# Xaryu Reacts to Which Class Needs the Most Changes in Classic+?

> Source: [Xaryu Reacts to Which Class Needs the Most Changes in Classic+?](https://youtube.com/watch?v=T3AMqxKX2KI)

## Summary

The video features Xaryu and a guest discussing which World of Warcraft Classic classes need the most changes in a potential Classic+ expansion. They rank all nine classes from least to most in need of rework, highlighting core weaknesses and potential improvements.

### Key Points

- **Introduction to Class Changes** [00:04] — Discussion on which classes need the most changes in Classic+, with warrior and rogue noted as already fun, while moonkin, ret paladin, enhanced shaman, shadow priest, and arcane mage need more work.
- **Classic's Frozen Balance** [01:00] — Classic WoW has been in a weird place with class balance, as it shipped with one version and never changed. Blizzard has done custom balancing in later expansions and Season of Discovery.
- **Ranking the Classes** [02:29] — The video ranks the nine vanilla classes from best off to worst off, focusing on core weaknesses and room for improvement, not just copying abilities from future expansions.
- **Mage: Best All-Round but One-Button** [04:43] — Mage is considered the best all-round class, but its endgame rotation is one-button, and the arcane tree is more of a support tree than a real spec.
- **Warrior: Strong but Protection Needs Work** [08:45] — Warrior is excellent due to rage scaling, but protection spec is awkward, and weapon skill ratios limit weapon choices.
- **Rogue: Solid but Poisons Weak** [13:37] — Rogue is strong in PvE and PvP, but damage-dealing poisons are weak, and preparation resetting blind is oppressive in PvP.
- **Priest: Shadow Needs Love** [15:49] — Priest is a consistent healer, but shadow spec has terrible mana efficiency and weak DoTs, making it hard to balance for PvE without breaking PvP.
- **Hunter: Dead Zone and Pet Issues** [17:22] — Hunter has the dead zone mechanic, pets don't scale well at endgame, and magical abilities don't scale with spell power.
- **Warlock: One-Button and Demonology Issues** [24:00] — Warlock is strong in PvP but has a one-button raid rotation, and the demonology tree is counterintuitive with soul link being oppressive in 1v1.
- **Paladin: Needs Rework** [29:45] — Paladin has narrow strengths, protection is weak with no taunt, and retribution is bare bones with seal twisting being controversial.
- **Shaman: Mana Issues and Filler Talents** [34:05] — Shaman has terrible mana efficiency, useless spells like frostbrand weapon, and enhancement has filler talents with stormstrike being bad.
- **Druid: Most in Need of Help** [36:15] — Druid is ranked as most in need of changes, with feral requiring heavy minmaxing, balance being one-button with poor mana, and restoration being okay but not great.
- **Recurring Themes and Conclusion** [41:38] — Recurring issues include one-button rotations, mana problems, weak DoTs, non-scaling magical abilities, and pet scaling. The bottom three (druid, paladin, shaman) need the most love.

### Conclusion

The video concludes that while some classes like warrior, mage, and rogue are in good shape, the hybrid classes (druid, paladin, shaman) need the most changes in Classic+. Recurring issues like one-button rotations and mana problems should be addressed to improve class viability and fun.

## Transcript

Which class needs the most changes in classic plus? So, there's some classes that we've talked about that like honestly don't need much. Like warrior is one of them that like it's already so fun in classic WoW. It doesn't need a
complete rework. Rogue is another one that's like pretty close. Um, but there's some classes like a moonkin or a rep pali. Um, like that are like on the top of the list of like they kind of need some love, right? Maybe enhanced
shaman. Um, maybe shadow priest, right? I'm curious what he's going to say, but hierarchy here, right? There's some that are like pretty much there and there's a lot that needs to be kind of brought up. Arcane Mage is another obvious one.
Yeah, totally. When Classic Plus finally happens, it's clear to me that it's got of vanilla. And one of the most core parts of the game that must change will be the classes. Because classic World of Warcraft for an MMO has been in a really
weird place for a very, very long time. These types of games aren't supposed to ship with one version of class balance and then just leave it frozen forever. Whilst things started off very no changes back in 2019, things have
changed over time. further we run down modern classic expansions, the more custom balancing Blizzard have been willing to do with Mr. Pandaria seeing by far the most changes as the patches progress. And Blizzard have also had
plenty of experience trying their hand at balancing in Season of Discovery, single one of Vanilla's classes and specs into a framework where they are wanted and fun to play in all areas of content. So, what I wanted to do today
was run down every single vanilla class and their main weaknesses, going from me, what are some of the weakest in the game. The goal here isn't really just to say, "Let's put on this ability from a later expansion to fix the class."
