[00:02] controversy. This is from seven days ago. I just have not had the time to watch it till right now. Um, what's the controversy? Let's watch the video and find out. Is a game that defined a genre and Blizzard [00:16] is attempting to recapture its magic with Forever, otherwise known as Classic Plus. Starting from nothing. Join me as I archive my journey from level one to level 60 and beyond, detailing every step and misstep along the way. From [00:30] character creation to endgame raiding to PvP, from within the game to the wild controversies that commonly transpire outside of it. Welcome to another to the wild. World of Warcraft Forever isn't even out yet, but it's already [00:46] dealing with a gold buying scandal. The RMT, guys, it's a beta. happening? >> Controversies that commonly transpire episode of my >> sneaky beavers. [01:10] >> Princess time. This will be another good test. This is a pretty tough quest to this. It looks like this guy needs it social here for a change and make sure he gets credit. [01:25] What? Oh my god, that's so lame. How the does that work? I'm the one who invited him. He's right in front of me. Oh my god. Okay, so a bit of preamble here first before we begin. Speaking of layering, I did have [01:38] >> Dude, the layering is is is like the top issue right now in my opinion. we were talking about in the podcast earlier like that that that is immersionbreaking. That's tough. That's tough. [01:52] >> An error in episode one where we were talking about layering and I mentioned how I don't expect to see the same players over and over. Well, as it turns try to keep the same people in the same layer, particularly if you've grouped [02:05] with anyone and they're in your [music] recent players list next to your friends menu. Apparently, these players will have a higher chance to be put into your layer. So, [music] that was an error on my part in episode one. And thank you to [02:17] turns [music] out, this dynamic >> I I called him out for that, but it was that mistake when I watched his last video. But he's right in the sense is that the the system tries to work, but it's not a perfect system either. like [02:32] it's not a perfect system either. like it tries its best to um give you the layers with people that you've played before with, but it's it's it it's not perfect. Sometimes it doesn't or, you know, sometimes it tries [02:45] fair critique. >> Like I mentioned, is something that Blizzard is aware of and I wanted to make sure to give them credit here. That nature of the series and how I'm covering it as I experience it, there [02:59] could be some similar flubs like this in the future. I try my best to give an accurate and honest take, but I still make mistakes from time [music] to time. And just for future reference as kind of a preventative measure of that, [03:11] >> down below, I'll have a comment for each episode detailing any corrections if I episode detailing any corrections if I do make any further major errors. So, you're getting the full picture and story. So, [music] we're still on our [03:23] baby steps of our journey here in the Elwin Forest. Uh, hang on. What can I >> What [laughter] can I complain about here? I I like Mad Season. Mad Season is great. He at the start of his video, he calls out the last video saying like, [03:39] "Oh, yeah, I might have messed up, you know. I'll go. Sometimes it happens." >> Oh, okay. This quest is ridiculous. [music] You have to find these water log tools. just says that they're south by the murlocs. So, I want you to look at [03:53] the murlocs. So, I want you to look at this screen and see if you can spot it. hell? It doesn't even have a giant blinking arrow and a waypoint guiding you exactly where to go. Okay, to be serious for a moment, I actually really [04:06] at this point, I have gotten the feeling that the [music] leveling is easier so far. So, my respect for the world is kind of [music] dropped a bit. And I was honestly kind of half paying attention because I had OSRS in the other monitor. [04:20] lazily, I was like, "Okay, what the hell?" And then only after like 15 minutes of actually searching was I able to find all three. And admittedly, I was way points. And even that wasn't super helpful because it [music] was such a [04:35] large area. It's quite the the quest way points. The way Blizzard has it is actually kind of cool. Like Mad Season just mentioned, it actually doesn't tell you exactly where to go. It tells you kind of where to go, which is which is [04:47] kind of a cool option if you want to not be lost for hours, but you also don't want it to just tell you exactly the coordinates. It's like, okay, I'll search around here for a while. >> Beg direction in [music] a giant [05:01] searchable area looking for items that blend in with the environment. It causes you to look at what other players are doing to see if they know where it is or also coincidentally looking at you to see if you know what you're doing. So, [05:13] awkwardly as the temptation to thought bot slowly gnaws at you. I know it's pretty early here, but this is by far the most vanilla of the new quests that I've encountered. You can't ever relive the original run. That's just simply [05:26] impossible. Everybody knows that. However, when people talk about it, they're talking about moments like this where you don't immediately know what to do and you