hello
everybody oh god oh man mute yourself
good
heaven doing it till I get
dizzy man I'm in like right in
projectile vomit range you that I just
had Curry spinning like a
sprinkler go the other way recalibrate
your equilibrium there this is cars and
bids podcast or video
live and uh we have hooie today hovie
tell us hello I have a YouTube channel
called hoovies garage how many Subs you
got now
1.54 million how many monthly views you
get I don't know four four to six
million views a month yeah something
like that four or six four to six
usually depends on how much I post
because I don't I used to post twice a
week religiously like you I've gone down
to about six a month so sometimes I
don't post twice a week why because I
feel like the videos need to be longer
and have more in it to keep up with
today's you know watch time longer
videos seem to do better so where I used
to be able to do like the buy and then
everything that's wrong and then do
something fun and then you know I have
to sort of combine that if there's not
enough meat do you are you doing Tik
Tock no are you on the the Tik Tock
there with all the young kids no you're
not doing Tic Tac you're not doing are
you doing YouTube shorts it's not
because I'm worried about someone is the
Chinese getting my stuff it's just
because I don't understand it I guess
I'm old are you doing YouTube shorts uh
I've done a few shorts but no I haven't
no what is happening here I I don't know
what is going on they're trying not to
show that is my brain weak or no signal
check your input connection all right
there we go it was so good before that's
the sad part right huh um so you're not
doing any of that no is that bad yeah I
think that I think that they promote you
more if you do the shorts because they
want people to do shorts so badly that
they they push you up they're desperate
because of the Tik Tok yeah well how are
your views nowadays they're fine yeah I
mean still month by month yeah you you
just sort of run out of like the really
crazy cars like the F40 you do the F40
and you're done if there were more then
you would get 10 million view videos
there was a time when I got more views
but I think that's true for most of us
based on what I'm saying yeah I think
that Tik Tok has come and really pulled
away some audience and I think YouTube
is desperate to try to catch up right
with shorts which has not been as
successful it's certainly not as
successful for creators and the other
real issue is that shorts is not easy to
monetize have you no the screen is not
easy to get work apparently either but
uh there's some sort of issue with our
production we Have No what's no idea
what's going on I I suppose you're right
but and when you get a hot new car you
still blow up the internet when you do
your your cars and business I always
love the older weirder stuff and I'd
watch those a lot more but I was in the
minority with that stuff and you would
sort of shy away from it before cars in
business because you're like oh no I'm
not going to get the views with this car
but now you're sort of free because it's
also a promotional tool for cars and
this is I think what people don't
understand I got complaints for so long
you don't do enough weird cars you don't
do enough quirky cars you don't stupid
cars and now I'm able to do them all
because we run them on the site but now
people are like you're just promoting
the it's like well no win you can't on
the internet there's none even when I
remember you used to complain that I
spoke too slowly so I started speaking
faster you know about the Genesis of
this and so and so then yeah you made
fun of me in all these videos are you
speaking too slowly I I don't recall
ever doing that are you confusing me
with someone
else I don't even know what the problem
is it seems fine to me yeah it'll fix it
mhm god um and so I started speaking
faster and then I started getting
complaints I was trying to fast so then
I started slowing it down again and got
more complaints that I was trying to do
slow even though there's like a 1.25x
and stuff I I think I made fun of you
for over enunciating some things but but
it was funny I like in a in a not like
stop doing it but in a you know you
thought it was funny but it still haunts
me to this day I'm sorry I'm sorry what
is the issue kipo give us give usup give
us a tech update here kipo what's going
we go to the screen for the live show
viewers that has that's having some
issues that I supect connection related
so don't go to the screen just say here
this is fine right instead of instead of
running through the live show for the
last 40
minutes because yeah I know but we you
you you it's impossible you have no idea
how distracting is we're trying to have
a conversation and he's out here blowing
on the USB courus did you hear that like
an old Nintendo like NES yeah I suppose
now is a really good time mentioned that
we will be taking a break from the L
while we're going to be switching to
podcast format this is our last live
show for a little while we're going to
start doing podcasts after this but
because hooie is here can we click
because that's I'm here 40 seconds
there's bidding right now on my M6 H's
M6 is Indianapolis red why do you they
call it that I have no idea because they
try to name all their like Special M
colors after racetracks so Indian 500
that's where from we learned something
I'm happy to share the knowledge yeah
Marina blue
yeah yes Marina Circuit of course right
Imola I went to Y Marina Dakar water I
didn't see water that
blue saw a lot of human rights
violations I knew that's exactly where
you were going to go with it okay all
right what do you got here they've got a
battle here going on so I bought this
car with the intention of doing a
six-speed manual swap on it and um when
I got the wrong car I actually bought it
on cars and bids a 645 or 650 thinking
that was the right transmission it was
the wrong transmission I was supposed to
get an
M3 first but my my friend is also like
the national expert on the conversions
and so like his friend is like the lead
he he's converted like 50 SMG m5s to it
was fine I was reluctant to do it anyway
I was scared like I once I got the car
and realized like this thing is such a
museum piece even though it is an SMG
but it's 20,000 miles and the color of
the spec and everything I felt terrible
about doing it and then I it was just I
took it as like a sign I was like okay
I'm not meant to do this I'm not meant
to do the swap and so I left it alone
and enjoyed it for a bit and bidding is
strong it is going yes yes I think it is
uh on the low well so it's a few grand
less than what I paid for it at this
point but uh when did you buy it last
year um yeah quite a year I've had it
the market has changed
mhm yes the market has changed I
remember here's a hooie story I remember
back when I was younger
two years ago three years ago you had
all these cars and I thought you were
insane for spending all your money on
cars and I remember you every dime I had
in debt and more it was laughable I mean
every year you'd be like I can't pay my
taxes because you'd bought spend all
your money cars and then there was a
year where you looked like an absolute
genius because every car you remember
this of course he was holding when when
the pandemic happened and car value shot
up he was
Holdings a k and Dia and suddenly he had
like quadrupled his money he and
stradman looked like they were the smart
people in the room MH but things have
changed a little since then except the
Kos except the K that keeps going that's
what did you pay for that that is the
deal I will never be able to replicate
ever because I bought the Diablo and the
coou at the same time from the same
person it was every di I had shaken
myself upside down for $250,000 for both
cars and he just wanted what he paid for
them 8 10 years ago man and um he had
gotten into tank he'd opened a tank
Museum this is a neurosurgeon a single
guy and he has this big mansion that's
on a dirt road he two countes a test
Rose every time he got depressed he
would buy an old exotic car but then he
switched to buying tanks lost interest
in the cars they sat forever like he had
this beautiful mahogany bar you know all
that stuff just full of reptiles and
then like drawing because he was a
surgeon you delicate H he was drawing
action figures you know the Warhammer
and stuff and like that was his chill
out thing to do and that was his whole
house decorated with it so I bought
those like I needed to take the cars
moment he said the price we make one
full call this deal is going away I'm
sure so I I took the cards got the check
got the titles got them out was able to
hang on to the Diablo for 6 eight months
before like I I pay taxes like I'm
barely in the yeah and sold that for
just under 300 and so I have and I
didn't spend more than 50 Grand fixing
both cars so it was I have a free
kage guys got a free free sitting over
here with a free Co pretty so I couldn't
be sad if this thing sells for $1,000
because of that that deal will always
make up for it right yeah what do you
think that what are the particulars how
many miles are on your your mine is 19
18,000 km about to go over 20 and it's
an injected anniversary injected so like
13 14,000 miles right uh pearl white
which is sort of unusual Bianca prata U
which is beautiful in person scary to
drive because any scratch on it I'm
repainting the whole thing it would
never match you know like the white
diamond TR coat on Cadillac when they
repay in a corner yeah so that's like a
400 car uh I've turned down from a guy
who flips them 450 at this point should
have taken that then no mean no like in
the last month you should take
no I want the car I'm keeping the car
yeah yeah it's it's still going special
yeah it's special do I have Curry right
here no you're just that's just such an
amazing what a beautiful thing okay
sorry bding still going
$28,000 so that's the thing tell us
