[0:14] ever asks you what your favorite Shonen
[0:16] of all time is there's a fair to good
[0:18] chance that the Shonen that you do
[0:20] mention has a pretty intense and
[0:22] involved power system and that's not
[0:24] because Powers need to be complicated
[0:27] but rather because having a
[0:28] comprehensive flesh out and easy to
[0:31] understand power system builds out the
[0:33] world around the characters living in it
[0:35] if we with the existing knowledge that
[0:37] we have of the power system that we're
[0:38] engaging in in this universe are able to
[0:40] point at something that somebody is
[0:42] doing and explain how they're doing it
[0:44] exactly not only is that satisfying for
[0:46] the reader but also it means that we
[0:48] understand the universe we're engaging
[0:50] with fundamentally but not every anime
[0:53] got the news about this as some anime
[0:55] simply introduce powers and people with
[0:58] them and never necessarily Explain how
[1:00] they got them while some anime triy to
[1:01] introduce a complicated power system
[1:03] stick to their rules for a little bit
[1:04] and then forget what those rules were
[1:05] somewhere down the line and while
[1:07] technically neither of these scenarios
[1:09] make a bad anime per se I have a lot
[1:11] more respect for an anime or Manga world
[1:13] that's able to make a codex of rules
[1:15] about something that doesn't exist that
[1:16] people can understand and study like
[1:18] it's a college level course which is why
[1:20] today I want to talk to you about the
[1:22] greatest anime Power Systems in

[3:43] complexity how many layers is there to
[3:45] this power system do people just have
[3:47] powers because they're born with them
[3:48] can people awaken to the powers can they
[3:50] use different powers based off the
[3:51] personalities so on and so forth the
[3:53] second rule is Rule following after this
[3:56] universe establishes the rules of its
[3:58] power system do they stick to those
[4:00] rules and the third rule is going to be
[4:02] ease of understanding how good of a job
[4:04] does this universe do at explaining its
[4:06] own power system we're going to be
[4:08] ranking each of these Power Systems from
[4:09] 1 to 10 on those three criteria and
[4:11] their combined scores are going to add
[4:13] up to give us our ranking so I'm going
[4:14] to try to make this video as fair and as
[4:17] well calculated as possible you know in
[4:19] the most power system way possible it's
[4:22] also important to note here that even if
[4:24] a power system is towards the bottom of
[4:26] our list that doesn't mean it's a bad
[4:28] power system we're talking about the top
[4:30] 10 greatest Power Systems in anime while
[4:33] being the 10th greatest power system is
[4:34] definitely not as good as being the
[4:35] first greatest power system neither of
[4:37] those things are bad to put your
[4:39] pitchforks away now the reason I'm
[4:41] saying that right here and now is
[4:43] because coming in last place at number
[4:45] 10
[4:46] is cursed energy I know I know I'm sorry
[4:49] don't hit me but listen there was
[4:50] absolutely a time in my life when I
[4:52] believe the cursed energy had the
[4:53] capacity to be the greatest power system
[4:55] of all time and fundamentally for like a
[4:57] half to 2/3 of jjk it did have that
[5:00] potential in fact curs energy is one of
[5:03] two Power Systems on this list that got
[5:05] a 10 in complexity because cursed energy
[5:07] is wildly complex and hugely
[5:10] individualistic there is no set way that
[5:13] cursed energy is supposed to be used the
[5:15] zenian are able to summon shikigami Joo
[5:18] is able to boil entire cities Gojo can
[5:21] teleport with his blue push things away
[5:22] with his red combine them and make
[5:24] purple and vaporize entire mountains and
[5:26] almost all of this is built up on a
[5:29] robust
[5:30] complex and usually pretty well
[5:32] explained power system however
[5:34] unfortunately the closer the jjk got to
[5:36] its ending the less and less curs energy
[5:39] made sense whether it be Yugi's domain
[5:41] expansion never really being explained
[5:44] sua spamming binding vow after binding
[5:46] vow with really no consequences or
[5:49] techniques being used at the end of the
[5:51] story seeming way weaker than they were
[5:52] when they were used earlier in the story
[5:54] for reasons that didn't really make a
[5:55] whole lot of sense and unfortunately
[5:57] that was kind of the double-edged sword
[5:58] of cursed energy while it was wildly
[6:01] complex and built on this gorgeous well
[6:03] fleshed out power system unfortunately
[6:05] his time constraints and pressure
[6:06] started to push G down a lot of that
[6:09] complexity was thrown to the side for
[6:11] convenience and while in anime where the
[6:13] power system is not incredibly
[6:15] complicated like mha or chainsaw man
[6:17] those changes may not be as easily
[6:19] noticeable because after all they're
[6:21] just born with these abilities who's to
[6:22] say whether or not they can get stronger
[6:24] or weaker do whatever they're doing only
[6:26] have a complex college level power
[6:27] system that people spend hours studying
[6:30] when things start to not line up with
[6:31] what we know it feels lazy and because
[6:34] that in the rule following category
[6:36] cursed energy only gets a three out of
[6:38] 10 on top of that cursed energy is also
[6:40] tied for last in the ease of
[6:42] understanding category oh Nick what do
[6:44] you mean I understand cursed energy
[6:46] perfectly that's great I'm so happy for
[6:48] you take it for somebody who spent
