[00:01] YouTubers that is the group of people who use computer animated avatars to create content was rocked by a major conflict this conflict was between nux taku one of the largest v-tubers that is unaffiliated with any sort of company
[00:17] I.E he's an independent V tuber and V Shoujo the largest YouTuber talent Shoujo the largest YouTuber talent agency in the US after a year has passed exactly what has happened during that conflict has gotten confused and mixed
[00:30] up so this video is going to go over that timeline of events and explain what happened I know that there are people who even before they watch this video have made up their mind some of you will even comment on this video before
[00:44] watching it to keep the comment section clean I'm going to use a tactic stolen from a much more dubious website I'm going to give you a code word at the end of this video if you do not include this code word in your comment I am going to
[00:59] remove your comment nak's taku started off as an anime analysis Channel and then he expanded into comedy spectacle and online pranks while the Shoujo manages streamers such as iron Mouse the largest of YouTuber on Twitch and quite
[01:16] often the largest female streamer on that platform and project Melody a Trailblazer in adult only YouTuber content the Shojo was founded as a talent first vtuber agency which gives their talent a lot of autonomy in
[01:31] particular their talent retains the intellectual property rights to their intellectual property rights to their YouTuber designs and they receive all the money earned through direct fan funding the company makes its money via
[01:44] a split of merchandising and sponsorship deals its role is mostly to provide management legal and technical support for the vtuber talents running under the V Shoujo umbrella for reasons of both personal safety and I was a part of the
[02:01] artistic tradition of youtubing vtubers are typically pseudonymous they perform under the name of their character and keep their wallet name and other personal detail secret one of the advantages that vshoujo gives is an
[02:17] additional layer of protection to their talents as the corporate person of Avi talents as the corporate person of Avi Shoujo can engage in business and legal transactions without the danger of the V tubers exposing their legal identities
[02:31] with the basic introductions out of the way we now have to discuss how I'm going to take single items of evidence and transform that into a more full understanding of the situation especially when we have conflicting
[02:45] statements I am going to make use of a few tools Occam's razor when there are two explanations that are equally as good I will go for the explanation that requires the least assumptions there is one not why to be right but there are
[03:01] one not why to be right but there are limited ways to be wrong that means if we make an assumption it is harder to make a correct assumption than an incorrect assumption an explanation that requires fewer assumptions leaves less
[03:14] room for error halon's razor never attribute to malice what is equally explainable by stupidity stupidity is common it is easy to make mistakes intelligent action requires effort but
[03:29] anybody can operate off of incorrect information malice requires active effort and is for the most part harder to do where there is something that can be equally explained by stupidity as malice I will pick stupidity
[03:43] extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence there is also a corollary to this ordinary claims require ordinary evidence if there is
[03:55] something if something is common you don't require a lot of evidence to support it with our principles established let's talk about what established let's talk about what happened in the northern spring of 2020
[04:07] a group of harassers started to Target V Shoujo with among other things doxing attempted swatting and other forms of harassment the evidence we have for this occurring are the logs between naps and the Shojo security team this is further
[04:23] the Shojo security team this is further supported by the V Shoujo Talent Nana's supported by the V Shoujo Talent Nana's Discord message to a friends and iron Discord message to a friends and iron mouses stream about the events it is
[04:35] very common for celebrities especially female celebrities to be targeted for female celebrities to be targeted for harassment this is unfortunately a very ordinary claim as an additional support for this claim by looking at archival
[04:48] copies of various websites we can find people boasting about harassing vishojo Talent even going so far as there is a person who claimed that they the
[05:00] gravestone of a talent's relative and desecrated it doxing and swatting are crimes that are potentially deadly it is even more risky for the veto Joe Talent iron Mouse due to her being immunocompromised a police raid could
[05:15] end up killing her through infection even if no bullet is shot
[05:28] company they advised V Shoujo to keep quiet about the harassment since the Shoujo being quiet about them being harassed is a big factor in what happens harassed is a big factor in what happens next we need to talk about why they were
[05:42] advised to do this there are two reasons for this from the earliest days of the internet even before the never-ending September that we are still in the advice has always been don't feed the trolls trolls exist to get a rise off of
[05:57] you any attention given to them will encourage them to continue this is unfortunately led to Spirals where people with mental illness have been harassed the stress of their harassment has caused their mental illness to get
[06:11] worse and then they act out because of that which in turn has resulted in more harassment the second reason has to do with police investigations the first rule of operational security for investigations is that information
[06:25] Nation goes into the investigation but information doesn't go out of the investigation why because when you're investigating a criminal activity each time you get hold of a bit of evidence or other information can help you work
[06:40] out where to look to find more however if the criminal finds out what you know they can work out what's the next step in the investigation should be and go and destroy the evidence before you can find it this has led to the FBI for
