[00:01] video. Today, we're going to talk about patch 12.1, the curse of Ulatek. And in this video, we're going to go through everything that is coming in the first major patch of Midnight. And there is a lot. New [00:14] zone, new season, pray delves, housing, changes to the UI, and other minor changes as well. So, yeah, this is going to be a long one. But before we jump know that I am streaming on twitch.tv/mistergm. [00:27] 12.1 PTR, uh which is where a lot of this information for the video came stream, you can follow me at twitch.tv/mistergm. extremely soon, with the release date being August 11th in the NA region, and [00:43] August 12th in the EU, with season 2 starting on August 18th. So, hopefully BlizzCon in September, but it's going to is our first major patch of Midnight, and there's an absolute ton of content [00:57] first thing, and that is a brand new zone. This is the Coiled Isle, and this is the island off the east coast of Zul'Aman, which has been there since Kind of the worst kept secret ever, but yes, 12.1 will feature the Coiled Isle, [01:13] but that seems to be the name they've kind of landed on. Now, this zone does have two sections. It has the kind of island on the top layer, and then it has the Vault of Ulatek on the underground. So, let's start by talking about the [01:26] actual island itself. So, this works like a standard zone. There are six different chapters of the campaign to complete. Uh one of them you've probably already done in 12.0.7. This island also features 11 side quest lines, of course, [01:40] world quests, treasures, rares, and a new feature called curse surges, which are happening on the isle, which are small outdoor scenarios similar to void two different reputations. You'll have Zul'Jara's forces. This is the main [01:56] renown. This is a 20 level warbound renown with various different cosmetic rewards as you'd expect, uh, like cloaks and tabards. There's some Armani-themed core, some cosmetic shoulders. There's actually armor sets for each of the [02:10] >> [music] >> from 12.1. There's a new battle pet available, and there are three mounts. You've got the ghostly spirit of Tok'jara, the indigo coiled horror, and the violet-backed skyfang as the mounts [02:25] from Zul'jara's forces. The renown track also features zone upgrades like upgrading the gear from curse surges to veteran from adventurer and various little things like that which help you out in the zone as you'd expect from any [02:37] renown. Now, the other reputation is Tok'a fishing. So, this is a new friendship reputation. There are five levels to this with 2.5k reputation per faction, you just got to simply do the intro quest. That'll get you up a couple [02:51] intro quest, this will unlock two daily quests on the isle. One of them is a kill and collect quest, and the other is a fishing quest to bring certain fish world quest which will give you some reputation as well. This fishing rep [03:06] does have some cool rewards though. It has the sea-dwelling serpent mount. It has two venom-themed weapons. It actually has an unused green recolor of the great sword of the ebbon blade, uh, which has been in the game files forever [03:19] this fishing reputation. You could also get various fishing lures, a elemental pet, some decor, and a new fishing rod called the coiled huntress. Uh, this has effect that when you're underwater, it transforms you into a snake that grants [03:34] water breathing and swim speed. And when fishing with this special fishing rod, you build up something called venom. And then speaking to an NPC will convert the built-up venom into a currency which you can use to purchase some rewards. So, [03:47] rewards through fishing, which is pretty interesting. Now, downstairs in the zone, we have the Vault of Torghast. Now, this uses air lock tech to go times now, and it has three different entrances from the surface. Now, flying [04:01] will have to use those ground mounts you've got. The main system down here is the Altar of Corrosion. This is an account-wide zone-based talent tree. the zone to make it slightly less painful, and you can gain points by [04:16] get some points from these old draenei forces renowned that we mentioned underground zone is corrosive coins. This is a war-bound currency, and it's NPCs in the Vault. Comes from the world events that are happening and daily and [04:31] weekly quests. And as mentioned, this is used on the Altar of Corruption, but it is also used to purchase rewards in the Vault of Torghast, which, yeah, we'll alluded to there, there are world events. That's kind of the main part of [04:44] this Vault area. So, the Vault features a world event that's constantly happening, and this has three different stages. It has strikes, incursions, and then an ancient foe. Now, strikes