## Summary

YouTube's latest algorithm update introduces key changes to boost views and subscribers. The video outlines six critical adjustments, including new thumbnail and title statistics, AI disclosure requirements, a multi-channel strategy, integrating YouTube with Claude AI via VidIQ, and optimizing content length and topic selection for maximum reach.

### Key Points

- **Thumbnail and Title Best Practices** [0:35] — Face presence in thumbnails doubles clicks; real photos outperform illustrations. First- and second-person titles (you/your, I/my/we) lift views by 100% and 106%. Yellow thumbnails reduce views by 5%, green increases by 10%. Ideal video length: 12-20 minutes; hook: 27-45 seconds. 96% of top videos have a CTA in first 10%; three CTAs on average. Strategic capitals in titles give 52% lift.
- **AI Content Disclosure Changes** [2:37] — YouTube simplifies AI disclosures with clearer labels on videos and automatic AI detection (starting May 2026). Creators must disclose AI-generated content (e.g., AI avatars, altered footage) or risk demonetization or channel ban. The system will automatically detect undisclosed AI.
- **Multi-Channel Strategy** [5:26] — Running 2-3 YouTube channels, each with a different content cadence (e.g., one channel for frequent shorts and weekly long-form, another for frequent long-form and few shorts), helps flood the niche, improve search ranking, and increase subscribers and business opportunities.
- **YouTube-Claude Integration via VidIQ** [7:47] — Connecting YouTube to Claude using VidIQ's MCP allows automated tasks like daily trending topic analysis, channel performance review, and script generation based on what's working. This saves time and provides data-driven content strategies.
- **Three Pillars for Viral Content** [11:10] — Perfect alignment of packaging (title/thumbnail), content length (based on competitor analysis), and topic (highest views per hour) is essential. Getting all three right increases chances of virality. Use YouTube Analytics and VidIQ to determine optimal length and trending topics.

### Conclusion

To succeed with YouTube's algorithm update, creators must adopt data-driven thumbnail and title strategies, properly disclose AI content, leverage multiple channels, integrate AI tools like Claude via VidIQ, and align packaging, length, and topic for maximum reach.