don't have the most efficient way of doing it, which that feels very [05:39] true to vanilla and classic plus for me. However, in episode >> in the beta, I still have not leveled a human. I kind of did this on purpose. It was kind It's actually kind of a happy accident. The human starting zone is by [05:52] far my favorite. It's not even close, and I haven't done it. So, on November 4th, I actually am going to make a gnome, but my plan is to run to Goldshshire quite early so I can do Elwin Forest for the first time, and I [06:06] can't wait. So, little spoilers for me watching this video. one. If you saw, I brought up a worry that with these new quests, there will be an issue of drowning the player in XP. So much so that they start leaving zones when [06:19] have started to see the effects of this in Elwin Forest. There is one caveat to this because I'm playing [music] both OSRS and WoW and with how much time I spend editing, I did have about a 4 day break where, [music] [06:33] rested XP. So that did give me a boost that maybe the average player wouldn't arguable. It's normal, [music] happens and we can't play every single day. I think [06:53] some quests that by the time I was able to get around to them, the mobs were one that [snorts] you're looking at right now, I got from the Eastville logging camp, which is kind of the [music] finale of Elwin Forest, not [07:06] western border near Westfall. Speaking of leveling. What better test than with the big bad of the zone himself, Hoger. So, again, keep in mind here, I'm playing vanilla warrior, which is widely [07:21] agreed to be the hardest class to [music] level in vanilla World of Warcraft. And unless you're using some crazy strategy like using your bag of [music] or you have, you know, full class buffs, [07:33] consumes, you're jousting with your swing timer. A normal warrior is not going [music] to solo hoger at an appropriate equal level. So, let's see how I stack up. Well, I basically just face tanked him with barely any effort [07:48] as I grinded OSR in the other monitor. And if that's not enough for you, what Westfall? This guy's probably even deadlier than Hoger, especially to a warrior. He's an orange dow wielder with a yellow guard. [08:01] And as a warrior, I solo both of them with nothing but a potion. The first [music] pro tip here. This still works. Here's how you get the pocket watch without entering the building. Just get next to the wall [music] on the other [08:14] your camera as such. >> I can't believe he's cheating. >> I can't believe he's cheating. >> And hacker mode activated. So, there's some weird stuff and conflicting information in regards to the mob and [08:26] leveling difficulty in general and leveling speed. One thing that could be happening here is that warrior is a special case because they are the hardest in vanilla. So, maybe it's not a case of the leveling as a whole being [08:39] easier, but instead warrior getting the biggest buff early on because it [music] was the hardest for them, creating the largest discrepancy again. So, when I was leveling my mage, we were having discussions of is this easier, is this [08:53] harder, is this the same? And one of the things that I did is I took a level 14 no mage on the beta and took a 14 no mage on era and I killed the same mobs [09:06] um side by side and I wanted to see which one was harder, easier. Um from my testing, from the 14 no mage testing, it was almost identical. The big difference, the mana regen on forever was a lot higher. So when I did an AoE [09:24] pull of like four mobs, my mana was higher on forever and lower on era, but my HP was about the same. My damage was about the same. It global for global [09:36] took about the same amount of time, but the mana um on forever was was a little was quite a bit higher. So that was like the big difference. But it actually felt like in terms of the damage I was doing, the HP the mobs had, like all of the [09:49] different stuff, it lined up like very close. And funny enough, I also did a slash played of my 14 on Era and my 14 on forever to see which one took me longer to get to 14 on. And my slash played, I don't remember what it was, [10:03] played, I don't remember what it was, but it was um almost identical to like 10 minutes or 20 minutes or something. It was like almost the same exact slash played. So, I mean that's just one example. I mean, so take it with a grain [10:16] interesting. I would like to actually do more um comparisons like that, but I guess the beta is over between like a 20 gnome mage and a you know on era and forever and see how that kind of just the same AOE poll and stuff like that. [10:30] >> I can only offer what's in my scope. Feel free to share your experiences in the comments. If you ask me, I think it's easier, which just leaves the question, is it enough to make the journey not a journey? And it's hard to [10:42] that it's just so early. I'm only level 12. And two, it's just going to differ between people. Some people have a different definition of the journey. For their credit card information correctly. As for myself, I'm a fairly harsh sneaky [10:56] beaver, if you haven't been able to tell yet. So, you know, [music] all I can say is for me, I do definitely have less respect for the world in forever than in sprinting around, I'm like, ah, whatever. This is a good spot for a [11:10] screenshot. Just to