are like small void assault-like events that [04:56] require people to complete tasks, like a small outdoor scenario. And then once the strikes have completed, an incursion will unlock. These are slightly bigger together with others within a timer. And if you manage to complete the incursion, [05:09] an ancient foe will spawn. And this is basically a mini world boss that you'll have to take down with people around you. Now, once the boss is defeated, it will restart with the strike phase, and this could be repeated forever for [05:22] nature. Also, in the Vault, there are patrols. These are just smaller solo through speaking to random NPCs around the Vault. So, yeah, just an extra bit from this downstairs area include a [05:36] complete different activities in the Vault. Every 2 weeks, this will actually give you a champion piece item. It'll give you reputation. It'll give you some of the new currency. It actually gives you a trove hunter's bounty map and some [05:48] coffee key shards as well as also giving you a tier 7 credit towards your great finally, I did mention some cosmetic rewards down here. So you have the Corsic Venom Fang mount. You have two new pets. You have a weapon arsenal you [06:01] cosmetic armor sets for each armor type and there is tons of venom themed decor down here as well. Now the final thing on the cordial is layers. So this is essentially world bosses but now instance and these are called layers. [06:16] and they're available in different difficulties, world, normal, heroic and item levels to the raid. So there are different difficulties for world bosses now and they're now instance. So essentially a one boss raid of sorts. [06:31] the venomous abyss. So this is a new raid located in the vault of Toitec, which is the downstairs area. This is an eight boss raid with the last boss being much what you'd expect of course you can expect brand new class tier sets for [06:47] each of the classes. You've also got a new mythic mount called the primeval sky friend, which is an amazing name and the last boss of course will drop a new trophy decor for each of the difficulties. So a brand new raid for [06:59] you to conquer in 12.1. We also have a new dungeon, the altar of fangs. This is a three boss dungeon which the entrance is also located in the vault of Toitec. This will be available on follower, normal, heroic, mythic and mythic plus [07:12] pretty much as you'd expect but it does have some new decor and the writhing brood mount actually drops on all of the difficulties. So another mount for you to hunt. Sticking with dungeons here of course, we have mythic plus season 2 for [07:26] midnight. This comes with a brand new dungeon pool which includes the altar of fangs, which of course is the new dungeon, murder row, den of Naralax, the from midnight. We also have the returning king's rest, ruby life pools [07:41] and the temple of Sethraliss. So yeah, that is your dungeon pool for season 2. here. If you do want to check out his quick start guides for all of those ready on his channel for the start of the season. Another minor change to [07:54] Mythic Plus is that enemy forces percentage is now actually default on the tool tip for creatures inside the dungeon. So you no longer need an add-on we have rewards for season 2. So Keystone Conqueror will give the title [08:07] The Venomous. Keystone Master will give a new mount called Breath of Blight. And Keystone Legend will give the mount Breath of Ruin. So we have some wind achievements. Finishing up the Mythic Plus section here, we also have a mount [08:22] for people who achieved 1% in Midnight Season 1. So these are the people that got the Umbral Champion achievement. The mount here is the Umbral Ashes, which is a red version of the Ashes of Belaren. So yeah, a very, very cool mount. And [08:35] this will be rewarded to everybody that achieved that at the start of patch 12.1. Moving on into delves. So we have a brand new delve season. So this includes some new delve stories for some of the existing delves, which is really [08:49] delves. We actually have three new delves. So regular delves include the Ring of Glory and Nal'drak Isle. Those are two regular delves, which will be located on the Coiled Isle. And each of these will have three stories each. Now, [09:05] we also have a Nemesis delve. This is the Venom Fall Deeps. This is also located in the Coiled Isle. And the boss is Az Trahk. Now, this comes in {question mark} {question mark} once again. If you defeat the boss on normal, [09:19] this actually gives you this very cool looking 3D wing transmog. If you defeat it on hard, you'll get the title The Poisonous. And if you solo him on the the Apothic Soul Crusher mount. And once again, just like season 1, there is a [09:32] is slightly different this time. This