[06:55] example not even acknowledging if somebody is or isn't under investigation until they start the actual prosecution since the Shoujo was working with the police in this matter and since they want to ensure a prosecution they were
[07:10] limited in what they could announce to the public talent of the Shoujo breaks down we know that nux and V Shoujo started to get
[07:27] into Rocky territory in their relationship because in her stream iron mouse that they had a friendship breakup well before the events that will take place we also have Nana's account of the situation but for someone like nux who
[07:43] has consistently used my friends for clickbait views and has done things like tried to beat my friend into watching the Logan Paul suicide forest video on stream and secretly recorded a private call with another one of my friends
[07:57] without permission and then proceeded to use said call to make a video it's clear that our safety or feelings about any of this is not the priority this is also confirmed by the gun runs comment staff's context there is a negative
[08:13] and nux that lead us to proceed with extreme caution if the relationship between nuts and the Shoujo was cordial they would not be handling him like he
[08:25] is radioactive also we have Melody's tweet I trusted and defended him only to feel secondary to getting clicks you don't have to go around defending
[08:37] going on [Applause] sakhi Nightshade nuk realizes that this is fake and contacts V Shoujo wanting to
[08:54] recruit more YouTubers the Shoujo publishes a call for auditions the doxing gang took advantage of this they got hold of a look-alike domain to the official V Shoujo domain and sent out an email impersonating the Shoujo to nux
[09:11] email impersonating the Shoujo to nux and Saki we know that nuts and Saki were emailed from statements that they have made also after V Shoujo gained access to the docs's server and later to the doctors themselves vichojo stated that
[09:27] only nux and Saki were targeted no other people have come forward to say that they were on the receiving end of a phishing email so we can be very confident nux and Saki were the only two targeted in this before I continue I
[09:44] would like to make a diversion to talk about how these scams often work the con artist starts by approaching The Mark with a lie that the Mark wants to believe the lie could be that they've been accepted into an agency They will
[09:58] receive money or that they are special and good in some way if the Mark wants something to be true they will do half of the con jobs job for them next comes
[10:10] build up and convincing in order to build the Mark's confidence in the artist they give the mark something that proves the con man's legitimacy perhaps Forge documents that look like the real thing in this case they used fake
[10:25] websites and Forge contracts to look like genuine vitrojo interactions the final stage is the hurray where the con man uses the confidence that Mark has in
[10:37] them to achieve their goals so in this example it was the private details of the people involved however scan games like this can fail what they are being told is to them is a lie nuts had not applied for membership in V Shoujo so he
[10:52] knew that the acceptance email was impossible he checked with the Shoujo management who confirmed that the message was false message was false [Music]
[11:08] warning to Twitter that there was someone going around impersonating the someone going around impersonating the Shoujo at this point the JoJo's CEO the gun run said the following to nux they wanted to make you aware that this
[11:20] individual impersonating vishojo is driven by attention and are afraid your tweets or any potential content you make shining a larger light on this would further encourage them to Target you vtubers including the Shojo members and
[11:33] others note the warning the gun run made about any potential content and the risk that it could present to the Shoujo members there are two things I would like to point out about this gun run advised against making any content which
[11:50] included videos and that gunrun didn't directly say that nux wasn't allowed to make content to understand the events further on it's important to State the
[12:02] limitations that V Shoujo is working under in the law corporations are people people that can be sued however the only way a corporation can do anything is if
[12:14] somebody acts on behalf of the corporation so a lot of law is about working out if a person was acting on their own working as an agent of a corporation one of the ways this is determined is can the corporation give
[12:31] or deny permission to your actions if the gun run acts like he has the power the gun run acts like he has the power to deny or permit nux's actions it is possible that V Shoujo would get tangled up in any legal action taken against
[12:48] nuts even if the shojo's lawyers could remove the Shoujo from the lawsuit it still would be costly to them so the gun run can't act in a way that looks like
[13:00] he has control of what nuck says all he can do is give advice about but what he can do is give advice about but what he thinks nux should do he can't tell nux what to do without the potential of getting sued
[13:15] getting sued [Music] somebody contacts nux at around this point in time somebody claiming to be a friend of the doctors approached nut we don't know this person's name so I'm
[13:30] going to assign them the code name of William Martin William told nux that he had discovered that their friends had doxed him and being a friend of nux William wanted to inform on his friends two knocks he gave nuts further
[13:45] information about the doctors including a video that gave some elements of the a video that gave some elements of the doctor's identity to nux but should we believe William let's consider two possible scenarios scenario one Williams
[14:01] is friends with people who engage in harassment for fun he has no moral problems with his friends risking other people's lives for their Amusement until he finds out that his favorite streamer nux is the target something that William
[14:17] nux is the target something that William only finds out about after the doxing gang knows that the fishing attempt failed so much is his loyalty to nux he's willing to betray his friends to that streamer scenario 2 the doctors
