# How Much Capital Do You Need to Start Trading?

> Source: [How Much Capital Do You Need to Start Trading?](https://youtube.com/watch?v=66jPWPmSJh8)

## Summary

This video provides a realistic breakdown of the capital required to start trading, emphasizing that skill development is more critical than the amount of money you have. It outlines capital requirements for different stages—learning, practicing, part-time, and full-time trading—and warns against unrealistic expectations promoted on social media.

### Key Points

- **Capital Requirements Vary by Stage** [00:01] — The amount of capital needed for trading depends on your stage: learning, practicing, part-time, or full-time. There is no one-size-fits-all answer.
- **Skill Over Capital** [00:59] — Trading skills are more important than capital. Without skills, any capital will be lost; with skills, even small capital can grow. More capital only increases earning potential.
- **Learning Phase Requires No Capital** [01:26] — You can learn trading without investing money. The speaker recommends a free 10-video playlist on their channel (about 7 hours) that covers trading basics, originally taught to their team.
- **Practice Capital: ₹5,000–₹20,000** [03:03] — For practicing and testing skills, a capital of ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 is sufficient. A single trade can be done with as little as ₹100, especially on platforms like Delta Exchange with leverage.
- **Expect Losses as Course Fees** [04:15] — When starting, assume you will lose the money you invest. Treat it as a course fee paid to the market, which helps you stay emotionally prepared.
- **Part-Time Trading: ₹1 Lakh Minimum** [04:44] — For part-time trading, a capital of at least ₹1 lakh is recommended. Earning 5% monthly on ₹1 lakh yields ₹5,000, a reasonable side income.
- **Full-Time Trading: ₹5 Lakh or More** [06:06] — Full-time trading requires a capital of around ₹5 lakh if you can survive on ₹500 monthly, but a more realistic figure is ₹10 lakh, earning 5% monthly (₹50,000).
- **Realistic Expectations Are Key** [07:42] — The speaker deliberately avoids promising high returns (like 30% monthly) because such expectations are unsustainable and lead to disappointment. Realistic expectations help you stay profitable.
- **Strategy Beats Capital** [08:36] — A trader with ₹50,000 and a good strategy can grow their capital, while a trader with ₹1 lakh and no strategy can lose it all. Risk management is crucial.

### Conclusion

The video emphasizes that trading success depends on skill and realistic expectations, not just capital. Start with free education, practice with small amounts, and gradually scale up only after consistent profitability.

