## Summary

In a Cars & Bids live stream, the hosts discuss the Porsche 911 Turbo S as the ultimate daily driver, the growing trend of manual transmission swaps for Ferraris, and Doug's surprising obsession with the new Subaru WRX. The conversation also covers Ferrari's missed opportunities and the best alternatives to a 911.

### Key Points

- **991 Turbo S as Ultimate Daily** [02:36] — The 991 Turbo S Coupe is described as 'one of the most competent all-round cars'—blisteringly fast, reliable, comfortable, and all the performance car you'd ever need.
- **Manual Swapped Ferrari 430** [04:12] — A Ferrari F430 Spider with a manual conversion at 45,000 miles is highlighted. The conversion adds to the driving experience and makes the car more usable.
- **Ferrari F1 Transmission Appeal** [07:15] — The Ferrari F1 transmission is described as brutal and engaging, requiring the driver to blip on downshifts. It's mechanical and charming, though not great.
- **Kenan's WRX Obsession** [12:32] — Kenan has become 'truly and honestly obsessed' with the new Subaru WRX, praising its powertrain and driving dynamics. He loves the orange and blue colors.
- **991.2 Turbo S Specs** [14:41] — The 991.2 Turbo S has 550 horsepower, PDK, and all-wheel drive. It's a dream car that feels much faster than its numbers suggest.
- **Lexus ISF Overview** [18:27] — The Lexus ISF has a 5.0L naturally aspirated V8, sounds awesome, and combines V8 sedan performance with Toyota reliability. Values have remained solid.
- **Ferrari Manual Transmission Debate** [20:00] — The hosts argue Ferrari is leaving money on the table by not offering manual transmissions. Porsche has proven strong demand with manual GT cars.
- **Best 911 Alternative: Cayman** [40:19] — The best all-round alternative to a used 911 is a Cayman. It's a great sports car that has become more affordable, especially the 981 generation.
- **Nissan Xterra Advice** [42:12] — Doug would advise Nissan to bring back the Xterra to capitalize on the off-road SUV market, which has exploded since Nissan canceled it.
- **BMW M Coupe Identification** [61:29] — The S54-powered BMW M Coupe can be identified by its Chrome Shadow wheels and curved badge, unlike the flatter badge on S52 cars.

aware of what we're doing here today I
am it's it's an honor to be here hello
everyone we are live today in the cars
and bids
Studio to talk about Tracy Chapman and
fast car
Sam did a song our friend Nick had never
heard of until about a week ago week ago
okay no we're going to discuss
cars
woo Sam has a car or two Kenan has a car
we know Kenan this is Sam Sam was at the
racetrack the other day we posted a
video and now he's here in the studio
and we're going to talk about cars yeah
it's an honor to be here I've been
around a little bit around coup videos
we did a couple videos right I've been
lingering in the background for a few
years now so now it's just on on display
Sam uh one interesting life event for
Sam he was recently rejected for tickets
to the
quail I'll note that as was Kennon and
everybody we knew and everybody every
single person we knew I wasn't rejected
now they were also rejected a week late
because their Google form said it would
have a week ago I emailed them they're
like oh just ignore it right Doug wasn't
rejected but he also doesn't remember if
he submitted the okay I checked I
checked what happened if you go on the
quail website it says like check click
here to be like kept informed of events
and so I that was a Google form also and
you told me it was a Google form so I
just typed in my info so you just got
the newsletter no ticket get the
newsletter marketing so I did it I
actually did that a second time
yesterday and I was like wait a minute
I've already done this and so I'm going
to get multiple newsletters but I did
not get enter the lottery for tickets
but next year when they they'll tell me
the tickets are coming and then I'll get
them yeah like us this year yeah I've
been what four years in a row and this
is my first time not getting selected
it's all right very upset we'll go to
the Partridge nice I knew you going to
pick some
bird okay this is this is off to a poor
start Sam why don't you tell us about
the uh okay we have a bu of really cool
cars ending today thankfully we have a
lot and several of them are right in
Sam's wheelhouse yeah one of one of them
is this 991 Turbo S Coupe which we talk
about all the time as being like one of
the most competent all round cars yeah
you know it's just blisteringly fast
very reliable comfortable which for Sam
and I is very much something we're
interested in and just like it's all the
more performance car you'd ever need
it's just it's an insane car and this
one seems quite nice too um you know a
very desirable color combination now
you're aware who's offering this for
sale oh yeah a Westside collector car
storage what's your play uh what is my
Canon yours is a 525 uo oh yeah good
call it's 525 uo yeah oh um which is how
I felt when I owned my first BMW 525 I
had a lot of money to just kept paying
and just kept paying and paying to take
care of a beautiful car I think if if I
could daily Drive anything it would be a
Turbo S but I think if you're going to
daily a 911 you either want a base
Carrera or a Turbo S it's my new Theory
I'm a kind of a GT3 daily kind of guy
yeah that's exactly what you're like
yeah a career GT daily kind of guy I'm
not me and um you know you're not
hardcore enough but uh you know I get my
jt3 every morning I get my bucket seats
I'm a real race car driver Bouncing
Around The Way work I'm a real race car
driver then I get on Bluetooth it's like
in a real race car got get are hello
right yeah right power window G um okay
so that's G to sell what let's before we
get into today's auctions though which
is this is one of them should we discuss
some of the cars that we have on the
site right now that are cool yeah so
we've got we've got quite a few this car
is sitting here in the shop now we can
actively Ferrari F430 Spider with a
stick conversion oh and 45,000 mil this
is the 430 spider that I personally
would buy this particular one this is
what you want to do with these cuz we've
sold manual converted cars we had a 599
that stands out in my mind it had like
less than a thousand miles some
conversion you're never going to drive
it because every mile you put on it you
directly affects the value in a negative
way whereas you buy one that has the
miles you want to drive it and so by
changing the transmission it adds to the
driving experience you're going to use
it makes a lot of sense for a car like
this that is precisely correct oh what a
good car a lot of red Interiors today
very red very red yeah definitely a uh a
really red interior this car is so cool
though 45,000 mil this car in love with
the 430 it only happened recently too I
just like the more I saw them the more I
was like wow a
beautiful that gated manual don't you
want that yes the fact that you're not
bidding on this car is very annoying to
me well I'm
busy I have to say yeah click clocking
in a Ferrari is great the thing I found
that was interesting because I I drove
it briefly was that uh it just the revs
drop off very quickly um like I know the
C you're used to the cage GT obviously
which it just like the revs just drop
the second you push the clutch p in the
430 is very similar like that too with
the manual they drop really fast you got
to shift it very quickly have you ever
driven K's car oh yeah the the Dual Mass
fly I have on my car is very heavy so
when you put in the The Rev in his car
is Wild is it similar to the E46 73 yeah
it the revs drop approximately as
quickly as they accelerate so like
you're flored on a freeway on wrap you
got plenty of time to rev match put the
clutch
in now a lot of people will put a
lightweight flywheel on E m5s but the
reason it's so heavy is for refinement
so it doesn't chatter make noise and
like and that's the when people put the
lightweights on they just it's just like
kind of it's really annoying really
annoying so like that for a reasonable
car and it's a comfortable car it's you
know it's not a career
[Music]
GT this 430 is the coolest this 430
really cool uh and I love the color
combination too gasio Silverstone one of
my favorite colors on the 430 I think if
you could have any color on a 430 though
what is it to France blue
T FR blue blue swatters or uh Lon blue
those are my favorite BL blue yeah
they're very they are different between
the three of them California California
is nice now we're talking it's a good
color too there a lot of great colors on
the 430 oh every color yellow yeah Sam
tell us why you you have not purchased
an F430 yet I don't know I love my I
drive a Boxster spider which has
probably been seen but uh I love that
car so much and I can't justify having a
second convertible manual like sports
car but I have been thinking like I've
F1 has grown on me a lot and I'm like
sort of into the like single clutch feel
so if I could have Boxster spider and a
430 spider F1 I'm like into that it's a
controversial take but I to I agree and
I think you do as well there's something
about it you pull the paddle and it's
like when you're on it's a brutal shift
like it's it's engaging and you still
have to work with the transmission you
have to blip it on downshifts it's kind
of like fun and Charming it's not great
but it is like it's mechanical I made
this point like two years ago when I
reviewed that 612 we sold and
everybody's like oh you're Shilling for
cars and bids because I'm like oh I kind
of like F1 and now I got to review that
Maserati coupe has that's a really
that's a tough F1 very the same I don't
think it's the same as 65 I think it's
the same as the 355 okay but no it's
better than the the 355 is F1 is right
what was the first attempt yikes it's
