hey everybody i want to share with you a really cool website it's called fuelingteens.com and i'm going to show you how they're just absolutely cleaning up in a really really competitive ymwhile niche also i'm going to be taking your questions on this live uh so go ahead and log in and go ahead and start posting questions i'll be taking them in just a few minutes as people start to filter in okay but the one that i want to show you is called fuelingteens.com so this site you'll notice in the sidebar you'll see something very familiar the name katherine harmer harmers my last name too she's actually my niece-in-law she started in project 24 writing her articles now her niche made me really nervous when she got started her niche is nutrition for teenagers and so when i saw fueling teens.com is about nutrition for teenagers i said i don't know i don't know if you should make this site because google's really careful about these websites about your money or your life now especially with his nutrition for teens i'm nervous now she is a registered nutritionist but i don't know how well google can even tell that uh to know that that credential makes the difference uh to get the site to rank but she started the site so right now this site has about 60 articles we're talking about teens.com if you're just logging on as i'm kind of waiting for questions to come in so it has about 60 articles but only about 30 of them have had time to rank fuelingteens.com is getting 23 000 page views a month from those 30 articles that that's really really impressive in a ymwale space and so i just wanted to use it as an example for you guys to go look at if you're in a ymyl space or you're just wondering what kind of writing it takes to get started that's what we need that's clearly clearly the type of content that google is looking for um just look at how everything's written look at the how which articles have been selected that's a good example to look at of what to do with your website hey everybody glad some of you have been going on one person says hey can you let us know before you're going live i didn't know until five minutes ago that i was going live and so i'm not sure that i really can um alright great glad everybody's here you can go ahead and and start posting questions so philip says hey how do you compete with big sites with good backlinks well i mean i i think this is a good example over time the importance of backlinks have been chipped away a lot and now i feel like more than ever good content is rising to the top now google has also had a little bit of an obsession with with authority really over the last two years but it's kind of gotten too far sometimes what was i googling earlier this week that i couldn't even find the info because they were just sending me to government websites because it was a ymyl query but they were just sending me to government websites that had terrible articles and i was like can you just send me to somebody that will explain this so it can be difficult in some queries where you can just tell google is only going to give this to authoritative places but it's less than a lot of people make it out to be i mean look at fueling teens i mean that's kind of like the perfect storm for a ymyl site a nutrition for teenagers and a brand new site is killing it i mean getting about 850 articles or 850 page views per article per month of those that have had time to rank that's pretty incredible all right um p mitch says the importance of backlinks has not been shifting back it's the only metric google admits it's still as relevant as before okay i i disagree there because it used to be that with the right links you could take crappy content and you could rank it we don't see that hardly at all anymore where we have crappy content just with a ton of links and so i don't think i agree with you for that reason that used to be constant in the in the serps and it's not really anymore uh s mchugh says any more frozen frozen fish sticks no i have not eaten a frozen fish stick in like 12 years uh those of you who read uh my book work energy i'm pointing over to there to it on the shelf know why i don't eat fruit eat uh fish sticks but so far i've been avoiding them uh pmed says thanks for a fair reply uh so yeah anyway thanks for that that comment okay um burak s says creating content is a hustle sometimes when i write about response posts i feel like nobody nobody will ever read my post how can i get rid of the feeling you know i feel like it more sometimes that um that it's not worth writing at all when i'm just cranking out content for content's sake when i feel proud of the resource i created i'm less concerned about that feeling like oh is anybody ever going to come here now i will mention that that's something we're working on though is improving our search analysis process to avoid search terms that just don't end up having the the search volume more on that actually in monday's youtube video i think my angle is a little bit too low here how's that okay um my website is only three months old and i'm getting good views feel like an early hockey stick from be decisive that's good it's good to see some early motion on there not something we really worry about really until six months you should really start to see something happening with consistent views eight months we should be a lot of the way up there but we've we've seen sites that just were a slow burn for whatever reason and even a year and two months in they really is where that hockey stick starts to happen so don't be weirded out if you don't start to see results later we're not exactly sure why sometimes that happens why some are hitting at that six month mark and others taking a little bit over a year it baffles me sometimes but it can happen and so i wouldn't get too worried about it our thirty arthur dane edane says if you write articles on multiple topics should i release them all together or mix up the topics in my publication schedule i wouldn't worry about that honestly as long as they're somewhat related on the website i just go ahead and publish i mean let's start that clock counting as soon as possible if you're talking about i it takes me time to write them anyway then it could make some sense to group up topics that you're writing about because then you can interlink them because you just wrote that post yesterday so you can interlink to one if you know you want to link to a post but you won't write it for another few weeks in your publishing schedule you can miss some interleaking opportunities that you may just forget about down the line and it could help to get a little bit of authority in that small niche but also be careful as you're writing your first batches of content that you're spreading it out enough talking about different topics so that you can see