[0:00] go live [0:05] and i think [0:07] we are live now [0:10] and i had to paint myself in here [0:12] because otherwise people are not going [0:14] to see when i am speaking so it's just [0:17] for the for the starting so hello [0:19] everybody [0:21] um [0:22] let's see if we get some feedback about [0:25] if we're live already or not [0:28] we are live i can see us [0:32] okay so this is ever um i'm an [0:35] illustrator uh at minute earth [0:38] and i am going to be your host today um [0:42] and as you know we are a youtube channel [0:46] that make videos on the internet and we [0:49] are not used to make streams on the [0:51] internet [0:52] so [0:53] sorry and apologies for mistakes and um [0:58] i don't know like [0:59] things can crash at any point so sorry [1:02] about that [1:03] um [1:04] and [1:06] today we are celebrating that uh our [1:09] book [1:11] which is this one in here um just came [1:14] out today it's available [1:16] uh [1:17] in everywhere [1:19] the the book is sold and we're super [1:22] happy and we are just having like a [1:23] casual conversation with everybody in [1:26] here in the chat and um we're also going [1:29] to talk about uh some things uh [1:32] regarding the book and also unrelated to [1:34] the book we are going to keep it like [1:37] chill and casual over here so um [1:42] i'm not like a super experienced host [1:44] because arkady [1:47] is actually um the mastermind behind [1:50] our streams uh and he's out of office [1:53] today [1:54] so he he won't be joining us and that's [1:56] why you are stuck with me [1:59] and um my [2:02] um [2:03] and we're going to start this thing um [2:06] by [2:08] uh asking [2:10] uh [2:13] the [2:14] team members that were more involved in [2:16] the book creation [2:18] uh general questions about how the [2:22] process [2:22] go [2:23] how did it came through like what was [2:26] the experience of writing the book how [2:29] much time did it take to write it um [2:32] and maybe if they have some anecdotes um [2:36] and so i am going to introduce [2:39] uh kate and sarah and i will let her [2:42] um i will let uh kate start and then we [2:46] can [2:47] have some words from sarah [2:50] hey everybody uh this is really fun [2:53] um yes i'm kate i'm a writer and [2:55] director and narrator at minute earth um [2:58] and i did a lot of so the book is [3:00] obviously based on some of our favorite [3:02] videos so i did a lot of collecting [3:05] of those videos and trimming them and [3:08] editing [3:09] all the amazing words that me and other [3:11] people have written um [3:13] and putting them together into [3:16] a big text file which sarah transformed [3:19] even further from that so do you want to [3:21] talk about that [3:22] yes please yeah um also just to answer [3:26] i'm seeing in the chat there's a little [3:27] bit of a [3:29] delay so [3:31] we're probably seeing what you're [3:32] writing [3:33] a couple of seconds after you say it so [3:37] um this is live it's just like slightly [3:39] laggy but um [3:42] hi i'm sarah um i'm an illustrator and [3:45] was the lead graphic designer on the [3:47] book project [3:49] and [3:50] i feel like [3:51] more than anything we got to really like [3:54] reappreciate all of our [3:57] amazing illustrations over the years and [4:00] um [4:01] yeah take our best [4:03] minute earth videos that you love and [4:05] kind of turn them into [4:07] i think really a new thing like they [4:10] feel almost like new stories hey [4:12] leo um [4:16] yeah and ever has been the longest [4:18] illustrator here so i got to [4:21] reappreciate all of his [4:24] amazing illustrations over the years and [4:26] um it felt really collaborative [4:30] there were a couple of us that were [4:31] working on it [4:32] the most but i would say that this book [4:34] really is [4:36] the summation of everything [4:38] that is and [4:40] has been minute earth and i think [4:44] it's really amazing as its own [4:46] new [4:49] thing to experience [4:52] it is it feels really different than the [4:54] videos for some reason and i don't know [4:56] like having this physical thing [4:59] it's really different and it's i don't [5:01] know it's really cool does anyone like [5:02] else feel that way is that weird [5:05] when i got my advanced copy very late [5:08] because i am not in the u.s [5:09] [Laughter] [5:10] i was so excited like it like it was [5:13] like just like i was so happy i sent a [5:17] photo and everything it's just like so [5:19] great like it seems it's really amazing [5:21] like [5:23] i don't know like [5:24] i don't know why it feels [5:26] uh so different um than than video well [5:30] i i guess you know like it's it's not a [5:32] video [5:33] but it's so nice to see [5:36] uh drawings that we usually [5:39] see [5:40] like in in a digital form and i think [5:42] that my experience with with all of [5:44] these drawings is that um i have never [5:49] had like printed versions of of the [5:52] drawings that we have made [5:54] so maybe having them in physical form is [5:56] just like another level of experience [5:59] and i got to appreciate [6:02] um [6:03] do like [6:04] our content like this is this is [6:06] basically like a like a celebration of [6:09] what minute earth is and how has done so [6:12] far [6:15] yeah i want to add to that that i feel [6:17] like kate really [6:18] went through all of the stories that [6:20] we've written over the years and [6:24] took the best things out of them and [6:26] turned them almost into news stories so [6:28] what you'll see in the book isn't [6:31] you know exactly what you experienced in [6:34] the videos in any way they really are [6:37] new versions of the writing news stories [6:39] and i feel like because of that they've [6:41] turned into new [6:43] things entirely to appreciate [6:46] um i don't know if there's anything in [6:49] particular about that process that stood [6:51] out to you kate but um i think you [6:53] really [6:55] refined and changed those stories in a [6:57] lot of ways [6:59] well it's funny because i mean our [7:00] videos are so short and that's something [7:02] we struggle with we're like oh we can't [7:03] fit this we can't talk about this but [7:05] like [7:06] they're so dense there's so much going [7:09] on there's usually a couple different [7:10] story lines and so to fit each of these [7:13] questions into two spreads like we [7:15] really had to pair even more out of [7:17] those already short videos um so it was [7:20] interesting to like help pull out one [7:22] storyline and figure out like how how to [7:25] tell it [7:26] with some of the illustrations that we [7:27] already had um it was just really fun [7:30] going through the older stuff because we [7:32] don't go through the back out level a [7:33] lot i don't at least [7:36] reconnect it oh oh [7:38] oh i hope that [7:40] nothing breaks [7:42] oh no it broke [7:44] wait a second [7:46] seems fine to us oh it seems fine okay [7:49] okay sorry about that so um [7:52] from [7:53] so i haven't introduced uh everybody [7:55] that is currently on the live stream on [7:58] the [7:59] google meet [8:00] so i am going to introduce them one by [8:03] one and we have in order of appearance [8:06] on my screen [8:08] we have alex [8:10] who is uh [8:12] a writer and [8:14] has [8:15] wrote [8:16] a a lot of stories about food and um [8:20] um and about uh climate change and [8:24] sort of related stuff have you gotten [8:26] already your advanced copy or haven't [8:30] i did but i'm a bad person and i forgot [8:32] it so it's not i don't i can't lift it [8:35] up and show it to you [8:38] but i have it and it's a wonderful book [8:40] and i i totally agree with everything [8:42] you all are saying about how [8:45] it's somehow different to see [8:47] it [8:48] on paper and it feels like it shouldn't [8:51] be but it is and even though they're [8:53] originally videos and they can do more [8:56] in [8:56] a video because you have so many more [8:58] frames and we sort of compress them into [9:01] four or five or six panels [9:04] that [9:05] it is different and it's kind of i don't [9:07] know the same analogy of like why books [9:09] in general still exist and why people [9:11] still like having newspapers that they [9:12] can physically hold [9:15] whereas like you could [9:16] have any information you want on the [9:18] internet from any newspaper but it's [9:20] still nice to have [9:22] a book or a you know piece of paper in [9:24] your hand so [9:25] yeah i'm super excited to to have held [9:28] it and [9:29] unlike a digital thing where anytime you [9:31] have internet you can look it up if you [9:32] forget it you don't have [9:34] it i'm looking forward to having it [9:37] again [9:38] maybe i'll have to go buy a new copy [9:40] just just to make sure i have it still [9:42] yeah you should you should you should uh [9:44] buy a new one and also um [9:47] that will um [9:48] that will increase our sales by one [9:52] thank you alex uh then i have uh julian [9:57] who [9:58] does have a book in his hands [10:00] you have to unmute yourself [10:02] it's hands-free [10:04] um yes hello i'm also the moderator [10:07] featured now in the in the chat so i'm [10:09] trying to collect all of your questions [10:12] um [10:13] writer director [10:15] narrator at uh minute earth what is the [10:17] question [10:19] the question is introducing myself [10:22] sorry i was looking at the chat [10:23] oh yes he's like moderating the stuff [10:26] and uh yeah of course no the question [10:29] was like when do you uh receive your [10:31] book like how did it feel um do you know [10:35] like on your general impression first [10:37] impressions about the book [10:40] you probably already shared them [10:41] privately [10:43] someone said hola i don't know if they [10:45] actually know me because that's what my [10:47] family calls me but um [10:50] uh so yeah actually i was the first one [10:52] on the team to see the book because i [10:54] went down to our office where we we got [10:56] uh like a palette full of boxes of our [10:59] books and i i did an unboxing actually [11:02] there's an unboxing on our tick tock um [11:05] admin earth if you want to go see that [11:07] but uh it was awesome i don't know it [11:09] was wild to see it in person is [11:12] very beautiful i had almost nothing to [11:14] do with the production of it besides [11:15] some like light editing [11:17] um [11:18] after it was basically done so uh [11:21] yeah i was just i i got to be proud of [11:23] it without having to have done all that [11:25] much work which is nice [11:28] um [11:29] yeah that's that's really cool and um uh [11:33] what did you do with with all of the [11:34] books in that palette [11:37] uh great question well uh i took a few [11:41] home um [11:43] you took more than you should i think [11:44] right [11:45] i think i took three um which is i think [11:48] how much we are allowed to take [11:50] uh and then i helped uh henry and [11:52] melissa uh at some point uh mail out uh [11:56] several of them to [11:57] our our faves in science communication [12:01] uh on youtube mostly um and some friends [12:05] um [12:06] all of you as well [12:08] um so that's what i did with the books [12:09] we still have a bunch [12:11] of them um so we're actually giving away [12:13] some of our books we may do a giveaway [12:15] at some point in this in this uh feed [12:17] but we have a giveaway happening right [12:19] now on our twitter our instagram and our [12:22] facebook [12:23] um we're giving away two books per [12:26] platform so um six books total [12:29] um [12:30] so yeah we're that's that's what we're [12:32] doing with the books uh we're probably [12:33] going to be sending we did giveaway on [12:35] patreon as well [12:36] uh we sent out a bunch of books there so [12:39] and how can people participate in them [12:42] um well we go to our instagram or [12:45] twitter and our facebook and you find [12:47] the giveaway post um [12:49] each of them has instructions but it's [12:51] pretty basic you know [12:53] like the post [12:55] leave a comment it it yeah it depends up [12:58] it's different per platform because they [13:00] all have their own [13:01] rules [13:02] um but uh if you just go to your [13:04] favorite platform you can you can join [13:06] each of the giveaways but you can only [13:08] win once so feel free to go do all those [13:11] it ends at midnight eastern time [13:14] um [13:16] tonight so [13:17] uh if you want to join one of those [13:19] giveaways you [13:20] have uh [13:22] just a few hours left [13:23] and four hours [13:25] no five [13:27] i think five hours yes i'm not any [13:30] survivor yeah something like that and [13:32] can anyone participate anyone in the [13:34] world [13:35] anyone in the world yes uh whenever we [13:38] do giveaways or anything like that we [13:40] end up shipping [13:42] probably more things [13:44] world overseas like outside of the [13:46] united states than in the united states [13:48] uh so i [13:50] there's a high probability that uh [13:52] people in uh other countries will be [13:53] getting it i think someone on our [13:55] patreon from israel won uh one of the [13:58] um giveaways so [14:00] well that's really nice [14:02] okay the next person is uh is melissa in [14:06] here still [14:08] i think she was i was going to name her [14:11] i am here yeah melissa is in here i was [14:13] going to name her uh the host of the [14:15] stream because she has a so beautiful [14:17] setup in there but she refused [14:22] yeah i would not be a good host [14:24] um [14:25] but i happen to be in our office so [14:28] i have the piles and piles of um [14:31] books that julian was talking about so i [14:33] was able to kind of make a little [14:36] display behind him [14:39] that's so good um so you you got to saw [14:42] them first right [14:44] and by the way melissa is [14:47] um a magical person like she's not like [14:50] a writer [14:52] she [14:53] she wrote an episode for minute earth a [14:55] long time ago [14:57] but she is like um or resident expert on [15:01] legal affairs and business stuff um and [15:04] she like runs [15:06] mainly behind the scenes and she's [15:08] fantastic and her stick figure is um [15:12] has a b [15:14] and um a balance and a book [15:18] just because she's um [15:20] expert on legal stuff and yeah so she's [15:23] like behind the scenes mostly but she's [15:26] lovely and wonderful and she's always [15:28] like you know fantastic and she's in our [15:30] office and she probably uh got to be the [15:34] first person like [15:35] dealing with this book stuff so tell us [15:38] like um more about it [15:42] yeah so like with the physical books [15:44] when they came or when we started the [15:46] whole process [15:48] uh both [15:50] i think [15:51] yeah well [15:52] for the physical books it's kind of [15:54] funny because i was waiting and waiting [15:56] and waiting for them to come to our [15:58] office and i we got a bunch of copies so [16:01] it was going to be like five [16:03] seven boxes of like all these books [16:06] and i was waiting and the day they came [16:09] i left for a little vacation break [16:12] so [16:13] i i was frantically like getting a hold [16:16] of julian and asking um if you could go [16:18] down to the office and move all the [16:20] boxes [16:21] off the palace and um [16:24] so i didn't have to do that but then i [16:26] didn't get to see the book right away i [16:28] had to wait till i got back from [16:30] um visiting my family [16:32] but it was um wonderful when i did come [16:37] into our office and we had um [16:39] all of these boxes of books and it was [16:41] just like [16:43] so so amazing um [16:46] after [16:47] it it was kind of a different process [16:49] for me because i didn't [16:51] i didn't do [16:52] any of the editing or the writing or you [16:55] know any of the illustrations on either [16:58] the videos