[0:00] your video design is one of the most [0:02] important things when it comes to your [0:03] content it represents you and it will be [0:06] a thing you see every day for the next [0:08] few years until you graduate so today [0:10] I'm going to tell you how to do that se [0:12] right and how to make a good character [0:14] design why should you listen to me I'm [0:16] an artist and character designer and [0:19] I've been reading since 2 and a half [0:20] years and I've rep it nine whole times [0:23] and there soon will be a 10th one [0:25] hopefully it will be the last one [0:26] because with this one I'll make sure [0:28] that I'm not going to repeat the [0:29] mistakes every so far and I'll teach [0:31] them to you so you don't have to reind [0:33] nine times as 12 or more so first of all [0:37] your M should represent you as an [0:40] example if you have a Gman personality [0:43] don't make your M Dy Mommy okay one of I [0:45] previous mod models um looked kind of [0:48] like this it was really edgy and I don't [0:51] know and well I was just kind of [0:54] miserable when I had to mod cuz it's [0:55] just not me I'm not etchy at least not [0:57] my personality um if also seen another [1:00] YouTuber say your model should reflect [1:03] your content but I don't think that's [1:04] true it should it should represent your [1:07] personality as an example um ji DOI if [1:10] you look at her model you already know [1:12] this a gremlin or at least like a person [1:14] with a lot of energy like she does [1:16] gaming content and like why would she [1:20] make a model based of gaming content it [1:22] w make sense it will make sense though [1:25] to make her model based off of her [1:27] personality um now secondly a thing it [1:31] will also represent is what you like [1:33] okay Implement clothing styles colors [1:36] Aesthetics and accessories that you like [1:38] into your design as example one of my [1:40] feing friends Jam peanuts they're um [1:43] their style is soraa and they like they [1:46] like rainbows like everything colorful [1:48] and you can see it on the model thirdly [1:50] and one of the most important things to [1:52] consider then designing is your theme [1:55] it's really really important to have a [1:57] clear theme you should be able to look [1:59] at you and be able to tell what thing [2:01] you have going on except if you're [2:02] really come to them of or species and or [2:05] speci species I cannot pronounce the [2:08] word if you don't know how um I [2:10] recommend writing down elements that are [2:12] similar to your theme and then [2:13] implementing them into your design an [2:15] example if you are a demon add horns and [2:18] a tail possibly add small Wings maybe [2:21] could add fire um how you add fire to [2:23] model well you could make a small fire [2:25] pin you could add it to your texture um [2:29] if you don't know how to do D let me [2:30] show you an example um I made a design [2:32] recently and one of the um elements was [2:35] emotions look at this there was a small [2:37] hard cut out on the chest there's small [2:39] tears on the skirt and under the eyes [2:42] and there's also small hearts on the [2:43] boots if you can't get with anything [2:46] yourself you could look up the signs [2:47] with a similar theme and see what other [2:49] people did um but don't copy don't copy [2:52] that's not don't copy also if you don't [2:55] know how to get inspiration I'll talk [2:57] about that as well after the next advice [2:59] which is is balance details sounds kind [3:02] of dumb but let me explain I think [3:04] there's three types of details big [3:06] details middle details and small details [3:09] kind of like food sizes unless you're [3:10] American let me explain them with a [3:12] design I made recently look at this [3:14] cotton candy girl a big detail will be [3:17] the skirts or the pigtails a middle siiz [3:19] detail could be the Ruffles and a small [3:22] one could be the candy all over there I [3:24] hope you kind of get what I mean cuz I [3:26] think it's kind of important to balance [3:27] this uh cuz if you have too much big [3:29] details it's going to look plain if it [3:31] has too many details it's going to be [3:33] overwhelming and a pain in the as draw [3:35] and well we do not want to be up charge [3:37] foric design so listen to me also if you [3:40] made it this far I assume you like this [3:42] video so please like because a lot of [3:44] people forget to do that even though [3:45] they like the video as I said earlier I [3:47] was going to talk about how to get [3:50] inspiration so now I'm going to do that [3:52] first of all how I get pictures [3:54] personally um I like to use Twitter [3:57] because I often come across adoptables [3:58] or just genuinely character design [4:00] that's