Because it's kind of already been done. And whilst it may fit in certain circumstances, I don't think it's a one-sizefits-all kind of solution here. Because if we just add on purely things from future expansions, are we really
playing classic anymore? That will be a difficult thing to balance and not something I envy Blizzard having to work out, but they must do all the same. The main goal for me here is to highlight the core weaknesses that every single
class in the game has where I think there is a lot of room for improvement. So, with that said, these are the nine vanilla classes in my personal order from the best off to worst off with the weaknesses that I think
should be considering. Before we go on, I want to share something with you that with your connection at the worst possible moment. And that is gear up booster sponsor. Okay. >> In classic WoW, your ping absolutely
still matters. And when it's bad, you feel it straight away. In hardcore, one pull can end a character you've pulled weeks into permanently. In raids, like the inconvenience to the ones which can
wipe your group. And PvP is the same story. A split second of performance another loss where you can only come up with excuses. A lot of this comes down to distance and congested routting which is outside of your control where your
world latency can jump up suddenly into the hundreds. And that's the problem that Gear Up Booster is built to solve. It uses dedicated private lines and smart routing to shrink that distance and lock into the lowest ping for your
realm. So 100 plus ping. I've never tried Gear Up before, but I used another ping routing service back in college and basically like I was like addicted to WoW. I went to my I went to college. I was in the dorms in the dorm rooms and
like I was lagging. I couldn't play. Like every every spell had like a two second delay and I was like like devastated. I was like I'm gonna have to quit World of Warcraft. Like what the heck, man? This is all I do. What is
going on? So, I tried I think it was called ping zapper or lower ping or time. I can't remember which one I even used and it fixed it. Like it actually fixed it 100%. Like I had zero lag. I was like
great. So I used that all four years in college and it owned and then after I graduated I got like like actual internet and then uh didn't need it say that >> will become something much more
manageable and it will stay there instead of spiking back up again. Gear up booster also has anti-jitter routting bypasses. Your abilities will be firing off way more quickly and its multipath redundancy keeps you online when your
ISP would otherwise drop you. And the best part is that it is all super simple letting you down or you're playing across long distances, Gear Up Booster is absolutely worth a try. Head down to the link in the description or the
today and see how much of a difference it can make for you. So, mage for me has always been the best all round class in vanilla. And by some list. I as a mage player completely disagree.
I I I actually love mages, right? Mages are my one of my top three. I'd put it high, but I would not put it over warrior. Why? Well, mages are really awesome for leveling with Frost and for PvP, right? We can just be
great." Like Frost owns some PvP. It's owns for leveling. It's great. Fire owns for raiding. Cool. Got it. Great. But Arcane has just a complete like you basically just can't play the spec. It has no arcane blast.
It has no primary button. So, if you play Arcane, it's just a hybrid build. button. one button, can't really play arcane unless it's like a hybrid build. And
option. So, if we're looking at the entire class, there's no way I'm putting that over over, right? And we're not talking about better, just to be clear with my
language here. We're talking about which classes need the most changes based on like viability, play style, um how fun it is to play, like that kind of stuff,
here. >> Margin as well. I often call it the knight because it can just do everything, can't it? Best AOE damage, best caster damage in raids, best gold farmer, best world PVP class, free food
farmer, best world PVP class, free food and water, portals for the whole group. list just goes on and on. The mage is incredible in vanilla. Its main
fine. It does need some kind of notable weakness for all this power. Vanilla is a slow paced game after all. So, that's fine. I wouldn't touch necessarily the mana costs. But their first real flaw for me is during endgame, they are very
much just a onebutton rotation class. And this is going to be a repeating criticism of many casters as I'm sure you can imagine. I'm not looking for a half a dozen button rotation here from vanilla, but perhaps maybe just one or
interesting. And then there is the arcane tree which really is in a weird spot. Honestly, it's more like a support tree which props up the other two specs rather than a real third option. And it is funny to say that because at the
frost, they're actually not frost. They're all playing arcanes to get arcane power. People just call them frost because they spell frostbolt. And not have a good filler spell. Arcane
doesn't exist. I'm not sure I'd necessarily want them to just have arcane blast because it just feels like the TBC and beyond identity of arcane as a spec, but if Arcane missiles could be, you know, not so bad, maybe there's room
would affect PvP too with your ability to hit around line of sight. But as far as mage goes, it's really just the one button rotations at endgame and the thing. The second most well >> I actually Yeah, exactly what I said
before he said that is those are the two things like one button rotation in things like one button rotation in endgame, right? And uh arcane just isn't arcane bl like there's no actual button to press. It's just you just support