what aspects of your niche are going to work better and what's not going to work as well uh udit challa says i'm not able to write articles regularly what do you do write articles more regularly you know people tell me whatever you're busy a million different reasons like if you want to create a business and it's a content business you gotta publish content regularly there's no getting around this right it's like man i wanna build up my house painting my business painting houses only problem is i can't paint many houses it's just not going to work right so sorry you got to buck up wake up early stay up late you got to publish that content all right uh how to write your very first blog post we have a video about it that's been really popular uh several years old we're actually we've changed quite a bit in our post recipe and will more at the start of may as you'll find out in monday's youtube video uh but it's always good to uh uh go kind of go with that post recipe and try to understand how to write that first post get you started on the right track all right has anyone in the project 24 community tried to publish 500 to a thousand uh or oh 500 to a thousand articles in the first year um we definitely have people in project 24 that are publishing at insane paces i mean we i i know of several people who are you know buying 10 000 or more of content every single month that are just building up massive massive websites i don't know if i would recommend doing that in your first year of project 24. and the reason is i want you to do some of the work i want you to start seeing some results as verification of what you're doing that it's working before you really spend crazy amounts now we have a ton of people in there who are just super successful know exactly what they're doing they're experts now and yeah they should go full bore um but i i do want to make sure people are writing their own content in that first batch so they can learn the skills and then slowly starting to outsource over time um and i will mention uh we're starting to sell articles from our writing team you know our writing team uh has produced a lot of uh very uh well-monetized sites that have earned a ton of money for us and we're starting to make it so other people can hire our writing team for their articles that's at contentwarrior.com it's going to be released in full steam in a couple weeks here probably at the same time that our new version of our flagship blogging course does within project 24 of course all project 24 members will be getting the update gorov solanki says hey jimmy good to see you again people used to call me jimmy when i was little so it's kind of fun to see actually we just moved here to st george utah and my next-door neighbor was my next-door neighbor when i was a kid when we lived in hawaii and so it's kind of kind of a crazy situation and so she's been calling me jimmy uh it's kind of fun jam you guys have hard last names chocolatic says hello jim i'm a member of project 24 and i'd like to know if you'll be doing reviews of project 24 members websites as you did in the past i would be interested hey post it let's do yours right now jen but yeah we do that we do that periodically as well okay okay be decisive one good question do backlinks from different pages from the same website count for or against you well it counts for you you can have more than one link from a different from the same domain name probably starts to look weird if you start getting thousands from the same domain uh but certainly you can all right all right somebody's asking about uh is a betting website okay for google ads i'm not sure about that one but you can read the google adsense uh policies to see what what they accept i mean it's not like a black box you can see in fact you should if you know you're entering a controversial niche you know medical marijuana or whatever something like that guns then you should look it up in the google google adsense's policies to see if you're going to be able to monetize with ads because if google adsense won't take you really none of the premium ad networks will take you either except there are a couple that i know are targeted toward um controversial niches and stuff and so maybe one of them but you probably won't get on with one of the major uh agencies so something to look at but google adsense has actually opened up a little bit um in the type of website that they're accepting you know i think it was early last year that they accepted uh firearms websites they started opening up to so interesting we'll kind of see where they go with that but they have been more inclusive digital pie i have a site not ymyl with okay and how okay i've gotta kind of pause on that i want us to get away from as a community focusing on a whole site as being ymyl or not virtually every niche can have ymyl topics in that niche virtually every topic that we would say is why i'm whale could also have some content that's not let's think more article based for example you know you're writing an article about uh gamers or something and then you make one article on how to set up an ergonomic gaming desk uh oh ergonomic now we are dealing with something medical answer it sorry i'm sorry i just lost it um gorov solanki says is google stories for wordpress worth it you know we did a video showing how to use it uh we've kind of dipped our toes in to try to explain it which is what we said um when we made that video and we'll dip our tone kind of see what happens here it's been all quiet on the western front i have never seen a google story uh accidentally in search results i i have found some when i was intentionally trying to see them and so until i start to see them popping up more in the wild i'm not going to waste a ton of time with it but it's good to know the technique in case google starts to pop those up that will be primed and ready to go uh hamza ali says what do you think about a smartwatch blog yeah absolutely i so in in project 24 we teach about the inverted pyramid and the big question is how big is the pyramid well smart watches are a pretty big pyramid and so you can get to asking some pretty niche questions about them that could work really well now are you going to rank for fitbit review apple watch review yeah don't don't don't don't do that it's not going to work very well similarly don't just write reviews of a specific watch band or something like that that's too niche most people are going to get trapped in technology spaces by trying to do reviews and i think if you go a different way finding common questions about that technology that you could do really well rudy brass says is it worth writing a post on a topic that that a competitor has already done with a high quality authoritative post on you know it's kind of up to you i mean the the