# How to Farm Airdrops and Get a Good Allocation

> Source: [How to Farm Airdrops and Get a Good Allocation](https://youtube.com/watch?v=7A-tEw2epwE)

## Summary

The video explains what crypto airdrops are, how they work as a marketing strategy, and provides a practical guide to farming them. It covers eligibility criteria, examples like Jupiter and Bonk, and strategies to maximize allocations with minimal risk.

### Key Points

- **Definition of airdrop** [00:27] — A crypto airdrop is a strategy used by blockchain startups to distribute tokens to specific wallet addresses, usually in exchange for completing tasks like using the platform.
- **Purpose of airdrops** [00:56] — Airdrops are primarily a marketing strategy to gain early users and incentivize them to spend time on the platform, not just free money.
- **Jupiter airdrop example** [02:42] — Eligibility varies by platform; Jupiter required over $1,000 in swap volume, with 2 million wallets eligible for the bottom tier.
- **Early participation advantage** [03:35] — Being early to a platform generally results in a better airdrop, as platforms reward early users and supporters.
- **Task-based points** [04:20] — Platforms like Axiom offer tasks (referrals, trading, transactions) that accrue points, likely leading to token allocations.
- **Variety of airdrop requirements** [04:51] — Different platforms have different requirements: Tensor needed NFT trading, JITO required staking one Solana, Bonk rewarded contributors.
- **Risk-free airdrops** [05:46] — Some airdrops require no risk; Kato gave $200 for tweeting, and Graph gave an allocation for installing a Chrome extension.
- **Snapshot explanation** [07:25] — A snapshot marks the end of the farming period, locking in users; you usually don't know when it will be taken.
- **Volume stacking strategy** [08:17] — To stack volume safely, use older tokens with less volume to avoid volatility and rug pulls, and avoid wash trading.
- **Low capital requirement** [10:10] — You don't need a lot of Solana; 0.9 SOL is enough to farm effectively, and you can farm on multiple platforms simultaneously.
- **Phantom airdrop tips** [11:49] — For a potential Phantom airdrop, do as much swapping as possible in their built-in swap feature and set up a username.