be clear, it's nowhere near the level of retail. I'm not saying that. Retail [music] is like a parody of itself at this point. >> Oh my gosh. Wait, this is I think this is footage of me because there's a [11:23] is footage of me because there's a there's a camera in the corner. This is This is my wood wall, I think. Was I playing I must have been playing a shadow priest at some point. I'm pretty sure that's my wood wall. Holy crap, [11:37] guys. We made it on a mad season video. Oh, it's Jerome's room. Oh, it's easier. That must mean it's faster, right? Well, according to Blizzard, no, [11:53] they actually started a podcast for Forever, which I recommend. They go into >> twice >> behind their decisions. And in episode one, they shared that they had received data that the leveling times are [12:07] basically the same. Looking at charts today, our analytics team gave us a uh uh uh a report [music] basically of like leveling speed and the average leveling time to from 1 to 20 in era is 20.4 hours and the average in in forever is [12:22] 20.5 hours. It's actually a little bit longer. Um today. We were just looking at that data. So, it's one of those things that it's it's even out. >> Now, I'm not saying they're lying or [12:34] There's something about this that doesn't really add up to me. So, none of changed. [music] More quests have been added to each zone. Existing quests, such as dungeon quests, offer multiple times more [12:49] experience. A recent change to dissuade people from farming dungeons is that they increased the experience of the quests related to them, but the mob XP people are posting videos of them getting like two [music] levels just [13:02] getting like two [music] levels just from the quests of a dungeon alone. Oh, level 17. That's a juicer. >> Good day to you. >> Good day to you. >> Another level 18 [13:18] keep in mind here is that [laughter] since this podcast, the XP that you get from these dungeon quests was nerfed, but this data is pre- nerf. It's less now as I'm speaking to you, but when this data came out, it was pre- nerf. [13:33] And so that's the context which we're operating out of here. Not only all of >> so like when you if you guys have played the beta, what happens is like leveling the beta, what happens is like leveling actually feels kind of slow or normalish [13:46] until you do a dungeon and then you get like two or three levels after and like he said it was nerfed, but like then it would kind of get slow. You get like showed and then it would get slow again and then you hit another dungeon and [13:59] then boom, two more levels. But only for that one dungeon you you know cuz you can only turn the quest in once. the actual leveling and mob difficulty by my estimation seems [music] to be easier. So, how do all of these things exist and [14:14] the time to level is the same? You know what I mean? Something just doesn't add up to me here. It also might be the it's a beta and people aren't trying to level to 20. They're just running around looking at the scenery, running around [14:29] looking at different zones, running around testing the campfire system. And if you're comparing a beta to like, you know, people playing a live client, maybe that's where the math has gone wrong. [14:41] >> And not even just that, but also various [music] minor things like, for instance, [music] minor things like, for instance, food now giving 5% mob XP. Uh, leather workers giving rested XP at campfires. I'm wondering if this data takes into [14:54] account that, you know, it is a beta and although people are super sweat mode, between leveling and just [music] experimenting with all of the new stuff. time to level professions than they otherwise would have if it was era. What [15:09] I'm saying here, if that's not clear, is that if in these two different versions of the game, Era and Forever, one player takes 15 hours to hit level 20 in era, and the other player takes 15 hours to hit level 20 with max professions in [15:23] forever. The leveling speed in Forever is faster because their time was split [music] between professions and leveling. But at the same time, there have been some tests in terms of mob difficulty. Saru, for instance, actually [15:36] tested an AoE poll in both Forever and Era with relatively the same results, just with more mana in Forever, which has been a concern. Apparently, mana has been a concern. Apparently, mana regeneration is much faster. [15:49] this is this is one of the tests that we did. do that. Is the power creep real at level 14 in Westfall? You can never AoE mana after two kills. Not complaining about the speed of leveling, but the [16:04] difficulty. Yeah, I'm actually curious like if you're a 14 gnome mage and you go to those same nullles on Era, can you do what I just did or are you just going to die [laughter] [16:27] >> So, I don't know. The data is the data. So, I I can't reasonably refute it here, even if to me it feels clearly easier. I can't really say that 100% until I test doing. The only thing I can really think of is what I said earlier is that, you [16:43] know, the warrior was the hardest. So, maybe they have the largest discrepancy from era to Forever, which makes it seem like the leveling as a whole is easier when in reality it's just the class. So, for now, it'll just be something I [16:56] continue to monitor on a personal level. And again something