[14:31] knowing that they had been rumbled which to distract the investigation from themselves by attempting to frame somebody else for their crimes before we discuss which one is more likely let's talk about how much these events
[14:46] resemble the structure of a scam if scenario 2 is true the Mark nux is approached with a lie he wants to believe that William is a part of his community his community is everywhere and is loyal to him nuk spends much of
[15:02] the time on the video that he will release praising William Martin and boasting about his community if William is fake then this is a lie that nuts very much wanted to believe the build up and convincing William gives nux
[15:16] information only people connected to to the doxing gang would know finally the hurray Knox is fed false information framing somebody other than the doctors framing somebody other than the doctors with the information from William nux's
[15:31] investigation continued after another fan approached him saying that he had further information boxes I'm going to give this fan the code name of Garbo Garbo claimed to be a system administrator for the website only fans
[15:48] when you register to become an adult Creator on only fans due to U.S law you have to submit proof of your identity to them to prove that you're an adult that can legally produce porn so adult sites have to keep on hand a repository of
[16:05] driver's licenses passports and government issued ID Garbo gave nux further information about the doxers by looking up the doctor's name in the only
[16:17] looking up the doctor's name in the only fans ID repository I used to work in it and had to deal with personally identifying information also known as identifying information also known as pii when I've had such a role I was
[16:29] always told the same thing if you misuse or leak this information we will fire you we will sue you and the government will arrest and prosecute you if this Scarborough person was real he must be lose your job and livelihood loyal to
[16:46] lose your job and livelihood loyal to nuts about the video he's going to post nux posts to Twitter that he's about to
[16:59] release a video about the fishing attempt concerned about this the Shoujo attempt concerned about this the Shoujo contacted nux using Phoenix their lead of security as their point man for this discussion before we talk about
[17:13] discussions they had I want to First explain about low and high contact communication Let's Pretend for example you live in a culture where if you ask somebody to do something it contains the implication that you are their Superior
[17:30] because in this culture the person who is in the dominant position is the one who directs the person in the submissive position due to this it is considered rude to ask a peer to do something for you also this culture might view being
[17:46] considerate to others and anticipating their needs good and Noble so by asking a person to do something you are taking away that opportunity to be Noble so in
[17:58] this culture would you ask your partner to mow the lawn in such a culture you would say something like hmm next door's lawn is getting long I hope they mow it soon your partner would be expected to notice that our lawn is also getting
[18:13] lawn and spontaneously start mowing this allows them to keep their dignity by not being placed into a subservient role it also show their generosity by doing the task this is called high context communication where the timing and
[18:29] context of what is being said carries a lot of the information more than the actual words contrast this with a different culture one where if you ask somebody to do something for you it carries an obligation that they will do
[18:45] something nice for you in return or a culture where speaking directly is considered to reference present confidence and trustworthiness in such a culture the same indirect request would be considered rude it would sound
[18:59] passive aggressive and come across as if the requester was trying to avoid the obligations to reciprocate this is called low context communication keep in
[19:12] mind that neither low context or high comp text communication is more or less polite but rather they are considered polite within their own cultures the
[19:24] other thing to remember that cultures are not uniformly high or low context but exist within a spectrum where various people will favor different heights of context depending on the situation since you've gotten this far
[19:40] I'm going to tell you the first part of the code word to make comments however this isn't the full code word there is an extra requirement the code word is the name of an animal from both Knox and V Shoujo we have copies of the
[19:55] conversation though not of all of it in its totality when nux says he has permission to post his video this is the image that he presents as evidence of this however the Shoujo doesn't say that it gives permission to knocks in fact it
[20:11] is quite adamant that it is unable to give permission to Knox and wasn't and permission wasn't requested of them and in fact what Phoenix V shoujo's infra secure info security guy says that doing a video is entirely within nux's right
[20:28] to do as a victim basically he says that he can't tell nux no there are indications that V Shoujo was telling nux that this was a bad idea this statement only makes sense is if the
[20:42] convent that nux was replying to was trying to persuade him not to post the video this is what nuts thinks shows that V Shoujo is give giving them permission but rather it shows that V Shoujo was saying that they can't stop
[20:56] nux reading through the extended transcript it looks like the Shoujo repeatedly tried to persuade nux that posting this was a bad idea and that it would put him and the V Shoujo Talent at risk however nux was unconvinced even
[21:12] risk however nux was unconvinced even going so far to say he doesn't mind the increased risk to himself everybody is free to decide what level of risk they are comfortable with however knowingly putting other people at risk is a
[21:26] completely different story when nux was unable to be convinced these Shoujo seemed to shift to an harm reduction strategy they attempted to get nux to remove the section praising the alleged fans I think now it was is a good time