is actually defeating it solo on question mark question mark difficulty within the first week of this season. So, not actually uh the first 4,000 or whatever it was. It is now just within the first [09:46] week. So, this will reward the fabled vanquisher of Azterak title as well. We're also getting some updates to Valera. Her max level will now be level 80. Uh she'll also have some poisons that you can unlock as well, which works [10:00] at this point, there'll be a curio wipe with some brand new venom and serpent time themed curios for you to collect in season 2. We'll also have a new Delves journey for season 2. This will have very similar rewards that we've seen in [10:13] season 1, but it will have a new mount, the corroded soul crusher mount, which great. And gearing and Delves is not having any changes in season 2, but the item levels, of course, will be updated to those new season 2 numbers. Next up, [10:26] let's talk about Prey. Prey will have its second season in patch 12.1. So, The first thing is that the total hunts per character per week will be to 15. brand new zone with Coiled Isle, which, of course, will have brand new hunts. [10:42] hunts in total with two of them being hard and one of them being nightmare. Isle themed targets. There are four of them in total, and these will actually also appear as options in the 12 a.m. midnight zones as well. Also, for Prey, [10:58] there are some brand new affixes for hard and nightmare, which are themed to the patch. And remnants of anguish will continue to be a currency for Prey. As of PTR, it doesn't appear that this currency is resetting, but we haven't [11:10] Blizzard regarding this. So, hold fire on that. It might reset similar to moment. One of the big features for Prey in 12.1 is Curse of the Isle mode. So, this is actually a new mode that you can activate or deactivate on the Coiled [11:25] Astellor Bloodsworn once you've completed a short questline. Now, you don't need to have an active hunt to activate it, but once activated, you will be afflicted by the nightmare prey affixes. Now, once in this mode, the [11:38] skybox will change and ossified relics will spawn around the map for you to these, you can donate them to a haunted brazier on the zone, which will spawn a brand new mini-boss, Ral Calla. Now, Ral Calla isn't too hard to kill. He will [11:53] drop remnants of anguish, coffee key shards, voidlight maw, various crests, a new toy, a new pair, some decor, and you'll also have a chance at the hex you're going to get your epic mana worm [12:07] will drop early in the season for you. Otherwise, you're going to end up killing him a lot of times during season 2. Now, as you'd expect, we also have a new prey seeker's journey. This is now called the prey hunter's journey for [12:19] season 2. This has 10 levels and is very similar to season 1. There will be including the prey hunter's fury mount, which is a green recolor of the season 1 will also feature some unlocks for additional gear through delves. So, [12:36] these are afflicted and tormented soul items. So, once unlocked, these warband items will work similar to the trove hunter's bounty from delves. These will drop from tier 6 bountiful delves. However, it is not 100%. Trust me, I [12:48] know. I farmed it a lot on PTR. Now, once you get one of these items, it instantly finds your prey hunt target in nightmare prey, and you can fight them straight away. Using this item will also grant you a bonus chest once per week [13:01] been defeated. At renown 4, it will be champion with the afflicted soul item, but at renown 9, you also get a piece of character, which is, yeah, new for season 2. Beyond that, gearing through [13:14] prey will be exactly the same, with champion being the highest level you can get from actual prey hunts. Also, with pre-season 2 coming, the season 1 rewards will still be available to purchase. However, I'm not sure whether [13:26] journey to be able to unlock these. For so I'm not sure on this, unfortunately. But, you can purchase them if you also added a new weapon arsenal for all of these season one weapon appearances [13:40] for 1,600 anguish. So, yeah, fantastic. I actually stopped farming weapon appearances once I found this out. Moving on, let's talk about class changes. So, there are various class changes across the board as you'd [13:52] expect. Now, I'm not going to go through all of them here, but you can check out the patch notes in the description for the specific changes to your class. happening to pretty much every spec and class. So, yeah, definitely worth [14:04] checking out if that's your thing. Moving on into items. So, there's a few cool item things happening in 12.1. So, firstly, we are getting nebulous void returning. So, nebulous void cores will [14:17] be available as an