I am interested in if you guys have anything to share with that. Does it seem faster to you? Does Whatever the >> I think it's a good thing that Mad [17:11] Season brings up. One of the things that is really nice about classic era is that is really nice about classic era is that you respect the world. You respect every mob because you know anything can kill you. And that level of respect should be [17:25] there. Once you ar don't respect the world and you just run around thinking, "Oh, I can just kill 10 mobs at once." Like something about that sucks when it's supposed to be the journey is the experience. So, I think Matt season [17:37] brings up a really good point of like you you want to respect the world. You kind of boring and you're just kind of like second monitor like, you know, just pull three mobs, I'll just kill them all anyway kind of a thing. It's like, [17:51] you know, so it's a good thing to bring up, but like I I only did like that one test. It It would be really cool to It would be really cool to see someone like do an entire like level one to 10 side by side like split screen of era and [18:06] forever, same mob, same character, and like just watch the health bars and like everything, right? Like a little more in depth than I did or way more in depth >> cases. I think it would be a much worse scenario if it was too easy rather than [18:19] too hard. Not that vanilla leveling is like this ultimate challenge. I think people kind of overstate it sometimes, but I mean comparing it to retail, like come on. Do you have eyeballs? What even is this on the screen right now? This is [18:35] a complete joke. The footage you're looking at. So with all these cl looking at. So with all these cl >> Wait, is this footage me? I can't like >> is a complete joke. the footage you're looking at. [18:48] >> I think this is my back wall. I'm pretty sure it is, but I don't know. >> With all these class changes and profession changes and the legacy mode and everything, [music] I think that the difficulty of leveling is something that [19:02] could very easily slip away from them. I think that maintaining its difficulty is [clears throat] just their pillar of the journey, but also social experiences. there's more cause to group up with people, isn't there? So, it's a two [19:16] [music] I would actually be in support if they were to, for instance, say that they were increasing mob difficulty even if they were to make it harder than an era, which I think you can make an argument for that to adapt to the more [19:29] skilled, more knowledgeable modern player base. Because of course, difficulty isn't just recreating the environment inside of the game, but also taking into account the environment outside of it. And also another benefit [19:41] to this is that when they do inevitably stab their player base in the back with level boosts, it'll increase level boost sales because people will be more willing to pay more money to skip a harder leveling campaign. So, [19:54] >> it's a win-win for everyone. Added something unprecedented and foreign to the channel in episode 1. We bitched about RMT, which again, if [laughter] you can actually believe, people are doing it in this temporary beta, which [20:06] unbelievable to me. They actually recently increased the level cap to 30. And there was a part of me that was hoping that they were also going to wipe everybody's character solely to screw over the swipers, which would have been [20:19] really funny, but also a less selfish benefit would have been that. I think it leveling because, you know, you have people who are twked out on full blues for the past week and they're going to give skewed information. Now, for sure, [20:32] it'll be inarguable that 20 to 30 will be far easier and faster. But, you know, data is corrupted. So, they'll just say, "Well, you know, people are in all blues, so of course it's easier." So, now they've lost this opportunity to get [20:46] actual stats from a natural fresh wipe with people starting from level one, >> just as how it'll be at launch. >> So, I do feel like this was an error on though, some people have gotten individually wiped from the beta. I [21:01] have been going crazy with the two name feature. This started a whole thing of controversy of a Blizzard developer kind of scolding people on X, telling them to be better people. In response, the internet did its usual thing and they [21:15] past. [sighs and snorts] >> Oh, did they? I didn't follow that. It >> I don't know. I don't really want to stick my nose into it. >> I do hope we see the same energy for the people who bought in R& constantly. [21:30] The banning, not the doxing. That's actually something Jex mods are known there are people who like make a thread on Reddit saying they got banned for no reason and then a mod comes in and is like, "Uh, yeah, you've been botting for [21:44] you've sold 50 billion gold and you threatened to kill a few people for the person deletes the thread and they try to hide it. They call this the Jod. >> Dude, I I feel like you see this so many times, bro. I got banned for no reason. [22:03] times, bro. I got banned for no reason. What the heck? the thing. It probably does happen sometimes where people get banned for no reason and they're saying that legit, but like there's so many times where [22:17] people say this and then they just get called out. It's