top search result is only going to get whatever 25 30 of the total search volume and so being number two can still be really valuable if it's a good if it's a good search query so yeah i mean i think it's it's worth doing it but also for me personally i want to win i want to win every time i compete and so if i don't have anything to add to the conversation and i'm just writing a metoo article i'm inclined to not do so because i that's what i want to do i want to win so i don't know that's just me though but that's not because it won't get paid views just that i like to win okay gumball degree says what do you think about websites that do really well on only posts of best x for y ah well today is an interesting question an interesting day for you so our search engine journal posted an article today about an update uh on reviews review posts and uh i i tried to kind of verify some of the information i didn't see where it was all coming from there so we'll see kind of what that looks like but i mean if you look at a search result today for um whatever apple watch bands and you google that today i let's just do it right now i wish i i don't even know how to share my screen so sorry everybody's gonna have to google this apple watch bands and when you google this um we see apple.com as the result best buy we see the watch bands right across the top and a carousel google's taking us to the end of the search journey where i guarantee five years ago when you would well did the apple watch exist whatever three years ago i guarantee if you would have searched that you would have seen a bunch of different blog posts of 21 best watch bands or best watch bands for fit people or whatever and so i do think it's an area of google search that i wouldn't go all in on of just best x for y stuff i wouldn't do that i feel like that's risky right now um but you know we we talk negatively about the best x for why because so many people just create these spam sites that i just don't feel is a future of a business but should you be writing best x for y content of course you should yes just make sure it's helpful and not just junk so yeah nothing wrong with it but i wouldn't do only that on a website btc minor what do you think about pinterest traffic we got a course in project 24 on pinterest we've investigated it a lot i mean years ago it was for the period of a couple of years that i got more traffic from pinterest than google but man pinterest has locked things down now and you know certainly a lot of people get traffic from pinterest it's worth going after if you're the right type of niche it you should do it but it is not what it used to be and so unless you really fit into the right type of niche and you're going to actively pin yourself getting on there not try i'd probably event uh avoid the kind of general tailwind strategy that everybody's used to do i mean i want they want you actually on pinterest it can work and it is worth doing but it's not what it used to be ricardo says hi jim i'm a project 24 member how do you handle topic niche fatigue resulting in losing interest in topics again and again writing 20 articles uh on a on a topic but then feeling the need to change oh man i totally feel you there um i definitely get bored of writing on topic i like being able to switch pretty regularly you know one thing i would recogni i might do is do a do your search analysis for the whole site and say hey this is my end game i'm going to write 60 70 posts on this website i think i could reliably say this is going to get revenue and i'm going to sit it there start a new website and build that up and then when that first website starts getting some real traffic maybe you start outsourcing that content so you aren't sitting clunking on keys there outsourcing has really been a way that's kept me sane because i can't write 200 posts on the same topic so i totally get that now we do still recommend focus on one site and really build it up and so maybe you get tired of the format and maybe you want to start doing a youtube channel on it or something like that to keep some motion going around that topic uh so be careful about just bouncing around to a million sites but outsourcing could be a way to go for you all right around how many posts on my blog do i need to make 10 000 us dollars a month coming from superman superman let's do some math all right so he wants to make ten thousand dollars a month i'm going to pull open my handy dandy calculator um and what we're gonna do is we're gonna take ten thousand dollars and then remember i did a youtube video a little bit ago about how how much your blogs can earn from 10 10 100 and 500 blog posts we found our surveyed average uh from many different websites was 29 and 8 cents per thousand page views so ten thousand dollars a month divided by twenty nine dollars and eight cents oh okay stop it stop ten one two three divided by twenty nine oh eight okay so we need 343 000 page views in order to do that if we're only making 29.8 cents a month now it seems like a lot when you get started but it's only a matter of time so it depends you know i mentioned fueling teens at the start of this live fueling teens.com is getting darn near a thousand page views per article per month even in a ymyl topic and so for them they need 343 blog posts but let's say you do half as well let's say you get 500 blog posts or 500 um page views a month from each article you'd need 686 blog posts now that seems crazy but what what happens if you on 686 blog posts what if it costs you on average a hundred dollars an article some smaller some bigger well maybe you spend 68 000 on those blog posts you could outsource the whole thing and then 68 000 turns into 10 grand a month i'll take that deal 100 times out of 100 right uh if you could spend 68 000 to earn 10 000 a month for the foreseeable future heck yes but all of that math as encouraging as it is really to me some people it just sounds like man that's a lot i'm never gonna get there um and for that i would say then you need to create a real business that twenty nine dollars for every thousand page views it's just that's low monetization and it is normal but it's low that's pretty much adds in some tiny bit of affiliate and so if you create a real business you know what if you're doing some consulting for the people on your websites what if you have an info product etc i mean we know people that get an apm p of 400 instead of 29 you know and so if you want to get to those higher numbers focus on the traffic first but then let's make a real business behind this thing and then getting to those higher income levels is totally doable this authentic life says hi i love the channel oh thank you that's very nice okay um ecom dimes says how to fix the core web vitals and get prepared for maze update okay there