about here's what I want to know from
you you put cars on our side all the
time yes how does that what's it like
the last minute are you nervous oh I
mean early on I think the first one with
the Phantom where was no Reserve with
you know like that was the second big
auction for you it's like is going to
happen right we all wondered that as you
risk a less expensive car your E63 wagon
I I was I was a riskier well you could
have put your Ford GT up there and
really didn't did the thing I wanted it
I still have it I know but um yeah mine
was a little bit more expensive and I
wondered what would happen and so it's
sold for like 70 GS to some like
influencers husband 69420 something like
that yeah just like some influencer's
husband in South Carolina and it worked
out they bought that and they bought the
db7 and when the db7 showed up I guess
his wife was like what the heck like
this needs to be now a onein one out
policy right now because they live in
South Carolina and they have the cars
outside like a phantom sitting outside
with two other Phantoms and stuff like
really crazy and so he's like I've got
this John CLA vanam Missour that this1
aour that was owned by John Claud vanam
and I need to get rid of it now it's
hasn't hasn't moved in a while but it
runs and drives for 25 Grand oh okay
yeah like yes and that turned into
that's how you bought that bought that I
I mean spent probably five grand on it
but then $
28,250 so um yeah that's I think that's
good money yes that's that's I'm not
that's good money for a pair I'm uh with
shipping I'm I got to enjoy that car for
free for almost a year so that's about
purpose you didn't really drive it a
whole lot so it didn't break all that
much I don't no so it had the SMG p63 M6
is here E63 this is the other E63
the Lesser
known okay so where we where are we
selling these things how many click on I
mean this your low miles in a cool color
a manual for 27 I mean that's pretty
good if it sticks for the same money 35
26 for
2 correct 35 is 26 yours is I suspect
these cars will become like coveted
someday they're relatively known
especially the the manual ones obviously
but like I it's just like was say
shorter wheelbase M5 same engine it
weighed I think 240 lbs less yeah but
but it does look like a parrot it's
uglier it does look like a parrot it has
not aged as gracefully as the E60 have I
don't think it's that bad and that so
that's 21,000 Mi is still enough to be
low enough to be a collector grade car
with a cool spec so I think that's a
good buy for someone to just put a
thousand or two miles a year on it for
10 years and it's a special occasion car
MH yep because you're just too afraid to
use it and wear out those rod bearings
and those throttle accur and all that
well this one had yeah no rod bearings
or the yeah the uh the vano stuff but
the SMG pump had been replaced on this
car just the fellow who bought this car
also bought that Ferrari California from
the other day H that was that was a buy
wasn't it it was a crazy buy it was a
$52,000 purchase of a Ferrari California
yeah absolutely wild he's been on a ton
of stuff but then he got that I mean
that's a car may I don't know if if
there's if you advertise it really high
maybe one person's crazy you sit on for
years but not no this is this is easier
it's done immediately it's sold so yeah
thank you well done good job good job
guys there's two more H cars left today
correct that we're selling which is in
15 minutes we have the million mile
Ram which you just told me and it it
really burst my bubble that because it
is tmu it is not officially your highest
mileage vehicle ever sold on cars on
this Ram kenon so here's the deal all
right we are we are very scrupulous
unlike some people I'm not going to name
names because I don't want bar hooie but
we are very scrupulous and um so what
happened was it hit a million miles the
odometer stopped correct tmu if the
odometer has stopped yes well it
actually goes to 99,9 that's even more
of and and it's funny cuz I took it to
CarMax for an appraisal and they're like
wow this truck has pretty low miles on
it and I was like I need to tell them so
I I did tell them that hey you know it
turned over a million and that's that's
where it resets to but then I I immed
when it happened I reset the trip
odometer to where it has 2,000 mil on it
since so we know it's at a million two 1
milliion 2,000 miles but I guess if the
battery ever goes dead like that's what
happened to Matt far's million mile
Lexus like the battery went dead and the
the trip odometer went away so we don't
know how much over a million it is it's
it with tvarish now that Lexus had a
digital gauge cluster except for the
odometer right the early ls's did but
not that one not that one okay got it
mhm um this truck has a million miles on
it yes I mean come on three or four
Transmissions original engine that's
never been aart though it has a tune on
it last year took it to the dyo 900
pound feet of torque on the dyo with
thaton on the Carfax let's see what's
going it's the it's the what's the most
Pages you've seen on a Carfax cuz this
one I think is 27 W look how tiny the
cursor is in the corner I think it's 27
28 pages of Carfax because they took it
for maintenance a dealer like because
there was some point where they were
doing a th000 miles a day so so it's
starts life in October of of 03 it's
purchased it's purchased October 13
within a month that already has 7,000
miles right so they just were like we're
just going to do it by the end of that
year it had 23,000 miles correct oil
field Hot Shot truck so you need parts
really fast to get this oil pumping out
of the ground they're
paying dollars a mile to get it
immediately put it in the truck and go
and that's what this thing did isn't
fast enough and I've done like both of
us have done 1,000 miles in a day
driving but imagine you're doing it
every day this is your life me almost
here's a 90day jump 30,000 yeah yeah
exactly almost 10,000 miles a month wow
holy crap here's here's a 19-day jump
from 86,000 Mil to 101 15,000 m in 19
days and the that's 1,000 miles a day
the crazy thing about it it's perfectly
fine perfectly usable I bought it
there's barely $1,000 worth of stuff to
fix it to make it perfect mechanically
but they quit driving it 94,000
MI so I this for sale like how could you
not like one more month and you would
have been the guy to drive it over a
million like how do you stop doing and
so I bought it it's like it's the
easiest you know pick up the car the
ball L one y I'm not sports car one yard
line basically picking up doing the
touchdown it was it was so easy have you
reached out to this craus Motors in Utah
in Lon Utah well I picked the car up in
person because I just had know uh no no
it was a dealership that knew the guy
and I just like I had to like figure
like what's the story on this and it it
it's a shame you never you never called
these guys I mean they knew this dude
came in every 3 weeks for noral change
he was L way that I mean transmission
fluids like he was doing he was doing
everything yeah but he wanted it to run
forever the transmission Replacements
they told me it been done several times
but that's not someone that would
reported the Carfax I don't know how
many miles it is on the current
transmission but that was a thing that
would go um you know every not qu
million miles or so there are periods
where this truck is doing a th a th000
miles a day regularly in a month we're
only a quarter of the way through this
Carfax by the way like well the crazy
thing is every single service was done
at this Kraus Motors in Leighton Utah
there's a few exceptions they sometimes
would get uh yeah so men love Toyota
there at 339 but wherever they were um
oh yeah yeah they there were some some
modball ones in there they were in Woods
Cross they couldn't make it back Toyota
Toyota cion Bountiful where is this so
this is just in in the in the north of
Salt Lake City saltan City Y wow 350 350
no then then they left craus Motors they
were like you know what
right so I bought they're back I bought
this for
$11,000 and I thought I was being crazy
um and I thought they were crazy for
asking it but just for the story and the
videos I had to buy it you paid 11 I
paid 11 what did you do to it um so
leaks was just thing it was like about
,000 to get it perfect and then at 99 or
99,8 miles I'm in Oklahoma going this is
filming for my motor Tren show car
issues we're going to the track to howad
I'm towing a car dies won't restart the
entire fuel system has let go where it
overpressurized everything like blew out
the injectors the injection pump is
ruined and they're like if you want this
thing to see a million miles it's going
to cost you
$4,000 200 miles short I was like okay
maybe the people who abandoned it 994
weren't so stupid after well there was
it was just some catastrophic failure
that was just random and it and it
happened so it didn't hurt the the motor
at all and I did it so it has a whole
new injection pump injectors everything
which is sort of a wear item on these
I'm not sure if it was original or not
but that was that was tough just short
of the finish line so that means 11 I
drove it back th in repairs another four
so you drove back from Utah from Utah so
you're like 16 but you never thought
you'd get 16 out of it no this I mean
the story of it and the enjoyment like
it it was you did the thing you hit the
million that's already gone not only did
you do it and and and that probably
eliminates some of the value in good to
but you also the odometer is now broken
and so right but it's still the one of
the last pre-emissions diesels without
all the engineered crap like nowadays I
don't feel like a diesel is worth owning
in comparison for if you're doing this
oil fit Hot Shot stuff because the
maintenance and all the the crappiness
where they don't last as long and the
maintenance is much higher you're better
off getting a gasing having the lower