like, "No, no, you bro." And it's just like awkward. It's like, "All right." And so this immediate conflict of interest is introduced not [22:32] even [music] a week after they announced the strict punishment. So how have they been a [music] mixed bag. Some have been banned. Some of those bands have stayed. Some of them have been unbanned. Others have just had the gold that [music] was [22:46] traded to them removed. So, it's a case- by case basis. They haven't been as ironfisted as [music] they claimed they would be in my opinion, but at the same time, they have followed through in some cases. But also something what what I've [23:00] cases. But also something what what I've been pushing for for years is just this. been pushing for for years is just this. Back in the day in 2004, 2006 or whatever, there was a time where when you bought gold, you were terrified that [23:16] you were going to get banned and had to start over. So people by and large didn't or if you did you were so afraid that you might need to literally restart from one. The result a lot of people just didn't buy it. And if you did you [23:30] were afraid. Then at some point along the line it swapped to oh you know don't do that. Oh okay 24-hour ban 72-hour ban. Please don't do that. You know then it's like these little 72-hour ban things and then no [23:45] one's afraid anymore. So everyone buys gold. So the economy of all the prices gold if they want to get raid consumes. So I've been pushing guys just just ban the gold buyers please so that like we can get the economy under control of [23:59] you got to do it on the buyers. So, this has kind of been my whole thing over the last few years. And it seems like they're doing it, which I like, which is cool. Streamer or not, doesn't matter. Stupid. What? Like, cl what? Whether [24:14] you're streaming or not, ban them if they're buying gold, period. Make it so then who is going to risk their entire WoW account for 500 gold? For 100 gold. Like, come on. Who's doing that? You ban them, right? So, [24:31] so yeah, that's pretty much all for me to say >> to keep in mind here is that for those who did get the >> me me do you guys think you would risk your WoW account to buy a couple hundred [24:45] gold would you guys actually okay if Blizzard banned with even like like 70 80% accuracy like most of the time you buy gold like no way no way you [24:57] would risk that Right. No, no, no, no, no. I mean, you would be dumb to if no. I mean, you would be dumb to if Blizzard actually banned gold buyers even to some degree of accuracy. You would be so dumb to your whole account. [25:12] Come on. Right. So, that's all I want them to get back to. It's like ban the gold buyers to where it's like they're they either don't or they're too afraid to and then if they do, they probably have to restart, right? That's [25:28] man. >> Hammer. It's simply from the beta which you know will end shortly anyways. And it's just a single account banned. They're not banned from every Walmart because they were caught jerking off to [25:40] the ALF posters in aisle 7. They're just banned from that one Walmart. They can make as many accounts as [music] they want for the moment. As far as R&T goes though, as for myself, I'm still untrustworthy. And just so we're clear [25:52] here, I'm going into this and I think others should as well, assuming that it's not really going to get policed and because of that, bots will thrive. [music] And I don't think it's necessarily a case of the developers [26:04] lying or anything. Honestly, the impression that I get from these just the way they conduct themselves is that I feel like they are fairly passionate about the game and they're putting a lot of love and energy into [26:17] it. So, it's not that I necessarily distrust them on an individual level. Blizzard. I've showed this clip a few times on this channel, but one of the fathers of World of [music] Warcraft, Jeff Kaplan, did an interview with Lex [26:31] >> I mean, I'll just let him say it. For me, like what sort of ultimately broke me in my Blizzard career was I got called in the CFO's [26:43] office and and he sits me down and he says he sits me down and he says it he gives me a date which at the time [26:55] was 2020 in the background was going to slip to 2021 but at the time it was 2020 slip to 2021 but at the time it was 2020 >> and he said Overwatch has to And then [music] every year after that, it needs a [27:10] recurring revenue. And then he says to me, if it doesn't do dollars, we're going to lay off a thousand people [27:23] and that's going to be on you. >> That's so insane. >> And that was just the biggest [ __ ] you moment I had in my career. It felt surreal to be in that condition. >> So for me [music] personally, and this [27:37] is just my opinion, but I think that the individual developers know that RMT hurts the game. And [music] if they had a final say, they would do more to control it. But, you know, you can only wonder how many of these conversations [27:51] like Jeff Kaplan had are happening behind the scenes. and do they really going to say to this person who's threatening to fire them if they don't hit these goals to say, "Yeah, hey, okay. So, I want to hire a 100red more [28:05] people to ban 10,000 players a month from our game." Or say, "Ban the streamer that has [music] 10,000 viewers per stream because he bought