# Quality vs Quantity on YouTube: Which Is Better?

> Source: [Quality vs Quantity on YouTube: Which Is Better?](https://youtube.com/watch?v=GH_fi5vfIVY)

## Summary

This video discusses the age-old debate of quality versus quantity for YouTube creators. The speaker argues that consistency and a regular publishing schedule are crucial for building a sustainable channel, while quality is ultimately defined by the viewer's perception of value. The key is to balance both, prioritizing consistency to develop workflows and improve over time, while letting audience feedback guide what constitutes quality content.

### Key Points

- **The Consistency Question** [00:00] — A viewer asks whether consistency or the number of videos published matters more, especially for creators with jobs, families, or other commitments.
- **Consistency Builds a Schedule** [00:54] — Consistency ensures you have a dedicated schedule for content creation, integrating it into your lifestyle.
- **Quality Means Improving** [01:09] — Quality is about making the best content you can at your current level and actively working to get better over time.
- **Efficiency Over Perfection** [01:40] — Don't spend excessive time on unnecessary edits; focus on what's essential for the video. The extra four hours spent editing might not be worth it.
- **Quality is Defined by Viewers** [02:25] — Creators often think quality means good audio, lighting, or locations, but quality is actually determined by the viewers, not the creator.
- **Unpredictable Performance** [02:52] — Some videos made with little effort perform great, while heavily produced ones can bomb. This shows quality is subjective and viewer-driven.
- **Predicting Success** [03:46] — By being intentional and learning from your audience, you can predict which videos will perform well based on viewer value and engagement.
- **Balancing Both** [04:27] — The challenge is to balance consistency and quality over long periods. Quantity, as determined by viewers, is about how engaged your fans are.
- **Prioritize for Long-Term Success** [04:55] — If you prioritize consistency and quality, you give yourself the best chance to sustain your channel and avoid wasting effort.

### Conclusion

The video concludes that consistency and quality are not mutually exclusive; consistency builds the habit and workflow, while quality is ultimately judged by the viewer. The best approach is to prioritize both, using audience feedback to guide your definition of quality, and to maintain a sustainable schedule to avoid burnout.