[6:49] literal years making their job being
[6:52] explaining jjk and cursed energy the
[6:55] majority of people who read jjk needed
[6:57] videos like mine to understand what was
[6:59] going on people like me who would reread
[7:01] the chapters multiple times Google do
[7:04] research to explain things like haki's
[7:06] domain expansion kirara's curse
[7:08] technique how UT was able to switch into
[7:10] Gojo's body how he was able to maintain
[7:13] a bearer even after his body collapsed
[7:15] what was going on with yuji's domain
[7:16] expansion how he was able to use
[7:17] dismantle on the barrier between megamy
[7:19] and sua souls well yes of course you
[7:23] understood curs energy a lot of people
[7:25] didn't and that wasn't their fault
[7:27] because it wasn't that well EXP
[7:29] explained and when it was well explained
[7:31] a lot of the rules that were well
[7:32] explained eventually got broken and
[7:34] those who did understand the power
[7:35] system got frustrated with the power
[7:37] system by the end of the story because
[7:39] every rule they had Learned was being
[7:41] broken simply because sukeno was making
[7:43] a binding vow that he wouldn't eat ice
[7:44] creams on Tuesdays for all years that
[7:47] end in eight so cursed energy out of a
[7:49] possible score of 30 gets a 19 and our
[7:52] 10 spot coming up next in our nine spot
[7:55] is something that's going to be slightly
[7:56] controversial considering the fact that
[7:57] I just said cursed energy is our 10 spot
[8:00] but whatever it's currently barreling
[8:01] its way towards being a better manga
[8:03] than jjk so in the number nine spot we
[8:06] have devil powers from chainsaw man but
[8:08] the devil powers are so incredibly
[8:10] uncomplex how could you put that over
[8:11] the complexity of jjk well you're right
[8:14] in terms of complexity devil powers only
[8:16] get a three out of 10 devil powers are
[8:18] incredibly straightforward in the
[8:20] chainsaw man world you fall into four
[8:22] categories of power users you are either
[8:25] a hybrid like denji a fiend like power a
[8:28] human with contract like oie or a devil
[8:33] like I I don't want to say the fourth
[8:35] one like the Tomato de we'll go with the
[8:37] Tomato devil and that's established very
[8:39] early on in the story and it still
[8:41] hasn't fundamentally changed even now
[8:43] hybrids are the strongest because
[8:45] they're regeneration ability then goes
[8:46] regular devils and then goes fiends then
[8:48] goes humans with contracts if you want
[8:50] to contract with a powerful devil you
[8:52] have to give up a lot to that devil
[8:53] depending on what you're willing to give
[8:54] up to that devil you can summon them at
[8:56] an even greater strength like the
[8:57] difference between giving up a
[8:58] fingernail and and your heart is
[9:00] exponential in terms of devil strength
[9:02] fiends have a basic regeneration ability
[9:04] like hybrids but they're not immortal
[9:05] like hybrids and Devils when they die go
[9:07] to hell and if they die in hell they
[9:09] come back to earth Devils that look more
[9:11] like humans tend to be more sympathetic
[9:12] towards humans and that's basically
[9:15] everything so complexity in terms of
[9:16] power system is not necessarily chainsaw
[9:18] man's strength but that's not
[9:19] necessarily a bad thing if there's one
[9:21] category you can have a low score in I
[9:22] feel as though complexity is the best
[9:24] one to have there's nothing wrong with a
[9:26] non-c complex power system so long as
[9:28] it's done well and Chainsaw man's devil
[9:30] power power system is done pretty well
[9:32] from a rule following perspective I gave
[9:34] chainsaw man's devil power a seven out
[9:36] of 10 and the only real reason that
[9:38] Chains man is getting docked any points
[9:39] in this category is because there's a
[9:41] couple of unknowns that exist in the
[9:42] manga right now that may or may not
[9:44] break some rules like right now without
[9:46] any spoilers technically cloning is a
[9:49] possibility and we may be able to clone
[9:50] not only Devils but also humans now what
[9:52] would this mean if one of the Clones
[9:54] dies does that clone sentience go to
[9:56] hell if it's a devil or is this cloning
[9:58] ability a devil power on top of this
[10:00] there's been a couple of moments that
[10:01] have mucked up a couple of the rules
[10:02] that have been introduced like Primal
[10:04] Devils having ridiculous powers that may
[10:06] or may not have anything to do with the
[10:07] ideas that they're based off on top of
[10:09] this devils are created from very
[10:11] abstract ideations the blood devil is
[10:13] one of the highest ranking devils in all
[10:14] of Chainsaw man not because a ton of
[10:16] people are afraid of blood but more
[10:18] because in specific circumstances
[10:20] everybody is afraid of blood like I
[10:22] personally am not afraid of blood but if
[10:24] I was bleeding out I would be afraid of
[10:26] blood in that moment and thus Devils can
[10:28] either really be explained to be be as
[10:29] powerful as they need to be or as weak
[10:31] as they need to be but a seven in terms
[10:32] of rule following isn't all that bad
[10:34] it's just hard to say that the rules are
[10:36] being followed when the rules themselves
[10:37] are very vague in a very basic power
[10:40] system however in terms of ease of
[10:41] understanding chainsaw man gets a 10
[10:43] it'd be hard pressed to find anybody
[10:45] who's confused by the power system of
[10:46] Chainsaw man yes some moments in
[10:48] chainsaw man especially recently have