option from the great vault from the start of season two on August 18th or August 19th, depending on your region. Now, you will start acquiring one additional void core per week starting from the eighth week of [14:29] season two. Now, the other changes they've made with this is that the cost to roll for a raid item is reduced from two down to one, which is great. And through the bonus roll system will continue to be equivalent to the great [14:42] vault reward of the specific gameplay you're doing. Speaking of the great vault, there are some changes here as well. So, LFR, normal, and heroic great vault rewards will actually jump to the first step of the next upgrade track. [14:54] For example, all heroic vault rewards will now be myth one out of six as of great vault will always be fully upgraded myth apart from very rare items and loot from the penultimate and final boss. The catalyst is also getting some [15:09] updates in 12.1. So, obviously, season one pieces will no longer cost anything to catalyze. So, some easy transmog there. The other change is that class set armor will now inherit the secondary stats from the original converted items. [15:21] changing all the stats, it is literally just going to turn the item you put in stats that it had previously. And finally, with items, the upgrade system is coming later on in season 2. This is now going to be called ascended venom [15:35] same as it does right now, but will also work on necklaces as well. Moving on into PvP, we have some PvP updates in season 2. So, the first thing is arena extension of the training ground system [15:49] with players versus bots, and this is going to be a 3v3 arena scenario. The available maps for this are the grand, hook point, ruins of Lordaeron, and Tol'virian. And doing this actually does reward honor and conquest. So, yeah, [16:01] training grounds for arenas. Speaking of arenas, the Blades' Edge arena is returning to the map rotation. So, yeah, there you go. Also, for season 2, reduce win trading and queue manipulation. So, it says that now when [16:14] a player misses a solo shuffle or battleground blitz queue, a 1-minute debuff prevents further queueing. This debuff will stack for consecutive miss queues within a window of time and is actually account-wide. So, hopefully [16:27] 2, we do have some new mounts, of course. We have the vicious lightbloom boar for the Alliance and for the Horde. And the gladiator mount for Midnight season 2 is the venomous gladiator's Gore Drake, which is a pretty awesome [16:43] recolor of the season 1 mount. Next up, let's take a look at some housing updates in 12.1. So, there's some pretty good stuff here. So, firstly, you have pet beds. So, pet beds are new to core item which allows you to show off your [16:55] companion pets on the inside and outside of your house. Now, as of 12.1, there are 11 different designs of pet bed and these are purchased from the neighborhood. The current cap is that you can have 100 pets inside and 25 pets [17:08] outside. And you can set these to either stationary, where they stay on the decor item, or roaming, where they can roam around your house and have collision However, as of right now, the outdoor pets can only be stationary, but maybe [17:22] future. Uh there is also a small amount of pets which are unavailable, uh and various reasons, so yeah. But, the majority of the pets will be available for your house. Another huge feature for housing is import and export, and the [17:36] housing in World of Warcraft is called blueprints. So, blueprint codes are generated when exporting your house, and these can be shared across region, excluding China, with other players for them to import into their player house. [17:51] entire house, which of course includes the inside and outside, or you could do the interior only or just the exterior. However, this is restricted to specific neighborhoods, so an Alliance exterior can't be imported into the Horde [18:04] exterior and vice versa, or you can import export a single room if you really wanted to. Now, players will also have up to 50 save slots for their different layouts, as well as 10 additional ones for auto saves. Now, [18:18] auto saves are generated automatically when importing, so if you import and instantly revert back to where you were before. So, kind of an undo feature, which is great. They've also added a full reset button that will reset your [18:30] exterior if you do want to start from scratch. Now, when importing, if you don't have the correct decor, it will just leave gaps on the build, so make required. The game does give you a full [18:43] import, though. And finally, on blueprints, there is a new house permission called export that defaults to nobody. Essentially, if you turn this export your design and import it into