or the book so for me our [17:01] whole process is kind of [17:03] i live in a different space of it so [17:06] it's so amazing to see [17:09] it go from [17:11] video to print and [17:14] it was kind of a magical process because [17:16] i just did [17:17] like ever said mostly behind the scenes [17:19] things and then all of a sudden [17:21] i came into the office and we had boxes [17:23] and boxes of these books that you could [17:25] hold and flip through and it was like [17:27] magic um [17:29] many many many months of magic but [17:32] magic nonetheless so [17:34] um [17:36] yeah i just think as someone who kind of [17:38] um [17:40] sees sees the end results of everything [17:43] we do [17:44] everything we do is magic here i think [17:46] but um this book i i just love it [17:50] and um [17:52] for the beginning process [17:54] i feel like [17:56] i believe the publisher i i believe we [17:59] kind of always [18:00] um thought about making a book or like [18:04] dappled in that idea maybe you guys you [18:07] guys can say if that's true or not i [18:09] feel like i heard like kind of [18:13] some little ideas about books in the [18:15] past [18:16] and so when our publisher [18:18] kind of came to us with the idea i feel [18:20] like it just was the right time and [18:23] we were ready for it and [18:26] there it went so [18:29] that's really cool that's really nice [18:31] yeah i think that we had um some [18:33] requests uh to do a book before but i i [18:37] don't [18:38] i i don't remember them very well maybe [18:40] henry would know about them i don't know [18:43] if someone that's here know about it oh [18:46] henry joined [18:47] did henry joined yes i'm here oh hello [18:50] there [18:51] yeah we've had it's you know it's pretty [18:53] typical that people request books based [18:55] on youtube channels because [18:57] uh publishing companies are always [18:58] looking for more material i think [19:01] um [19:02] but one of the things [19:03] at least for a minute physics that i've [19:05] always wondered about is like is what is [19:07] the [19:08] value like the added value of having a [19:10] book because all the stuff's already in [19:11] videos and if i would you make new [19:13] content for the book that's not in the [19:14] videos or something else [19:16] um and i think with minute earth we [19:19] finally realized [19:20] that [19:21] actually having the print a print [19:23] version of a lot of the art is is i [19:26] think minute physics art is not nearly [19:27] as beautiful and they probably printed [19:29] out it wouldn't be quite as beautiful as [19:30] the miniature things and so that's like [19:32] one of the benefits of minerv uh the [19:34] middle earth illustrations they convert [19:36] into a [19:37] into a book in a nicer format [19:39] uh [19:40] it's also one of those things where [19:43] sometimes you also have to have the [19:44] right combination of [19:46] interest among the team and the [19:48] publisher seems or whoever's reaching [19:50] out to you seems somewhat legitimate and [19:52] sometimes there's [19:55] mismatches in the the level of interest [19:57] in the kind of the [19:59] um [20:00] scale at which the person getting [20:02] touches is interested we typically like [20:04] we haven't reached out and said hey we [20:05] want to write a book um i'm trying to [20:07] find people for that it's typically the [20:09] other way around [20:13] but that that's that's my understanding [20:14] of things if somebody else has different [20:16] understanding [20:17] they can speak up [20:19] and by the way that was henry uh he is [20:21] um [20:24] the minute physics um [20:27] magical person that makes videos over [20:29] there and also is around [20:32] minute earth um [20:34] uh giving a lot of feedback [20:36] very good feedback uh on videos and [20:39] stuff and keeping an eye [20:41] on our craziest ideas [20:45] um [20:46] so i have uh i think the two more people [20:49] that are around on this live stream i [20:51] think that uh we have uh leo [20:54] uh [20:55] from brazil i don't know if it's there [20:59] yes yes hello [21:01] hello there leo is our um [21:04] translation coordinator uh fantastic [21:08] person everybody is fantastic in here uh [21:11] and he [21:13] he takes care of coordinating all of the [21:15] translation efforts uh because like we [21:18] have several official channels in [21:20] different languages and you know he's [21:23] keeping an eye on everything and making [21:25] sure that everything runs smoothly [21:28] and he also takes care of a few other [21:31] things have you already received your [21:33] advanced copy of the book [21:35] yes oh did you receive it first like [21:38] like [21:39] no it was after you oh and i was going [21:41] to send the picture as well but then we [21:44] had a book launch party so i was it i [21:46] was okay i'm gonna wait for the party [21:49] and [21:50] i just got it like a few days ago [21:52] and it's so beautiful like [21:54] you should be all so proud of the book [21:57] because it's it's really amazing [21:59] i really wish that everyone would buy [22:01] the book and [22:02] kids of all ages because it's it's [22:04] really amazing it's really nice really [22:06] nice i love it [22:08] um [22:10] leo also runs the uh portuguese channel [22:14] um [22:15] yeah [22:16] yeah so if if [22:18] anyone from brazil is in is watching you [22:20] know is [22:22] you should go to minota so [22:25] it's the portuguese version yeah i saw a [22:27] comment uh earlier in the in the [22:30] in the live stream that said [22:32] that [22:33] uh that they thought that it was minute [22:36] a live stream from minute to date and i [22:37] was oh really yeah because that there is [22:40] a running joke inside minute earth that [22:42] at some point minute of terra is going [22:44] is going to become more popular than [22:46] minute earth [22:50] there's a lot of people from brazil [22:52] around i don't know if they are here [22:54] maybe they can uh chat like leave a [22:56] comment with a [22:58] brazilian flag on the on the live stream [23:00] to know how many of you oh you're about [23:02] to make my job way harder [23:05] [Laughter] [23:09] um so okay [23:12] uh and uh before uh introducing the next [23:15] person i got a a comment from julian [23:18] that maybe we should uh answer some [23:21] questions in between [23:23] um i don't know if there is like how [23:26] many questions do you have over there [23:27] julian [23:30] uh like 16 or something well people have [23:32] been asking a lot of questions so [23:35] okay do you think that one of those [23:36] questions is related to jasper somehow [23:40] related to jasper yes well some of them [23:42] are are general so we could ask japan [23:45] jasper what his favorite pokemon is [23:47] which uh [23:48] may you're asked in the uh chat uh [23:53] or any of these other random facts [23:55] questions okay so [23:57] yeah like [23:58] let's let's use that question to [24:00] introduce jasper uh who is our is jasper [24:03] here right i am here okay hi there [24:06] jasper is our [24:08] fantastic programmer and uh coding [24:11] expert [24:12] uh and uh minute labs uh a fantastic [24:16] person um i'm i'm having trouble with [24:19] the titles but anyway he does a lot of [24:23] programming stuff for many of our videos [24:26] and you probably have uh watched him at [24:29] some point um making videos on minute [24:32] laughs uh youtube channel [24:35] and uh yeah what's uh what's your [24:38] favorite pokemon and did you get your [24:39] advanced copy of the book [24:41] oh yeah i well [24:44] in terms of the book i've i liked it so [24:46] much i got three oh oh [24:49] so [24:50] i think i win don't i do i win something [24:53] i think that melissa wins [24:55] yeah you might want to take a look [24:57] uh the [24:59] benefit of having three books but [25:01] uh two of them at least are going to go [25:04] to [25:05] family and friends