[0:00] - [Narrator] If you're a small YouTuber [0:01] and your videos are getting zero views, [0:03] this two-minute hack will change everything. [0:06] I'm going to show you the hidden settings [0:08] that most creators don't even know exist. [0:10] Here's the brutal truth. [0:12] When you're a new channel, [0:13] YouTube has no idea what your content is about, [0:16] or who should see it, so your videos get buried. [0:19] But YouTube actually tells us how to fix this. [0:22] According to YouTube, new channels must rely on metadata. [0:26] Your titles, descriptions, and other signals [0:29] to help the algorithm understand your content. [0:32] But there are three secret settings [0:34] that most creators never touch, [0:36] that literally teach the algorithm who you are, [0:38] who should see your videos, [0:40] and get YouTube to start recommending your content [0:43] to the right people. [0:44] I'm about to walk you through each one. [0:46] So let's start with the first one. Channel keywords. [0:49] These are invisible keywords [0:50] that describe your entire channel, [0:53] not just individual videos. [0:55] Here's how. [0:56] Click your profile photo, go to YouTube Studio, [0:59] then click Settings, then Channel. [1:02] You'll see a keyword section [1:04] that 99% of creators leave empty. [1:07] Add broad keywords like fitness or finance [1:10] or whatever your channel is about, [1:12] but also add long tail phrases [1:15] your audience actually searches for. [1:17] Instead of just fitness, add, "how to lose weight fast," [1:21] or "home workout routines." [1:23] As a regular viewer browsing YouTube, [1:26] you can't actually see these keywords [1:28] that channels are using to help the algorithm [1:31] push your content to the right viewers. [1:33] But with a two buddy extension installed, [1:35] you can spy on a channel's keywords. [1:38] That means you can go look at the biggest channels [1:41] in your niche, see exactly what keywords they're using, [1:45] and model what's working for them. [1:47] The second hack is in the upload default settings. [1:51] In that same menu, click Upload Defaults. [1:53] This is gold because every video you upload [1:56] will automatically include these descriptions and tags. [2:00] What I want you to do here is write a description [2:02] about your channel, what it's about, who you help, [2:06] what topics you cover. [2:08] If you need help, just look at this video's description, [2:11] but think about this like your elevator pitch [2:13] for your channel. [2:14] Now, every time you upload a new video, [2:17] YouTube will automatically populate this entire description. [2:21] And above it, you can just add whatever custom description [2:24] you have for that specific video. [2:27] This saves a load of time, [2:29] and make sure that each video has detailed information [2:32] in the description that helps the algorithm [2:34] push your video to the right viewers. [2:37] Now, for the third and final setting, default tags. [2:41] This one is massive for new channels, [2:43] because tags are one of the main things [2:45] that YouTube relies on when your channel is brand new, [2:49] and the algorithm doesn't have enough data [2:51] about your content yet. [2:52] You'll find this in the same upload default section. [2:56] What you want to do is add about two to five tags [2:59] that describe your channel as a whole. [3:01] These tags will automatically be added [3:03] to every single video you upload. [3:06] No extra work, no remembering to add them manually. [3:09] Just like with keywords, [3:11] you want to make sure you use a mix of broad terms [3:13] with long tail phrases. [3:16] These three settings work together [3:18] like a GPS for the algorithm. [3:20] They tell YouTube exactly where to drive your content, [3:24] so your videos can get recommended to more people. [3:27] Now, getting recommended is just the first step. [3:30] If you're looking to get monetized, [3:32] watch time is going to be critical. [3:35] And if you want to hit that 4,000 hours [3:37] of watch time milestone faster, [3:40] I just made this video that I want you to watch next.