are things you can do get a theme that is going to do well on core web vitals uh acabato just released a big update the four core web vitals that oh we made some gaffes on we feel so bad about it and caused some uh errors we have fixed them now it's stable now but oh we feel so bad about it uh we're never going to let that happen again it only took us you know a few days to fix but oh it should never happen anyway so um acabatto uh is you know we've really taken it very seriously to see how we can fix that for people but check your theme see if they're updating and aware of it so the theme can do a few things one it can help you a lot with speed the other thing it can do is some of the cumulative layout shift you know when you go to a blog post and you go to click on something and all of a sudden an ad loads and it shifts everything around and i hate it when that happens um that's something as well that on the theme they can do things that going that are going to minimize that and so the theme is a is a big one the next one is hosting make sure your site's just running fast enough that's the time to first bite um as well as the the first content full paint and last content full paint that'll matter uh with your your host but the big caveat on all of it is google uses these updates as a scare tactic honestly um they told us forever oh we're gonna hammer you in the search results if you don't have ssl we're gonna do it we're gonna do it and then it came out and it was like this less than one percent shift if you didn't have ssl now we think you should have ssl but it just google sometimes like tries to scare us into action i kind of feel like that's what's going to happen as well with core web vitals so i wouldn't lose any sleep over it chase reiner says keep up the good work guys hey thank you very much and everybody should check out that channel it's a good one all right um okay uh joy bowmak says how to research for writing content on a topic you don't have previous knowledge of separate your uh research time from your writing time and that's the the first thing you gotta listen to podcasts in your niche i am never ever driving in a car listening to music i mean it just does not happen because that's valuable research time for me i go out and go on a walk uh every day and i am listening to podcasts because i want to have my mind filled with knowledge so when i go to write when i go to make a youtube video it's one stream of knowledge that comes out so separate that the other thing is just set a clock for yourself give yourself pace say hey 30 minutes now for now i have to know it otherwise things take as much time as we give them and so set that clock and do it you're going to get better at finding the type of information to the point that eventually people are never going to know that you spent 30 minutes researching you can write expert level content with quick research if you're doing those things okay how to research for writing content on a topic when you oh you guys are moving the chat so quickly i lost it um okay we'll go to s mchugh says which is best for search volume google auto suggests pre-fill versus people also ask i'm gonna sorry leave you hanging on that one the new version of our blogging course is going to dramatically change how we do this and that's coming out may 3rd so all project 24 members no matter when you've bought you're of course getting all the update to the brand new blogging course and we have a pretty dramatic shift in how we're doing that i'm going to talk about that a little bit more in monday's youtube video as well all right z views says what's the best affiliate program for windows and software niche software niche that's an industry but i will give you an a few ideas of things that i've seen as big opportunities so sas companies often give really handsome affiliate payouts because they're earning recover recurring revenue from the person and so i would look at uh kind of corporate software things for example some of the content is so cruddy out there when i moved so our offices in idaho where ricky and nathan and the whole team is up there um i move from there down to southern utah i live in st george now this is my home office and so i was going to start telecommuting with our team and man i was really nervous about what that would be so i started googling trying to find good software for for team communication and it was this hodgepodge of zoom and slack and blah blah blah and trello boards or we use click up just all different things for project management it was a nightmare and i mean i spent three to four full working days trying to find a good tech stack for us so that we could be in great communication with each other i googled it for days i just wasn't finding anything when i was looking for team communication software and stuff and then i happened upon google or microsoft teams now i haven't aversioned everything microsoft um but i thought okay i'll try it and for our team it's been incredible i mean it's really powerful it was clunky getting it set up because it's microsoft once we set it up man it's been like it's been as good or better than when i was in the office for communication i can easily pop in on people and we're keeping track of projects better it saved us money over our frankenstein system and i read all those blog posts reviewing team communication software nobody talked about google teams why no affiliate deal and hmm i just hate that that's what our industry is and so if you're going to do something like this for software actually use the software actually know what the stuff is actually test and try and show what you're doing and you just won't have to worry about about future google updates and what your business is going to become you won't have to worry about competition you're gonna crush them when you're actually doing things people can tell and google can tell so if you're gonna do it just do a good job at it okay keto twins i tried keto by the way it was not for me okay i just started a site with squarespace because of the easy interface do you think this is going to hurt my ad revenue when i eventually try to monetize my site in the future yes and i think you should turn back now so i love squarespace i think it's a really incredible uh software and i was a customer of squarespace for a decade because i used it for my photography portfolio site it was easier than using wordpress when i just wanted to quick toss up a photo on there not need to resize it and a bunch of things for that tiny little business website it was awesome if you're starting a content business i wouldn't go with squarespace there are so many corners where you're just blocked in and you can't do it how you want to do it whereas on wordpress you're just never going to be like blocked in squarespace