so uh [25:07] i won't hoard them all [25:09] um [25:10] in [25:11] favor pokemon you're asking the wrong [25:13] person [25:14] i [25:16] uh [25:18] name a pokemon [25:19] oh i i can name uh yeah charmander uh [25:24] pikachu obviously uh [25:27] uh that's all i've got really [25:30] it doesn't know what's going on come on [25:33] what was that [25:34] is there a whale pokemon ever [25:37] there probably is but i am familiar only [25:39] with the first and second generation [25:42] and i think that in the first second [25:44] generation i wish our cotty was here [25:45] harikati has like uh encyclopedic [25:48] knowledge of pokemon or i guess [25:50] pokedexel [25:51] knowledge uh there is there is there is [25:54] definitely a whale pokemon with with [25:57] evolutions but i can't remember its name [25:59] but whale is somewhere in the name right [26:01] yes yes there is and it's like whale [26:03] lord there we go whale lord it's a [26:05] mythical [26:07] is the evolution or not no it's not [26:09] mythical i think it's just a regular one [26:11] oh i thought that there was one in the [26:13] cover of a game [26:17] yeah it's not mythical in pokemon go [26:19] okay oh very common all right you play [26:22] pokemon go [26:25] interesting um okay so uh jasper is [26:28] there something yeah that [26:31] let's answer more questions says alex uh [26:35] your that chat is that chat is visible [26:37] on the live stream by the way so people [26:39] ever i have a question that's [26:41] technically for you [26:48] so [26:49] why don't we [26:50] translate our videos to spanish anymore [26:52] uh which is yeah [26:54] well [26:55] yes that's a that's a very good question [26:58] and it's uh kind of like [27:00] time [27:01] um [27:02] [Music] [27:04] it requires a bit of time we have this [27:06] problem i think where [27:08] we have gotten people who start [27:10] translating the videos in spanish and [27:12] then we poach them and make them part of [27:13] like the main video production team [27:15] somehow leo has managed to stay immune [27:17] from this i think because he's like [27:19] making his own videos in portuguese and [27:20] putting them also on the channel but [27:23] um we've like ever [27:25] ever and our cody both uh started in the [27:27] translator role and then just became uh [27:30] absorbed into the main production team [27:32] leo watch out it could happen [27:36] leo someone's asking if you're gonna [27:37] translate the live stream [27:41] i don't think they're kidding can i dub [27:43] each of you of each of you [27:46] yeah you have to do the voices for all [27:48] of us [27:50] maybe [27:51] i still remember the first time that um [27:54] leo [27:55] uh translated a [27:59] um a series of videos that we made that [28:02] were live [28:03] so every time that i've been speaking [28:05] like i haven't been on screen because i [28:08] have to pin myself [28:10] yeah whatever so um [28:13] leo [28:14] had to make uh [28:16] it was a live video where uh emily uh [28:20] appeared on screen introducing the next [28:22] videos and the series of videos is also [28:24] called minute earth explains [28:26] and [28:28] and when he did that he um he recorded [28:31] himself uh and since he was like doing [28:35] emily uh he sent us a photo that was [28:38] very funny [28:40] emilio [28:42] emilia yes [28:47] that was super funny [28:48] okay uh [28:50] who else is in here i don't i don't know [28:52] where i don't i don't want to click on [28:54] the on the on the mid stuff because um [28:57] i'm probably going to break something [28:58] but uh i don't know if i am missing [29:00] someone to introduce him here [29:02] i think everyone's spoken [29:06] okay [29:07] more questions more questions [29:09] well hi to my mom who's in the [29:14] she just keeps yelling argentina i think [29:16] because everyone's saying they're from [29:17] brazil [29:18] uh [29:20] all right let's see we got let me go [29:22] back to some [29:23] early questions here uh gary woods said [29:27] i have a question what kind of dogs [29:28] would be best suited for living in the [29:30] wild i don't know if anyone knows how to [29:32] answer that question but i mean huskies [29:35] i guess [29:37] wolves [29:38] dingoes dingos are already in the wild [29:40] so [29:44] not pugs [29:47] maybe that's the more interesting [29:48] question which dogs would not survive in [29:51] the wild they're barely suited to live [29:53] in a home [29:53] [Laughter] [29:57] that that would actually be like a nice [30:00] uh uh miniature video like which which [30:02] dog [30:05] is going is isn't going to dog dies [30:07] first [30:08] yeah oh well important question that a [30:10] lot of people have asked well several [30:12] people is where they can buy the book um [30:14] and so [30:16] one you could just search minute earth [30:18] explains [30:19] um anywhere that you normally would buy [30:21] look and it's [30:23] hopefully probably there um and then [30:25] otherwise in the description to this [30:27] live stream is the link to our website [30:29] where we have uh other places you can [30:31] buy the book [30:32] so that's minuteearth.com [30:35] books um and if you go on dftba.com [30:40] our book is on there um in an exclusive [30:43] bundle you can only get on bfba.com uh [30:45] that comes with a fancy t-shirt and a [30:48] whale pin um [30:50] so those are the places you can buy the [30:52] book [30:53] i don't have that pin yet and i'm [30:56] yeah and i want i want i don't think [30:57] anybody does [30:59] i want the thing so badly [31:03] um [31:05] let's see how how do you uh uh mayor who [31:09] which i hope i'm pronouncing the name [31:10] correctly uh says how do you come up [31:12] with so many puns [31:17] who do we blame for all of the puns [31:21] who started the first pun i think i have [31:24] the blame for that because i used puns [31:27] in minute physics videos before mata was [31:29] started [31:30] but [31:31] probably the correct answer is there are [31:34] actually about five times as many puns [31:36] as make it into the final videos that [31:38] have to be made and then they get [31:39] filtered out so [31:41] the way we make so many puns is by [31:43] making even more puns and then getting [31:45] rid of the [31:46] the one the ones that you don't hear are [31:48] you you should be glad that you don't [31:49] hear [31:51] even if you don't like the ones you are [31:53] hearing i love the people think that the [31:56] last puns are so good that we actually [31:58] formulate whole videos around them [32:01] so some people really appreciate our fun [32:05] yeah i have seen a lot of comments on on [32:08] our video saying [32:10] they started with the pun and make a [32:13] video [32:14] all around that pun just so that they [32:16] could like say that pun at the end of [32:18] the video [32:20] which would be a fantastic way to make a [32:21] video but i don't think that that works [32:23] like that [32:24] i should try that more often it's a good [32:26] brainstorming uh opportunity [32:29] see if you can come up with a video [32:30] after coming up with the pun [32:33] um yeah one of my challenges since i'm [32:35] like a newer writer is sometimes i come [32:37] up with a pun but then i'm like [32:39] i think this has been made before in a [32:41] previous minute earth videos i have to [32:42] like search it out and i'm like yeah [32:44] like for example like [32:47] beauty is in the eye of the beholder or [32:49] whatever stuff like stuff like that like [32:52] really obvious sort of fun sometimes uh [32:54] i have to make sure that it hasn't been [32:56] made before because we've made a lot of [32:58] videos about certain topics [33:00] um [33:01] but that's part of the fun i think [33:07] do you have any other uh question over [33:09] there [33:12] um [33:13] let's well some of these [33:15] let's see let me see if i can find a [33:16] question that's not like an again a [33:18] science