[10:49] been a little bit perplexing but
[10:51] fundamentally that doesn't have much to
[10:52] do with the power system so chainsaw man
[10:54] gets a 20 out of possible 30 up next at
[10:57] number eight we have to also known as
[10:59] the power system of Hell's Paradise now
[11:01] to those of you who are anime only for
[11:03] hell's Paradise to may not seem all that
[11:05] complicated it's kind of like
[11:08] chakra right
[11:10] now not at all outside of the fact that
[11:13] too in the hell's Paradise universe is a
[11:15] life force like chakra is life force in
[11:17] the Naruto Universe there are basically
[11:19] no similarities well that's not true to
[11:21] is also Elemental and certain elements
[11:23] are strong against other elements like
[11:25] they are in the Naruto Universe however
[11:27] that is where the similarities end see
[11:29] to is sneaky one of the most complex
[11:31] Power Systems in all of anime in fact in
[11:33] terms of complexity it's tied for second
[11:36] on this list with nine out of 10 points
[11:38] but why what makes TAA so incredibly
[11:41] complicated well the fundaments of taao
[11:42] are confusing to begin with see because
[11:44] well chakra is a life force that runs
[11:46] through everyone's body in the Naruto
[11:48] universe and Tao is much the same as
[11:51] it's the source of everything in the
[11:52] hell's Paradise Universe the control of
[11:54] Tao was actually much more complicated
[11:56] than the control of chakra yes they both
[11:59] have circulatory systems yes you can run
[12:01] out of both and that has a deadly effect
[12:03] but the fundament of taao is based in
[12:04] the concept of Yin yangang and the idea
[12:07] of following an ancient Buddhist
[12:08] ideology of following the middle way see
[12:11] Buddhism like a lot of other religions
[12:12] is not a religion that tells you to
[12:13] strip yourself from all worldly
[12:15] pleasures Buddhism instead preaches the
[12:17] idea of following the middle way don't
[12:20] live in excess but also don't strip
[12:22] yourself from everything you enjoy and
[12:24] thus to becomes its strongest in the
[12:25] hell's Paradise Universe when somebody
[12:27] is able to acknowledge the good and the
[12:30] bad of all of the things in their life
[12:32] when somebody is able to acknowledge the
[12:33] dark and the light Stillness and motion
[12:36] However unfortunately acknowledging the
[12:37] middle way is kind of different for
[12:39] every single person if you get angry
[12:42] without love also being in your heart
[12:44] your towel goes out of whack and these
[12:46] emotional spikes or physical
[12:47] acknowledgements from every single one
[12:49] of these characters who's trying to
[12:50] strengthen their towel can get a bit
[12:51] complicated sometimes and on top of that
[12:53] tow has five elements and each of those
[12:55] five elements strengthens another
[12:57] element and weakens another so you can
[12:58] use your to if you have the right
[13:00] Elemental mixing to strengthen somebody
[13:02] or sap all of their towel out of their
[13:04] body but there's also tow currents and
[13:05] flower tow that allows for regeneration
[13:07] and hybridization if flower towel gets
[13:09] into a human body and they're able to
[13:11] battle against the arbor ification you
[13:13] can sense with tow you can enhance your
[13:14] body with tow you can suppress your
[13:16] presence with to you can fire tow
[13:18] bullets you can make Elemental attacks
[13:19] like lightning you can heal people from
[13:21] a distance you can restore broken things
[13:23] you can Crush people using telekinesis
[13:26] you can make Illusions you can clone
[13:27] yourself you can do BAS basically
[13:29] whatever you want with Tao like Ninjutsu
[13:33] yeah Ninjutsu exists in the hell's
[13:35] Paradise universe and thus because
[13:36] basically anything is accomplishable
[13:38] with to it gets a nine out of 10 in
[13:40] terms of complexity however in the
[13:42] categorization of rule
[13:43] following it only gets a five see
[13:46] because well Tao is a wildly complex
[13:48] power system it's only really complex in
[13:50] what it can accomplish see because well
[13:52] Tao can accomplish basically anything
[13:53] you ever wanted to it's very rarely
[13:55] explained why in minute details why
[13:58] certain people are able to accomplish
[13:59] certain things with their towel why can
[14:01] ran clone herself using flower towel
[14:03] when other people can't how are some
[14:05] people able to create illusions with
[14:06] their towel when other people can't what
[14:08] aspect of to allows for psychokinesis
[14:10] and so on and so forth in the hell's
[14:12] Paradise Universe when things happen
[14:14] they're usually just explained as oh
[14:16] that's to and thus too in the hell's
[14:18] Paradise Universe kind of becomes a fix
[14:20] all you want something to happen well to
[14:22] can make it happen and because of that
[14:24] to's not that hard to understand but its
[14:26] complexity with lack of understanding
[14:28] can leave people scratching their heads
[14:30] so in terms of ease of understanding ta
[14:32] gets a seven out of 10 leaving it with a
[14:35] 21 out of 30 score up next after to we
[14:38] have one of the least complex Power
[14:39] Systems in all of modern day shown in
[14:41] because coming up at number seven we
[14:43] have quirks see quirks in the my hero
[14:45] Academia Universe are not complex you're
[14:47] either born of them or you're not the
[14:49] only complexity that gets injected into
[14:51] the my hero Academia Quirk system is all
[14:53] for one and one for all and thus just