to press. It's just you just support arcane fire, arcane frost. Um mean I I really expected warrior first. The thing about warrior is like prot can
work. You can fury prot. You can fury in top DPS. You can arms for PvP. like kind of everything you would want. I don't know. There's no one button
problems where you can't do anything with it. I would definitely put warrior higher than mage after playing a lot of both for sure. like rounded class for me and the one in the second need of the fewest changes is the warrior because
they are also really good in vanilla as I'm sure you know best damage dealer best tank best scaling and it gets it all through rage and in vanilla rage generation isn't normalized so the more damage your auto attacks are dealing the
more rage you're getting warriors will always eventually be the best DPS in the game if they keep this formula by the way it is just kind of destined to happen no other class scales as well and they have some of the best critical
strike modifiers in the game. As much as I'm expecting changes to classes, warriors will eventually be the best every single time. This even happened in way. Apart from their PvE dominance, arms is also fantastic in PvP with some
support, and needing some support is fine. It's an MMO after all, right? But the awkward part of the warriors kit has always been protection, and it doesn't really get looked at that much because warriors are already the best tank in
about it. There are a handful of protection talents early in the tree which are always taken for fury prot such as the bonus threat generation, shield block, and last stand. But you never really see people go deep into the
hardcore occasionally where survivability is the most important factor even over threat. But typically playing vanilla nowadays, people aren't sitting there waiting for five sununders anymore. They want to go from basically
the first global. It's just a change in how people play the game. And maybe that, but that's kind of what people expect it to be a little bit. I do love style exist. >> Like when it comes to which class needs
the most changes, I think objectively warrior needs less, right, than mage in the sense that the fury tree owns fury pro owns arms in PvP owns a not in
duels, but like in world PVP or like battlegrounds. And then I agree the prot rotations, not so much. Like the rotations are actually fun and interesting and it's not one button. Like mage owns, but it needs a lot of
some like some changes. Warrior just just is already awesome. Like you you could improve the prochery. Fair enough, but like that's definitely way less things such as world buffs and consume stacking and pure player skill, but
still I wouldn't want it taken away. It is cool that warriors can have this kind all out on pure threat generation and balancing how much damage they're tree could be there as well on certain fights where survivability is really the
thing that matters most. I reckon there will be dual specking classic plus two. And if this happens, I strongly suspect your tanks may be respecting if protection does become viable. I'm not sure how annoying that would be, but it
is just an afterthought as well. So, I'm actually curious as someone who's never actually tanked on a warrior for for you warriors out there, um, specifically warrior tanks, would you rather tank as pro or would you rather
tank as some type of interesting fury pro hybrid spec, right? pro hybrid spec, right? Fury pro 100%. PRO,
pro, fury pro, prot. So, I'm seeing a lot of both, but I think more just prot. an outsider, I've played a lot of warrior, but I haven't actually tanked warrior, but I haven't actually tanked as either one. Um, fury prot seems so
cool. Like, it just seems so cool. In fact, I kind of want to do it. Like, if announced, but it doesn't come out till like next year, I might make a fury prop warrior just to do it because it just seems so fun. Like, you're tanking
without a shield. Like, that's awesome, right? your damage mitigation just comes from other areas. Like so cool. You're still doing some damage. Like it just sounds awesome. Like it sounds so cool. I've never done it, but like way cooler
than just like a normal kind of just tank like like any other kind of tank. I never done it. So anyway, I probably should try that out at some point. The other issue with warriors, and this extends to other melee classes as well,
is the endgame weapon choice leaning heavily on weapon skill ratios, which nudges people usually in vanilla to picking human for the swords or orc for axes. This upgrade path does niche down which weapons are valuable quite a bit.
And even if other weapon racial skills are expanded to other races, imagine a receive a new best weapon I can wear? If the answer's no, oh well then the raid's answer's yes, then it is. It makes it
maybe this would also keep older rage relevant and you wanting to go back to difficult game to balance, by the way. All in all though, for warriors, they're in a really good spot. I just think it's protection and maybe weapon skill ratios
At number seven, I have >> I definitely think weapon skill. Yeah, which is strong. >> So, like I actually do agree with the top three. Rogue, warrior, mage are my three favorite classes in classic after
playing all of them. Uh, besides shaman, those are my my top three. I don't know lot of the classes, maybe you agree. Rogue, warrior, mage are just so good in >> across the board. They're very good levelers. They've got excellent raid
damage, fantastic cleave, and they are famously oppressive in PvP. They also have some real build diversity. You've got combat daggers, combat swords, and variations of cold blood or deep subtlety, finding homes, too, in PvP.
