[0:14] because of popular mainstream
[0:16] anime especially in the shonen genre
[0:19] so here is a list of some amazing shonen
[0:21] anime that didn't get the spotlight that
[0:23] it rightly deserved
[0:28] this is different to your typical shown
[0:29] in anime where the main protagonist only
[0:32] wants to have a normal peaceful life
[0:34] unfortunately he is cursed with having
[0:36] the greatest secret art of ninjas within
[0:39] him
[0:40] as a result he is the central target for
[0:42] both people who want to use it for bad
[0:44] or destroy him entirely before it's used
[0:46] incorrectly
[0:48] the strong point of this series is the
[0:49] complex character relationships as the
[0:52] story progresses
[0:53] it does have some great fights although
[0:55] it's not as action-packed as it could be

[1:07] this anime is essentially like watching
[1:09] an rpg game
[1:11] animated there is a leveling up system
[1:13] and a reward system which applies to
[1:15] both the good and bad guys
[1:18] it's set in a world where both humans
[1:20] and demons exist
[1:21] and the main protagonists are on a quest
[1:23] to cleanse the world and take revenge
[1:25] for the death of his brother
[1:27] a legendary hunter the concept is
[1:29] relatively straightforward and simple
[1:31] with a clear good versus bad scenario
[1:34] you party up level up gain skills get
[1:37] money
[1:38] and progress in your adventure overall a
[1:41] fun show to watch

[1:51] the lzbub is more focused on comedy but
[1:53] it is packed with plenty of action as
[1:55] well
[1:56] it definitely has some epic moments and
[1:58] powerful characters
[1:59] the story revolves around a powerful
[2:01] first-year student attending a school
[2:03] for juvenile delinquents
[2:05] unlike other protagonists he is strong
[2:08] from the start
[2:09] far tougher than your average high
[2:10] school student the main plot is that he
[2:13] has chosen to raise the baby of the
[2:14] great demon king
[2:16] and the more evil strong and arrogant
[2:18] the person is
[2:19] the better suited he is to becoming the
[2:21] official individual to raise the future
[2:23] demon king
[2:25] overall a great comedy and action-packed
[2:27] anime with a strong set of characters
[2:43] the plot revolves around two families
[2:45] that have protected one piece of land
[2:47] for generations from demons
[2:49] this land is filled with magic
[2:51] attracting many demons
[2:53] and it also happens to be where their
[2:54] school is located and so the main
[2:56] characters fight
[2:57] every night to protect this land from
[2:59] demons the story resembles both naruto
[3:02] and bleach however it has its own unique
[3:05] power system
[3:06] mysteries and relationships the
[3:09] characters are all equally interesting
[3:11] with both mysterious family members and
[3:13] rivalries
[3:15] we have the typical girl boy trio
[3:17] however unlike mainstream anime
[3:19] all three are equally developed with
[3:21] their own unique abilities that are
[3:22] powerful
[3:24] the animation of the fights was
[3:25] surprisingly great for an underrated
[3:27] show of that time
[3:29] more importantly the fights are well
[3:31] paced and not dragged for too long
[3:33] which makes them all the more exciting
[3:35] to watch
[3:51] one of my favorite aspects of this anime
[3:53] is the old school
[3:54] feel it gives a straightforward story of
[3:57] demons
[3:58] and a boy destined to save humanity
[4:01] the main characters are a 15 year old
[4:03] boy and a powerful demon
[4:05] both sharing a complex relationship this
[4:08] demon partner is often found saving the
[4:10] main character
[4:11] but that's because he wants to be the
[4:12] one to devour the main character one day
[4:15] however this complex relationship later
[4:18] transitions into loyalty
[4:20] and it's interesting to watch how their
[4:21] friendship evolves over time
[4:24] while the story can take some time to
[4:26] get used to as it is episodic in nature
[4:28] the story does pick up and reveal the
[4:30] true purpose of the beast spear

