[00:00] In this video, I’ll show you how to use Claude&nbsp; Projects step by step. Claude Projects lets you&nbsp;&nbsp; create a custom AI workspace where you can upload&nbsp; files, add instructions, and keep related chats&nbsp;&nbsp;
[00:13] together. If you use AI chat a lot, you probably&nbsp; end up with lots of different conversations,&nbsp;&nbsp; some related and some not. Projects helps you&nbsp; organize everything in one place. I'm Kevin&nbsp;&nbsp;
[00:25] and let's dive in. Here I am on the main chat&nbsp; screen of Claude. To create a new project, over&nbsp;&nbsp; on the left-hand side, let's click on the projects&nbsp; icon. This brings us to the projects home screen,&nbsp;&nbsp; and you'll see all of your recent projects. In the&nbsp; top right-hand corner, let's click on new project.&nbsp;&nbsp;
[00:41] Here we could type in a name for the project. In&nbsp; my case, I'll create a project for launching a new&nbsp;&nbsp; brown butter salted caramel cookie for my small&nbsp; business, the Kevin Cookie Company. Hopefully this&nbsp;&nbsp; one becomes a best seller. Now down below, you&nbsp; can also add a description to explain the purpose&nbsp;&nbsp;
[00:58] of the project. I'll leave that blank for now.&nbsp; Keep in mind, you can always change these later.&nbsp;&nbsp; In general, it's a good idea to create separate&nbsp; projects for different types of work so everything&nbsp;&nbsp; stays organized. For example, you might have&nbsp; one project for marketing, another for research,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[01:14] and another for coding or schoolwork. Once you're&nbsp; done, right down here, let's click on create&nbsp;&nbsp; project. This drops us into the new project, the&nbsp; beginning of something great, hopefully a very&nbsp;&nbsp; profitable cookie launch. I can keep everything&nbsp; related to this launch right here in one place,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[01:30] including all of my files, any instructions, and&nbsp; chats with Claude. If I ever want to go back and&nbsp;&nbsp; the option to edit all of these details.&nbsp; Now this project is a top priority for me,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[01:46] so I want to be able to get back to it quickly.&nbsp; Up here, I'll click on the star icon. Now over on&nbsp;&nbsp; the left-hand side, if I open up the sidebar, here&nbsp; you can see the project under starred. That way I&nbsp;&nbsp; could very quickly get back to it. Let's now close&nbsp; the sidebar. Next, let's add project instructions.&nbsp;
[02:02] Project instructions help Claude understand how&nbsp; you want it to respond across all chats within&nbsp;&nbsp; the project. Over on the right-hand side, let's&nbsp; click on the plus icon next to instructions. To&nbsp;&nbsp; make this really obvious, I'll start with a&nbsp; simple instruction. I'll tell Claude to start&nbsp;&nbsp;
[02:19] every response with a cookie emoji. Of course, in&nbsp; the real world, you'd probably use instructions&nbsp;&nbsp; for things like tone, formatting, branding,&nbsp; or workflow guidance, but this makes it really&nbsp;&nbsp; easy to see that instructions are working. Once&nbsp; you're all done, in the bottom right-hand corner,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[02:33] let's click on save. Let's try a quick chat.&nbsp; Right up here, I'll ask it to write a tagline&nbsp;&nbsp; for our new brown butter salted caramel cookie&nbsp; and then let's run that. There we go. Now that&nbsp;&nbsp; tagline looks great and you'll notice the cookie&nbsp; emoji appears at the beginning of the response,&nbsp;&nbsp;
[02:48] just like we specified in the instructions.&nbsp; That means you don't have to repeat yourself&nbsp;&nbsp; every time you start a new conversation. Claude&nbsp; already understands the context and instructions&nbsp;&nbsp; for this project. Up above, let's click back into&nbsp; the main project view. I’ll click here. One of the&nbsp;&nbsp;
[03:05] most powerful features in Claude projects is the&nbsp; ability to upload files. Claude can then reference&nbsp;&nbsp; those files across all chats within this project.&nbsp; Over on the right-hand side, you'll see the files&nbsp;&nbsp;