[21:43] to answer the question was the information fed to him by William and Garbo legit V Shoujo have stated that they were working with federal law enforcement we know that they had access to the IP addresses of the doctor's
[21:58] servers and that they had high confidence that they knew who the doctors emailed and were attempting to have the doctors prosecuted from this information we can safely conclude that they have gained the ability to
[22:12] forensically examine the doctor's service according to the Shoujo the perpetrators were underage and unrelated to the person not suspected given that V
[22:25] Shoujo was most likely using hard evidence given that V Shoujo was most likely using hard evidence and that nux was using uncorroborated evidence from
[22:37] an unreliable source I have to conclude that nux's information was wrong however even if we don't have that information from vshoujo I would still discount the
[22:49] so-called fan by Williams own admission he had no moral problem associating with doxers that doesn't Inspire trust in that person I would only use that
[23:02] information if I could confirm it with third-party evidence however despite V shoujo's recommending that he edit out the bit where he talks about William he refused to make anything but trivial charges to the point where nuck said it
[23:19] doesn't matter if I was misinformed or not the message of the video Remains the Same admitting that you are willing to publish a video based on misinformation is um it is something the Shoujo managed to
[23:34] negotiate with nux that they were able to place a press release in response to nux's video at first nux gave them a 30 minute deadline and then after realizing
[23:46] minute deadline and then after realizing how ridiculous that deadline was he [Applause] foreign
[24:00] was in his typical bragalicious style boasting proudly about how he worked with the Shoujo to take down the VOC doctors and protect all the V tubers he also included a clip person Accused by William of being the doctor though
[24:15] blurred at the request of each Shojo the video was mostly a narrative about how nuts detected that it was being fished and was full of praise for William it lacked any practical advice about how to avoid being doxed the Shoujo posed a
[24:31] response tweet which started with thank you nux for working with us this tellingly did not thank nux for the video but only for him informing them about the phishing email this is like asking someone if they enjoyed the meal
[24:47] you made for them and they replying I really like how you arrange the food on the plate it's a type of damning with faint praise indeed this case the thank you is damning they are implicitly expressing the displeasure with the
[25:01] expressing the displeasure with the video by only referring to other aspects privately several of the girls of the Shoujo including fruit and iron Mouse
[25:18] contacted nux asking him to take the video down we know this is the case because both the V Shoujo Talent said so with screenshotted records and nux confirms that they contacted him and asked him to take the video down nux did
[25:35] not take the video down during this time the only thing he did do was change the thumbnail in the conversations he had with the V Shoujo Talent he pushed back and was recalcitrant about pulling it down and even try to argue that he had
[25:51] approval and that the other Talent within the Shoujo had no issue with his video foreign [Music] publicly announced their problems with
[26:07] nux's video The V Shoujo Talent Nana's released a message to her fan Discord describing the problems she had with the video in it she said that the Shojo staff explained to Knox how releasing it could cause harm and that it shouldn't
[26:23] be released she also said that her friends had contacted nux directly and asked him to take the video down after it was posted this quickly leaked out her fan Discord and into the wider community of fans where it was met with
[26:38] mixed response some people didn't believe it due to there being a history of mutual dislike between Nana's and nux however soon after that other members of the Shoujo posted public statements they talked about contacting nux and asking
[26:55] him to take it down their disappointment that nux did not do so and their irritation that nux replied implying that V Shoujo management were perfectly okay with him posting this there was a massive backlash against nux for this
[27:10] the fandoms of the V show Joe talents along with other YouTuber fans and people outside of the V Trooper scene were extremely critical of nuts in
[27:22] response to the backlash nux pulled down the video nux then starts backtracking first he claimed there was nothing wrong with the video he then accused the Shoujo of throwing independent v-tubers under the bus as a part of their
[27:36] investigation which is a strange claim to make since because in his video he was boasting about how he was working with the Shoujo to combat the doxers so if he believed that V Shoujo was somehow betraying independent v-tubers wouldn't
[27:53] of that made him complicit in doing so he pulled down the videos and made an apology that he should have removed the videos when asked to buy the V Shoujo Talent privately the beach Shoujo talents in return apologized for
[28:10] basically weaponizing their fans to get knocks to pull the video down with apologies made most of the tweets were removed and nux also removed the all the other videos where you've click baited views using vshoujo members however
[28:26] within some element there has developed a complicated conspiracy theory where a complicated conspiracy theory where somehow the Shoujo set nux up gave him permission to post what he had produced and then withdrew it with the intent to
[28:39] backstab him however this to me fails halon's razor it is a massive complex evil villain scheme to explain something that can be more simply explained by a
[28:52] combination of stupidity nuts not having the awareness to understand that it was being shaped by the doctors the Shoujo being unable to directly tell Knox not
[29:05] to post the video and knocks being unwilling to read between the lines and understand that he really should not post the video