## Transcript

dreams shown to you in the reels might not be matching with what is shown here came with some money and bought cars from there, did many things, built houses but let me tell you that everyone is telling you to do trading
but no one is telling you how much money is required for trading and those who tell, they either tell a very high amount or a very low amount but it is not their fault here because the answer to this question is not as easy as you are thinking.
So without wasting time, let's come straight to the topic and understand how much capital you will need according to each stage. I have been associated with the finance field for the last 10 years and for the last six years I have been creating trading content on YouTube.
So I think that the capital requirement for each category is very different. But you don't have to focus on capital first. You have to understand
skill. Because if you do not have trading skills then no matter how much capital you have, you will reduce it to zero. And if you have the skill, even if the capital is less, you can make it very big. The only difference that more capital makes is that if you have more capital,
your earning potential will be higher. Even if there is less capital, it can be grown consistently. So first of all you have to work on your skills. Learning to trade is about working on it. And when you are in the learning phase then you do
not need much capital. Even I would say that you can learn trading without investing any money. Yes, you will need capital only when you go for practical. Now sold at such high prices, then how will I learn? So let me tell you that we have
learn? So let me tell you that we have not know the T of trading, you n't take those videos as entertainment while you're learning. You can learn by taking a notebook and pen.
Making notes. Move ahead while understanding everything. If you do n't understand something, clarify it. And these 10 videos will give you a lot of knowledge about trading. For this you just have to go to the playlist section of our channel and here you will see those 10 videos.
Now there are 10 videos, that does not mean that the content is less and just because it is available for free, it does not mean that the quality is low. All these videos would be of about 7 hours and if we talk about its quality, then I was actually teaching my team
and whatever I taught them, I have provided it for free on YouTube. So even if you have ever taken any paid course, you will still see that all these things were available here for free. So don't miss that playlist and if
you want to learn trading in a deeper way, we have also provided an advanced trading course for You will also find its playlist in our playlist section. So now the first scenario that comes out is that you have acquired the knowledge of trading.
Now you want to start trading and practice on your own, so how much capital is required for that? So see, minimum you will have to
if you want to test your skills in trading , try trading, then you should have enough capital for this also. Well, let me tell you that if you want to take just one trade and see how to buy and how to sell, then that can be done
even with ₹100. But I am talking about the take a trade and see, it can be done even for ₹100. And in Delta Exchange you
also get good leverage. If you can open your account in Delta Exchange. I personally use Delta Exchange. open your account using our link, you
But for that the link of Google form is given below. After opening the account, please fill that Google form. Now let's come back to the topic and you have understood that if you want to practice a little, want to understand trading now, then you should have a
capital of ₹5 to ₹20,000. One thing to keep in mind here is that when you are starting trading and learning, then assume that you will incur loss in the money you are bringing. Now it is not necessary that there will be loss. But you will have to accept this
because when you accept this then you will not feel sad if you suffer a loss. You won't be upset because something has happened that you already knew could happen. You can consider it as a course fee which you are paying to the market and not to me.
Even if you prepare for any exam, you pay fees, so here you have to pay the fees to the market. Now the question arises whether you have become good at trading. You have learned. confidence that yes you can make money from trading. How much capital will you need now
? So look, two scenarios emerge here. The first scenario is that you want to do trading part time. Meaning you are not becoming a full time trader right now. Which you do n't have to think like this at all in the beginning. Work on your skills first.
Whatever happens in the future will be seen. That means, if you have learned a little bit of trading in the beginning, then means, if you have learned a little bit of trading in the beginning, then want to do part time trading and want to earn some money from there
and want to earn it as a part time income, then here also according to me your capital should be around ₹1 lakh. Now you will say, friend, Yes brother, I know that after hearing this you must be feeling that the
because there people show that they came with some money and bought cars from there, did many things, built houses but let me tell you that that car and house has come by making reels, it has not come from trading, so that is why
you need a capital of at least ₹1 lakh if you want to earn part time also because if you earn even 5% a month on a capital of ₹1 lakh then you will only have ₹5000 which is a kind of side income. Now you might be thinking that friend, I have seen in trading that if
someone increases the amount by one and a half times in one day, then he reduces it to half the next day. I am talking about overall. Sometimes you will make profit , sometimes you will incur loss. Your objective is to be overall profitable. Now let us finally understand what to do if you want to become a full time trader.
You don't have to do any other work. You have to become a full time trader. So look here, first of all, I have told you the first two phases that you have acquired the skill of trading, you have acquired the knowledge. You made profit with small capital. After that you feel that yes, I can do
this work even with big capital and I can do it full time. When you earn part time for several months. Even if you earn it for a whole year. Then you have to think about it full time. So if you want to become a full time trader then again it will depend on
what your return expectations are. How much money do you need to become a full time How much money do you need to become a full time trader? If you can survive even on ₹500, then your capital here will be around ₹5 lakh and if you earn 10% of the monthly income, then
your capital will become ₹500. Well, earning 10% per month is not an easy task. This happens in very rare cases. So that's why I am giving you a small expectation of 5%. I am not giving you wrong expectations. If you take 5% then it will become
₹25,000. And if you have a capital of ₹1 lakh and you have the skill. If you have earned money with small capital and you earn even 57% per month, then you can earn ₹00 to ₹70,000 per month and only then you can think of becoming a full time trader.
Now you might be thinking that with ₹1 lakh I will earn only ₹50,000 per month. No one told me this. Everywhere it is shown that brother, if I can do all this. So see, those are Mungeri Lal's beautiful dreams which are shown to you and
it may happen for one month but it cannot happen every month. So I am giving you the expectation which is practically possible. I am not telling you such things which are not practically possible and tomorrow you will be surprised that what is happening, friend.
Now here you do not need to be disappointed. You might be thinking that I will earn only ₹50,000 per month on a capital of Rs 10 lakh. Meaning, the 5% expectation that I have given you is a correct expectation. You may
even earn 20% some month. Earn even 30% some month. That means if it becomes 30% of 10 lakhs then it becomes ₹3 lakhs per month. But this will not happen every month. It may also happen that in some month you may incur some loss. Some months you may incur huge losses and some
months you may make very good profits. That means the things here do not happen step by step. Here, sometimes there is a big jump and sometimes the person rolls down. So I am deliberately
not telling you high returns because my job is to show you the right path. If I told you that you will earn 30% per month. So here you will dream of Rs 3 lakh every month which is not right for you as a trader. If your expectations are right
then you can earn more. If your expectations are high then it will be very difficult for you to be profitable. Rest here I Suppose there are two traders. One has a capital of ₹1 lakh. The other has a
capital of ₹00. But if a trader with ₹1 lakh in just 2 months he may reduce his capital by half or even reduce his entire account to zero.
But there is another trader whose capital may be ₹50,000 but if he works with proper strategy and proper risk management then he can gradually increase his capital to a great extent and when he gradually grows his capital
then he will be able to earn returns on the big capital in the same way as he So first of all work on your skills. We have created a series of 10 videos on YouTube.