like the first attempt at computers it
took up a whole up a whole
building yeah I even that's exactly like
exactly you know 55 gigantic car um
Spruce Goose right but on the topic of
uh of Sam there actually another car
that's selling this week that i' like to
go and that's of course the Boxster
spider we got a boxer spider we have we
have one on Wheel he clicked into the
the interior photos that's why it was
like that he had already clicked into do
it he was pulling up all the all the T
before the show started like you know I
think I'll maybe take a look at this
keness with this car I have taken a look
at it Sam what are your thoughts on this
box spider as an owner um I so generally
I don't like guards red but on the boxer
spider I think it's kind of fun and uh I
disagree with black wheels on all cars
so that's you know a personal preference
but um interesting bumper sticker huh
and it's got a sticker and that got the
side sticker huh it had the side um but
I don't know I there's some interesting
mods to this car that I guess are the
mods that people do to a boxer spider if
they mod modify them um with those ipd
PL intake plenum and the GT3 whatever
but uh I don't know if that is effective
but the intake noise on that car is
pretty good from Factory and I think if
that airbox increases that sound that
would be pretty cool that would be a mod
that I would actually consider doing um
the Kon has become obsessed with the
boxer spider it's become kind of a
problem Kon would you like to share
would you like to share your your
obsession with I have covered it so many
times but I'll do it again I think that
I think that it's a perfect balance of
everything you want I more want you to
talk about like the
situation what why I haven't bought one
well yeah and also like you know like
it's a that's a you know you want to get
a boxer spider you know
yeah yeah what of it I just love the
boxar spider dearly but I just you know
it's a it's an expensive
car uh yeah right Ken's been throwing
around like expensive cars like what
else did he throw around 500e well no
that was yeah there's a different
application between the two ad last week
we covered that I think right he wanted
to get a Fiat 500e yeah and he told me
just to drive the M5 which has not been
great for it I mean it's getting like 11
miles with a gallon because it doesn't
really get warm so he complained because
he used to live too far away that he had
to drive too far now he lives too close
he's complaining that his car doesn't
warm up I live too close but not enough
like I medium I very close to the office
I can kind of like walk to work but I
lived like too far from you like I can't
I have to drive to get to tennis when
when we go to play tennis
and so like I know it's I know it's a I
know these are deep first world problems
but like so this car's got 60,000 miles
on it 53 54,000 which you really never
see him with high mileage I don't know
why but when I was shopping for mine
there were three white ones in Southern
California for sale all with like 10 to
14,000 miles and I think I remember
Farah actually mentioning a few years
ago that like every one of these for
sale has like 14,000 it's a little bit
of a rougher ride so it's not and it's a
car that unlike you most people probably
aren't dailying I don't daily it either
I attempted to when I I thought I would
um I have
203,000 now you've driven a lot yeah
like 10,000 miles in a year and I
haven't been daily that's basically
that's pretty much numbers Prett much
daily use um these rarely come up this
is a 981 yeah yes yeah it's interesting
generally for sale they never come up
like to find a comp for this probably
wasn't easy cuz like they're not around
they just don't trans ESP miles they're
only offered for a single model year
here um I think was it 860 or something
like that if to the United States um
like they're just not common so and it
and it man is it hard to find them
without black wheels it's a yeah but you
can paint them Kevin will paint them
yeah that's yeah I know we have the
resources this car with silver Wheels
would be look great yeah yeah red is
cool plus you got the Florida wild
flowers specialty license plate Ken any
thoughts on that nope no none Florida's
got great good PL look at that look at
that wild flower kenon wild beautiful y
uh okay what else you get for us kenon
all right so uh the next car uh is one
that you really love and that's the new
WRX now do you want to discuss why you
love this I just have fallen in love
with the new WRX I like not I like don't
not think about getting one I now have
completely come around on how it looks I
think it looks great white is not
necessarily my favorite color I love the
orange I love the blue I like the white
I think it looks good um I love the
powert train I think it's fantastic I am
just like obsessed with the new WRX I
have become truly and honestly obsessed
with I see him on the street I'm like
this guy so lucky I know there was one
at cars in coffee last week like parked
next to a mercy Lago and you went right
up to it I just think it's so good it's
just such a good car it's also still
offered with a stick which this one is
and it's just a great powertrain it's
like the the perfect amount of like
potency and and right in the middle of
the Rev range great response you don't
have to ring it out for good power it's
got a lot of power it feels good I like
love this car I really do and I think it
looks good I don't know I've completely
come around on how it looks the one we
saw cars in coffee had all the clading
paint the clading painted looks Terri
looked odd the cladding painted looks
terrible what I've discovered is the
everybody gave it crap for having this
unpainted cladding when it first came
out and now we saw one that had painted
cladding wasn't better and we've learned
why they didn't paint the CL probably
tried it both ways and we're like ah y
we can't do that but you can't tell me
this doesn't look a little like a stado
when I first saw this car I was off
looks I have come around a little bit
looks like little bit also it's become
clear that this is kind of the end I
don't know if you guys have followed
this but there's no STI they're not
going to do one and like Subaru doesn't
screw with these cars anymore they just
don't care they're selling cross trcks
and and you know Outbacks and that kind
of thing and they don't want to screw
around with wrex's they're like done
with that crowd it's like a it's a crowd
of people they'd rather just not deal
with like they don't want them in their
dealerships they don't want them walking
around they don't want them modding
their cars vaping yeah vaping big in the
service lounge they don't need to go
through that okay we got this 991
closing all right yeah so this 991 is
closing watch this for a little B and
then we'll do some questions but yeah uh
how many miles 477 it's been driven the
point twos are still big money um even
the0 ones are they came down pretty
quick to like half MSRP which was like
115 something like that I could be a
little high on that but um the point tws
bring big money probably 140 is a good
130 wow even with 47,000 miles yeah I
mean from what I see cuz I only see the
ones that are like listed for sale so I
don't know what they're really
transacting for but um yeah I would kill
to daily one of these so yeah I've been
looking right and this is an S so how
much power does this have 550 550 550 PK
it's relatively comfortable it's a dream
car might as well be 700 they feel so
much faster than with with four-wheel
drive and pdk they are fast fast car I
was blown away by that cab that I drove
that we had on the site and man it just
just it just does everything and yeah
you lay into it it's like oh my God this
is fast this as fast as a VAR on to 60
it can do it all day long like it's just
like it's a very impressive car
allaround impressive car pdk do they
still have launch control in these oh
yeah pdk and launch control is like and
four-wheel drive start is like a wild
Wild Thing 1175 the bids the bids are
even when the 97 Turbo S came out that
car had crazy 0 to 60 numbers probably
because of pdk and launch control and
all that but they've only continue to
improve it and I've been in one of those
for a launch it's hard to imagine this
is that much faster but it really is
this is a great da what would be really
great would be a 0.1 nons because those
are
now what are those 100 a little more
than that I I could be a little high on
that but I haven't seen any sell for
less than a 100 but still like it's kind
of in that range
right yeah there's 120 for a 14 there's
a 13 model bids to 75 there's a 13 that
went up to 80 that sold after at 80 90
he's clicking like a oh that's a point
too turbo though like someone turbo not
not an S yeah about but this felt like
the generation where everyone got turbo
SES you rarely see turbos yeah right and
and if you could afford a a turbo you
probably could get to a Turbo S like I
look at that 15 look at that 15 that was
16,000 mies sold for 102 that was a good
deal 100 grand for that to drive that
and it's not really going to lose much
value from here you got to figure
interesting that's a really good deal
it's a cool car I should have bought
that yeah you should have you should
have a lot of these came with people
optioned adaptive cruise too just the
dream yeah but not many not many some
992s seem to have a lot more people who
ticked that box for some reason well
it's becoming more of a luxury car and
people are starting to understand the
benefit of that where only you and me
understood it for the last five years
right I once made a video about why I
love it so much nobody watched it nobody
cared meanwhile people are driving
around using their feet right and and