mile per gon I think now than a diesel
because of all the restrictions with the
missions and just the engineering is not
the same they're not invincible so
that's why
taken a uh political and environmental
stance it's not political it's just it's
just a fact that hovie hates diesels
well it happened before with like the 73
versus the 60 Power Stroke where they be
fair auto makers there was an incident
with the Diesels right and so that kind
of put a stop to all that you may recall
yes well even even the aftermarket with
the guys who were deleting all this
stuff off of it got in big trouble um so
so it's it's tough like even deleting it
is a risk now an existing truck and it's
very hard it's very backdoor thing to do
now so this is the last of an era and
people are buying these they're buying
73 Fords um they're buying the Duramax
the gmt800 Duramax Chevys and they're
just keeping them forever if they're not
Rusty find ones with Miles that are okay
is tough yeah what's going on here you
that's just a little bit of bubbling
there the undercarriage is actually
pretty good otherwise it's a very usable
reasonably clean truck which for Utah I
it's astounding it's very considering
like they couldn't have been washing it
every day and they're putting a thousand
miles on it a day but look at that your
Land Cruiser spent two years in net and
looks like it was with the Titanic at
the bottom of the ocean the land CR a
couple things first off the Land Cruiser
didn't look as bad as you think it
looked okay you didn't see those
pictures you
wrong secondly uh Utah is not a state
where they like go crazy with salt and
brine like in the Northeast it's not
cold every day proper Winters though and
it's just yeah but it's not cold every
day Here's the the the trick to
determining whether a car is from Rusty
place is you look at the average January
high temperature in the place if the
average January high is over freezing by
a few degrees you're probably not going
to have a rusty car if it's freezing or
less it's going to be rusty that's the
trait if it's if it's 40 or so you're
all set They Don't Really salt all that
much then because the it stays warm
enough that they don't really have to do
it that's why Denver is an okay place on
cars it's not perfect and salt lak's the
same well they yeah and they don't
really use salt Northeast Ohio on the
other one yeah although things are
changing you know in terms of climate
there it certainly gotten working a
political stance here on the podcast
it's got War out car spotting in Chicago
is just fun because of the rust I've
been going to Chicago a lot lately it's
like oh my God that car's still driving
with that hole in it you know I had an
E46 330xi where the rear quarter panel
started with a little bit of rust the
next year it fell off like it just like
just like completely I got to work and
it was gone rust be quick it does
surprise me when I am in Chicago or
Detroit um
the modern cars have rusts you'll see
like a three-year-old car that's like
already Rusty and it's like oh my God I
can't believe how fast this happens I
don't spend any time up there you know
except when I come and get hit with that
like holy crap this is amazing why have
you been spending a lot of time in
Chicago lately did you like that segment
that was nice transition so uh my new
co-host since you have taken up with
Kennan here I have April Rose and we do
a show called Good Morning YouTube she's
moved to Kansas to do that she's moved
to Kansas you've replaced me and I've
replaced you why Tyler did she move to
Kansas um to be with me and to make this
YouTube show yes and do you have
anything else you'd like to announce
here for the first time on our live show
well no we've said that we're engaged I
think on the on the thing or whatever
yeah she's a she's a I'm worked with her
for years uh doing the Barrett Jackson
live TV coverage and uh you know just
just recently we started uh yeah going
out or whatever I've spent about a year
I guess getting close or so and uh yes
recent engagement I had dinner with you
in April maybe a year ago we all did it
was the social event of the year we were
very excited social event of the Year
Kenan was there um she's lovely thank
you you do want to Kenan is lovely too
congratulations congratulations you
congratul well it's been months he
didn't tell me you know I expect that
you tell me things you know when when
something major happens can can I thank
you when something major happens in
Freddy's life to varish he tells me
about it I found out through Instagram
that you had a second shot I didn't know
you were pregnant didn't know we were
surprised okay we went to the we went to
the hospital I Didn't Know I Was
Pregnant it was you okay that's true all
right you know what I I'm going to move
on from this other than to say I'm happy
for you congratulations I am surprised
that you've decided to again pursue
marriage we'll move on unless you don't
want to move on let's move on thank you
very much
okay all right uh we're two minutes left
on the truck here did that Audi rsq8 do
anything no it's still going 21 seconds
in the other screen 86 Grand 86 mhm so
they're still fighting you ever get into
any of these modern Audi RS cars not in
the slightest no really no I just like
oh that's expensive you like Audi's I do
like Audi's yes that's expensive they're
going to get cheap I know that's when
I'll probably be interested right wait
would you do so when what's going to be
the first one to get under 50 is is it
going to be an E I think this one's
let's see what happens is it going to be
the the e63s wagon or is it going to be
this that gets under 50 Grand uh under
50 mhm when it gets into used car you're
talking about the RS6 wagon yeah do you
think that was an RS6 what I say idea
that was oh sorry I'm sorry but you know
what I mean I just don't follow any of
that but yeah you but you do eventually
what is the price cap you know you say
that by the way you have like5 $300,000
cars what is the price cap but I don't
buy I don't buy the new ones and ride
the depreciation like that I I don't the
expensive cars are not something that
are depreciating right I try to tell
that to everybody I got a neighbor who's
got I'm not going to say what a car it
is because it's a they'll you know but
people are like oh he got this whatever
like now he's and I and I'm like that's
a crazy thing to buy a car an $130,000
brand new SUV and people are like well
you have your cars right and I'm like
you don't understand I can afford that
more than I can afford a new G L S63
right whenever the game show that we did
comes out cuz you've been filming a lot
of them it'll be weeks or a month or so
but uh yeah we were talking about the
456 and people were paying 264 new for
an automatic 456 inflation adjus you got
to figure like that's probably a 400
number today and it's now worth 40 how
do people crazy I can't that's that's
real wealth you can just write off be
like eh see the B who are the bids on
the ram right now because they're kind
of going back and forth it's at 11 so
it's that what I initially paid for it
um are they new here we go see who looks
like they're new new biders am I
bringing some new people to side no
there's some other people there's some
repeats this West Power 13 West power
was uh has been in it for days but I
don't know if he's out so are you got
100% Jake watching this one he is he is
paying attention and watching the uh
comments just in case I miss anything so
Jake I brought on to edit the good
morning YouTube but he's also another
YouTuber in town yeah do I know 100%
Jake I don't think you've met him no no
why not um well his he's personal life
probably is normal enough to where it
doesn't interest you to ask all these
questions right checking for 11 very
nice okay that's reasonable that is
about what I expected I was like the
bottom on those is 10 grand if they're
not Rusty and that's yeah and that's
going to be the bottom car yeah a
million miles exactly miles right this
person asked a question earlier in the
auction you know everybody gets annoyed
because there's a lot of questions
throughout the auction people like this
guy's not a bitter he's just asking
questions yeah um but this dude actually
asked a question he is this truck
running the factory lift pump mhm I
don't know if you answer it or not I did
I believe it is he actually bought the
truck so okay well fantastic it's always
nice when that happens my 355 guy was
asking questions I answered him he
bought car yeah I didn't really know
because I sort of looked up what an
aftermarket lift pump would look like
and I was like oh that's definitely not
in there so yeah because it's it's all
it's all Factory so you lied to the man
no I I think I said I don't believe I
believe it is on the factory I don't
know if it's original uh you have a lot
of cars it is interesting people ask
detailed questions about is if you're
going to be able to specifically know
the anwers I mean that's the kind of
question that you ask if you're into
these trucks and you really know them
and that kind of thing wonder what he's
going to do with it one use it right
next million miles maybe certainly
possible there's there's ones with two
three million miles on them so it's not
that unusual is that true two or three
million like semi- trucks yeah well not
semi- trucks no just no but like semi-
trucks do yeah you know semi- trucks
when you buy them come with a one year
100,000 mile warranty that's crazy M you
can up it to two 200 3
300 amazing so you got two cars sold
here today thank you nice work gentlemen
yeah no Reserve have you sold anything
today have I sold anything today no I've
not sold any of my one Cars yeah there's
one more the bell of the balls ending in
a bit you know the rarest of the rare
right there but uh yeah all right let's
do questions okay okay all right uh I'm
just going to go down the list here and
we'll see what
happens um what is the difference
