# No, Seriously. AI Just Killed Dropshipping…

## Summary

AI tools have made dropshipping look easier than ever, yet ad costs are up and stores are failing. This video explains that AI actually flooded the market with identical stores, and the winners now are those who embrace the middleman model: sourcing directly from 1688/Taobao via Team Drop and deeply understanding customer language. It offers a practical anti-clickbait strategy for surviving the AI saturation.

### Key Points

- **The Dropshipping Paradox** [00:02] — Despite AI tools promising easy $100K stores, ad costs are up over 60% and previously months-long runways now saturate in weeks; even stores doing everything right lose money.
- **AI Flooded the Market** [00:41] — AI gave everyone the same tools, products, and copy, so stores compete only on price and customers stop trusting generic stores.
- **The Information Edge Is Dead** [01:06] — Product research tools and winning product lists are now public; more people bid on the same ads, driving costs up.
- **Relationships Over Tools** [02:12] — The edge was never in the tools but in relationships; successful stores are built on being the hardest person to cut out of the equation.
- **AliExpress Is Someone Else's Middleman** [02:39] — Sourcing from AliExpress means AliExpress takes a cut between you and the source; a true middleman controls both supplier and customer relationships.
- **1688 vs AliExpress: 30–50% Cheaper** [03:33] — The same product is 30–40% cheaper on 1688 (sometimes 50% cheaper) because AliExpress sellers simply mark up 1688 products; overpaying erodes margins.
- **Team Drop for Direct Sourcing** [04:40] — Team Drop is a free platform for direct 1688/Taobao access, with faster shipping (5–8 days via Yun Express vs 3 weeks) and a personal WhatsApp agent.
- **Customer Research Beats Generic Ads** [06:49] — Before ads, find customers on Reddit, TikTok, Amazon reviews, or Facebook groups; study their complaints and exact words to create ads that don't sound like ads.
- **AI Makes the Middleman More Valuable** [08:49] — When everyone has the same tools and products, only deep embedding on both sides of the transaction sets you apart; AI can't replicate that.

### Conclusion

The video's core message is that AI didn't kill dropshipping—it killed the lazy, copy-paste approach. To win now, you must become a true middleman: source close to the source and speak your customer's language, making yourself impossible to cut out.