gold." And you might call bull crap on that, but they've already kind of stepped back on [28:19] it a little bit because it just went from straight permaban to now. Anyone generating, selling, buying, or receiving elicit gold is subject to [28:31] receiving elicit gold is subject to uh the gold being removed or suspensions or permanent account closures. >> Yeah, I I I actually don't like that. Yeah. It's like it should be like like harsh like like very scary like don't do [28:45] this or you have to restart from level one, bro. Don't you know? Uh >> wait, hang on. So, what should we do here? Okay. And see. Okay. Ban. All >> Okay. Definitely banan. >> Uh, dude. [29:01] >> Well, you ban him or anything. our rules again, >> we will seriously removing your gold for a second time. So, this is all kind of [29:15] humorous because >> so like, so back in only things one, I think it was only things. Yeah, only things won. Sodapoppin got, you know, like bought gold, right? And he admitted it and he got [29:30] basically a slap on the wrist. And I I was like I feel like I was like the only person to be like, "Yeah, they should have banned him, right? It would have been like good for the game at large." And I've talked to Soda about this and [29:43] he agrees that he should have been banned. It would have set a great example. You buy gold, you get banned. And they they didn't do that. They They just took away the gold. I think he got like a 72 hour or something. And [29:56] like, oh no. It's like the worst thing you could do cuz now everyone's going to see that. And now everyone's going to do the same. Ah, [30:13] the recent streamer drama. So now they have it in writing that accepting gold puts you at risk. So, you can't throw your hands up and say, "Well, I don't know. Not my fault." Still though, all that being said, I do suspect that they [30:25] will be fairly lenient all things [music] considered. And I'm going into and botting [music] in World of Warcraft forever. But hopefully they can prove me wrong. That would be the preferable outcome. They [30:39] did also recently share that they had banned over 3,700 accounts from the beta for gold buying, which again that's good, but my trust is still basically see what will happen. Hopefully they can do a good job and if they will actually [30:54] follow through with their word. Also, just in case you were wondering, I will not be participating in the dueling tournament. And the main reason for that the extreme stakes I mentioned. People [31:06] are going so hard into this that I would have to match that energy to even stand a chance. And to go that hard, I would have to literally drop everything, including OSRS. And even then, if I were to do that, I [31:19] some of the guys that are in this are actual PvP gods. Some people say, "Well, you should do it anyway because just competing is fun." No, no, no. Okay, let quick here. [laughter] You know what's fun? [31:35] Winning. Winning. Winning is fun. And [laughter] for me to stand a chance have to get banned for buying gold midfight. [31:48] the damn game. One thing I'll say for [music] sure though, it is good to be favorite zones. Actually, I think it's one of the most [music] vanilla zones in the sense that you have to collect every animal part that's ever existed in [32:02] animal part that's ever existed in Anatomy with like four inventory slots. still there. Don't worry about that. Every 5 seconds, you're revisiting your bags to see what you can get rid of. Speaking of inventory though, it is here [32:15] where I discover that transmog isn't the only collection in the game, but also pets. I of course got the Westfall chicken which most people skip because inventory. If you don't know, you get this by buying the special chicken feed [32:31] from farmer Salane and then you do the/ chicken emote on the nearby chickens until they give you a quest. But similar to retail, you can free up inventory by actually like this and then from there you can just sign them whenever you [32:45] want. And I did also check this is an accountwide thing. So >> Oh, it is. you have it on every character. As much of a purist as people call me, I don't mind this at all. I feel like this falls well within the [32:57] considering that, you know, there's going to be so many new items, including cosmetics. In fact, if they make good on their promise of horizontal progression, cosmetics are going to have to play a fairly substantial role. So, it's kind [33:11] you'll just eventually have a 100 mounts, pets, and toys or whatever filling up your bags constantly. I'm assuming the same is true for mounts and you know gadgets like toys and whatnot. And I similarly think [music] that's [33:26] like mounts it's not this accountwide thing where if you get it once then you forever. Westfall of course has new [music] quests just like Elwin. I least a few new ones. For this one, there's a night elf who got tired of [33:41] pestering her own starting zone about the stupid water, and now she's here in Westfall asking you to get some samples as well as some murloc parts. as well as some murloc parts. >> Oh my god, [33:54] >> Yep. >> Oh my god, that's so cool. >> Okay, once again, the graphics are just absolutely stunning. Although we're past the first zone, I would still consider this to be a first impressions moment. [34:08] when the beta first started, I was having big-time