between cars and bids live and this car
it looks like a puffy 911 I think it
looks like a a yeah a G Series 911 stung
by a puff marshmallow man at1
specifically this Fell's standing by
this thing like look at my marshmallow
car yeah if we just I've got a
marshmallow car right here in our friend
group we just call it puffy we call it
puffy the 911 I like it I mean do they
seem undervalued to you this here is no
cuz what do they sell for they million
for a 911 that's puffy
oh like this compared to getting a 993
Turbo S N puffy yeah that's like a 600
car or just get a regular 993 turbo or
regular 93 none of those cars are puffy
only this one is Puffy there're felt
this one
is I suppose you bought you bought the
right car obviously the 918 hyper car
Holy Trinity it's cool but there there's
it's it's technology that's going to be
topped over and over again forever with
the hypercars and crer GT is is not
something that could ever be topped D so
I feel it I feel okay next question from
Mark Johnson which sounds fake hovie I
love good morning YouTube where did the
idea originally come from well
um I think it was just what could we do
together um because she comes from a lot
of Television Broadcast movie background
and she never wants to admit that she's
a YouTuber April it's just I I'm not a
YouTuber I'm a broadcaster I'm an actor
I'm and so YouTuber is a dirty word to
her well so she doesn't respect our
she's from the I get hired to do this
job and I do it where we YouTubers we
were well we wrote for auto trader or so
we were making videos Can companion
pieces to our videos but we started
doing videos with no intention of really
making money it was just like it was
just a thing to do and it was it seemed
like a crazy thing to okay you're going
to have to work for years and make no
money right you know building this up
and um but I I the format idea I didn't
see someone doing sort of a YouTube
Morning Show where they're talking like
not really the view but sort of that
sort and the initial thought was to do a
longer form sort of like a podcast where
it's a general topic sort of like a a
news show but then we realized people
don't want to commit to a really long
one so we just would film five 15 20
minute episodes and uh just just put
topics out obviously it wasn't supposed
to be as car focused as it was but the
car videos tend to do better so usually
every other video is about cars and I
just wanted to broaden my palette as far
as other things to talk about on YouTube
CU which you don't you don't really do
much of when you do the one thing your
your y thing you get just absolutely
annihilated but yeah he did he did a
couple of those house reviews which were
awesome that's true that was great your
house you certainly can here's a
question from um Don DeMarco uh hovie
when are you guys getting
[Music]
married that's Don we haven't dat yet
you haven't set a date we haven't set a
date yet uh here's a followup from Don
dearco
um what uh what what day are you kind of
thinking uh will you be inviting
colleagues not this year but we are
going to do an engagement party when the
house is done and we're going to throw a
big party for everybody and I can set up
basically I have five acres to set up a
concore I even have a pond that people
can pull around and do all this stuff
here's a question from Dave Del Monaco
um are you going to host one of these
parties in San Diego no not likely
no so you would have to travel you would
not go because witch's a connection Doug
does not travel to somewhere if there's
a
connection unless it's International
he's mentioned this to all my friends he
said unless you get married in San Diego
I'm not coming oh so you don't even do
that anymore no if someone if if listen
or his house on or the place on N if
I am the officient I will go also if as
long as the wedding is LA area or South
so three-hour drive but maybe if to
someone really special if it's a direct
flight you might do it but otherwise no
I I get it m if I got married in San
Francisco to somebody there there's it's
a 5050 chance no I would go I'll tell
you this if Ed Bolan did a vow renewal
I'd go to that because I love Atlanta
you think they have snakes in it
incorporate that into the V does it ever
talk about snakes with you no I mean his
his snake died and I think they replaced
it with a lizard I thought he had a
collection like a number of no he just
had the big the big one yeah it was very
sad I got a couple I got a couple other
ones I got a couple other ones okay all
right um this question comes from
uh you're making up the names so it's
this be real this is going to be a real
question this is going to be a real
question all right um blank marry or
kill the McLaren F1 the Lexus LFA or the
F40 okay kill the LFA yeah that's an
easy yeah I would say so kill it dead
mhm that's all the rest I didn't want to
I didn't even want to do the rest of the
question I just wanted to do that yeah
I'd blank the F1 and marry the F40 right
wouldn't you no you marri the F1 well
just from the value standpoint or like
you're married you're stuck with it for
the rest of your life so you have to
maintain it the only person who's going
to benefit from the value at the end is
is the person who's dead um or you're
probably not you because you're dead the
Next Generation so John feny who wrote
that question in he didn't say I was
stuck with it for the rest of my life
using it as an opportunity to kill
you really hate that car you love the
way it sounds I liked it at 400 no you I
don't even think you a million is a lot
hard as well especially when you have to
go from neutral and then you pull the
little ear to go in reverse and back up
then you have to go back in the neutral
and then in the first M it's a have you
ever driv one no I it's so annoying
don't okay but man the sound is
exquisite and it does REV so fast and
there went all of your LFA cars and bids
listings till the end of time right
there well I'll do a video on it if you
guys want to okay um um Doug when are we
going to get a Cars & bids HQ video tour
very soon we filmed one and it's going
to come up here in a couple of week it
is lovely oh here's a great one oh thank
God I got this question from
Kyle dear hu and dog I've wanted to
start a car centered YouTube channel for
many years mhm and I'm not really sure
how to go about starting my channel do
you have any tips on what to do and what
not to do have you had any failures what
worked for you now be careful because Mr
Beast got in trouble remember did you
see this headline where got taken out of
context where he said people are
quitting their jobs to do YouTube and
they shouldn't like it was something
like that where he's like people don't
chase your dreams you can't be me was
taken out of context for that oh I'll
say that in context don't quit your shot
to YouTube but no the way that it was
taken out of context I did this like
this can't be replicated or something
can you provide us with
some information about he got mad at me
for banging on the table so I decided to
can you provide us with some information
about what would you say to this to Kyle
here does he have a unique angle and can
he do it
consistently yeah you have a unique
angle with the cirks and features I had
the unique angle with the cheapest in
the USA they've both been copied a lot
but we're The Originals with that what
is the next angle with someone else whin
diesel burst on the scene because he's
just completely destroying the things
like that that do you agree that
Whistlin is the greatest living person
oh he has the same thing of you where
the the I don't care kind of stuff I
mean it's it's amazing we actually we
have a his G wagon which was crushed we
have a box of it oh you did buy one of
his things my buddy Nick bought it for
me as a thank you because I took I had
him take his Mercy logo to the racetrack
and so as a gift he got me that which
honestly is the finest gift someone can
give me because I am obsessed with
whistle and Diesel MH but as you think
of someone else that has bursted on the
scene that's really eclip us so that was
the question I was going to ask do you
think it's even possible anymore we got
started about the same time I started 13
when did you start 16 yeah so but in
that era 13 14 before that that I didn't
I you had some guy an animator yeah mhm
yes 13 14 15 that era you could do this
is it even possible anymore it'd be
tough it would be really hard um it's
working with good morning YouTube Just
because I have the existing and she has
way more followers than me on other
things so it's that's a easy way to jump
started but if I I obviously I nowhere
near the level you guys are but I think
one thing I would consider is exploring
other platforms too uh like really
maximizing on Snapchat and uh CU they
seem to be paying the most right now and
then you know really playing a lot more
with short form that seems to be like
the the future I don't know if it'll
always be that way it's nice that Tik
Tok has like lengthened the like they
realize people are watching videos
longer so like you have to be over a
minute to be monetized you're exactly
right there's probably it's probably
there's all these opportunities you just
have to like figure out what it is and
then like you said also bring something
you need to yeah people are making you
know really engaging shorts on yeah on
Instagram on uh Snapchat there's all
these Tik Tok guys Tik Tok who I didn't
even know about M who aren't the usual
it's not like stradman just goes on Tik
Tok and is then the biggest right
there's there's separate Tik Tok people
and they kill it and then they have no
YouTube following but it's harder to
monetize I will say the thing that the
one of the big benefits of of Tik Tok in
particular is like especially if you're
newer and trying stuff out it won't
punish you the way that YouTube does if
you try something and it fails it won't
punish the algorithm doesn't punish you
every video is analyzed individually
