[0:00] in this video I'm going to explain why [0:01] your videos aren't getting any views I [0:03] know in my other video I advise that [0:05] likes subscribers and retention are the [0:08] key metrics that will determine if your [0:09] videos will go viral or not but today [0:12] I'm going to specifically focus on swipe [0:14] rate swipe rate is a very [0:16] straightforward metric basically it's [0:18] just the percentage of viewers that kept [0:20] watching your video when it popped up in [0:22] their short speed for example if you [0:24] have a swipe rate of 70% that means that [0:27] 70% of viewers chose to keep watching [0:29] your video when it appeared on their [0:31] feed yesterday I discovered something [0:33] very interesting with my videos [0:34] analytics and I thought it would be [0:36] worth sharing it with you all I wasn't [0:38] even planning to make this video but [0:40] after going down a deep Rabbit Hole [0:41] yesterday I really want to show you all [0:43] what I've discovered I had the [0:45] realization that there's an [0:46] understanding correlation between a [0:47] video swipe rate and the number of views [0:50] it gains I've briefly mentioned swipe [0:52] rate in this other video where I [0:54] mentioned with your swipe rate anything [0:56] above 70% is really good but now I'm [0:59] going to show you my video swiper rate [1:00] analytics to prove just how crucial this [1:03] video metric really is you'll need to go [1:05] to analytics select content and if you [1:08] scroll down you'll be able to see your [1:10] Channel's full swipe rate my channel has [1:13] a swipe rate of [1:14] 80.5% meaning that for all of my viewers [1:17] 80.5% of people have chosen to watch my [1:20] shorts when it appears on their feed [1:22] when I started my channel my swipe rate [1:25] was about 60% and over time it has grown [1:28] from 60% to now [1:30] 80.5% and hopefully it will continue to [1:33] increase like I was mentioning before [1:35] there is a great correlation between [1:37] swipe rate and the video's views for [1:39] example you'll see here this video in [1:42] particular has a swipe rate of [1:46] 98.7% meaning that for all the viewers [1:48] that had this video on their shorts feed [1:51] 98.7% of people kept watching and as you [1:54] can see the video has performed [1:56] extremely well with almost 10 million [1:58] views and as we go down the list you'll [2:01] notice that most of my videos have a [2:02] swipe rate greater than 70% so this just [2:06] proves that there is a strong [2:07] correlation between the swipe rate and [2:09] the number of views the video has gained [2:12] I posted this video and it actually [2:13] performed really badly for my channel I [2:16] was quite confused as to why it [2:17] performed so badly because the video was [2:20] just like any other video that I've [2:21] posted recently and they've all tend to [2:23] do really well so I selected reach on [2:26] the video's analytics and straight away [2:28] I noticed that the swipe rate was very [2:30] low compared to my other videos so the [2:32] video swipe rate is under 60% which is [2:35] not typical for most of my videos they [2:37] usually get 70% or greater after the [2:40] first few hours of posting this video I [2:43] assumed it performed badly because it [2:44] had a low likes and subscribers ratio [2:47] but after looking at it I could tell [2:48] that the likes were pretty substandard [2:50] compared to my other videos and the [2:52] retention was also extremely high so as [2:55] you can see at the beginning of the [2:56] video I'm pointing to some text and then [2:59] it takes a few seconds for the video to [3:01] actually start so this means that people [3:03] have started watching the video not [3:05] really understood why the video was [3:07] created or what it was about and kept [3:09] swiping so this video has recently blown [3:11] up on my channel and if we look at the [3:13] swipe rate it is incredibly High which [3:15] makes sense as to why it's blown up and [3:17] got so many views so if we look at the [3:19] video itself I'll show you the exact [3:21] first few seconds as to why it kept [3:23] viewers engaged so it's obviously [3:25] something that's very engaging and [3:27] viewers have kept watching the entire [3:30] video it also has a very high like and [3:32] subscriber ratio however the retention [3:34] is only 70% which is a lot lower than [3:37] most of my other viral videos so this [3:39] just proves that the swipe rate is [3:41] actually more important than retention [3:43] itself the most viewed videos have the [3:46] highest swipe rate and if we go all the [3:48] way down to my lowest viewing videos [3:51] this video's only got 162,000 views and [3:54] it's got a swipe rate of under 60% so [3:56] looking at these video analytics it is [3:58] very obvious that the swipe rate [4:00] definitely determines whether or not [4:02] your video will go viral in this case [4:05] any swipe rate below 60% will not go [4:08] viral on my channel and to prove this [4:10] point none of my viral videos have a [4:12] swipe rate under 65% so after looking [4:15] through my own video swipe rate I'd be [4:17] interested to know if you guys see the [4:19] same results when looking at your own [4:20] videos analytics do you have any High [4:23] performing videos with a swipe rate of [4:25] less than 65% and if you have an average [4:28] swipe rate across your Channel of [4:29] anything less than 70% this may be the [4:32] reason why your videos are stuck on zero [4:34] views or are not getting any views at [4:36] all it seems that YouTube really [4:38] prioritizes this metric of swipe rate as [4:41] they want viewers to stay engaged and [4:43] keep watching as much content as they [4:45] can so it makes sense for channels with [4:47] high swipe rate get more views as [4:49] YouTube want viewers to stay engaged for [4:51] as long as possible please comment down [4:53] below if you've noticed the same thing [4:55] happened with your own channel and tell [4:56] me about your own swipe rate I really [4:59] hope that you guys have gained a [5:00] valuable insight into this video metric [5:02] and can improve it going forward on your [5:04] own channels if you have any other [5:06] questions about metrics or how to get [5:07] views make sure to comment down below [5:10] thanks for watching