shipping business right now, >> to AI, you can get the full store set already done $100,000. >> this brand new Shopify store pulled in over $50,000. So, according to the internet, drop
shipping has never been easier. AI built your store, AI finds your products, AI writes your ads. Literally, anyone can do it. And yet, ad costs are up over 60% that used to have a runway of months are saturating in weeks. And the stores that
are doing everything right are still losing money. So, something doesn't add up. Think about it. Every tool that you need is available. Every course is out there. The barrier to starting has never been lower. And yet, the results aren't
AI didn't make it easier. What it actually did was flood the market with identical stores, identical products, identical copy. And when everything compete on is price. But here's the thing, the stores that are actually
winning right now, they're not doing what most people think. And once you pretty obvious why everything else isn't working. So, in this video, I'm going to show you exactly what those stores are doing differently and how you can apply
that starting today. Let's get into it. So, here's specifically what changed and you remember when having access to a good product research tool was an finding things that other people couldn't see. Now, those tools are
everywhere. Those winning product lists are basically public information at this is trending now, there are hundreds of people that are already running ads for spending money on every single month to find winning products, it's pretty much
saturated. And here's the thing, once the information edge disappeared, people that are chasing the same products, that basically just means that more people are bidding on the same ads. And more competition means that your ad
costs are going to go up. And the customers who've seen the same generic store a hundred times, they simply stop trusting any of them. It's all whole thing unravels. So, this is exactly why switching products, spending
more money on ads, jumping to a new niche, none of it is fixing the actual problem. You're changing the tactics inside of a broken model. So, here's seriously winning right now, they figured out something pretty simple. The
edge was never in the tools, it was always in the relationships. And I want information edge is gone is because AI made everything accessible to everyone. test of time, they're not built on having the best products or the cheapest
prices, they're built on being the hardest person to cut out of the equation. That is the middleman model. And right now, that's exactly the position you want to be in. The thing is, most drop shippers, they think that
they're already operating as middlemen. And technically, yeah, you are. You're But here's the problem, if you're sourcing from AliExpress and just hoping controlling the equation. You're the customer of someone else's middleman.
So, AliExpress is sitting between you and the actual source and they're taking a cut before you've even made a sale. A real middleman controls both ends, the relationship. And that is where everything changes. So, let me show you
exactly what I mean. So, here's something most people don't see coming you do everything right, you find a product, you set up your store, you run figure out how much you made on that sale and it's like $3. And that moment
has to be one of the most deflating things in this whole business because got nothing out of it. Now, most people at that point think that something is so they start tweaking stuff. But here's the thing, that's usually not the
margin they started with before they even ran a single ad. Now, to kind of illustrate this, let me show you exactly what I mean. So, this is the same product on two different platforms, AliExpress on the left and 1688 on the
right. Now, I want you to look at the price difference. 30 to 40% cheaper on average. In this case, it's 50% cheaper for the same exact product. The suppliers on AliExpress are literally just buying on 1688 and marking it up
not buying from the source, you're just buying from someone who's buying from realize that they're overpaying for their product and that's where the whole business falls apart because you're slowly losing money on every single sale
a little bit of money, but over time, it adds up pretty quickly. Now, most people don't even know 1688 exists and the ones that do usually just see that straight back to AliExpress because it's easier and more convenient, which is
advantage here for people who figure it out. So, the platform that I've been using to do exactly that is called Team Drop. It is completely free and it gives you direct access to 1688 and Taobao without having to deal with any of the
show you how this works. You can see right here that you can source through 1688 and Taobao or they also have their own fulfilled products, which gets you access to much faster shipping lines that I'll show you in a second. So, as
an example, we can go in here and type in car window chin rest for dogs. And if we go into this listing right here, you can see that the pricing is already significantly lower. But most important part is the shipping lines. So, you can
go from the standard 3-week shipping that you're going to get on AliExpress all the way down to 5 to 8 days with Yun Express, which is one of China's most reliable shipping lines. And that alone is going to change the whole customer
experience if they're getting the product in hand much quicker than your competition. Now, the part that I think is arguably the most useful is right here on the right-hand side. You can see that there's this WhatsApp icon. This is
personal agent that is assigned to your store. So, if you got a lost package, product, there's a quality issue, whatever it may be, someone is going to be there to help you sort this out and that actually cares about your store.
And as your volume grows or you're getting a lot of orders, your agent is going to help you go deeper. So, better pricing, custom packaging, working directly with manufacturers. That's going to come later. The main thing
the right foundation from day one. But if you're the type person who wants corner helping you make the right calls before you waste time and money figuring mentorship for. Now, if this sounds like you, you want our help and you're really
free to apply below and we'll see if you're a good fit. Now, look, sourcing is only half of it. The other half is something most people skip entirely and it's probably the main reason why two stores that are selling the exact same
product can get completely different results. Now, when literally anyone can product alone isn't what makes you stand out anymore. Now, unless you're some crazy inventor, everyone has access to the same products. So, the only real
differentiator left is how well you understand who you're selling to. And They'll spend hours finding the right product, days finding the right product, everything ready, and then they just run ads to everyone with the same generic
angle. So, what I do before I even think about running a single ad is I go find where my customer is already hanging out. So, that could be Reddit, that TikTok comment section, Amazon reviews, and I read what people are saying.
Specifically, looking at two things. What are they complaining about and what language they're using to describe the problem. Because most people, they write their ads in marketing language. For example, premium quality, innovative
design, life-changing solution. And people just scroll right past it because it sounds like an ad. But when you've spent real time in the communities where these people talk to each other, you start picking up on the real language.
So, the way the problem in their own words. And when friend said instead of something that a brand wrote, people won't even notice it like this. If you were selling something that you were genuinely
obsessed with, you already know exactly what to say, right? You'd know what frustrates people about cheap alternatives. You'd know the language without even having to think about it. That is the advantage going into these
that you're selling something in the anime or cosplay space. Instead of just running a generic ad about anime accessories, you go into the cosplay subreddits or Facebook groups and you find something saying, "I've spent so
much money on Demon Slayer replicas and every single one looks cheap and falls getting ripped off." That's your entire ad right there. So, you take the exact they're using, and that's what you build your ad around. And when someone in that
community sees an ad that sounds like something they'd actually say, they don't think, "Oh, this is an ad." They think, "This person actually gets it." talking to and what they care about, the next move is finding a creator who's
already part of that world. So, someone who's genuinely in that community AI tools can show you what's trending, but they can't tell you what your That's something that you have to go find yourself. And most people aren't
doing it, which right now is exactly why it's such a big advantage. So, look, AI changed the game, but what it really did was make the middleman model more important than it's ever been. Because when everyone has access to the same
tools, the same products, the only thing that separates you is how deeply embedded you are on both sides of the transaction. You get closer to the on the table before you've even made a sale, and you take the time to
speak the way that they actually speak about it. That is what makes you the hardest person to cut out of the equation, and that's something no AI that, I hope this gave you a different way of looking at what's happening in
of weird. But if you want to see me apply all this from scratch in a 7-day here. Just filmed it. See you guys in the next one. Peace.
