## Summary

The video analyzes the mutant saga plans revealed in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, focusing on the introduction of Jean Grey (played by Sadie Sink) and what it means for the MCU's X-Men. It discusses the implications for the 616 universe, potential mutant origins, and future film announcements.

### Key Points

- **Jean Grey Casting Confirmed** [00:15] — Sadie Sink is confirmed to play Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Secret Wars, and an upcoming X-Men movie. She is the sister of Sarah Grey, and her powers include telepathy, body hopping, and telekinesis.
- **Jean Grey's Comic Importance** [01:40] — Jean Grey is a key mutant in Marvel lore, known as Marvel Girl, a future host of the Phoenix Force, and part of the Summers family tree, which is a focus for Mr. Sinister.
- **Kamala Khan's Mutant Status** [02:05] — Kamala Khan was established as a mutant in the Ms. Marvel series, with her friend Bruno discovering a genetic mutation. This was a significant moment for mutant representation in the MCU.
- **Namor as the First Mutant** [02:30] — Namor the Submariner was the earliest character in Marvel Comics to be described as a mutant, and his mutant status was highlighted in Wakanda Forever.
- **Wanda Maximoff's Mutant Potential** [02:56] — Wanda Maximoff is considered a mutant, though the MCU avoided calling her that due to a deal with Fox. With the Disney-Fox merger, her and her sons Billy and Tommy can now be seen as mutants.
- **Definition of Mutants vs. Mutates** [03:23] — The MCU may define mutants as those born with powers without an origin event, like Wanda or Peter Quill, while mutates are those affected at a genetic level, like Peter Parker or Bruce Banner.
- **Why No X-Men Announcements at Comic-Con** [04:02] — The reveal of Jean Grey explains why Marvel Studios made no X-Men announcements at San Diego Comic-Con; they were saving it for the movie. Future announcements are expected at D23 on August 14th.
- **Emma Frost Casting** [04:27] — Samara Weaving is confirmed to play Emma Frost, a telepath and member of the Hellfire Club, who can turn into diamond. She is in talks with director Jake Schreier.
- **Other Casting Rumors** [05:57] — Rumors suggest Charles Melton as Hank McCoy (Beast) and Kaye Spainy as Rogue, both appearing in Netflix's Beef, written by Lee Sung Jin, who is writing the X-Men film. Adam Driver is rumored for a role, possibly Mr. Sinister.
- **Release Date Speculation** [07:46] — The X-Men film is speculated to release in May 2028, with Ghost Rider in July 2028. Marvel Studios will not release any movies between Avengers: Doomsday (Dec 2026) and Secret Wars (Dec 2027).
- **Kevin Feige on X-Men Stories** [08:13] — Feige expressed excitement about delving into the many untold X-Men sagas, indicating a focus on the Claremont era, which is referenced by Lee Sung Jin and Feige.
- **Origin of Jean Grey in the Movie** [08:54] — Feige explained that Jean Grey was introduced as a young person similar to Peter Parker, without a mentor, to highlight her need for guidance. This led to the casting of Sadie Sink.
- **Jean Grey's Location and Xavier's Estate** [10:48] — Jean Grey takes a bus upstate, possibly to Westchester County, where Xavier's estate is located, suggesting the existence of Professor X and other mutants in the 616 universe.
- **Mutants in 616 History** [11:01] — Mutants may have existed in the MCU history but were not organized. Their powers might be dormant, activated by recent events like the Snap or cosmic radiation.
- **Slow Aging of Mutants** [11:42] — Mutants like Namor age slowly, so older mutants like Magneto could be alive and appear younger, having survived historical events like the Holocaust.
- **Trigger for Mutant Awakening** [12:06] — The trigger for mutants could be puberty or universe-wide cosmic events, such as the Snap, which may have activated dormant X-genes.
- **Mutant Inhibitor Technology** [12:33] — The end of Brand New Day reveals that Bill Mezer experimented on enhanced beings and renamed Shocker's gauntlet to 'Gauntlet X', hinting at anti-mutant technology.
- **Potential Villains and Government Agencies** [13:12] — The mutant saga may feature villains like Senator Kelly, Gyrich, Trask, and Stryker, using DODC infrastructure and Sentinel-like technology to hunt mutants.
- **Homegrown Mutants in 616** [13:53] — Marvel Studios likely wants all mutants to originate from Earth 616, not other universes, to keep the saga simple and integrated into the main timeline.
- **Memory Wipe Theory** [14:31] — A possible explanation for mutants' absence is a memory wipe spell, similar to what Doctor Strange did to Peter Parker, erasing public knowledge of mutants.
- **Wolverine Exists in 616** [15:11] — A throwaway detail in She-Hulk mentioned a man with metal claws, suggesting Wolverine exists in the 616 universe, possibly in hiding.
- **Purpose of Introducing Jean Grey** [15:50] — Introducing Jean Grey now sets up the mutant saga after Secret Wars, which will not be a full reboot, allowing for a continuation of the 616 universe with mutants.
- **No Full Reboot After Secret Wars** [16:19] — Kevin Feige does not want Secret Wars to be a complete reboot, as Marvel remains invested in characters like T'Challa's lineage and Yelena Belova, ensuring continuity.
- **Wanda Maximoff's Return** [16:56] — If the universe isn't rebooted, Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda could return as Scarlet Witch, setting up a House of M event where mutants dominate society.