[14:55] like with devil powers from chainsaw man
[14:57] quirks get a three out of 10 in in terms
[14:59] of complexity because well yes some
[15:01] complexity is injected through all for
[15:02] one and one for all the cork systems of
[15:04] mha doesn't have other complex throwin
[15:07] like hybrids fiends and Devils who can
[15:09] reincarnate between hell and Earth and
[15:12] fundamentally The Quirk system in mha
[15:13] even though non-complex is a really good
[15:16] power system 80% of the population are
[15:18] born with quirks those quirks can vary
[15:20] in terms of power depending on the
[15:22] quirks of your parents some people are
[15:23] heteromorphs some people aren't born
[15:24] with quirks and some people are born as
[15:26] living squeezy bottles however where mhh
[15:28] Rel shines is showing how people with
[15:30] relatively mundane quirks achieve Great
[15:32] Heights of power like Sarah with his
[15:34] tape arms a quirk that allows him to
[15:36] shoot tape out of his elbows effectively
[15:38] becoming mha Spider-Man and because the
[15:40] rules of The mha Quirk system are pretty
[15:42] straightforward mha does a really good
[15:44] job of following the rules that it sets
[15:46] for itself and thus in terms of rule
[15:48] following it gets a nine out of 10 now I
[15:50] would give the cork system make 10 out
[15:51] of 10 in terms of rule following but in
[15:53] a system where anybody can kind of do
[15:55] whatever they want because it's the
[15:56] ability that they're born with giving
[15:58] that system but 10 out of 10 in terms of
[16:00] rule following doesn't feel that genuine
[16:02] to me because what do you mean invisible
[16:04] girl can now redirect lasers through her
[16:06] body I have no leg to stand on to say
[16:08] that she can't do that because it's her
[16:10] superpower that she was born with but
[16:11] there's a lot of situations like that in
[16:13] mha where characters are born with an
[16:15] ability that we're told works one way
[16:17] then as that character trains and gets
[16:18] stronger their ability Works in a new
[16:20] more interesting more powerful way and
[16:23] there's really no way to dispute that
[16:24] because it's just who they are the best
[16:26] example of this is somebody like sun
[16:28] eater a character was introduced as
[16:29] being able to turn his hand into clams
[16:31] if he ate clam chowder who was
[16:33] eventually able to eat neer's energy and
[16:35] turn his arm into a gigantic energy rail
[16:37] gun I can't say he can't do that because
[16:40] there he is eating neer's energy but to
[16:42] give a universe that has that kind of
[16:43] leniency a 10 out of 10 in terms of rule
[16:45] following to me does it feel right but I
[16:47] will give mha a 10 out of 10 in terms of
[16:49] ease of understanding because yeah you
[16:51] can sit there and you can watch Sun
[16:53] eater eat neer's energy and go oh I
[16:55] guess he can eat energy now oh his arm's
[16:57] a cannon I guess that makes sense it's
[16:59] his Quirk after all I can watch
[17:00] Hiroshima bash himself into harder
[17:02] objects to make his body harder because
[17:04] yeah if you micr fracture bones they get
[17:06] harder and that's how his Quirk works I
[17:08] can now watch Momo be able to print an
[17:09] entire rail gun from her non-reserve of
[17:12] fat because yeah she made a bunch of
[17:14] Russian dolls earlier and even the
[17:16] complicated quirks in the mha universe
[17:18] like all for one and one for all are
[17:20] both just essentially stockpiling quirks
[17:22] yeah deu shigaraki and all for one all
[17:24] have multiple quirks that's why they're
[17:26] powerful cool got it thus CH Quirk
[17:29] system gets a 22 out of 30 up next after

[17:34] pyrokinesis from fire force now
[17:36] pyrokinesis is a sneaky complex power
[17:39] system what seemed like originally to
[17:41] just be oh I have fire out of my hands
[17:43] oh I have fire out of my feet oh I have
[17:45] fire in a sword became really anything
[17:47] but that by the end of fire force but
[17:49] it's definitely not the most complex
[17:51] power system of all time and thus
[17:52] pyrokinesis is getting a 6 out of 10 in
[17:55] terms of complexity now this is Garner
[17:56] off the fact that there are multiple
[17:57] kinds of Power people in the fire force
[18:00] Universe there are second Generations
[18:02] like Maki who have the ability to
[18:03] control existing fires third Generations
[18:06] like Arthur and Shinra who have the
[18:08] ability to create their own fire and
[18:10] manipulate it there are hybrid second
[18:12] third Generations like Benny Maru who
[18:14] have the strength of flame control of
[18:15] second Generations but their own
[18:17] ignition ability but there is also
[18:19] fourth generation pyrokinetics like show
[18:21] and Shinra individuals who have awakened
[18:24] an adola burst by making an adola Lake
[18:26] by receiving an adola Grace from either
[18:28] the angelist or the woman in black and
[18:30] these four generations have pyrokinetic
[18:32] abilities that blow other pyrokinetic
[18:34] abilities out of the water whether it be
[18:36] freezing the entire universe to stop the
[18:38] movement of time or breaking their body
[18:39] down into subatomic particles so they
[18:41] can travel faster than the speed of
[18:42] light adola links in just the adola in
[18:44] general is what makes his power system a
[18:46] lot more complex than it seems at a
[18:48] surface level however on top of all of
[18:49] this Flames can be used in a myriad of
[18:51] ways in the fire force Universe they can
[18:53] be used to create plasma swords or to