question that we may not be able [33:19] to answer [33:20] uh no you should ask us the science [33:23] questions and then we can test our [33:24] knowledge [33:25] okay alex player x wants to know what [33:27] happens in our brain when we forget [33:31] our dent is no longer connected it's [33:35] like you have a wire that doesn't [33:36] connect except for that wires made of [33:39] nerves and axons i don't know that's [33:41] true i have forgotten but that is what i [33:44] think is true [33:45] next question [33:47] oh we have a question answer here [33:50] so trace uh dominguez which he has an [33:53] awesome channel you should check out his [33:54] channel as well one of our uh faves in [33:57] science communication here on youtube uh [33:59] he asked [34:01] do you think y'all are going to take [34:03] advantage of the new multi-track audio [34:04] for translations or anything question [34:06] mark question mark uh i think we've [34:07] talked about that before but leo [34:09] you probably [34:11] know more about this [34:14] i don't know if leo [34:16] knows about that picture because i heard [34:18] about it um [34:21] wait i i don't remember [34:23] where i heard about it but the thing is [34:24] that so if i understand correctly is [34:26] that feature like you can change the [34:28] language within the same video yes [34:29] exactly exactly okay [34:32] yeah so i think the reason that we like [34:34] doing like separate channels partly is [34:36] because we don't just dub uh the videos [34:38] and by we i mean uh leo and friends [34:42] uh they we they actually like change all [34:45] the words and everything in the videos [34:47] themselves uh so that that's all [34:49] translated as well uh which i think is [34:51] sort of going the extra mile so it feels [34:53] very like native you know like there's [34:55] people who watch me that don't don't [34:57] know that that's not that like they [34:59] don't know about minute earth in english [35:01] they think mini [35:02] is the original one and that we are [35:04] dubbing them in in in [35:06] english if anything [35:07] um [35:08] so [35:10] yeah so yeah that happens sometimes uh [35:12] some people [35:14] don't [35:15] even today like [35:16] the channel is on for like six years and [35:18] even today some people they don't know [35:20] about the english version most of them [35:23] do [35:24] but [35:25] yeah julian was correct like when [35:27] translating [35:28] because of all the puns and like the the [35:31] video is short and quick and straight to [35:34] the point so it's not like just dubbing [35:37] you know like it's really tricky to [35:39] deliver the message not only only to [35:42] portuguese but you know spanish and [35:44] french and italian all the dubbings that [35:47] we have so it's uh it's [35:50] exciting [35:52] um and the length of the video is [35:54] different too like it's not just like [35:56] yeah we're playing it at the same speed [35:58] so yeah yeah and sometimes you have a [36:01] bun [36:02] like that you can't translate like the [36:04] words but the the drawings is are [36:08] different [36:09] so it's [36:10] always a bit tricky you know but [36:12] it usually goes well [36:16] it does [36:20] uh [36:22] agreed leia okay so i am receiving uh [36:25] comments through slack so that i should [36:28] change this to a great layout and i [36:30] don't know how to do that so [36:32] sorry [36:33] keep going with the questions while i [36:34] figure out [36:36] what is this [36:40] uh and you're muted probably change [36:42] layout so there's one question about how [36:44] we chose the book title and i'm really [36:46] curious you know we went through a lot [36:47] of different iterations of it and we [36:49] could have had a title that was [36:51] completely different or about something [36:53] specific or a different title that was [36:55] really also generic but in a different [36:58] way [36:59] you want to someone who is super [37:00] involved in i want to share how we came [37:02] to talk about whales rather than other [37:05] things and also what you can tell the [37:08] whole title of the book because it's not [37:09] just about whales [37:11] everyone actually know the whole title [37:12] of the book [37:14] i can read it to you from the cover [37:18] minute earth explains how did whales get [37:20] so big and other curious questions about [37:23] animals nature geology and planet earth [37:27] um also i i think to answer the cover [37:30] question [37:32] um [37:33] arkady who is not here one of our [37:35] illustrators [37:37] designed [37:38] a version of this cover [37:40] and it was i think based on a poster [37:43] that ever [37:45] designed a long time ago yes [37:47] um and that featured the whale coming [37:51] out of the [37:52] earth [37:53] and so i honestly think it was like the [37:56] cover design inspired the title thing [38:00] um [38:01] and we talked about maybe doing a [38:03] different question and like featuring a [38:05] different prominent thing coming out of [38:07] the earth but [38:08] this one um [38:11] i think was a hit amongst our team and [38:13] we did [38:14] some kind of patreon poll at some point [38:17] and that was the favorite pick [38:20] one of the other ones like [38:22] yeah there was one about why do rivers [38:24] curve which is a video that we all love [38:26] um so i think that was a close second [38:28] but you know you guys like animals and [38:30] we wanted an animal on the cover to be [38:31] honest [38:34] animals have faces um [38:37] and you know like no other things have [38:40] faces on our videos not not even stick [38:42] figures so well most of them [38:51] i'm curious what the other uh candidates [38:54] were [38:55] does anyone remember what what else we [38:57] were considering [38:58] there's like a road one with a road on [39:00] it i don't remember what was on the road [39:03] oh oh i thought it was a road that makes [39:05] a lot more sense [39:07] because we talked about rivers [39:09] and how they did i mean there was there [39:10] was kind of two categories of titles [39:12] right there the categories where you [39:13] were taking a title from one of the [39:15] sections of the book right one of the [39:16] questions in the book and using that as [39:18] the title which is what ended up [39:20] happening and so you had a bunch of [39:21] different options and then we also did [39:24] kind of talk about like having a more [39:25] generic overarching title like just [39:27] saying minute earth explains the world [39:29] or something like that [39:30] um [39:32] and we went through a variety of [39:34] different options [39:35] in both of those categories and [39:37] it's this combination of you want [39:38] something to both be [39:40] like a thumbnail of a video you want it [39:42] to be representative of what's inside [39:44] but you also want it to be catchy um [39:48] and [39:49] and there was some i think that there [39:50] was some discussion of like certain [39:52] kinds of titles make you more or less [39:56] likely to [39:57] feel like there could be a second book [40:00] or a third book if some if it was [40:01] successful and so we didn't want to [40:04] either feel like we were committing to [40:05] more or keep ourselves like like make it [40:08] really hard to find something later if [40:10] they're if you decide to have more books [40:12] so [40:13] not to like maybe that's a forbidden [40:15] topic sorry uh kaden sarah and melissa [40:18] i'm not supposed to talk about that [40:19] spoiler [40:20] that was i think that was at least part [40:21] of the conversation [40:23] was [40:24] possibility [40:25] it's hard to file to follow up to about [40:27] that's called minute earth explains the [40:28] world you know [40:31] other than adding like the number two [40:33] afterwards [40:36] uh someone ibrahim asked if if there's [40:39] scratch and sniff in the book and [40:41] specifically if there's a hyena