The weapon situation, I guess you could say, is a bit lopsided. They can also use maces and fist weapons, but you never really see anyone doing that the best weapon specs in the combat tree. Rogues also can't use axes in
vanilla, though that might just be fine as a flavor restriction. That didn't let down I'd say for rogues is their damage dealing poison, so deadly and with talent points, and they come with limited charges, too, so you have to
keep reapplying them. Also, they don't stack with other temporary weapon buffs weapon poisons if you put them on accidentally. The kind of list of how bad they are is impressive. It would be nice in some way for these things to do
some damage. There is also the small matter of preparation resetting the cool down of blind in PvP. This was something that Blizzard removed during TDC and is just so oppressively broken. I don't really know what else I can call it, but
maybe prep shouldn't reset the cool down of blind. Then again, blind can be a little bit more counterplay to it than something I wanted to bring up. All in all though, for rogues, I think they're
in a pretty good spot. It's just a bit of a lack of weapon diversity and damage dealing poisons being frankly really bad. And number six, I have the priest. healers. >> I'm actually surprised priest is this
high on the list because shadow definitely needs some love. and then disc I think kind of works, but I think don't priest raid mainly as
holy. So like there's only like one out of three viable specs. I think you want like one disc priest, right? But like a mainly holy. Um, but shadow needs a lot going to say. >> And they are overall probably the most
consistent healers you'll find on either faction with both holy and discipline both being playable, which is just brilliant. They're also great in PvP as leveler, even if their play style isn't the most engaging, which leaves their
main problem being in PvE, dealing damage as shadow. The catch here is that shadow priests are already so good in PvP. So, anything you really do to help their raiding situation is almost inevitably going to make them even
tricky. >> If I make an alt in classic plus, oh cuz I I of course I'm going to man a mage, but I I also will probably make a warrior. I would maybe make a rogue and
then priest would be my next alt. It's like these top four I guess would be my top four. Crap. I don't know. We'll see. Um, shadow priest I've just always had a think they're so cool, man. But the issues they have in PvE are pretty
clear. Their mana efficiency is absolutely terrible to the point where even on short fights, you can burn out. They lean hard on the raids debuff slots and vanilla typically caps those at 16. I don't think this will be a problem in
moment. Beyond that, their damage overtime effects are just weak offensively. In classic, damage overtime effects cannot crit and don't benefit from haste, so they only scale with spell power and pretty much nothing else
repeating issue for other damage dealing overtime classes, too. But it especially is so for the priest. All in all, shadow priests just need a bump up in damage in achieve that without making them turbo broken in PvP. But hey, there we go. At
number five, I have the Hunter. Another well-rounded class, great at leveling, strong in PvP, especially in open world PvP, and it starts off the vanilla raid tiers in a good place damage-wise. It also carries a load of extra systems
that no other class has to think about, such as pet management, ammo, pet training, and so on. So, I've never actually done a hunter with a pet, funny enough. I've played a hunter without a pet on my petless hunter challenge, and
I loved it. Like, hunter is is actually just super fun. I haven't, like I said, would maybe even make it more fun or less. But, um, like this, this list in terms of fun is actually like pretty close to how I would put it. It's like
pretty spot on here. And I really enjoy all that stuff. But perhaps a hunter feature I don't enjoy quite so much, or not necessarily just a hunter feature, but hunters will experience it the most will be the dead zone. So, the hunter's
ranged attacks have a minimum range of 8 yards, while their melee can reach out between those two positions, they just straight up can't hit you. And the because it just doesn't feel terribly intuitive, either in PvE or PvP. I mean,
arrow at a mage if they're standing seven yards away from you. It can't be that much of a problem, right? Am I crazy to say that I actually like the dead zone? You know what? This is probably just my mage bias. This is
probably just my mage bias. I'll I'll I'll be the first one to say it. I think the dead zone is kind of charming in a sense like you can either hit or shoot and your your enemies are trying to stay in between that range.
know. I don't know. That might just be like a really really bad mage take. But when I played Hunter, it never really bothered me either. But I didn't do too much PvP or like any. So, >> and in PvE, Blizzard, well, just on
bosses that care about a class that has a minimum ranged attack range. That dead zone and make it so how it is in TBC where your melee and ranged attacks have a similar range, then you will be encouraged to do melee weaving to
bolster your damage at end game. And I, >> you know, I guess that's fine. Like I guess that's fine. So you have the like you could you can either Okay, I let me let me rephrase. I don't think I like modern hunter where
you can shoot from point blank. As much as I like how TBC hunter you can either shoot or attack. But if someone's right on top of you, to kite to then shoot again. Like I actually like that. I think that's cool.
matter what. I don't know. Something guess that's what I meant even more than dead zone. Like you can I like I don't I don't mind if hunters can attack close range and then shoot far, but it's just
blank. I think >> not entirely sure if everyone wants to should go down the raft route of your melee and ranged attacks having the same swing timer, which effectively kills melee weaving. Every single possible
change has upsides and downsides that >> Hunter players out there, do you guys like melee weaving? If you don't know what it is, then I guess don't answer. But if you know what that is, do you like it?