## Transcript

YouTube just released a brand new
algorithm update that makes it easier
than ever before to get views, get
subscribers, and ultimately get
monetized on YouTube so long as you make
the six changes I share with you in this
video because they've completely changed
what kind of content you should be
creating, how you should be using AI,
and they've released a bunch of new
settings that you need to make sure
you're disclosing the right things in
your content, otherwise, they could end
up banning your channel. So, let's dive
into all of it. Change number one is a
bunch of new statistics just came out
about what you should be including in
your thumbnails and you're going to find
this incredibly interesting. Okay, so
there are 10 different notes and changes
that you need to be aware of. The first
one is that face presence, aka having a
face in your thumbnails, is going to
drive twice as many clicks versus not
having a face in your thumbnails. This
applies both for long-form content and
for shorts content. The second thing
that you're going to notice is that real
thumbnail photos outperform
illustrations. So, if you use an
illustration like what's on the left
right here versus actually having a
person here, guess what? The actual
person on the right-hand side is going
to drive more clicks. Also, even if that
person is going to be AI-generated or an
AI version of you. The third thing that
we're going to find is actually coming
with the title. So, second and
first-person titles, for example,
you/your, that will actually give you a
100% lift in how many views you get and
first-person titles like I/my/we give
you a 106% lift. So, you want to make
sure that you have those inside of your
titles. In addition to that, putting the
year in your title is actually going to
deboost your video. It's going to get
40% less views unless you're posting it
November to February 4 that upcoming
year. So, in November, in December,
January, and February, you want to post
about the upcoming year. For example, if
it was November 2025, you'd want to post
about 2026. Otherwise, it's going to
decrease your reach. In addition to
that, yellow is the worst performing
thumbnail color, lowers your views by
5%. I'm talking about literally the
entire thumbnail being yellow. Green is
the best performing thumbnail color,
it's going to increase your views by
10%. The ideal video duration right now
if you're uploading long-form content is
going to be 12 to 20 minutes. Ideally,
your hook length should be 27 to 45
seconds. 96% of top-performing videos
put a call to action in the first 10% of
the video. In fact, the top-performing
videos on YouTube right now have three
calls to actions in them. And then
finally, strategic capitals in your
title is going to give you a 52% lift.
That looks like this where how this
title gets more clicks, this and more in
all caps. This is going to increase your
views by 50%. You want to make sure that
you're using these 10 principles right
now on YouTube to help increase your
reach. Change number two is that YouTube
is now completely changed how they're
actually handling AI content. You want
to make sure that you don't skip this
part because this literally could get
you banned or demonetized even if you're
not using AI. So, these changes right
here come actually directly from
YouTube. So, the first one is that they
are making new AI disclosures simpler
for creators and clearer for viewers.
So, right now, the way that this
essentially works is you have to
disclose whether or not your video's AI
generated. And like 99% of YouTubers
that I talk to don't even realize this
exists. For example, if we come over to
my AI channel, this most viewed video
has over 600,000 views. If we actually
come into the details of this video, I
did disclose that this was actually AI
generated cuz this video's about HeyGen
and how to create AI avatars. If we come
down here, we can see that under more
details right here, AI in use, I put yes
because this video does make a real
person appear to say or do something
they didn't do because I cloned myself.
It alters footage of a real event or
place or generates a realistic-looking
scene that didn't actually occur. But
like I said, YouTube is now making this
easier. So, labels for realistic
AI-generated content are now going to
appear on the actual video itself both
for long-form content and for videos.
This is basically just going to be
better disclosure to the viewer of,
"Hey, this is AI generated. In addition
to that, they're introducing automatic
AI detection to help creators label
their AI content more effectively.
Essentially, the way that this is going
to work is when you upload a video right
now on YouTube, it goes through a checks
process in order to see if it can be
monetized. It makes sure that you don't
have anything that is actually against
any monetization rules or things like
that on YouTube. Well, now they're also
going to be doing this for AI. In
addition to that, they're going to be
giving channels 18+ access to their
likeness detection technology to help
them spot AI deepfakes of themself.
Doesn't matter how many subscribers you
have, if you're monetizing or if you
posted a video yet, everybody's going to
actually get it. And then here's what
these things are actually going to look
like on YouTube's UI. So, this right
here is what the label is going to look
like on a short. You're going to see AI
in the bottom left-hand corner. In
addition to that, we are also going to
see the same exact thing with this
introducing automatic detection. So,
this will now in May 2026, which
obviously is this month, this is now
going to go through and automatically
detect whether or not you're actually
using AI and whether or not you should
be disclosing this. In addition to that,
we're going to see right here that you
can still go through and manually check
