[00:02] your host, Paul. Or am I? Well, variants in the multiverse are what I want to talk about in this video as we go through what if Steve Rogers in the Avengers Doomsday trailer is actually Captain Hydra. Now, this is something
[00:14] I was putting together one of the thumbnails for the teaser trailer breakdown on the channel. now. But YouTube basically has a system now where thumbnails and then randomly show them to people on YouTube and then whatever
[00:27] gets the most clicks after a couple of days gets to be the thumbnail. a video, you don't know exactly what thumbnail to put with some stuff. So, this just gives you a clear indication about which one you should go with. Off
[00:39] that are like, "Why do you keep changing the thumbnails?" So, if you ever wanted burying the lead there. Um, but when I was putting together the thumbnail for in it actually looked a bit brown and was like, hm, that's a bit strange,
[00:55] mate. Thought the whole point was had had blue eyes. But going to Twitter, Rob it, too. And I thought I'd put together a video discussing the theory that this is Captain Hydra. If you agree, please hit the thumbs up. And if you don't, uh,
[01:10] do anything. Uh, so yeah, just sit there case. And in this video, I kind of want to go through the pros of this theory, but also the stuff that debunks it. We also have our Doomsday inspired shirts
[01:23] of my favorite designs with Cyclops going full power. Plus, there's big discounts as well, and the more shirts you buy, the more money you save. So, trailer, we see the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers. The guy's got
[01:37] long hair, a beard, and looks quite like he did during Infinity War. However, Evans does look slightly different. And I did wonder if the hair, makeup, or the fact he's a bit older makes him look slightly off. What do you mean people
[01:51] age over time, but the character comes at a much needed time as well as in the teaser, we've just seen Dr. Doom casually stopping Stormbreaker with two fingers. Everything crescendos at that moment, and then we get this sigh of
[02:04] relief after when in the teaser, Thor exclaims in disbelief, "It's not possible." However, Steve calls the hammer and seemingly confirms that he is still worthy. But are things as they seem? Well, much in the same way that
[02:18] Robert Downey Jr. is playing a version of Doom, Chris Evans could be playing a version of Evil Cap. Captain Hydra, or Hydraap, as he's sometimes known, is a twisted variant for Marvel comic Secret Empire. This was a massively
[02:30] even kind of made fun of it during >> "Hailro." Now to understand the theory, we need to look at the comic book itself. Launched from 2016 to 2017, Ryden Spencer gave us
[02:45] Captain America Steve Rogers and also the secret empire event. In it, we learned that a fragment of the cosmic cube named Kobix had created an alternate version of Steve Rogers. This new Steve was a deep cover Hydra Sleeper
[02:57] altered to serve the forces of evil. He's got a brand new costume as well, and even though it's a bad guy costume, it would probably look better than the t-shirt and jacket combo we see here, but left the characters deeply divided,
[03:10] and his pals had to deal with the fact their closest ally was now their biggest threat. It's something they could also be doing with Robert Downey Jr.'s Doom. And as they say, you either die hero hitting the thumbs up or you live long
[03:22] crush viewer. Now, the ark was pretty polarizing, and it was during a time where Marvel were doing a lot of off-the-wall things. So this was a very bold subversion of their greatest hero. They explored identity, legacy, and also
[03:36] manipulation. Now though I don't think it always hit the mark, I have to say also become your greatest enemy is something I think works really well as a concept. Now while this theory works and what it hinges on is the lifting of
[03:51] >> What is the name of Thor's hammer? >> Jonathan. >> In the trailer, Cap lifts Jonathan, showing that he is still worthy. How Captain Hydra did in the comics. Madame Hydra used another cube fragment to
[04:04] instead of whoever holds his hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor. Became something about having the time since I read it, mate. H something.
