[00:02] censorship from the development team of Brown Dust 2. This is probably going to have a chilling effect on the entirety of the Gotacha community to where game companies that are going to take a hard look at what's happening to Brown [00:14] themselves because that's what a chilling effect is. it will start people development team is facing how they're facing so many issues around the world now go out of their way to make sure that they don't run into this exact same [00:29] issue by self-censoring content on the cutting room floor. That is what's going to happen here. And so let's give some context because obviously you might not know what Brown Dust 2 is and why it is so vital and important and why I think [00:42] gotcha games in general in terms of how we know them because Brown Dust 2 is a pretty big series. It's a series that pushes the boundaries of basically fanervice content within a gotacha game space and obviously but how much they [00:57] have pushed over the years. It was crazy to see that they didn't care about backlash, didn't care about what people had to say about fan service. They whatever they wanted. And a lot of people rallied to Brown Dust 2 and [01:10] played their game and enjoyed them because of the actual development team that stuck up for anti-ensorship. They were anti-ensorship as a company. all good things eventually come to an end. And it was revealed literally just [01:25] six months ago that Brown Dust 2 would start censoring itself in certain what their official statement said. It wouldn't be every single country, but like Germany for example. However, 6 months later, Braust 2 is now not just [01:41] censoring itself in let's say foreign countries. It is now censoring itself in its home country of South Korea. Now, obviously, there is definitely Japanese gota games. I am very well aware of that and many people might assume okay how is [01:55] this going to affect Japanese gotacha games well the chilling effect it's a very important thing we have seen a radical shift in fan service like content within games and media and stuff I mean let's look at anime in general [02:08] okay I've talked about this over and over again and I don't want to beat a dead horse and basically say the same thing but there is a very massive difference of fanervice content usage in anime and manga in the 2020s than there [02:21] were in the 2010s and 2000s and so on. Okay, it's a mass drop off. There really is a mass drop off and anyone that takes a hard look at like the different sample sizes of the different decades can easily see it. And this is obviously [02:35] happening within gaming. And so this is happening within Japan as well where debanking going on and stuff like that where games are getting censored or developers can't even make money anymore. Stuff like this is obviously [02:50] Dust 2 and how they are now self-centering themselves within their home country is probably going to lead to where other gotachi games will start following suit because there is something that has become incredibly [03:08] Making any form of fanervice like content is problematic, but fan service content for petite characters is extremely problematic. I'm going to use [03:20] see on the screen that basically references a statement from another game like Bunny Garden or whatever where you have the development team say that making petite characters within games is very risky and basically they want to [03:34] avoid them altogether. This is happening within a Japanese game and it's very is a mass chilling effect to where you can't just now have fan service brown dust but also petite characters as well. pretty much saying that if you're [03:48] a woman that is flatchested and short and small, you don't exist. You shouldn't exist. You are a child. You will never be an adult. That is what these different governments and organizations are saying is that if [04:01] you're a woman that is 5 foot or below or hell even 5' three or whatever and you know, like I said, short, very small stature and everything, you are someone that will never be viewed as an adult. They cannot create your body size, your [04:13] body shape or anything in games or whatever because it is problematic. It is sexist. Obviously, it is body shaming. It is incredibly disrespectful. And everything about this is clearly what's going on here. South Korea is now [04:28] basically getting censored for Brown Dust, too. And that is the home country of the gotacha game, which means that if brown dust can be hit by this, that means any gotachi game from South Korea is going to be hit as well. Eventually, [04:41] speak. And eventually, this will probably hit Japan as well. This is legitimately bad situation. And actually, I want to cover the develop someone that commented at the bottom here, which I will show, going over what [04:55] and then countering what it actually means. For instance, according uh accordingly, we will adjust the position of the presentation object upward to intent. And then the person responds with, okay, fine. You caught us and [05:09] the reasoning behind these changes has not always been sufficiently communicated. We tried to get away with it. Unfortunately, some of you noticed. going on here. There's a lot of corpo speak in this article basically then [05:23] content. Oh, sorry you caught us, but there's nothing you can do about it. It's legitimately bad. It's overall just a very bad, messy situation. It's Brown Dust 2 is pretty much a dead game. It is like there is nobody that can [05:39] really in good faith trust the Brown us developers in game anymore because like I said, 6 months ago, they promised that they would not censor their home region or anything, but 6 months later, they did. Obviously, there is a little nuance [05:52] here that apparently the government is cracking down on Brown Dust 2, allegedly from what I'm hearing. But even if that is the case or not, this goes to show the systematic push against fan service like content in general in South Korea, [06:06] which means that it will have an effect on pretty much uh almost every single gotacha game. Obviously, Brown Dust 2 is an extreme example, but there is a lot of Gotacha games that do push the limits as well. So, yeah, this is very [06:18] about this because this is more or less the escalation of censorship and everything that we've been seeing in different spaces for the last few years since pretty much 2020. When it comes to anything anime adjacent, it is getting [06:32] itself to some degree. So yeah, depressing honestly. So I'm going to in the comments below. If you enjoy my content, please subscribe. It does help me out a lot. But uh be safe, stay healthy. She be out.