## Transcript

Hello everybody and welcome back to the channel. In the video for today we are going to be discussing airdrops and we're actually going to go into a lot more detail in this video about how you can actually go ahead and start farming points for these airdrops and how you can set yourself up
to potentially get a really good allocation. Okay but before we talk about the actual specifics of what you can do to you know stack up some good points to potentially get an airdrop, you guys are going to need to understand what an airdrop actually is and this is a really good way
that you can think about it. Basically, a crypto airdrop is a strategy that is used by blockchain startups to distribute tokens or coins to specific wallet addresses. And what I would like to add to this definition is that you need to do a specific task to get an airdrop, right? In most cases,
it is as simple as using the platform, okay? And really the main thing that you need to understand is that airdrops aren't just for you to make money, right? It is really for the startup to
gain users very early and also have people actually come to their platform and be incentivized to spend some time on it, okay? So really more than anything, an airdrop is basically just a marketing strategy
that blockchain startups will use to basically attract more users and also get some easy word-of-mouth marketing because obviously a lot of people start talking about these airdrops, they start using their platform a lot, they refer their friends to the platform, etc, etc.
All right, and I wanted to get this out of the way specifically because I feel like there's a big misconception around airdrops that, you know, you're basically going to be entitled to an airdrop for simply existing. And unfortunately, that's not the case, right?
This is a strategy. So that means that there is a give and take, right? These platforms want to reward you for your participation in testing out their products. And that is really the only reason that you would get any type of reward, right?
They're not just going to give you money for just being a human. And one of the biggest questions I get asked in my online communities is people don't really fully understand if they're eligible for an airdrop or kind of what you need to do to make yourself eligible for an airdrop.
So that is what we are going to talk about in today's video. And it's important to note that all of these are basically different, right? There are different criteria that you need to meet if you want to get an allocation for an airdrop.
So we're going to talk about the different types of platforms there are, the different types of airdrops that you could potentially get. and basically just all the best practices that are associated with farming for airdrops. Okay, you might be wondering, well, what is that criteria that I need to meet to be eligible for these airdrops?
And it is always going to be dependent on the platform, right? Different airdrops will have different eligibility requirements, and that is always going to be case by case. But a recent example that took place on Solana was the Jupiter airdrop.
And all you needed to do for this airdrop was have over $1,000 in swapping volume on their platform, and you would have been entitled to receive a portion of that airdrop. There were over 2 million wallets that were eligible for just the absolute bottom tier, but if you did more
than a thousand in swap volume, you could have received more Jupiter. So if you've been following me for a while, you know that I'm a big fan of Jupiter and I've been using this platform basically daily And honestly this is a good example of one of the easier airdrops that you could have farmed because all you had to do was basically swap on their platform and you would have probably met the threshold requirement to get an airdrop And the more volume that you do on a platform like Jupyter the bigger your airdrop allocation
will usually be because again, there are different tiers for these airdrops. So if you only did a thousand dollars worth of swapping, you would have received the smallest allocation amount. But again, there were different thresholds. So if you did over $10,000 in swapping volume, you would have
receive drastically more tokens. So a few things that you should keep in mind if you are farming for airdrops is that generally speaking, the earlier you are to a platform or decentralized application, the better your airdrop will most likely be. And that is simply because these
platforms typically want to reward their earliest users and supporters. And also, a lot of these airdrops are distributed based on the volume that you are doing on these platforms. And you know, it's just common sense that you know, if you're earlier on an application, you probably will
accrue more volume over time. Also, there are other things that you can do to get bigger allocations, right? That might be referring more people to the platform or, you know, doing certain tasks that will give you more points. Okay, so for example, on a platform like Axiom, they give you
specific tasks that you can complete to accrue more points. And these tasks are simple, like referring more people to their platform, trading more on their platform, making more transactions, etc etc all of these tasks will result in points and all of these points we can assume will
eventually result in a token allocation at some point but that is just one example of an airdrop that i am farming right now right it doesn't mean that every single thing that happens on axiom is going to happen on other airdrops right so you know we already went over jupiter but i can tell
you that tensor you needed to do a specific amount of nft trading on their platform to get an airdrop for their tokens, okay? With JITO, all you have to do is stake one Solana for a specific period of time
and you would have received that airdrop. For Bonk, there was a lot of ways that you could have received their airdrop, right? If you were holding specific NFT collections, you would have gotten an allocation. Or if you were just simply a contributor on Solana,
you probably would have received an allocation as well for Bonk. And I could keep going down the list, but the point is all of these platforms offer different airdrops and they have different requirements to receive those airdrops. But the bottom line is the more that you are participating in a certain
ecosystem, the better your chances are of receiving an airdrop, okay? Because for the case like Bonk, if you basically were on Solana and you were interacting with the ecosystem at the time, there was a pretty good chance that you would have gotten at least some allocation of Bonk tokens.
But one of the best things about airdrops, and especially if you are a beginner, sometimes you don't even need to actually put up any risk to participate and potentially get an airdrop and a good example of that is this Kato platform that I actually talked about in my
telegram and also my discord channel for the past couple weeks and I received basically $200 from basically putting out a few tweets about this platform and you guys could do the same there are a lot of people in my community who received the exact same allocation as me simply by just
participating frequently on Twitter. Another good example of an airdrop that didn't even require you to put up any risk was this graph platform which I formed about six months ago and I received the airdrop for it a few months ago All you had to do was basically just install their Chrome extension and you would have received an allocation of their airdrop
