[00:03] sure you're curious what it is. Yes, me and Alli are still happily married and no, she's not pregnant. She better not be. We did just get a cute little dog, Annie, but that's not the big update. This big life change will result in way [00:19] better videos for you guys and already have a lot in the works. But, uh Let me explain. You're probably wondering why we're moving. Well, it boils down to space. Not square footage of this house. This is plenty big for [00:34] our family, but space for making YouTube videos, that's a different story. I've been mainly using this extra bedroom for everything. Both Alli and my desk are in here where we edit content. Plus, filming tons of these videos all happen [00:48] in here, too. It's a very productive tiny room, but I have these super limited windows when I can talk to the camera without interfering with my family and things always pop up like, uh playdates, talking on the phone, the [01:01] dog barking. You get it. It's difficult to film with the family right here. For 3-year-old are off hiding in a bedroom back there so they don't interfere with this. Not fun. Not only that, but I've had this one closet and a shelf in the [01:16] garage to store any kind of camera studio gear and extra smart home tech I need for videos. It's a non-stop juggling act trying to manage it all and sometimes it gets so overwhelming that it affects my productivity. I've [01:28] considered a separate office space to work and film videos, but that never felt right. This channel is about smart home tech and how my family and I are using it in our own home. So, an office or a separate house feels like I would [01:42] lose that authenticity. That's why we made the difficult decision that it's time to move because we need a different space to work. You see, for years, maybe the last 10 years, I've been dreaming about the perfect place to make smart [01:56] home videos. In my head, it's always a look like this. A house that's the most ideal smart home that rarely changes. Got to keep that high spouse approval score. And a separate building next to the house to film and test smart home [02:09] tech, where I won't bother anyone. Well, I'm happy to say that dream is finally I'm happy to say that dream is finally becoming a reality. I'm so excited. We found a house not too far away from here that checks all the boxes. It has an [02:23] attached shop that has its own AC, so I can work out there all day long. But of thermostats, door locks, doorbells, window shades, and all the annoying things that interrupt family life. I can't tell you how many devices I [02:36] haven't been able to test because I can only put my family through so much. And that includes me, too. It's very difficult to build a reliable smart home, only to have it break because I'm testing out new smart home devices. I [02:50] think this new house will solve all my problems that's really holding me back from making more videos right now. Not only that, but I plan on documenting everything as I set up this new smart home. It's a 13-year-old house with not [03:02] a whole lot of smarts, so there will be some unique challenges. But I can't wait to take you along for the ride. I'll be covering everything across both this channel and my second channel. The second channel will get more into the [03:14] weeds and how I set everything up. The main channel will be a little more high-level and polished, that way it's easier to follow. But I think both will example, if you want to know what it [03:26] takes to move a smart home plus all the tech that I'm leaving or taking with me from this house, I made a video on the second channel about that, which I'll said at the beginning, the videos going forward are going to be way better for [03:39] you guys, and I'm over the moon ecstatic about the future. But it is hard to say goodbye. Like this is the last video I'm filming in this house. Sad. We've made lots of good memories and fun videos while we've been here. And when we moved [03:53] here, our oldest was only six and we still had Luna. Our family has changed a lot and so is the business. But all this wouldn't be possible without you guys watching and supporting the channel for the last eight or nine years. I feel so [04:07] lucky and blessed that you guys watch these videos. I would have never guessed in a million years when starting this YouTube channel that we would be here. Seriously, thank you so much. I love making these videos and interacting with [04:19] you guys and figuring out this smart home space together. I can't wait to we're closing on the new house, so by the time this video goes live, it's probably official. So yeah, lots of good stuff coming soon and thanks for [04:34] stuff coming soon and thanks for watching.