texting and texting yeah if you're going
to text let the computer drive for you
this the bidding is still going by the
way it's at 1220 Ken what's coming up
next wow okay so let's see so the next
car after that one uh we have is an ISF
which
is stock wheels I'll never forget seeing
these are stock wheels I don't know they
have a Lexus badge in the those are some
Lexus stock wheel but I don't think
they're ISF they may look like are those
GSF stock wheels go down kenin what does
it say see doesn't say but I don't think
those are stock wheel especially not for
an 11 they're could have been they could
have also been options um but anyway
Andrew Fountain would tell me the the
truth yes I I've always really liked
these cars they sound awesome they
they're and it combines like combines
what I like V8 sedan but with
reliability uh which is very appealing
and it's kept the values on these cars
pretty solid they they haven't really
dropped much lower than I thought they
initially would I remember seeing this
car new too at car shows and the like
the sales people said it's the M3 killer
and I was like yeah right but you know
M3s found ways to kill themselves as
they lunch their engines ain't that the
truth every generation ding around the
other cool thing about this car is it
was subtle you had to know it has that
little thing behind the front wheel you
know and it has the hood bulge the tips
and the exhaust AR aren't the I believe
memory serves me like the bottom ones
aren't real or something like that yeah
something of that effect and those
exhaust tips a lot of style but yeah but
yeah but I adore these cars is that a 5
L V8
5 L na8 5 L na V8 are they still using
that same motor in the LC is that the
same motor can't imagine they developed
a new yeah that's probably true it's
like the SL65 engine right just been
around for a long time right those quad
pipes those bizarre quad pipes what were
they doing so many people hated that I
don't know then Ferrari was like that
looks good and then yeah the C had the
Cali had it cuz this came out I feel
like 08 and the Cali came out 09 is that
how it went think that's right 10 memory
Sayes me or 10 what does the is500 have
do that has stacked exhaust tips too oh
I don't know does it why did they not
call that the ISF I guess they didn't
want to put like the suspension and body
work into it the problem with the is500
is as as much as I love this car for
being subtle the problem with the is500
is too subtle it only has a badge you
cannot tell yeah you they are all F
Sports now and they all have the body
kit right right Lex released one F car
and they were like we're going to make F
Sport a thing now that we've now that
we've really gotten this brand to work
for us and and boy do what are you
talking about nobody's heard of this and
boy do that yeah you can get an rxf
sport no problem um okay Ken let me do
some questions go go to some questions
Kenan pick up one that you really want
all right I need a second
here um let's see why would ferari not
offer a manual on the sp3 Daytona Andrew
asks do they hate money feror seems to
they they I think that there is a
clientele if Ferrari were to offer a
gated manual transmission on some car
and I felt that it should have been the
296 they should have offered that car
with a manual had they offered that it
would sold off instantly everybody would
have bought it like people Porsche has
proven that people want manual
transmissions it's just Ferrari has you
know their technology is so dependent on
how the transmission interacts with the
the drivetrain and admittedly on the sp3
Dayton it's so much power and it's so
crazy already shifting gears yourself
might be a lot with that car um but I
don't understand why fori doesn't offer
manual cars like Porsche does with these
gt3s I I truly think it's because when
the 57 when the 550 came out Ferrari
after it came out Ferrari wanted
feedback from their clients and so they
went to their clients who bought those
cars and asked what would you change
about it and everybody wanted the F1
transmission and I think Ferrari just
stuck with that mentality of okay that's
what people want the sales numbers were
then low on manuals when they offered
the manual on the 575 they were low on
the F430 and but I'll give them some
feedback like here's some feedback for
Ferrari you're not a client anymore they
they they like I this car I could buy a
Ferrari I bought one of those here's
some feedback for Ferrari uh 911 STS are
selling for 200 Grand over sticker on
the you know I mean 911rs were selling
for
$800,000 back when they were new and
that was just a 911 with a manual
transmission can you imagine how much
over sticker manual transmission new
Ferrari would go for and they're like
you have to you have to develop the the
transmission it takes a while okay do
they care like don't all new Ferraris
sell out anyway sf9 is are 300 under
sticker and people are still waiting two
years if there was a stick sf90 might be
able to sell one that this is this is
something for Ferrari here's a here's a
tip if you made the sf90 with a stick
maybe you could sell
one I think they're selling them I think
everyone's so desperate to get in line
that you used to have to buy like a Cali
and take like a 40 Grand hit on it yeah
but give it time now you got to take
here Problem by dumping by dumping these
SF 9s down people's throats not
everybody's going to be able to qualify
for the next level of car and there's
going to they're going to sour their own
situation people are going to be like I
water an sf90 you owe me because I took
a $300,000 bath on this trash car that
nobody wants you owe me I'm not wrong
you owe me an allocation for something
really special then they're going to
have to develop more special cars and
they're going to start becoming less
special like McLaren or everything
special if only they would put a stick
in the sf90 someone would have interest
in actually wanting one and maybe that
would preserve their values a little bit
on the used Market it certainly
would we are in the first time in my
life to answer your question don't they
all sell for the first time in my life
no I mean I think SF 9s are hard to sell
interesting don't you yeah I'm sure
Romas too if what we're seeing on the
used Market is happening there's no way
they have people lined up on the new
market to just buy them I think Roma is
an easier sale to just a a sheer price
difference I think people are more
although I have seen I think you showed
me that one that was crazily optioned up
to like
$450,000 or something nuts I didn't even
think was possible on that car well
there are some old people who do that
kind of thing because they don't want
like a like a Mid Engine like you know I
mean I get that I get that but yeah but
I agree the sf9 but you look at used
values on Romans you look at used values
on Pinos and on SF 90s they're not as
hot as they once were no Ferrari could
make some money throwing a stick in some
of these cars SF 9s there are hundreds
and hundreds available if I wanted an
sf90 today I could start calling dealers
and getting them all over the place
they're also letting like eag take all
the old cars and convert them I don't
get that and ason made that money have
them send the car back charge an
exorbitant amount of money they already
do it for the classy k thing yeah they
charged Aston charged like 40 grand for
that it wa and it couldn't have cost
that but I think it was 40 plus shipping
yeah Ferrari could be that was years ago
too right why not make the money
yourself I just don't understand it's a
public company like they're they're
leaving money on the table does not
matter it does not make sense to me when
you're looking at porsa and they come up
with these cars Porsche is falling all
over themselves to create manual
versions of cars that don't need special
manual versions because just to make
money right it's not about the speed
it's like it's about the interaction
with the car and Ferrari is still
chasing speed and Grand gred I know
there's a lot of pressure Ferrari's
Heritage of always building the fastest
they always want to have the fastest but
like to mear interesting you speed when
I think about what Ferrari's Heritage is
it's like
money yeah but this was always been the
driving force behind that at least in my
lifetime that's been the driving force
right money far's like done everything
they could to extract money out of
people they would used to charge two
grand for heated seats I mean come on
four grand for carplay yeah I love that
I'm talking about the model in not the
options but yeah I'm talking about the
break the ethos of the people who are
running the company money to answer
Andrew's question it does seem that they
hate
money no they don't I mean I think an
sp3 manual would have been insane
because it was a short production one
they were going to sell them all out
anyway it's no problem I think it's
crazy to me that they don't offer some
stick special edition cars considering
how much more I truly think people would
pay a million bucks for a stick 296 I I
truly believe if they made a 300 unit
production run that would be a million
dollar car and people are like well it
cost money to develop does it cost $300
million I I suspect no probably not
that's like what an actual car cost to
develop yes um all right kenon give us
another
question um here's a here's one from
Michael maau uh question to Doug would
you ever cons what car would you
consider as your E-class allterrain
replacement Ken do you want to tell us
about our our BMW 5 series news of the
day no I was the news today Ken gave up
they announced a wagon when when Ken
when the F10 came out Ken was like I'm
out yeah it was the last BMW Ken hates
new BMWs and they're all pretty good
they're all pretty good true I love most