is incredibly powerful but turn back now if you're a content business it's just not for you i'll i'll just say it straight because i think it's important um bitcoin miner you're kind of spamming the form here we might need to give you a little pause here sorry dude sorry come back in a minute you're putting time out how was spam okay um it's kind of nerve-wracking doing these google lives because i don't have anybody else to read the questions before so i just start reading your question and hope it's not something like by the way you're the ugliest person i've ever seen you know okay sorry uh now your comment's gone all right sorry sam boringer says when you run out of content ideas on your niche is it bad for seo to go broad and add new categories or should you instead start a brand new niche website and as much as humanly possible i'd open up a new category rather than starting fresh it takes forever for google to start noticing your website and so why start over i would definitely build one big site rather than a zillion small sites um i i think in general it's best but make sure you're not picking so broad of a niche that you can't totally dominate it as well so it's a little bit of a fine line and the way you do it and we're always kind of trying different versions of that strategy to see the best way the best size of a site um yeah there are a lot of different ways you can win here but in general start a new category way easier to do all right um abelash thomas says quiz website with answers in video what's your opinion i'm sorry i don't understand i'm not quite sure what that means okay roberto diaz del pinal says does having different writers under the same author affect your seo essentially this is an interesting one so when we sold outdoor troop jeff really cool guy he took where we had a lot of different writers and he put them under the same user accounts in wordpress and he felt like it gave him a really big shot uh that it improved the seo and i looked at the numbers and boy it is uh it is a compelling case study i want to do some more testing before i come for sure say that that's the case but um it did look good it is something we're doing with many of our websites we're having writers write it under a bunch of different accounts for ease of use at our writing center but then we're combining them into user accounts when we actually publish j plus k um recently discovered a high domain authority website is substantially rewriting my content oh it takes me off the structure is the same the ideas are the same titles are the same they just rewrite the paragraphs because of the high domain authority they're outranking some articles any ideas sorry man i'm sorry that's happening i i it's very frustrating when this happens google has just totally absolved themselves of responsibility i think very um unprofessional of them to do so and irresponsible that they're just not even making an effort to find out who the original uh writer was and google said that straight out they said we don't care who the original was if if they're outranking you with the same content you probably have some some quality issues on your site and i just don't think that's true i mean i could take anybody's blog post push it put it on my website and find ways to improve upon it when that works already been done and so i i really hate that that's google google's approach unfortunately it's it's probably a legal approach but if they're rewriting substantial portions of it i don't even know if you can get there um enabled if you're able to get there one strategy could be um to uh kind of dump a bunch of content at once to kind of slip some past them you could try if it is an actual copyright issue to file a copyright claim on google you can file on google search or copyright claim now they're not going to be able to take it down but i've got to think that's going to hammer somebody's seo if they're getting consistent copyright claims um sometimes we've seen this in project 24 and i think that could be a strategy you know could you talk to other members who may be seeing something and everybody send in a copyright notice in a short amount of time now be sure it's legit and you really can make a copyright claim but that's frustrating i would say in general if that's a business i own that we're having that issue i'm probably going to start focusing on making some motion around my website um you know can we start a youtube channel around it a podcast just to start getting some motion go through the eat course to do some things uh it may just be a little bit of a slog to get to get past it sorry you're dealing with that that's frustrating all right see carl says a local garage door business on wix would you uh you blog on wix2 or link on a wordpress blog as maybe this oh yeah no i would if your local business website is on wix and you're just going to be doing some blogging to try to get some traffic i'd stick with wix i think that's fine i think wix and squarespace are excellent solutions for small businesses a lot of small businesses should choose them over wordpress they're it's powerful software but if you're a content business that's where i say nah you got to go to wordpress all right s s mchugh says jim i've been in project 24 for eight months 36 articles published uh three to four ranking with a number one snippet that's good i'm buzzing to see what's to come in the future thank you aiming for 100 plus articles way to go that's nice starting to see some of the articles get ranked is where i start to breathe a sigh of relief because you kind of you're proving yourself as a writer hopefully that's coming with some traffic too uh it stinks when we rank number one but don't get any traffic from it uh but i i think that's good that's what we want to see at that at that stage keep pumping out the content though i'd love to see a little bit maybe quicker on the content all right um how to collect leads with quizzes yeah i i think it can work really well um to use quizzes i haven't done this in quite a while but i used to use it a ton on improved photography uh where we do quizzes on different things and and try to get their uh their email address in fact it wasn't always like you know what disney princess are you kind of quizzes sometimes it was just like you know an article on uh on whatever landscape photography and i just say hey i made a fun quiz for you to improve your knowledge check it out below uh and they actually worked really well we got a ton of email addresses from it uh musselman voice says big fan here hello thank you thanks for being here um mom van up says no traffic growth at all in month two to four that's okay i'm gonna start getting a little bit nervous at month six if we don't see any growth whatsoever but month two to four it's the ghost