### Conclusion

The video concludes that Marvel Studios is setting up a homegrown mutant saga within the 616 universe, with Jean Grey as the catalyst. The introduction of mutants will be gradual, with potential for major events like House of M, and the universe will not be fully rebooted after Secret Wars.

Mutant Saga. This horrible truth and everything else we learned about Marvel Studios X-Men and Mutant Saga plan in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. I'm Eric Boss explain Marvel Studios plan for the X-Men and the Mutant Saga after
Brand New Day. Spoiler warning if you have not seen the movie yet. Seriously, spoil the big twist. It is confirmed. Sadie Sync is playing Gan Gray for Marvel Studios in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, in Avengers: Secret Wars, and for
the X-Men movie that will be announced soon. Gan Elaine Gray, sister to Sarah their mother, Elaine, for their mutant abilities. What does this confirmation now tell us about Marvel Studios mutant plan starting in this movie, followed

mutant telepath who has a sister named Sarah and has the power of body hopping possession and after her trauma over her sister's death and her anger takes over, also telekinesis and a truly expanded scale over at least a half mile radius.
Gan Gray is one of the most important mutants to Marvel lore. Better known as Marvel Girl in the very first issues of X-Men comics in the '60s, she was part level mutant, a future host to the Phoenix Force, someone who can really
level up and even warp reality. And with Scott Summers, she's part of really the most important family tree. A family tree that becomes a weird obsession of Mr. Sinister. Gan Gray is not the first character with a mutant status in this

Forever, Neymar used the word to describe himself. >> I was a mutant. >> And that was important because Neyar the Submariner was the earliest character in Marvel Comics lore to be described as a
mutant back in the Timely Comics era. And also in that Wakanda Forever movie, qualities to that mutant status. >> I could swim in the sky and age slower, breathe the air our ancestors breathe.
>> There are also some MCU characters that we suspect are going to be named Wanda Maximoff is certainly considered a mutant. Even though when her character post-redit scene of Captain America: Winter Soldier and further in Avengers:

recastings, we can now look at characters like Wana Maximoff and her sons Billy and Tommy as mutants as well. It also seems that the MCU might have a born with their powers without any otherwise shown origin story event or
power source might be considered a mutant. This would include Wonderman, Simon Williams, or Peter Quill, son of the celestial ego. Meanwhile, characters whose powers seem to have affected them on the level of their DNA, but things
might be considered mutates. That would include Peter Parker, Bruce Banner, Carol Danvers, Monica Rambo. They don't have a genetic mutant status, but what genetic level when it comes to their
mRNA replication. While Wam Maximoff did have a powerup event via the cosmic before that happened, she was able to cast a low-level probability hex in exploding, implying that she was born with whatever she has, and it might be a
genetic status. Sadie Sink being revealed as Gan Gray in this movie is now in retrospect 100% why Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios made no announcements about their X-Men film or mutant saga plans at Hall H at San Diego Comic- Con.

