[0:00] as if I needed more reasons to avoid [0:02] eating at Arby's. I just learned about [0:05] an ongoing case where a former Arby's [0:08] manager spit in a customer's food, which [0:11] they have video evidence to confirm the [0:14] uh the spitting there and allegedly gave [0:19] that customer herpes. [0:22] That is unhinged. [0:25] And I'm going to tell you something, [0:26] sports fans. I'm not even that surprised [0:29] to learn that from Arby's because if [0:31] you've been around for a while, you [0:33] might recall fourish years ago, Arby's [0:37] waged viral warfare on me as well. When [0:41] doing the hottest sandwich in the world, [0:43] they served me a sandwich that was [0:46] questionably cooked, and I'm using the [0:48] word cooked very loosey goosey because [0:50] that chicken sandwich was [ __ ] pink. [0:53] And I had already eaten some of it when [0:55] I noticed they were doing this whole, [0:57] "We've got the hottest chicken sandwich [0:59] ever. Get ready to fill your diaper with [1:01] fear when you try this puppy." But it [1:04] was actually just a Trojan horse to [1:05] introduce Salmonella into my system. [1:08] Luckily, I didn't get devastatingly ill [1:10] or anything, but I definitely could [1:11] have. Improperly prepared poultry is not [1:14] something you [ __ ] around with. And [1:15] Arby's was back there like diabolically [1:19] concocting this, you know, weapon [1:22] against me. So, I don't love Arby's. I [1:26] feel like most people probably don't [1:28] either. You'd have to really be cruising [1:30] Arkham Asylum before you found a single [1:33] Arby's enthusiast. So, that being said, [1:36] I already didn't like Arby's and had no [1:38] plans of going there. But after seeing [1:40] this story, you can bet your sweet bippy [1:42] you won't be catching me ever getting [1:45] the rumbly tummy that only Arby's can [1:48] fix. [1:49] >> Now, to a story we all wish would be [1:51] just a gross urban legend. But in [1:54] McCerten County, a former Arby's manager [1:56] is charged with felony poisoning, [1:58] accused of spitting in a woman's food [2:01] and giving her herpes as a result. After [2:04] a long night bartending, Jennica Church [2:06] stopped at Arby's and Broken Bow. [2:08] >> It was taking a little bit of time. [2:10] Thought they were probably mad at me cuz [2:12] it was right about to close. Jennica [2:14] said she had some history with Amanda [2:16] Hendrickx, the manager, but nothing [2:18] major. She went home, ate, and shared [2:21] sandwiches with her father-in-law and [2:23] grandmother-in-law. Jennica, her [2:24] husband, the kids, and the grandparents [2:27] all live together. [2:28] >> It's just so evil to do some [ __ ] like [2:31] this. I'm already a hypochondric. So, [2:33] every time I order out, there is always [2:35] that like lingering anxiety about like, [2:39] well, what if they spit in my food? And [2:41] it has never even crossed my mind that [2:44] if that happened, they could give me [2:47] herpes. I've always just thought like, [2:48] oh, if that happens, it's going to be [2:50] yucky. Ew. It's going to be gross. But [2:52] at least it won't be Arby's. But now the [2:55] game has changed. You can't put the [2:57] toothpaste back in the tube. If this is [3:00] true that her spitting in the food, [3:02] which that part isn't really up for [3:04] debate, there's no big dispute there. [3:06] Apparently, they have video evidence [3:08] showing her spitting in it. But what is [3:10] still up in the air is whether or not [3:12] that spit led to her contracting herpes [3:14] from it. But if that is true, that sh [3:18] that sends shivers down my spine. That [3:20] is horrifying. So, I looked it up to see [3:23] if this is like a well-known [3:25] transmission here, like saliva on food [3:29] transmitting herpes to someone else. [3:31] Like, cuz I I had remembered hearing [3:33] like uh transmitting herpes through [3:35] sharing drinks is like not as high risk [3:38] as you would expect. Like, it's kind of [3:40] like low risk. So, I looked it up for [3:42] food cuz I thought it'd be even less [3:43] risk because especially on warm food or [3:45] something, you would think that it would [3:46] make it inactive pretty quickly. But it [3:49] is possible, but it is very rare. Which [3:52] would explain why out of all the food [3:54] that I guess she spit on that night, [3:56] only one of the people who consumed it [3:58] got it. The others must have been [4:01] luckier in that regard. So, from what I [4:04] can tell from like the bits and pieces I [4:06] was looking up about it, it can happen, [4:08] but it's so exceedingly rare that [4:10] there's just not even a whole lot of [4:11] like information on it cuz it's not a [4:14] common means of transmission, like [4:17] spitting on food. [4:18] >> After that night, Jennica's mouth began [4:20] to flare up like it never had before. [4:23] The doctor diagnosed her with herpes. [4:26] >> Several times a week, I get a flare up. [4:30] It goes all the way up to the top of my [4:32] eye. My eye twitches. I mean, it's very [4:35] painful. You're probably wondering, how [4:37] could she possibly connect herpes to [4:40] Arby's? [4:41] >> I'll