[00:00] that AI is not gonna take your viewers. And I know that sounds weird, but let me explain. When you ask them what type of channel they have, [00:13] Oh, me? Well, you know, it's fitness content. but the problem is there's no clarity [00:28] They think that, hey, I'm just doing fitness content. and the nuance involved with the fitness content. but not in the way you think. [00:40] or your type of channel, or all of the other channels that make your type of content, The other problem is YouTube's algorithm. [00:55] it says the algorithm follows the audience. when it's presented to them, It's pretty cut and dry, [01:07] and that fitness channel publishes a video on how to run, that are interested in running, obviously. or people that are just interested in running by itself. [01:23] publishes another video Here's why. can both be a part of fitness, [01:36] wildly different types of viewers, about bench pressing a lot of weight. but they don't really care about running. [01:50] than people in their thirties, which brings us right back to the algorithm problem. and they really enjoy that video, [02:04] additional content from that creator's archive YouTube is also likely to recommend new content And, of course, while all of that is happening, [02:18] in the interest of the viewer. and this is where, being a small content creator, they might not have a lot of content yet [02:33] to topically align everything. some of your content against those viewers. the people that really enjoyed that running video, [02:46] for that runner, then, in that case, and they're not gonna respond to it And the same thing applies to the bench pressing content. [02:59] and YouTube tries to recommend some of this running content that are into bench pressing, and you're picking up what I'm putting down, [03:12] if the content is not aligned and their system recommends your content to that viewer that are out of alignment with those other videos, [03:29] And that can hurt the initial performance of the video. it can make it really difficult for a channel to grow. and they don't click on it, and that continues to happen, [03:44] that those viewers are not responding to your content. they're gonna show them more content this can create a lot of complications [03:57] that you're putting in right now, until you get some of these things taken care of. you end up putting in all of this time and effort [04:11] that you just can't get off the ground. not just against other creators, This is where planting your flag comes in. [04:25] which is a lot more interesting a flag is a distinctive piece of fabric used as a symbol, In our case, we're talking about signaling. [04:39] you modify what you're offering that are interested in very specific things. you're putting out when you're expressing your video ideas [04:53] so that they'll click on your videos, With this same type of flag planting, the way that you talk to them [05:07] these types of things also signal to those viewers For example, if that fitness channel or your channel in your subject matter, [05:20] than somebody that has experience, And look, I'm not saying that you need to coddle people don't always know the same language [05:32] And because of that, it's important that you're speaking to them a bit more. [05:44] you don't have to explain things in as much detail because they already know that stuff. and then move up from there. [05:57] that's coming out of an experienced person's mouth. are going to interpret the words This whole entire concept that we're talking about [06:12] in how people respond to your videos I'm trying to help you do this at a sustainable level So, let me give you some examples. [06:27] and fill in the blank. for people who don't have a lot of time? Or, like the channel we were talking about before, [06:41] are you doing fashion for a certain age group? Are you doing luxury fashion? that are trying to learn how to play a game? [06:55] for people to see your channel as a resource are you doing woodworking content for people for people that are already experienced [07:09] The idea is to design everything it is that you're doing around a particular type of viewer or everything you publish on the channel, [07:22] which makes it easy for them to binge-watch your content, when it's recommended to them on YouTube. You want 'em coming back in and watching more. [07:34] because you can really mess it up if you overdo it. and it was one camera model for example, let's say Canon camera users [07:49] who are new to wedding photography you're narrowing things down so much for you to reach enough of those people [08:03] The total market for that group of people, is gonna be extremely small. the potential reach for that video, [08:16] First, take an overview of your channel Second, ask yourself if you're being too broad make sure you define who they are. [08:29] get to work figuring out who your target viewer is. when it comes to how people respond but also over time. [08:43] that once you figure it out, you have around your YouTube channel: The approach that you take [08:57] that you're trying to reach with your content. not YouTube five years ago, YouTube right now, [09:09] You have to dial in on who it is We have a real and serious threat of AI taking views away from real creators like you and me. [09:22] that happen on YouTube. But every AI video that gets published, And if people like it, [09:34] because viewers are always the priority. or position your channel, or plant your flag, so that you can offer something very specific [09:48] to a group of people, So, because of that, The way to keep viewers coming back right now [10:01] and that, when people run into your videos, Those viewers that keep coming back, in everything it is that you do. [10:15] Now, there's something else I wanna warn you about. are using ChatGPT for their videos if you know how to identify that sort of thing. [10:28] people that make videos to help YouTubers. they are sharing tons of just bad advice and old advice some of it will get its information from the internet, [10:41] and some of it, there's just tons of bad advice out there. of bad advice that you should never take [10:54] So, go ahead and click into that now, Thank you so much for watching.
