We're back to your dismay with 10
amazing cars for under $30,000. And
although they may not be what you
expect, there's a good mix here, Jack.
Look, we live in a world where cars are
getting increasingly expensive and
people are finding it very difficult to
afford a $50,000 family SUV or $70,000
enthusiast car. Good news is there are
cars under $30,000 that you can buy and
be excited to own. And before we get
back to some of our more regular car
content later this spring/summer, we're
going to hit you with a list of five
enthusiast cars and five regular cars
that you can be excited to buy.
Look, before Mark tells you that the
Miata is always the answer, here are
five cars that I've personally driven
and in some cases lived with for a
variety of years that you can afford
under $30,000. And the first is a bit of
a surprise. The S550 Mustang, the 15
through 17 model year, specifically a GT
premium with performance package is
easily bought now for the mid to low
20s. They're very reliable. They are a
great daily driver. I own one for 5
years. that put almost 80,000 miles on
it. You can drive it through the winter
with snow tires. It can be your daily
driver. And the aftermarket is
absolutely enormous. You can turn it
into a 800 horsepower monster if you
choose. It could be a great longd
distanceance cruiser. And if you want to
make it an autocross or track day
champion, you can do that as well.
The next car is yet another V8. This may
or may not surprise you. I'm about to
recommend a Corvette. While most people
will tell you to buy a C5 Z06 for this
price point, the C6
post 2009 or LS3 powered cars, the
narrow body variants are surprisingly
affordable and you get a great reliable
engine that can be modified. It can be
used as a daily driver, a long-distance
cruiser. And because it does not have
the prestige of a Z06 or ZR1 or even a
Grand Sport, there are plenty of them at
affordable prices. And the aftermarket
and support network is absolutely
enormous.
For number three, I would recommend a
BMW. The M235i and M240i can be bought
sub $30,000 depending on mileage and
various other factors. The M235i
is sadly not a B-58, which caused me a
little bit of sickness there. It's an
N55 powered BMW. While there are
standard BMW related issues with those
engines, you can figure out how to deal
with them relatively easily and they are
a great driving do everything sports
car/aily driver like the rest of my
list. You can take them to an autocross.
They could be a daily driver and they
could even be a track day car.
The other one is a surprisingly new
offering. The first model year of the
Elantre N. This was a car that we heaped
praise on when it first came out as
being that affordable do everything
sports car, which is sort of the great
value variant of the Civic Type R,
offering you 95% of the driving
experience with less cost. And
unfortunately for those who bought it
new, but fortunately for those who are
buying it used, they don't have the best
residual values. So you can get a very
low mileage launcher end for about
$25,000 right at a dealer, which gives
you a tremendous value proposition in
the vehicle.
My last option for you, which is easily
going to be one of the most affordable
cars in this list, is the Veloster N.
While again, it is not quite as good to
drive as the Elantre N, they are even
more affordable. There are lots of them
out there, and they are a fun, quirky
little do everything sports car.
Now that Jack's done spouting his
enthusiast nonsense, it's clear that not
every single one of these cars are the
absolute best option. They're just
practical options that bring a lot to
the table for your money. So, let me get
started. The 2019 or 2020 Mazda MX5. I
didn't say Miata yet, but yes, when you
look at how many of these are available
on the market, it's very clear that
there are very few cars on the planet
that deliver this much fun. be it an
automatic or a manual, preferably
manual. You will smile every single time
you look at this car and you will smile
every single time you go out on just a
normal drive where you don't have to
pile a lot of things inside of it. It's
one of the rare cars on the market. The
only thing you have to be a little bit
creative with is making sure that the
manual transmission hasn't been beaten
to death because the earlier models are
a bit more fragile, but this is a car
you'll easily find in the low 20s.
The next car is if you're looking for a
family vehicle and you don't want to die
inside every time you drive it. The 2023
Mazda CX-5. It's a vehicle that has has
really been out forever and it hasn't
changed all that much, although they
have rolled many manufacturing
improvements into it. It's one if you
get on the lower trimable side around
20. And if you want to get a one that's
really, really specked out with a
warranty, you're looking at around
$25,000.
And it's something that when you get in
it, when you look at it, it's one of the
better driving vehicles on the road with
not a ton of drama.
The next car is something that delivers
something for almost everyone. It has
refinement, it has great fuel
efficiency, it looks good, and it's
super usable. the 2025
Honda Civic Hybrid. And depending on
which trim you get, it's going to be a
little bit more or less, but it's going
to be around $25,000
for essentially a brand new car with a
warranty. It's a great first car. It's a
car that you want to drive if you're
older and want no nonsense. You don't
want to have to do a ton of maintenance.
And again, it's just one of the best
cars on the planet.
The next one is in a very similar vein.
This is a car that you buy and like our
previous video, you take it to the
grave. And while you may not get the
fully loaded variant, if you look for a
2020 Lexus ES 350, you're going to find
these for under $30,000. That means
tried and trueue V6 that has been out
for about a thousand years. An automatic
transmission that is very smooth. The
ride quality is great in this generation
car. It has super ergonomics on the
inside with all physical controls. This
is a car that blends into the background
but still feels like you're getting your
money's worth. And whatever you're going
to pay, the car is going to be with you
forever. And this to me, depending on
your place in life, is one of the most
exciting things about a modern car.
Now, the last vehicle on my list is one
we've recommended more than any other
car we've driven to family members,
friends, and that says a lot. This one's
a used 2023 Toyota RAV 4. A middle trim
or upper trim level will set you back
about $25,000.
It will also come with a warranty and
the updated infotainment which gets you
wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The reason why why this is constantly
recommended is because the drivetrain is
essentially bulletproof. If you keep
tires inflated and you change oil, this
is another car that's going to be with
your family indefinitely. And this is
where people want to be in trying times.
This is a vehicle that people want to
depend on. And while it again, it may
not be the most fun, it makes up for a
lot of its kind of mundainess with the
fact that you can you can count on it.
And that's super super important for a
family vehicle.
Now, there you have it. And our goal for
this list was not only to give you 10
cars that were sub $30,000. We wanted to
hit you with cars that were not terribly
old, things that were relatively modern,
easy to buy, weren't in terrible shape,
and you could get them with fairly low
miles. Now, there are other cars out
there that are more affordable than
these or potentially more fun. And
again, yes, you can get a Miata still.
You can still get your 350, 370Z's, your
Accords, your Camry, your F FRS's, but
these are 10 options that we felt that
were at least interesting and cars that
you could genuinely be proud of.
>> Yeah. And if you're a normal middle-
class person that doesn't have a massive
amount of disposable income, there also
a list of cars that you could
potentially still buy newer and get a
warranty on, either extended warranty or
CPOed or we picked safer older cars that
you really don't have to worry about if
you if you do your shopping. And they're
widely available. That's the other
thing, too. We don't want you to have to
go, you know, searching 25 different
sites and get a broker to locate
something locally. So, this was a pretty
comprehensive list and I look forward to
doing another video where we get our
hands on the more difficult part is
finding things in the teens and like
under $10,000
>> and where we actually drive them
ourselves.
>> Yeah, exactly.
>> And yours
alone.
You'll be the lion.
You'll be the deer.
Be like a tree.
Let the dead leaves fall.
Let your life become