be honest, not exactly the Charles [4:43] Xavier level mind reading there from the [4:45] host because I've always had a hunch [4:47] that if there ever was going to be some [4:49] kind of crazy outbreak, some kind of, [4:53] you know, new plague, it might just [4:56] happen at Arby's. Like the [ __ ] tea [4:58] virus gets unleashed through Arby's [5:00] diabolically trash garbage [ __ ] [5:03] sludge that they serve to human beings. [5:05] >> Broken Bow is a small town. Jennica says [5:09] Amanda Hendris was bragging about [5:11] spitting in her sandwiches that night [5:14] and Jennica's daughter heard the story. [5:16] >> According to the affidavit, Brokenbo [5:18] police say they pulled cameras and saw [5:21] Amanda spitting in the food. [5:23] >> What a vile person. A to even do this [5:27] act in the first place of spitting in [5:29] the food and B to then start bragging [5:32] about it. All right, everyone. All [5:33] right. Yeah. Yeah. Hold your applause. I [5:36] spit in their food. I did it. I know. [5:38] Look, I'm not a hero. No autographs [5:40] today. No. No. Okay. You can hoist me on [5:42] your shoulders and carry me out like I [5:43] just scored the gamewinning touchdown. [5:45] Like, what what is there to brag about? [5:47] That is disgusting. Now again, it's not [5:50] clear whether or not she actually [5:52] transmitted herpes through this because [5:55] that is not proven yet, but it's still a [5:58] gross, unacceptable thing to do. And it [6:00] is still a crime to spit in food like [6:02] that. That is a very serious crime, [6:05] actually. So regardless, what she's done [6:08] here is still incredibly [ __ ] up. Now, [6:12] what I will say is apparently she spit [6:15] in her order, and this was food that was [6:18] shared with multiple people, her and [6:20] family, and out of all of them, she's [6:23] the only one that got herpes from it, [6:25] allegedly. So that leads me to believe [6:29] that maybe the other family members got [6:30] extremely lucky. Or maybe she put a [6:32] little extra secret sauce here, the [6:34] Krabby Patty secret formula, hawkked an [6:36] extra lugie on her sandwich in [6:38] particular to really seal the deal. or, [6:42] and this is me just now spitballing, [6:45] there is a chance that since these two [6:48] apparently had a little bit of history, [6:50] it's not clear to what extent, but [6:52] according to this news report, these two [6:55] knew each other and did have, I guess, a [6:57] bit of friction history between them. [6:59] Maybe after her daughter heard the [7:02] Arby's manager bragging about spitting [7:04] in the food, she realized that this is a [7:06] very good opportunity to, you know, [7:09] capitalize off that cuz that is a crime [7:12] 1,000% and she should go after her for [7:15] that regardless. And I'm really [7:17] interested to see how this plays out if [7:19] they prove that the herpes is directly [7:23] from her spitting in that food. Cuz [7:25] again, from everything I've read, that [7:26] is a very very very very rare way of [7:30] transmitting herpes. And I imagine like [7:33] it would be tough to investigate, but [7:36] like if the Arby's manager doesn't have [7:38] herpes, that probably puts the kibos on [7:41] it right away. Or if they find evidence [7:43] that she had already had herpes before [7:45] this bit, then that too. But I'm willing [7:47] to believe her story because she has [7:50] been wronged and it feels like it'd be a [7:53] weird thing to include in there if it [7:56] was just untrue. So, I I'm just very [7:59] curious to see how this plays out as [8:00] they continue to investigate the case. [8:03] >> She's charged with felony poisoning with [8:05] intent to injure. A warrant has been [8:07] issued for her arrest. Jennica and her [8:09] family filed a lawsuit against Amanda, [8:12] Arby's, and affiliated restaurant [8:13] groups, claiming extreme anxiety, [8:16] emotional distress, and fear of [8:18] infection. Jennica fears it'll impact [8:21] her service industry work. [8:22] >> Yeah, that makes sense because her life [8:24] has now been directly impacted in a [8:27] wildly detrimental way as a result of [8:29] this behavior from the former Arby's [8:32] manager. So, that that checks out. I it [8:35] never even crossed my mind as a [8:37] possibility. And it's something they [8:38] mention in this interview here about [8:40] like, oh, you hear about, you know, [8:42] workers spitting in food if they're [8:44] upset or something, but I've never seen [8:45] it happen. I wouldn't have, you know, [8:46] thought something like this was possible [8:48] until it happened to her. It is just [8:51] terrible really. And she talks about how [8:54] it could like impact her work in the [8:55] service industry because she'd worry [8:57] about like having, you know, herpes [9:00] flare up, you know, no one wanting to [9:03] like hire her, have her work during that [9:04] flare up because they wouldn't want her [9:06] handling food. Customers would be [9:07] uncomfortable. So, it's pretty obvious [9:11] that her life is now something that has [9:14] changed as a result of allegedly being [9:18] poisoned by the [ __ ] Arby's manager [9:20] Here.