of them I I really like the I really
like the current generation M3 okay
today BMW has officially announced kenon
the wagon version of the new Five series
I'm going to text it to
you and you can pull it up it's called
The Five series uh
touring uh thank you I I guess we'll go
yeah put click on that from C driver
great
publication okay lovely wagon shape oh
that is a great looking car that is a
great looking car so they won't announce
what's coming to the US but my view is
the M5 touring is coming to the states
there almost no question in my mind and
it looks like a plugin version is going
to come that's cool and a plugin would
be great like an i560 okay so the
problem is they're they supposedly they
not bringing the I5 to the US just a
plugin regular I don't understand the
logic behind that I don't know being RS6
has sold incredibly well well E63 wagon
touring is going to come interesting
it'll plug in but not the not the fully
maybe the full electric maybe not I
don't know oh that'd be sool you once
told me that if they do bring an M5
touring to the US you'll buy one is that
still no I said that about the M3
touring and I do believe that about the
M3 touring I think we're play back the
tape play back the tape you told me on
nck that you I said that about the M3
tring and I stand by it if they brought
that buck tooth thing to the US I would
buy it that
beaver which yeah but well how
interesting that'll be very cool might
come to the US they'd be silly not no no
it'll definitely come to the US they're
just they they didn't say that in the
press release so Car and Driver can't
post it because they got to stay on
BMW's good side but it's coming to the
US and it's going to be great wait can
you just leave us you leave behind the
Five series wagon you have nothing else
to say I we sort of covered it I think
we sort of covered it once it's here
great you don't have any interest in the
Five series wagon you're over BMW after
give me a model year uh I
the F10 was an accurate observation I
what was that 11 I believe that's right
when the f105 came out yeah that was
kind of the I think the 16 was the final
year production for the but when did it
it was like 11 that it started I think
it was 18 I don't remember exactly but
yeah that was kind of the last oh you
cared about the also that was yeah and
that was the last because that was the
last M5 you get with pedal meanwhile Sam
and I love the I love the current
generation I love the M2 as well like I
love all those cars currently love the
i7 Alpa xp7 Alpa X7 that's been the Hot
Topic of debate it just looks so good i7
looks so expensive God I love the i7
okay this question that up there from CJ
is the greatest question we've ever been
asked Sam read it and then choose oh wow
we were just talking about the jukar
actually that's funny um choose between
the following for a onecar garage Nissan
jukar onear garage lm2 wouldn't leave
the garage SLR Sterling
Moss
somehow F50 seems to make like
reasonable sense this is a really tough
one because those are four well okay
those are one great car then three trash
cars that I would
love what was the the jukar was the GTR
motor obviously and the Juke which is a
crazy move but they actually built
customer versions they only Built a few
hundred though or I mean they only Built
a few they only Built a few they built
like 12 they built what they could sell
yeah they built like 12 but they priced
them at like 675 or something
who was buying that no one they they
built like 11 and then one of them came
up for sale and went to auction and got
to like 275 or something oh 275 pull
that up pull up K screen this is an
incredible
automobile man but it's an incredibly
difficult choice between those four I'd
throw the uh signate V8 in there well
that's probably what I'd take that
choice was not proferred To Us by CJ a
one car garage by the way spoke to
George Evans yesterday and he told me LM
o2s are pretty stout he said they don't
really break all that often really yeah
huh he said he's got two of them
personally but this is really yeah he's
quietly got quite the collection yeah he
does hidden in Ohio need to just retire
okay so it was LMO to Sterling Moss SLR
Kennon pull that up for the audience who
unfortunately does not know about that
car did those ever trade
hands never seen one nobody wants one so
I think they just all live in
Switzerland they all live in swizerland
that is so true 75 billion they were all
sold to people who like Mercedes who
like owed Mercedes Benz a favor yep SP2
before the SP2 that's exactly what it is
though you know it's interesting because
in the last couple years the SP2 came
out the Elva came out and Aston did
something yeah like a V12
Vantage roof this was like OG yeah yeah
what does it say just 75 Sterling M
supercars were built one is up I can't
believe they got 75 crazy people to buy
these things crazy I know you ever seen
one no yes you have didn't you see one
at Monterey week uh two years ago or
three years ago I'm pretty confident you
sent us a picture of one I may have mon
didn't count right it's hard to remember
at car week what you see and what you
don't there's one in like the the prince
of Monaco's car collection it's a museum
in Monaco you can go in and see it um
man that's tough though down between
just one certainly not the
lemu as cool as the lau is it's
certainly not the Nissan for me well you
genuinely want one so well what do you
mean it's not the Nissan for you what
okay you're going to daily a sterling
Moss I think I can't F50 seems like the
most reasonable there's that guy in
Louisiana who did it who did you saw
that thing came up yeah driving to
Dallas every other day or something
there was a guy in Louisiana who had an
F50 named Jim
Spiro there was another guy with an F50
named Tom Spiro not something to think
about just just let it let it fester in
your mind okay but uh think the F50 is
uh the clutch is a lot easier to live
with than you might think I don't want
to think I'm not I'm K you're not gonna
take the F50 here I'm not gonna let you
you got to choose between and you're not
going to take the Sterling I'm taking
the F50 CJ gave me the F50 I'm taking
get you can't drive you can't daily
can't drive race I can't drive a like
the Juke R is a purpose it's a built
race car isn't it like no it just had
the regular GTR Road car it's probably
the most practical don't like niss that
much I can't do that I don't like Nissan
that much
Sterling like hide a lot of Nissan
enthusiasts here are going to get mad at
you plus I'm SI I I can't get something
that doesn't have a manual so that rolls
out the Sterling moss and I just
couldn't do a car that doesn't have no
windshield and so so the F50 or the lm2
or like 50 has no roof W yes it does oh
you drive it roofed it did switch back
I've done it I've taken it off before
I've taken one off in f i 5 hours at the
Ferrari dealer to do that no took us 25
minutes really the dealer charges you
the deer charges you like an hour or two
I think it's I think it was two hours of
Labor yeah it does not take two hours to
do I've done that before it's now Grant
I had a little help it is hard to get it
on hard to get the top off but I've done
it Sam what would you pick
here the more I think about it the LMU
actually does make sense if George Evans
is correct I know stradman bought one in
like North Carolina was going to drive
it home and he only made it to
Geor oh so uh I don't know how right he
is about that for daily driving cuz no
one's ever done it right although didn't
someone interesting own one of these new
like Oprah or no uh um what's her name
who lives in Switzerland um what's her
name who lives on the on the in
Switzerland the singer the famous singer
not Diana Ross but Tina Turner Tina
Turner Tina Turner was then she put a
she put a Mercedes engine in it and I
that sounds like lore but I've I've
talked to some people who I like trust
who are like I've seen the car I've laid
hands on the car she has an lmo2 with a
Mercedes engine that's so cool wow so
all right probably answer is Denise on
juk car well the LMU is probably the
answer but
cool yeah I'm taking the F50 damn none
of us picked the roofless car well it's
been raining for a week in San
Diego so uh going back to that9 sold for
12555 for that Turbo S Coupe that's a
that does seem like a good buy that is a
buy at 125 car lot of car 0 to 60 and
what two and a half yeah man reliable
just usable wonderful car Comfort
congratulations to that person well done
um vity the ISF also sold 30 grand for
that car which that also feels was like
a really good buy for 30 grand what's
the mileage on this what's the mileage
this was 100,000 miles but it's like
reliable they don't they're not as
affected by Miles as you think an 11 M3
with 100 is like a throwaway car almost
people like scared but that's the thing
about these isfs the used Market values
reliability far greater than performance
and that sort of thing and so these isfs
have retained their value unbelievably
well they sell for the same when we
launched this like five years ago they
haven't Chang their value at all it's
amazing it's like Miatas it's like
Miatas but not NDS right
but yeah we've sold quite a few ISF this
was like a late one too but yeah I think
12 was the last year I think but they're
right there they're all kind of in and
around that for the most part they're
kind of around around 30 to 40 yeah yeah
really low mileage ones will still bring
real money but um like you'd have to
have a high mileage 08 to crack under
20 right yeah that's a pretty good buy
and if you have a blue one I'm still
waiting to review a blue one yeah that
one in the bottom right is nice that
remains my dream yeah that car came to
us but it wasn't anywhere near here
otherwise I would have done it ult look
