## Summary

In this video, a veteran discusses the concept of 'golden handcuffs' in the military, where the security of a steady paycheck and benefits can trap individuals in a comfort zone, preventing them from taking financial risks. He shares his personal journey of using the military's safety net to take calculated risks, lose money, and learn, ultimately aiming for financial freedom rather than a modest retirement. The video emphasizes a mindset shift from relying solely on military income to actively growing wealth and reclaiming time.

### Key Points

- **Rejecting a modest retirement** [00:01] — The speaker expresses dissatisfaction with the idea of retiring on $60,000 a year, indicating a desire for more than a basic military pension.
- **Golden handcuffs syndrome** [00:15] — The military provides a secure job with reliable pay, which can lead to a comfort zone where individuals avoid taking risks, planning to retire on a fixed income instead.
- **Using safety net for risk** [00:44] — The speaker used the military's steady paycheck as a safety net to take financial risks, including losing money and trying things that didn't work, knowing he would still get paid.
- **Mindset shift for financial growth** [01:10] — He aims to help veterans shift their mindset from limiting themselves to their military income and future retirement, to actively growing wealth and reclaiming their time.

### Conclusion

The video advocates for using the military's financial security as a springboard for calculated risk-taking, rather than falling into a comfort zone that limits financial growth. The key takeaway is to shift from a fixed-income mindset to one focused on wealth creation and time freedom.

## Transcript

60 grand a year in retirement? I'm like, no, that that wasn't good enough for me, with people that are coming fresh out of the military and building their real important to you? >> Yeah, because so I mean the military is
It's it's not like anything else you would understand unless you're actually military they suffer with what I call the golden handcuffs syndrome, right? So because they have this safety of, you know, having a secure job, you know,
15th like freaking clockwork, you know, regardless of where you are. A lot of folks instead of using that as a platform for them to take risks, they actually fall back into this comfort zone where they're like, oh, I'll retire
and you know, and I asked myself the question, do I want to retire and only I'm like, no, that that wasn't good enough for me, right? So I said, when I was in the military, what I did was I used the safety net of my job to take
risk. I lost money. I tried things that I know that didn't work, but I also had a job that was, you know, where I know I was going to get paid. So I try to help guys have that paradigm shift in their mindset, you know, and not just limit
themselves to their income and then their retired, their future retirement, and how to grow and how to really claim and how to grow and how to really claim your time back.