frame rate drops. So, I bought more RAM thinking it was my computer. And then literally a day later, Blizzard announces that there was a memory leak the whole time. [34:22] >> [ __ ] Dude, thanks for making me drop $250 for no reason. I really the way, update from the last video where people said I was being neurotic about the retail character portraits, character select screen. [music] In the [34:37] latest patch, they actually changed them to the old version for classic mode users. So, um, yeah. Told you so. By the way, >> bro, I I I love watching Mad Season videos cuz all the like the crazy nerdy [34:49] stuff that I look at and I'm like, uh, like Mad Season calls out all the same things. I'm like, okay, it's not just me. It's not just me, you know? It's not when I watch these videos >> to the start of another era of I told [35:03] you so. I hope you [laughter] enjoy your stay here. But talking more on this idea of first [music] impressions where things might seem small. Something you have to keep in mind is that [music] the vanilla World of Warcraft community is a [35:16] traumatized community. This is a group of people while for years Blizzard was saying you think you do but you don't. They were playing on these sometimes good, but most of the time shady ass private servers that were rife with [35:29] corruption and frequent [music] insane conspiracies and drama. Alex was right, by the way. But even still, they put up with it and they became insanely popular because people loved vanilla [music] that much. But if these servers got [35:42] popular, Blizzard, of course, shut them down. A new one comes up in their [music] place until eventually they can't ignore them anymore. They make 2019 classic. Oh, we wouldn't dream of adding level boost or WOW tokens. You [35:56] know, it's just that's just not in the spirit of the game, you know. Of course, just in case you forgot, there [music] was some monotone guy who said, "Next were the Wow tokens." People called him an old man yelling at the clouds. [36:10] Wow tokens. And then, of course, these people disappear behind theing bush like Homer J. Simpson because he told them so. By the way, classic 29. >> Oh, man. It's just great. How many times have Mad Season has he done this? It's [36:25] videos and he brings it up in every single video at least once. Told you so. By the way, it's great, man. Holy crap. >> 19 starts dying a slow death, not only due to this, but also the acceleration towards retail World of Warcraft as well [36:40] as rampid botting, which was made worse with the level boost. Told you so, by [music] private servers, this time with the classic plus flavor. they get insanely popular, Blizzard sues them and shuts them down, which they're 100% [36:56] within their legal right to do so. I'm not saying they aren't, but the point is is that this is the battered housewife of MMO communities. And so, there's this very large group of people who are curious enough to try it out, but [37:11] they're just waiting for the other shoe to drop and for this game to become version number three of retail World of Warcraft. So much like what the ladies >> what might seem like little things really aren't that little. Um they're [37:25] actually pretty big if you think about it, you know. >> True. >> Yeah. And putting that aside, just when do you think is the most common point that people [37:39] >> No. No. No. That went over my head. I was what I what I was saying true to was that something seemingly small like a that something seemingly small like a character model or the portraits it's [37:53] actually a big deal philosophically because you need to carry these ideas through and you can't just cut corners even on the small things. Mad season. [38:05] >> Quit MMOs or just video games period. You might say it's in the middle when it's at the end game because, you know, hey, I don't want to invest this much time into it. Maybe their class got nerfed and they got pissed off. It's the [38:20] nerfed and they got pissed off. It's the beginning. Look at any game on Steam and how many people have ones from the [music] first 5 minutes compared to something even pretty minor like the first 3 hours. Social media has [38:34] decimated people's attention spans. It's [music] why the bottom half of Tik Tok videos are these cars rolling down hills. People as a whole have lost the than 30 seconds. >> You have my undivided attention. [38:54] Everyone [music] knows how timeconuming of a genre they are. And any player, even if it's subconscious, are quite harshly judging it based off of [music] its look and feel within like the first two minutes where two things will [39:07] happen. Either they become someone who just played it for those 2 minutes or [music] and made 700 videos complaining about microtransactions on YouTube. There's an entire science in optimizing [39:20] and polishing games in these [music] first introduction minutes because game developers know that this is what makes or breaks it. [music] You can have a great game, but if the introduction sucks, 90% of the people who bought it [39:33] will never see it. So, that's basically my neurotic explanation of why complaining about character portraits isn't neurotic, but this is what I would still consider to be an early game impression. I'd say at this point, the [39:46] player is looking at the fish hook. >> They haven't quite bitten