Yes. Yes. No. Yes. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. Yes. Yes. No. No. Like. So, the idea is you'll shoot and when your bow is on cooldown, like you're getting that next uh weapon swing timer. You're going to go into melee range and like
raptor strike and then you'll start like a mele uh a melee weapon uh weapon swing and then you'll go back out and then you'll shoot again. It's like super four like five head and it it takes a lot of effort and it's like minimal DPS
increase but it's like I don't know kind of cool. I think like if you're a sweaty player you probably think it's sweet but for like most people it's probably just stupid. So like I guess I could see it
it >> from people may not like I'm starting to dead zone because it's the familiar thing even if it's not the best. Let me play a hunter though, which version of the dead zone do you like most? The
vanilla one how it is at the moment, the TBC one which really pushes you to melee which makes your weapons share swing The other problem on top of that for hunters are their pet.
>> I think I like the TBC one personally. Like there's there actually is no dead anywhere either. Like I I actually think I like the the TBC one. They don't scale take full damage from area of effect attacks with no mitigation. So, by the
been following you around so faithfully and doing so much work is kind of useless. I mean, TBC did the fix here. I said at the start of the video, I'm not looking to copy paste stuff from every other expansion, but TBC fixed this.
Just hunter pets need to scale with the hunter and they need some AoE avoidance randomly anything in raids. The final potential problem, potential problem, >> I don't see a problem if a certain
>> I don't see a problem if a certain expansion fixed an issue like this seamlessly to put it on classic plus. Like I would I wouldn't shy away from oh this was in TBC so we can't use it. I would be wary of overusing things just
But if it was a good fix and people liked it from Wrath or from TBC and it was seamless, like that's probably just a good fix then, right? So yeah, I think
>> with Hunter is they have a lot of magical abilities which don't really scale with anything because you're never building spell power. Things like your fire trap, serpent sting, arcane shot, volley, they do a surprising amount of
they have. I've been pushing for survival to be the spell power hunter instead of this melee thing for so long now. I love to see that. Highly doubt it abilities again being good during leveling but useless at end game is
all, hunter is one of my >> I actually was fascinated with a build the hunters ran. I think it was in TBC where it was like an arcane shot hunter and you would stack spell power in PvP and you would just press arcane shot and
and you would just press arcane shot and try to oneshot someone with spell power. Like that actually as a mage player that's like the coolest thing ever. Like I would actually love to play that. Like that would be so fun. Favorite classes
in vanilla with some rather notable downsides. There's a discussion around the dead zone to be had here. I think pets just need to be better at endgame which could use some love. At number four, I've got the warlock. That was my
it's a class I've got a pretty good they're a good leveler. They're a great gold farmer. And they have a niche but oppressive PvP spec with souling. And they're fine in raids too, but their
main job is really just putting up curses and pressing shadow bolts. Main weaknesses is the similar criticisms. I feel like we have a little warlock bias here. Willie, what unique but oppressive or niche but oppressive PvP? Warlocks
or niche but oppressive PvP? Warlocks are the best PvP class in vanilla. Like when it comes to duels, battlegrounds, defending nodes, like world like they are just absolutely cracked. Let's just say it how it is. Like let's let's not
shy away from this. All right. Warlocks just rule the whole thing here in in >> And for hunters with their pets, they just need to scale a bit better in that. But the bigger mess that the warlock has is the entire demonology
tree. I think the most popular raiding spec has you spend 21 points in the demon alley tree, making your demon way more powerful. Then you pick up demonic and then never see your demon again. It kind of just feels Am I crazy? I
actually like DS. I don't like pets following me around. So, when I can sacrifice my pet and just get a buff, I actually prefer that. My biggest problem with Warlock after playing one recently is the the leveling is fun, but when you
hit max, you're literally just a shadow bolt bot. Like, I want anything besides just one button. Like, give me give me a proc. Give me something else to hit. Same problem with a mage. One button. I don't I don't actually mind sack at all.