when I did when I did the mamia um and
Mercedes me out to drive the go Wing in
in the race and all that stuff I was the
only YouTuber the other ones was
instagrammer and big Snapchat Tik tocker
and all so I was I was the grandpa of
the group oh that's the YouTuber but you
know what you know here's a funny here's
a funny anecdote for you that I have I
haven't shared with the audience and I'm
now going
to we we had a Tik tocker we called them
up we have we've talked to a bunch of
them for like tips and ideas on how to
launch a Tik talkk Channel or whatever
and uh we said we've said to a few of
these people what is your dream
what are you trying to do what are you
trying to go from this and you know what
they say they want to be a YouTuber
right and same with old school
broadcasting guys with that have been
done TV forever and like I I meet all
these people at barar Jackson because
there's a lot of celebrities there and
they're just like man we really I really
want to do a YouTube channel make a
YouTube video and there's plenty of
celebrities that have tried it and like
big big names and it will Smith YouTube
channel they right he like made a huge
thing out of it yeah it it just doesn't
take off realize that the YouTube has
has the most earning potential and has
the most sort of longevity tail it's
certainly I'm not saying it's dying I'm
not going to say that it's certainly
slowed compared to wear it it's
saturated I would say is is the there's
just so many compared to us where five
years ago where there was a much smaller
pool of right million plus subscriber
YouTubers right oh I used to get so many
more views simply because you wanted car
content it was either you or me and it
was
me well we didn't compete cuz you did
Tuesday Thursday and I did it Wednesday
Friday your videos were always better
this is the thing I don't know about
that when I was doing f40s that was
pretty cool okay but hooie you could see
him every day in Kansas like living like
living it your subject matter I felt
could change to be something much more
entertaining like once you figured out a
format you were married to the format
and particularly when it started to
reward you for new cars you were married
to that whereas you could buy anything
and be something stupid and like awful
like a horrible car yeah you say that
but then you know there's Scotty Kilmer
that post two videos a day just ranting
in his driveway andew and he gets views
I mean he dies every month and quits
YouTube every two weeks you know like
all this stuff and it's been the same
formula forever and he the who watches
him I get people come up to me the only
people I watch are you and Scotty and
I'm like are you mentally unwell like I
don't know I don't know how that could
be right how do you watch this new so
there yeah there's definitely the
formulaic and and the success with that
and then you can see like tvarish P
pivoting to when he posts it's an event
where he used to be more consistent and
then it works with cart Trek that's why
carart Trek's not on my channel it's not
Wiki and Wiki posts five days a week
small stories but and you know sometimes
they'll blow up a little bit more than
others but over time five days a week
it's consistence the views are higher um
so that's why it's on his channel
because it could it it could potentially
blow up on my channel it happens
sometimes it's an event on his his every
time he posts oh my God I got to drop
everything and watch a tar video and
when tar posts I know crap I shouldn't
post a video The Day toar post because
it really does take away from mine yeah
yeah um
nonetheless the thing I always tell all
of my YouTuber colleagues when I meet
them in person from the radies rides guy
to the throttle house guys to you to
everyone start a business that isn't
YouTube how you doing on that well I was
sort of doing it before with uh you know
Freddy's I was there oh no I mean I was
just saying like I no take your YouTube
audience to a business like cars and
bids that isn't YouTube right well I did
get an email from a guy who wants to
start something called uh uh gears and
gabbles gabbles and gears and they want
me to be the figure out and I'm not
joking it sounds like a joke but it's
real Tyler the number of people who have
who have seen us do this and be
successful at it cars and bids and
therefore think to themselves hey this
complete idiot with his stupid
t-shirt if he can do that I can do it
and so the number of
of competitor auction sites that have
launched has been absolutely insane over
the last we used to keep track we used
to have like do we still keep track are
you still paying attention fipo when
those come up yeah yeah our director of
operations is always keeps a tab on it
but yeah there there was like a list of
one point I don't remember it was like
85 like I think or something I want to
tell people don't do it start a podcast
instead mhm befriend
hoovie F find an inroad find something
that's it is hard this was a great pivot
for you although talk about idiots I
remember you wanted to code the you
wanted to learn to code to build the
website yourself originally you out your
mind I know complete idiot and thank God
you did I think I took one class in
middle school and C++ or I don't know
build the most basic website terrible
I'm learning c yeah I I still edit
iMovie which you did you kind of an
editor now I think but you you were
doing it forever so I have Nick over
there he edits the videos he's a king
and uh yeah I don't do thatmore despite
having a like a lifetime now like on
digital format and playing with
technology really to make your stuff
you're one of the most Technologic
internet people I've ever seen like when
our I'm not much better yeah are like
Google meets we used to have to do for a
company when he figured out he could
change the background to something he
picked a picture from my Facebook
profile and made that the background
giant you know what embarrassing is I
didn't know the difference and Doug had
to tell me what live images were when I
was was texting him photos I would send
him a picture of something and it was
alive and it would just jumble for a
second and he would like oh wow alive
and then then finally he had to like do
you know explain what you know what a
live is and you can turn it off and oh
to actually send a real photo and not
like a brief little video thing and I I
didn't know laughably Tech unsavvy this
is the realities of Kansas um okay
here's a couple of interesting other
questions from Jared this one's for you
I assume because the question is
Peterbilt or Kenworth and you would be
the only one who would know the answer
no idea really honestly you all your
time on Interstate 35 probably and you
don't know what the answer to this is no
idea Peter builts still look old school
they look cooler I think they're more
boxy still where the more aerodynamic
looking right yeah no I have absolutely
no idea but uh you know the Peter Built
to run a little longer cabin's a little
more comfortable they still have the
flat nose like a you know Big Mac kind
of we literally have no idea okay yeah
yeah um don't have a stance How come
every summer I drive across the country
how come you've never visited me on that
drive well do you do Interstate 40 70 or
80 which one you do where are you yeah
so I'm uh I know where you are why don't
you come down I'm 5 hours from
Interstate 40 and and an hour and a half
from 70 and 3 hours from 80 so no I know
all this why you come visit me well you
used to do the cross country meetups
with fans when you drive across country
why don't you do that anymore I'll tell
you why I did it I did five of them mhm
that's where I met kenon did you know
that no I did not yeah I met kenon
September we have probably a photo of
the first
of my dream car the 2006 Bugatti
Veyron this is the person asking the
questions dream car mhm I I don't know
how you could own one unless like with
strz man's documentation of it and like
chipping the ceramic Brak and the cost
of all that it just just seems crazy but
it is the coolest car of the mid 2000s
that everybody was talking about I mean
it is it is the car is it going to do
what a McLaren F1 did with15 million I
don't think it ever will but but we'll
see I mean yeah I I don't disagree
because they did they I agreed
wholeheartedly that it's a very
difficult card hence why the Chiron
exists they wanted to make it a a little
bit easier um but yeah I totally agree
it's a Concord moment that car for the
automobile historically speaking it's s
such a it just transforms things I think
that it may someday be worth 10 really I
would not be surprised I just if you
look back at like the cars that were the
most iconic icons of Iconia they all
became really valuable and that car for
all of its issues is you remember when
we were that age yeah oh yeah it was the
I me of its decade Captain slow going
230 miles hour whatever it was and that
burned into my brain forever right like
all of those things yes yep um and I
just I agree it would be hard to own it
would be tremendously expensive but none
of well none of the other icons are easy
to own either like they're all terrible
there are days I wonder if if it's a
better Financial play than K GT and if
it's just was like Bugatti Veyron like
that was the car yep I remember the last
time I saw one just driving around uh I
think it was for Monteray and it was
just like man especially if someone just
grows up it's just like you're kind of
Star Struck you never see them ever
especially on stock wheels I was at a
Bugatti dealer filming and one pulled
into the parking lot and I lost it and
I'm like there but it's just like wow
yeah I I don't know I have I have a
suspicion that that car becomes really
really really I think it's a great car
keep going after it it's it's quite a
machine I I'm not going to get one but
you should I'm not saying you I'm saying
Sebastian here should keep going for it