it yet, but they're thinking about it. And as I've said many times, graphically, the game is pulling a lot of weight in this regard. It just looks amazing. Having a [39:59] [music] preview of a late game zone as this everpresent reminder of where you're going to end up [music] is a big motivator for a lot of people. It's why the flight path from Iron Forge to Stormwind, for instance, they fly you [40:12] over these highle super intimidating looking zones with elites battling it [music] saying, "Yeah, this is what's awaiting you. So, go get those Gortusk livers. People know me." >> We just talked about this in the GBay [40:26] video. It's so cool how like the intention behind these flight paths. You can't actually go to these zones yet because if you do, you'll die over and over, but you'll fly by them and see them for what's to come. What a [40:39] cool thing, man. >> Is being fairly harsh with Blizzard, which I think is fair [music] considering how much they've fallen should be held to a higher standard. But, you know, let it be known that I do [40:52] the things that they do well. And this I think along with the general graphical style is something that I think they've done a really good job. Oh, hang on. Complaint. Oh, look. There's a horde blood elf leveling in [41:06] Westfall. That's odd. Oh, no. My mistake. This is just the new elf that's a shared race that uses the same animations and models as blood elves, which greatly diminishes faction identity. Who would have thunk it? He [41:20] was about to say they did a great job and then that happened. Oh my gosh. He compliments. The one was on the sticky layering system. Two, he gave him a [41:32] compliment on the on the uh on the visuals. He gave him a compliment on maybe banning that was like a half compliment. There's been there's been a couple compliments. Oh, he complimented on the chicken being a pet that you [41:47] mean, Mad Season's been somewhat optimistic here, guys. >> All right. How long is this video? Can I [ __ ] about [music] this yet? okay. We probably don't have time for it in this one. [42:03] you're lucky this time, you [ __ ] Let's continue to test the difficulty. What level again? We'll just [music] face tank it. Nothing crazy here. Certain death for a vanilla warrior. And I solo [42:17] potion. And I know people are just going to say, "Well, you know, with the better professions, you're better geared." >> Bro, bro, I love this guy so much. Like, I feel like, you know, how every person has like the the two you have like the [42:33] uh the angel and the devil or whatever, and they're like on each shoulder like say this or say that or whatever. Mad Season says all this stuff that I like I might think but then I don't say and then Mad Season says it and it's just [42:46] confidence that it's just like hilarious, man. It's like these comments just like completely calls him out. Oh, it's great, man. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Yeah. [43:00] >> Uh [music] correct. That's included in the reduced difficulty. If these easily crafted items don't exist in classic era, that makes classic era harder. be more poorly geared than in Forever based off of the profession dynamic [43:15] when you're judging the difficulty of the leveling. It's a pretty big part actually. I also noticed as well, and I don't know this for sure, but it seems to me that the health regeneration has [43:28] been increased. Even with big like this, I've hardly had the need to eat or bandage. You're resp. >> So, when I leveled my warrior like one to 25, I think was what I got to on the beta, my like I didn't have to sit down [43:42] and eat almost at all. I didn't need the bandage almost at all. I was a skyborn, so I had the racial that increased my regen too with lay lines, but I my my health was so my health regen was so good that I could [43:55] just go mob after mob after mob after mob after mob like never needing to even mob after mob like never needing to even like bandage as a warrior chain pulling. So like it it definitely was very noticeable. [44:08] >> This member, this is another brewing controversy. This is of course Asmin Goldskilled who's one of the most popular streamers not only of this game but just in general. But this is a brewing controversy because he has so [44:20] brewing controversy because he has so much influence. He has countless guild I think totaling over 50,000 active players at this point. And because everything is just one mega server now per game type, it's not like 2019 [44:33] classic where the streamers kind of self quarantine to one server. Wait a second. quarantine to one server. Wait a second. That's actually right. Now That's actually right. Now there's no escape, [44:49] Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. [45:01] >> Farewell for now, >> dude. I said this in the last Mad Season video. When I watched it, I was just like, "Oh my gosh, I needed this video today." And after watching this one, I wanted to say that same thing. Like, I [45:14] needed this. This is just like much needed relief. He just like he just says all the things, man. He just says them and it's just great. Uh yeah, definitely show him some love. This was a video from like a week ago, but I was a little [45:29] from like a week ago, but I was a little late on it since I was we're doing late on it since I was we're doing tournament stuff.