[18:55] buff your abilities like aaki to create
[18:57] flame missiles or flame chain guns like
[19:00] takaro can be turned into electrical
[19:01] signals like with haa or even can be
[19:03] channeled through a buffing whistle that
[19:05] allows for ponco poot to buff someone's
[19:07] flame resistance hell Flames can even be
[19:09] channeled into the redirection of
[19:11] kinetic energy and thus will parakinesis
[19:13] is by far in away not the most complex
[19:15] power system on this list it definitely
[19:16] deserves its flowers however because
[19:18] these pyrro kinetic abilities can be
[19:20] channeled into pretty much anything the
[19:22] rule following category of fire force
[19:23] only gets an eight out of 10 because in
[19:25] a universe that did start off with only
[19:27] second generation and third generation
[19:29] pyrro kinetics who have the ability to
[19:31] either control Flame or create flame
[19:33] evolving into a universe where people
[19:34] can buff each other with whistles or
[19:35] turn their smoke into kunai doesn't

[19:52] involve the Evangelist and the adola and

[19:55] tied into the power system of fire force
[19:58] really well and thus for an ease of
[20:00] understanding score fire force is going
[20:01] to get a 9 out of 10 giving it a 23 out

[20:09] people probably aren't going to enjoy

[20:14] Alchemy Alchemy is not that complex of a
[20:16] power system or at least it's not as
[20:18] complex as people want you to believe
[20:19] that it is however whenever you want to
[20:21] describe Alchemy to somebody you have to
[20:23] use some big words like the Law of
[20:24] Equivalent Exchange and thus everyone
[20:26] believes oh wow this must be a crazy
[20:28] complicated power system but it's really
[20:30] not yes the deeper you delve into
[20:32] Alchemy the more complicated it's going
[20:34] to see but fundamentally there's really
[20:36] only two rules in alchemy The Law of
[20:38] Equivalent Exchange which states that
[20:39] you can't make something out of nothing
[20:41] something has to be converted into
[20:42] something else and secondly the law of
[20:45] natural province which states that you
[20:46] can only turn something like this metal
[20:48] here into let's say a different kind of
[20:50] metal if it has the key ingredients that
[20:53] make up that other kind of metal I can't
[20:55] turn fudge into a hydrogen bomb because
[20:58] there isn't in the components to make a
[20:59] hydrogen bomb in fudge now yes there are
[21:02] different transmutation circles and yes
[21:04] in the 2003 anime there was things
[21:07] called transmutation arrays and Alchemy
[21:09] allows for the creation of things like
[21:11] homunculus and allows for you to bind
[21:13] human souls to suits of armor and the
[21:15] secret of the power of alchemy is that
[21:17] father is pumping his energy up into
[21:19] aestria well alcahest which comes from a
[21:22] different country Taps into the chi of
[21:23] the world which is why it's more often
[21:25] used in healing than deconstruction and
[21:27] reconstruction when it boils down to it
[21:29] Alchemy is a pretty simple power system
[21:32] you take something and if it's heavy
[21:33] enough and has a similar enough chemical

[21:39] do really whatever you want and thus
[21:40] Alchemy from Full Metal Alchemists gets
[21:42] a six out of 10 in terms of complexity
[21:44] or Alchemy truly shines is the fact that
[21:46] it follows its own rules in fact
[21:48] following the rules of alchemy is
[21:50] literally the entire plot of fmab can't
[21:52] do human transmutation without a
[21:53] philosopher stone if you try to turn
[21:55] something into something that it can't
[21:56] turn into there's things like rebounds a
[21:58] transportation circle is necessary for
[22:00] Alchemy to be pulled off unless a part
[22:02] of you exists beyond the gate and
[22:04] alkahestry and Alchemy work differently
[22:05] because they feed off different energy
[22:07] sources different transmutation circles
[22:09] make different kinds of alchemy Ed has
[22:11] to clap his hands together because he
[22:12] has to come into contact with the part
[22:13] of him that's in the gate and by
[22:14] clapping his hands together he makes a
[22:16] circle Al also has to clap his hands
[22:18] together but only to make a circle and
[22:19] not to touch the part of him that's in
[22:20] the gate because the entirety of him
[22:21] exists behind the gate philosopher zones
[22:23] which seemingly have a limitless amount
[22:24] of power require literally hundreds of
[22:26] thousands of people to be sacrificed and
[22:28] so on and so forth fmab does a fantastic
[22:31] job at following its own rules and thus
[22:34] in rule following it gets a 10 out of 10
[22:36] any moment that something happens in
[22:38] fmab there is a solid and concrete
[22:40] answer to explain exactly why that thing
[22:42] happened from a power perspective
[22:44] However unfortunately in the ease of
[22:46] understanding category Alchemy only gets
[22:47] an eight out of 10 differences between
[22:49] the manga the 2003 anime and the 2009
[22:52] anime when it comes to things like how
[22:54] transmutation circles work if
[22:55] transmutation arrays work how scars
[22:57] tattoos work how human transmutation
[23:00] Works how the philosopher stone Works
[23:02] makes trying to consume all of the
[23:03] knowledge of this universe a bit tedious
[23:06] on top of that everything surrounding
[23:08] the truth and the gate can get a bit
[23:10] complicated so Alchemy gets an8 out of
[23:13] 10 in terms of ease of understanding
[23:15] giving it a final score of 24 out of 30