said Black Panther 3 will release on December 15th, 2028 and Ghost Rider will they were less committal about that one because they might be waiting to announce that X-Men will come in May 2028 and Ghost Rider will come in July
2028. I just think Shawn Levy really likes that July weekend. In other that they will not be releasing any movie between Avengers Doomsday on December 18th, 2026 and Avengers Secret Wars on December 17th, 2027. Here's what
Kevin Feige told Josh Horowitz about what type of X-Men stories they plan to >> The other awesome thing is the amount of X-Men stories that have not been told with other Marvel heroes, of which there are lots, but but there are sagas upon
sagas upon sagas within the X-Men, that we're very excited to uh to delve into. >> By establishing Gan Gray as the younger sister of Sarah Gray, that detail really Claremont era that Lee Sun Jin and Kevin Feige have referenced whenever they talk
about their X-Men plans. But why establish Jean Gray right now in this movie? What is Marvel Studios telling us about the history of the 616 universe? Over the weekend, Kevin Feige told a crowd at his alma moater USC how the
of this movie really came about. >> But that was one of the big development who is the bad guy. And there was one version of a bad guy, then another version of bad guy, then a version essentially of of this bad guy um that
was revealed to be a very obscure character nobody ever heard of. And and it just wasn't it wasn't satisfying. And that might be what Tom was talking about character?" And I said, "Well, we can't use this character, but and knowing that
all of the the the journey that Peter was going on has to culminate in his end." That's when Jean starts to come up. Start a young a young person very similar in age to Peter, maybe a little younger. Peter again, who I just
said, had a mentor in each of the other Spider movies. and seeing a a a young person who did not have a mentor, seeing a young person who has powers like Peter did, but didn't have an aunt man, that didn't have anybody to help guide to
help guide her. Um, and that is what led and and the origin story of Gan Gray in the in the comics before Xavier finds her before she joins the X-Men does have something to do with her not not controlling her powers. And that is when
it really came together. And then uh our co-producer Emily Fong sitting around the table said, "What about Satie Sync?" And we all went, "Okay, it's Gan Gray. what >> Thank you to the USC students who
recorded this. So from this, Kevin Feige explains that Gan Gray was not the structure. It was somewhat obscure, maybe like Mind Worm. But through all these development conversations, they wanted their first MCU X-Men member to
be around Peter Parker's age and to be very dangerous and very much in need of mentorship. By the way, Emily Fong, she played one of the apprentices in the Home. At the end of Brand New Day, Gene
We were thinking this could be in the Hudson River Valley, Westchester County, where Charles Xavier's estate would be. But that would mean that this universe already has a Professor Charles Xavier in it. maybe already has a mutant
they already have a Magneto and other older era mutants in it. If that's true, where the hell have they been in the MCU stories that we've seen? Well, I think the idea would be that these mutants might exist in this history, but the
older ones are not yet organized into groups and alignments that we know them for. Like they might just be isolated, scattered, maybe not all of their I think most of them would have dormant powers that come from X genes, but until
the recent history of the MCU have not yet been activated. But here's the thing about genetic mutants that Neymar told us. They age slowly. If that's true for some mutants who were born in the early 20th century of the MCU history. Mutants
like Eric Lyncher who survived Ashvitz and continued to age slowly so that they would now look between the ages of 50 and 60. What we would really need then is a recent trigger. That recent trigger for genetic mutant Kamala Khan was the
that she inherited from her great-g grandandmother. The light from the Nord dimension that that ancestor came from. That was the trigger for Kamala. For other mutants, it could just be puberty timed with universewide releases of
cosmic radiation like Thanos's snapping of the Infinity Stones, or rather the Stark snapped them. I mean, after all, Brand New Day seemed to suggest that analog to Peter Parker's J. Robert Oppenheimer when it comes to the
technology. I mean, I would love it if either Bruce or Tony were the ones responsible for the event that awakened all of the dormant mutants in this as it is right at the second, is kind of in a scary place when it comes to that