butter [40:43] scratching smith [40:44] which i think someone asked in the [40:45] youtube comments too i don't know if [40:47] it's the same person [40:49] there's a merch idea [40:51] [Music] [40:52] i mean yeah maybe the next there's no [40:55] scratching stuff in this well i mean you [40:56] can scratch and sniff it but you know [40:59] it's not meant to be scratched and [41:00] sniffed um but that might be a good idea [41:03] for the next book [41:04] it smells like new [41:08] [Music] [41:10] yeah do we talk about [41:12] plant perfumes in this uh at some point [41:15] that would have been a good that would [41:16] have been a good one [41:17] um although i think it's about how like [41:20] those plants smell like dead meat or [41:22] something so [41:24] i don't know how i don't know how much [41:25] people would want to scratch and sniff [41:27] that without it spoiled food there's a [41:30] lot of good smells in there or bad [41:31] smells there are who are flowers trying [41:34] to seduce [41:35] yes can the plants talk [41:38] it is on on page 42 every time you ask [41:41] that question i remember uh kate's kid [41:45] saying no [41:48] it's incredibly difficult to prompt a [41:50] four-year-old to [41:52] repeat a question if they think they [41:53] know the answer can you explain that how [41:56] that happened kate [41:58] yes we were trying to we [42:00] those of us that have kids we brought [42:01] our kids in when we filmed the trailer [42:03] to like say the questions um [42:06] and i was trying to get [42:08] my son to say can plants talk so i would [42:10] say can plants talk and he's supposed to [42:12] repeat after me but every time i said it [42:14] he said no can plants talk no [42:18] we eventually got a good egg though [42:22] we should have released that as a [42:23] blooper [42:24] we can we can do that we can arrange [42:26] that [42:30] maria wants to know if we're going to be [42:32] translating the book into other [42:34] languages [42:36] um [42:37] i think yes is the plan but we don't [42:39] have any like details to release um [42:41] however uh let us know what languages [42:44] you would like it to be translated into [42:46] as [42:47] um [42:48] you know we we want to be translating it [42:50] into uh the languages where people are [42:53] going to be buying it um [42:59] oh sorry we're we're definitely working [43:01] on that and we're [43:02] um [43:03] working on um [43:05] our language translation so hopefully [43:06] we'll have some announcements [43:08] um soon on on the different languages [43:11] you can expect [43:13] and hopefully we'll um keep doing more [43:16] um [43:17] in the coming weeks and months [43:20] i have a feeling portuguese is going to [43:22] be one of them [43:24] just a feeling and it's going to sell [43:26] more books than the english one [43:29] it's possible [43:30] uh [43:32] let's see does anyone have any questions [43:34] that they saw on the chat that they want [43:35] to [43:36] ask that i have [43:37] not asked [43:39] oh bye henry bye henry [43:42] um [43:43] there were two science questions the [43:44] favorites uh from alex that were the [43:47] first questions that were asked uh in in [43:50] the chat [43:51] um i don't [43:53] i didn't so one two two four chris [43:57] and [43:58] asked how does katatumbo lightning work [44:01] i don't know what that means [44:03] so if anyone knows [44:08] uh that's a that's a venezuelan thing [44:11] it's um [44:12] it's a light it's a it's like a a [44:15] constant [44:16] uh lightning storm [44:18] that is throughout the year like it's [44:21] it's a storm that is [44:22] in a place [44:24] and it [44:25] there are lightings all year round [44:28] uh [44:29] you say [44:30] and it is called [44:33] i've heard about that actually i have no [44:35] idea how that works and i'm from [44:36] venezuela [44:38] um i have never visited that place i [44:41] know that it exists and that it is like [44:43] a science [44:45] scientific like curiosity [44:48] maybe we'll make a video about it uh now [44:50] that you've had mentioned it [44:55] um let's see fungus eater wow very [44:58] appropriate question fungus eater asks [45:01] why are there not many fruit like fungi [45:04] like truffles [45:05] i feel like fungus eater probably knows [45:07] more about that than we do but [45:10] well [45:11] why [45:12] are [45:14] make fruiting bodies to reproduce and so [45:17] the answer is actually that maybe that [45:18] there are a lot like it [45:20] in terms of why there are not that many [45:22] that are like truffles in an enclosed [45:25] body [45:26] i think it's because one of the most [45:28] successful ways for fungi to reproduce [45:30] is to let their spores get into the air [45:33] and it's a lot easier to do that just by [45:35] having sort of an open [45:36] thing that the spores can fall out of [45:38] rather than having a buried underground [45:41] thing that you then have to send a scent [45:43] out to get a creature to come dig up to [45:46] eat to then poop out later and so it's [45:48] much much easier just to spread them out [45:50] in the air uh not you know just by [45:53] gravity or or otherwise there's some [45:55] fungi that have a little cup that a [45:57] raindrop falls into and it'll it'll sort [46:00] of shoot the little spores up into the [46:02] air and even that is more effective than [46:04] having to have a wild boar come and dig [46:06] it up and [46:07] then spread it around so i think that's [46:09] my my guess as to why there aren't more [46:11] that are like truffles oh we have an [46:14] answer here yeah [46:16] yeah and if you can tell that fun fact [46:18] at a party you know what that makes you [46:19] right [46:20] i'm guy i'm guy [46:22] [Laughter] [46:24] um [46:26] there are tons at some point uh let's [46:28] see yeah i guess alex is just gonna take [46:30] all the science questions [46:32] uh yeah i want [46:33] let's [46:34] let's have more science questions let's [46:36] test our knowledge i have another one um [46:39] it's the first one is uh how is sunlight [46:42] transformed into vitamin d by the human [46:44] body [46:47] [Music] [46:51] i got you [46:56] and i guess that it would be like an [46:58] interesting question to to talk about [47:00] because the um [47:02] it's probably um [47:04] it's probably [47:06] well it's obviously related to chemistry [47:10] and there are probably a lot of chemical [47:13] equations in there that i would be [47:16] very interested to dig on [47:18] because i am lately very interested in [47:21] in chemistry and chemical reactions [47:24] so [47:26] yeah [47:27] do i do someone knows how that works [47:33] i do know that i'm deficient in vitamin [47:35] d [47:36] like most people apparently in montana [47:39] as my doctor told me [47:41] um she's like don't worry everyone here [47:43] is deficient in vitamin c [47:46] uh you spend more time outside [47:49] um [47:50] [Music] [47:51] and by the way the people [47:53] the people uh watching us right now can [47:55] take advantage of uh alex vast knowledge [48:00] in food [48:02] and stuff so if they have a question [48:04] related to food he probably knows the [48:06] answer to food and and claim it probably [48:10] um someone said yeah so plover tech said [48:14] you guys should make a separate channel [48:15] called hour with an h earth and it is [48:18] like a podcast or just longer videos uh [48:20] which actually we uh we made that exact [48:23] title joke and everything about that [48:25] idea so [48:26] there's a contingent within minute earth [48:28] that wants to make a podcast [48:30] um [48:31] our videos are available as podcasts [48:34] uh [48:35] if you look it up but [48:38] they're just the videos but in podcast [48:40] form so [48:41] um [48:44] that would be fun uh we've tried this [48:46] thing uh we haven't posted one in a [48:48] while actually had one in my docket to [48:50] edit for a while but uh on patreon [48:53] um [48:54] supposedly