[4:49] if you are looking for epic battles and
[4:51] intense rivalries with a main
[4:53] protagonist that starts off super weak
[4:55] then this is the show for you this anime
[4:58] focuses on martial arts taken to the
[5:00] extremes
[5:02] the main character is terribly weak
[5:04] lacks confidence in his own abilities
[5:06] but never stops doing the right thing
[5:09] he has no talent or any special
[5:11] abilities but he was lucky in finding a
[5:13] group of world-class
[5:14] martial artists as his teachers as the
[5:17] anime progresses it transitions from
[5:19] fights at the high school level to far
[5:21] greater threats apart from action there
[5:24] is plenty of comedy
[5:25] which is equally great making it a great
[5:28] action comedy overall

[5:43] blue exorcist is about a boy who
[5:45] recently discovers he is the son of
[5:47] satan
[5:48] but in a very painful way and so he
[5:51] becomes an exorcist
[5:53] while hiding his true lineage to take
[5:55] revenge and kill satan
[5:57] there are two worlds here one inhabited
[6:00] by humans
[6:01] and the other by demons and demons can
[6:03] enter the human realm
[6:04] by possessions however satan is too
[6:07] powerful for any normal human to be a
[6:09] host which ends up with rin
[6:11] becoming caught up in the middle of both
[6:13] satan who wants to take over his body
[6:16] and fellow exorcists who are cautious of
[6:18] rin himself
[6:19] a potential risk to humanity

[6:31] dee grayman is one of the few anime that
[6:34] manages to give
[6:35] consistently good fight animations
[6:37] throughout the 100 episodes
[6:40] visually it has a much darker tone as
[6:42] opposed to the others on this list
[6:44] the early parts of this story progress
[6:46] in an episodic manner
[6:48] with many two to three episode arcs each
[6:50] focused on different characters
[6:52] which may not be to everyone's liking
[6:54] but the benefit of this
[6:55] is the detailed development of the
[6:57] characters we get each with their own
[6:59] unique past and
[7:01] the animation details and character
[7:03] design and background make it all so
[7:05] visually pleasing to watch
[7:07] the highlight of this show would be the
[7:09] action scenes and if that's what you
[7:10] enjoy the most
[7:11] then this is definitely for you

[7:27] world trigger starts off slow
[7:29] introducing the world
[7:31] concept and the characters before
[7:33] getting to the main story of fighting
[7:35] against invading enemies from other
[7:37] dimensions
[7:38] the main character is extremely weak but
[7:41] unlike others on the list
[7:42] he doesn't get strong fast or even
[7:45] talented at anything
[7:47] he is well aware of his weaknesses and
[7:49] also smart enough to use his limited
[7:51] ability
[7:51] and powerful friends to prevail in many
[7:54] situations
[7:55] often in anime the main character has a
[7:57] big role in the important fights
[7:59] putting them in the spotlight however
[8:02] that is not the case here
[8:03] he doesn't preach to the enemies and
[8:05] doesn't win via willpower
[8:07] he wins the battles he deserves to win
[8:10] and the ones he can't handle are dealt
[8:11] with by other stronger characters
[8:14] finally the power system is also very
[8:16] interesting
[8:17] as no one character has a unique ability
[8:20] they all share the same system but still
[8:23] allows for creativity in the use of
[8:24] powers
[8:25] preventing any one character to have
[8:27] ridiculous op traits
[8:29] if you can be patient to get over the
[8:31] initial slow phase
[8:32] this is a fantastic show to watch and
[8:35] best of all
[8:36] a season 2 is coming out in 2021
[8:47] the biggest reason for this anime's
[8:49] downfall was the initial 20 episodes
[8:51] that have no
[8:52] real plot but still play a role in
[8:54] introducing the characters
[8:57] otherwise this is a great anime with a
[8:59] unique setting of a mafia related story
[9:01] and the conflict with other mafia
[9:03] organizations
[9:05] the story follows a weak protagonist
[9:07] waking up one day to find out how he is
[9:09] to become the next head of one of the
[9:11] most powerful mafia organizations
[9:13] in existence he encounters various
[9:16] enemies throughout the story developing
[9:18] interesting powers as well as gathering
[9:20] and strengthening his own mafia family
[9:22] members
[9:23] the action scenes are also interesting
[9:25] with a wide variety of fight styles
[9:27] and power levels overall a great show
[9:30] that shouldn't be judged by the first 20
[9:34] episodes
