? What are we talking about?
Big old closet. Honestly for the size and price the house in general Oh, cool. Over here, baby. You put your weed in there. Oh. Yeah, does it smell like [ __ ] Smells like And there's a little like
nook yard right here. I love that it's like already finished. Oh, there's a bedroom downstairs. Yeah, this is a bedroom. Like an in-law suite. Yes.
>> Oh, it's a trundle bed or whatever that Shut up. Yeah. That's pretty sick. I was then I realized why there's a bed under there. Megan called [ __ ] These aren't actual shiplap planking. This is a peel and stick. Oh, cool. Oh, man this
would be a sick office. God damn it. We shouldn't have looked at this. Another no. This would be a perfect creative room. >> All right, guys just a friendly reminder.
Uh one-on-one coaching is on my website. Uh make sure you guys are buying the pack. If we can get this video to go viral and we get a hundred thousand people to go purchase everything on my website, we'll be able to afford this
home. You know OnePlus said the idea I was just thinking up today, too. Like, getting back into to do these videos, obviously you can't rely on like turn around and something will happen from this. I'm just doing this because
like this is what I want to do, but like I was thinking, I was like, "Oh my god, I was thinking, I was like, "Oh my god, dude. Like, imagine the world where this pays off, videos do much better, we're not confined to an area we live
for internet because I'm not stressed about stream." It's crazy because when we were house shopping last year, the last 2 years, like the houses that we were finding, like they had to have good internet
because I streamed full-time. I had to have good internet. That's kind of the just need a good enough internet connection to, obviously, get the video uploaded, not for live streaming. So, honestly, as sick as this house is,
I want country, man. I want country, I want land, ATVs, I want side-by-side. I want to build a go-kart with that that little guy. I want to I want a garage that I can work on a car. This is a dope place, but this is like we're just
coming here because we're in the area looking at other houses, and I seen it check it out." Pretty sick, though. If anybody's in South Carolina and you guys can afford a $800,000 home, highly recommend.
We got to um going to get the iPad charged because I'm going back to no social media on the cell phone. When I was doing 75 Hard last year, that was one thing that I did that was huge for me. I got rid of social media on my
phone. And I don't even really know why I introduced it back [music] because it maybe it was because I have a personal phone, so I justified the idea of like social media back on this. Maybe I just I think I just need to get rid of the
the the phone. I literally don't use this, but I want to focus up on this. I am ready to locketh in. So, yeah, it'll be really interesting doing the whole move because it's exciting for one thing, changing
general. It gives you a new sense of purpose. Like it it it it spices things as a creator who's embarking on this idea like I'm to be uploading more videos, bringing you guys behind the scenes. It makes it
feel like good timing because I'll have so much more to talk about over the [music] at least next month or at some point. So, we'll be packaging all this up. And then when we figure out
in these videos, I'll be able to document the whole process of building something more there. Actually kind of defeats the purpose of me putting together this entire dual PC setup. I mean, it looks sick. Uh the streams
while I have been live have been running smoothly, so I I really can't complain. I was even I was talking to a other couple creators and uh just viewers. [music] And even they were like, "Yeah, I just
I feel like I'm outgrowing streaming [music] video games. They they want to do more I've had so much positive feedback on even the last video of people saying the same thing. Like, "We just want to start chasing other
things in life." On top of that, too, like the live stream culture in itself >> [music] >> dog [ __ ] Like, there's really no other way to put it. Yeah, dude, I have really just been enjoying the idea of just
playing games without the pressure of needing to talk to somebody else or needing to talk to other people. Um I don't get to play games as much anymore. social media, it's like I just I want to focus on the right [ __ ] But I still
like to do it from time to time. It's just It's a It's a fun thing on a random Saturday to just hop in the Discord for a couple hours and talk with some old too much with. Yeah, I'm going to shut down. I'm going to enjoy myself time
with the family off camera for the rest of the evening. I hope that this video in some way, shape or form resonated with some people today. You guys start that you want to work for. And we got a busy couple days I got to finish one
brand deal I just posted one today. I got to do another one by midweek and got to do another one by midweek and then I got a brand stream to do on coming into the week, I want to get over this this hump to help keep me
with everything moving forward. We're going to weigh in. We're actually going should be good. Anyways, guys, appreciate the support. Like, [music] comment, subscribe, turn on the notifications if any of that [ __ ]
today. I'm out. Peace. Doses. >> [music]