monthly but you know [48:57] a little less [48:58] than monthly um [49:01] we less than monthly or more than [49:02] monthly less often than monthly [49:06] sorry i don't i i don't know if that's [49:08] correct anyway we post uh videos where [49:10] we're talking about like behind the [49:11] scenes of videos that we've worked on um [49:14] and so that is sort of like a test of [49:16] the podcast format but it would be cool [49:18] to do like [49:19] where we actually talk about you know [49:21] new topics amongst each other um and [49:24] there's a lot of the stuff that doesn't [49:26] make it into our videos [49:28] um since our videos are so short [49:30] um that we uh you know there's some [49:32] stuff there like it's this is an [49:34] interesting thing about this topic uh [49:36] but in the editing process we we have to [49:38] remove it because it does it's not [49:40] actually pertinent to the story we're [49:41] telling and so that kind of stuff would [49:43] make for for a good podcast uh [49:45] conversation there is a lot of content [49:47] that we leave out from our videos and [49:49] sometimes i feel like super bad [49:52] about leaving stuff out because it's [49:54] really interesting information but it [49:58] doesn't [49:59] fit into the video [50:01] and we don't have any way of releasing [50:04] that information [50:05] currently about that and a podcast is a [50:09] running idea that we have for a very [50:12] long time [50:13] um [50:14] and we haven't made it really um [50:18] it probably is easier [50:20] to do than we think and we shouldn't [50:22] like [50:23] you know like try to make like fancy [50:27] podcasts or anything [50:29] it can just like be us talking [50:31] uh but yeah like it is [50:34] it is something that is in our minds but [50:37] we haven't gotten to it yet i believe [50:40] trace to answer the vitamin d question [50:42] in the chat um [50:44] alex would you like to read that so that [50:47] i don't have to read the final word in [50:48] that [50:50] sure so trace [50:53] trace suggested that sorry let me just [50:55] make sure i scroll to the right spot [50:57] that basically in deep in the skin [50:59] there's a steroid called seven [51:01] dehydrocholesterol which is a form of [51:03] cholesterol and the uv [51:05] b from the sun uh provides energy in the [51:08] form of photons that break one of the [51:09] chemical bonds that converts it to [51:11] cholecalciferol and i believe that uh [51:15] that then [51:17] is somehow related to d3 which it gets [51:20] converted by the liver and kidneys to [51:22] calcitrol [51:23] which then the protein called dddpb [51:27] gabs and transports to the organs for [51:29] use so the body is an incredibly complex [51:33] biochemical machine [51:35] and uh that's some sense of it basically [51:37] the summary is the sun helps convert [51:39] some cholesterol into some other stuff [51:40] that eventually [51:42] our inner organs can convert into stuff [51:44] that is more useful for our body thank [51:46] you very much trace oh wow you should [51:47] all go check out his [51:49] uh channel definitely yeah that's [51:52] amazing [51:54] someone said how does sugar uh so sorry [51:56] i have to stop saying someone and say [51:57] that marantz 5006 asked how does sugar [52:00] withdrawal affect your body [52:06] badly [52:10] i seem like most things it's something [52:12] we get used to metabolizing and then [52:13] when it's gone it you know disrupts [52:16] disruptives [52:18] i had two donuts before this live stream [52:20] i have no idea [52:24] um [52:26] let's see [52:29] there was a question there was a [52:30] question about how long it takes us to [52:31] make videos [52:33] that's a good one it depends on how [52:34] complicated roughly three minutes [52:36] obviously [52:39] i would say between a month and [52:42] what's our longest running [52:44] their videos we still have not finished [52:46] that [52:47] well ever did one in about four months [52:49] or something right [52:51] recently i think that the longest is is [52:54] like four months obviously i wasn't [52:56] working every day on it [52:58] uh and i think that the shortest one [53:01] actually was produced [53:04] uh [53:04] a month ago it was um [53:06] the um [53:08] i forgot the name that what was the last [53:10] video i worked on [53:11] come on uh give me oh it was the um [53:14] ozone hole yes that one [53:16] uh with the help of sarah [53:19] i finished [53:20] that thing in basically three days [53:23] it was super fast [53:25] but [53:26] and i think that is the faster [53:29] the the fastest production time for a [53:31] video but that that wasn't that that's [53:34] definitely not sustainable like i [53:36] yeah like [53:38] it was crazy it was a crazy production [53:40] time [53:42] yeah you said sanchez asked would you do [53:44] a video showing the illustration [53:46] animation process um [53:49] ever i think maybe you want to take this [53:51] one because it's but it's possible that [53:52] we have some we have made uh some of [53:55] them we have made a lot of them but they [53:57] are not [53:59] public um i have made a lot of tutorials [54:02] for [54:04] uh illustrators because sometimes people [54:07] like guests illustrate or sometimes we [54:09] on board people on the team [54:12] to make illustrations and video editing [54:14] and animation and i have made a lot of [54:18] tutorials actually about you know like [54:20] how to [54:22] put together drawings and how to make [54:24] animations how to [54:27] basically the the process inside the [54:29] software that we use uh in order to make [54:32] the illustrations and the and the [54:33] animations [54:34] and uh they are all very buried buried [54:38] is that i'm sorry i'm mispronouncing [54:40] some they're all buried unlisted [54:43] in uh minute earth 2 [54:46] which is [54:48] our second channel which currently [54:50] doesn't have any public videos yet [54:54] um [54:55] maybe some [54:56] i know i think there's a there's like a [54:58] live stream between you and david or [55:00] something on there yes that's the only [55:02] thing that it's in that channel but [55:05] that channel contains a lot of unlisted [55:07] videos [55:08] that i think that are really interesting [55:10] um and also you know like uh probably [55:13] very boring to the vast majority of [55:15] people but maybe at some point we should [55:17] consider uh releasing them into the [55:19] public it's yeah evers channel just for [55:21] us [55:22] um [55:23] [Music] [55:24] yeah i i whenever i ask ever some sort [55:26] of technical question i get a video and [55:28] it's like hi julian this is how you do x [55:30] thing and it's like a screen capture of [55:32] like premiere or whatever uh or if he's [55:35] sharing or like uh audition how to edit [55:38] audio or something [55:39] um [55:40] but yeah maybe we should release some of [55:42] those to like patreon and then make some [55:44] more like public facing ones at some [55:47] point because i know people have been [55:49] interested in that [55:51] uh i thought you had one ever i thought [55:53] you had [55:54] like where you were i thought that was [55:56] public [55:57] um like behind the scenes illustration [56:00] yeah [56:00] um i think julian just shared it in the [56:03] chat [56:04] um it's called [56:05] alex [56:06] oh okay it's called the basics of [56:08] digital illustration [56:10] oh right right right oh jeez [56:14] that's [56:17] that's a good one [56:19] wait how do you [56:21] been at earth 2 how do i [56:23] go to minute earth 2 if i if i type that [56:26] in it doesn't take me there [56:28] anyway i i don't know if yeah [56:31] it might not have a like a official [56:33] username yeah it probably doesn't have a [56:36] no it does [56:39] oh no it doesn't wrong let me let me [56:41] share it um [56:44] i would i would share that over here so [56:47] let's see [56:48] so uh ecstatic butter which i wonder