that's my time liit I don't know [4:02] about yours um so what I really [4:03] recommend is Pinterest if you don't have [4:06] it freaking download it okay you missing [4:08] out [4:09] buddy what I do is I just search up the [4:11] species and download some photos like as [4:13] an example I search up vampire or c/ [4:15] weer or cat character just just stuff [4:18] like that um and then I also look up the [4:20] elements and hairstyles and then when [4:22] you think you have enough photos like [4:25] maybe 10 to 20 it can be less it can be [4:27] more it's time to get it a mve [4:30] board I actually only started using M [4:33] bars until very recently I always just [4:36] put the inso in my reference window but [4:38] now I'm looking but now looking back I [4:40] don't really recommend it anymore [4:42] because a lot of times I looked at one [4:44] photo for too long and forgot the other [4:47] ones also I use Pixar to make the mood [4:50] Parts you can add photos really fast [4:52] it's free and yeah it's just really good [4:54] so if you don't have an app to make them [4:55] I I really recommend it uh [5:00] I'm sorry I'm sick next is how easy it [5:03] is to grow a character I already [5:04] mentioned this earlier that you [5:05] shouldn't have too much spell details [5:07] because well you might either get [5:09] upcharged or be frustrated every time [5:11] you Dy yourself so yeah but it's not [5:13] just about small details I'm about to [5:15] say next is mainly going to apply to [5:17] artist try to make a design easy to draw [5:20] for you as an example I suck at drawing [5:24] t-shirts okay so I'm not going to aim to [5:27] give my character t-shirt or if you [5:29] don't like drawing white hair maybe you [5:30] should maybe you shouldn't go with white [5:31] hair Al I'm just saying this for mental [5:33] sanity okay if you really want white [5:35] hair or whatever go with it okay take [5:37] this little grain of salt pretend you're [5:39] a white woman that thinks salt spicy [5:41] that's how much you want to take his [5:42] advice from me okay okay you got [5:45] it oh yeah also think about rigging [5:48] unless you're another rigger then that's [5:49] not your problem but again it's not that [5:51] big of a deal at the time recording it's [5:53] 2024 and there's pretty much TOS [5:57] everywhere now a last advice for this [5:59] this video is make your design [6:02] recognizable you can do that in many [6:04] many ways one will be the Silhouettes [6:06] personally my favorite things to make [6:08] that s out is Big clothes like sleeves [6:11] big hoods or capes I think we need more [6:14] ERS of capes I also really love unique [6:17] hairstyles and big Tails a few video [6:20] mods that did this really well is first [6:21] of all crushy Oli CR I'm not sure if I'm [6:25] pronouncing name right probably not um [6:27] maybe you've seen her before um she's [6:29] from whole life and she's a Zombie Beer [6:31] which you can already tell by looking at [6:33] her and I I love her design and model [6:35] overall cuz um what makes her model or [6:38] like silouettes s out so much first of [6:40] all is a skirt it's big and it's really [6:45] um unsymmetrical which is also good um [6:48] and you should consider that too and [6:51] also the buns and the SW I love this SW [6:53] I love that detail one we also a really [6:56] good Sid is Juju Wenda she is a [7:00] um I probably pronounce it wrong too [7:03] he's a small preev um preed YouTu um [7:07] she's a she's a I think vood doll vood [7:11] doll beer and I just I love the design [7:13] um I love the Buns I just I love [7:16] everything about it it's so cool um I [7:18] yeah the was made by gentle power who is [7:21] um a fairly small um character designer [7:26] here on Twitter um and their designs are [7:28] really really good you should definitely [7:29] check them out oh yeah something you [7:31] could also consider is how much your [7:33] character stands out among other [7:34] characters with the same species or [7:36] theme let's test this out uh my current [7:39] model is a shark let's search that up on [7:42] printerest and see how much I would send [7:44] out this is also just pin um I'm sure if [7:46] I'd be compared to other viers I would [7:48] perhaps stand a little less but it [7:50] doesn't really matter because again I'm [7:52] Pro I'm probably going to reprint soon [7:54] it's going to be the 10th time [7:59] but yeah that's it with this video [8:01] already um I really hope you found this [8:03] helpful and that you're now more [8:05] inspired to make a character sign Al a [8:07] small reminder that I do commission so [8:09] if you really don't want to do it [8:10] yourself I can always be the one to do [8:11] it for you but for now bye-bye and [8:14] please show me this bye [8:18] [Music]