>> Counterintuitive. Even though it is a really powerful talent and you have to invest a lot to get to it, it still just doesn't feel great. And the demon algae absolutely terrible as well. You're spending five points here and there for
a little bit of extra mana or health on your demons. Warlocks also have no hit chance talents for destruction either, making it quite a difficult spec to play out, that should be alleviated as time goes on. There's also no threat
reduction either for the destruction tree, but Warlocks are all about that risk for power kind of gameplay fantasy, so maybe that's fine. As for the raid rotation, it's kind of that same one button rotation problem that the mage
corruption if you're given a debuff slot to do that. And then you just press and that's kind of it. That's why you're there. There's also the fire destruction build which isn't good enough to be a real alternative partly because a bunch
>> this this should be buffed. It would be rad to be able to play a fire destruction warlock, right? Emilate can flag like heck yeah that'd be fun to just can't really do that right >> does resist fire early on but also
filler spell that it can use such as incinerate again maybe just putting interesting enough but perhaps there could be some room for improvements here affliction is also weak for the same reason shadow priest are where damage
whatsoever and there being a lack of debuff slots on bosses I also think it's worth bringing up salt >> I Wonder if DOT should just crit in vanilla to fix shadow priest and affliction warlock.
unintended consequences like bleeds for warriors or something. Trying to think like PvP. Oh yeah, it would make PvP even worse cuz cuz shadow priest and Yeah, I don't know. I have to think about that more. But like it kind of
sucks that you can't play AF. Like when I when I hit 60 on my lock, I wanted to play AF so bad. So I tried it and that you just do literally no damage and it's literally spamming shadowbolt than I would multi- dotting like all these
want to play affliction, but you just like can't really, you know, >> link in particular because it is incredibly niche at what it's good at and that's one v1s in PvP. And when a good player uses soul link, they're kind
of not really beatable. We've seen plenty of classic dueling tournaments where soul link was allowed and loads of warlocks got really far. And then in banning the talent point because it is just so oppressive. There have been a
bunch of surveys and questioners. So, Soul Link. Yeah, Soul Link makes warlocks pretty much unkillable. But I'm pretty sure in the tournament where they pretty sure in the tournament where they banned Soul Link, which is Warlock's
best ability, Warlock still won. Correct me if I'm wrong. Think about that. Soul Link 30% reduced damage. Best Warlock ability. There's a
damage. Best Warlock ability. There's a tournament where they banned Soul Link, which is like make makes your class just so much worse. And Warlock still won. Like just think like imagine if mages were the like best duelers and you
you're like, "Okay, Polymorph is too strong." So then you just ban Polymorph that. It is crazy to wrap your mind around that. You know what I mean? classic may be going down the route of getting more support for 1v ons or
want solink to be this good in a world where that piece of content is far more relevant. I think it actually might be a bit too oppressive even for vanilla because apart from 1 v one, solink just doesn't really do anything. It's not
good for farming. It's not good for PvE. In group PVP, it's okay because you're debuffs, but still it's kind of average at best. But overall, those are my classes left and there should be absolutely no surprise to hear that they
will be >> shaman, pali, druid. >> Three hybrid classes. These are the ones that need the most work in my opinion. At third place is paladin. So, a lot of the paladin strengths sit in very narrow
corridors. They're very good at 1 v one PvP actually. They can pull big packs dungeons, and they're a safe and sturdy pick for the hardcore challenge. Also, the holy spec in PvE is really their go-to. But most of the actual SP
>> this is the most dopamine ever. Makes me love Pali. Pali is really annoying for a fun. >> Feel like they're missing something for the Paladin. And there's kind of a reason for that. The Paladin was the
most reworked class in the game going from alpha to beta to release of World of Warcraft. If you go back to the beta, the Paladin had more melee abilities. Their seal spells were castable on allies and they had an instant weapon
called crusader strike. Blizzard cut both of these before the game went live both of these before the game went live to sus
and took it away. What? Increases the holy damage taken by the target by six per crusader strike. Can be applied up to five times. why they've always felt as though they have a super simplistic way of playing.