like a Connecticut plate I wasn't going
to fly to Connecticut to review an ISF
it looks like Connecticut cool though it
may be cool though it may be wow kenin
pull up another car that we want to
discuss oh the new WR so some cars that
are cars that are coming up so we have
that uh that three manual Ferrari 360 so
also a manual conversion I believe is
everybody just swapping these now yeah I
think if you can like why wouldn't yeah
why wouldn't you I mean it just makes it
so much more now the 360 with a manual
they made quite a few of them yeah it's
weird to swap a 360 cuz half of 360s
were sticks is my understanding cuz I
owned one but I think it's just it's so
much more pleasant to drive than that
early F1 system and so a lot of people
swap them um and it makes sense wow
front plate is this in
Canada uh this car wow doing it yeah
good for him compliant compliant yeah
what's the difference in value between
Factory F1 versus stick um for a 360
f1's got to be like
45 no I think they're that it's not that
much cuz stick 360s are findable by the
way you don't like these wheels I kind
of like them you don't like them they're
not my favorite go back to the exterior
Ken zoom out showing the wheel directly
come on so you don't like them up close
you like them generally I think it looks
good the 360 was under wheeled o true
now this guy the stock wheels are
included with this one which side shot
go to that side shot I kind of like that
H it looks like a more modern Ferrari
wheel to be totally honest just put F430
wheels on it if you're going to do no
that's what everybody does it looks
wrong well this looks wrong too no no
that looks that looks okay I'm into that
the car comes with stock wheels I put
the stock wheel personally or is it auro
it's auro yeah I believe it
isio alloy which is also blish yeah it's
another very good color in the 360 and I
think this car has daytonas if memory
service me as well I can't believe all
these stick swaps how funny this is just
like the thing now yeah well it's like
you know the the companies that are
doing this really hit on a good Market
this it's a really good idea it just
makes the car so much more enjoyable and
you can't get them you can't get new
ones in the market cly value so here's a
question transmiss 599 sticks they made
four they all cost $4 billion
yes I know like at something but now
they presumably that car will now become
like deeply swapped right does that
impact the value of the factory ones
must I mean at some point it's like I
think Factory is Factory and like that's
just I guess but it's at some point it's
like Okay Okay the reason people are
buying like the 599s that are collectibl
the sa aarto the GTO and well nobody's
going to convert a coupe to an sa a
perta so that's you're safe that's not
going to have exactly that's safe so
like the only way to differentiate like
power move I think the people like the
manual Factory manual ones are just
collector's items they I don't think
anybody's driving driv the problem I
generally agree but like let's how let's
say they made $4,599 just for sake of
argument and there are like 11 sticks
but if like 2,800 get converted it's
like okay oh you got one of the 11 cool
so do 2,800 other dudes I don't think I
don't think 2800 people are going to
spend the 60 Grand whatever it cost to
do the over time how many 430s have been
converted there are a lot and then you
go to Cars and Coffee and it's like oh a
stick 430 but you don't know I don't
know that one you would never know right
that one yeah the one of the one of the
giveaways is that they most of the
companies that do these conversions
can't put the Ferrari logo on the shift
pattern and so like if it's not there
that's a pretty easy sign the sh pedals
on the steering wheel and the holes
where the shift pedals were if someone
someone wants to do it right they
replace the trim all together but I'll
bet that cost a fortune if you can get
it at all get it at all doing that uh
and nobody's that pedantic although I
would be I would be too but like okay I
I hate to say this but as a person who's
like in kind of like interested in these
cars like I would for 800 grand for a
stick 5 99 or 1200 for a conversion
that's like a no- Brandon to me I don't
care about the collectibility of it
right what about super America those are
like 200 grand for and a million like
it's just stupid and mercy is the same
thing I mean the concept that a a
regular Mercy is a 200 car and that a
stick Mercy is like a 600 car it's like
laughable oh it's ridiculous that one LP
640 that manual that right recently sold
for like a million5 it's ridiculous
toally you get car most people wouldn't
be able to see the difference on 200
yeah 650 was a good result on that let's
start swapping these things now the
mercy is protected because there's not a
swap available right now not yet but you
got it's coming it's coming because the
interest in Mercy's is deeply deeply
growing oh yeah nice he Zooms in on yeah
there it is the could see that from a
mile away tall ship yeah um oh that's
cool yeah that's a fantast fantastic
silver wheels on there Ken give us
another question all right let's have
another look at the question how does he
go side to side on his computer screen
we'll never know he's a wizard he's a
totally wizard totally totally wizard
kenon give us a good
one Kenan um let's
see what's the best all so Derek ask
what's the best all round alternative to
used
911
Cayman that's my opinion too there's
nothing done next question it's so true
though it's so true like and uh one one
of our video editors Nick is thinking
about uh getting rid of his Mustang and
potentially getting a Cayman I think
that's a wonderful move Cayman are just
they're just great just great sports
cars 987 came in is just wonderful car
they're all 981s they're not even all
that expensive anymore 981s have come
down to a pretty affordable level wait I
want to do the one just below that but
can you go to 981s really quick
mhm what are what are like regular early
981 selling
for so what ises that 14 sell for 50
that's a pdk
GTS is a wow that's got pcbs pccb that's
that that's not a good example because
it's a pretty that's pretty highly
optioned yeah give me like a like an
early early
981 which was what like 13 what is that
30 what is that white
one Canon is clicking too quick he too
quick this what this one's pretty base
but 14 with 72,000 miles we sold it for
29 that's a bargain that's what 981 sell
for so that I mean 987s are are only a
couple grand less than that just get a
981 you'd have to get pdk yeah that's a
lot of car that's a lot of car still a
lot of car a lot more modern than all
the trims I like all of them even the
bass like isn't that bad the Bas is a
car also you just toss around and have a
great time with it's just like fun it's
a fun Simple Car GTS is probably the
sweet spot and so yeah it seems like
perhaps it seems like a boring answer to
answer a Porsche question with a Porsche
answer but I think that it like it is a
genuine like it depends on what you want
to do oh by the way Boxster to yeah
thank you thank you I like a good
convertible yeah like good pan if you
want aord that's our answer Porsches
okay however much Porsche you can afford
however much Porsche you can get this
question Justin what car brand needs you
as a consultant for a day and and what
would you tell them to do okay the
answer is Nissan here's what I would
tell them to do okay the Nissan extera
uh was made from 1990 from 2000 until
2012 or 15 that Nissan canceled the
exterior the day before the off-road SUV
Enthusiast Market took off the Toyota
4Runner TRD Pro has been out for I don't
know 25 years in its current form and
it's still over sticker five over still
to this day these things are over the um
the Sequoia TRD Pro the GW wagon the
Raptor the etc etc etc all of these cars
are radically popular these off-road
SUVs and Nissan bailed on the segment
the day before it took off and it's been
10 years and they're still kind of
taking like a wait and see approach to
see whether this will will really remain
popular so of all the problems of all
car brands you the new Hyundai Santa Fe
has come out and looks like a crazy
insane off-roader the new Lexus GX has
come out it looks like a like the world
has the kide they made it look like an
off-roader and it out sells its rival
it's its its stablemate the Palisade
vastly just because it looks cooler and
meanwhile Nissan is still sitting there
like you
know I'm not sure should we bring back
the extera no let's do another
generation of the
Maxima it's not like they're killing it
in any segment really but this was their
segment it's like how Volkswagen owned
the van segment for years and now the
Sprinter lives there in Volkswagen's
like you
know I'm not sure probably Sprinter sell
for like
$400,000 it's insane think about it how
is Nissan not back in this world with
the exteror am I wrong about this yes
what
cuz who's buying it the no one cares
Toyota sold 400,000 4Runners last year
they're too established with that cuz
that's the one you'd get even if they
came out with a new
one okay but the Raptor at one one point
the Raptor was a new car and then
everybody bought it they were going to
cancel the gag Chevy came in 10 years
later with the ZR2 and nobody bought
that cuz they made it they they half
asked it like everything GM does that's
true if Nissan showed up with a good
extera that like was just as good or
better than the Forerunner and looked
cool it would have cred because they did
it in the past yeah they invented the
segment and then bailed on it just as it
was heating up it's
insane I mean I wouldn't be a buyer so
that's a tough one for me to how am I
wrong okay fine what is your
answer
uh what's a misled
company I can't believe you're not I'm