So airdrops don't mean that you have to take any risk in a lot of cases, right? It's more so that you are participating and actually experimenting on these platforms. So, so far, the takeaways of this video for you guys should be that, you know, if you are a beginner, airdrops can be extremely lucrative for you guys.
because again, there isn't always a risk that is associated with airdrops. Sometimes it's just as simple as just participating in a new ecosystem and you can be rewarded greatly just by actually spending your time
learning about it and participating on it. Okay, but now let's talk about actually farming for these things and like the things that I personally do when I am trying to get a good allocation for a new platform. So we are going to go over that right now.
So for Axiom, I know that the more trading volume that I do on this platform the bigger my airdrop will be because of those tasks that they assign to us, right? We know that that is how they are distributing a lot of their points.
So really what my goal is, is to stack up as much trading volume on this platform as possible until they take their snapshot. And for those of you who don't know what a snapshot is, it basically marks the end of the period that you have to farm for those airdrops, okay?
So once a snapshot is taken, think of it as the platform locking in the people who have actually use that platform up to that point. And that snapshot basically marks the end of the
period that people are eligible to farm for these things. And just a quick side note, you usually will never know when a snapshot is going to be taken. You usually only know it after the fact. So the quicker that you start farming for these things, the better. Okay, so just keep that in
mind. Okay, so obviously things in the trenches right now aren't that great. So how am I going to actually go about stacking up as much volume as possible on this platform? I am not going to be, you know, trading these new pairs because they simply are too volatile. So I will be actually
looking for older tokens with less volume so that I can pretty comfortably swap in and out of these tokens and stack up as much volume as possible with taking on as little amount of risk as possible. If things were a bit better in the trenches, I would just be trading normally and I would be
stacking up a lot of natural volume. But, you know, since there isn't a lot of on-chain activity right now, I do think the most value is in these older tokens because you can sit in them pretty comfortably for a little bit, sell them, and then you will be naturally stacking up a lot of volume
with not a lot of risk on the actual token price. So again, our goal here is to eliminate volatility so that we can comfortably stack up a lot of volume. And this is the easy part, right? I'm just picking some older tokens that I personally really like that don't have a ton of volume right
now, and they don't have the risk of rugging, right? That's really your only risk here is if you buy tokens that rug. But really, all I'm going to be doing here is just putting in some buy orders, and I'm going to wait a couple of minutes and then I'm going to sell them and I'm going
to stack up a lot of volume on this platform. Okay, and really the only thing that we are trying not to do on these platforms is wash trade on them. And what wash trading basically would look like is if I bought this token 10 seconds ago and then I immediately sold
it right after Okay that is fake volume Most of these platforms are not going to count that So again don be one of these people who just buys a token and then sells it literally 10 seconds afterwards I don think that that volume will count and it also just not a good look These tokens are seriously dead
right now. The on-chain activity is super low right now. So I'm just going to sell this right now and we're going to move on to another one. All right, I just added into another one here and I actually like this token a lot. I actually talked about this on my Telegram a few days ago.
these are the tokens that used to actually perform very well like 10 months ago. Obviously, the meta is very different now. And also, there isn't really a meta right now. So, you know, these tokens aren't going to have a lot of volume. And this is the perfect time, in my opinion,
to do some farming for airdrops. Another thing worth mentioning is that you don't need a ton of Solana to actually farm on these platforms, right? I'm only using 0.9 right now. And I'm going to be able to stack up a lot of volume today just with this. But you know, you don't
need like 20 sold to really rack up a lot of volume on these platforms. So just keep that in mind. And the nice thing about airdrop farming is that you aren't just limited to one platform, right? You can be doing this on a bunch of other platforms as well. So I'm also going to be
continuing to stack up volume on Nova while I am also doing it on Axiom. Getting a little pump here, we love that. And as a beginner, this is seriously one of the best ways for you to actually get a decent portfolio built up if you are consistently farming the right airdrops. And the best place to
learn about new airdrops that are coming out is either to be scouring Twitter constantly and just keeping up with all the new projects that are launching, or you can just join an online community like mine. Both of these are 100% free. We have an airdrop farming channel in Discord, so we're
constantly talking about the new ones that are coming out. If you want to join, feel free to hop in. But guys, this is basically just airdrop farming in a nutshell, right? It's not that complex. It's not as complicated as a lot of people make it seem. Obviously, some platforms
require you to do a lot more than others, but for these trading platforms, you basically just need to rack up a lot of volume and refer people to their platform to get as many points as possible. So if you want to keep up with the airdrops that I personally will be farming, hop in my online
communities. I will let you guys know as these opportunities arise. But other than that, the other really big one that is being rumored right now is Phantom. I can't say for sure that they are going to have an airdrop or not, but they did recently release a new feature where you can create
username and I would highly recommend that you do that if you have not already. Okay if phantom were to do an airdrop in my opinion the best way for you to put yourself in position to actually receive an airdrop from phantom would be to do as much swapping as
humanly possible in their built-in swap features here and also have a username set up for your phantom account. And again guys a phantom airdrop has now been confirmed so don't rely on that but theoretically if they were to drop one that is what I would personally do. But alright guys that
that is going to wrap up the video for today. So I hope you learned something about airdrops and more importantly, how you can put yourself in a position to receive some airdrops. If you are a beginner in the space, in my opinion, airdrops are the best way for you to get some exposure and really start building up your portfolio
in a pretty risk-off way. So keep your eye out for new airdrops that are coming out. And also, if you are not in my online communities already, feel free to join because we talk about this stuff whenever they come up. Thank you all so much for watching.
I will see you in the next video. So I will talk to you then. Bye.