Another potential issue is that every single blessing has the same category. So, blessing of kings, protection, freedom, might, what have you. And this say you have blessing of kings on someone and you're assigned to do that
you've freedom them because maybe they're a tank and they need to get back them, you need to press kings on them again because otherwise they are going anymore. They changed this system in Wrath of the Lich King. So the utility
called hands. So hand of freedom, hand of protection, whilst blessings such as their own things which were longer duration. Greater blessings maybe last a subject. I think usually I'm okay with classes not just getting loads of
quality of life pushed on them. But in this case with blessings, it is a little And I did play a >> I think the hand of freedom is a great change and I think the longer duration on buffs is a great change. I played a
super troll. >> Held in as an alt for quite some time during classic in 2019. Protection is also in a strange place too. It has weak mitigation, no taunt in vanilla, very mana inefficient, difficult to gear, and
even the protection tree has a bunch of talents which involve getting critically planning to get critically hit as a tank. This is very counterintuitive. points in the holy tree to grab
consecration or your famous AoE threat will be well non-existent. Protection isn't too far off working, but as it shipped, it doesn't really quite all come together. Retribution is also a bit bare bones, and the longunning joke in
entire rotation by level four because you have a seal and a judgment. And uh that. Unfortunately, there's another problem that always comes up with rep is possible in vanilla, by the way, but people don't tend to do it because a it
costs a lot of mana, and b it doesn't really make you do any more relevant But I find people either love or hate it. And even in Season of Discovery, controversial when it was the top paladin DPS back. I do wonder whether it
can exist in a >> pal out there, do you like seal twisting, yes or no? I know. I talked to Ezfan and Ezfan loves it. I think Savix also made a Pali. He was like a bit split on it. He like likes it, but it's
split on it. He like likes it, but it's also kind of annoying. Um, yeah, you guys are split on it, too. I So, I played a lot of Pali recently, but So, I played a lot of Pali recently, but I played prot and like in TVC and in
twist as prot because it makes no meaningful difference in a DPS. So, since I haven't played it as rep, right? >> Healthy way for the rep paladin. Aside
from that, the other issues Brett has is poor mana, as I just went over, lack of abilities, poor scaling, and you just don't really feel as though you're doing and hope command procs. It's not very engaging. So, for Paladin, it's mainly
protection and retribution that need a looking out. And number two, I have Shaman. Shaman does three things in the vanilla really well and everything else somewhere between meh and okay. Those three things they're really good at is
playing as elemental in PvP where you can global people with elemental mastery, pressing chain heal as a healer, and dropping windfury totem as pretty much any shaman spec to be honest. Outside of that, they're kind of
not that great. Shaman's mana efficiency across all their specs is just so bad. It doesn't matter what point of the game you're at, whether you're at leveling or endgame, it just feels as though your mana disappears incredibly fast. There's
also some spells which I don't really understand why they are there in their current form. Like I get they're there for flavor or something and utility or for fun spells are fine, but can you explain to me the point of frostb
weapon, flame tongue totem or wind wall totem? Because I don't really know when you use them. Another problem shaman has is the elemental spec has to sink so many talent points into their tree before they can get cast time reduction.
tree to be honest. It just makes it feel like you can't play the spec even if you knockback prevention from being critically struck by ranged or melee attack. And in PvE that basically just means a melee attack because ranged
there's something else that hurts them in raiding content and that is that nature is not covered by any curse debuff. Curse of elements does frost and fire. Shadows does shadow and arcane. And nature is simply left out which is
>> so shaman's the one class I haven't played in classic WoW and there's a reason why. Like totems requiring all these totem slots. You have to put the totems down. You have to move them so you don't pull more mobs and like you're
know. >> It's ironic when the curse of elements there you go. It doesn't help their situation. enhancement runs into the same manner issues and carries a bunch of filler talents that make you wonder
on. Like, do we really need to spec to get parry or two-handed weapons? If other shaman specs had the ability to do those, would it be breaking the game? Storm strike, your big four fun button at the end of the tree is also just so
bad. It's expensive on mana. It's got a really long cool down, and the debuff it source of nature damage. Which means that the number one spot in the class that's in probably the most dire need of help in vanilla is the druid. As much
>> I would have actually like if I made the list probably put druid above like like put pi and shaman below. I probably would have done druid pi shaman but I'm curious as to why he thinks druid is here. I mean
at least there's like a taunt on the pro like on when you're playing bear like you at least have a taunt. At least you can bear tank. At least it's viable. Like the heals, like at least you want a druid to put up some hots, right? Like I
don't know if it's as bad as pali. I don't know. I love the druid. It's hard to ignore the problems. They are greater world one-on-one PvP. They're a top that's a strength. And they're the best flag carrier, too. And all those are
with druid is that all of those outperformed with much less effort by minimax so much just to be subpar. The feral tree packs two specs cat damage
and bear tanking into a single tree. And I think unlike enhancement, Blizzard actually did a really good job here. Both of them work kind of. I'm not sure separate trees the way Mr. Pandaria did. Though I will admit I find the idea of
fourth talent trees interesting for Classic Plus 2. Bears themselves aren't bad tanks either with decent single target threat and a massive health pool. But swipe their AOE attack is just so unbelievably confusingly bad. It's
capped at three targets and for some unfathomable reason does not scale with attack power. Why did you do this Blizzard? Druid's cat DPS feral meanwhile leans heavily on minmaxing through power shifting and manual crowd
expression is interesting and I think it should remain a part of the class, maybe it could just be a bit less annoying to maintain than it currently is. >> Is is this like a buttons for manual crowd pummelers 1402?