still thinking about your Nissan answer
do you have an answer for that um BMW
bring back the manual transmission yeah
yeah that's true man Empire I I feel
that Aston is a very misled company um I
think Aston well I mean they nobody
they're they're making these I think the
the 707 I think was a really smart
choice to make it it finally made that
car desirable because we used to go um
to Orange County and we would see the
Asen do is just full of dbxs like oh
yeah you could not sell the cars the 707
comes out makes it really desirable
because it's insane and so like I think
Aston I think Aston is I I just think
they they have some things they could
probably change um some things they
could probably change I'm over here
saying bring back the extera and make it
good and you're like oh Aston has some
things they could probably change yeah I
don't know I don't know how to fix it
this is the thing a lot of people have
tried with Aston Martin to fix it and
can't it's a desirable brand that when
people have they don't actually people
buy the company actually turn out they
don't okay here's an Aston Martin Theory
I want you to Noodle with mentally Aston
is a design desirable brand among people
who can't afford
Aston but among people who can it's not
all that desirable because you'd rather
just end up with a Ferrari yeah or a
Porsche honestly or people who have
moved to the US from England right they
always they all have asked okay think
about that really I think Jaguar is the
same way you hear about people who can't
afford a new jag jag but like people who
are in that space they don't want
anything to do with that trash I don't
know if anyone's really Desiring a Jag
anymore though you're right that days
those days are kind of does still have
that like brand but I think Aston is
especially excitable to people who are
not buying an ason and they kind of keep
the brand there's some interest there
but not at
$375,000 which is somehow what every new
Aston costs right every one of them I
think the uh DBS superer the final ones
are like half a m maybe they should
Maserati themselves and sell a $68,000 c
that worked out so well for
Maserati those $59 9 leases on gibl hey
man those cars are now 12gs and Kenan is
thinking about one instead of a 500e
because it would probably be cheaper to
own prob might be but no I'm not
thinking about that um okay Kenan give
us another
question uh okay so Doug what is the
status of selling your G wagon because
you mentioned that you were going to get
rid of it and uh my G wagon I've decided
to sell my yellow Defender
Instead This was a lot of back and forth
I'm not going to sell it to sell my
yellow Defender I was going to sell the
G wagon I I I only wanted to sell the G
wagon because I wanted to like sell some
cars like get some stuff out of my life
you are in a pairing down face yeah and
the yellow Defender is is the same
amount of stuff like physically is the
same size and so it's going in Step but
he just gets bored you thought about the
Ford G and then you drove you're like
never mind and then you were like you
you were thinking about that car and
then you're like good riddens you just
go even care GT yeah I care GT briefly
it's like when the market was down the
stock market went back up a little wor
it's not going anywhere um no I'm not
selling the G but I am selling my yellow
Defender which will be I'm selling it at
3 weeks I'm just waiting for photos and
I'm also selling my Land Cruiser 2013
Land Cruiser which Kenan is going to be
bidding on no I am not it's ready to
start a family he needs a nice family
car yeah as a single 28-year-old
definitely ready to start a family this
car you're not going to be blizzard much
money in that car maintaining that last
year as I did my M5 those were all
elective everything I did was elective
everything was elected okay other than
the alternator failed two times I am on
my third alternator in a year but who
isn't not me auto part stores are too um
okay here's what happened with the Land
Cruiser it's a perfect car I think you
should consider it there's a little
scrape on the front corner from what my
from my nanny she didn't disclose that
she did it but I believe that she did
because she took it out one day and it
came back with a scrape on the corner
other than that it's a great great car
here's what happened with the Land
Cruiser okay and I'm I got a video
coming about this but I discovered that
there are some f flaws with that motor
and so I fixed them all and in
discovering them I discovered there's
actually more flaws than I thought
considering what everybody says about
the Land Cruiser right even we talked it
up for such a long time right really
come through for you right right and so
now I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna sell it it's
got all that stuff done and Kenan is a
buyer
don't think so but you're replacing
it yeah I'm going to get a sequoia which
is great camo seats camo cladding Kenan
you got any thoughts on camo seats you
wish you had camo seats in your car nope
actively would avoid that I do have
ostrich leather seets that's that's
right Sam well remembered man maybe I
should get some exotic seats he has
ostrich oh like text yeah it's what it's
for not real a then the sport seats yeah
not maybe it is no it's not definitely
not Ken give us Mass produce BMW Ken
give us a question for Sam yeah all
right Sam what is your idea of the best
reliable daily for under 40 Grand I know
the anything I know the answer that
Sam's going to say what Cayenne Turbo
yeah well you're going to say either
cayen or paname of some kind Sam is such
a Porsche guy I'm So Into cayenne and P
paname right now they are so cool Sam
wants to get himself a Ed Cayenne I do
95.2 turbo would be such a good daily
driver so few had adaptive Crews though
what they pull it up does adaptive
cruise Go full speed in that car I don't
know it was like 16 so probably not
although maybe some of them did back
then yeah it was just a little jerky but
my 12 Benz did High turbo even the that
new body style that one bid to 72 which
seems like a pretty good result to me
but uh those have come 16 for a turbo
the problem is kenon doesn't know
$150,000,000 a lot of miles a pre it
also underscores like put miles on the
thing it's like K look put the minimum
year at baller put the minimum year at
what 14 15 uh
15 okay wow pretty good filters
here thanks so look at that 66 for like
a new body style one yeah that's a 19
that's pretty good for some reason those
the newer gen doesn't seem as desirable
40 was the question here 40 Grand was
the right 40 Grand right right oh yeah
we're at 80 now what are they sold for
48 can the 40 guys stretch to 48 so
maybe it's a 0.1 but I do think a 0.1
Cayenne Turbo 958 was the question
specifically asking about like four-door
four seat practi I was asking for fun
fun reliable daily under 40 Grand
preferably a V8 and that's Manda who
asked that okay so Sam says a Ken which
has a uh which does have a V8s right
yeah or the GTS which now are less than
20 grand the correct answer of course is
the second gen Cadillac
CTSV bizarre answer 556 horsepower you
want drag race I'll drag graer Cayenne
Turbo you have all that plastic
inside yeah it's PL no don't not a CPE I
prefer not a coup personally myself but
you prefer the coue no I prefer not a
coupe I prefer sedan or a wagon but wag
tip wag sell for this yeah wow 33 yeah
tip one sell for 33 that's pretty good
yeah for 556 horsepower oh that interor
is so bad though it's got that screen
that rises out of the dash yeah it was
it was a very general motor interior but
it would be reliable and it would be fun
and it is under 40 here's the question
how come General Motors for decades just
developed signal stocks that remind you
of old people there wasn't that was
their target they had years too like
they there were different ones but every
time they'd come out with a new signal
stock which they put in every car right
it was like old people they're not still
using that same one they might be might
they might be or a new version of it
right old
people I don't even know how that makes
sense this car doesn't remind me of old
people but the signal St was just always
like yeah oh but a base CPS sedan we
have one coming up by the way like a
really nice 3.6 there were two v6s on
that CTS a three l and a 3. 3.6 was the
one you wanted 300 horsepower people
coming with like 11,000 miles no Reserve
very interesting result guaranteed it
was an old person who bought it and
loved their has had a great life right
Ken what are their questions that's a
pretty good answer though yeah those
good answers give Sam a good
one let's see here Sam oh how about that
one from Shams do you see any cuvs being
sought after in the future that's an
interesting CUV like crossovers are
there any like like long-term desirable
yeah no you don't what do you think's
going to happen to maccan Turbo like
does that become an $88,000 car you guys
sold one today didn't you this morning
what did that bid to what does a 15
Macon turbo go for in 20130 you
know yeah that's a pretty good daily for
under 30 actually
that's a pdk yep 400 Turbo V6 so not
that's a quick car and they handle so to
drive fun drive I had my first Macan
experience recently cuz I had a loner
while my car was getting an oil change
and it was like great it was a base maon
but like handled well it the interior
feels that Porsche premium yeah that
screen looks and pdk which kayen doesn't
have that's the kind of the Maan benefit
the Maan is definitely the sportier of
the two yeah that's a great choice um
are any other crossovers though like FP
svr depends what happens to Jag but that
won't be no it just won't be if you look
at the other like xvr Land Rovers and
all those are all just going in One
Direction reliability is the problem