it no. But, one thing I would be hyper
aware of is if you lie to YouTube about
this, you're going to get demonetized,
you're going to get your channel banned.
If you don't believe me, look up on
Reddit people getting their channel
banned because of AI detection. People
are getting banned like crazy. That
could be an AI voice, that could be an
AI avatar, it could be creating
something with AI as part of the video.
If it's an image or video that's being
shown and it's AI generated, I would
make sure that you're definitely
disclosing this. Change number three is
I would strongly urge you right now if
you have a growing YouTube channel to
open up a second and a third YouTube
channel because this strategy is
crushing it right now for so many
people. Let me show you an example.
Okay, so a perfect example of this is
going to be what Alex Hormozi right here
is doing. So, we could see that he has
his main Hormozi channel. If we come
under videos right here, we could see
that he posts once a week on long-form
content on this channel. If we come over
to shorts, the last time I checked this,
he was posting about eight shorts a day.
Let's see if that is still true. So, we
could see right here, 2 days ago, we see
1 2. We come down here, we have three.
So, it looks like he's posting around
three a day right now. Actually, we have
3 days, 1 2 3 4 5 6. It looks like six.
So, he's posting anywhere from like
three to eight times a day on YouTube
shorts on this channel. With long-form
content, he's only posting once a week.
But, if we actually come over to his
home page, then we actually scroll down
here, we're going to see other channels
that he has. So, like this More Mosey
channel right here. If we come over here
and look at videos right here, what
we're going to find is that he's posting
a ton on here. If we just look at 14
hours ago, he posted four times. 20
hours ago, he posted three more times.
So, in the last 24 hours, he's posted
seven long-form videos on this channel.
But, what we'll also see is that he's
actually not posting any shorts over
here. So, essentially, what he's doing
is he's now using multiple channels. On
one of them, he posts low content in
terms of volume, long-form, and a ton of
shorts every day. On the other one, he's
posting a ton of long-form and barely
any shorts. And that's the strategy that
you should also be implementing if you
want to maximize the amount of content
that you are currently putting out. You
should have two to three channels. They
should each be focused on different
types of content, but they should all be
posting every type of content. You just
want to make sure that the cadence is
going to be broken up appropriately. And
essentially, what this allows you to do
is flood the zone with things in your
niche. You'll be able to rank for search
way much better. You'll be able to
actually put out trending videos way
better. And this also allows you to
actually take a step back and not have
to edit or produce your content as much
in order to get as much content out. And
this right here will increase the amount
of subscribers you get, the views you
get. And this right here significantly
increases the amount of business that
you can actually generate and strum up
on YouTube. Now that next thing you need
to make sure you're doing is you need to
make sure that you are hooking up
YouTube to Claude. If you aren't using
this AI workflow that I'm about to share
with you, you're at a serious
disadvantage. You're going to spend way
too much time creating content. You're
not going to be getting the results that
you want when literally AI could be
doing most of the work for you and I'm
going to share with you the exact
prompts that I use to automate my
channel. So when you actually have
YouTube hooked up to Claude, you're
going to be able to do some pretty crazy
things. For example, you'll be able to
come over here every morning and say
something like, "What topics are
trending in my niche? Please list them
out by VPH
and let me know what I should upload
about today." Now what this is going to
do is this is not just going to use
Claude or ChatGPT or Gemini. It is
actually going to scan YouTube and
access YouTube's data in order to
actually give us an answer right here.
We can see that this is actually loading
up tools in order to be able to do this
right here, which is pretty awesome.
This is now using VidIQ. It's going
through all the different trending
videos. It's thinking through all this
and this is actually going to give us a
really good strategy right here, which
is pretty cool. Now guess what? If we
actually had this set up in Claude
Co-work, we could schedule this out as a
task so that this happens every single
morning without us actually prompting
this. And this isn't the only thing that
you could do here. If we open up another
chat, we could say something like, "Go
through my last [snorts] seven uploads
on my YouTube channel.
Let me know what I can improve
in my content and in my packaging." Now
what this is going to do, and again, you
could set this up to happen every single
week, it's going to go through all of
your content and actually tell you,
"Hey, this is what you should have done
differently." And look at this. It's
literally pulling my channel's recent
uploads. It's analyzing them. It's going
to watch the videos. It's going to look
at the thumbnails. It's going to look at
the titles. It's going to look at the
script. It's going to look at the
analytics and it is going to give me
actionable advice. Now, if we come back
over into here, we can see right here
that this went through and actually
pulled all these different trending
topics right here in my niche, shows us
the actual views per hour, the video,
the channel subscribers, how much of a
breakout video it is, and these are a
bunch of different things that I
otherwise would not have found right