um maybe hoie uh stradman I want to talk
about stradman um you know him I like
when that Dodge I picked it up in Salt
Lake two years ago we hung out that day
oh yeah you went to like a little Frozen
y he filmed he went because I think they
just opened they had a Lamborghini
dealer just open a month prior and in
Salt Lake and so we went there we went
to lunch where' you go to lunch a burger
get I don't it's two years ago yeah um
what do you think of that stradman
fella um I I think to do what he does
and because he's still sort of vlogging
and day in the life and posting as much
as he does it's just exhausting like the
the the work ethic there um the house to
go a million over budget because
everything was at the top like the and
that that was the thing when I'm doing
my place you know I get the same size
garage cuz I can put up a steel building
for cheap because it's Farm country you
know where he had to do a really high
build code requirements out in sure do
you have to apply for permits yeah I did
get a permit but it's an it's an a
building there will be a tractor in
there my Lamborghini tractor that I have
um yes but like who you there's like a
town that you apply to permit I had to
drive to el doro Kansas yeah dides
someone come out or do you just kind of
what would stop anyone you from just
building this building well they
actually kind of screwed me up a little
little bit because I put one garage on
the far side and it was supposed to be
on the other side or stick out enough
far enough from the 1940s Barn in front
of it to where say I had like a big
trailer that I could back it straight in
and they said no because of the easement
with the property line you need to be 30
feet off or something like that of the
property line with a with an a building
so you but it's probably they said you
at least has to be even with your
existing Barn that was built in the 1940
so that's I had to do but you you live
out in the middle I mean they're not
driving past nobody's is going to affect
nobody forever but because that's my
property line that's what they said but
why didn't you just not tell them and
just build it in you build you can build
a metal Barn in like an afternoon me and
Ken could knock get out in an afternoon
with a couple of cold ones right but
then whenever the the urban sprawl grows
into my area and I piss off Karen over
the fence that building was there when I
bought it I don't even know about that
building do you have any idea how many
times I've said
that for stuff I built yesterday well so
you're fighting your own garage build
right now so for six cars and you'll
spend four four cars and you'll spend
quadruple probably what I spend or
whatever on a 6,000 foot building so
that's true
mhm
okay
um okay here's a question from Parker S
Parker s to you okay hoie I'm gonna go
back to that stradman question actually
but I want to ask this now Parker S as
some hovie as someone from Kansas do you
still enjoy living here even with no
crazy car scene there's a good car scene
in Kansas The Cars and Coffee will get
over they in Kansas City no not in the
slightest I bet all the Chiron are in
Kansas City I bet the McLaren f1s are in
are at Arrowhead Stadium every Sunday
none no not a one it's like can you
imagine
though the autocross after the football
game or maybe before I I don't know how
any of that works yeah you'd be
surprised I go in and it's just
surprising what's tucked away in there
and it's not just you know Boomer muscle
cars and things there's a lot of
interesting cars there it's it's very
easy place to drive around do ever
consider moving out of Kansas not the
slightest no now you have kids there
you're kind of R there if I would if I
didn't I mean maybe Arizona would be on
the list I think would be would be one
that I would I think I would do why
because I don't have to deal with
traffic and congestion here the traffic
I'm not I wouldn't expect you to move to
here but why Arizona over just because
of weather because the the weather's
warm and I don't mind super hot weather
um and I think the car scene there is
really good and it's just not congested
and you're not on top of of everybody
all the time and I being from Kansas all
my life I just can't I can't do this I
can't there are how many hundreds of
people are above us right now I can't do
it like no
no they're not going to hurt us it's
still
it's okay let's go back to the stradman
question okay who else do you know what
are these I don't know any you car
YouTubers I've never any them you know
them yeah right fine okay I mean I've
met I've met a lot of them yeah I mean
tell me what you think you got any juicy
stuff no
yeah let's start a feud right now
with hovie hates who's a big car
YouTuber that I can name um
DDE no no who you got who else you met I
went at one time I tried to get you to
take um Parker under your wing right no
Parker has mellowed out considerably
from when he was young but it's just
like normal guy progressing through his
20s and into his 30s it becomes a much
more mature person and and and Parker
definitely did that you know we all had
our phase where we went and that was
your influence because you took him
under your way I did not take he did
burn your car though it was an accident
and it was my fault for not doing the
recall before mon car week that is true
yeah I thought it's lasted for 25 years
it's going to last mine was done and
even I triple checked it to make sure so
the first thing I looked at when I
pulled it off the truck I put a iPhone
up there to look he's like I'm going to
Shi this thing to La drive it a thousand
miles it was fine catches fire it's fine
yep anytime yeah anytime someone
mentions 355 that's like the picture
that comes up is that
yes yes I have hurt 355 owners I have
hurt it hurt V Bri McLaren 12C owners I
hurt a lot the truth hurts you know
people get mad at me too the truth hurts
yeah hey what do you think of the Cyber
truck I want one really MH you yes you
know it's all electronic mhm I know the
steer by wire thing is scary and all
that stuff I just I just like we l it it
was great it made so much it makes so
much more sense just one turn and you
turned y that's it we did parallel
parking challenge with one and I'm not
going to give away who won but filipo
lost uh big it was great mhm you should
see when you drive that around how
people respond I can't imagine in
Witchita a guy came up to me I was in
the parking lot at the zoo because
that's where I shoot and the guy came to
me and was like I'm from Oklahoma and we
don't have these here and what is this
thing and how long have you had it I am
very annoyed right now because there are
people I was a day one reservation put
down the money I got the invite December
29th that to to configure to pay the
th000 deposit to get it it said
delivered January to March I still don't
have a VIN on the Tesla Facebook
cybertruck Facebook groups there's
people that have gotten the invitation
after me got their Vin got the car well
I've been waiting in Kansas did do but
that's not really I I was in New York
last week I saw several so and they
build them in Texas if anything it's
benefit you well and I that's the thing
I I don't know because and because I had
Rich rebuilds on we're talking about
other YouTubers and we did a talk about
how sometimes they can do little petty
things like he was supposed to get a
free or allocation or reservation of the
Roadster the new Roadster with all the
referrals that he sold because if you
did referral you could eventually get
things and he did enough with his
YouTube channel to get one and they took
it away and the reason they gave was
because his videos and the quote is
annoying I could see how Tesla would be
annoyed with his videos I love his
videos and I'm just wondering if they've
gotten annoyed with me because like I
had the one where I was making fun of
Tesla is where I'm hugging the tree and
kissing the tree and then the one where
the battery blew up on a car trek and
like it was not blew up but it just
failed and it so I've had good and bad
videos with Tesla and I wonder because
I've had any negativity that they just
have me in this Purgatory did you build
a did you order a beast or a reggy so I
did two day one reservations and so I
have one as a beast and one as a regular
whichever one comes first is the one
that I will take and if the Beast comes
away later then I can say hey Tesla you
can take it on trade or or you know I'll
give them the opportunity to take it on
trade to get that one but either way
you're not you don't have one they're
pretty around have you seen one since
you've been on first time I had never
seen one ever and then I've seen 10 here
they're around they're like not they're
not common yet but they're like around
but showing up to Cars and Coffee and
being cool is way over it's over yeah
it's happen now and wit top perhaps and
the downfall quickly of prices has been
I mean like everyone's too scared elon's
going to soo them so the first one ever
sells for it was wholesale dealer only
auction for 244 and then that sort of
opened the floodgates and like in two
weeks there's a correction of 100 Grand
or so which I don't think I've ever seen
before so um tell us
about other YouTubers oh man you just
keep going like rattle one off or what
you know people re suddenly you pull
them out of that out of a rich rebuilds
happen to be in Kansas because we have
this whole witcha YouTube Mafia now all
these like all these friends I said hey
I want to be a YouTuber or they were
doing it before and we've all just sort
of built each other up to where it's
there's there's about eight uh big
bigger car YouTube channels in wi talk I
can touch him some drama for him if you
want so uh you don't have to talk about
this so uh you had your 599 converted by
eag oh yes lot going on there down in
Texas tell us about hello tell us about
that hello so um Dan normal guy Supercar
bought some cars from me uh incl
including my orange Mercy logo which he