there um it would have to be a reliable
crazy car was any crossover like really
desirable is the is the P song way count
no but I am curious what happens to the
the V12 ones the value
yeah I mean you have to imag going to go
down but like it's a V12 modern SUV CUV
sort of thing it's just in general
though I wonder about P even the V8s
because Ferraris use Ferraris as like a
floor they never trade less than
whatever it is for that you know like
they just kind of like Cali 35
California have yeah M's are cheap but
even they have a if it was
a you know a lot of other cars from that
period other sports cars are now free
xjs is like a $100 car Craigslist you
know right like I does purro sway follow
the depreciation curve of a cayenne and
like become free or does cen's a
desirable car and they're a 100 off
sticker right so yeah an 0304 Cayenne is
an $8,000 card is is Puro sangu someday
become or because it's a Ferrari is it
yeah that's a good question I don't know
we'll find out production numbers
probably plays a role yeah and the v12s
I think are a limited production car but
not officially a limited production car
I think they made it initially to get it
out there and be crazy and then after
that it'll go away pretty fast I would
imagine yeah I wonder if they're selling
them keep them going I think emissions
eventually will get to them yeah in
their lineup I think no other crossovers
are like really that cool there was
never like a GT3 right type there's a
few SUVs like Trail trackhawk oh
interesting yeah trackhawk was cool
limited big displacement yeah never
going to
yeah Durango thing Durango yeah um okay
kenon give us another
one all right let's see uh if you had
Sal uh Sean asks if you had Su of brunai
money what car would you commission wow
so like basically you have free reain
wow that's a really Excell question new
S-Class wagon for
[Laughter]
sure same goes for a practical
comfortable start there start there s
the brunai was is was a special time too
because the automakers needed him right
he like self-funded Bentley I think if
you called Ferrari today and said I want
stick a stick sp3 they'd be like nah
we're all good and you'd be like we'll
give you 10 million and they'd be like
you know what I we're all set thank you
so much back then they were like oh a
man will take 12 456 and turn them into
station wagons we would turn them into
monster trucks if it meant we could sell
456 what would the modern equivalent of
a 456 Venice B unfortunately it would be
a a a FF or whatever GT foro which is
already a station wagon they sort of
followed his lead everyone sort of
followed his lead Bentley ended up
making that's so true Ken what would you
commission I don't know that's hard
because there are so many crazy cars
that already exist like the sp3 is like
is like car in that vein would be cool
but they already make the sp3 and it's
awesome he can only imagine what an
automaker can already deliv gting break
I'm like a German I can't get like the
creativity to like think um I don't know
I would I really need to think about
that I definitely think off-road
versions of some SUVs that are on the
market i' do an off-road orus an
off-road BGA I would do some but it does
not exist and be very difficult but I
would love a super car from BMW a modern
M1 I would love something like that like
that concept card that did yeah like the
I think something like that would be so
cool cuz BMW has other than the M1 has
never done a car like that and I would
love a modern BMW like as a super car I
think would be so cool it probably end
up being like the Audi avus Quattro sort
of thing but I would love love that yeah
that would be cool a GT4 shooting break
off-road version off-road version came
in GT4 shooting break stor IED would be
cool definitely a lifted BGA with some
off-road stuff um that you can like do
though but I want an OE and I want an
exterior roll cage wow exoskeleton yeah
nice for the rock crawling yeah yeah uh
GT3 Targo would be kind of nice
something like that GT3 didn't they make
they do that program don't they yeah
they have some special programs
seemingly no one's ever done it though
right I've never seen one but they have
to be the soul now you just give Porsche
a million dollars and they'll build they
will do it right but one of the Porsche
family members had like a GT3 RS
convertible or something like that yeah
that would be a few years I I remember
one that was done but it didn't have the
engine it the rest of the car was a GT3
RS convertible yeah yes I know that one
exactly what I'm talking about it's a
place in OC that like does all that you
know what the answer also is kenon you
remember that 288 GTO that like new 288
GTO no no no the there was like a modern
one that was a rendering that was going
around Instagram do you remember that I
do I'm going to see if I can find it
yeah like that yellow
one that would be
cool I
think there was also a new testos body
there was also a new test Roa that was
going around that was so that one I do
yeah that was the one we like really
loved right see if I can find that
rendering yeah look at that upper left
yeah like that I mean granted they went
with the f512m inspired headlights but
that is so true the I love the a12 super
fast Wheels I mean it kind of fits cuz
the throwing stars like that would be
cool to Commission looks right it looks
the thing about some of these
commissions is they're kind of stupid
but this looks like something fori would
actually build that looks so cool that
348 back kind of I mean the tester Roa
had the same treatment as the 348 for
the rear but yeah that's that's I mean
that's I'd be into that yeah that would
be cool that would be so cool like a
modern version of an older car a
Countach but done
well that would be cool they did try
that yeah some of these companies have
tried don't you think a Kos done well
would look really cool yeah I don't
disagree yeah Lamborghini's done a few
cool concept cars that would be cool
yeah that a Stoke a Stoke just a
four-door you get a nurse I get nurse
with an
exoskeleton Mall crawling no I would
off-road it yeah great question though
Sean great question
um let's see uh we do have some other
cars that are coming up this week too
that I wanted to to talk about briefly
um oh yeah this m coup one of them is
this yeah this BMW M Coupe this clown
shoe this is an s54 powered car right
which I was which you taught us the
other day yeah the ways to tell an s54
powered one versus an s52 powered car
one is that these cars had uh of course
I click on the image won't load um the
wheels on this car are the finished in
Chrome Shadow the same as the E39 M5
they're the only other BMW wheels to be
finished that way to my knowledge and
they're real they they are different the
normal Wheels on the S 52 cars were just
painted silver so this is a very special
finish on these cars the other way is
that this car got the facelifted badg
now go to the go to an s52 we've sold
and show me what the old badge looks
like sure think so let me pull that up
so those wheels are very special but you
are screwed if you curb one well the guy
we have people you got the Okay click on
that red one cck on that red one the
first one all right so pull up the rear
shot yep so you can see how see how the
badge is flatter here go back to the
other badge like the E36 M3 so it's like
very flat looking and on this car see
how it's more curved and rounded oh is
right so that yeah of course I'm
right these two these two idiots doubted
by BMW knowledge go back to the other
one go back to the other one see much
more flat right from the E36 got to
think the engines E46 much more E46 wait
go back again I want to see if there's
other stuff no not really not a not a
ton I believe the other things were um
what a weird car this was why did happen
how did it how did that get through the
lawyers and they were like yeah let's do
a hatchback I think be the lore goes
it's because the engineers built this
car and then Executives drove it and
we're like you they could make it cheap
because it used a lot of parts from the
the existing um Roadster and also the
E36 M3 and they're like okay we can make
it cheaply it drives really really well
okay we we'll Greenlight it and then no
one bought it why didn't they do that
with the uh e92 pickup truck nice well
nice nice I don't think that drove as
well as the other 92s that existed at
the time well plus there's the chicken
tax they could never actually do it with
a pickup truck that they made overseas
because they they'd have to pay the
import Duty oh interesting 25% Kenan
knows all about the chicken Texas he
like a nice chicken he had to uh build
his pickup truck startup here in the
United States but nonetheless this one
39,000 miles so the Madge also on the
side gills on the sides is that same
it's just flatter on the 52 corre and
then also the gauge color change so they
did the s54 is have the E46 M3 and one
sh with pleasure I believe that's true I
believe that's true wow wow po who knew
kenan's got all these I I figured there
I know something I BMWs what an
interesting color com what about the
seats are the seats the same seats are
the same yeah I don't think those
changed at all yeah same you can get
them in two tone as well interesting now
we know good decision not to get them in
two tone
but so this one is ending when tomorrow
so this one yeah this one ends tomorrow
and it's an s54 car that's a pretty car
so cool no accidents on car facta I mean
I I really like these cars my only us to
with them is like the E the E36 and E46
M3 are both excellent and cost
substantially less and so and I just
have always gravitated towards those
cars but man I would love a shoe yeah
but this is special it is special it is
special but then again you get 2 G you
