[00:00] Welcome to The Long Game, where we're helping you prep, plan, and make strategic choices to set you up for late-game success. Today, we're heading to the city of Daxion with Fire Emblem, Fortune's Weave. Gotta keep getting stronger. Leveling up your units is the only way to win the heroic games at the heart of Fortune's Weave, [00:15] and the most obvious method is winning battles. But this Fire Emblem game also offers some crucial ways to rank up when you're not in combat. We've got four of them to focus on in this video, and although you'll be seeing a lot of Kai's story here, these tips apply no matter which hero you choose at the beginning of the game. [00:30] Presented by Charles Schwab. Learn more at Schwab.com. The more your teammates get along, the better they'll perform. This is measured by support levels. Attacking from an adjacent square or talking during a fight will raise them. [00:44] Note the little heart icon that pops up. But outside of battle, you can also give your friends gifts once per week. Simply talk to them in the city and you'll get the option. Just remember to check their interests so that you know which gifts they'll like. You'll get gifts as loot throughout the game, [00:56] but you can also purchase more from the market vendor in the middle of Daxion. Another option is to hold a feast on the world map That will boost the support of everyone in the whole party You can also choose characters to train together in the arena or serve together in temples to increase their support level [01:09] Higher support levels unlock special scenes between characters that you can't see otherwise, adding more depth to the story. Additionally, the bonded characters will gain passive bonuses while standing in adjacent squares on the battlefield, things like better attack and dodge chances. [01:21] Each of the four main protagonists also has a stat called Renown. This is a measure of how well you're known in Daxian. There are many benefits to raising your renown, along with different methods to do so. Visiting gods in their temples works, as does defeating enemies on the world map. [01:34] But one universal method is to complete quests. As you're exploring Daxion, you'll notice these pins on the map. They mark the quest givers. There are a variety of quest objectives out there, but the concept is the same. Use the time between your big battles to travel the world map and complete those quests. [01:48] You'll receive both gold and renown for each one you tick off. Kai's Path, as featured in this video, includes additional kindness quests to complete, while other protagonists have their own unique mechanics. Leta, for example, can perform dances that earn a whole bunch of renown at once. [02:00] In all cases a higher renown level lets you pass certain checkpoints on the world map so don be discouraged if you find a locked path while wandering That just means it meant for later Meanwhile each new renowned level brings perks like advanced character class opportunities a bigger meal menu at the end and more mentorship lessons for your troops which makes them [02:15] tougher and raise their support levels. Let's leave it there for today. You can improve your characters in Fortune's Weave, and you can also improve their weapons. For that, you need materials. Inside dungeons, you'll see boxes and barrels with gold sparkles. [02:27] This means they're holding an item, so bust them up to collect stones and other goodies. Some dungeons also have crystal deposits that you can smash in the same way to get guaranteed smithing materials. While exploring the world map, you can use the search command to loot certain locations, [02:39] and if you're looking to quickly move the calendar ahead to the next story beat, you can always send out your troops to collect materials or even earn XP with the auto-activities option at the end. Once you reach Chapter 6, the blacksmith will arrive in Daxium. Then you'll be able to pay him a visit and either repair or refine your weapons. [02:54] Note that refining fully restores a weapon's durability in addition to improving its power, so when you can afford it, that's the better option. Finally, you'll want to expand your roster by recruiting new characters. Your starting squad won't be enough as the game goes on. [03:06] Recruitable characters appear as orange dots on the map then green dots once you spoken to them Recruiting brings together a lot of the things we already talked about You need a high enough support level renown level or both to get them to join you Again don be discouraged if they require high numbers [03:19] They vary across each of the four main stories. Depending on which character you chose, you're meant to recruit new fighters in a different order than on another hero's path. We've already talked about raising renown, but you can increase your support levels with recruits [03:31] by giving them gifts once a week as well. They can also be invited to meals at the end before they've joined your team. Everyone around the table will get a boost to their support points at mealtime. A vivid and memorable meal.