sold he bought that he bought that from
me and sold it on cars and bids and he
sold it for about what I paid for it so
he got to enjoy the car for a while so
um but um I sold it for what I paid for
the car or another little more whatever
it was but manual transmission he had a
a spot for a conversion for a 599 and I
discounted the car to get the conversion
and I got his early spot in line so I
fly down um they or drove down with the
car and they were going to do it on
video in a Day within 24 hours they were
going to convert the car and it was
successful the product was amazing I
left it down there just so they could
finish some things out and then came
back and drove it from Austin to Amelia
Island so Jacksonville area M Flawless
they did say because it's the early car
and we had to make cables by hand
they're going to stretch and it's get a
little weird so that's perfect when
you're done with the mil ship it back to
us because that'll be th miles we'll
adjust the cables and by the end they
were right like the reverse I had to
sometimes roll the car to get it in
reverse and like the the one two or the
2 three I don't remember exactly was a
little bit harder but still easier than
like a 348 or tester Roa you know it's
still very SM and shipped it back it was
great and um the I had to send it there
one more time and I had no idea all this
drama was going on because I got the car
back about a week
before all this went down my cluster was
going crazy and they had the oh so you
sent it to them recently I sent it to
them recently I got it back like a week
before all this went down oh so my my
cluster needed to be rebuilt and I
wanted them when they did the second fix
they did a tune one tune gave me a
little bit of a REV hang so I could
drive it normal cuz these cars are so
quick Revy that um like the factory
gated cars are not very good because
there are shift rods that Rattle and
it's so hard unless you're shifting
really quickly you know just getting the
Rev match and all that stuff is kind of
hard um but they changed it and they
gave it a bigger tune and they got rid
of the Rev hang and I kind of liked it
that way like can we do something in
between yeah and so they did that for me
they gave me the latest uh shift gate
that was a little bit better um just
because as they were doing they did 30
cars and they sort of refine the process
a little bit and then I so I get the car
back I'm like it's perfect this is
amazing this is the best thing ever for
like I'm into this car for well because
the mercy L CR but it's still way under
170 6050 something like into this car
that is perfection and then yeah all
this drama goes down which I'm sure you
guys have been following but so you
you're not you didn't participate in
this you don't know any more than what's
been said publicly no so everything was
noral when has always been okay and
everything is normal well so when I was
down there it was doing the conversion
it was very scary because they had 10 12
599s lined up with their torque tubes
and Transmissions out so these people
were stuck like they couldn't still I'm
waiting for 6 months a year for my car I
want it back now and they come back give
me my car well there it is is right
there there's the transmission it's
marked there there's the transaxle so
they're like oh crap so then these
people were stuck waiting they they did
the whole backlog of cars they got it
all caught up and from what I understand
and what I was being told by Art was
that they were going to shut down their
production their conversions and focus
on R&D with doing Mercy logo conversions
which would be a big deal because the
Delta between cors huge but I think that
they were telling him that so that they
could get through all the work get all
the customers satisfied and then they
realized that there was a bleed of money
somewhere whether it be fraudulent or
not where this they they were done it
wasn't working but I think they told
them that we're going to quit doing
customer CRS for this reason and then in
the middle of the night I guess they
hired a couple of the people who work at
eag you know behind just behind Art's
back to clean out the shop entirely
every piece of equipment they had a very
expensive CNC machine that you normally
would want to run 24 hours a day making
equipment for everybody but they weren't
and they kept breaking it was like 00
Grand to fix and so so all those that
expensive stuff maybe this is a million
dollar machine I'm not sure five access
Yeah clean out expensive gone and so he
comes in the morning and it's it's an
empty garage and this is according to
Art his no no this is this is the um and
there's business partners talking about
it too but it was it was basically like
a in there because he got partners and
there was somewhere where he can do they
can do an asset seizure when it's
something whatever and so that's what
they did and Dan's done a series of
videos kind of covering so Dan was a
part
with eag and um he you know propped up
did a lot of promotion with the business
but he sort of got himself out of it to
you know when they got he got other
partners he was able to get himself out
but he's supposed to get a commission on
every single sale of a m conversion
because he started the m conversion
company so he's out money but I don't
think he ever expected to get it
honestly yeah I think yeah I think he he
mentioned he so what's the latest you
have you heard anything L lately are you
worried to own this car now that it's
been no I'm so I I really think that
somebody so somebody has all the
existing versions uh somebody has all
all the IP someone will continue it and
and there's a what is it Dr s who's
doing 36 and 430s that are cheap V8 and
then there Min whatever the other one is
I can't remember there are a couple
there's got to be somebody that's going
to pick it up because it's it's already
there it's already existing there's
still a demand for it so well it's such
a shame they could have owned that space
if they had executed better but like
given time for people to catch up there
was real opportunity there yeah yeah MH
but at least there will still be manual
for
about but regardless you don't have any
specific Intel Beyond kind of what
what's no not not really I mean little
bit a little bit with art because art
was texting me about it but no not not
at all because he had you know he made
his videos that got taken down and
things so it was it was lot of drama
that I was not associated with but and I
actually you know paid for a spot I took
over somebody's spot so it wasn't like
oh let's give this influencer a free car
and everybody wondered about so you you
you you already had you took over his
existing spot in line and I paid that's
how you leap
FR yes um I think DDE didn't I think
they just got slotted in that got some
drama because they got two cars done I
think by eag so daily driven Exotics so
you throwing some throwing some shade
now no no I'm not at all I'm just i s
the pot enough here I think but put down
the ladle now um so two things what this
I can't believe this 996 turbo it's a
tip tip yeah 35 so I have one that that
I'm almost done making into a safari
that was a tip X Las Vegas ryal 146,000
Mi I bought it I bought it in the 20s
somewhere but the paint it had faded in
the Las Vegas Sun and then they
repainted it and they wanted to attract
customers to rent their Las Vegas
portion of1 turbo so they put glitter in
it like bass booat glitter or stripper
glitter in it to just attract people and
that's faded it's horrendous so it's
tough yeah do you have any explanation
for this car why it exists no I do not
uh-uh I saw it and I I saw it in an
inperson you know live auction and I was
like okay well I just have to own it and
see what this is all about even though I
had 190,000 mies this is a tip mhm they
did sticks though right they did sticks
yes they did stick panels I I think
there are some stick panels out there
how much time we got left on this
auction what do you four minutes or
whatever this is already a little more
than what I paid for it but I'm sure I
have more than this into it with repairs
and things so mhm see yep I did one I
reviewed one it was great the fact that
the panel door
a exist and B can be open from inside I
mean like this thing is an insane
automobile MH rear cup holders rear air
conditioning I think for no no
passengers yeah yeah it's very odd the
door poppers which is that what's what's
the is that is that the last car that
has poppers probably I forgot about that
on your key fob right on your key fob
for side doors probably cuz it doesn't
have exterior door handle cu the pan
makes no sense why they just put door
handles in it CU it looks cool so I did
the whole Top Gear trick with it as a
tribute to uh James May and there's a
friend of mine in Kansas his last name
ISM and so the door when you open the
door it was old Meers cocktails but then
when you open the door it said o
and so I I did a play on it with
the door I so decided to take it off for
the sale like I thought people could
Envision their own name or business on
the side or whatever but that was that
was the joke um 190,000 miles on it and
I know when I bought it I had I think I
had a receipt for the engine replacement
they announced it as having the replace
because they they love to pop the timing
chains on these two L eotechs but I
don't I can't find I can't find that
receipt anymore yeah they're not very
durable um when I was working at the
Chevy store Chevy Cadillac BMW Cobalt
SS's that year these which we we had
some panels but no SS's and Chevy
Cadillac BMW so the Cadillac store had
the Northstar problem the BMW store
had I mean the hottest car was the m6
and we had the C6 Z6 and those were the
two like
and the sales guy says hey man you want
to look at a Cobalt or a 760 LI right it
was a fun place to be a Salesman but the
ones we sold the most of obviously
because were in Kansas in trucks and 07