[23:19] now coming up for spots 4 through two we
[23:21] technically have a three-way tie every
[23:24] single one of these Power Systems got a
[23:25] 26 out of 30 however they all got
[23:28] different scores in different categories
[23:31] except for ease of understanding where
[23:32] they all got a 10 so technically two
[23:35] through four are all tied for seconds so
[23:37] there's no hierarchy here but we got to
[23:39] do one first so coming up at number four
[23:41] is hockey SL devil fruits now out of the
[23:44] three Power Systems that are tied for
[23:46] second one piece's power system got the
[23:48] lowest ranking in terms of complexity
[23:50] with a six out of 10 which would tie it
[23:52] with things like pyrokinesis and Alchemy
[23:55] in terms of complexity in the one piece
[23:56] world there's three types of devil
[23:58] fruits and and three types of hockey
[23:59] zoen Parthia and loia and ornament
[24:02] observation and conqueror's hockey every
[24:04] powered person in one piece falls under
[24:06] one of these six umbrellas hockey users
[24:09] like Shanks mihawk and Zoro use a
[24:11] combination of ornament observation and
[24:13] conqueror's hockey to either understand
[24:15] what somebody's going to do before they
[24:16] do it strengthen their body or their
[24:18] blades or knock out entire groups of
[24:20] less strong uses around them with
[24:22] conqueror's hockey Del fruit users fall
[24:24] under the three categories that we
[24:26] talked about earlier paramia loia zoan
[24:28] type paramia users are the most complex
[24:31] as the paramia devil fruit users really
[24:34] Encompass anybody who with a devil fruit
[24:35] ability that falls outside of the
[24:37] categorization of either loia or zoen
[24:39] basically gives them a superhuman
[24:40] ability that's not categorizable like
[24:42] the Hanahan Nomi or the flower flower
[24:44] fruit that Robin has that allows her to
[24:45] make clones of herself or grow her body
[24:47] parts elsewhere after paramia there's
[24:49] zoan type devil fruits that just allow
[24:51] you to turn into a different thing like
[24:53] Luffy's devilfruit which was originally
[24:54] thought to be a paramio type but is
[24:56] actually a mythical zoan type with the
[24:58] thing that Luffy is able to transform
[25:00] into being the sun god Na and last but
[25:03] not least the rarest type of devil fruit
[25:05] and widely thought to be the strongest
[25:07] kind of devil fruit is the loio type
[25:09] which allows you to turn your body into
[25:10] an element of nature be that smoke
[25:12] lightning light itself mud the only
[25:15] defense against these kinds of devil
[25:16] fruit users is hockey it's not a complex
[25:19] power system it exists in a complex
[25:21] universe but the power system itself is
[25:23] very very straightforward and thus in
[25:26] terms of complexity devil fruits and
[25:27] hockey get a 6 out of 10 however in both
[25:30] rule following and ease of understanding
[25:33] it gets a 10 there are so many times
[25:35] that Oda could have taken the lazy route
[25:37] and said oh well delvert users aren't
[25:40] weak to the ocean anymore because he
[25:41] wanted to do an arc where Luffy had to
[25:43] go swimming or something like that and
[25:44] even though Odo reads his own Wiki to
[25:46] remember what his story was about and
[25:48] what the rules of his Universe are he
[25:50] apparently reads it enough because there
[25:51] are very few moments in the one piece
[25:53] Universe where the power system of the
[25:55] universe and the battles that unfurled
[25:57] don't follow the rules that are
[25:58] established by Oda earlier on in fact
[26:00] pretty much the only time that we got
[26:02] anything that looked like even remotely
[26:03] like a curveball in terms of breaking
[26:05] the rules is when devil fruit Awakenings
[26:07] were introduced during dress Rosa but
[26:09] that was explained not only quickly but
[26:11] also well which is why one piece's power
[26:13] system also gets a 10 in terms of ease
[26:15] of understanding because anything that
[26:17] happens gets meticulously explained over
[26:19] the course of five episodes because they
[26:22] got to fill showtime and thus one piece
[26:24] of power system of hockey and devil
[26:25] fruits gets a 26 out of 30 and died with
[26:28] that 26 out of 30 at our number three
[26:30] spot is bleach's spiritual pressure
[26:33] power system a power system that is just
[26:35] a Tey bit more complicated than one
[26:38] pieces but doesn't do as good a job as
[26:40] following the rules as one pieces see
[26:42] bleach of power system is complicated
[26:45] not as complicated as a couple of other
[26:46] Power Systems but it's still pretty
[26:48] complicated but unfortunately a lot of
[26:49] the complication around bleach's power
[26:50] system just comes from the fact that
[26:52] it's in like four different languages

[26:57] are in German nanar powers are in
[26:59] Spanish and shikami powers are in
[27:01] Japanese unless of course you're
[27:02] watching the dub and then some shikami
[27:04] powers are in English While others just
[27:07] stay in Japanese and that's when we're
[27:08] talking about Riu and ryoku which is
[27:10] just spiritual pressure and spiritual
[27:12] power and ashvin and SOS the power
[27:15] system can seem wildly intimidating but
[27:17] it's actually not all that complicated
[27:20] and it's also explained really well all
[27:22] power in the bleach Universe revolves
[27:23] around two things ryoku and RI that's
[27:26] like spiritual power and nature power
[27:29] shikigami and the arangar are powered by