here. Gives us the best themes right
here. What they would upload today and
what we could actually do is we could
say, "Great, please script this
out in my format." Then guess what this
is going to do. This is now going to go
through and this is going to script this
out using the exact method that Claude
knows I like to script my videos out
with and it's going to do this
incredibly quickly. And what's even
cooler,
it's actually going to base this off of
what is actually working on YouTube
because if you're working with AI, be it
Claude, be it Gemini, be it ChatGPT, and
it is not hooked up to YouTube and
actually getting its advice or getting
what you should do from YouTube, well
then guess what? You're at a massive
disadvantage. Now, the best part about
this YouTube and Claude integration is
that you can get started with it today
using vidIQ's MCP. And if you go to the
pin comment below, you can get started
with it for only $1. This is an absolute
no-brainer. It's immediately going to
allow you to automate your YouTube
channel and automate a lot of the
tedious tasks that you are currently
doing. So, what are you waiting for? Go
to that pin comment below and get
started with this today. It's going to
help you get more views, get more
subscribers, while spending way less
time creating content. Now, change
number five is you need to make sure
that with your content, you have perfect
alignment on three things because these
three things are going to completely
determine whether or not YouTube pushes
out your content. It doesn't matter if
you're going live, if you're uploading
long-form content, or if you're posting
shorts on YouTube, you need to make sure
that one, your packaging is correct, aka
your title and thumbnail stand out and
somebody's going to want to click on it.
Two, that the length of your content is
correct, and yes, having just a few
minutes or a few seconds off could
actually destroy your reach, and then
that third thing is you need to make
sure that the topic that you were going
after is the highest view per hour
topic. If you get just one of these
things right, you won't go viral. If you
get two of them right, you won't go
viral. If you get three of them right,
then you have a chance of actually
getting the views and virality that you
deserve, but let me walk through exactly
how you could figure each of these out.
Okay, so when it comes to that first
thing, which is going to be figuring out
what length you should be creating your
content, whether you're uploading
long-form content or shorts, you want to
come into your analytics, you want to
click on trends, you want to type in
whatever you're going to be posting
about. For example, I'm posting a video
today about Claude Opus 4.8 on this
channel. So, I'm going to type in the
topic of the video right here, and then
this is going to allow us to search
through long-form content and shorts
content in order to figure out the best
length in seconds. Because what we're
going to be able to do is actually come
over here, come under show all, we could
see all videos, and we could see that
these videos are predominantly anywhere
from 12 minutes to 28 minutes right
here. So, if I wanted to upload a video
on this topic, ideally, I want it to be
at the longer end of that spectrum.
Because if not, what's going to end up
happening is you aren't going to keep
people on YouTube for a long enough
period of time. In addition to that,
this will actually show you what videos
your video is going to show up against.
So, we could see right here that my
videos are going to show up against all
these videos. So, when I craft my title
or when I craft my thumbnail, I want to
make sure that both my title and my
thumbnail are better than these videos
to make sure that I stand out amongst
them, and I'm actually going to get
clicks, and I'm actually going to get
views. And then that views per hour
metric is actually something you're
going to be able to find on VidIQ that I
was showing you earlier. So, again,
let's say that we come over here, we
type in Claude Opus 4.8, because that's
what I'm going to be posting about. This
will actually allow us to come over here
and look at the videos and see which
ones of them are getting the most views.
This one's getting 1,100 views every
single hour. This one's only getting 63.
This one's getting 115. This one's
getting 53. So, this will actually allow
us to be able to see what our outlier
videos, what our trending videos under
here. And this will actually tell us
that this is down this hour. This is up
this hour. And this allows us to
actually say, "Hey, this is what we
should be creating." In addition to
that, if we come under thumbnails right
here, you're going to see all the
different thumbnails that are performing
well for this topic so that you could
easily see what you need to stand out
against. You could see all the channels
that are posting about this. You could
see all the different shorts that are
posting about this. And if we come under
keywords right here, we can actually see
whether or not it's going up or down in
search volume. And this is going to help
you actually create a good video because
you want to be focused on these three
metrics to make sure that you're
actually uploading something that
YouTube's algorithm, one, wants to push
out, two, that your audience cares
about. And having these types of metrics
on YouTube is just going to help you
have a huge advantage over your other
competitors that don't use stuff like
this. Now, if you feel like you're
shadowbanned on YouTube and you want to
learn how you could fix it and what you
could do to prevent it, I would strongly
suggest you check out this video right
here that walks you through how to
identify whether or not you're
shadowbanned on YouTube and what you can
actually do in order to fix it. That
sounds interesting. I'll see you over
there.