their own house. But, as mentioned, this [18:56] new house levels going up all the way to level 12. Level 12 will increase the level 12. Level 12 will increase the interior decor budget to 5,975, interior decor budget to 5,975, and the room placement budget up to 134. [19:09] Level 12 will also unlock large house exteriors for the racial houses for both of the neighborhoods. Also in 12 one you'll be able to move the entryway to you to create basements. We're also getting two brand new house exteriors in [19:23] 12 one. These are the autumnal Westfall Barn and the springtime Westfall Barn. are encrypted on the PTR, so we can't see them, but we will see them once the purchase these from the general contractor in your neighborhood for 200 [19:38] community coupons each. There's also an overhaul to the dye system, so dye crafting is now being streamlined, which has considerably freed up bag space. condensed all of the specific dyes into single colors, so black, blue, brown, [19:52] green, orange, purple, red, white, and yellow. So, for example, the red housing dye will now include all of the versions of the red dyes. They've also added 50 new dye colors as well. 12 one also brings a bunch of brand new decor, [20:05] including some new basic items from the neighborhood, including stairs, wall tiles, and wooden columns. There's also new decor from professions, the new zone, delves, the season two dungeons, and of course the new raid. Housing in [20:18] 12 one also brings in artisan rooms, so these are essentially pre-built housing rooms that you can place decor in. These are purchased for community coupons and there's a bunch of different themed rooms. You have Bellamoth themed rooms, [20:30] Stormwind themed rooms, Orgrimmar themed rooms, and Silvermoon themed rooms. And these are account-wide unlocks and can be used on the Alliance or Horde houses as many times as you like. You basically just got to unlock them once. And [20:43] four new endeavors. These include the Amani trolls, which will likely be the endeavor that everyone does on 12 one. And we also have an endeavor for the Kobolds, the Un'goro and Centaur, and the Tortollan. And of course, as you'd [20:56] different things to do around your neighborhood with brand new rewards for each of them as well. Moving on completely into something very cool, and that is Discord integration. So, in 12.1, you can actually link your guild [21:09] chat to a specific channel in a Discord server. This will relay your messages from the guild chat into that channel from in game or vice versa. So, if you guild chat. Now, you can choose your display name to your last online [21:23] character name or your Discord name. Now, the one downside to the Discord integration is that everyone has to link their Discord, otherwise some of the yeah, make sure everyone's linking their Discord when 12.1 comes in so you can [21:36] chat on the go through Discord and guild chat. We also have a bunch of UI updates in 12.1. These include a new loading screen for Quel'Thalas. This is the getting updated for Silvermoon, Eversong, Zul'Aman, and the Coiled Isle. [21:50] well and has been organized into neat little drop-downs for each type of feature. So, hopefully that'll help out with organization. The cooldown updates in 12.1. So, it'll now track trinkets and potions. They've added a [22:05] new category of short sounds to use for the cooldown manager. Sounds from the used for the combat audio assist accessibility feature. And racial ability cooldowns and durations can now be tracked with the cooldown manager. [22:19] For raid frames, buff and debuff icons displayed on the raid and party frames can now have independent sizes and border scales. And healers can now assign visual alerts to specific group buff spells through the group buff [22:32] filter UI. The ping system's also getting some updates. You'll now be able the cooldown manager. You can now ping certain items. You can ping your player resources such as health and that'll post it as a chat bubble. Ping icons now [22:45] show on certain unit frames, so target, focus, and raid when that unit is pinged. And the ping system now has a new option to target the environment only, units only, or both. For nameplates, they've added new options in [22:57] the friendly nameplate settings to show only the name, use class colors for names, or hide the realm name. With edit mode in 12.1, you'll be able to move the raid warnings and the loss of control display can now be moved as well. And [23:10] the raid and party frames now support frame size settings that have been available for other unit frames. So, these frames can now be scaled up to 100%. Other UI changes include a change to the auction house where the filters [23:22] you set will now be persistent across your play