[27:31] a ryoku and when they release that power
[27:33] that's Riu however quiny are able to
[27:35] absorb the energy of the atmosphere
[27:38] that's called RI and they're able to
[27:39] turn that energy into weapons like bows
[27:42] and swords now ryoko is kind of used for
[27:45] everything in the bleach Universe
[27:46] increasing your speed which is called
[27:47] hoo casting spells which are all
[27:50] referred to as keto spells but actually
[27:52] fall under three classifications bakodo
[27:54] which is a binding spell like barriers
[27:56] or seals h which are offensive spells
[27:59] and kaido which are healing spells on
[28:02] top of that roko is also used to
[28:03] increase somebody's strength and most
[28:05] importantly to use the special abilities
[28:07] of a shikigami sakoe and while it feels
[28:10] as though the iron car have their own
[28:12] entire set of powers they basically just
[28:14] use ryoku in the same way as shikigami
[28:17] but say it in Spanish whether it's
[28:18] firing compressed energy balls opening
[28:20] portals to travel between dimensions are
[28:22] using a resurrection which is basically
[28:24] their version of a bonkai but listen as
[28:26] I'm saying all of this out loud right
[28:27] now I'm I'm realizing that bleach's
[28:29] power system is a bit more complicated
[28:30] than I gave it credit for a couple of
[28:31] hours ago when I started this video
[28:33] especially because we've barely talked
[28:35] about the powers of the Quincy so in
[28:37] terms of complication I'm actually going
[28:39] to give bleach an eight but as I'm
[28:41] sitting here trying to use my German
[28:43] Spanish English and Japanese words to
[28:45] describe a power system I'm going to
[28:46] have to dock a point from that t of ease
[28:49] of understanding I said that this power
[28:50] system had it is well explained but it
[28:53] is not easy to understand but I was
[28:55] right in my assessment that it gets a
[28:57] nine in terms of rules following because
[28:59] bleach even though it is very
[29:00] complicated and it feels as though every
[29:01] new group of people has a different set
[29:03] of powers oh my God I forgot about the
[29:05] fullbringers There are rules set up for
[29:06] every individual group and they follow
[29:08] those rules religiously now
[29:10] unfortunately as genetic lines get
[29:12] crossed as Aon cars get quiny crosses
[29:15] and Ichigo collects all of the Infinity
[29:16] Stones of every race unfortunately
[29:18] sometimes the rules do get a bit blurry
[29:21] and considering the fact that spiritual
[29:22] energy a bit like to just seems to have
[29:24] the ability to do whatever you wanted to
[29:26] especially when you consider the
[29:27] individuality of a zonto and fonai
[29:29] release I just can't give bleach a 10 in
[29:31] terms of rules followed so by adding a
[29:33] point to complexity and taking a point
[29:35] away from ease of understanding bleach
[29:36] still sits at a 26 out of 30 which
[29:38] brings us to our last 26 on this list
[29:41] chakra which I believe to be one of the
[29:42] most complex deep and wellth thought out
[29:44] Power Systems in all of anime which is
[29:47] why I gave it a nine out of 10 in terms
[29:50] of complexity and yes does Naruto not
[29:52] have explanations of its powers in four
[29:54] different languages and every new group
[29:55] of people gets a new different type of
[29:57] ability no it doesn't but that doesn't
[29:59] mean that the power system of Naruto
[30:00] isn't incredibly complex there are
[30:02] multiple categorizations of different
[30:04] kinds of powers that somebody can
[30:05] allocate to get as strong as they want
[30:08] in the Naruto Universe in fact the
[30:09] Naruto universe is truly a picky own
[30:12] adventure whether you want to become a
[30:13] master of the five Elemental releases
[30:15] like hero in sarobi and use Fire release
[30:18] mud walls highpressure water jets
[30:20] lightning strikes and wind gusts to make
[30:22] yourself a threat on the battlefield or
[30:24] you want to focus on yin yang release
[30:26] and use a Yin based jutu like genjutsu
[30:29] or a Yang based Jutsu like the akamichi
[30:31] calorie control born with a dojutsu like
[30:33] the Byakugan the shangan or the renon
[30:35] you're granted access to entirely new
[30:37] Jus that nobody else has access to
[30:40] whether that be something like gentle
[30:41] fist where you strike at Chakra points
[30:42] to increase the chakra flow at that
[30:44] point or stop it entirely or the
[30:45] extrasensory perception of the Shing God
[30:47] that eventually turns into the MS that
[30:49] allows you things like amatarasu and
[30:50] suomi and Susana or the power of the
[30:53] renegon that allows for you to pull
[30:54] meteors from the sky and hurdle them in
[30:56] armies there's also senjutsu and
[30:58] multiple kinds of senjutsu be it frog or
[31:01] snake there's shinui who channel the
[31:03] power of the tailed beasts inside of
[31:05] them there's Kai Kota koraa and there's
[31:08] now things like shinjutsu the
[31:10] fundamental principal jutsus of the gods
[31:12] that have been watered down over
[31:13] generations to be used by humans but
[31:15] don't forget if you just want to toss
[31:17] hands there's always Tai Jutsu and
[31:18] things like the seven Heavenly breaths
[31:20] and the eight Gates there are 8 million
[31:23] ways to be incredibly powerful inside
[31:25] the Naruto universe and thus every
[31:27] single single person's powers are a
[31:29] reflection of who they are and thus in
[31:31] terms of complexity Naruto's power
[31:34] system gets a nine out of 10 but for