that body style the 800 had just gone
away and they moved on so the new 07
trucks the new 07 Escalade you were
there 07 07 was my first year so it was
a big year and GMAC was still V10 BMWs
yes you had uh yeah the new new Tahoe
had just come out right new Tahoe yeah
and the Z71 Taho over there too the
Escalade had just been redesigned it was
a big seller oh and it was a cataly
store too yeah mhm they were they were
this range was 60 to 70 grand on the
Escalades depending on options and then
you also had the STS you had the STS we
had the xrv how does a dealership like
that prevent those trash cars from just
piling up while you're just making money
Handover fist selling trucks it was you
know what I mean it was so I know that
um the owner of the dealership who had a
home in Arizona gave up on the xrv and
just shipped it to his
house um I remember that um I not that I
worked for the dealership but I remember
the witcha Lexus store had an LFA for
almost two years and couldn't sell it um
but speaking of sales oh is going $7500
I mean they jumped the bit of grand and
got it so all right that's dude that's
the move did that on my Land Cruiser and
he killed it I thought it was insane
like nobody else everybody big buck con
y uh what else that all um met or
exceeded my expectations so thank you
very much gentlemen for the sales yes
all right I got a couple other questions
before we go let's round this off with
some final hooie questions hovie next
thing to change at the farm this was
from Vlad your Russian fans are watching
all right next thing to change at the
farm after the house garage and pond
next thing to change out there um in
addition to yeah everything and what
else that's what they wants to know I
think yeah just liveing it and finishing
it out and I really and thinking about
lighting and and you know how like Jay
Leno has his drop light show light in
the middle and stuff like that I just I
really want to make that space seem
special and cool and just fig figuring
it out because it's I feel like it's my
forever place but you want to be like a
Kansas J Leno no I'm just talking about
the lighting like he pays attention to
the lighting and things and and it's so
nice as you have this now to not like
find a parking lot outside to film right
right now you've talked about that the
hell of the distractions and the noise
and things and starting over boy isn't
that the truth uh here's a question
here's a hoopy question for you from
John D do you have any view on the 1992
Lexus
SC300 no I mean not really everybody
talking about super tuxedo 2JZ one with
the manual they're very rare but I I had
one on my dealership uh 29,000 miles
that had BBS basket weaves and for OE
yeah and it uh I sold it for next I it
was it was still under 15 I remember
this is over 10 years ago and you know
what they never really went anywhere
after that despite despite the fact that
people talk about them like they're mhm
oh here's a question from Mark what do
you guys think of regular car reviews oh
I love RCR yes
and well I've texted him a few times
I've never met him in person Nick the
Roman uh is actually one of our he
writes for us on cars and bids he's an
auction writer for us a really wonderful
person they're both I think just
brilliant writ he writes the jingles he
writes writes and does the jingles but
they're both brilliant Brian is is great
too yes he was wanting to come to Kansas
and and do videos he's he's looking for
collab and that so he's been reaching
out to people um for that and I really
hope he comes to Kansas we've talked
about it brilliant writer brilliant
writer Chase writes where does your
obsession with gmt800 Escalades come
from that was Prime season for me I mean
of course the Escalade or the H2 wasn't
in every episode of MTV Cribs my dad got
an H2 brand new thought it was stupid it
wouldn't fit in the garage the the third
row seat was only one seat they didn't
tell him that when it showed like what
am I going to do with this did you know
that so the H2 row because the spare
tire took up so much of the cargo area
the H2S third row was only half the
cargo area the other half was the spare
tire we've sold I this is I'm dead
serious I was nearly in tears no that he
was getting rid of that cuz I thought it
was so how long did he have it less than
a month because it it wouldn't fit in
the garage and then the Third Road thing
because we had you know by the time
grandma and the kids and the dogs on the
road trip like it it didn't work yeah
and so he switched that forg picture a
2003 Escalade I'm getting there and then
he got an Escalade Platinum this doesn't
have it but you can see the track for it
I see it I see exactly so you had all
these cards so the Escalade Platinum was
the one that that he thought okay this
is the coolest thing ever was it like to
grow up around such fine automobiles
well he didn't realize that the they did
the Platinum because the uh 07 was
coming out so he bought that one uh the'
06 and paid 70 grand for it and then
less than two years later they offered
less it was under 30 he was like this is
the most he didn't realize there was
going to be a new Escalade
when I didn't think that the
appreciation would be that bad he said
it was the most money ever lost on a car
was was that one you had an SV Platinum
ESV Platinum which I had eventually a
rip tide blue ESV Platinum he had cool
cup hold those wheels that almost looked
aftermarket cuz they were so big back
then of course they probably 20s my
current is the factory accessory 20s
that are on it that are on mine a 2005
but I like the short wheelbase better
just because it's so much easier to park
and just get around I'm going to ask one
final question okay one final question
oh boy
uh this is a tough one one final
question are we still
live
okay
dear
hooie uh what car do you miss the
most H that you've sold
the SLS was a tough
sale it was it was a tough sale happed
why did you sell that car did you get
yourself into another another Financial
dog it's it's a it's a lot to redo a
house and had a barn and all that stuff
and uh April 15th is coming up which I
do have to write a check that's H's
nightmare every year so I have to write
a check to the government he's making
some cash doing this and it was just
like oh but here's here's the thing I
got I got the SLR or SLS in 2020 I got
the SLR in 2022 I spent so almost two
years with the SLR now I'd go into the
garage the two are right next to each
other I'd go in the SLR nine times out
of 10 and that's what I'd realized even
though they're very different and you
know one's a lot more cross country
usable the other one's like a it just
felt so much more special to get in the
SLR why did you not I made you a very
reasonable offer to buy your SLR
there's a here's an interesting uh a
half price yeah yeah half price for a
for a 5,000 mile SLR yeah didn't it have
an electrical fire it has a car it's not
an accident on the Carfax but it says
like damage reported because they turned
it in on insurance when the battery
shorted out in the trunk so that does
not make it
$150,000 that that's like a salvage
title price this is like every one of
our sellers who submits a car to us and
it's like hey man there's four accidents
on the Carfax and it's got a it's got a
salvage title dude no it was just a Hal
storm and we got them all they got all
the dents pulled out it was really no
big deal everything's good there was a
fire admit there was a fire it the the
the fire department was
called and the fire was out before they
showed up there was some damage to only
the wiring harness and that was a big
deal because they had to replace the
wiring harness in the car so it was it
was a take the car you got a you got a
bad you got a bad Carfax fire damaged
SLR with a wiring harness replacement
after the fact yeah but what did I offer
you 150 maybe 127 you should have taken
the 150 wonderful but salvage title high
mileage coups bring 150 so like you're
on the same Planet so is that true yeah
I can get a bad title one for 150 there
was one that I could have B and I was
kind of frustrated because I got this
Roadster and then oh you're months three
months later I I got that was offered to
me like oh that would have been perfect
but it's okay yeah you why didn't you
offer it to me I didn't think you'd want
it you never you don't buy bad history
cars as far as I know I want an SLR but
I don't want to spend what they cost cuz
I don't think they're worth what they
cost really you still think that cuz
it's a tip it's a tip SL with some
Wheels torque conver like my Roadster
was a almost $500,000 uh sticker on dude
your Bentley aour was a 400 sticker and
and it's worth get but the Bentley aour
wasn't um you know in every magazine
cover with a next to an F50 or you know
like they were talking about all covers
there's the SLR the Bugatti vron the
crer GT this is the only one of those
like oh my God this is the most amazing
halo car ever of the mid 2000s that's
not a million plus well all the other
ones were better but that fairness right
but but but the market reflects that
it's his point and to your point if I
saw one driving down the road like you
made I would lose it just never ever see
yeah see those I used at Aon had a white
one he used drive around all the time
see all the time was so cool okay there
we go that's our show do you have
anything else for us oh wait one last
question from Fabrizio uh huie what's
your experience with the Mitsubishi
damante zero okay they did the AMG tuned
ones yes but no I have no idea those are
the gants oh Gant see I have no idea uh
hooie anything else to share with us
nothing no I think you dug anything you
want to plug I want you plug something
okay uh hooie garage um auto.com wait no
no no no that's a long time ago um um
good morning YouTube that's the one the
YouTube channel please yeah subscribe to
that one um yes thank you we're done we
did it your last one ever and now it's a
podcast I don't
know
