[00:02] work in a uni in The Faculty I worked for there was a Dr John Smith obviously not his real name Dr Smith was a well-liked member of The Faculty he would often be working late in his office or would you would meet him
[00:16] walking around in the Halls he didn't teach any classes but that's not unusual there are a lot of research only academic positions then one day Dr Smith suddenly stopped coming to his office people started to get concerned Mr Smith
[00:32] wasn't a young man did he have some sort of accident so it was decided to contact his home and if we couldn't contact him there he's next of kin it should have been a simple matter of looking up his name in the employee records for the
[00:47] faculty it should have been a simple matter of looking up his name in employee records hold on that's odd Dr Smith wasn't in the faculty records our faculty shared a building with another faculty I operated mostly out of the
[01:02] floor below us but it isn't out of the question that one of their staff had ended up in a on a room on our floor nope wasn't a member of The Faculty downstairs either in fact nobody by this guy's name was employed anywhere on the
[01:18] University by this point we were very confused so we use the master key to open the door to his office inside we discovered that his offers had been transformed into a neat little bedroom took a bit more investigation and a bit
[01:34] of time but we worked out what had happened John Smith was a homeless man at some point he had found an empty office in our building he wrote his name on a sheet of paper and taped that paper to the door of the office then
[01:48] maintenance had gone through seen the paper on the wall door and replaced it with a proper plaque then John Smith had gone to a different member of the maintenance team pointed out that this was his name on the door so it was
[02:02] obviously his room and he had lost his keys and asked for his keys to be replaced the reason why John was no longer the reason why John no longer came to the faculty anymore with his fortunate enough to find a more secure
[02:17] form of Housing and no longer needed this bedroom curiously at the time curiously during this time we were looking for an expert in Social Engineering in computer security social engineering is the art of using people's
[02:34] mistakes and their assumptions to gain access to things you're not supposed to little did we know we already had a social engineering expert within our
[02:46] social engineering expert within our faculty