if [56:51] ecstatic butter has seen a recent video [56:53] uh that came out today asked what came [56:55] first plants or animals [57:00] i think that it was [57:02] things were more like plants than [57:05] animals [57:06] but i'm not totally sure i think [57:09] the idea of what an animal is and what a [57:10] plant is to some degree [57:13] post dates the earliest organisms [57:17] um but that's just my sense ecstatic [57:20] butter asked another really good [57:21] question [57:22] um [57:23] about sort of the background of global [57:26] warming which essentially [57:29] is [57:30] that [57:31] we are [57:32] warming the planet by emitting [57:34] greenhouse gases and [57:36] the planet will survive humans [57:39] probably will also if we don't change [57:43] the amount carbon dioxide other gases [57:45] that we're pumping out in the atmosphere [57:47] life will get way worse for people and [57:50] already has been and it's going to be [57:51] really bad in 20 30 years maybe about 10 [57:54] years to cut our missions in half [57:57] we'll survive but [58:00] it won't be fun [58:01] so do what you can support people doing [58:04] things they can to reduce emissions [58:09] fun stuff well let me ask a follow-up [58:12] here not a follow-up a [58:14] different question [58:16] from that uh tony choi hey tony hello [58:19] tony asked uh how much do you [58:22] ad lib freestyle from the scripts when [58:24] you record [58:26] um for for me it's very little um [58:28] sometimes as i'm recording i [58:30] like you realize that there's a word [58:32] choice that i don't like and so i change [58:34] it um [58:35] while i'm recording um or i get to the [58:38] end [58:39] in the in the pawn area and i like think [58:42] of another pun and so i record [58:44] a couple different [58:45] lines um [58:47] but for the most part i i tend to stick [58:49] to the script [58:53] about uh kate [58:55] yeah i mean we each write what we're [58:58] going we each write our own videos [59:00] generally with a few exceptions so we [59:02] really write it in our own voice um [59:04] anyway so it's kind of it's written [59:06] taylor written for us occasionally i'll [59:08] change things a little bit but they [59:10] we don't we just don't have a lot of [59:11] space to add them a lot you know too [59:13] short [59:14] i i think the only thing that i can [59:16] think of is the k the uh video that you [59:19] and i did kate um [59:21] where we were kind of talking back and [59:23] forth and we we wanted it to [59:25] feel more like a conversation than [59:27] you know [59:29] sounding forced so we sort of played [59:32] around with that and ad-libbed little [59:33] but [59:34] for the most part it seems like [59:36] everything's pretty by the book [59:40] yep [59:41] following up from climate change and [59:43] what came first plants or animals exotic [59:45] butter wants to know if we're going to [59:46] be listening to adele's new song that [59:48] comes out this friday so [59:52] yes [59:54] almost certainly uh [59:56] but i i love that that is the [59:59] the three types of questions asked [60:02] um someone said kate or pazzakista said [60:06] kate the hyena girl [60:08] yup that's me [60:11] whale girl today [60:13] well girl and also horse girl [60:16] and and what i need a collection of all [60:18] my animals maybe one of you illustrators [60:20] can make make me a background with all [60:21] my critters in the background [60:24] we will we we definitely will like kade [60:27] you like sitting in front of all of the [60:29] animals uh she's related to [60:32] i like this i'm gonna keep this [60:33] background around this is great [60:36] family fcj said why are you streaming at [60:39] 1am [60:41] time zones it is 6 p.m for me uh i know [60:44] it's later for [60:45] other folks on this call [60:47] well it's certainly 1am in some part of [60:49] the world [60:50] yes [60:52] i love the question will you all be [60:54] listening to adele's new song that comes [60:56] out this friday [61:02] uh it's the new adele era [61:04] um rock all bread with a baguette emoji [61:07] asks how does religion impact people's [61:10] mental health all right [61:13] i don't think that that is uh [61:16] i guess that is a science question but [61:19] yeah i do not know how to answer [61:21] many different ways for many different [61:23] people how about that [61:25] yeah [61:26] um yeah i definitely know that it can be [61:28] helpful for for folks [61:29] um [61:30] i just want to go back to kate's whale [61:33] and say that that cute whale back there [61:36] if you go to the link that's in the [61:38] description [61:39] and you click the dftba [61:42] merch bundles link [61:44] you can get a very cute [61:48] whale pin that will only be available [61:50] for a limited time [61:52] and it's very cute [61:55] and it has some little gold gold lining [61:59] what is the link [62:01] i can't wait to see it in person it's [62:02] been at earth.com [62:04] books is that is that the link no [62:07] yeah to get the pin you you need to go [62:09] specifically to dfgba.com minute earth [62:12] um [62:13] it's the only place to get the pin and [62:15] t-shirt [62:17] um don't miss the pin [62:19] i don't want to miss the pin [62:22] we'll have to have what's your favorite [62:24] types [62:25] oh melissa do you want to ask this [62:27] answer this question from odello what [62:29] what your fave b types [62:32] i don't know if is still here but [62:35] she is i see her [62:37] hi wait what is it an a b type [62:43] what are your favorite b types like [62:44] types of bees [62:46] oh types the beast [62:49] that makes a lot more sense [62:54] um [62:55] who's your favorite person that's av [62:57] types one [63:11] um [63:12] oh i just i love i mean all bees um [63:17] we keep honey bees at at our house [63:22] so [63:22] i have a particular affinity for them [63:25] because of them [63:26] they're in our yard and [63:28] they pollinate our garden but [63:31] all native pollinators are [63:34] so important [63:35] and so at risk so [63:39] if you can plant pollinator friendly [63:41] plants [63:42] around your home um [63:44] even on the balcony space [63:47] so important because there are so many [63:49] bees [63:50] and other pollinators that are so [63:53] distinct and fascinating and they do [63:55] they [63:56] pollinate such particular [63:59] um plants or crops and they're so [64:02] important so i think they're all so [64:04] fascinating [64:05] because i don't know that i have a [64:07] favorite other than honeybees [64:10] would you make a a video about that [64:12] melissa at some point [64:15] we did the favorite apple maybe we [64:17] should do the favorite b favorite b yeah [64:20] that would be pretty awesome [64:22] her favorite b [64:24] is is not a v i think that's true my [64:27] favorite b is [64:29] is my kiddo b [64:32] that is that is true [64:33] [Laughter] [64:37] i probably should have thought of that [64:44] um we are uh [64:46] we we should already be wrapping up [64:49] because uh it's already nine [64:52] well it's nine for me it's eight eastern [64:55] time [64:57] an hour has gone already through like [65:00] here it goes [65:02] like how does it have like how like when [65:05] did it [65:06] like i had planned a game [65:08] for this live stream [65:10] and i like picked a lot of words for [65:12] that game and it was going to be amazing [65:14] and now we don't have time for this [65:18] great i'll i'm sure that the audience [65:20] will love to know that we were going to [65:22] do some awesome game that they will get [65:23] to see now [65:26] again [65:30] um [65:32] so since since we are going to [65:35] be gone now i wonder if we should figure [65:37] out a quick way to do a giveaway um [65:40] i'm gonna say [65:42] uh that if you want to win a book and [65:43] you're in the chat right now [65:46] uh just tweet at minute earth [65:48] um saying [65:52] i was going to say i was there or [65:53]