[04:16] It was along those lines. But either way, Hydra Cap could lift it. Now, in the trailer, Thor even questions things with this new look and says, "It's not >> Which seems a bit weird. If this were really a time displaced or DH prime
[04:29] Steve universe, Thor might be surprised, but the line suggests something particular Steve. And his eyes are brown, I'm telling you. In the comics, reveal was similar, and they were a mix of disbelief, betrayal, and horror. But
[04:44] wielding Jonathan to prove his identity is something that could be seen as a cruel trick to trick the heroes. Because of this, I do wonder if this is a Doom related manipulation. And Thor's senses are showing that he is a bit stunned by
[04:56] it. Plus, the bearded rugged look does match more with the persona he had during Infinity War. The one we saw in the earlier teaser was more in line with the post Endgame Steve. So, the long hair version feels feels a bit like he
[05:09] was then. Plus, there's the context of the whole movie and the conflict with Dr. Doom. Doom is a master manipulator who could easily ally himself with or exploit a Hydra variant. Hydra themselves would also have interest in
[05:21] the multiverse, too, and this could be something they try to rule. Beyond that, the buildup to Secret Wars in the comics also had an evil group of Avengers that of the most shocking reveals in the whole run, and it's something I think of
[05:34] first when I think of this comic. So, I do think it would be a shame not to pull off something like this in the film. The MCU has heavily leaned into variants and identity since the Loki and what if and we've seen countless alternate versions
[05:47] of heroes turning into villains and I think Hydraap would expand the true potential of the multiverse saga. So far beyond like No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness. Um in live action they haven't really done that much. So I
[06:00] think something like this would be a great way to take things. Steve's MCU arc also ended on a note of legacy as he chose peace and pass the mantle. bring back our Steve as the main hero I think would undercut Sam Wilson's Captain
[06:13] America and Avarian threat solves this and keeps the events of Endgame in place without ruining what happened there. I also think the Hail Hadra moment would and it would be a way to instantly reveal he's a villain within their
[06:26] ranks. Using his sleeper cell tactics, he could sabotage them from within, which is such a classic Hydro tactic. A later reveal that the hammer was altered or that his worthiness was faked that would echo the comics perfectly. We
[06:38] could then have the real Steve come back for Secret Wars and take down his evil self, which would be a massive triumph in return. Now, not everyone agrees, and some argue that he's simply a time displaced or DH Prime Steve or a variant
[06:52] from the timeline where he stayed with Peggy and never grew to be old at that point. He got picked up before he turned old. I don't think they'll undo things I think that Steve there is probably off in his own timeline. Don't know, mate.
[07:05] these timelines, they're they're a mess and confusing, but technically there could be two different versions of him who all went on to do similar things with Peggy. Feel that even if they went to ask old Steve for advice on exactly
[07:17] how to deal with this threat, he'd be like, "Well, didn't happen to my version. So, you good luck." Now, we also have the leaks around the movie now. And if you don't want to know, mate, you you better go. I forgive you
[07:30] mean I've already spoiled it? cuz the fan theory is definitely right. Well, I talk about some of the leaks and how they paint things out and give greater context to these scenes. So, in the trailer, we can see someone standing
[07:45] behind Steve to the left. This person is heavily blurred and it's difficult to make out who this is. However, it does appear that he's on the ship with the character. Now, I don't believe this is someone like um I don't know that people
[07:58] keep suggesting like Daredevil. Like Daredevil's in everything. Daredevil has been CGI removed from absolutely every trailer ever. But people keep suggesting anyone important or someone who's a big
[08:10] either Dr. Doom or the characters from the Fantastic 4 universe. This rocket itself is the ship from the end of that film. And this is also what we saw appearing at the end of Thunderbolts. So, I do feel like this is carrying on
[08:23] directly from that scene and they're just kind of building off that moment. Now, the reason he's on board this, at least according to the leaks, is because Apparently, the film opens with Loki going to Steve's and meeting him after
[08:36] might also notice that it looks like Loki is holding a card. However, Chris from 3C Films pointed out that whoever is holding this card is wearing a wedding ring. So, this is likely Steve's hand. According to the leaks in the
[08:49] wants to come and help him fight off some threats in the multiverse. But Steve's like, "Ah, mate, it's my day off. I'm not I'm I'm not I'm not doing seen Haley out? Well, but apparently right after this, Loki says that being
[09:03] on this world is causing issues. So, they need to go and live on another Earth. I'm guessing that Steve having a kid that shouldn't exist has caused they'll then have to leave. You'll have to go. Not in a racist way, mate, but
[09:16] it's at this point that they then go live on the Fantastic 4 Earth. How about they apparently also cause problems here as well and the incursions then start. Doom discovers this and then goes to the Fantastic 4 which leads into the scene
[09:31] film. According to the leaks, they then scan the Earth and find Steve and decide to return him to his world. This is where things go out from. So, it would make sense to be the Steve from Endgame. However, I do wonder as well if Doom
[09:45] could have got him in that time and possibly corrupted or even swapped him with an evil variant from another Earth. And have you seen Haley Out? Well, I'm sure every variant out there would be signing up. So, yeah, I do wonder if
[09:57] that is something that's going to be happening. And the Doomsday trailer does have all the hallmarks of an evil Captain America. He has brown eyes. But yeah, there's that mysterious return. He can lift Jonathan, which echoes the
[10:10] comic's deception. There's Thor's disbelief and the fact that Doom's and it draws directly from one of Marvel's boldest and most debated comic arcs while fitting the MCU's current multiverse phase and actually making it
[10:23] have some impact if Marvel pulls the trigger on Hail Hydra in live action. I shocks in MCU history. I actually the clues that it could be possible. And I'd of course love to hear your thoughts