[03:17] category. Let's click on the plus icon. You can&nbsp; upload files from your device, you could also add&nbsp;&nbsp; text content, or you could even reference a GitHub&nbsp; repository, which is typically used for coding&nbsp;&nbsp; and programming projects. Now, alternatively,&nbsp; you can also drag and drop files directly into&nbsp;&nbsp;
[03:34] the project, and this is my preferred method.&nbsp; Now I have three files that I want to upload.&nbsp;&nbsp; One contains customer survey results. Another is a&nbsp; product pricing spreadsheet. And the last contains&nbsp;&nbsp; branding notes for the launch. Clearly, we're&nbsp; running a very sophisticated cookie operation&nbsp;&nbsp;
[03:50] over here. You can upload many different file&nbsp; types, including documents, spreadsheets, images,&nbsp;&nbsp; PDFs, and more. Now, if you ever want to remove a&nbsp; file, you could simply click on this X icon. Now&nbsp;&nbsp; that the files have finished uploading, Claude&nbsp; can use this information right here as context&nbsp;&nbsp;
[04:06] in future chats within this project. Now let's&nbsp; see it in action. So right up here, I'll ask it&nbsp;&nbsp; to summarize the customer feedback. If you recall,&nbsp; one of my files includes a customer survey which&nbsp;&nbsp;
[04:18] has feedback on these new cookies. Right up here,&nbsp; let's run that. Right up here, we start with that&nbsp;&nbsp; cookie emoji. We're off to a good start. Now here,&nbsp; Claude reviews all of the different uploaded files&nbsp;&nbsp; and pulls out the most common feedback themes&nbsp; from the survey data. Now, instead of repeatedly&nbsp;&nbsp;
[04:34] uploading these files every time that I start&nbsp; a new chat, Claude already has access to this&nbsp;&nbsp; information within the project. Now personally,&nbsp; I think that makes it a lot easier to keep all of&nbsp;&nbsp; your work organized in one place. Now you can also&nbsp; upload files directly within an individual chat.&nbsp;&nbsp;
[04:50] Just keep in mind, those files are only available&nbsp; within this conversation and won't automatically&nbsp;&nbsp; become part of the overall project knowledge. Let's now go back to the main project screen.&nbsp;&nbsp; Up here, I'll click on the project. You'll&nbsp; notice that all my chats now stay organized&nbsp;&nbsp;
[05:05] within this project. Now I can quickly jump&nbsp; back to any previous conversation related&nbsp;&nbsp; to this cookie launch. Let's go back. If I no&nbsp; longer want a chat to be part of this project,&nbsp;&nbsp; I could click on the three dots and here I can&nbsp; remove it from the project or I can even change&nbsp;&nbsp;
[05:20] it to a different project. And if you already have&nbsp; an existing chat elsewhere in Claude, over here,&nbsp;&nbsp; I’ll open the sidebar and here I see all my&nbsp; different conversations. On any one of these,&nbsp;&nbsp; I click on the three dots and here I can add it to&nbsp; a project and that way that conversation will now&nbsp;&nbsp;
[05:35] become part of this project. Now I recommend&nbsp; avoiding unrelated chats in the same project&nbsp;&nbsp; so that way Claude stays focused on the right&nbsp; context. Right over here, let's now click back&nbsp;&nbsp; into main projects view. I'll click over there&nbsp; and then let's close the sidebar. Once you finish&nbsp;&nbsp;
[05:49] working on a project, you can archive it to help&nbsp; keep things organized and reduce clutter. Now&nbsp;&nbsp; maybe our brown butter salted caramel cookie&nbsp; becomes so successful that we no longer need&nbsp;&nbsp; to actively manage the launch. Of course, that'd&nbsp; be a nice problem to have. Over here, I can click&nbsp;&nbsp;
[06:03] on the three dots and here I have the option to&nbsp; archive and let's click on archive. Now, if I ever&nbsp;&nbsp; want to get back to an archived project, I can&nbsp; simply click on archive right up here and there&nbsp;&nbsp; I see the project. Hopefully our brown butter&nbsp; salted caramel cookie becomes a huge success.&nbsp;
