today's video is going to be [0:32] all about pricing strategies now my name [0:35] is Joey Valor for partner of profits I [0:37] work with Brands to help them work with [0:38] influencers and I also help influencers [0:40] get brand deals just like you so today [0:43] we're going to talk about that even if [0:44] you have a small Channel we're going to [0:45] start with Point number one Impressions [0:48] what are Impressions it's your average [0:49] views you get consistently on each video [0:52] and how do you figure that out do you [0:53] look at the last video do you look at [0:54] the last 20 30 typically Brands what I [0:57] recommend is look at the last 10 videos [0:59] tally up those 10 videos and the view [1:01] counts and then dividing by 10 that [1:03] should give you your average view count [1:04] per video as it stands today you need [1:07] that number in order to determine the [1:09] pricing in The Next Step so make sure to [1:11] go do that now pause the video come back [1:13] number two is your Channel's growth rate [1:15] percentage even more important than [1:17] subscriber counts is how fast is your [1:19] Channel Growing because if you have [1:21] 5,000 followers today or views and you [1:24] grew over the past 6 months by 50% [1:26] that's going to continue to grow and [1:28] that's what a brand should be aware of [1:30] it's not necessarily how big your [1:31] channel is how fast you're growing your [1:33] growth rate can become very valuable and [1:35] for Brands looking at YouTubers again I [1:37] suggest looking at the growth rate which [1:39] you can calculate by looking at the last [1:41] 6 months growth if you go to something [1:43] like socialblade.com or something [1:44] similar you can go to free analytic [1:46] tools like this and you can figure this [1:48] out and it's important to know that as a [1:50] Creator because that gives you fuel when [1:52] you're going into your negotiations that [1:54] yeah you have a small Channel but you're [1:55] showing a lot of potential now the [1:57] amount of money that you can make varies [1:59] significantly depending on the placement [2:01] opportunities and the strategies that [2:03] you use whether it's mid-roll pre-rolls [2:05] Etc but there's some more creative [2:07] places you can actually start to [2:08] advertise and monetize and those views [2:11] and Impressions add up which means more [2:13] money for you the Creator and listen [2:16] we're not going to get into that in this [2:17] video but there is a whole playlist on [2:19] how to get more brand deals even if you [2:20] have a small channel so check somewhere [2:22] in the description or somewhere in this [2:23] video there's going to be a link to the [2:24] next video which is going to be all the [2:26] placement opportunities that I recommend [2:27] as the prime real estate number three is [2:30] actually how do you price your [2:31] impressions so the way that the market [2:34] usually dictates a price it's called CPM [2:37] cost per Mill now what they do is they [2:40] take whatever impression count it is [2:42] whether it's how many emails are sent [2:43] how many views you get on a video you [2:45] divide by th000 and you multiply by a [2:47] factor of a CPM so cpms now you know [2:51] that you can go and start to understand [2:52] this next part which is how do you [2:54] charge cpms per placement opportunities [2:57] we're going to cover the most popular [2:59] ones right now that you might be aware [3:00] of but there's pre-roll mid-roll post [3:02] rolls dedicated videos and product [3:05] placements pre-roll ads are as they all [3:07] suggest of course they're at the [3:08] beginning of the video and they're [3:10] around $45 CPM now this can vary [3:12] depending on the Creator depending on [3:13] the brand so take this with a bit of a [3:15] grain of salt but know that these are [3:16] the most Prime real estate placements [3:18] because they're the beginning of the [3:20] video where people are typically [3:21] watching mid roll ads it's still [3:23] valuable they're still engaged [3:25] potentially and you know especially if [3:27] you have really good content you can [3:29] still charge on $40 CPM for that now the [3:32] next one is post roll this is like the [3:34] least significant Because by the end of [3:36] the video people have probably tapered [3:37] off and it's probably not 100% watch [3:40] time on all your videos so it's usually [3:41] $35 CPM and again don't take these [3:44] numbers so literally just know that [3:46] pre-roll is the prime placements mid [3:49] roll is the second best placement and [3:50] end roll typically is the lowest [3:52] placement then you have dedicated video [3:54] now this is the cream of the crop [3:55] placement for any kind of brand because [3:58] they have a whole video it could be a [3:59] five 10-minute review video on the [4:01] product it could be other ways that you [4:03] monetize this video of terms of how to [4:06] explain the product in a different way [4:08] but your only focus is the product and [4:10] that brand and their business so you can [4:12] get creative on how you roll this out [4:14] but you can typically charge like a 5x [4:16] CPM so imagine if it's a $50 CPM if it's [4:20] a product video placement review video [4:22] type thing you're charging around [4:24] anywhere from 3 to 5x that amount [4:26] because of the amount of editing and [4:27] time it's going to take and then you [4:29] have product placements now this is just [4:30] like when you have a product in the [4:31] video maybe you're not mentioning it [4:33] maybe you are but it's not a real big [4:35] Focus you're not spending a lot of time [4:37] talking it through these are lower [4:39] values like $20 cpms and again don't [4:41] take it literally as to how much you [4:43] should charge although this is a good [4:44] starting point all right so if you do [4:46] have a small Channel and if you're a [4:47] brand looking at a YouTuber with a small [4:49] Channel and you look at the Impressions [4:51] and it doesn't seem like you have a lot [4:52] of money to make don't worry because [4:54] there's also factors you have to [4:55] consider when you're sponsoring somebody [4:57] on YouTube or if you're asking a brand [4:59] to sponsor you now let's talk about some [5:01] bonus tips because again you might have [5:03] a really small Channel today and you [5:04] might be thinking I can't even charge a [5:06] CPM that's worth it it might be like 50 [5:07] bucks today for a video 100 bucks first [5:10] off don't get caught up in that know [5:12] that a sponsor leads to new sponsors [5:14] opportunity leads to new opportunity and [5:16] for the brand side of things consider [5:19] the micro creators are growing so [5:21] getting in on the ground floor with them [5:22] is a lot easier than people who have [5:25] millions of followers already they're [5:26] already picked over you can't get in so [5:28] start the treat micro creators with more [5:30] respect and here are the bonus tips I [5:32] have for the Creator side price for your [5:34] today value you can't lie about your [5:36] viewers right they can see that Brands [5:38] can see it it's easy anyone can see it [5:40] it's public knowledge so price for your [5:42] today value but factor in what's your [5:44] growth how fast are you growing I'd put [5:47] that forth and I'd bake that into the [5:48] cost a bit because if they lock in a [5:50] deal today and they only release a video [5:53] for or 6 months later or 12 months the [5:55] price is going to change your viewership [5:57] is going to go up so you want a price [5:59] for today value but factoring your [6:00] growth potential the next bonus tip is [6:03] consider a commission share first off [6:05] Brands like to hear this and they'll [6:07] offer longer term deals for these types [6:09] of things plus you get to make a [6:11] longtail dividend on that commission [6:13] from your videos and your viewership [6:15] going up over time so consider a [6:17] commission share and then explain the [6:20] editing cost I like to always bake that [6:22] in kind of like hey Brand I'd love to [6:24] work with you on this video This is [6:25] where my impressions are this my CPM is [6:27] but I have these editing costs and I'd [6:29] love to do a bigger video for you and [6:30] more production value could we factor [6:33] that into the cost here's what my hard [6:34] costs are be transparent be honest be [6:38] upfront Brands appreciate this and [6:40] you're more likely to sign a longer term [6:41] deal with communication like this so [6:44] hopefully took away something from this [6:46] episode that helps you now position [6:47] yourself to a brand to possibly get your [6:49] first brand deal that makes me excited I [6:52] hope it makes you excited and Brands [6:54] please do not disregard the small micro [6:56] creators okay they're valuable they're [6:58] growing they're hungry you want to work [7:01] with them now you know the pricing [7:02] strategy so you can maximize