Goodness gracious. Yeah, if you guys play play cap druids in vanilla wow, I it's it's crazy, man. You get the what what's it called? the wolf's head helm shift and the manual crowd pummel is like from nomon and it's like a blue
helm is your best in slot the manual crowd pummeler from nomer is your best in slot and you get like attack speed and you just shift in and out of cat form to get more energy spam shred it's super super it's actually interesting
like so interesting it's almost cool but then it's just not because then it's form druids out there that play this that love it though So, it yeah, it's very RPG. It's very interesting. It's almost cool. I can see why some people
healthy, >> especially when for all that effort, you're not beating a bunch of other classes anyway. Restoration is okay, but vanilla healing is so whack-a-ole that often it just gets beat out by paladins
overtime effects of the same rank cannot stack with one another. only the druids be applied which makes the >> so this is this is a problem druid which isn't very likely to be honest even worse than it already is but
druids are meant to be the effective heal overtime class and as they stand at the moment you kind of just press healing touch or regrowth with the tier the saddest case of all for the druid
they have poor mana efficiency weak damage from starfire and raph is it's nature damage same problem as Elemental Shaman. It's another one button spec and they have no reliable push back protection whatsoever. Also,
restoration tree. So, you can't press that ink form either. And a final >> I Yeah, I hate that. Insect swarm you have you go out of uh moonkin form. Like I was playing a moonkin the other month, the other year I guess. And I wanted to
theory craft a build called melee moonkin. And you get like the natural instincts talent to make your weapon deal more damage. and it can proc omen of clarity so you get free spell casting and then you have thorns that like hits
them back and you're tanky as a bear and you're doing the the weapon damage and the moonfire is procking damage and then I thought you could put up insect swarm that would do damage so between thorns insect swarm melee attacks and clear
casting you'd stay at 100% mana kind of and like kind of pumped DPS that was my theory the problem is you can't insect swarm and moon conform so it breaks the whole spec cuz like you kind of need that extra dot so that that is annoying
talent tree overall just feels as though it has so many talents which you don't really want to take but you kind of have to to get to the good stuff. I know with vanilla there's a lot of overlap and diversity between talent trees to
But here with the balance tree there's just too much garbage at the top of the rethink for druids. I reckon each of their specs aren't far off being good but they are in need of the most help. That's my personal go at all the nine
>> guy. You guys are always hating on the melee moonkin. melee moonkin. Look, you're as tanky as a bear. The weapon damage isn't great, but like you're getting free damage in thorns is
to be face to face with the mob and you get improved thorns. Okay, Moonfire is ticking. And if insect swarm worked, it's that insect swarm, thorns, melee weapons, and Omen procs off of the weapon. So, you're
getting damage in, mana back, free spells, insect swarm, tanky as a bear. Like, it would actually be kind of sick. Okay, I'm just saying it would be kind
of sick. I tried it. It actually wasn't as bad as >> Which ones need the least to the most attention and their main weaknesses, Across the board, there are some recurring themes here. one button
rotations, mana bars that run out too fast, periodic damage that sucks, magical abilities that don't scale with your main stat, and pets that are What do you think though? Which one of these classes do you play the most? And
main weaknesses? And are there any other things you'd like to see change with comments down below. And as always, thank you all so much for watching and listening in, and I'll see you all in the next one very soon.
um >> when close >> don't agree with the exact list but I agree almost um with everything like so the top three I agree with the bottom three I also agree with like do we all
three I also agree with like do we all agree that druid priest sorry druid pali shaman are like bottom three like I think we could all agree right druid pali shaman need the most love yeah and we all agree that warrior mage rogue
sense that like they're already per like they're already pretty fun the way they agree with that and then all the rest are kind of like in the middle funny enough. It's also kind of true in in the sense that those are the like most fun
classes a lot of the time. So yeah. Yeah. Like I generally agree. I think like I'd definitely have warrior in the number one and then maybe rogue number rogue three or something like that. And at the bottom I would maybe do like I
I'd put Pali last. I think I would do like or maybe even shaman last. I'd probably like druid pali shaman or something like that. Um but I I think I agreed like like largely with this video. Very very cool upload from Willie
video. Very very cool upload from Willie man. Classic plus hard.