mutant inhibitor technology. The end of Brand New Day confirms that Bill Mezer experimentation on these enhanced beings and tinkering with advanced weaponry goes far further than anyone realized. In fact, one detail that I spotted in my
breakdown was that they renamed Shocker's gauntlet gauntlet X, which working on the nomenclature of what to call these genetic enhanced persons X-Men. If Mezer's loose and if he still has that chip that he and his texts put
on Gene Gray, that technology is still out there and could be shared by Mezer with any others in the government. First suspect for me, CIA director Val. I Elena does either if she's not working out of the tower and is instead working
out of this bath house office. I think in the early era of the mutant saga, going to cast other human leaders who are hunting down mutants. Senator Robert Kelly, Henry Peter Guyrich, Boloulevard Tras, William Striker, and now these
equip on Sentinels to force mutants to wear inhibitor collars. They're going to of the apparatus that already exists of the DODC. And we know the DODC already has a prison facility like the Supermax Prison in Yucka Valley, California. Just
raft, too. Now, in the past, I had certainly assumed that Marvel Studios mutants as coming from another universe, young recastings that we could meet in a section of Battle World in Secret Wars. But now, with Gan Gray in the exact way
that she was introduced in this movie, I now believe that Marvel Studios is not to keep it simpler. I think they want all of their mutants that they're going to be exploring in the mutant saga to be homegrown, originating in the original
Earth 616 just to imply that all other universe chunks that we see in Battle World and Secret Wars are either fun cameo worlds of past Marvel franchises like the Remy verse or hypothetical what-if worlds like Hydra World that we
saw in Multiverse of Madness where Steve is Captain Hydra or a new Xandar where Nova could be introduced or you know like a Hulk village like we saw in the concept art. But if Sadi Sinks Gene Gray comes from this Earth 616, I think
Marvel Studios is going to want all other X-Men to come from Earth 6162. So they're not just living low profile, another theory is that there could have been a past memory wipe spell that erased the X-Men from the collective
did to Peter Parker that the movie Brand New Day was so obsessed with exploring the ramifications of. Maybe there was some history in the 1960s of the 616 Xavier and a Magneto and a first class
the ancient one warped reality to erase them from public memory. But if that still exist and then have to find their way through society feeling like did. I mean, this is a detail that I viewed as a throwaway detail, but
She-Hulk did include a headline to a man with metal claws somewhere in the MCU fighting in bars. I mean, if we're going to take that as like religious fact, a Wolverine is somewhere out there in the 616 universe. But if a memory wipe spell
explanation is too confusing, I get it. I get it. That wouldn't be Marvel Marvel Studios could just say, "These mutant characters always existed. They organized into groups like the X-Men yet." But they didn't realize that there
no school yet. There's no Brotherhood yet. There's no Janosha yet. But Gene taking this bus upstate is really the first steps to these mutants finding against the government hunting them. So why is Marvel Studios introducing Gene
Wars when those movies will focus on films? I think Marvel wants to send off that era with a firm goodbye. But I do promise that after these crossover events get resolved, there will be some
universe that looks somewhat like the 616 universe that we still know and love with homegrown mutants in it waiting to pick up the pieces of the franchise. Kevin Feige does not want Secret Wars to be a complete 100% reboot because
that Marvel Studios remains invested in, especially now that they've confirmed that Tchala's lineage with Prince Tchala will continue to be intact in the future after Secret Wars. Florence Pew is a star. They want Yelena Bova to be a face
of this franchise. Someone who has a history dating back to 1995 of that same with Tom Holland's Peter Parker, through dating back to Iron Man 2. He is now kind of the elder statesman Tony
Stark figure who really should regret his Oppenheimer-esque role for inventing mutant inhibitor collars. But also the good news of this is if Marvel isn't going to reboot the universe 100% after Secret Wars, saying they're sticking
universe makes it possible now that Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff could return as a Scarlet Witch of this universe during the Mugent saga. She or not Marvel Studios would decide to go with the Memory White plan or they were
always here plan. Either way, we would be perfectly set up for a true House of M event where Wanda could warp reality into an alternate universe where mutants dominate society. Comment down below with your thoughts, hopes, and ideas for