sessions. The auto loot yeah, fantastic. [music] In the group finder, the refresh button will no button. They've actually added a back button to the achievement panel as well. [23:37] press the back button and take you back to where you were. Now, the friends list has also been redesigned in 12.1. They've made it quite a bit larger using a more modern-looking UI. You can actually set friends to different tags [23:50] as well and filter those tags. And this is a redesign that's gone across all recent allies and the raid frames and things like that. 12.1 also brings in native world map coordinates. So, the world map will now show map coordinates [24:04] for the player and the cursor. Now, when you shift-click a map pin, it'll also clipboard. And the slash command for this is slash map pin, and that'll give you the map UI ID and the coordinates that you've selected. And that could be [24:19] in chat to create a pin and open your map to it. The final UI change is actually an accessibility change. They've actually added a screen narrator feature to the login screen. is a new accessibility option to read out loud [24:32] the UI elements when mousing over it or clicking. Uh, you could choose between two different text-to-speech voices, and you can adjust the speed and volume of this setting as well. Also, in 12.1, we are getting two brand-new warband camp [24:45] screens. We're getting Silvermoon City and Silvermoon in Void. Now, to unlock these, you need to obtain four items from weekly quests. It is going to take eight weeks in total to unlock both of these, but you just need to do the main [24:58] and eventually you will be able to unlock both of these brand new warband camps. Moving on into transmog updates, so as of 12.1, ranged weapons including bows, crossbows, and guns can now use a variety of illusions for transmog. So, [25:14] yes, you can finally add enchant illusions to your ranged weapons as a hunter. Also in 12.1, the mage tower challenges are retroactively getting the be the first time we're seeing this retroactively added and it is really [25:28] cool to see cuz obviously boss add-ons were no longer working for those fights. definitely does help a lot and that is coming for all of the mage tower challenges in 12.1. So, one change in 12.1 I didn't expect is that void [25:41] assaults are actually getting updated. This includes ritual sites and the new mini zones. So, for ritual sites, they will still be kind of relevant in 12.1. season 2 item levels and they will still contribute to the great vault, but at a [25:55] lower tier. Now, as of season 2, they will drop void light maw, field accolades, adventurer crest, veteran crest, and coffer key shards. Now, the updated and they will now sell adventurer warband gear chests for 200 [26:11] field accolades and they will also sell veteran gear chests which are BOP for veteran gear chests which are BOP for 750 accolades each. Unfortunately, 12.1 field accolades will not be warbound, but it doesn't look like they are being [26:23] reset. So, you can save those up right now. As for the two new mini zones, Val and Megatool, they will still rotate weekly, but the loot drops have been heroic world tier, they will drop adventurer gear and crest. However, [26:36] heroic world tier will drop a higher upgraded item of adventurer. The world boss in each of the zones will drop adventurer in normal and veteran gear in heroic. So, maybe it's relevant for super early season gearing. Also getting [26:49] a a of zone updates. There is actually a new quest line in the Arcanutina for 12.1 and the Armani pass between Eversong Woods and Zul'Aman will no longer dismount you when you're passing through it. So, a great change. Also in [27:02] 12.1, the Earthen race are getting some updates. So, the base line experience gained from exploring zones has been reduced by 60% and the experience gained from exploring low-level zones is no longer reduced from base line and the [27:15] effectiveness of well-fed gained from ingest minerals is increased by 30%. So, exploring, it might not be as viable anymore. And finally for 12.1, let's [27:27] talk about Decore Dools. So, Decore Dools are going away in 12.1. Yes, the feature is done for now at least. Now, the cosmetic rewards will become currency. However, the Decore rewards will be sold for Voidlight Mall as of [27:42] 12.1. So, Decore Dools is going on hiatus. So, there you go, guys. That is patch 12.1, The Curse of Ulatek. Let me know in the comments your thoughts on this patch. There is a lot here. This might be maybe my longest everything [27:55] hopefully you enjoyed it. Hopefully we covered enough. I will be doing specific videos on features like pray, delves, housing, the zone and everything like of course than we have in this. So, keep an eye out for those.