town it's okay um all right ricardo says uh income school generally focuses on b2c content such as hobbies uh what's your take on b2b content where there's a lot of existing uh companies yeah it's just i like i'm i'm just a hobby guy i just love hobbies you i mentioned in a youtube video last week i bought a hot air balloon i was so excited to learn how to fly that thing um i just love hobbies right now uh we've been getting into mountain biking and canyoneering and rappelling and climbing and uh hot air ballooning just like every few months i have a new hobby and so for me it just makes sense and so um you know really is there really a change in strategy when you're writing about you know software for companies no it's really the same stuff we just often use those examples because i'm a hobby not grease i like them they're fun i just like learning stuff all right lenny ramirez says how do you use google analytics well kind of a broad question here but i will make a point about something that i've been thinking about lately um we made a video showing you google analytics 4 and i do think we should be upgrading to it we're just gonna have to learn the new system but oh my goodness i have spent over an hour somebody needs to show me how to do this i spent over an hour i just want to see what the top pages on my website are ranked by organic search traffic i can't figure out how to do it in the new google analytics and the old google analytics i can do that about 20 seconds i can do it with my eyes closed but there are just a few things in the new google analytics that i cannot figure out uh so maybe if you're having a lot of trouble with it just go back to the old google analytics for a little bit until they kind of update some of the things in here but i do think google analytics 4 is the future you can however write him do both of them you can run both codes and and run both at once which i found out after that video i didn't know that okay um gurov solenki says uh a hot air balloon blog is on the way okay that's actually kind of interesting so we wrote just a small batch of hot air balloon content on outdoor troop before we sold it it didn't perform very well and it really got me thinking about search analysis what could i have done to know that beforehand we ranked number one or high for a lot of the terms but just wasn't bringing in the traffic and so that's my fault doing the search analysis what could i have done to avoid that and you know i've learned now that there are only 2 500 licensed hot air balloon pilots in all of the united states only 2 500. if all of them googled all of my terms every single month it still wouldn't be a very big website and so i need to only focus at the base of the pyramid which there aren't that many things there um and so frankly it's just not a vlog it's just just not a good topic for a blog it needs to be bigger maybe we include uh you know hang gliders and different things and stuff in there but um it is something you got to be aware of when you're going into an itch how big is this to make sure there is that that uh space for you mindfully wellness says love your content very nice of you i started a blog three months ago and i've gotten fellow preschool teachers at our school in austria oh i love austria austria is beautiful um into blogging as teachers for art and home careers very cool glad to see that um oh what kind of plug-in do i wish we had as a wordpress user can i share my screen i might be too dumb for this can i do that i don't know i'm gonna have to learn that man i was gonna show you a preview of what our new plug and refer is going to do it's our affiliate plugin it's in pretty advanced stages of development right now i would guess we're maybe six weeks out from having our beta and then it'll probably be you know at least another six weeks to make sure everything's dialed so we got a while but it's uh it's changed the industry kind of stuff there are some really really powerful uh plugins out there for managing affiliate links that are pretty cool um but we went to the drawing board i mean me ricky and nathan just sat in a room for days and days and days and talked about like how do we increase affiliate revenue how do we get more clicks to the affiliate links and i'm pretty excited about some of the stuff we're doing i don't want to tip my hand too much but that's what i would want to have for that and we're building it so it's coming but we got a while it's uh definitely the most ambitious software program a software thing we've done all right djeton1 says good afternoon jim um do you think cultural niches are a way to go i was thinking about doing a blog on black software developers and tutorials to make them better any similar case studies i don't love that i really don't the reason is uh you know if we're talking about tutorials and stuff for software development does it matter what color your skin is um and and the reason i say that is i'm not saying there isn't value in uh talking to a certain cultural audience what i am saying is if whatever my race is purple and i'm googling how to do something in a song in software i don't google like um how to do x y or z and microsoft teams for for purple people that doesn't make any sense right and so i would be really careful in project 24 we call this creating an artificial distinction and that that sounds like what it's like it's just for 99 of the search terms that you write on it won't matter the race of the person reading it and so how are you even going to attract those people now i i fully think there could be some value in talking to a particular cultural culture or race of people in whatever niche sure but how do you really attract them if it's mostly an artificial distinction and the things you're going to write about and so i don't love that niche for that reason um what are your tips for using the divi theme so i love divi there are a lot of great builders and i use divi a lot when we're trying to do really custom stuff with all of our just content sites that we're creating it's all on acabato we made that that theme for a reason but when we're trying to do like a really custom thing incomeschool.com for example i just worked on the redesign of the sales page or the home page i need to get to the sales page next um it's it's all divi it's just cool what it allows you to do um but i would say you need to be maybe even to the point of calling yourself a web designer before you use it most people that are new even intermediate in in web design that i see go jump to divi i look at the site and it's like they shouldn't have given you the ability to take control like that so my number one tip for using divi is go find a whole go look through a zillion of the different little divi layouts and say oh that box would be really cool on