[31:38] rule following it gets a seven out of 10
[31:40] the lowest out of the big three who are
[31:42] all tied for second place here listen
[31:44] Naruto's complex power system is
[31:46] sometimes its biggest weakness events
[31:48] like her is in being able to seal away
[31:50] the soul of hashirama Toyama and half of
[31:52] Orochimaru at 70 years old don't make a
[31:54] whole lot of sense when you understand
[31:56] how Reaper death seal works the same
[31:57] could be for Mino being able to fight an
[31:59] entire battle against Obito and then go
[32:00] seal half of Kurama using Reaper death
[32:03] seal also understanding that Susan
[32:04] requires a usage of two MSI gets a bit
[32:06] complicated when we see MAA use susano
[32:08] with no eyes Sasuke being able to summon
[32:10] Garuda his Hawk summon to the lava
[32:12] Dimension proves that summoning
[32:13] contracts can work across Dimensions so
[32:16] hypothetically there was no real reason
[32:17] to gather all the Kate together to
[32:19] summon team seven back from K's
[32:21] Dimension as they could have been
[32:22] reverse summoned by any of the
[32:24] connections they had on Earth and thus

[32:27] a power system and the more you make it
[32:29] understandable to those digesting it the
[32:31] more strict you have to be about the
[32:32] idea of following those rules and
[32:34] unfortunately Naruto slips up with that
[32:36] a lot more than the other two entries
[32:37] from The Big Three however in the ease
[32:39] of understanding category Naruto's power
[32:42] system is very easy to understand yes

[32:46] explaining Naruto and yes I get
[32:47] questions about Naruto's power system
[32:49] every single day but Naruto does a quite
[32:52] literally industry-leading job at
[32:54] explaining its power system even though
[32:56] it's incredibly complicated Naro power
[32:58] system just like bleach and one pieces
[33:00] gets a 26 so Nick if all three of the
[33:04] big three Power Systems are tied for
[33:06] second place what's in first well I'm so
[33:09] happy you asked because it's the only
[33:12] perfect power system in all of anime and
[33:15] Mona and that would be at number one nen
[33:20] yeah I'm going to spoil it nen gets a
[33:22] perfect 30 then is by far and away one
[33:24] of the most complex anime Power Systems
[33:26] in existence not only is there six
[33:29] affinities that a n user can fall into
[33:31] those being enhancement transmutation
[33:33] conjuration specialization manipulation
[33:35] and amission but within the confines of
[33:37] those categorizations the possibilities
[33:39] are almost endless enhancement can mean
[33:41] you're turning your right jab into a
[33:42] punch so powerful that eventually it'll
[33:44] be compared to a small nuclear missile
[33:46] but it can also mean that you've
[33:47] enhanced your smell to the point where
[33:48] you can sniff out n users in a crowd a
[33:51] mission can be firing nen bullets from
[33:53] your fingers or creating a nen Dragon to
[33:55] ride on specialization can vary from
[33:57] being able to steal other people's
[33:58] techniques or predict the future in a
[34:00] poem and so on and so forth nen can help
[34:03] you accomplish anything and that's just
[34:06] within the categorization systems as
[34:08] there are also basic principles to nen
[34:10] that everybody has access to things like
[34:12] Ren ten Ken show goo and so much more on
[34:17] top of this battles that revolve around
[34:18] nen require a constant adjus of where
[34:21] your nen around your body is if you're
[34:23] trying to deliver a punch you deliver
[34:25] your nen to your fist but if you're
[34:26] trying to block a punch to your chest

[34:29] as possible to heighten your defenses on

[34:54] princes there's really nothing that you
[34:55] can accomplish in the hunter hunter
[34:57] Universe through net and there is no
[35:00] Universe more stringent about following
[35:02] the rules that it's laid down than the
[35:05] hunter hunter Universe there are no and
[35:07] I mean this no power related plot holes
[35:10] in Hunter Hunter everything has
[35:13] consequences every show of immense power
[35:15] comes with the trade-off and while sure
[35:17] Alica is able to Grant as many wishes as
[35:18] kiloa wants that's explained word for
[35:21] word and fact pretty much anytime a new
[35:23] and novel concept is introduced to
[35:25] Hunter Hunter we take Pages if not
[35:27] chapter to explain it and while many
[35:29] would say that that's a weakness of
[35:30] Hunter Hunter because Togashi is always
[35:32] overe explaining if you're actually
[35:33] reading what Togashi is saying
[35:36] understanding how the power system of
[35:37] nen works is very simple on top of this
[35:40] well nen has a binding vow esque
[35:42] restriction ability that allows you to
[35:44] make deals with yourselves or others or
[35:46] just take risks to make your abilities
[35:48] more powerful Togashi never cheapens nen
[35:50] power and training by simply making
[35:52] somebody ridiculously powerful and
[35:54] unkillable without any consequences
[35:56] coming because well yes absolutely
[35:58] restrictions and deals are made to make
[36:00] characters very powerful most notably
[36:02] like with gone but the restriction and
[36:03] deal to turned gone into a threat whose
[36:05] claws could possibly reach maram almost
[36:08] cost him his life and has now at least
[36:10] currently in the manga cost him the
[36:12] ability to use net actions have
[36:15] consequences and because of that to me
[36:18] Hunter Hunter has the perfect power
[36:20] system giving it the only 30 on this