get in it you you turn the lights on it
goes like if you don't if you don't have
the car on like it's just like there's a
lot of E30 in the car it's like it's not
it's built like an E36 at the end of the
day which was not known for its build
quality um there's a lot of Parts
recycling from the E30 like these Vents
and and stuff like that so it's a lot of
rattle canny for for how much they cost
but the Driving Experience having I
drove that s52 those the best cars and
it drove so great I drove that a uh an
NSX and an E46 M3 all on the same day
and then I also drove a 993 Turbo S the
next day and of them Dam f for the for
the money good for him it was it was a
great two days but for the money the one
I had the most fun in was the Clown Shoe
like it just was so balanced and fun and
like didn't have to worry about it
scraping I was terrified scraping the
NSX and all those are great cars and
their own right but for the money dollar
per fun like I had the most fun in the
clown CH yeah that was an 52 car and
it's so just so special it's such an
interesting look whenever I see one I
still freak out even a nonm I'm still
like this is so weird totally yeah and
people forget that they made the
standard car as a Coupee too as a
non-mar tip you can just drive it around
and use it like a hatchback yeah exactly
in BD so this car was more E30 and the
z4m coups were more E9 that was kind of
more E90 cuz it was already the next
generation of cars I got this car was
more E36 in fact the model code is oh
E36 E36 yeah E36 d8 for the for the Cs
did you know that no I didn't they kept
the E36 chassis designation weird now
they change the chassis designation when
the car has a different color
yeah I mean I'm not wrong there's like
like there's like 18 chassis
designations for the new three series
but back then E36 that was the Z3 too
right it made no
sense yeah but very cool car that one's
and then the last one I was asked to
mention was this uh this yeah this humer
the dog is a former humer owner can you
reflect on uh reflect on this car little
bit in your Hummer ownership experience
would have been better with a diesel
they look cool they're baller you can go
anywhere with them this one is a
missions smog Exempted California Sam if
you're interested cuz it's a diesel you
want to if you want to think about it
you want a wagon you want a wagon wagons
just look way cooler than the soft tops
you got to have a wagon or a pickup
pickups look pretty cool too but a lot
of them were the twodo like soft top
things if you can get a slant back
that's cool too but they didn't really
make them for the civilian Market I
became kind of a Hummer expert during
the experience and uh you tracked yours
didn't you yeah took it on the New
Jersey Motorsports Park wow what a waste
of a day good content K give us two two
more good questions and then we'll sign
off for the day all right let's have a
look make him make him Sam
specific Sam specific how about that how
about that question from dimma what do
you think about the Mercedes McLaren SLR
that's a very good Sam question yep Sam
that's your cars I think that the
roadsters are cool I personally would
never get one it's got that same
five-speed from the SL65 right yeah but
it could handle 7,000 horsepower yeah I
mean it's super baller and we used to
joke about that car being 10 grand a
corner for brakes turns out that's like
pretty normal for for cars in that realm
yeah I mean career GT is up there too
yeah but it's a career GT what so what
do you think you think it's cool I like
the um engine start
button right I like side pipes yep and I
like the way the hood comes forward yep
and that's pretty much all that's
it I'm like really into the SLR what do
those cost I have no idea
they were cheap I don't know if they
still are can I get one for like
250 that's what I that's what I want to
pay right Manny's got them all call me
when you can get me one at 250 that's
what I'm to tell her yeah I should call
they were 250 I do appreciate how the
Roadster maintained those doors like
perfectly yeah I don't want a roadster
though I think the cop is there's
something special about roader yeah K be
doors go up the same way on both of them
all right click on that click on that
we're on classic.com what are these
things selling for so you want a CPE
you're saying so yeah give me a c i want
a want 303 aage 303 huh it still seems
like especially when you consider the
other cars that that was like fighting
with at the time right Enzo Enzo is 4
million Kut is a million five this is
33,8 whatever granted you got a five
speed you got a down what are these
actually selling for what what did they
sell for Barrett Jackson last week I'll
buy one of million dollar I'll pay two
one of these things let's see bar
Jackson right there 332 for a tmu car
wow that's more than I want to pay yeah
that's if I'm if I'm PID 332 I'd like to
know the miles that' be good
generally yeah that's kind of what slrs
are going for these days 313 it does
seem like a very special car like if we
saw one we'd freak out you just never SE
huh you thinking you should be maybe
instead of AO you should you should what
about you nah
you like a you like bad breake response
that's it doesn't break
well neither the F40 you're over here
talking on the oh I love yeah but the
Hood's not 8T long on that car and you
can't see where it is okay so you think
that the front the front end right
correspond to braking response no it
makes it much you when you're parking
you need brake response when you're
moving and you press the pedal it
doesn't do anything and you run into
something because it's too long it makes
it difficult I had to move a lot of
those cars around my the longer the
front end the better the brakes should
be and because The Brak should just work
generally as a car the fact that this is
coupled with a car that has a nose that
is so long it's like an anteater wild so
you think like Volkswagen vanan breaks
unnecessary because front end you're
right there I'm saying it is more
because of the car's shape and the fact
that the brakes don't work it is really
annoying to drive and that is true the
brakes work it was just an early carbo
ceramic and so you have to press you
have you have to
you have to press it down hard very
annoying car to drive I that's I think
they look great you know how like the
Enzo has that long nose to be like F1
car yeah that was the point of that were
they doing that too yeah yeah Mercedes
McLaren right that's fair they ran out
of ideas so everyone was just and so in
order to make it especially like an F1
car they gave it a 5-speed
automatic very
special that was the goal and it says
SLR in giant print in the center control
stack right I K you got another
one let's
see not especially going
through scroll down there's there's
other good ones I saw another good one
go down further further which which car
Oliver ask which car brand has the best
adaptive cruise and Lane keeping
assist do you think I should answer this
question correctly or or like am my
politically correct answer the answer is
no longer Tesla Sam wants to get a t
Tesla is such a mistake it's Appliance
car yeah but it doesn't you have to
babysit the Adaptive now Tesla had to
update their adaptive cruise the other
day and now you have to like jiggle the
wheel day this was like like December
like it was like six weeks ago you got
to jiggle the wheel now to tell the car
you're there
beep
beep so what car doesn't do that that
you also have to have your eyes monitor
a lot of them any car with a capacitive
touch Steering Wheel that's the game
changer in the self-driving world you
want to have a capacitive touch Steering
Wheel and Mercedes BMW
um My Land Rover my um Toyota all them
Chrysler which is my favorite personally
um Jeeps get away with it they're trying
to sell them in any touch wheel is the
greatest
benefit so what's the answer I don't
know anything with the
wheel Sam answer one of these and then
we'll stop give us one good one one good
one one California answer that where are
you
looking do you think the Ferrari
California is undervalued in the current
market is it 80 Shams ask that one yeah
uh is it 80 uh 80 yeah figure 80 85 80 I
don't think they're under think it's
properly valued I think it's properly
valued but I still think it's a buy yeah
yeah I think it's a but the people
buying them aren't buying them because
they're like it's a 3.8 to 60 front
engine Ferrari convertible but the
people buying them aren't buying them
for those items they're buying them
because it's a Ferrari it's a Ferrari
they want the key there's a lot of rims
there's a key yep right yeah but it is a
pretty impressive car to drive just
embarrassing to be seen in though I yeah
among our crowd but like you drive that
car most places and it's like whoa a
Ferrari right I wonder if those are
swappable by way that was DCT right by
the way they did make it with a manual
as well they did drag race you in a Cali
against your little boxer spider any day
of the
week you would definitely win probably
win in the E wagon you think so yeah
it's not about speed Doug it's about the
experience of driving the car I think
the Cali has a great driving C does have
a great driving exp I think the Cali is
underrated but not
undervalued that's a good way yeah yeah
I agree with that because an AMG GT is
probably
undervalued a Cali is not undervalued at
its price point right 80s 0 is the money
yeah if it is the modern mondal right
those are 35 right okay that's our Sam
do you have any other thoughts for
us no not much else to leave you guys
with you don't have any thoughts any
like Words of Wisdom words of
wisdom no I got no wisdom Che kenon
anything I still want a boxer spider
yeah that's wisdom that's some Sam
wisdom and I want a new WRX
goodbye everyone
goodbye