the sales page to do this and then save just that section to your library look through a bunch of other layouts ooh that's a cool section and frankenstein them together you can just import different sections and it looks like you have a super custom page so that's the way that i'm using it most of the time [Music] okay don drison says divi has promised a speed uh update before the may core update that's good because divi ain't fast it's slow um so i'd love to see that i hope that's true that they aren't going to make an act a meaningful change all right uh sorry this chat's moving so quick i've got to like just pick one and read it um okay oh let's look at one this one is called sharpen code.com sharpencode.com let's go crash the website has a 130 articles and they're earning nothing sharpen code.com let's take a look how much you'll see how much traffic this thing's getting okay interesting uh design here kind of feels like this is a a palm reader a website when i first come up here um interesting well look at these articles i'm sorry i wish i could show you my screen but you guys can go to sharpencode.com like the first article i see is called auto.net okay like that's the title of it just auto.net that's the title what about it i click on it and i see an h1 tag is getting started with auto.net pretty kind of bland title here and the article is maybe 500 words long that just wasn't helpful if i'm trying to get started in auto.net kindle ui getting started with kendo ui again maybe this is a 500 word article uh it's just that's not a very good good page for getting started with it [Music] okay don't go to sharpen code.com because now [Music] you got the computer you got some malware on your site sharpencode.com you got some serious malware going on um and so why is the website not getting traffic with 130 articles i'm sorry but it wasn't very useful and you got malware um yeah there's a lot of work to do on the website okay um next one high turtle hd uh what do you think about making a site that doesn't have a niche but is just more of a general blog okay this is something i've always wanted to do um i'm just going to give you my full idea because i was thinking about this this morning so we have our website contentwarrior.com i mentioned earlier we're starting to sell articles people can outsource some of the writing on their site to us and there are many other great companies especially project 24 members that do it you should continue to support them that's awesome and you shouldn't outsource content until you're ready until you really know your stuff gotta add those disclaimers at thecontentwarriorwebsite.com is it coming soon right now we're probably about two two weeks away before we're ready to hit uh full steam there but we're doing some beta clients right now um oh my gosh i just lost my train of thought um oh yeah okay so a totally random site with no niche so here's my thought um sometimes we have excess capacity right and so we're just have uh people writing stuff where somebody may submit an article we write it and then whatever they didn't like it or they didn't pay whatever we just have this random leftover article right and so i want to start a website that's just like randomizer just articles on everything just super random mostly as an seo experiment it's not a good seo strategy to do that by any means because you won't get any topical authority but i want to try it just because i like to try everything um and so i thought you know i am tempted to call it like post randomizer.com or something that just be funny for me but i thought but how do we do well on search results and they want to see something authoritative like i i think i want to call it something like armorresearch.com so and then like make it look like very academic uh on the website just with the design and the name and then just have them writing these uh just random blog posts i just wonder if your click-through rate would really improve by having a name like armor research but then my name ends with an r or harmer and then it just doesn't sound as good as like pew research or something maybe we need maybe we'll take like uh we have nate on our team nate black so maybe we'll do like black research or anna silver silver research uh kaufman research with andrew i don't know i don't know what it is but i want to do a site like that i think it should be a cool seo experiment um [Music] how do you stay focused on writing for hours for a topic that requires a lot of research um you know if i'm honest i don't have that problem i i really don't i i eat this stuff up i just live eat sleep and breathe this kind of stuff and when you've seen the reward enough of writing an article and then getting the result back from it like when there's some work that just you gotta grind it out i don't really care it's okay with me i i enjoy that even so um want it you got it you gotta wanna if you want the result you're gonna do the work it takes to get there right that's a newspaper jim what is i don't know what it is oh maybe one of the websites i said okay i have a new website with 34 blog posts in the digital marketing niche but i get no traffic please what kind of seo can i do sorry a little broad there i don't know what your seo problem is there are a lot of different things that could cause seo issues jerry burns says should i disavow links on my website i have lots of spam links directed to it probably not um unless you're a pretty advanced seo you probably shouldn't be messing with the disavow tool unless you've had a manual action every website has spammy links pointed to it every website does every single time every single time i've sold a major site we hear back from a buyer that says oh i just typed this in to check the backlink profile and it's got a ton of spammy links to it what kind of link building have you done and we're like we've done none but bots always find your site and always send spammy links and so um it's normal an organic site does have spammy links to it we've had so many people do negative seo on our sites it's just normal to see a bunch of spammy uh links uh coming to a site it's just okay if you get a manual action then it's time to jump in but most people who start using the disavow tool real aggressively uh end up harming their website they aren't sure what to disavow and what not to um so i just be aware of that so i and i should say for those that are maybe more beginners when a website links to you especially if it's kind of a spammy site it could look negative to google like you're trying to manipulate search results so they have a disavow tool where you can go and say hey just don't count this link toward me to order against me linda bart says should i wait for the updated project 24 before jumping in uh it's up to you i mean may 3rd is