[00:15] of using this system. Hey guys, so like I said, for roughly 15 years.
[00:28] We've been a part of teams that have done one of the most common and it's called progressive betting
[00:43] - That's what I thought was going to work for me. So why don't you explain it to people really quick? - Yeah, well, if I lost that on the first bet,
[00:56] - Okay, what if you lose that $20? - And if you lose that? and go back to $10.
[01:11] you would continue to double it until you win, So that's one form of progressive.
[01:23] And it was featured in a documentary. we were called The Church Team And I remember an elder,
[01:37] and he's like, so I heard that you play blackjack He said, I've got a system. and I've got a system
[01:49] And I knew enough at this time to say, And let me explain why progressive betting doesn't work. The first one is that you're going to get capped
[02:02] and you start with $5. it's going to be at the most, a $500 maximum.
[02:14] So you could only double your bets 40, 80, 160, and then you couldn't place an eighth bet.
[02:27] But let's say you're at a casino that happened to have $5 all the way to a $2,000 maximum. You would still be capped by a 10th bet.
[02:40] before that $2,000 maximum is going to cap you. Well, how often is that going to happen, David? That's right.
[02:55] and you might say, well, if you do this for very long, it won't work. but it's not going to work over time.
[03:10] - No. But you can might be saying, well, Colin, some much larger table minimum to table maximum option.
[03:25] Let's say you're, you're thinking, well, Colin, that's $5 to $10,000. I think it's 12 times before you're going to be limited.
[03:40] you would need $20,000 to recover your initial $5. $20,000 to get that $5 back, you can try this, Even if you say Colin, I've got an infinite bankroll,
[03:57] because I can continue to double my bets to infinity. If you're playing a blackjack game that had a 0% house edge,
[04:09] - Yeah, so you've got just as good a chance then you could break even with Martingale by infinitely, doubling your bet always.
[04:23] but that's not the reality of blackjack. a perfect basic strategy player? Yeah, an average player, a few percent
[04:38] What that means is this isn't a zero sum game. And if you don't trust my math on this, and other mathematicians that just break down the math,
[04:52] isn't a winning system. Is there a winning blackjack system? - Counting cards.