going to be the release date you're going to get everything in the in the new update um even if you start now but i would say the first several steps aren't going to be any different you know picking profitable niches that course is going to be the same and so probably be a really good time to jump in get your site set up on wordpress pick your niche and then but don't do the search analysis process right now don't maybe learn how to write articles right now because we're about to have a pretty substantial change to a lot of that um on may 3rd so a good time to get started but i probably wouldn't dig into that stuff yet um r gaming says can we become a millionaire through blogging yeah i did and i know a lot of people that have um okay brian moorhead do i need to worry about slugs being too long for google rankings i mean they've said before that yes the slug can get too long and it can start not mattering toward it but i mean if you have a short um url or a long one i just don't think it matters a whole lot i think really maybe the only place it matters is the click-through rate when people see just you know incomeschool.com select your niche that's not even a real uh thing it maybe looks like oh this is an important page here rather than how to select a niche 21 tips with hyphens you know so i think it really only matters as far as user preference not so much google all right um kevin tyrer says could i use my profession as an electrician in a website by using tips and self-help for people of course you can yeah i google electrician stuff all the time as i'm trying to uh do stuff around my house um is it wyom whale yeah but remember when i started this live i showed you fuelingteens.com and uh they're crushing it on a new website with no backlinking anything like that just absolutely crushing it in a very wild niche so it can absolutely be done uh speedy english says how to become your affiliate first you have to be a project 24 member but we do give very healthy commissions on people that refer people to project 24. go to incomeschool.com down i think in the footer nate's in charge of our affiliate program and he has an affiliate signup page there uh if you want to do that um do you buy bitcoin uh yeah i've i've done some bitcoin in the past i don't have any holdings right now it's up really really really high um and so i'm gonna wait for the next crash i feel like there's going to be another one um but yeah i'm going to buy in again i i think bitcoin is is really cool um but uh i don't like buying high on anything maybe i'm wrong maybe it's just the sky's the limit from here and we won't see another crash um but i kind of i kind of feel like it's pretty high right now we'll see all right um we're gonna take maybe three more questions and then i've got to go i've got to record a youtube video for monday uh in monday's youtube video i'm going to talk about a lot of the changes that we're making in our brand new version of of blogging uh our new approach uh for project 24 that's coming out may 3 the new the new course is um so i'm gonna kind of talk about a lot of the changes that we're making uh on monday's youtube video um all right how would you break into mindfulness as a competitive niche if you're asking me that question my answer is i wouldn't create a blog about it i'm going to create a youtube channel about it it's just i think it would be a lot easier because how many things are people actually googling about that you know i mean ask yourself this question what is the last time you read even the bulk of the 2000 word blog post like really think about that for a second hey tell me in the chat what's the last time you like sat down and spent 10 minutes reading a blog post everybody post in the chat what's the last time you did that um and then i guess the next question is after that what's the last time you went for advice not information you looked for advice in a blog post and you read a significant portion of the long blog post um it's just not as much as it used to be and so with something like mindfulness i feel like a youtube channel is just gonna be better uh in general not that it couldn't happen but um i i i just feel like it'd be a better approach right now all righty um two two more questions um all right whoops i'm in a country outside the united states i want to answer questions for people in the united states about my country is that a possible niche yeah sure it is just make sure you get enough search volume i really don't like geographically limited posts or especially niches because that's the advantage of the whole world you can write to and anybody in the world who googles this you can be an answer for so i don't love limiting things to just a country but it absolutely can work i i can think of one or two sites that have worked doing that it's just got to be a big country with a lot of search volume from people in the united states all right last question richard alba says my niche topic is huge on social media platforms meaning you're doing well on social media platforms but there aren't many google search phrases for the niche uh using the alphabet soup method he has 18 blog posts how could i come up with articles more people would look for so yeah you're just looking at ideation i mean go use some of the other tools as well maybe you want to dig into some of the seo tools there are some that are valuable maybe you want to go to looking at people also ask sections or something like answer the public they're just so many other ways to get ideas but really my main concern when i hear that question is if you can't come up with 18 questions just from your own brain and on your niche how much of you like have you done any learning in the niche yourself because you should be able to come up with a lot more than 18 questions without any tool at all of just things that you can write on now we want to be careful those aren't turned into textbook kind of chapters they need to be questioned still but to me that's a sign that maybe you haven't done enough research in the niche enough learning enough immersing yourself in the niche if we're tapped out at 18 that should really shouldn't be the case ever um unless your niche is just way way way too tiny thanks everybody for joining us on this youtube live looking forward to seeing you on monday love you guys i really appreciate all the support of everything we do i'm always rooting for you guys and hoping for your best success on your site love seeing everything you guys are doing just it keeps me going every day to see people hitting you know in project 24 all the different milestones we're just constantly seeing people going to full time 1 000 a month 500 a month it means a ton uh to me to to see that kind of progress so good job everybody and excited to see what you create
